I'm really going to do this. Yeah, that's a I
don't even know how that pops up in your your algorithm.
That guy's walking around.

Speaker 3 (01:28):
With the eleven toes down. Oh big toe, oh big toe.
All right, so one name is out.

Speaker 4 (01:37):
And we kind of mentioned this because there were reports
of this potentially happening yesterday and apparently did go through.
But Nebraska has signed their head coach Matt Rule to
a two year extension. It's going to take him through
the twenty thirty two season, the school announced on Thursday.

Speaker 3 (01:51):
The ex excuse me.

Speaker 4 (01:53):
The extension includes an increase in rules buyout this season
to fifteen million dollars from five million dollars, which would
effectively eliminate him from taking another job in the cycle.
That according to Pete Thamil of ESPN.

Speaker 3 (02:06):
So happy for him. Surprise though, no, no, just just no,
not surprised. And again it's interesting because I mean, did
Nebraska panic? Did they panic in this situation, like all right,

(02:28):
we don't want to lose them. I mean, And another
question would be it's it's it's pretty easy to try
to draw the conclusion that that Penn State was going
to come after after Matt Rule to be the coach.
I mean, it just created a great opportunity, maybe a
perfect storm opportunity for for Matt Rule to be able

(02:48):
to leverage getting getting done what he was able to
get done. I mean, this is a moment where your
it's your agent's time to shine, I think is ultimately
what it comes down to, regardless of what you know
people may have been speculating or saying, so good for him.
That's that's all I'll say. I mean, I can't get
too deep into it and say what, you know why

(03:11):
because it's just like what I just because I said
I wouldn't and and I'm I stay, I stay true
to you know, I do have an involvement. So it's
kind of like I don't what is the official involvement. Uh,
it's not an official involvement, that's the thing. Like it's
not like a like stated like LeVar is this to

(03:32):
the situation. It's just you know, I'm I'm a part
of the conversations and I could say certain things, but
I'm not going to say it because then that like
like shines a light on what's maybe what the conversations
behind the scenes are that are taking place. And I
don't you know, I said I wouldn't do it, so
I don't want to lose my my access, so I'm

(03:53):
not going to do it. But it's good for it's
good for Matt Rule though, I mean, I think it's
a great, great opportunity for him.

Speaker 5 (03:59):
And here's the problem then, like all we can do
then is speculate, yes, which it's it's gonna be hard
to listen to any pushback you have if you're not
willing to.

Speaker 3 (04:08):
I'm not going to push back on you. Though I
didn't push you back on anything better or not. I'm
not go ahead, let's hear what y'all got to say. Well,
my guess is totally disagree, totally disagree, all right. My
guess is.

Speaker 5 (04:20):
That this is probably the right thing for both places.
I just I think I think sometimes we look at
a guy just because he went there and played there,
Hey be a great fit. Maybe maybe not right if
you looked at Matt rules resume on paper, like James Franklin,
you know, has done more at Penn State in regards

(04:42):
to some of those top twenty five wins and big
wins than Matt Rule's done. Like he's he's battling that
at Nebraska right now. I've said this before, like his
top twenty five wins came when he was at Temple.

Speaker 6 (04:56):
So you're going to bring in a coach that's going to.

Speaker 5 (04:59):
Replace a guy who struggled to win those big games,
who hasn't won those big games.

Speaker 6 (05:04):
Doesn't really make a ton of sense. Now, maybe you say, well,
he can get.

Speaker 5 (05:07):
Us over the hunt because he knows the place he
played here, He understands the dynamics of it, how to navigate,
how to fundraise, how to do all the things you
need to do in today's world as a head.

Speaker 6 (05:17):
Football coach in college football.

Speaker 5 (05:20):
But I also think there's a sense of, like, all right,
maybe the grass isn't greener, or maybe I want to
keep my alma mater as my alma mater, you know,
maybe I don't want to go to a place and
potentially tarnish my reputation or have it not work out
where I can't kind of hold it near and dear.
And then on the flip side, like maybe just from

(05:41):
Penn State's side, he wasn't going to be the right
fit of what they're looking for in a head coach
and how they're looking at trying to you know, revamp
things and do things differently this time around. So you know,
I think honestly, in the long run, it's probably better
for both sides. And now it's not a huge commitment
just to your extension to what he was getting, and

(06:02):
he's got a lot of you know, incentives based on
how they perform, which is a great way of structure
in the contract if you're Nebraska, right, like, if he
gets to the College Football Playoff, you know you're gonna
you know, you're gonna piece them money anyway from the
rev share from the conference.

