I mean, I think we've all played on teams before
where you know, you get the sense and just a
feeling at the end of the game that you're going
to find a way of winning the game. So it's
you know, I mean, I remember our magical year in
Denver back in twenty eleven, where you know, at the
end of the game, it didn't matter ifields our defense

making a play, didn't matter if it was t bow
finding a miraculous way of making a player Matt Prater
hitting a sixty plus yard field goal, which back.

Then was very uncommon.

There was just this belief and thought that if it
was close, we'd find a way in the end, like
they'd falter, they they'd fade, And that's real. And so
credit to Ben Johnson in his first year to be
able to kind of build together this camaraderie amongst the
players in the locker room to start to have it
and start to believe it. But they have to do it.

And that's the thing, like you know, those wins and
wins like last night, it's something that you stack for
the future because you think back, like, yeah, I believe
in Jake, Like I know if if you're Caleb Williams,
you don't feel the need to press to have to
go down there and get a touchdown.

Kicker can make it under the clutch, Like I know
he'll be able to deliver it, you know, if we
put him in a position to do it. And I
think if you just look at, for example, how the
Bears played last night, like that was a game of
winning football. I know it was back and forth a
little bit, but the reality is they didn't turn the
football over, you know, statistically speaking, like you can look

at the run game. I thought they've ran the football
a lot better than they have at least DeAndre Swift
was a lot more impactful. And in that sense, I
thought Caleb Williams and the way he played kind of
managed things too, in particularly on third down, Like there
was there was times where I was watching thinking all right, Like,
if this Bear's team can show up every week, they're
gonna be a tough out and we'll see where the

chips fall at the end of season. But that's the
question is are they building something or is this going
to be kind of this up and down roller coaster
ride the rest of the season. My bet is that
this is the start of something special in Chicago, because
if they get that effort, that performance out of this group,
I think you could, you know, throw them into that

a team that could be playing for a wild card
spot when it's all said and done.

I just wanted to enjoy the compliments to the Chicago
Bears that have not been heard on this show at
all over the past four years.

Of a plug five week. I mean, well, what a
poor winner, what a poor winner?

Look, I mean I think that Caleb Williams that whole thing.
There's still a work in progress there. He's inaccurate at times.
But the one thing that helped last night is all
of a sudden, they found their running game, Like DeAndre
Swift that might have been the best game he's had
as a Bear. And the defense actually showed up up,

created turnovers and gave them an opportunity down the stretch
to win that game. So it was a nice win.
That's back to back road wins for them.
Speaker 2 (06:09):
I mean the one turnover was kind of a giveaway.
Not not so much they generated a turnover.
Speaker 6 (06:15):
It's just you don't think striking fear into that Washington
Commander's offense.
Speaker 2 (06:19):
It was just it was it was a miss, you know,
mishandled exchange, mishandled exchange. I mean it's I mean, it
was very very you know, opportunistic for them to get it.

It wasn't like they just let them get the ball.
They did get it, so but I mean they didn't
force that fumble though.

Did that game? Did that game tell you more? I
guess did you have more questions coming out of that game?
Or more questions coming out of what the hell was
that from the Bills last night? I think the Bills
are because I had a weird feeling like guy, you know,
any given Sunday or in this case, Monday, you know,
somebody could get you. But they didn't look good man.

And that's multiple weeks in a row they haven't looked good.
And I don't want to go hyperbole, but you know,
for being fair, they also didn't look very good for
three and a half quarters against Baltimore to open up
the season. It just, you know, I don't think it's
panic mode, but it is kind of interesting that here
we are Week six and the Patriots are leading that division.

