Speaker 1 (00:02):
It is the best of two pros and coupled with Labarre,
Ray Winn and Jonas Knox on radio.

Speaker 2 (00:13):
What up Sticks, Good morning, sir, how we field? It's
stay coold fine, spill your coffee? Mm hmmm, uh huh.

Speaker 3 (00:25):
I started getting hyped up. I was getting hyped up
out of music. The song jumped into my bones and
into my spirit, and my spirit started dancing on the inside,
and then it came out on the outside. Then I
started moving, wiggling and jiggling, and then my coffee did
the same exact thing, ended up on my leg and
on the couch. So now I got spilled coffee. But

(00:46):
it ain't gonna hold me down, and it ain't gonna
hold me back. I'm ready to talk to some sports
this morning.

Speaker 2 (00:54):
Green Bay looks pretty good, man.

Speaker 4 (00:56):
Woa.

Speaker 5 (00:57):
That looks uh that looks like a really good football team.
And whoa if you were one of those people, one
of those lucky individuals who could see into the future. Yeah,
I don't know if you know this or not. Some
people have labeled me knox Stra Damas and I was
able to see into the future. And no, oh, that
team's going to win their division and that team's going

(01:17):
to a super Bowl, and after two weeks, I feel
pretty good about it.

Speaker 2 (01:22):
Feel pretty good.

Speaker 5 (01:22):
About what the Green Bay Packers have done because they
look like a damn good football team.

Speaker 2 (01:27):
I know it's early.

Speaker 5 (01:28):
Everyone can go down that road and we can say, well,
calm down and settle down, but they look like they're
the goods man based on what we saw again last night, that.

Speaker 3 (01:37):
Was a really good team that they played against, obviously
one game away from the super Bowl last season.

Speaker 4 (01:45):
Yeah, they they.

Speaker 3 (01:48):
Made the Washington Commanders look like they were one to
two steps slower than what they were moving on Green
Bay side. They moved faster in the offense. Pace wise,
they move faster, running, running their routes eighty eight and
eighty five, you know, up toppy. They were having their

(02:14):
way on the out routes and attacking the flats. Jordan
Love looked efficient. He looks comfortable, He looks confident.

Speaker 4 (02:25):
I was.

Speaker 3 (02:26):
I was having a conversation at the American Ale House
last evening with my buddy Leon and my buddy will Le.
We were talking. Yeah, we were talking about how Jordan
Love's numbers weren't gotty numbers. But nonetheless, it looked like

(02:46):
a gotty performance and almost to the tune of you're
now going to he has played himself in two weeks
time into the common conversation of the MVP, and and
the question now becomes, when you start to achieve at

(03:09):
that level where you are now entering into the conversation
of MVP with the likes of the Lamar Jackson's and
the Josh Allens of the world and the Joe Burrows
of the world. Does he continue to go up? Is
his trajectory still continuing to go up? Does he start

(03:30):
to cool off and level off? Or does he fall
off of a cliff? And does he knows dive? These
are the things that make sport and make you know,
obviously the NFL and more particular so interesting and so
captivating and and so intriguing because you're seeing a team

(03:54):
that looks as though, I mean, this is as fast
start in terms of how a team can look as
as I've seen. I mean, I think about how maybe
like the old Rams looked, and and how how fast
they looked on the field, and how they were moving around,

(04:16):
and how exciting it was to see, you know, Kurt
Warner sling it around to Tory Holton Isaac Bruce and
Ozakim and all those guys. You know, I'm not calling
this a Rams Super Bowl run team esque, but this, this,
this offense looks explosive. And to have an explosive offense

(04:41):
and a quarterback looking as competent as as Jordan Love
is looking, I mean, he even came up out of
the pocket and ran one point in time, ran the
dude over.

Speaker 4 (04:53):
So he's not frail. He's not a fragile guy.

Speaker 3 (04:57):
And and that showed he ran straight through a defensive back,
turned him around. Didn't look good, wasn't a good look
on a defender out there, But nonetheless, that's what he did.

Speaker 4 (05:08):
And that's just I haven't.

Speaker 3 (05:10):
Even transitioned into talking about the defense jonas well, and
that's scary.

Speaker 5 (05:14):
And I also think to your point when you mentioned,
you know, he's already in the MVP conversation, and again
people could go, well, it's just you know, it's two
games in. Those are kind of significant wins. I mean,
we're a week into when the season kicked off a
year last from last week the opener between Dallas and Philly,
we're a week in, they're two and oh, and they're

(05:35):
two and oh, as you mentioned against playoff teams from
a year ago, and one of those teams was a
game away from the Super Bowl. One of those other
teams is a division rival, and the year before was
a game away from a super Bowl. So it's like,
this is not just nothing, and it's a well, just
two games. And on the MVP conversation, if you go
to DraftKings right now, Josh Allen is the favorite, Lamar

(05:55):
Jackson is second, and Jordan Love is third at seven
to one in the odds to win the MVP. So
I look at it and I go, this is not
just your well it's two and zero, everybody relaxed. No,
there's something there. And you not only didn't get to
the to the defense when things start to chill out

(06:17):
a little bit weatherwise in Green Bay and starts to
get cold, and maybe you can't rely on that downfield
passing like you have been the first couple of games
of the year.

