twenty minutes from now, all right, during football season, Pete's

Dean Blandino coming up tomorrow and so cannot wait to

(01:36):
find out how many picks Pete Prisco got wrong that
he will not take accountability for because he was on
the right side of it, which I can listen. I'm
with him. I had a couple of those yesterday, so
we will have that for you. Not actually, I'll say this,
Bengals minus five, that's on.

Speaker 1 (01:58):
You, dude, Yeah, that's on. They always struggle against Cleveland.
I don't know why you thought that was gonna a
lay up.

Speaker 4 (02:03):
Yeah, that was frustrating the Falcons getting the point and
a half.

Speaker 5 (02:08):
That was frustrating.

Speaker 2 (02:09):
Cleveland didn't look that bad though.

Speaker 1 (02:12):
No, they're a good team. They just if they play
concert competently at the quarterback spot. I had a buddy
who was on the other side of that Atlanta game,
so obviously that was a nice, nice ending, nice ending
for him with the Tampa Bay Bucks laying the point
a half.

Speaker 4 (02:25):
Well, you got a buddy who was on the other
side with the Falcons, so not a nice Well.

Speaker 1 (02:32):
This buddy could probably put this other buddy in a
locker if you wanted to. You know, I don't think
he could put the meat in the law. The meat
wagon probably could do that.

Speaker 5 (02:42):
Yeah, and I don't think he would. He would, No,
my buddy too.

Speaker 2 (02:50):
Until it goes down, then you realize where the alliances are. Bro. Yeah,
blood's thicker than water, my guy, Just telling your teammates
are team mates, man, you don't want to You don't
want to mess with.

Speaker 1 (03:02):
That until they're not, which is where we really get
concerned by with things down in Miami. Tyreek kulsms a
little frustrated that blowout.

Speaker 6 (03:10):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (03:11):
I know you probably watched your commando's play the Giants.
Is it me? What's going on with Malik neighbors Like
he seems already visibly frustrated. I get it, offensively, they
didn't put up a lot of points, Uh, clearly Washington's
gonna try to take him out of games, but it
already feels like there's something going on there.

Speaker 2 (03:32):
Am I wrong? I feel like Dave Ball is in
trouble man Like I always hear how good of a
coach he is, That's the first thing I hear when
people reference him, like how good of a coach he is?
And I don't. I don't feel like, you know, I
know enough about him before met him. You'd love him,
that's why. And that's probably and I get it, but

(03:55):
this is not This is not going to end well
with day Ball and in the New York Giants, and
I feel like they're they're in a bad situation, a
compromising situation because they fired so quickly before they brought
him in, and and and at this point, I mean,
I don't, I don't. It does not look good in

(04:16):
New York. And and need I say, why did you
need to see Russell Wilson one more time to realize
that you know, backup duties good starting duties, maybe not
so much. I don't know why you would start your

(04:36):
season off that way. Jackson Dart looked pretty good in preseason.
He seems to have the respect and the admiration of
his teammates. I'll throw that back at you, Q, like
it's his frustration based off of not having uh Dart
in the game versus having somebody else throwing the ball.

Speaker 1 (04:56):
I mean, I don't know, I know this. I mean,
Russell Wilson can't be the league rusher, you know. I
think their offensive line struggled versus Washington. I didn't think
they really had much balance to be able to run
the football. I mean, Neighbors still led them in receptions.
I mean, you didn't get in the end zone. But
you know, it wasn't like there weren't plenty of attempts
to get him the football. I think they targeted him

(05:17):
like twelve times in that game. So here's the hard
part about to the point that you're making is there
could be a lot of things that add up to
a head coach getting fired or a quarterback getting bench,
which you know, the quarterback getting bench will happen before
a head coach getting fired, But the reality is there's
other things that could lead to it that are completely

(05:40):
out of the head coach or the quarterback's hands. You know,
as far as if the offensive line has improved, if defensively,
you know, they struggled to get off the field on
third down. There's just a number of things you can
point to. Now, I didn't think that the Giants defense
played that bad yesterday, although they did give up like
four and thirty yards, So it's a it's a bit deceiving.

(06:03):
So I don't know. It's it's a tough call because
it is week one. You called for, like tempering emotions
after week one. This is one where I'm like, all right,
that wasn't the performance I thought we're gonna get from
the Giants. Let's see what things look like weeks two
and weeks three. Then you can kind of evaluate after that.
Is that fair?