Speaker 6 (06:19):
But like, isn't that what you want to do?

Speaker 5 (06:21):
Is that the whole point of it getting to the playoff,
getting a chance to play for national championship. You'll gladly
pay more money than I would assume everything is going
great there in Lincoln if that's the case. So I
think it's a it's an extension that fits what makes
sense for Nebraska and probably Matt Rule and probably for
him personally what he's building. They're off to a great start.
This is going to be their best year under his

(06:45):
tenure at Nebraska and for Penn State. It doesn't force
them to be in this this bind of hiring the
uh you know, call him the prodigal son, call him
whatever you want, right, but we've seen that story play
out and it doesn't always play out, you know, to
be you know, a great ending, and I think in
this case again it allows both sides to kind of

(07:07):
move on and probably in their best interest.

Speaker 3 (07:10):
And you also have to keep in mind there for
those out there who may not be aware of it.
You know, Pat Craft and Matt Rule have worked together.
You know, he's been an a D. You know, I
believe it was at Temple when Matt Rule was there.
And they have a personal relationship that in a bond

(07:31):
that they have, So there's that element of it. I
would offer this, This is what I was saying. This
is conversations that I've had. These are the things that
I've some some things I've added to the conversations is
that you get a free pass as the A D
for James Franklin. Whatever the results are with Franklin, whether

(07:56):
people were upset with how much money he got guaranteed
for how long the contract was, whatever it is, you
had a problem with. You cannot blame that on Pat
Kraft because it wasn't his hire, and he didn't redo
the contract and he didn't pay out that large sum
of money to James Franklin. So you're not in the crosshairs.

(08:19):
You're not the one with the target and the bullseye
on you for the donors and the fan base looking
at you and saying this was your hire, this is
your fault. What are you going to do to fix it?
Otherwise you know what happens next. Then now the conversations
turned from what do you do with the coach to

(08:40):
what do you do with the athletic director? And some
would say that some of the decisions that Sandy Barber
made prior to Pat Craft coming and taking over would
be considered to be seriously questionable decisions that compromised and
maybe hurt State Athletics moving forward. And it's a tremendously

(09:06):
challenging task to to try to come back from that.
I'll say that. So, now with that being said, the
moment you make a coaching choice, this time, it is
now on you. You're no longer playing, You're no longer playing
on stop time. Right like the sands. You know how
you got the you turn it over, the sands starts

(09:26):
going you now turn that that clock that sands the
time clock over and those sands starts going down. So
what are you going to do if if a coach
wins or doesn't get the team to where it needs
to be in the next two to three years, and
potentially a blockbuster deal is done to bring the coach
that you want to bring two Penn State happens and

(09:48):
takes place. Now you have to justify what that contract
was about, what that buyout is about, how that impacts
the team and how we move forward, and that becomes
a harder conversation. So you know, you can't make a
decision based off of personal feelings. So if it were
personal feelings and feeling good about Matt Rule and that

(10:11):
was the familiarity between the two of them, and that
may have been what you wanted to leverage to bring
Matt Rule two Penn State, I would have thought that
I would advise that that is the wrong decision to make.
That's the wrong path to be on. It has to
be emotion free and it has to be weighed out

(10:31):
from who can fit into the community. For one, who
can win for it? For two, and can they recruit
because it's it's tricky to be able to recruit to
state college Pennsylvania. And if we've only seen two coaches
do it, only two. Bill O'Brien did not recruit. We

(10:53):
do not know if he was a good recruiter or not.
He played with Joe's players and then rolled out. Joe
Paterno had Tom By and Larry Johnson. They could recruit
their asses off. James Franklin had Terry Smith, a couple
other guys that could really, really really recruit their asses off.
Can you recruit and get the best players not only

(11:15):
from the state, but can you get the best players
from around the country to come to central Pennsylvania. That's
going to be a major task and it's going to
be a major challenge. And so you got to get
a guy who can understand the landscape, what the challenge
is and actually can bring the infrastructure, bring the excitement,
and bring what I would say, the maybe the resume.

Speaker 4 (11:39):
So this is obviously a crucial moment in the tenure.

Speaker 3 (11:44):
Of Pat Craft. It's like this is the biggest moment
so far.

