This is two pros and a cup of Joe.
Speaker 2 (00:14):
You got Brady Quinn, you got Jonas X Dad, you
got myself.
Speaker 1 (00:18):
Var Arrington.
Speaker 2 (00:19):
You're probably curious as to why LeVar cracked the microphone
and start the show off. Well, there's some crazy rain
going on in southern California right now. Everybody who's out there,
be safe and well wherever there's poor weather around our country,
draft safely. But Jonas is caught up behind a little
bit of traffic due to an accident, so he hopefully
(00:44):
will make it in. But until then it's just gonna
be mister Q and myself.
Speaker 1 (00:52):
Oh oh oh, I guess he made it. Jonas made
it in, So.
Speaker 3 (01:00):
That's classic Jonah's always cut it so close. Here's the
thing is, Jonas had himself quite the night because he
needed he needed those Bears not to win. They just
needed to cover in order to go five and oher
in our picks against the spread this week. So round
of applause, Round of up for one. Jonas Knox, who
claims he's not a Bears fan, tries to deny it,
(01:22):
although last night no one was happier than one. Jonas
Knox with the Bears and the walk off field goal
to win it versus.
Speaker 4 (01:30):
I mean kind of your commandos.
Speaker 1 (01:32):
Yeah, kind of.
Speaker 2 (01:33):

You know, they had them last year and decided to
start celebrating pretty early. They began to think that, well,
(02:20):
things were going to go their way and it didn't.
Speaker 1 (02:24):
But I'll say this to q.
Speaker 2 (02:28):
Ben Johnson, he had this to say about that same
beer's locker room and what they think is going on.
Speaker 5 (02:34):
I think it says a lot about our locker room
right now. They're really they're not just believing, but now
they're starting to understand that, man, if this thing's close
in the fourth quarter, then someone's going to step up
and make a play for us. And we had a
number of guys here in this fourth quarter that did that,
And so I think these wins sometimes can go more
(02:56):
a longer way for your program than those blowouts too.
Speaker 1 (03:00):
So it was good to see, yeah, well you thank you.
Speaker 4 (03:03):
He's not lying.
Speaker 3 (03:04):
I mean, I think we've all played on teams before
where you know, you get the sense and just a
feeling at the end of the game that you're going
to find a way of winning the game. So it's
you know, I mean, I remember our magical year in
Denver back in twenty eleven, where you know, at the
end of the game, it didn't matter ifields our defense
(03:24):
making a play, didn't matter if it was t bow
finding a miraculous way of making a player Matt Prater
hitting a sixty plus yard field goal, which back.
Speaker 4 (03:32):
Then was very uncommon.
Speaker 3 (03:35):
There was just this belief and thought that if it
was close, we'd find a way in the end, like
they'd falter, they they'd fade, And that's real. And so
credit to Ben Johnson in his first year to be
able to kind of build together this camaraderie amongst the
players in the locker room to start to have it
and start to believe it. But they have to do it.
(03:56):
And that's the thing, like you know, those wins and
wins like last night, it's something that you stack for
the future because you think back, like, yeah, I believe
in Jake, Like I know if if you're Caleb Williams,
you don't feel the need to press to have to
go down there and get a touchdown.
Speaker 4 (04:11):
You're like, no, no, I know my.
Speaker 3 (04:12):
Kicker can make it under the clutch, Like I know
he'll be able to deliver it, you know, if we
put him in a position to do it. And I
think if you just look at, for example, how the
Bears played last night, like that was a game of
winning football. I know it was back and forth a
little bit, but the reality is they didn't turn the
football over, you know, statistically speaking, like you can look
(04:35):
at the run game. I thought they've ran the football
a lot better than they have at least DeAndre Swift
was a lot more impactful. And in that sense, I
thought Caleb Williams and the way he played kind of
managed things too, in particularly on third down, Like there
was there was times where I was watching thinking all right, Like,
if this Bear's team can show up every week, they're
gonna be a tough out and we'll see where the
(04:55):
chips fall at the end of season. But that's the
question is are they building something or is this going
to be kind of this up and down roller coaster
ride the rest of the season. My bet is that
this is the start of something special in Chicago, because
if they get that effort, that performance out of this group,
I think you could, you know, throw them into that
(05:16):
a team that could be playing for a wild card
spot when it's all said and done.
Speaker 6 (05:21):
I just wanted to enjoy the compliments to the Chicago
Bears that have not been heard on this show at
all over the past four years.
Speaker 4 (05:28):
Congrats shonas we tried to give you a round.
Speaker 1 (05:30):
Of a plug five week. I mean, well, what a
poor winner, what a poor winner?
Speaker 6 (05:40):
Look, I mean I think that Caleb Williams that whole thing.
There's still a work in progress there. He's inaccurate at times.
But the one thing that helped last night is all
of a sudden, they found their running game, Like DeAndre
Swift that might have been the best game he's had
as a Bear. And the defense actually showed up up,
(06:00):
created turnovers and gave them an opportunity down the stretch
to win that game. So it was a nice win.
That's back to back road wins for them.
Speaker 2 (06:09):
I mean the one turnover was kind of a giveaway.
Not not so much they generated a turnover.
Speaker 6 (06:15):
It's just you don't think striking fear into that Washington
Commander's offense.
Speaker 2 (06:19):
It was just it was it was a miss, you know,
mishandled exchange, mishandled exchange. I mean it's I mean, it
was very very you know, opportunistic for them to get it.
Speaker 1 (06:31):
Though.