Speaker 2 (06:21):
Okay? Yeah, okay, I'm okay with that. I'm okay with that.
I think guys are on the hot sea. I think
I think some coaches and some situations are more volatile
than others. And I just don't know why. I feel
like the Giant situation is a more volatile situation. I
think that the Miami Dolphins, I think that's a more

(06:43):
volatile situation. Even though yes, I will say in all fairness,
that should be the approach. It really should. I one
think that that should be the approach.

Speaker 4 (06:56):
Brian da Ball was of course asked about the Russell
will Wilson Jackson Dart discussion after the game, and it
sounded like this, well, you consider starting Jackson next week.

Speaker 2 (07:07):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (07:08):
Look, we're gonna get home, Pat, We're gonna look at
our game collected, what we all got to do better.

Speaker 5 (07:14):
Is it safe to say that Russell is the leaders starter?

Speaker 2 (07:17):
Yeah? I mean we're just right here. After the game,
I got confidence run.

Speaker 1 (07:22):
We got to do better around overall, coaches, players, around everybody.

Speaker 2 (07:25):
So you know we'll get focused and ready to go on.

Speaker 5 (07:29):
Della, in fairness, you're not answering. This sounds like you're
not answering.

Speaker 2 (07:33):
Well, we're talking about after every game. I got confidence
in russ.

Speaker 1 (07:38):
So there was a Pat Leonard by the way, he's
just you know, he's a good dude, but he's really
try to get to the point there.

Speaker 4 (07:46):
There was a report out that Jackson Dart. Jackson Dart
agreed to talk to the media afterwards, you have to
make players available, and before he could talk to anybody,
Giant spokesman stepped in and pulled him away from the
interview and said that's not happening. So they're trying to

(08:09):
really not take part in this whole.

Speaker 1 (08:12):
Well, the hardest thing to do when you're an organization
is try to set yourself up for the short term
and long term. Because you drafted Jackson Dart after you
took Russell Wilson as a free agent, and you're sending
two messages to your team like, this is the guy
for the here and now this is the guy for
the future. Well, the problem is the guy for the

(08:33):
future looks like he might be ready to play now.
And the other issue is if you start getting off
on the wrong foot and lose some games, now looks
like you really should put this guy in now. So
they're trying to protect that because I'm sure the Giants
from their ownership down is looking at Jackson Dart saying, yes,

(08:54):
he had a good preseason, but we all know the
preseason is anywhere close to the regular season, and if
we put Jackson Dart out there now, not only could
we risk him getting hurt, we could look like he's not,
you know, ready, not there for it. Whatever the case is, Like,
everyone only sees the upside of it. The problem is
if a guy goes out there, he's young, and he
falls flat on his face. We don't ever give him

(09:14):
any grace. We're not like, oh, this guy, you know,
he's just got to learn and grow and get better.
I mean that first year for Brayce Soon. I don't
know that he's changed or been able to change that
first impression perception of him since then. And so there's
always a concern of that with our organization, in particular
with the guy like Jackson Dart who again, look at
him preseason, looks like he's ready. But if he gets

(09:36):
in there and then behind behind the scenes they know
he's not ready or they think he's not ready. They're
not going to thrust them into that. That's not what's
best for their team, those veterans on that team. It's
one game into the season. I don't know that we
need to, you know, rush this thing. I think you
can give it some time.

Speaker 2 (09:53):
They didn't look like they were competitive towards the towards
the Commanders. I almost called him team and and I
know it's the first game out, and as you mentioned
earlier in the show, sucks to get into a divisional
a divisional game first game out.

Speaker 1 (10:12):
I was a playoff team too, you know, yeah, I.

Speaker 2 (10:15):
Mean one game away from the Super Bowl by apps,
you know, by you know, all estimations of it. But
I just I think looking at Dallas, I think Dallas
is going to be trash Philadelphia, Philadelphia is what I

(10:36):
think that now Dallas actually that Dallas actually looked Dallas
looked all right, they looked all right, they looked all right.
They didn't they didn't look they didn't look horrible. But
I think they're going to be trashed. I think they
are going to fall off. I don't know that. I mean,
I gave the Giants, Giants a very very positive prognosis,

(10:56):
but that definitely didn't seem to be the case on
on yesterday. It didn't seem positive. So it looks like
to me it's going to be a two team race
in the NFC East. I don't I don't see Dallas.
I just don't see Dallas being able to contend with
with UH, with Washington and Philly.