Speaker 4 (11:48):
Which is why in a moment like that, I would
assume in a moment like this, where if this is
going to dictate my time here, I want to go
with somebody I trust, Which is why I always thought
of it as like, well, then if him and Matt
Ruhle have this close relationship and they're as close as
they are, then that would I'd rather trust going into battle,

(12:12):
So to speak with somebody that I know that's been
there for as long and the relationship that I've had
for as long as.

Speaker 3 (12:18):
I've had it, Well, when you say been there, do
you like?

Speaker 4 (12:23):
Even even Matt Ruhle mentioned it when he was first
asked about the job after James Franklin was fired, talked
about his relationship with Pat Kraft like talked about, you know,
his history at Penn State being, you know, his alma mater,
meeting his wife there, et cetera, et cetera. So that's
why I look at this and I and this feels
like more of a Matt Rule decision than it does

(12:43):
a Penn State decision. And I just wonder if Matt
Ruhle looked at this and said, man, I saw what
happened to Scott Frost here, and I saw how that
played out, and I don't want to go down that
road to where it spoils the memories that I have
of a place, because all of a sudden, it went
from this this is my alma mater to I've got
to turn this place around or else. And I wonder

(13:05):
about a guy like Scott Frost who looks at Nebraska
and goes all the great things I.

Speaker 3 (13:09):
Did there and it just went sour.

Speaker 4 (13:12):
And ironically Matt rule took over after Scott Frost was out.
But I just this feels like maybe more of a
because you probably can't answer this, but I wonder if
Matt rule was in, like how does Pat Craft say no?
And that's why it feels like this is more of
a maybe a Matt Rule decision where he says, I
just I don't want it to taint my memories and

(13:35):
my feelings about State college.

Speaker 3 (13:37):
Matt Ruhle is a competitor. He's a competitor and he
wants to win. And he he definitely is a Penn
State or he loves Penn State. So I've not had
personal conversations with Matt to to know what that what
that thought process is, So I don't want to misrepresent him.

(14:00):
I don't know but he's a competitive dude. I can't
see him saying, oh, I don't want to go coach
at Penn State knowing what penns like. Matt Rule was
a walk on. Matt Rule was an equipment manager. That's it,
I'm going to walk on like this dude's an equipment
manager that says he's going to walk on and wants

(14:20):
to play linebacker. At linebacker, you like. The emotional sentimental
connection that Matt Rule has with with Penn State is
probably as cool a story as you'll get for a
guy that's going to play football for Penn State. Like

(14:41):
Joe told him, do not go out for the team.
And furthermore, do not go out for the team. Like,
you're not big enough or athletic enough to do any
position on the field. What are you?

Speaker 6 (14:55):
What can you do?

Speaker 3 (14:57):
You're too You're definitely not athletic enough to be a safety.
You're too big and too non athletic to be a corner.
You're not big enough or athletic enough to be a linebacker.
And you certainly aren't going to go on the defensive line.
You're not gonna be a tailback, You're not gonna be
a tight end. You're not gonna be a receiver. The
one position the kid walks on, the one position that

(15:20):
he's able to find a way to get on to
the team and be in practices was linebacker. And I
mean I was there at the end, so I came
in my freshman year was his last year there, and
I used to sit with him because we played the
same position. I used to sit with him in the
meeting room, and I was I felt like I was

(15:40):
a good note taker, but I became like a real
copious note taker being around Matt Ruhle, Like Matt rule
was like that back then. That's why a lot of times,
you know, like I get offended when people sit there
and say some of the things they say about my
sit about my game. But like I learned how to
study film at a whole different level when I was
sitting in the meeting room with Matt Ruhle. Matt Ruhle

(16:03):
knew knew the schemes and knew everything so well that
he worked his way onto the field and played special
teams and had an impact on our special team. So
there is a very strong sentimental value there, and there
probably is a very strong and a good relationship of
trust between him and Pat Kraft. But I think I

(16:24):
think it played out the way it was supposed to
play out, And I'm happy for Matt to get his
extension for at least two more years and see what
he can do with Nebraska. But I feel good about where,
you know, things are in terms of the progressions of
who you know, Pat and who the team, who they're
angling and looking at and talking to and seeing what

(16:47):
could happen.

Speaker 4 (16:47):
Penn State's still a blue blood, right you.