Speaker 2 (06:31):
It wasn't like they just let them get the ball.
They did get it, so but I mean they didn't
force that fumble though.
Speaker 6 (06:38):
Did that game? Did that game tell you more? I
guess did you have more questions coming out of that game?
Or more questions coming out of what the hell was
that from the Bills last night? I think the Bills
are because I had a weird feeling like guy, you know,
any given Sunday or in this case, Monday, you know,
somebody could get you. But they didn't look good man.
(07:01):
And that's multiple weeks in a row they haven't looked good.
And I don't want to go hyperbole, but you know,
for being fair, they also didn't look very good for
three and a half quarters against Baltimore to open up
the season. It just, you know, I don't think it's
panic mode, but it is kind of interesting that here
we are Week six and the Patriots are leading that division.
Speaker 2 (07:22):
It's football, and when you look at how these teams
begin to settle in to the season and guys are
getting there their season legs and stuff like that, you
know you're going to see better games, better football seemingly.
I mean, you would hope that you're going to see
(07:44):
more competition. You're not going to just see teams run
over other teams. I mean, again, I've been saying it
all along. I haven't seen a what is the dominant
team in the NFL this year? I mean, I know
you keep bringing up the Colts, but I have not
seen a this is the dominant team that's in the
(08:07):
NFL right now. So I can't say I was I
was not surprised, especially the fact the way that Bjon
Robinson got in tune with the game and the way
he was playing. I wasn't surprised at the outcome. But
with that being said, it does lend to the conversation
(08:28):
of what are the Buffalo Bills. I mean, this type
of a loss, it just it just begs the question
what type of team are they? Are they the team
that is going to find ways to win or dominate
a team, or are they this team that's going to be,
you know, inconsistent as the season goes on. I think
it's too early to tell what that is, but I
(08:49):
will say it's a quality win for Atlanta and maybe
this is just as much about Atlanta improving. Pennix protected
the ball, Bijon Rode Robinson was effective both both in
the run game and in the passing game. So I
don't I don't find this to be a shocker if
you have those guys on the same page.
Speaker 3 (09:10):
Bijon's probably the most underrated running back where I feel
like if he was on a team that was a contender,
we talked about him like a potential MVP candidate, that's
how talented he is. But again, that's what we'll see
what Atlanta can roll into because they are a young team.
I mean the combination of Bijon and Drake London in
(09:30):
regards to distributing them the football that is the entirety
of the offense in Atlanta. So it's fun to watch,
you know, is it sustainable? They have to have more
guys step up and help out back to the bills.
Speaker 4 (09:44):
It's interesting.
Speaker 3 (09:44):
If we were looking at a playoffs snapshot right now,
the number one overall.
Speaker 4 (09:48):
Seed in the AFC would be Indy.
Speaker 3 (09:50):
You'd have Pitt, New England and LAC would represent your
top four seeds. Buffalo would be a wildcard, Jacksonville will
be a wildcard, and Denver would be a wildcard.
Speaker 2 (10:02):
Just how he drew it up, it will be pretty
pretty uh competitive, that's a that's it's just.
Speaker 3 (10:07):
Kind of crazy, right Like, no Kansas City, no Baltimore,
no Cincinnati.
Speaker 6 (10:14):
Basically whoever we picked him and out of the AFC
to go to the super Bowl will not make the
playoffs if it started today.
Speaker 3 (10:19):
Crazy, which which again I mean and and just to
hear like Buffalo as a wildcard compared to New England,
it's I know, I don't think that's gonna be the
case when it's all said and done.
Speaker 4 (10:30):
I think Buffalo will once will eventually win the AFCAS.
Speaker 3 (10:33):
But I mean, it's it's gonna be kind of tight,
and there's some teams that I think there's a great
disparity between the Titans, and we'll get into them, and
obviously the Jets and Dolphins and the Browns and other
teams who have really really struggled and I don't think
they're gonna figure it out. I don't see many wins
on the horizon. So there's gonna be a lot of halves,
(10:54):
and there's a be have nots. Then a couple of
teams kind of battling for those those wildcard spots. But
I don't think Buffalo is one of them. It's just
you see a performance like that last night, and you
see uncharacteristic things too. You see Josh Allen pressing and
forcing the football and you know, making kind of those
like bad mistakes he used to make, I don't know, maybe.
Speaker 4 (11:14):
Three years ago, like are the things like rear.
Speaker 3 (11:17):
It's ugly headed and I know it's one game, so
I'm not trying to make a ton out of it.
But I think when you when we sit back and watch,
and especially for all those gamblers out there or fantasy players,
you remember it because you go, all right, they've got
that in their system, like it's a new year and
you're kind of evaluating the first five, six to seven games.
You know what this team is or what it is,
(11:38):
and like what their identity is. And you see that
and you just go, oh, they're still doing that. Huh,
all right, well, I guess like that's you know, that's
one of those roads if they have a tough road game.
Not sure I feel as good betting on them, you know,
not sure I feel as good going to my fantasy
matchup with that team based on what we saw last
night versus Atlanta.
Speaker 6 (11:55):
LaVar made the point and he mentioned it, you know,
there's no great team, no dominant team. And I think
you know, Prisco was making the point about college football,
well there's no great team, and you push back with
Ohio State, which is the obvious answer. I don't know
that there's an obvious answer in the NFL, Like I
don't know who the great team is. If for a
league that wants parody, congratulations, you got it, because last
(12:16):
night was exactly that to where Atlanta could beat Buffalo
and it wasn't really all that the Bucks.