Speaker 1 (11:15):
I just don't look good, man.

Speaker 2 (11:17):
They did look pretty good. They they didn't look bad.
But they're Dallas. They're Dallas, and they'll find a way
to lose and and then that'll turn into something else.
And and listen, the dysfunction statement, I don't have to
keep saying it. But I do believe there's a level
of dysfunction that exists in Dallas. I thought Brian Schottenheimer

(11:41):
called a fine game. I thought it was. It was.
It was well called. Look ceedee, Lamby makes the catches.
Maybe it's a different game. But there's a lot of
ifs and and you know, horseshoes and grenades is the
only one that you know, when the almost almost did it,
you know matters, you know. I just I don't know.
I just think that Dallas fort for whatever it's worth,

(12:04):
I do not see them being a team that's going
to contend for it this year. I don't. And I
wonder getting out to the getting out of the blocks
the way the New York Giants did, what does that
mean for them? Because I mean, are they dysfunctioned? I
played there, so I had this block because I had

(12:26):
such a positive experience going there. But I just am
I am I being naive and not because I'm I'm
going after Pittsburgh. I mean, I love Pittsburgh and that's
my team, my childhood team, and I love them, and
I say I'm a skeptic of them. Maybe things are
not being handled like they once were in New York,

(12:46):
because it doesn't seem like that's a team that is
trending in the right direction. And I know it's the
first game, but maybe I got to look at this
New York Giants team and think that the old Giant
way is not the New Giant's way, and that might
be the reason why this team can't figure out how
to be successful in recent years.

Speaker 5 (13:08):
You mean the team that you knew wouldn't let Saquon Barkley.

Speaker 2 (13:11):
Walk away, Which is crazy because one of the owners
that was there when I got there, which is a
fine man, and mister Maheror, I don't think that. I
don't think he wanted to let Sakuon go, and he
made it very clear in that meeting that he wasn't

(13:31):
comfortable with it. And yet he's allowing people that he's
delegated to make these decisions make the decisions, and they
did it, and that turned out to be a horrible decision.

Speaker 1 (13:42):
I think it's unfortunate. But if someone does end up
taking the fall, I do think Joe Shane would be
who they go with.

Speaker 7 (13:48):
Now.

Speaker 1 (13:49):
The interesting thing is, like in season to fire a
general manager if they did make a move it doesn't
make any sense because it's not like he has direct
control of the roster at that point in time of
the year. I mean he does, but it's not changing
that much. You know, it's usually the offseason. But it
could be the preparation for moving forward, sure, for sure,
for sure, and that would probably be their their explanation

(14:09):
to buy it. Not to get off on another tangent,
but did anyone watch the Rams game? Where's the Texans
watching Stafford? He did not look like he was moving.

Speaker 5 (14:20):
Oh oh yeah, there's no no chance.

Speaker 1 (14:22):
You don't think he makes it all?

Speaker 4 (14:24):
No, no, And this is look at the defense less
need has drafted really well, like their defense played well,
Puka Naku don't. He's also not going to make it
because that guy just gets destroyed every every game he
gets destroyed.

Speaker 2 (14:38):
Him up.

Speaker 4 (14:38):
But like you're you're watching, You're watching the Rams and
it's like, man, they've got the goods, Like there's a
lot to like there. But I just I don't trust
Stafford staying healthy.

Speaker 2 (14:49):
Man, I just don't.

Speaker 5 (14:50):
It's a long year and he took a beating yesterday.

Speaker 1 (14:53):
It's it's weird like watching him drop back, like you
didn't see the same kind of pop off his back
foot to step up in the pocket. Just how he
was moving and almost looked like he was moving a
bit more gingerly, and even like when he would get
up after he's getting hit. I was like, oh, man,
it looks like, you know, he's he's it's still bothering him,
Like he's he's still battling through that. So I can

(15:14):
only imagine how he feels today and what it's gonna
feel like the rest of the season. You know, because
when you're you know, you get the nectar from the gods,
as LeVar would say before a game. But man, after
that game the next day and as you try to
get into the week of preparation and practice, it just
gets wearing when you're dealing with an injury that's not
going to go away.

Speaker 4 (15:34):
So is that the not to be a nerdy quarterback
question here, but dealing with back issues? Did he exhibit
all the signs of somebody trying to play that position
and not able to do it because of the back
Like you mentioned on the back foot, Like is it
like the way he throws the way he like, is

(15:55):
it obvious to you from a trained eye that yeah,
this is gonna be something he he'll have to deal
with all year and it's not going to get better,
and this is just going to be the version of
bad staff or we're going to get the entire season.