Speaker 3 (16:49):
Get like, you Penn States who can't take away the
fact that they're a blue blood. The question is is
how quickly can they rant back up to, you know,
being what they were not even a year ago?

Speaker 4 (17:04):
Because I think levarn I had this conversation off air
to where I was like, is Nebraska still a blue blood?

Speaker 3 (17:09):
There's still a blue blood football team? Okay, I mean
they're just not getting the results that historically that they've gotten.
But how many times has do why? How many times
has Duke won a national title in basketball? You know,
when's the last time Miami's won a national title? Or
or name any blue blood in college football outside of Alabama?

(17:34):
You know who who's winning national titles? I want to
hear a wild stature.

Speaker 5 (17:40):
Do you know the University of Miami has never won
the AC seasons they joined in football?

Speaker 6 (17:45):
Think about that for a SECON.

Speaker 3 (17:46):
Big East when they were winning all those titles.

Speaker 6 (17:49):
Think about that, like you would never think that's the case.

Speaker 3 (17:54):
Well, they they just got good this year, like they
were decent last year, but they were like they were
falling into victories last year. I would say they're more
impressive in how they were winning things this year until
they didn't. But yeah, and then but how long ago
were they good before then? Right? Like and and people

(18:16):
will say, oh, well, you guys haven't been the best
at being that linebacker data died this day, and now
that you're not linebacker you anymore, it's like saying, okay,
so you mean teams aren't as good as the teams
with Clinton Portis and mcgahey and all those guys and
Andre Johnson and Ed Reid and all these guys twenty
years ago. You're so so they're not the you anymore?

(18:39):
Like that, I feel like that's still equivalent us saying
as a team not a blue blood anymore? So is
is Miami not the you anymore? Because that was what
it would constitute.

Speaker 5 (18:50):
I'll be honest, I don't know that, and I'll put
it this way. I'm not they're a really good football program.
I don't they falling in line with a blue blood
because of when they got good was like after like
what most older folks who are considered blue bloods, like
the Ohio State's, Oklahoma's, Michigan's you know what I'm saying,
Like some of those older program whole programs. Yeah, yeah,

(19:13):
like like Miami feels like more news school. Even though
we're getting to the age now we're young kids are like,
what are you talking about?

Speaker 3 (19:18):
There were blue blood You're like, no, you're talking the eighties, right,
schnelln Berger had to come in and he was the
one right that broke the mold and created the whole
deal with hat Smith and those guys. Yeah, I mean
that's that's you know what I'm saying.

Speaker 5 (19:32):
Like recently blue bloods are like, no, they were good
back at the nineteen twenties of the nineteen forties.

Speaker 3 (19:38):
Like where do like the horsemen like stuff like that.
That's what are they from the forties? It's long it's
a long time ago. When you start talking about some
of the names that are connected to to the history
of these school twenties, the twenties. Yeah, come around a
little bit for God's sakes. Yeah, Lee, the horsemen were

(20:00):
in the twenties, think about that. Yeah, and that picture
is fire by the way, is the original? Is the
one that the famous picture is that? That's where's that
located at? At? I keep saying one to say, I
know to day, where's that? Where's that located? There's a
picture of the horsemen? Yeah, it's like a famous picture

(20:22):
of it from my recollect Yeah.

Speaker 6 (20:24):
Yeah, no, there there are. I do think it happened.

Speaker 5 (20:26):
I believe somewhere around south And I'm not sure where
the photo took place, but.

Speaker 3 (20:31):
Yeah, where where is it? There's like the there, like
I see there's a photo of the horsemen that that
Maybe it's a print they put up in like restaurants
and stuff like that. But I thought that there may
might have been that historical the original original.

Speaker 5 (20:48):
Yeah, I don't I don't know where. That's a good question.
I'm not sure where the original is at on that
it names canvas. I assume it's probably in one of
the facilities. I actually never looked to see if it
like the one, I would see was the original, but
there's like murals and different things up too. So I'm
trying to think back because they've redone a lot of
stuff since then.

Speaker 3 (21:06):
But that's a good question.

Speaker 4 (21:08):
Yeah, I just I think there is a lot. Maybe
guys will take the Penn stage job.

Speaker 3 (21:14):
What a four horsemen? You tripped out? Bro? Take us
a break? No, what do you mean? How to kill
a segment? What I'm trying to come up with answers? Bang,
are any of them? Are any of them around? Are
they still around the twenties? Yeah? Yeah, they don't believe
they would be what one hundred and what like two? Three? Oh?