Speaker 2 (06:26):
Oh, don't worry.

Speaker 5 (06:26):
About You got Josh Jacobs who's just gonna wear people
out and just wear people down and grind people down
if he stays healthy for the entirety of the season. Now,
Jordan Love did talk after the game with Kaylie Hartung
of Amazon Prime about where the Green Bay Packers are
the start to the season against these two contenders, and

(06:47):
a sounded like.

Speaker 6 (06:48):
This, ten days in to this NFL season, you're two
and zero against divisional contenders. How did you do it tonight?

Speaker 7 (06:54):
Just team team victories right there, back to back. You know,
defense been dominant, been shutting people down. In offense, been
doing a great job putting up points, and you know,
finishing these games off. But that's a great start to
the season. We just got to keep building on it.

Speaker 6 (07:05):
What impressed you most about the way your defense contained
Je Daniels, the whole offense over there.

Speaker 7 (07:10):
That's a really good offense, and just the way the
defense been flying around. You know, obviously we didn't get
a turnover tonight, but they're hunting that ball and they're
flying around making a lot of plays. So you hold
a good offense like that eighteen points and let us
go go score, we're gonna win those games.

Speaker 5 (07:23):
So you know what else is kind of interesting about
the Packers if you just kept it in division in
the NFC North, And he looked at the storylines for
each organization going into this season, Detroit, it was, well,
they lost their coordinators. How they're going to recover and
that was an awful look. In the postseason, Minnesota was like, well,
they're starting basically a rookie at quarterback.

Speaker 2 (07:44):
Maybe Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 4 (07:45):
Will be the guy.

Speaker 5 (07:46):
They kicked the tires on that, but they decided to
go in a different direction from Sam Dartle and they're
just gonna throw their all their chips into to JJ
McCarthy and develop him. And for the Bears, it was like,
who's gonna fix Kleb They got Ben Johnson, they took
away from the division. For the Packers, we wait until
the last minute and added maybe the best pass rusher
in the league. Like it's none of the storylines are

(08:11):
the same when it comes to the Packers as opposed
to everybody else just in the division. And it was
like they've got their quarterback, they've got their head coach.
That stable offense feels stable. The Jayden Reid injury from
last night, that's unfortunate, but he's going to return. The
word is, you know, it'll probably be November that he
can come back, but there's enough there to where they

(08:32):
can get through with not having Jade Reid, and on
top of it, they added Micah Parsons before the year,
and he's just slowly seeming like he's getting more comfortable
in the system and he's going to take off at
some point.

Speaker 3 (08:43):
Here going and take off. The Micah Parsons effect. The
impact is very real. It is very very real, and
his teammates are seeing the benefits of that. It's one

(09:04):
thing to have to worry about Rashan Gary and I'll
continue to say it, I'll continue to ring his name
out there because he is He's a consummate professional, and
he is a master of his craft, and he is
really good like that is a fine quality football player.
But when you talk about adding a guy like Micah

(09:27):
Parsons to your team and his ability, it doesn't even
look pretty at times, like it's not. He's a very
workmanlike type of football player. When you look at him,
it's not a lot of.

Speaker 4 (09:43):
Flash. Even the way he dresses.

Speaker 3 (09:46):
It's just it's not a lot of flash with the
way he wears his uniform or anything like that. He's
just tremendously effective and impactful.

Speaker 4 (09:56):
With what it is that he's able to do.

Speaker 3 (09:57):
And when you watch him, it's it's very difficult. This
is what makes Micah so special. He's a he's not
what you would say a traditional size defensive end. He's
a little smaller, he's a little shorter, but what he

(10:19):
lacks in in length and height uh and and like
size and like you know, weight wise, he's very deceptively big.
Like he's got big features, like big fingers, he's got
big quad muscles like he's.

Speaker 4 (10:37):
He's a very very.

Speaker 3 (10:40):
Very I would say past rushing perfectly built. And and
it's because he's able to generate so much power and
so much torque when he takes off from the ball.
And it's amazing to watch the way he's able to
get into the blockers that are on on on the

(11:01):
offensive side of the line. It's almost impossible to block
him one on one.

Speaker 4 (11:08):
I don't care. Tonzo had had had a time with him.
Uh vea? Uh what what what vea? Is that? How
you said?

Speaker 3 (11:16):
I want to say, who's uh for? For uh Detroit?
What's his name? Come on the big the big time
lineman for them on the right side. Tripping out, I'm
tripping out. You just threw a lineman at me.

Speaker 4 (11:32):
I don't know what the right the right the right tackle?
Geez oh Lee helps you out.

Speaker 2 (11:41):
Act like you said, anyway, who's Vegas.