It's football, and when you look at how these teams
begin to settle in to the season and guys are
getting there their season legs and stuff like that, you
know you're going to see better games, better football seemingly.
I mean, you would hope that you're going to see

more competition. You're not going to just see teams run
over other teams. I mean, again, I've been saying it
all along. I haven't seen a what is the dominant
team in the NFL this year? I mean, I know
you keep bringing up the Colts, but I have not
seen a this is the dominant team that's in the

NFL right now. So I can't say I was I
was not surprised, especially the fact the way that Bjon
Robinson got in tune with the game and the way
he was playing. I wasn't surprised at the outcome. But
with that being said, it does lend to the conversation

of what are the Buffalo Bills. I mean, this type
of a loss, it just it just begs the question
what type of team are they? Are they the team
that is going to find ways to win or dominate
a team, or are they this team that's going to be,
you know, inconsistent as the season goes on. I think
it's too early to tell what that is, but I

will say it's a quality win for Atlanta and maybe
this is just as much about Atlanta improving. Pennix protected
the ball, Bijon Rode Robinson was effective both both in
the run game and in the passing game. So I
don't I don't find this to be a shocker if
you have those guys on the same page.

Bijon's probably the most underrated running back where I feel
like if he was on a team that was a contender,
we talked about him like a potential MVP candidate, that's
how talented he is. But again, that's what we'll see
what Atlanta can roll into because they are a young team.
I mean the combination of Bijon and Drake London in

regards to distributing them the football that is the entirety
of the offense in Atlanta. So it's fun to watch,
you know, is it sustainable? They have to have more
guys step up and help out back to the bills.

It's interesting.

If we were looking at a playoffs snapshot right now,
the number one overall.
Speaker 4 (09:48):
Seed in the AFC would be Indy.
Speaker 3 (09:50):
You'd have Pitt, New England and LAC would represent your
top four seeds. Buffalo would be a wildcard, Jacksonville will
be a wildcard, and Denver would be a wildcard.

Just how he drew it up, it will be pretty
pretty uh competitive, that's a that's it's just.
Speaker 3 (10:07):
Kind of crazy, right Like, no Kansas City, no Baltimore,
no Cincinnati.
Speaker 6 (10:14):
Basically whoever we picked him and out of the AFC
to go to the super Bowl will not make the
playoffs if it started today.
Speaker 3 (10:19):
Crazy, which which again I mean and and just to
hear like Buffalo as a wildcard compared to New England,
it's I know, I don't think that's gonna be the
case when it's all said and done.
Speaker 4 (10:30):
I think Buffalo will once will eventually win the AFCAS.

But I mean, it's it's gonna be kind of tight,
and there's some teams that I think there's a great
disparity between the Titans, and we'll get into them, and
obviously the Jets and Dolphins and the Browns and other
teams who have really really struggled and I don't think
they're gonna figure it out. I don't see many wins
on the horizon. So there's gonna be a lot of halves,

and there's a be have nots. Then a couple of
teams kind of battling for those those wildcard spots. But
I don't think Buffalo is one of them. It's just
you see a performance like that last night, and you
see uncharacteristic things too. You see Josh Allen pressing and
forcing the football and you know, making kind of those
like bad mistakes he used to make, I don't know, maybe.
Speaker 4 (11:14):
Three years ago, like are the things like rear.
Speaker 3 (11:17):
It's ugly headed and I know it's one game, so
I'm not trying to make a ton out of it.
But I think when you when we sit back and watch,
and especially for all those gamblers out there or fantasy players,
you remember it because you go, all right, they've got
that in their system, like it's a new year and
you're kind of evaluating the first five, six to seven games.
You know what this team is or what it is,
(11:38):
and like what their identity is. And you see that
and you just go, oh, they're still doing that. Huh,
all right, well, I guess like that's you know, that's
one of those roads if they have a tough road game.
Not sure I feel as good betting on them, you know,
not sure I feel as good going to my fantasy
matchup with that team based on what we saw last
night versus Atlanta.
Speaker 6 (11:55):
LaVar made the point and he mentioned it, you know,
there's no great team, no dominant team. And I think
you know, Prisco was making the point about college football,
well there's no great team, and you push back with
Ohio State, which is the obvious answer. I don't know
that there's an obvious answer in the NFL, Like I
don't know who the great team is. If for a
league that wants parody, congratulations, you got it, because last