Speaker 5 (21:36):
No, no, no, well they were probably in there, you know,
eighteen to twenty two Yeah, back then.

Speaker 3 (21:41):
Yeah, yeah, so twenty more year. Yeah, yeah, they ain't here.
They could be among us. I mean it's Halloween. They
could be among us now, yeah, all right, could be
the spirit of the four Horsemen out there? What about
many but him back in Penn State?

Speaker 6 (22:02):
How about No?

Speaker 3 (22:04):
Yeah, does that mean.

Speaker 6 (22:10):
He's a likable guy.

Speaker 3 (22:11):
He's a likable guy. How about now?

Speaker 4 (22:14):
Jonas tang See, I want to look up some of
these odds here.

Speaker 6 (22:18):
My money's on heartline. If I bet I'll believe it
at that.

Speaker 3 (22:23):
See, I don't want to get in trouble for any
insider trading. And if I were to anyway, I would
tell y'all off air. But I can't tell y'all off
air because I've been sworn to secrecy. How about how
about noy.

Speaker 4 (22:37):
CBS had a list of names here, Mike Elko, Obviously
he's been in the news, Joe Brady, the Bills offensive coordinator,
Jeff Brom, Matt Campbell, MANZ.

Speaker 6 (22:50):
I love Brom. I don't know why he doesn't get
more looks by some of these programs.

Speaker 4 (22:54):
Man like Clark Lee of Vanderbilt, He's done a good job.

Speaker 5 (22:57):
Yeah, it would make some sense again, resource, I think
you look at Vanderbilt too, in the way he's built
that program with limited resources and everyone said they couldn't
do it. And now they are going to Austin to
play Texas and if they beat Texas, still got to
play tennis.

Speaker 3 (23:12):
At the end of the year.

Speaker 5 (23:13):
But it almost assures them if they don't stumble, they
will make it in the.

Speaker 6 (23:17):
College Football Playoff. Do you think that's how wild that is?

Speaker 4 (23:20):
Do you think that because that's where James Franklin came
from that, they would steer clear of that.

Speaker 5 (23:26):
I think that's a terrible way of looking at it
if that's what you're making your decision off of which one.
I'll say that James Franklin did a lot for Penn
State and for Vanderbilt. Yeah, like he did. He did
a lot for both. And the reality is there are
two different head coaches, you know, And I think, I mean,

(23:47):
Clark is so cerebral, he's so calculated in everything he does,
and he's a really deep thinker. He's one of the
most intense, thoughtful people I've ever come across in the
coaching industry. Like when I say he the way he
looks at you as a player, the way he looks
at a recruit. You know, there's so many things he's

(24:09):
factoring in if they're the right fit for the for
his team. But I love him as a coach. I mean,
I think he's as good as it gets. Jeff Brohm
another guy, really really good, and it's been mid Louisville
now a contender in the ACC and they might be
a sleeper to find the wain in the playoff this year.
So two really really good candidates. I don't think get

(24:30):
enough credit.

Speaker 4 (24:31):
You know, well, I know they should get the tools
that perform at the highest level on every job without compromise.
When you shot Makeda at the home depot and the
job calls for the best call on Mikida built to
be the best available at the home depot.

Speaker 3 (24:42):
How pros get more done?

that's available to you if you're a big enough NFL fan,
that'll be yours here in about twelve minutes from now.

Speaker 3 (26:14):
Right now, it's time for this.

Speaker 6 (26:15):
I'm a winner.

Speaker 2 (26:17):
Listen up winning.

Speaker 3 (26:18):
Here's all illnesses it really does. I'm going to win.

Speaker 6 (26:22):
It's Quinn's wins.

Speaker 3 (26:24):
All right.

Speaker 5 (26:24):
Quick recap of Week nine in college football.

Speaker 6 (26:28):
Let me tell you something.

Speaker 5 (26:28):
I got some teams that really aren't trying to help
me out here, all right. Iowa State collapses versus BYU.
Bet there's a pick six, another interception the fourth that
one doesn't cover. Apparently Minnesota decided not to show up.
I would just kick their ass. Can these West Coast
teams play on the East Coast?

Speaker 6 (26:47):
I don't know. Don't ask UCLA. They sure can't show
up and do it.