Speaker 4 (11:44):
I'm thinking of Vega up here at Penn State. I'm
in the Penn State state of mind.

Speaker 3 (11:50):
Anyway, here's the thing, and that that was kind of
that could have been considered to be out of bounds
because they're they're I believe they're both polonies.

Speaker 2 (11:57):
Yeah, you don't want to smoking.

Speaker 3 (11:59):
You gotta be real careful these days and all that stuff.
But I digress. Uh, you know, I think what again,
what makes it so difficult to deal with him is
because he's already lower to the ground because of that
lack of height and length of just a traditional defensive end.

(12:23):
He's quicker, and he's faster than a traditional defensive end,
and he is tremendously powerful and strong. So you can't
use one guy. And if you do use one guy,
he's going to pressure you. It doesn't show up in

(12:44):
the stat sheet. Sometimes the hurries shows up. It's starting
to they keep track of the hurries, but it doesn't
always show up the impact that he has when they
have to use two dudes to basically rest, which he
was a wrestler, big time state wrestler in high school.

(13:05):
He just understands leverage. He understands quick to to you know,
slow slow to quick pacing movement leverage. I mean, he's
just he really is a complete football player. I know
it sounds like I'm beatching him. I know we were
accused of that the other day, but I gotta be
honest with you, if you don't think for two seconds

(13:28):
that that energizes that entire defensive unit. And you see
how fast they're playing, and they're able to play faster
because they're able to use more guys in coverage and
sit back and read. They neutralize what Jaydeon Daniels does best,
which is be mobile, get downfield when he needs to

(13:51):
draw the defense up to the line of scrimmage because
he's running the ball when you sit back and wait
for him to throw it. And they were able to
new lies get pressure on him with four guys most
of the game, and allow for those linebackers and secondary
guys to sit back in those his own coverages and
those coverages and wait for them.

Speaker 4 (14:12):
So you're minimizing.

Speaker 3 (14:14):
What Jaydon Daniels is able to do best because the
linebackers are just sitting there waiting on them.

Speaker 4 (14:19):
And if you want to try to throw the ball.

Speaker 3 (14:21):
You gotta throw the ball quickly because basically it's either
Micah that's going to be breathing on your neck or
it's going to be another defender that's breathing on your
neck because they're not getting the type of attention that
Mike is getting and it's allowing for them to get
home to the quarterback. So this has been a tremendous
pickup for Green Bay, and I think it really has

(14:43):
has really made this taking this this Green Bay Packers
team and defensive unit to a whole another level in
terms of what they're they're going to be capable of doing.
And you saw a play out last night.

Speaker 5 (14:57):
So Micah was on the postgame show the Amazon Prime
and of course the crowd was chanting thank you Jerry
as he as he came up to the desk to
talk with the guys. But he spoke with them. He
also gave a little shout out to Andrew Whitworth, who's
been a mentor to him as well. Too much like you.
Here was Micah post.

Speaker 3 (15:15):
Game talk to me about the process and how much
time you spent just learning to playbook and make me
get an adjusted.

Speaker 8 (15:21):
Yeah, you know, first, as soon as I you know
the trade happened. I was like, man, well you want
me to come in, I'm super ecstatic. And then the
second process is are you willing to come in early?
Are you willing to stay later? And I just think
it's fun when I learned new things, I get like excited.

Speaker 2 (15:33):
When a DC comes.

Speaker 8 (15:35):
Up to me, it's like, we're excited to have you.
I got so many ways I want to use you,
but you got to learn this. Like I'm like, all right,
we'll hurry up.

Speaker 4 (15:41):
So you know, it just gets me excited. I'm excited.
And Jeff's a hell of a play far for you, Michael,
with everything that happened in the offseason, how happy are
you to just be back on a football field, this
football field, playing the game.

Speaker 2 (15:53):
That you love?

Speaker 4 (15:54):
Yeah, you know that's that's the relief part. I'm finally
able to be me.

Speaker 8 (15:57):
Everyone knows this my happy place and they're like, yo,
just looks like you having fun out there. And I
just truly didn't blessed having fun with no he was
reaching out to me. I was like, bro, I'm just happy,
I free, like I can finally play great mentor mind
reached out to me.

Speaker 4 (16:10):
The whole process I'm so thankful this dude.

Speaker 8 (16:12):
B y'all don't understand how happy I am just been
playing football.

Speaker 7 (16:16):
What advice did he give you through all that?

Speaker 8 (16:18):
They just told me every time, stay patient, it's going
to come.

Speaker 2 (16:23):
Don't what's you feeling like?

Speaker 9 (16:24):
Sometimes he's like, how are you feeling? I see it's
getting crazy out there.

Speaker 4 (16:28):
And then when all passed through, he was like, now
just don't be great. Do what you do and I said,
that's the easy part.

Speaker 5 (16:34):
So they are currently the Green Bay Packers, the favorites
to win the NFC on.

Speaker 4 (16:39):
Draft Kings go go.