Speaker 4 (12:22):
But that's just me. You the Bucks of the team
I think have been dominant the whole season.
Speaker 1 (12:27):
I wouldn't give any team.
Speaker 6 (12:28):
And then even but look at the injuries they're dealing
with now like that.
Speaker 3 (12:32):
Injuries are part of it. But I just think you
to me, you look at the Bucks. They have been
the best team in the NFL so far the season
and they only loss is what to Philly within one score?
Speaker 6 (12:44):
Yeah, yeah, I think so. And they also you know,
and a lot of their other wins came down to
the wire. I think this last week was the first
win of the season that they didn't win on the
final possession.
Speaker 3 (12:55):
But that's also part of you know, the NFL, like
these games are always gonna be close. I don't domination based
on all they're blowing teams out like we saw the
Colts do that for We'll give us a bunch of
bad teams.
Speaker 4 (13:06):
That's rare in the NFL. They're usually tighter games.
Speaker 2 (13:09):
So it to with the dominant not with the dominant teams.
When when you have a dominant team, like throughout the history,
whether it's the Greatest Show on Turf for the latest
with the Kansas City Chiefs when they had to kill,
they were blowing teams out and and I listen, I
get it. There there's going to be tight games when
you're in the league. Like, I get that, no no
(13:31):
argument here. But they're winning games. I get that. But
I don't do not equit winning to dominance. I I equate.
Speaker 3 (13:40):
Comparing like an all time greatest team to you know,
the Bucks.
Speaker 2 (13:44):
So far this year, well, I mean, I just it's
just an example. But again, like I said, the latest
example would be when Kansas City Chiefs were and and
we'll always they won.
Speaker 4 (13:54):
A Super Bowl. One of the greatest teams.
Speaker 3 (13:56):
I mean, I'm not saying the Bucks of the eighty
five Bears, but they've been the most dominant seems so.
Speaker 4 (14:00):
Far this year.
Speaker 2 (14:01):
I wouldn't say, you know, I say they're they're the
most successful. They're having success. The Colts are having success.
But I just don't see anybody that is a dominant
team in the league this year.
Speaker 6 (14:11):
Like you know who's dominant that you know it was
dominant last year the Lions. They were blowing everybody out
and running up the score, it seemed like, and then
they got to the postseason and got waxed by Washington.
It just feels like this year, good luck man, Like
I don't I have I have no strong feeling about
Oh yeah, I didn't care to that team. Probably not Yeah,
(14:32):
it's probably not going to be them, but it does
feel like it's pretty well.
Speaker 2 (14:36):
Like it's hard to it's hard to choose games this year.
It's definitely hard.
Speaker 3 (14:41):
At a game and see it has not it hasn't
been hard for some people. Because if we want to
update our picks against the spread, we've got an update.
I don't know if we have update music. Is it
possible to get that update music?
Speaker 4 (14:51):
Yes?
Speaker 6 (14:51):
What do we have them in the system as far
as update music for update the way we just.
Speaker 4 (14:56):
Want the picks against the spread background music?
Speaker 6 (14:58):
Or do you want some general no.
Speaker 4 (15:00):
Eric update music?
Speaker 1 (15:06):
Yes, along those lines.
Speaker 6 (15:08):
What was no?
Speaker 1 (15:09):
No, like you know what news music? What you heard
through that accident today? Hey man, godspeed?
Speaker 3 (15:16):
That was by the way, you guys do know when
you live in southern California, you're like, hey man, it's
raining out. Really it's really tough to drive, Like there's
other people in the country who are laughing at you.
Speaker 1 (15:27):
It was oh yeah, no, it was. It was danger
reign today though, I will say there was dangerous.
Speaker 4 (15:33):
That's great, it's perfect, absolutely perfect.
Speaker 1 (15:38):
That did not hit your not quite all right?
Speaker 3 (15:43):
Well you got you following week six of two pros
and a cup of Joe picks against the spread.
Speaker 4 (15:50):
Here are your results week six.
Speaker 3 (15:54):
Jonahs knocks five and oh that's right, folks, he didn't
miss one in this coming from a guy who's usually
misses one or true, LeVar Arrington, one in six is
the worst week of the year and it only seems
appropriate and everything else going on.
Speaker 4 (16:14):
Yeah, and then.
Speaker 3 (16:16):
Myself at three and two A winning week won't do
much for it, but let's go to the overall records.
Speaker 4 (16:21):
The tail of Kake twins whins.
Speaker 3 (16:26):
Thank you Jonas knocks on the season is eighteen and fourteen.
That's a win percentage of five sixty two. And for
those doing math at home, yes, he was sub five
hundred until this week, so huge week for Jonas to
get him back up and it.
Speaker 4 (16:40):
Being somewhat competitive.
Speaker 3 (16:42):
Hell yeah, LaVar Arrington standing at twenty five and sixteen,
that's a win percentage of six' ten in second place
and in first place myself twenty four to eleven hid
winning percentage of six eighty. Six those are your standings
After week six of THE nfl season for picks against the, Spread.
Speaker 1 (17:04):
GETTING i like Where i'm?
Speaker 2 (17:06):
At allowed to Have i'm allowed to have a down,
week you, know BECAUSE i know, Football so knowing football
means you're going to have a down.
Speaker 3 (17:16):

Speaker 4 (17:57):

Speaker 6 (17:58):

Speaker 4 (18:03):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (18:03):
Yeah they might have?
Speaker 1 (18:04):
Been, YEAH i, mean.