Speaker 5 (26:51):
What about my guy Alex Golish and USF up thirty
one seventeen into the fourth and they collapse, giving up
seven team points to lose thirty one thirty four. Yeah,
so two and four last week, rough week twenty one,
twenty nine to two on this season?

Speaker 3 (27:09):
You know what that means? More bets?

Speaker 5 (27:11):
All right, there's only one way to get out of
a hole, and that's well's.

Speaker 3 (27:16):
You can't you can't keep digging.

Speaker 5 (27:17):
Now, you got to actually try to find a way
of just churning butter and getting up out of this thing.

Speaker 3 (27:21):
It starts off in the Big ten.

Speaker 5 (27:23):
I use headed out to Maryland, who anyone who's been
listening to this knows they are my cover team of
the season. They're five to two against the spread this year.
And here's an interesting little note about Indiana. Indiana is
why I play two games on the road this season,
barely beating Iowa if you'll recall that game was tight
till the very end of it, and then obviously a

(27:43):
great win over Oregon, the best win of the season.
But they're averaging only twenty five points per game on
the road. They're averaging over fifty at home, and also defensively,
they're giving up over twice as many points on the road.
So I think Maryland at plus twenty one at our
good friends at DraftKings keeps this one within the number.

(28:04):
Better team than people are giving Maryland credit. But I
still think you obviously wins. Indiana wins this one, but
I do think Maryland gets the cover, So take the points.
Next up, you will see heading to Lincoln to take
on the newly extended Matt Rule and the corn Huskers.
But I'm laying the points here, folks. You will see
minus four and a half coming off the buy too
much power, too much talent on the outside. I don't

(28:27):
think this one's even going to be close. Next up
in the SEC we just talked about him, Clark Lee
and Vandy. They head to Austin take on Texas. There's
some uncertainty about whether or not Arch plays in this game.
Whether he does or doesn't, it's been a gauntlet for
Vandy to get through. They lost to Bama a few
weeks ago, had their big wins over LSU, and then
Missou at home. Now they go back on the road

(28:48):
to Austin. I think that Texas defense keeps Pavia in check.
You lay the three points with Texas there, and I
also think Arch probably ends up playing this game even not,
I think Texas is going to be able to run
the football and take care of business. Next up the
U They're headed to Dallas to take on SMU head
coach at Lashly for SMU a former UM assistant, and

(29:09):
he's gonna know a thing or two about what he's
going up against. And this is an SMU team that
can get after it with their pass rushers. The problem
they're going up against one of the best offensive lines
in the country in Miami, and SMU is actually the
worst pass defense in the ACC, giving up over three
hundred yards per game. I think Carson Beck has a
field day and that pass rush for Miami gets after SMU.

(29:33):
Lai the ten and a half points with the Hurricanes.
Next up a battle in the AAC, one of the
most fun teams to watch. If you have not watched
North Texas, find a way. This offense is so much fun.
It's the number one scoring offense in North Texas in
the AAC. They can absolutely put up points, and they
put up a lot of yards through the air. Their quarterback,

(29:54):
Drew Messa maker one of the best stories in college football.
I don't think you can have started varsity his senior year,
converted athlete into becoming a quarterback through over six hundred
yards last week. Navy, well, they're the twelfth best pass
defense in the AAC. They're going to have some matchup issues.
Lay the seven points with North Texas next up. They

(30:15):
used to call it the biggest cocktail party Georgia, Florida
in Jacksonville. I think they did away with that for
some reason. But the play on this one's actually not
one on the spread. It's actually on the under of
fifteen and a half. Two good defenses. I think it's
gonna be a lowest scoring affair between these two, both
them allowing twenty or few points per game. So take

(30:35):
the under of fifteen and a half there in Jacksonville,
and next up Notre Dame laying twenty eight and a
half headed to Boston to take on BC. BC stinks.
It's a rivalry game. Notre Dame is going to continue
to impress. Just lay the points, all right, just lay
the points in this one. Next up in the ACC
Cow they're hosting a UVA who has been playing with

(30:57):
fire the past four games, all one score games. UVA
just kind of hanging on to that chance of playing
in the ACC championship game. I think Cal, justin Willcox,
you know more with defensive mind, I think they keep
this one close again, East Coast team going all the
way west Col's getting five and a half. Here go

(31:18):
with Cal the five and a half points. I think
another tight game for UVA and dere I call the
upset out right. And then finally the big one, Ohio
State hosting Penn State. Penn State obviously a shell of itself. Look,
this Ohio State team has been really, really good against
the spread this year.