Speaker 1 (16:07):
Yeah, I mean, look two things. One that they won,
so you could say whatever you want, like he was
pretty darn efficient despite the back issue, So let me
just start there. My concern is though it's only gonna
get worse, it's not gonna get better. To answer your question,
and I think just from having back issues, you usually
have it an L four L five L five S
one region because a lot of what you do is

(16:30):
all like that torquing through your hips and through your
lower back when you're throwing the football, and that's the
area that's going to be the most impacted by it.
And it's it's unfortunate, but it's just it's not going
to get better. And I think the hard thing for
him is he's a competitor, he's tough as nails, but
it's something that you know, he's got to give it

(16:52):
some time and rest, and maybe he feels comfortable not
practicing quite as much or taking as many of the
reps throughout the course of the week. But I mean
as a quarterback, like I would have never wanted that
to be the case. Like I always needed those reps,
you know, I needed to go through, especially if you
had new concepts or there's a new route and you
had a different drop that you were working on the
timing of it, you know, all those things. Like most

(17:15):
guys need it, like they need it to rep that
stuff out so they feel super confident when you get
into the game when it's a little but it's even faster,
you know, and you're doing it for real. So I
just I get concerned for him in that way because
there's so many ways in which the back issues not
only just how he feels walking around day to day,
but even how he's gonna practice, you know, how he's

(17:36):
gonna prepare a week in and week out. So look,
they're off the good start. They want to know if
they can manage that, it'd be incredible to see. But
you can just tell I've again had those back issues,
had drop fiot, had sat all those things, like so
many people deal with by the way, who have back issues,
like you know when you see it, And for him,
like he's even though he's getting up there in age,

(17:57):
like he still can move, and I just it didn't
look quite the same, Like his mannerisms were very different
than what I remember the past.

Speaker 4 (18:06):

Good morning, Happy Monday.

Speaker 6 (19:56):
What's up guys?

Speaker 2 (19:57):
Are you hey, Petete?

Speaker 6 (20:00):
Good weekend, good weekend of football.

Speaker 1 (20:02):
Yeah, I mean, Pete, we were actually waiting for you
to just segue into how great that game was last night.

Speaker 2 (20:07):
They all played. They all played. They all played, Pete.

Speaker 6 (20:12):
Was there anybody who didn't play yesterday? Anybody?

Speaker 2 (20:15):
They all play.

Speaker 1 (20:17):
There's some backups who didn't play. But yeah, there I'm.

Speaker 6 (20:19):
Talking about anybody in a contract situation who didn't play on.

Speaker 1 (20:22):
Opening anybody, even Cam, even Cam Hayward got his his
restructure contract down before the start of it.

Speaker 6 (20:29):
They all play. Never forget it.

Speaker 2 (20:33):
And the side of that, Bet Pete, Yeah, what that?
What that were on? You were on the right side
of that prediction, bet, Pete.

Speaker 6 (20:42):
And I liked my prediction for the Super Bowl too
after yesterday.

Speaker 2 (20:47):
I mean, what is Buffalo over Green Bay? Yeah, that's
that's not bad. That's not a bad choice.

Speaker 6 (20:55):
That is fantastic last night it was And how do
you look at it? You look get it as a
comeback or a choke.

Speaker 1 (21:02):
Well, the fumble hole the tip ball ends up being
a touchdown pass to Coleman. I mean, there are some
things that for sure went Buffalo's way. And let me
ask you this, Pete, because I brought this up earlier.
It bothered me when Buffalo did it at the time,
and then Sean McDermott kind of, you know, changed course.
But also I think that was just due to to
where they.

Speaker 2 (21:21):
Were in the game.

Speaker 1 (21:22):
Down fifteen, you score a touchdown, are you going for
two or not?

Speaker 6 (21:30):
No?

Speaker 1 (21:31):
Okay, So why did you do it in the third
quarter then? Because usually this is something that you you
specifically used to do with Belichick all the time. You know,
you used to say everyone thinks that he's a gene
yes and that he makes these sorts of decisions, and
it's like it's stupid, it doesn't make any sense. He's Bill,
the greatest coach ever, Bill Belichick, and look what he does.
So why not why don't do that? Why don't you
do it with Sean McDermott right now?