night was exactly that to where Atlanta could beat Buffalo
and it wasn't really all that the Bucks.
Speaker 4 (12:22):
But that's just me. You the Bucks of the team
I think have been dominant the whole season.
Speaker 1 (12:27):
I wouldn't give any team.
Speaker 6 (12:28):
And then even but look at the injuries they're dealing
with now like that.
Speaker 3 (12:32):
Injuries are part of it. But I just think you
to me, you look at the Bucks. They have been
the best team in the NFL so far the season
and they only loss is what to Philly within one score?
Speaker 6 (12:44):
Yeah, yeah, I think so. And they also you know,
and a lot of their other wins came down to
the wire. I think this last week was the first
win of the season that they didn't win on the
final possession.
Speaker 3 (12:55):
But that's also part of you know, the NFL, like
these games are always gonna be close. I don't domination based
on all they're blowing teams out like we saw the
Colts do that for We'll give us a bunch of
bad teams.
Speaker 4 (13:06):
That's rare in the NFL. They're usually tighter games.
Speaker 2 (13:09):
So it to with the dominant not with the dominant teams.
When when you have a dominant team, like throughout the history,
whether it's the Greatest Show on Turf for the latest
with the Kansas City Chiefs when they had to kill,
they were blowing teams out and and I listen, I
get it. There there's going to be tight games when
you're in the league. Like, I get that, no no

argument here. But they're winning games. I get that. But
I don't do not equit winning to dominance. I I equate.

Comparing like an all time greatest team to you know,
the Bucks.
Speaker 2 (13:44):
So far this year, well, I mean, I just it's
just an example. But again, like I said, the latest
example would be when Kansas City Chiefs were and and
we'll always they won.

A Super Bowl. One of the greatest teams.

I mean, I'm not saying the Bucks of the eighty
five Bears, but they've been the most dominant seems so.

I wouldn't say, you know, I say they're they're the
most successful. They're having success. The Colts are having success.
But I just don't see anybody that is a dominant
team in the league this year.

and running up the score, it seemed like, and then
they got to the postseason and got waxed by Washington.
It just feels like this year, good luck man, Like

i think college football is more, tribal it's more cultural
than any other. Sport and we can call it professional
sport however you want to describe where college football's.

Okay people attach a really, important amazing part of their
life to that school because of the maturation process that
happens through. It so there's just a more a stronger
feeling towards that, school towards their alma. Mater and SO

For you, know we just talked About Brian callahan getting
fired with The Tennessee titans when he signed that, contract
when he decided to become the head coach of The Tennessee.
TITANS i guarantee you right now all the thoughts going
through his head are drastically different than what was said to,

him what he was thinking going into it less than
two years. Ago AND i think when you've got the
perspective of again a coach who has played, there been,
there and he goes back to his alma, mater for,
example in this, case it helps him understand all the
powers that, be what that fan base is going to be,

just so many things that it makes it a bit
easier in. Ways but also it helps you get off

a guy From, Columbus ohio who Watched John, cooper who
was A southern who come up to The, midwest and
it just felt like it was never gonna. Work John
cooper was a really good, coach won a lot of football,
games shine. Coach he's An hall Of fame coach by
the way in college, football but he.

Ultimately couldn't Beat michigan enough he ultimately.

Couldn't win enough bowl games and Get Ohio state to
where it needed to, go and Watched Jim trestle when
he was able to do.

understood the.

Landscape LIKE i was there on a recruiting visit when
he walked Into Saint John's arena and he's literally said
to the, Crowd we're gonna make you PROUD x amount.

Of, days which were the days leading up to that
game Against.

Michigan like he knew right out the gate what he
needed to do and what he needed to, say and
then he catched the world on. FIRE i don't think
his first, year but but after, that it's it became that.
Right so my general point, is would that rule be
a good fit For Penn. State of, course you, KNOW
i think you look at what he's done every third

year he's been with a college, Program, Temple, baylor Now.
Nebraska you, know his first year five and. Seven you,
know next year was seven and. SIX i believe now
the five to one and when you really look at their,
schedule they could be eleven and one with the way
this thing's going so far and what and what their
schedule looks.