Speaker 6 (31:33):
There's six and one. I also love a low scoring
game here.

Speaker 5 (31:36):
I think if you look at what Penn State's done
the past couple weeks, trying to run the football against
Northwestern Iowa, probably limiting the amount of touches this Ohio
State offense gets but the spread is nineteen and a half. Sorry,
var you gotta lay the nineteen and a half points here.
I just think Penn State's gona have a hard time
scoring versus Ohio State, and I think Ohio State's gonna
make enough big plays to cover that number.

Speaker 6 (31:58):
So they're your picks ten.

Speaker 8 (32:02):
When's whens, They're welcome, right, I guess I can open
up my Saturday then I'll go sit on the beach.

Speaker 5 (32:15):
Well, you're not coming to the game. I mean that
kind of gives us some indication of this.

Speaker 3 (32:19):
You know, that's not why I'm not coming though, Oh
that's not what you know what I come saying. I did.
I did want to, and I almost did, but I
just needed to stay in this this weekend.

Speaker 5 (32:30):
It was twenty one, so there was twenty one and
a half. It's gone down to nineteen and a half.

Speaker 3 (32:35):
So I wonder why that is.

Speaker 4 (32:38):
A little more optomism there for for Penn State.

Speaker 5 (32:41):
Maybe maybe, Yeah, there's always theres always a lot of
line movement between like Thursday night and Friday morning. You
know that that Indiana Maryland spread that maybe moved half
a point, usc Nebraska moved a point and a half.
Ut Vany moved half a point, trying to think of some.

Speaker 4 (33:00):
Mothers I do respect and like the approach. You know,
last week didn't go well, f it double it up?

Speaker 5 (33:06):
And this, well, do you ever play craps? It's kind
of a betting intensive game. Man, you get down, you
just gotta gotta keep betting more. It's just the we're
doing volume here, though not not necessarily, you know, dollar
amount in volume.

Speaker 4 (33:18):
And this feels like this is the week that will
determine whether or not this is a a season in
the win column or maybe not for Quinn's wins. This
feels like this is a real typic.

Speaker 5 (33:28):
Oh, we got some others. I mean I may bet
every single game coming by my week. You know, by
week twelve of college football.

Speaker 3 (33:37):
That Indiana Maryland game is going to be a fun
game to watch. You're going to learn a lot about
what type of team Maryland is. I think Lox does
an amazing job, and you love the quarterback. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (33:50):
Defensively, I always felt like Butts on two was you know,
if you could disguise it right, Maryland does too.

Speaker 3 (33:57):
Defensively.

Speaker 5 (33:58):
I was watching some of their games, some of their
games tape, like earlier this week with the shell of it.
If you can disguise pre snap, it always will get quarterbacks,
in particular because you're always trapping too, you know, So
you get those quick throws because you feel the pressure.
And then you've got a corner who's just sitting kind
of waiting, watching, baiting you to throw into that. And
I don't know, it would be interesting to see how

(34:20):
are you if IU runs the football?

Speaker 6 (34:23):
That's where you know, I think Marylyn can have some issues.
You can't.

Speaker 5 (34:27):
You got to stop the run for some mendoza and
then try to take your chances that way.

Speaker 3 (34:33):
I think it's going to be a fun weekend like
this is that Rubber meets the Row weekend of a
slate slate of games. I mean, we're going to obviously
have rivalry weekends coming up pretty soon as well. But
I just think that's some some teams this weekend there
their seasons are going to be defined one way or
the other.

Speaker 4 (34:51):
This week when do you think Hawaii might make it
into Quinn's wins for the first time ever?

Speaker 3 (34:57):
It may come down to the last resort. I won't
put it that way.

Speaker 5 (35:00):
I'm trusting I'm not I'm not avoiding them because I
don't want to pick them. I'm avoiding them because I
don't want because I don't want you to have to
talk about Hawaii blah blah blah.

Speaker 6 (35:08):
I mean, I just no one cares. No one cares
about your Hawaii rainbow.

Speaker 3 (35:12):
Wards Tokyo to.

Speaker 4 (35:14):
Huh, we can say Matsuyama, I believe I pronounced the
last name correct. Might have butchered that one, but uh yeah,
he probably did. Yeah, he guy has missed a kick Hawaii.