Speaker 6 (21:52):
Well, I mean, I'm ripping it for it. I thought
I thought the decision to when you when you kicked
the extra point, and then there you went for two
with stupid two, and so you end up chasing it
the whole time.

Speaker 1 (22:03):
Think, well, they they didn't do that in the fourth
quarter though they scored the touchdown, they kicked the pat
so they were only down one score. But I guess
the point is like, if you don't get that two
point conversion, now it's a two score game or two
possession game. I should say.

Speaker 6 (22:16):
Which is right, And I don't understand that. And everybody
always says, well, the analytics say you should do this, this,
and this. You ended up chasing yourself. You chase your tail,
and just do it the right do it the right way.
And you know, the analytics supposedly say the Ravens should
have gone for it on fourth and three at the
end of the game. What seriously, I mean, you go,

(22:37):
you don't get this air and you kick a field
goal and the game's over. So that would have been
I mean, they do play defense in this league, you
know there are, or at least you think they can.
They didn't in the last quarter of that game. But
I just think sometimes we get too caught up. And
here's the other thing about the analytics. I say it
all the time. Every game is not the same, every
play is not the same, every team is not the same.

(22:58):
So the analytics, you can't throw a blanket blanket analytics
out there and say, oh, look this it's fourth and three,
as you go for it, what if your left tackle
third right?

Speaker 2 (23:09):
Yeah, I go.

Speaker 6 (23:11):
But so I thought they ended up chasing it the
whole time, and that they could have backfired on them.
They got it looked they got a miracle win because
and it didn't backfire on them, But it was the
wrong I always think it's the wrong decision.

Speaker 2 (23:23):
Let me ask you about the I mean, we saw
a lot of games that there were moments that shifted
the game. I mean the fumble on the kickoff and
the Jets Steelers game, you know, the catch by the
receiver the tight end, and the Niners game. We just

(23:44):
talked about the situation and the Bills game. I mean
in week one, in week one? How I mean, especially
with the way preseasons go. Now, Pete, how much do
you place in terms of if you think a team
is good or if a team isn't so good in
week one? I mean, can you definitively in your mind

(24:05):
see a team during Week one and say, yep, they're
the one. I mean you did just say, I said
Buffalo and Green Bay, So maybe you already answered the question.
But how possible is that or how how how how
plausible is it to say you can see how good
a team is in week one of the season.

Speaker 6 (24:24):
Well, you have an idea going in, but I think
you know the first month of the season is for
feeling things out. I don't think you can really say
definitively that somebody is a really good team until you
get into mid October.

Speaker 2 (24:37):
That's me.

Speaker 6 (24:38):
That's always been my feeling on it. I mean, yeah,
you got some teams.

Speaker 1 (24:41):
That play with Baltimore and Buffalo are really good teams.

Speaker 6 (24:44):
They are Okay, you know, no, but you saw.

Speaker 1 (24:49):
I'm all easy LeVar question.

Speaker 2 (24:51):
Hey, but c is always instigating and protagonist. All right,
So so I'm with you for two men. It's good good.

Speaker 6 (25:01):
Oh, he's instigating, of course he is. But but no,
you have an idea who's good. But I'm saying, like, okay,
say there's a team that looks good in the first
two weeks of the season, and you have in the
back of your head you go, I'm not so sure
they really are that good. We can't really decide if
they are until mid October. I will say this one
thing you notice, aside from Allen, I think Geno, Smith,

(25:24):
Herbert and so we didn't. There aren't a lot of
big passing games anymore early in the season. And I
think that's because you know how teams play that off
coverage all the time now and they make you be patient. Yeah, yeah,
they play they make you be patient, and a lot
of these quarterbacks don't like to be patient. And I
think it's kind of changed the big numbers in the
passing game. And I don't you know, I don't know

(25:46):
if that's going to change going forward or if it
can change, but I think that's something to keep an
eye on. Is is all the all the teams that
don't really you know, throw the football, and we're getting
back to maybe teams running the ball. You saw Henry
Travis etn had a big day, you know, so I
wonder if that's going to kind of ease back a
little bit as we get throughout the season. But early
in the season he didn't see a lot of passing numbers.

(26:07):
And Brady, I think in college football for your guys
over there, they're not doing it either. They're not putting
up big passing numbers either.

Speaker 1 (26:14):
Well, it depends on what you're talking about. I mean,
I don't know that i'd use Iowa, iways stay where
I was at this weekend as.