Speaker 5 (16:41):
Not a bad start man to two teams like that
in five days.

Speaker 2 (16:46):
They're feeling it out in Green Bay.

Speaker 4 (16:49):
I mean they should. Good for them.

Speaker 5 (16:51):
Play by the way, you know, the fact that you
know you threw it all Lee had didn't even sip.

Speaker 2 (17:00):
A centimeter of booze. I saw that, not a boe.

Speaker 4 (17:05):
I saw that.

Speaker 3 (17:06):
He said that, Do you buy the story that he's
throwing out there?

Speaker 2 (17:15):
Oh no, no, no, no no.

Speaker 4 (17:21):
I mean he was acting.

Speaker 3 (17:22):
I could you know how you once you really get
to know somebody, when you when you read their words,
you can hear their voices in certain situations, I could
hear the happiness, the the the joy, and his voice
as he typed those words of him not partaking in

(17:48):
buying a drink, having a drink, or getting any sneakers
or whatever it.

Speaker 4 (17:52):
Is that he was saying. I could I could hear
at least saying it. But then.

Speaker 3 (18:01):
But then I stopped and I said to myself, this
is Lee. So whatever it is that I heard, and
I thought, and I came to a conclusion of I
have to change it.

Speaker 4 (18:13):
To the opposite because he's lying.

Speaker 5 (18:17):
It's like fading somebody who's a bad gambler. It's like, hey,
here's are my picks. It's like, okay, I'm just gonna
go ahead and take the other side, just to play
it safe.

Speaker 2 (18:25):
Yeah, y'all to truly.

Speaker 3 (18:27):
Believe that Lead the Lap has an alter ego and
he I think I've said this before. I think he's
a homeless dude and.

Speaker 4 (18:39):
He's a drunk.

Speaker 3 (18:42):
Damn but Lee, but Lead to Lap the person like Lee,
the one that we get more often than not.

Speaker 4 (18:49):
It's just easy. He's a cool dude, like down to
earth loving dude.

Speaker 3 (18:54):
And I bet you his alter ego was watching that
Green Bay Packers game drunk as hell. Oh yeah, hell ye,
I'm talking just juiced up and pumped up talking about
go Pack Go for the entire duration of the game
with a Green Bay Packers jersey on while the real

(19:16):
lead to Lap, the one that that really has told
us he's not going to do that and partake in
drinking and all those things. He was there and he
was sober.

Speaker 4 (19:26):
Because that's how he's not lying. He's not lying.

Speaker 3 (19:29):
Because it's his alter ego that gets drunk. It's not Lee,
that's that's the thing.

Speaker 2 (19:36):
And what was it? It was Walt, right, Walt's his
alter ego?

Speaker 4 (19:39):
Is that what we call? Is that what we named him?
His name was Walt. That's a great name for him.

Speaker 5 (19:44):
By the way, Lee Lee is a fun, loving good dude.
Everybody gets along with him. Couldn't set and put him
in any setting anywhere on the planet. He can find
a conversation to be had. A really good sociating social guy.
Oh she's dead now anyway, matter uh, social guy. Walt
is wearing a pair of dickies with holes in them,

(20:06):
two different pairs of shoes. He's got four t shirts
and a sweater he pulled out of a fire that
he started with some crystal mass under under a freeway overpass.
He doesn't have a mattress. He's got two pizza boxes
folded out that he sleeps on at night, and he's
got aluminum cans, washes and in public and while he's there,

(20:30):
he scoops up the change that people throw in there
because they think it's good luck.

Speaker 2 (20:34):
Yeah, like that's that's Walt.

Speaker 4 (20:37):
So you or your safety.

Speaker 5 (20:42):
So you're saying that, saying that Walt was also watching Smash, Yes,
Walt was on one.

Speaker 10 (20:50):
When did this conversation happens?

Speaker 9 (21:00):
Sounds great?

Speaker 4 (21:00):
Now?

Speaker 5 (21:03):
Well, congratulations, Lee's fired out. The Packers look off some hey.

Speaker 4 (21:07):
Pack game Man.

Speaker 4 (22:10):
Be and his mom is our outside. They're outside hanging out.

Speaker 2 (22:13):
You got deer out the window.

Speaker 4 (22:15):
Yeah, they're outside. They're doing their thing.

Speaker 2 (22:20):
Oh, come on, they're getting real comfortable over there.

Speaker 3 (22:23):
Come on, man, Oh, they're eating real good back there
is the same. It looks like it. Yeah, looks like
a little young buck. That that's our little young buck.
You know what I mean. He ain't got no big antlers.
He got them little antlers, them little nubby nubs. Then
this little baby girl looks like baby girl. And then
it looks like mom.

Speaker 2 (22:42):
So it looks like they're eating good out there.

Speaker 4 (22:44):
They eat real good good too.

Speaker 2 (22:48):
You pull that sad off off the wall.

Speaker 4 (22:50):
You have you ever had there? Mete? No, have you
ever had there?