Speaker 3 (18:05):
But, HEY i, know you try to make it seem
like there's like eight great picks you had in. There there
were not good a good bounce, back good bounce back.
Performance it also should be pointed out the the eight
leg PARLAY i was really concerned.
Speaker 6 (18:16):
About, yeah, god son of a, bitch the, bills it's.
All AND i didn't even need them the four and a,
half keep. IT i just needed the bills on the money,
line and they came out and crapped on themselves and
cost me an eight leg parlay five dollars to win
one hundred and thirty. Seven man up and vanished like
a fart in the.
Speaker 1 (18:34):
Wind gone that.
Speaker 7 (18:35):
You're, Saying, JONAS i think that's. Karma though usually usually

State so you're really going to do?
Speaker 2 (23:19):
It huh we're still? There Huh Well i'm still doing,
this still doing.
Speaker 3 (23:23):
That.
Speaker 6 (23:23):
Huh Penn state is looking for a, coach and lot
going on. There Pat craft is talking, about you, Know
James franklin's record in big games being a, problem that
they're there to win national, championships very fired. Up and
then you've Got Matt, ruhle former teammate Of LeVar, arrington
now the head coach Of, nebraska who of course you
(23:46):
knew was going to be asked about the situation. Yesterday
and so here was the Now nebraska head, Coach Matt,
ruhle talking about his fondness for his alma mater and
also where he stands With.
Speaker 10 (23:59):
Nebraska Penn state met my wife. There it's milma. Mater
was a fan SINCE i was. BORN i was BORN
i think probably at A Penn state shirt WHEN i was.
BORN i Love Pat, craft And i'm really, sad really
sad to see Quote franklin. Go when you think about
what he did for Mile Ma, mater you know the
program was in, peril, RIGHT i mean, though if people
(24:20):
remember like the historic sanctions that you could transfer, out
you could do whatever you. Want bill O'Brien comes in
stabilizes it's for two. Years james takes over a program
in disarray and gives stability. Excellence you, know see videos
of people like yelling at his, Kids AND i just
don't understand why in our country like what, Now like
coaches are, villains like you know how HARD i worked
In carolina and the things that were said to me
(24:40):
are you know how HARD i work? Here and some
of the things that are, said you, know our coaches work.
Here Howard satt worked last. Year So i'm just really
sad about that part of. IT i came here for two.
REASONS i loved the community here and wanted to live
here AND i love it, here AND i wanted to
Rebuild nebraska. Football and you, Know troy AND i understand
the steps that you need to take to make Us
Big ten champions and national. Champions, this this place is.
(25:01):
Elite i'm not going to talk a lot about job
openings when they. Come maybe it's been a while, here
but this is what happens when you. Win i've dealt with,
it you, Know we've won a temple AND i dealt
with it all the, time dealt With. Baylor i'm not
going to talk about those things. Ever i'm not going
to talk about my contract. Here i'm gonna talk about the.
Speaker 5 (25:13):
Team.
Speaker 10 (25:14):
YEAH i absolutely love it, here AND i just WANTED
i want us to continue to take the steps needed
for us to turn this thing into a beast and
players all across the. Country you want to come here
with the best, facilities we, have elite, fans And i'm
just looking at the.
Speaker 1 (25:27):
Future so.
Speaker 4 (25:30):
It feels like.
Speaker 6 (25:33):
This would be the, one like if there was going
to be like this feels like a dream job For
Matt rule if he decided he wanted to take. It
based on his comments about the, program what got my alble?
Speaker 1 (25:51):
Water you got?
Speaker 2 (25:52):
It?
Speaker 4 (25:52):
Cute got?
Speaker 1 (25:53):
It you do? This, no you always not.
Speaker 4 (25:57):
True that is not. True let's don't do this to.
Me let's bring, them let's bring them.
Speaker 1 (26:03):
Back come, on, bar what y'all would come, on bar
and me for why are?
Speaker 4 (26:07):
You why are you putting this on?
Speaker 5 (26:08):
Me?
Speaker 2 (26:08):
Man it's Not let's hear what you have to take
you all.
Speaker 4 (26:13):
Right.
Speaker 3 (26:17):
And i'll say Things i've told of our behind the, scenes, like,
LOOK i THINK i think hiring a coach who has
previous experience at a, school either as a, student but
always better as a.
Speaker 4 (26:32):
Player is really.
Speaker 3 (26:35):
Important and the reason WHY i said this is BECAUSE
i think college football is more, tribal it's more cultural
than any other. Sport and we can call it professional
sport however you want to describe where college football's.
Speaker 4 (26:47):
At that's just the reality of. It.
Speaker 3 (26:49):
Okay people attach a really, important amazing part of their
life to that school because of the maturation process that
happens through. It so there's just a more a stronger
feeling towards that, school towards their alma. Mater and SO
i think someone who's got the perspective having gone through,
(27:12):
it it helps them understand exactly what they're signing up.
For you, know we just talked About Brian callahan getting
fired with The Tennessee titans when he signed that, contract
when he decided to become the head coach of The Tennessee.
TITANS i guarantee you right now all the thoughts going
through his head are drastically different than what was said to,
(27:33):
him what he was thinking going into it less than
two years. Ago AND i think when you've got the
perspective of again a coach who has played, there been,
there and he goes back to his alma, mater for,
example in this, case it helps him understand all the
powers that, be what that fan base is going to be,
(27:55):
like you.
Speaker 4 (27:56):
Know, win, lose.