Speaker 2 (26:19):
An indication of that.

Speaker 1 (26:21):
But I do want to ask a more general question,
and not to skip over your johnas because I think
you were up, but which team did you come away
after Week one? More optimistic about And which team did
you come away after Week one a little bit like, oh,
that could be a problem this year.

Speaker 6 (26:38):
Well, more optimistic about the Packers than I was, and
I thought they would be a super Bowl team. But
I okay, well, here's why I thought they'd be a
super Bowl team before they got Parsons, But in large
part because I thought a lot of young players are
going to take their game up. I think you saw
Van Ness improve all summer and he showed it in

(26:59):
the game. I think Edred Cooper is going to be
a star, and we saw that in the game. So
a lot of those younger players on that team before Parsons,
I thought they were going to take the net. Wyatt played,
made some big plays another guy. So you saw young
players taking steps forward and that's usually a sign of
a team that's going to be better. So they were
better on defense even with Parsons than I thought they

(27:20):
were going to be. So that's a good side. And
then a team that concerns me more so than I
thought that would be concerned about, probably the Texans, in
large part because of the offensive line. I don't think
they really solved it, and they've addressed it and they've
made it. And yes they had to adjust a little
bit yesterday when the right guard who ed Ingram was

(27:43):
supposed to start at right guard didn't play, so they
moved guys around. But it's not like ed Ingram is,
you know, Zach Martin in his prime either. He's not
a very good player. So I think their offensive line
is going to be a problem for the Texans, and
it's going to be a problem for CJ Strout all
season long.

Speaker 4 (27:58):
All right, Pete, risk going out something for you, all right.
So the Denver Broncos are up twenty to twelve. Yeah,
it's a fourth and eight at the Titans thirty six
yard line with one oh four left, and Sean Payton
goes for it and bow Nicks throws deep.

Speaker 5 (28:18):
What the hell was that?

Speaker 6 (28:20):
I have no We were sitting there in the green
room watching that, and I'm like, what the hell is
he doing? I mean, it made no There's of all
the things you could possibly do in that scenario, that
one made no sense zero.

Speaker 5 (28:32):
I mean, try the field goal or punted down right
and pin deep.

Speaker 6 (28:34):
If you try the field goal in altitude that's like
ten yards less. I mean, you got to kick the
field goal to go up eleven in that situation, I'm
with you, and if you miss the field goal, then okay,
then they're at the spot where you just try to
hit a shot down the field. It made no sense
to me. And by the way, I haven't watched the
all twenty two of that, but it looks like he
picked the wrong guy because the other guy crossing the
field is wide wide open.

Speaker 2 (28:56):
Yep.

Speaker 6 (28:57):
Yeah, so you know, and you know, if you said
that to Sean Payton said, well, look, this guy's wide open.
He picked the wrong guy. Well he's still got to
hit the pack and pick the right guy and the
whole deal.

Speaker 2 (29:07):
I'm with you.

Speaker 6 (29:07):
That was a bad decision and you know, it could
have backfired on him. It didn't. They got away with it.
But kicked the field goal there and go up eleven.
It made no sense.

Speaker 2 (29:17):
Pete. Uh did you see the block that the tight
end of the Jacksonville Jaguars made on on the run
play Like it was like kind of like a counter
power or something like that.

Speaker 6 (29:28):
Yeah, he blasted the guy.

Speaker 2 (29:30):
Did you like that? I mean that that was Penn Stater.
I just figured bring it up and make that final
for you.

Speaker 6 (29:36):
Hey, let me tell you something that penicator is a
damn football player. He's a really he's a really good
football player because he's he's going to be a pass
catching guy. He had fifty I think he had fifty something.

Speaker 1 (29:51):
Strange.

Speaker 6 (29:51):
Yeah, and he's one of the best. He's one of
the best.

Speaker 2 (29:56):
If you shut up, Yeah, it took you while.

Speaker 6 (30:00):
Yeah, and he's going to be he's he's got one
of the best.

Speaker 2 (30:03):
Let the man answered the question to you, go ahead, Pete, Well,
he's kind on our party, Like, why is he interrupting
us all the time? Man, Cam and you have a conversation.

Speaker 6 (30:14):
Uh, yes, we can, LeVar, we can.

Speaker 2 (30:16):
Let's who is this guy? Man, let's go put him
in the corner.

Speaker 1 (30:19):
Man like, oh, come on, yeah.