Up AND i know it didn't work with The Carolina,

has hasn't been able to beat a top twenty five
team since he's gotten To, Nebraska, like he hasn't been
able to win that kind of big. Game and that's
exactly the issue with Why James franklin is no longer.

then it became an issue of you, know losing THE,
ucla losing The northwest or kind of a snowball. Effect

that played For Joe. Paterno you didn't see that with
With Coach. Franklin you would see some guys From Coach
franklin's days of coaching, there but there was not a
oh my, gosh like there's like one, hundred two, hundred
you know, whatever it, is like crazy amount of lettermen

that are on the. Sideline, recently they there's been a,
REAL i, guess a real action to try to create
that and bring guys. BACK i don't know that you
would have that problem With Matt. Rule And i'm not
sure how The franklin The franklin former players would view

it or see, it how they would handle, things or
how they're going to handle. Things BUT i know for,
certain you, know guys from The Joe paterno era would
probably come. Back they would come back. Around there's a
strong possibility that supporters Of Joe. Paterno and if you

know The Penn state, POLITICS i Call Penn State. Rome
you have The, senate you have you, know you have The,
emperor you, know you have The caesar or whatever you.
Have you have a lot of different levels of people
doing things and positions of power or positions of, privilege

up At Penn. State and a lot of people are,
gatekeepers and so it gets pretty interesting being able to
navigate from one place to another without somebody.

very very, limited just because of the intensity of the fan.

players in the locker room to start to have it
and start to believe it. But they have to do it.

And that's the thing, like you know, those wins and
wins like last night, it's something that you stack for
the future because you think back, like, yeah, I believe
in Jake, Like I know if if you're Caleb Williams,
you don't feel the need to press to have to
go down there and get a touchdown.

think if you just look at, for example, how the

football over, you know, statistically speaking, like you can look

at the run game. I thought they've ran the football
a lot better than they have at least DeAndre Swift
was a lot more impactful. And in that sense, I
thought Caleb Williams and the way he played kind of
managed things too, in particularly on third down, Like there
was there was times where I was watching thinking all right, Like,
if this Bear's team can show up every week, they're
gonna be a tough out and we'll see where the

chips fall at the end of season. But that's the
question is are they building something or is this going
to be kind of this up and down roller coaster
ride the rest of the season. My bet is that
this is the start of something special in Chicago, because
if they get that effort, that performance out of this group,
I think you could, you know, throw them into that

a team that could be playing for a wild card
spot when it's all said and done.

Bears that have not been heard on this show at

of a sudden, they found their running game, Like DeAndre
Swift that might have been the best game he's had
as a Bear. And the defense actually showed up up,

created turnovers and gave them an opportunity down the stretch
to win that game. So it was a nice win.
That's back to back road wins for them.

I mean the one turnover was kind of a giveaway.

It's just you don't think striking fear into that Washington
Commander's offense.

It was just it was it was a miss, you know,
mishandled exchange, mishandled exchange. I mean it's I mean, it
was very very you know, opportunistic for them to get it.

They did get it, so but I mean they didn't
force that fumble though.

Did that game? Did that game tell you more? I
guess did you have more questions coming out of that game?

that from the Bills last night? I think the Bills
are because I had a weird feeling like guy, you know,
any given Sunday or in this case, Monday, you know,
somebody could get you. But they didn't look good man.

And that's multiple weeks in a row they haven't looked good.
And I don't want to go hyperbole, but you know,
for being fair, they also didn't look very good for
three and a half quarters against Baltimore to open up
the season. It just, you know, I don't think it's
panic mode, but it is kind of interesting that here
we are Week six and the Patriots are leading that division.

It's football, and when you look at how these teams
begin to settle in to the season and guys are
getting there their season legs and stuff like that, you
know you're going to see better games, better football seemingly.
I mean, you would hope that you're going to see

more competition. You're not going to just see teams run
over other teams. I mean, again, I've been saying it
all along. I haven't seen a what is the dominant
team in the NFL this year? I mean, I know
you keep bringing up the Colts, but I have not
seen a this is the dominant team that's in the

NFL right now. So I can't say I was I
was not surprised, especially the fact the way that Bjon
Robinson got in tune with the game and the way
he was playing. I wasn't surprised at the outcome. But
with that being said, it does lend to the conversation

of what are the Buffalo Bills. I mean, this type
of a loss, it just it just begs the question
what type of team are they? Are they the team
that is going to find ways to win or dominate
a team, or are they this team that's going to be,
you know, inconsistent as the season goes on. I think
it's too early to tell what that is, but I

will say it's a quality win for Atlanta and maybe
this is just as much about Atlanta improving. Pennix protected
the ball, Bijon Rode Robinson was effective both both in
the run game and in the passing game. So I
don't I don't find this to be a shocker if
you have those guys on the same page.