Speaker 3 (27:57):
Etc all those. Things he understands the recruiting. Landscape there's
just so many things that it makes it a bit
easier in. Ways but also it helps you get off
on the right foot right out the. Gate you know
you're not having someone jump into a program that doesn't
feel like the right. Fit AND i say this being
(28:18):
a guy From, Columbus ohio who Watched John, cooper who
was A southern who come up to The, midwest and
it just felt like it was never gonna. Work John
cooper was a really good, coach won a lot of football,
games shine. Coach he's An hall Of fame coach by
the way in college, football but he.
Speaker 4 (28:36):
Ultimately couldn't Beat michigan enough he ultimately.
Speaker 3 (28:39):
Couldn't win enough bowl games and Get Ohio state to
where it needed to, go and Watched Jim trestle when
he was able to do.
Speaker 4 (28:44):
That and by the, Way jim trest was someone who
understood the.
Speaker 3 (28:48):
Landscape LIKE i was there on a recruiting visit when
he walked Into Saint John's arena and he's literally said
to the, Crowd we're gonna make you PROUD x amount.
Speaker 4 (28:58):
Of, days which were the days leading up to that
game Against.
Speaker 3 (29:02):
Michigan like he knew right out the gate what he
needed to do and what he needed to, say and
then he catched the world on. FIRE i don't think
his first, year but but after, that it's it became that.
Right so my general point, is would that rule be
a good fit For Penn. State of, course you, KNOW
i think you look at what he's done every third
(29:24):
year he's been with a college, Program, Temple, baylor Now.
Nebraska you, know his first year five and. Seven you,
know next year was seven and. SIX i believe now
the five to one and when you really look at their,
schedule they could be eleven and one with the way
this thing's going so far and what and what their
schedule looks.
Speaker 4 (29:43):
Like so once again year three building it.
Speaker 3 (29:46):
Up AND i know it didn't work with The Carolina,
panthers but quite, honestly.
Speaker 4 (29:49):
Like who is it really working for there With?
Speaker 3 (29:51):
Carolina my concern in this hire, is you, know he
has hasn't been able to beat a top twenty five
team since he's gotten To, Nebraska, like he hasn't been
able to win that kind of big. Game and that's
exactly the issue with Why James franklin is no longer.
(30:13):
There not only could he not win that, game but
then it became an issue of you, know losing THE,
ucla losing The northwest or kind of a snowball. Effect
but that's the, question like you're trying to, Answer and
so that is a little bit of a. Concern BUT i,
also you, know don't want to limit you, know What
Matt rule could potentially do with the resources of everything
(30:36):
else he has. There, now, again there's a lot of
football if he. Played Matt rule's got a again a
team that may be biting for a playoff spot In.
Nebraska sounds crazy to, say but it could. Be and
so we'll see how things play out over the course
of the. Year but to, me he would definitely be
one of the names THAT i would go, after one
of the names that makes a lot of sense as
(30:57):
far as a fit of the next head coach At Penn.
Speaker 2 (30:59):
State you, Know matt And pat have worked together before.
That you, know he was he Was, Pat pat Was
matt's a D i want to say At, TEMPLE i
believe that that's where that's. Correct they tracked up and
as far as as far As i'll just say WHAT
i feel About matt from my, PERSPECTIVE i won't turn
(31:21):
it into like this the guy that's getting hired or
anything like. THAT i would just say what what my
understanding Of Matt rule. Is he's an Interesting he's an
interesting one because success has never changed. Him you, Know
he's if you were to Meet Matt rule twenty years
(31:43):
ago and you're hanging out With Matt rule, today you
would think that being a head coach at some of
the most prominent, programs even making it to The National Football,
league to be a head, coach you'd be a little
you'd be. Different you, know changes. You success changed. You,
power positions of, power they have the power of changing.
(32:06):
You And Matt rule has never changed he has always
been the dude that you see and you give him
the biggest, hug the biggest, embrace and you catch up
just like You you didn't miss any. Time SO i
would say, One i've never met anyone who has had
(32:26):
anything ever bad to say About Matt, rule not one. Person,
SECONDLY i would say one of my interesting observations during my,
time you, know going To Penn, State i've never, like
When joe was, coaching our sideline was littered with guys
(32:49):
that played For Joe. Paterno you didn't see that with
With Coach. Franklin you would see some guys From Coach
franklin's days of coaching, there but there was not a
oh my, gosh like there's like one, hundred two, hundred
you know, whatever it, is like crazy amount of lettermen
(33:12):
that are on the. Sideline, recently they there's been a,
REAL i, guess a real action to try to create
that and bring guys. BACK i don't know that you
would have that problem With Matt. Rule And i'm not
sure how The franklin The franklin former players would view
(33:33):
it or see, it how they would handle, things or
how they're going to handle. Things BUT i know for,
certain you, know guys from The Joe paterno era would
probably come. Back they would come back. Around there's a
strong possibility that supporters Of Joe. Paterno and if you
(33:53):
know The Penn state, POLITICS i Call Penn State. Rome
you have The, senate you have you, know you have The,
emperor you, know you have The caesar or whatever you.
Have you have a lot of different levels of people
doing things and positions of power or positions of, privilege
(34:14):
whatever you want to call. It you have that set
up At Penn. State and a lot of people are,
gatekeepers and so it gets pretty interesting being able to
navigate from one place to another without somebody.
Speaker 1 (34:30):
Gatekeeping it and making it.
Speaker 2 (34:31):
Difficult whether you work there or whether you're a, fan
or whatever it may.