Speaker 2 (30:21):
Okay, go ahead, go ahead, finished.

Speaker 6 (30:23):
Okay, but LaVar LeVar, Yes, he's a guy they're expecting.
They're expecting really big things from him in the passing.
But more than that, he's one of the best blocking
tight ends in the league and he's been there for
for a couple of years. And that was one. But
he also he also had the block on etn seventy
yard run where he kicked out the guy too. So yeah,
that's it. I'll tell you what he keep an eye

(30:45):
on him is the guy that could be in the
mix for catching sixty passes and and maybe having six
sixty seven touchdowns. But more than that, he's just a
really bruising blocker of the run.

Speaker 2 (30:53):
M got one for you.

Speaker 1 (30:55):
And then and then just is going to clean it up.
And this is about another Penn state I want to
ask you about. I'm just kidding you. Don't let's go
to the Let's let's go to met Life, Rogers, the Jets, Fields.
I know you're a big Rogers fan. I want to
say you're a little pessimistic though about him joining the Steelers.

(31:17):
He just had arguably the greatest debut we've ever seen
for a quarterback with a new team starting the season.
How do you feel about Rogers in this one? But
also how'd you feel about Justin Fields?

Speaker 2 (31:27):
Well?

Speaker 6 (31:27):
I wasn't pessimistic about Rogers. I was pessimistic more so
about the Mealer.

Speaker 1 (31:31):
Than the whole.

Speaker 6 (31:31):
No, I wasn't because I'm the one.

Speaker 1 (31:33):
You were on the wrong side of that one. Let's
just put it that way. Good. No, I wasn't.

Speaker 6 (31:37):
I was the one pre I preached all summer. I said,
he's the last eight games of the season. He played
like Aaron Rodgers last year, and he had more touchdown passes.
I've said this on the show than Herbert and Mahomes.
And he had the same number of touchdown passes as
Alan last year. So you're wrong, Brady. You're trying to.

Speaker 1 (31:54):
Why they bought him, then, Pete, why they brought him
when he comes back to met Life.

Speaker 6 (31:57):
Because they everybody in New York nasty. Of course they're
going to pool them. I mean, why not. They would
boom me if they had any chance. He probably throws stuff.

Speaker 8 (32:10):
At Yes, we got I and by the way, and
by the way, Rogers.

Speaker 6 (32:28):
Rogers comments after the game were just vintage, by the way,
a little needle at him and anything I could play,
And I came in and showed him I play. I
love that. I love the fact that he did that.

Speaker 2 (32:37):
He was good.

Speaker 6 (32:38):
You know, look, it wasn't great, he didn't There weren't
a lot of passes going down the field, but it
was darn good for him in this first game for
the Steelers. And as far as on the other side feels,
it's a good thing he really did. I didn't like
the two point play decision. I mean he's sown in
the triple coverage.

Speaker 2 (32:53):
That was.

Speaker 6 (32:56):
Get him on the perimeter, get him on the perimeter,
let him use his legs a little bit. I didn't
like that call at all. But all in all, I
thought Fields was okay, you know, better than okay, And
I thought Rogers was good and then you know, but
as good as he was, it took the sixty yard
field goal to win the game. I mean, that's not
like he you know, went up and down the.

Speaker 2 (33:11):
Field on him and let him out.

Speaker 6 (33:13):
But it was good for Rogers. And by the way
Brady putting words in my mouth, I never said that
about Rogers. I said the Steelers. The Steelers got to
run the ball better than they have and they got
to play better.

Speaker 1 (33:25):
Yeah, very pessimistic about Rogers, the Steelers the whole. I
trust me. I remember this because you were You and
I were both emphatic that things he was going to
turn things around New York. It didn't happen. And now
you're kind of like, I mean, you guys have to understand.
For people don't know. I worked with Pete for a
long time. Pete would gush about Aaron Rodgers. He would
pick Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers win the

(33:46):
Super Bowl, like for like five years straight, because he's
being like, they got Rogers, they got Rogers, they got Rogers,
like every year he'd say the same thing. And this
was the first time where I really didn't hear you
gushing about him joining the Steelers on what their chances
would be or how I would elevate their chances.

Speaker 6 (34:03):
Well, I thought he would play well. I just didn't
think the Steelers were good enough. How's that? And now,
the way I watched them on the other day, they
still weren't great on defense and Steelers and they still
art consistently running the ball, So you know, there's still
even though they won that game, there's still questions about that.
But he played well, and I thought he would play
well because he's Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 5 (34:24):
Hey, Pete, what's the question?