Speaker 9 (22:58):
Sure?

Speaker 2 (23:00):
Delicious.

Speaker 4 (23:00):
You made sure.

Speaker 9 (23:01):
Yeah, I've had venison.

Speaker 4 (23:04):
Lorena you said, uh huh, you've had it.

Speaker 9 (23:07):
Yeah, I've had it fresh off the bone.

Speaker 2 (23:09):
She's from Oregon.

Speaker 4 (23:10):
Yeah, I walked into this guy's garage once it was
it was hanging upside down like they just got done,
like draining all the good stuff out of it.

Speaker 2 (23:19):
That's terrible.

Speaker 3 (23:20):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (23:21):
By the way, for anybody from Peter that's listening, I've
never had vedicine very game.

Speaker 9 (23:26):
It tastes like the outdoors.

Speaker 4 (23:28):
I'm out so anyway, So Browns and Ravens.

Speaker 3 (23:33):
Yeah, one of these teams is going to have two losses.

Speaker 2 (23:39):
Yeah, they are.

Speaker 5 (23:40):
It's probably gonna be the Browns based on the betting odds,
which would indicate.

Speaker 4 (23:45):
Based upon their franchise name, Damn Damn.

Speaker 5 (23:51):
By the way, it's nothing better than a two time
of year reminder of what you could have had.

Speaker 2 (23:57):
Like that's that's the best part.

Speaker 4 (23:59):
Uh.

Speaker 5 (23:59):
The Ravens are are eleven and a half point favorites
in this.

Speaker 3 (24:02):
To all of those out there that didn't catch what
Jonah said, you know, for those who may not be aware,
the Ravens did live in Cleveland before departing on Mayflower
trucks to move to Baltimore.

Speaker 5 (24:17):
They was like, oh, man, scumbags, what are they doing?
How could they They.

Speaker 3 (24:21):
Left in the middle of the evening. There was a
young Brady Quinn that was crying, like.

Speaker 5 (24:26):
Shop by the way, that why the there's an NFL network.
I think it's NFL Network did a documentary on the
Browns team that left, and Belichick was the coach, and
they were actually like Belichick had them contending like they
were they were a playoff team and when they left,

(24:48):
just the fans that were crying, they were just trying
to take pieces of I think it was municipal stadiums
where they played at the time, and just to see
how devastated they were. And then they came back. And
but in the midst of them coming back, the team
that left that went to Baltimore ended up winning.

Speaker 2 (25:04):
A super Bowl.

Speaker 5 (25:05):
It's just it's it's brutal, man. But you've got this
matchup coming up this weekend. You know, Baltimore is gonna
be pissed. They're gonna have a red ass. You know,
Derrick Henry based on his fumble at the end of
that game, which is crucial in the loss for the Ravens.
He's gonna have a red ass and then you know.

Speaker 4 (25:24):
Each other.

Speaker 5 (25:25):
Grant Delpit, the safety for the Cleveland Browns, was asked
how difficult it is to tackle Derrick Henry, and he
says it's not hard. Uh, he's uh, let everybody know,
it's not that hard to take him down. Derrick Henry
heard the quote, said he had a quote we'll see
on Sunday. Jerry Judy not impressed with the Baltimore Ravens

(25:50):
secondary Kyle Hamilton. Hamilton was quoted as saying, yeah, listen,
I don't really get the bulletin board material. I don't
really get it, but all right, so I'll the Browns credit.
They're probably looking at this going everything stacked against us.
Let's go ahead and let it fly a little bit
as we get ready for this game. But the idea
that it's not that hard to take down Derek Henry

(26:11):
and I know that. Grand Delpit and I forget who
it was, laid a good lick on Derek Henry last
year in the game.

Speaker 2 (26:19):
The Baltimore Ravens do not.

Speaker 5 (26:20):
Seem like the team that I would want to see
following a loss like that last week.

Speaker 3 (26:26):
A really good team man, it's top one, two three team,
top three team in the AFC, and they're they're super loaded,
and they took a loss like where they should have won,
I mean, or could have won, had a nice lead, and.

Speaker 4 (26:46):
They just they allowed it to get away.

Speaker 3 (26:48):
A boy not finishing the game, I mean, a couple mishaps,
I mean, kick a man while he's down. Obviously, Derek
Henry had an untimely fumble that took place in the
game kind of helped shift them mental mother game. But
here's the thing, when you're talking about tackling guys. If
you're a tackler, Derrick Henry can use that as motivation,

(27:09):
and he should use it as motivation. But those those
defenders are going to also use their motivation because in
the end, should a guy be saying it's hard to
take Derrick Henry down, just the Gays Derrick Henry up?

Speaker 4 (27:25):
Is it?

Speaker 3 (27:25):
Should the defender be sitting there saying that I don't
want to tackle Derrick Henry because of how big he is.
I don't think that A person like you know how
DeAndre Hopkins said in uh in Hard Knocks the one
time I fear God Like, Yeah.