Speaker 1 (34:35):
Be it's just.
Speaker 2 (34:35):
Weird it's a it's an interesting way of how culture is.
HANDLED i think a guy that's familiar with what how
the mob, works you, know how how different different aspects
of internal how things, work would be a. Benefit, now
how much of that Does Matt rule Know at this,
(34:57):
POINT i don't know is he familiar with? It so
there is the politics side of it that if you
bring someone in and they don't. Understand whoever the guy
is that comes, in he has to understand or or
get up to speed very quickly on the landscape of
(35:18):
What Penn state, represents because if you do not take
that into serious, consideration your time will be it will be,
very very, limited just because of the intensity of the fan.
Base it'll be it'll be pretty it may be short.
Lived SO i just THINK i Think Matt rule is
(35:41):
a guy that that again he can unite instead of creating.
DIVISION i just don't know if it's a Great like
it always sounds great to bring an alumni, back a
guy who knows it da da. DA i just wonder
is there is there are there drawbacks to that as,
Well like you, KNOW i. DON'T i would never want
(36:02):
to do it because the same people that are are
the ones that love you now and have cheered you
on through the years and stuff like. That get to
some losing, games get to a losing, season and you'll
be like, wait, wait like you you have my autograph
on your jersey and you're you're sitting there saying fire me,
LIKE i don't want to go through those type Of it's, wild, Right,
(36:23):
YEAH i. DON'T i would never want to go through
those mental emotional gymnastics as to how can you go
from loving me to hating?
Speaker 3 (36:29):
Me and, dude we used to play in this bookstore
basketball tournament At Notre.
Speaker 4 (36:34):
Dame it's IT'S.
Speaker 3 (36:37):
I mean claim to be the largest outdoor five on
five basketball tournam in the. World there's like some five,
hundred six hundred. Teams it's any, student, faculty employee of
the of the. University anyone could play in. It you
can't play for more than one. Team but like there's
all these different rules and it goes on during the,
spring like the entire spring.
Speaker 4 (36:56):
Semester AND i remember going from our spring, game.
Speaker 3 (37:01):
Like people are cheering you on you're at your spring,
game to then going to the basketball court and all
these dudes are talking trash And i'm.
Speaker 4 (37:10):
Like what the what in the, World like what is going?
On it always it always gave me.
Speaker 3 (37:17):
The perspective, of like everyone loves you until things aren't
going the way that they want them to go or
you even you want them to.
Speaker 4 (37:26):
Go and the reality, is too is fans aren't your.
Speaker 3 (37:30):
Friends AND i think there's too often times players get you,
know that confused because of you, know the love that
they get at, times and then.
Speaker 4 (37:39):
The backlash that they'll receive is that they're not, friends
they're just.
Speaker 3 (37:43):
Fans you, know they like the. Team they're gonna like
the team after you're. There they liked it before you got,
There so you have to have the proper. Perspective But
i'm really curious to Get jonas's two cents on this
BECAUSE i think he's got just got a little Some
by the, way going back to the Big games For matt,
Rule matt rule is not, beaten AND i believe my
research is correct in this. Case his record versus ranked
(38:05):
teams is two and twenty, three and it actually dates
back to his wins versus top twenty five.
Speaker 4 (38:13):
Teams he got one. Over but, state, well it comes
down To.
Speaker 1 (38:17):
TEMPLE i, mean, like you.
Speaker 6 (38:21):
Know, bad bad record against top. TEAMS i mean sounds.
Familiar it feels like that that was the problem last.
Time but my question For lebar is, this and.
Speaker 3 (38:32):
Then all we want to, Take, yeah we want we
want TO i want to ask Why anni?
Speaker 4 (38:37):
Up, first give us your, take then you canna ask some.
Speaker 6 (38:38):
Question, huh how what is Pat craft's standing within the?
Program is he love? There does he yet like is
he on steady. Ground is there any conversation about pack craft? Potentially, Yeah,
no he's. Good, okay he's, good all. Right so if
that's if that's the, case then let him do what
he sees fit for the. Program let him go with
(38:59):
the direction he wants to go with somebody he's confident,
in somebody he has a relationship, with somebody who knows
the program the way he. Does and let him do
what it takes to bring In Matt. Rule and if
they're let him do what it takes to bring in that.
Rule like if he, can if he can bring.
Speaker 1 (39:13):
You've already concluded that he should bring in that.
Speaker 4 (39:15):
Rule, no not.
Speaker 2 (39:19):
Rule why Because signetti is A pa Guy okay On.
Pittsburgh but he's, yeah but he's not A Matt RULE
pa guy who was went to high school and state,
college walked, on was a grad assistant after he left state.
College bring In matt, rule bring. Back he was like
(39:41):
a grad. Assistant he was like not a grad, assistant
but he was like a. Manager you. Know that's how
he got on the. Team like the story of him
getting on the team is, wow he's a walk.
Speaker 6 (39:50):
On because if the way that you present.
Speaker 2 (39:53):
It Is joe didn't even want him to try, out
and he kept begging and begging and. Begging they finally
allowed him to try. Out to do tries out and
makes the. Team we like we were rag Dolling Matt,
rule rag dolling him and warm up and end period
and stuff like. That do found a way to make
it on the field as a special team. Specialist dude
(40:15):
was making plays on special teams like.
Speaker 6 (40:17):
His his story's pre. Phenomenal so it's so he was,
rudy except it wasn't. Embellished.
Speaker 2 (40:25):
Dang, WELL i don't know about all, that but But, god,
like go finish your.