Speaker 6 (35:25):
You want me to talk about field You want me
to talk about field goal kicking.

Speaker 4 (35:28):
I mean I would say the quarterback there, but he's
you know, there's there's been some issues there.

Speaker 3 (35:35):
But they're in contention for the Mountain West.

Speaker 5 (35:39):
They got absolutely their doors blown off by Arizona earlier
this year. I remember that they're their Their best one
was the win over Stanford, which, mind you, it's tough
watching those Stanford games because they keep showing Andrew Luck
on the sideline as the general manager.

Speaker 6 (35:55):
And last week there it was seven seven versus.

Speaker 5 (35:57):
Miami, and then Miami just beat the crap out of them,
and I just keep it like, ah, maybe you don't
show him quite as much. You know, this isn't this
isn't where they'll be. I give him like three or
four years, they'll be in a better spot.

Speaker 6 (36:10):
You know that's the But also, why is he going
to lose this week?

Speaker 3 (36:14):
Well?

Speaker 6 (36:14):
Probably not Sena, probably not to Santose State.

Speaker 3 (36:17):
But they they'll lose. They'll for sure lose at UNLV
and I don't know.

Speaker 4 (36:24):
I want to correct myself there, Matsuzawa one more time.
I'm sorry, Ken say Matsuzawa the tokyo. Yeah, his celebration
after he makes a kick is the Otani swing. I'm
telling you, man, keep an eye out for Hawaii and
our friends listening on.

Speaker 5 (36:42):
By the way, LeVar, did you notice how Jonas likes
to bring up my my college record. He didn't say
anything about the NFL where he's you know, he's sub
five hundred.

Speaker 4 (36:50):
Hey, I'm supportive. I don't kick a man when he's down.
Why to support you? I actually what do you mean?
I actually bet a lot of the game's Brady picks.
I support my friends. That's what a good friend does.
We're so late, and I don't even know why. Lorena
hasn't said we're so late? Have you said it so late?

This is, you know, by the way, a tip of
the cap to Jim Mersey's daughter who for all the
criticism that you guys gave her for being on the sideline.
They're the best team in the NFL, so you guys
should apologize to her.

Speaker 5 (38:39):
But I don't think we gave her criticism. I think
we're just saying it's an interesting move.

Speaker 3 (38:43):
But you know, so, would you guys like to hear
she's totally made the difference. I agree, she's the difference maker.
It's not a.

Speaker 4 (38:54):
It's not it's not Daniel Jones, it's not Shane Steich
and it's her on this.

Speaker 3 (38:58):
Well.

Speaker 5 (38:58):
The other thing I learned is that apparently she's doing
it for a while. I don't know why it just
became a story now, maybe because she's more in control.

Speaker 6 (39:05):
But this wasn't like new like she had been doing
some of this.

Speaker 3 (39:10):
Now.

Speaker 4 (39:10):
I don't know if some of these items are going
to be available, but I did find a list of
some of the musical instruments that Jim mercads. Obviously, he's
a big music junkie. He had his band that was
the Tree Leaners, So he's got a bunch of instruments,
including ones owned by members of the Beatles, Jimmy Hendrix,

(39:33):
Prince Wow, Kurt Cobain, and Eric Clapton.

Speaker 3 (39:36):
Wow.

Speaker 4 (39:36):
The collection has also contained such items as Muhammad Ali's
rumble in the Jungle Championship belt oh wow, the saddle
used for Secretariat's Triple Crown run oh wow, and a
more than two hundred year old copy of the Declaration
of Independence.

Speaker 3 (39:51):
Wow. That's a collection. That's not bad. Which one of
those would you have?

Speaker 2 (39:56):
Like?

Speaker 3 (39:57):
If you could pick like a which one would you
want the most? I got a pretty impressive collection, though, But.

Speaker 4 (40:02):
I mean of those items, Secretariat's Triple Crown of.

Speaker 3 (40:06):
The South, that's pretty fire. That's that's pretty sweet. The
Declaration of Independence, though, I would need that. That's pretty bad.
That's kind of fire. Bro, Yeah, that's kind of fire.

Speaker 6 (40:17):
And Jonas would rather ride a horse we'd rather have the.

Speaker 3 (40:19):
Declaration of Independence. Yeah, I'll take that. Yeah, all right,
well there you go. Jimmy Hendrix, though that's pretty hard
for Prince Prince, is pretty hardcore too. It needed to