Speaker 2 (27:43):
That's it, that's it.

Speaker 4 (27:46):
Who's At'angelo hall? The Angelo Hall?

Speaker 3 (27:49):
I fear God Homie, Like that's it and it's a
Warriors game.

Speaker 4 (27:55):
And I always felt like it was.

Speaker 3 (27:57):
It was way more fun to play against Eddie George
and Jerome Bettis and those guys than it was to
play against guys like Wark Done, you know those more
like a who Charlie Garner, you know those type of guys.
It was way more fun to play against the Eddie Georges.
Like Eddie George was probably the Derrick Henry of our time, and.

Speaker 4 (28:22):
I enjoyed hitting him, really, oh, I enjoyed.

Speaker 5 (28:26):
It was like same running style though, I.

Speaker 3 (28:30):
Mean think about it, both very very explosive, very very
fast at times. I would I would venture to say
maybe Eddie George might have even been more elusive in
his running style than maybe even dere Derrek Henry is.

Speaker 4 (28:50):
Derrick Henry is a North South runner.

Speaker 5 (28:52):
I am at Eddie George was six three five. I
didn't realize, Yes, I knew he was tall, I didn't
realize he was that big bro.

Speaker 3 (28:59):
He's enormous and yoked He's still yoked up today as
the coach. His leg muscles his I mean, dude was
yoked up. But I always want I always was seeking
to try to knock the s out of the bigger backs,
like I wanted to try to knock the s out

(29:22):
of a Jerome bettist. All the bus wheels on the
bus go round and round. We're gonna see today. We're
gonna see today, you know. And and so to me,
I like these types of exchanges, because what's gonna.

Speaker 4 (29:39):
What's wrong with you? Man?

Speaker 9 (29:43):
And you've talked about it before you you played, And.

Speaker 3 (29:46):
That's why and and that's why Jonas doesn't need to
be Mike all Stott is a great one. The problem
here's the problem with Mike Allstock. The problem with Mike
Allstock was that he used to drag.

Speaker 4 (30:00):
He used to do.

Speaker 3 (30:01):
Running drills where he pulled cars. Like he would hold
the ball and pull cars. And that was his his
part of his training regiment was he would they would
hook him up to a harness, he'd hold the ball
and he would pull cars.

Speaker 2 (30:18):
My arms would come off my tour. So if I
did that, literally removed from my body.

Speaker 3 (30:22):
If I tried that, hey, bro, So when you hit Allstock,
when you hit Allstot, he he would lower his center
of gravity in a way where if you didn't hit
him just right, that pulled the car kicks in. And
so you don't want to get into a tugging match.

Speaker 4 (30:46):
You don't want in West.

Speaker 3 (30:48):
Palm keep going, you don't you don't want to get
into a tugging match with with Mike Alstott when he's running.

Speaker 4 (30:55):
So it's it's very you got to be very, very.

Speaker 3 (31:00):
Intentional when you hit a Mike Alstot because he's just
that was just a that is a one of one
running back right there. And not to get off topic,
but I mean he because he he really didn't have
any weak points on his body, Like you can find
weak points on certain guys and always say, if you
show me a guy with shoulders, I'll show you I

(31:22):
can take him down.

Speaker 2 (31:23):
I mean the state.

Speaker 5 (31:24):
Steve Atwater on Christian m'coye is like one of the
great plays of the history of the NFL.

Speaker 4 (31:30):
Let me tell you something.

Speaker 3 (31:31):
When you can knock a guy on his ass when
his shoulder pads are down and they're parallel to the ground,
you are what they would call an assassin of a hitter.
You are an assassin for the most part. You want
to be able to try to take. You never want

(31:54):
to really hit a guy straight on, that's first and foremost.
You always want to attack from angles. And then when
you attack from the angles, you gotta attack. I always say,
you got to attack the balance zone of a ball carrier.
And that's why I never you know, I had I
had the fortunate.

Speaker 4 (32:11):
Fortunate.

Speaker 3 (32:12):
I guess I was fortunate to have a dad who
showed us a lot of film and and and watching
the film, he would always say, look at where look
at where they're making contact.

Speaker 4 (32:24):
Look at where they're making contact.

Speaker 3 (32:26):
So if it's a big back, even if it's a
little back, but little backs are so easy to like
knock down. You just got to get to them and
don't have them make you miss, whereas a big back
isn't going to make you miss. But it's like when
you make that contact, you gotta you gotta contend with
stiff arms that may come out.

Speaker 4 (32:44):
That's a strong arm. His arm may be just as
long as.

Speaker 3 (32:47):
Yours, so you may not even be able to get
your hands on him because he literally kept you away
from his body because of how much longer his arm
is than you. There's just all these different elements that
you have to take into play. It's so technical and
it's so scientific because you have to run the angle
in your head. You got to run all of the

(33:09):
things that the unknowns that could possibly take place while
making your approach to a guy like a Derrick Henry.
But I'll say this, I always love playing against big backs.
I take a big back and go to war with
a big back in the game any day over them
scatbacks because they can hide behind linemen, different things like that.