Speaker 6 (40:28):
Point my thought, is if it can be, done make it.
Happen if he's open to, it make it. Happen and
if there's A nebraska fan out there that looks at
this and has any sort of an issue With Matt
rule wanting to take the, gig this feels like a dream,
opportunity a you, know come full circle moment For Matt
(40:49):
rule for his wife we met. THERE i think this
is the one that he would look at and, Go
i'm a stand up, guy you, KNOW i Love, nebraska
but this opportunity is too good to pass. Up and
if they if Pack craft's on steady ground there and
they trust his direction with the, team with the, program
with athletics in, general then let him do what it
takes to bring home that.
Speaker 3 (41:09):
Rule that would be my. Move was your, question the
Pack craft? Questions so you asked the question first? Anyway
is that what you did?
Speaker 11 (41:15):
There?
Speaker 4 (41:15):
Yeah, yeah you're a. JERK i just wanted to.
Speaker 6 (41:18):
Know and also when you say that a lot of
the old time players weren't hanging out around the, program
was that That James franklin wasn't open to that or
they just didn't give.
Speaker 1 (41:31):
Him i'm not.
Speaker 3 (41:32):
Sure it doesn't feel Like james would be the type
of coach to do, that like He, YEAH i.
Speaker 1 (41:38):
Don't know That is that by?
Speaker 4 (41:39):
CHOICE i.
Speaker 1 (41:40):
DON'T i probably would say it's by. Choice do you think.
Speaker 3 (41:44):
That maybe some of the older guys are just, like,
man it's so damn hard to get in.
Speaker 4 (41:48):
There, No i'm not dealing with.
Speaker 6 (41:50):
That that airport sucks BECAUSE.
Speaker 4 (41:52):
I, MEAN i have A CAN i be?
Speaker 3 (41:54):
Honest CAN i be? Honest the first THING i do
as the head coach Of Penn state WHEN i take
IS i am. LOBBYING i don't know if it's the
STATE i don't know WHO i need to lobby of the.
County i'm making that airport. Bigger the fact that the
team has to drive To harrisburg to fly out is.
Ridiculous and also give yourself a chance to HAVE i
(42:20):
don't care which, airline but find a partner lobby the
lobby the state local government to make that airport, bigger
to make it even. Easier on, recruiting like, you guys
haven't been able to get like really great blue chip wide.
Receivers there's been some, Guys don't get me. Wrong John
dotson is like the most recent kind of comes to.
Mind so there's. Others but the reality, is as far
(42:44):
as recruiting, goes the easier you make it to get
to a school for the player and the, parent the
easier it is for them to make that. Decision like
that is one of the first things THAT i have
no idea why that hasn't.
Speaker 4 (42:55):
Changed its. Change you could say it's not, why but if,
no it's.
Speaker 1 (43:02):
Not i'm not talking about.
Speaker 2 (43:03):
Recruits you guys ask me Why letterman don't don't don't come?
Speaker 4 (43:07):
Home, no, no, no, Yeah i'm not saying.
Speaker 3 (43:09):
That, Okay All i'm saying, is though every single person
that's A Penn state of lum fan, recruit what have.
Speaker 4 (43:15):
You they would literally look at.
Speaker 3 (43:17):
The coach and say thank, you Thank, god like thank,
god someone finally like brought.
Speaker 1 (43:21):
Me you're not wrong about.
Speaker 4 (43:22):
That, Look i'll be. TRANSPARENT i said this To.
Speaker 3 (43:24):
LeVar i was, like they need somebody who can bring
you into the twenty first century with how things are.
Speaker 4 (43:30):
Done, now this is one of. Them that's so.
Speaker 2 (43:32):
Funny we just started we just started updating hotel rooms
like now, no but literally this year was like like
like the last couple of years has been the first
times that we've started updating things like like let's just.
Speaker 1 (43:48):
Say you, know room go oh.
Speaker 4 (43:51):
Whatever it changes the entire, Experience it changes haged.
Speaker 1 (43:55):
Mind And i've been going there for.
Speaker 6 (43:57):
Years The amish roll through on a horse AND i
hit it together bro the HOTEL i.
Speaker 2 (44:02):
WENT i stayed at the hotel THAT i stayed in
WHEN i was a player At Penn state the night before,
games AND i went there a couple of times and
was staying there and On, god outside of THE, tv
everything was the, couches the, carpet.
Speaker 1 (44:24):
Everything was the, same like your artwork on the. Walls
every single thing.
Speaker 6 (44:29):
That The primani rapper you left there twenty years ago
was still.
Speaker 2 (44:32):
Right there in the, corner right there in the. Corner missed.
It they missed, it telling.
Speaker 3 (44:37):
You, man they need to update that whole, thing like
the And i'll compare it to not.
Speaker 1 (44:42):
They, are we, are we are by the, way, well.
Speaker 3 (44:45):
But even the airport in the sense of all that
just how you can go about doing. It but Like Notre,
dame there was a kind of a divide Between Notre,
dame the actual canvas and The South, Bend AND i
would say over the last like kind of fifteen years,
ish there has been more of a partnership and then
how they're trying to kind of revamp and just make it,
safer better for everyone, involved and everyone wins in that
(45:07):
case in a happy. Value i'm not saying that they
have the same, issues but there's definitely some similar things
that they could do to help make life easier on
whoever that next head coach. Is all the, fans, alumni,
students all that, stuff even, faculty like all that stuff
could be could be. Improved AND i know people are,
like why the hell are you talking about this with
(45:28):
the head, coach because literally usually the head coach of
that football program is the top paid employee of the.