Bijon's probably the most underrated running back where I feel
like if he was on a team that was a contender,
we talked about him like a potential MVP candidate, that's
how talented he is. But again, that's what we'll see
what Atlanta can roll into because they are a young team.
I mean the combination of Bijon and Drake London in

regards to distributing them the football that is the entirety
of the offense in Atlanta. So it's fun to watch,
you know, is it sustainable? They have to have more
guys step up and help out back to the bills.

If we were looking at a playoffs snapshot right now,
the number one overall.

Seed in the AFC would be Indy.

You'd have Pitt, New England and LAC would represent your
top four seeds. Buffalo would be a wildcard, Jacksonville will
be a wildcard, and Denver would be a wildcard.

Just how he drew it up, it will be pretty
pretty uh competitive, that's a that's it's just.

Kind of crazy, right Like, no Kansas City, no Baltimore,
no Cincinnati.

to go to the super Bowl will not make the
playoffs if it started today.

Crazy, which which again I mean and and just to
hear like Buffalo as a wildcard compared to New England,
it's I know, I don't think that's gonna be the
case when it's all said and done.

I think Buffalo will once will eventually win the AFCAS.

But I mean, it's it's gonna be kind of tight,
and there's some teams that I think there's a great
disparity between the Titans, and we'll get into them, and
obviously the Jets and Dolphins and the Browns and other
teams who have really really struggled and I don't think
they're gonna figure it out. I don't see many wins
on the horizon. So there's gonna be a lot of halves,

and there's a be have nots. Then a couple of
teams kind of battling for those those wildcard spots. But
I don't think Buffalo is one of them. It's just
you see a performance like that last night, and you
see uncharacteristic things too. You see Josh Allen pressing and
forcing the football and you know, making kind of those
like bad mistakes he used to make, I don't know, maybe.

Three years ago, like are the things like rear.

It's ugly headed and I know it's one game, so
I'm not trying to make a ton out of it.
But I think when you when we sit back and watch,
and especially for all those gamblers out there or fantasy players,
you remember it because you go, all right, they've got
that in their system, like it's a new year and
you're kind of evaluating the first five, six to seven games.
You know what this team is or what it is,

and like what their identity is. And you see that
and you just go, oh, they're still doing that. Huh,
all right, well, I guess like that's you know, that's
one of those roads if they have a tough road game.
Not sure I feel as good betting on them, you know,
not sure I feel as good going to my fantasy
matchup with that team based on what we saw last
night versus Atlanta.

LaVar made the point and he mentioned it, you know,
there's no great team, no dominant team. And I think
you know, Prisco was making the point about college football,
well there's no great team, and you push back with
Ohio State, which is the obvious answer. I don't know
that there's an obvious answer in the NFL, Like I
don't know who the great team is. If for a
league that wants parody, congratulations, you got it, because last

night was exactly that to where Atlanta could beat Buffalo
and it wasn't really all that the Bucks.

I think have been dominant the whole season.

to me, you look at the Bucks. They have been
the best team in the NFL so far the season

the wire. I think this last week was the first
win of the season that they didn't win on the
final possession.

But that's also part of you know, the NFL, like
these games are always gonna be close. I don't domination based
on all they're blowing teams out like we saw the
Colts do that for We'll give us a bunch of
bad teams.

That's rare in the NFL. They're usually tighter games.

So it to with the dominant not with the dominant teams.
When when you have a dominant team, like throughout the history,
whether it's the Greatest Show on Turf for the latest

they were blowing teams out and and I listen, I

you're in the league. Like, I get that, no no

I don't do not equit winning to dominance. I I equate.

REAL i, guess a real action to try to create
that and bring guys. BACK i don't know that you
would have that problem With Matt. Rule And i'm not
sure how The franklin The franklin former players would view

certain you, know guys from The Joe paterno era would
probably come. Back they would come back. Around there's a