(33:30):
It's just so many different elements that little scatbacks. You
know what they can bring to the table. But you
go up against them big dogs, man, that's like, you know,
that's the clashing of the Titans, and it's like do
you got it or do I have it?

Speaker 4 (33:44):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (33:44):
You know, like Duce Staley hard because he's squat. He
could squat, he could move, and he was strong and
he was quick. It was hard to get to him.
But Deuce McAllister, he was fast, but he was and
you got a bigger target. So always made it fun.

Speaker 1 (34:04):
Be sure to catch live editions of Two Pros and
a Cup of Joe with Brady Quinn, LeVar Errington and
Jonas Knox weekdays at six am Eastern three Am Pacific.

Speaker 5 (34:14):
So even though Brady Quinn is not here, we got
rules on the show, and we got things to get
done on this show. And one of those things we
do during the football season every single Friday is we spread.

Speaker 1 (34:27):
Them five lines, not those kind of lines, five picks,
five spreads. Time for picks against the spread.

Speaker 5 (34:40):
All right, So, Lee, what are we looking at from
last week? Because I got a bone to pick with LeVar, Brady,
you and anybody else that's scoring this cock and meami
season of picks against the spread.

Speaker 10 (34:53):
Yeah, and I can understand why, Jonas. I think I
know where you're going here, but let's go dive into it.
We had Chiefs at Chargers where LeVar started off strong
with a money line bet on the Chargers to upset
the Chiefs, so he got two points there. You had
also taken the Chargers, but not money line, so you
had got only one there, Jonas. Ah, everybody correctly predicted
the Steelers to beat the Jets.

Speaker 9 (35:15):
Brady and LeVar did.

Speaker 10 (35:16):
Take the Broncos to cover eight and a half versus
the Titans. Lions at Packers, everybody took the Packers. Good
job everybody there. Ravens at Bill's money line for both
Brady and LeVar. It was only a point and a
half that the Ravens were favored. That the Bills of
course pulled the upset money line for both Brady and LeVar.

Speaker 9 (35:35):
And then I even threw in here Vikings at Bears
because I put that in.

Speaker 4 (35:39):
Wait, hold on, hold on, I took the Bills.

Speaker 9 (35:42):
You did take Bills money line?

Speaker 2 (35:43):
Oh wow?

Speaker 4 (35:44):
Okay, dang okay.

Speaker 10 (35:46):
And then I even threw in here Vikings at Bears
because I put this into Lee's leftovers.

Speaker 4 (35:51):
On Monday Night.

Speaker 9 (35:51):
So that was a Monday Night game.

Speaker 10 (35:53):
Where the Vikings of course covered versus the Bears. Brady
and LeVar took that. Jonas, you went home with the Bears.
So where we stand right now after only one week,
LeVar is a perfect eight to o Brady six and one,
and Jonas you are at five hundred three and three.

Speaker 4 (36:09):
Oh because I got two points.

Speaker 2 (36:11):
Yeah, this is like, this is the problem.

Speaker 9 (36:14):
Yes, they've knocked luck.

Speaker 2 (36:16):
Congratulations Jonah, thank you. Here's the issue.

Speaker 5 (36:21):
LeVar and Brady have made a mockery of an honest
segment on National Sports Radio, Like this used to be
an honest, real segment where we picked against the spread,
and instead it's turned into the NBA where we're now
not going to deduct points or we're going to reward

(36:42):
players differently if they throw half court shots in because
it won't count against your field for percentage.

Speaker 2 (36:48):
Make it.

Speaker 4 (36:48):
If you miss on a money line, then deduct the point.
How about that.

Speaker 2 (36:53):
I threw that out earlier this week, and no.

Speaker 4 (36:55):
We can implement that. We can implement that. That's fine.

Speaker 9 (36:58):
Can you do this math properly?

Speaker 7 (36:59):
Lee?

Speaker 1 (37:00):
Right?

Speaker 9 (37:00):
I mean yeah we can because they're Yeah, I could
absolutely so.

Speaker 5 (37:02):
For example, if if there's an underdog and you pick
the underdog to win outright, you get two points, but
if you go outright winner and they lose, you lose
a point.

Speaker 4 (37:11):
That's fine.

Speaker 9 (37:12):
Yeah, so basically be losing two points.

Speaker 4 (37:15):
We can implement that. That's fine.

Speaker 9 (37:17):
Yeah, all right, Yeah, I think that's fair enough.

Speaker 4 (37:20):
I had no problem with that.

Speaker 9 (37:22):
All right, Well, I got it.

Speaker 10 (37:24):
I hate to step on your toes here, LeVar, but
we're gonna start off here for Week two, forty nine
Ers at Saints, and you've already delivered your money line
yesterday for this one for the Saints, the Niners are
favorite three, but you have delivered your six picks money
line on the Saints.