Speaker 4 (45:35):
State, like there's no one who's gonna be paid more
Than Ryan day and the state Of.
Speaker 3 (45:40):
Ohio there's no one's gonna be paid more than the
head coach At Penn state in the entire. State so
that's the person that's got that the actually, voice the,
platform the lobbying power to actually do. It so that's
WHY i bring that up because and it makes a monumental.
Change go look At. Teatown go In, tuscaloosa When Nick
(46:00):
saven first got there what it is, now that entire
place is. Transformed, yes success plays a role in, that
but his understanding of the bigger picture played a role
in that, too and it's one of the reasons why
they're still to this day recruiting their ass.
Speaker 2 (46:14):
Off, YEAH i MEAN i don't disagree with. THAT i
think just going back to the, simple you, know response
to the, QUESTION i just think that guys want to
feel comfortable about where they're going and regardless of where
the not the discomfort of it comes. FROM i don't,
(46:36):
KNOW i just know there's always been the undercurrent the
conversations Of Joe paterno era versus the new era of.
TIME i don't know why it turned into a, thing
but it, did and it was always something that was
hanging Over James FRANKLIN'S i find it to be kind
(46:59):
of petty and was unnecessary and still will continue to be.
Unnecessary how how someone Like matt rule would be, Received
i'm not. SURE i think it would be a better,
situation but there's always those, ones Including, jay you, Know Jay,
Paterno joe's, son that they make it a point to
(47:23):
continue to flame and create a fire or keep the
fire burning of there being like this divide between The
Joe paterno era and the era Of Penn state moving,
Forward LIKE i don't know what they. WANT i don't
know what that, represents but it has been a determining
(47:46):
factor in how people view the, program the people involved in,
it and at some point that's got to come to an.
End so there are bigger issues that have to be.
Addressed but it'll be interesting to see if the person
they choose out of A Matt, ruhle who would probably
understand how to navigate. It outside of, that would A
Kurt signetti be able to do? It like would other
(48:08):
guys be able to come in there and navigate, it
because that's a major part of what these guys and
you know What James franklin had to. Navigate, yeah just
don't hire a.
Speaker 6 (48:17):
Tool speaking of, which get tools that perform at the

All, right, Guys so YESTERDAY i THINK i saw one
of the craziest plays let me move. On jonas is
doing his let's get serious.
Speaker 1 (51:48):
Face come, on, guys let's do. It you see, it
you see?
Speaker 4 (51:52):
It come all?
Speaker 7 (51:54):
Right so last, yesterday last, NIGHT i saw one of
the craziest plays in my, life AND i think in
play off. HISTORY i honestly didn't know what was happening
at the. Time so let me set it up for
you guys before we hear. It it Was Dodgers BREWERS
Nlcs game. One it was in the top of the.
Fourth Max munsey comes up to the plate with bases.
Loaded Max, munsey by the, way has eight Career Grand
(52:16):
slams with The. Dodgers that's tied With Mike piazza for the.
Most so you know that this is a scary moment
for The. Brewers he dings it straight Middle sam for
The gohes almost steals. It but let's hear, It brewers,
ready r network.
Speaker 6 (52:31):
One, oh he is a fly olda. Center it's hit pretty.
Well freelix, Back freelix hit the, Track freelix settling up
at the.
Speaker 1 (52:38):
Wall he jumps up and he caught. It, oh he bobbled,
it but he ended up catching.
Speaker 12 (52:42):
It tagging a Thirtis hernandez here's the throw home and
he is going to be out at the.
Speaker 4 (52:47):
Plate so now The brewers are gonna have another out.
Speaker 6 (52:51):
At thirdist contrast is gonna run to the bag and
guddle them, off.
Speaker 11 (52:57):
And The brewers are gonna get out of this setting.
Details so from grand slam to a double. Play all,
right this is one of the craziest Players i've ever.
Seen Sam freelich goes up to snag a home. Run
he bobbles it and while he bobbles, it it hits the,
wall so it's not a catch and it doesn't count
at all as a. Catch so The dodgers thought he
(53:18):
had to. Catch so what they do is they start
running the bases and they go back to tag. Up
it's a force out at, home and then it's a
force out at, second so it's two force outs Because
contres ran back to first thinking it was going to
be an, out but then went all the way to.
Third he was supposed to go to third but ended
up just going to. Second so it's an out at
(53:38):
third and then an out at. Home because because it
was a force out and because he didn't catch the,
ball he didn't have to touch the like all he
had to do was touch the. Plate he didn't have to touch.
Speaker 1 (53:47):
Exactly, yeah. EXACTLY i love playoff.
Speaker 6 (53:49):
Base oh my, god, yeah yeah, yeah and you know
it's as.
Speaker 4 (53:57):
Good it's a.
Speaker 6 (53:58):
Real damn shame that the brew is. Lost, boy what
a what a Bummer alrighters?
Speaker 1 (54:03):
Lost Go?
Speaker 4 (54:04):
Dodgers, baby what a Bummer.
Speaker 1 (54:05):
Dodgers you guys ready for the next.
Speaker 7 (54:07):
One, Yes buck's latest decision seems like a desperate play For.
Giannis but let me let me tell you guys what
it is before we get into. It, So, alex that's
a oh my, God i'm so bad at saying this
last name and tech.

Speaker 11 (54:42):

Speaker 2 (54:42):