Speaker 2 (34:26):
Pete?

Speaker 4 (34:26):
What's uh? What's the game you lost yesterday that you
were on the right side of.

Speaker 5 (34:31):
Still even though you.

Speaker 7 (34:32):
Lost, well, anybody, and I picked them. I picked the Bills,
So I think that's a gift. I'll take that gift, okay.

Speaker 6 (34:42):
Because I picked the Bills, it was, and you had
no business yet if you.

Speaker 1 (34:46):
Had to answer to answer the question, though, Pete, what
I talking about? When you got right?

Speaker 6 (34:51):
I'm trying to think which one did?

Speaker 1 (34:53):
I come on, I beat you the past two years
of day, so it's got to be.

Speaker 2 (34:57):
One, okay.

Speaker 6 (34:58):
I had to say the Saints.

Speaker 5 (35:01):
You're on the right side.

Speaker 6 (35:02):
Of the shots into the end zone to go to overtime,
are you kid?

Speaker 5 (35:09):
You bet the Saints?

Speaker 2 (35:11):
No?

Speaker 6 (35:11):
I had the Saint. I picked the Saints as one
of my picks. Why are you laughing at Why are
you laughing at that? They had? They were think I
had the ball. He should have caught the ball in
the end zone.

Speaker 5 (35:22):
It was the line six? Was it six?

Speaker 4 (35:24):
In that game?

Speaker 6 (35:25):
Yeah? Six?

Speaker 5 (35:26):
And so you were on the right side of that.

Speaker 1 (35:28):
But you they were lucky to be in that game.
At the end of it, they're getting their asses kicked
for the in the first half, first three quarters.

Speaker 6 (35:34):
Brady, what was happening at the end of the game?
He had four shots into the end zone at the
end of the game. One of them was in the
guy's hands go to over.

Speaker 1 (35:40):
So you're so you're telling me you were you were
on the wrong side of that one.

Speaker 6 (35:46):
No, I was on the right side of that one side.

Speaker 1 (35:48):
Excuse me.

Speaker 2 (35:49):
I had, but you're the best.

Speaker 1 (35:52):
You're the best.

Speaker 6 (35:53):
We used to do our pic show you. You beat
me one year.

Speaker 1 (35:57):
I beat No, you never beat me, Pete, I beat
you ever single year. You and Can just took els
the entire last two years.

Speaker 6 (36:09):
I'm off to a great start. I think I went
eleven and eleven and four so far with my pick.

Speaker 2 (36:14):
Wow.

Speaker 1 (36:14):
How about that? Yeah, that's pretty good, Pete.

Speaker 6 (36:17):
And and and that was on the right side the same.

Speaker 5 (36:22):
To make that twelve wins?

Speaker 2 (36:24):
Uh.

Speaker 5 (36:24):
Pete always fun. Get him on X at.

Oh gods distracted?

Speaker 2 (38:53):
Oh what guys?

Speaker 5 (39:00):
Did you see that Lamar Jackson got hit on the
head and then shoved a fan. Do you think there
might be some discipline that comes down to Lamaro?

Speaker 1 (39:06):
This is the fan on the fan. Don't touch a player,
and if you do, you should expect something to come
back that.

Speaker 2 (39:15):
Clapping them though he was slapping there.

Speaker 1 (39:17):
Pushing him and all that stuff. They're lucky he didn't
do more.

Speaker 4 (39:22):
I just I don't Why would you think that was okay?
And he did it to two players.

Speaker 1 (39:27):
He did at the two of them.

Speaker 5 (39:31):
That's okay?

Speaker 2 (39:32):
Hey though, for real though, that's coming out on the
right side of a bet. Like talk about being able
to say ice sudden, DeAndre Hopkins and Lamar Jackson all
at one time, like one time Boom Sunday.

Speaker 5 (39:48):
Did he get kicked out? He should have got knocked out.

Speaker 2 (39:51):
I don't think he did.

Speaker 1 (39:52):
I mean, I don't know.

Speaker 2 (39:53):
No harm, no foul. Honestly, I don't think there should
be a need.

Speaker 4 (39:56):
No harm, no foul either way, should throw them down
Niagara Falls.

Speaker 1 (40:00):
Which side waters of the Canadian side?

Speaker 5 (40:03):

Speaker 2 (40:04):

fast