Speaker 4 (37:39):
Yeah, I'm money. I'm a money line that picks. Yeah,
I'll stand on a business.

Speaker 5 (37:44):
Boy, What a you imagine like having to go into
the weekend knowing that, like, well, I really did take
the Saints on the money line, Like I really did
that like that.

Speaker 4 (37:56):
And that's gonna and they're gonna win.

Speaker 3 (37:58):
Hard to play in New Orleans, Man, and it's hard
to play with a banged up team that ain't good
to begin with.

Speaker 9 (38:04):
So there you go, Jonas, who do you've got?

Speaker 2 (38:08):
Oh? Man, you guys had too many beignetes at the bar.

Speaker 9 (38:11):
Man, Well, nobody would eat.

Speaker 5 (38:14):
Then I had a whole tram right yeah no, and
you were forced to drink Hurricanes.

Speaker 10 (38:20):
On top of that, forced to drink Yeah, yeah, I
have three Hurricanes.

Speaker 9 (38:25):
Yeah, that all went down to drink.

Speaker 2 (38:30):
It's three yes.

Speaker 9 (38:32):
Right on Drafkings Nighters Minster on the road.

Speaker 2 (38:36):
I'll take Sambran knocks Locks.

Speaker 10 (38:42):
Moving on NFC East Showdown between the Giants and the Cowboys.
Cowboys are four and a half point favorites at home.

Speaker 4 (38:49):
Cowboys will cover.

Speaker 5 (38:52):
Sticks picks, yeah they will.

Speaker 2 (38:55):
I'll take Dallas.

Speaker 4 (39:00):
Knocks Locks.

Speaker 9 (39:01):
You know, Pickens comes to play this time, get some
get some catches. How about this?

Speaker 10 (39:05):
Panthers at Cardinals. Cardinals six and a half point favorites
at home.

Speaker 4 (39:13):
I'm taking Carolina. Beat them about more than six.

Speaker 5 (39:18):
Got them really tempted to take Carolina too. Jeez, this
is a tough one.

Speaker 2 (39:29):
Damn, this is a tough one. I will go. I'll
take Carolina as well too.

Speaker 10 (39:37):
All right, guys, super Bowl rematch here, Eagles at the Chiefs.

Speaker 9 (39:41):
Eagles are a point and a half favorites.

Speaker 5 (39:45):
I'll take Kansas City. Look, when do you get to
see Patrick Mahomes is an underdog, not that much.

Speaker 2 (39:52):
And so I have a rule.

Speaker 5 (39:53):
If Patrick Mahomes is getting points and yes, at home,
I'll take the Chiefs.

Speaker 2 (39:58):
Bounce back spot.

Speaker 3 (39:59):
On a god, you could hit his his his sound good.

Speaker 4 (40:02):
He's taking the Chiefs.

Speaker 2 (40:04):
Knocks locks.

Speaker 4 (40:07):
It's my money line of the week. Second one he.

Speaker 9 (40:12):
Sticks line who on the Chiefs?

Speaker 4 (40:15):
Come on line in the Chiefs?

Speaker 2 (40:19):
Well, then can I have money line the Chiefs too?

Speaker 9 (40:21):
And the Chiefs too?

Speaker 4 (40:22):
What you already put your you already put your your
bad end hold on.

Speaker 9 (40:27):
Brady did this last week so he could so Jodas
gets to do this.

Speaker 5 (40:30):
Okay, hold on a second. So even though they are
a point.

Speaker 4 (40:34):
Now piggyback off of me, they're the underdog.

Speaker 2 (40:37):
It's a point a half.

Speaker 9 (40:39):
So what like you're getting That's what I mean?

Speaker 2 (40:42):
Yeah, so what exactly?

Speaker 9 (40:43):
But Brady did the same thing after this last week.

Speaker 2 (40:46):
This is the problem, man, I told you.

Speaker 4 (40:48):
Guys, this is the problem man, all of you guys.

Speaker 5 (40:54):
If Lee, LeVar and Brady would have just come sat
on daddy's lap, I would have told you how gambling works,
what out works.

Speaker 4 (41:02):
And dangl the hell are you talking about? I look
like sitting on your leg.

Speaker 2 (41:13):
Uh yeah, I'll go money line.

Speaker 5 (41:19):
I'll take if we're heading out points like this and this,
Nickel and Diamond operating knocks.

Speaker 10 (41:24):
Locks, And you know, Brady's gonna just follow suit with
you guys. When I give him these, he's gonna be
picking last. And I will update these as we go.
Falcons at Vikings Sunday Night Football. To cap it all off,
Vikings at home or three and a half point favorites.

Speaker 5 (41:38):
Atlanta getting three and a half points, Vikings will cover knocks.

Speaker 1 (41:43):
Locks, sticks, picks.

Speaker 2 (41:48):
Just so much going on. It's a lot, that's just
so much going on? Is that Italy that's it for
week two.

Speaker 5 (41:55):
There we go, h there we got therese are our
picks against the spread for Week two in the NFL.
