Speaker 1 (00:01):
Is the best of two pros and a couple Joe
with Lamar Arings, Brady Quinn and Jonas Knox on Fox
Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (00:13):
Right now, we welcome in our smooth operator. He's the
one and only Pete Prisco, senior NFL columnist for CBS Sports,
CBS Sports HQ Analysts. You can get him on x
at Prisco CBS. Pete Good morning, A right, Pete, Pete,
how you doing?
Speaker 3 (00:32):
How you doing, Pete good?
Speaker 4 (00:33):
I'm good, I'm good.
Speaker 5 (00:34):
Brady Brady called the game an NFL game yet.
Speaker 3 (00:36):
Yeah, you love it?
Speaker 4 (00:37):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (00:38):
Do you know what Pete and the guys do at
CBS this They sit in a room because they have
well actually I guess we can figure out which room
that is. But they sit in a space where they've
got all these different TVs to watch the games. And
then Pete used to be Jamie Eisenberg. I assume Jamie's
still in there.
Speaker 4 (00:57):
Oh yeah, he's in there.
Speaker 6 (00:59):
So they sit there and they basically turn on whatever
game they can to listen to to make fun of
the analyst. So I used to sit and then I
would sit in there. I'd order subs for everyone. And
that used to be the old the old Sundae habit
that we would kind of do around the show. Is
that accurate?
Speaker 5 (01:14):
That's pretty pretty pretty good, Brady, But you left out
a couple of details. There were sometimes when actually the
company bought lunch and you ordered one hundred and twenty
dollars sandwich.
Speaker 3 (01:22):
One time, it was like, I mean that was like
four years ago.
Speaker 4 (01:27):
Well, I mean it was like.
Speaker 7 (01:29):
Twenty dollars sandwich.
Speaker 6 (01:32):
It was it was like thirty bucks because they up
charged for like gluten free bread, which I'll never do
that again.
Speaker 3 (01:37):
That was a mistake.
Speaker 6 (01:38):
And then I got double meat, which they charged like
another eight books, like basically for gluten free bread and
extra chicken or whatever it was on there.
Speaker 3 (01:47):
It was like fifteen bucks.
Speaker 5 (01:49):
And don't forget about the gold flakes you had put
on there for an extra.
Speaker 6 (01:54):
Hey, look you know what Pete said. Pete said that
that's life in Biden's America. So anyway, let's try Oh wow.
Speaker 2 (02:02):
Who you are, Hey, Pete? I want to just ask
you that because I was reading something on on social
media and I was just wondering if you'd like to
go amongst other things on social media, but I saw
this quote memo. It's okay, to punt and kick field goals.
These guys are out of control. Learn the game, all right.
(02:24):
So you were the author of that, would you like
to expound on what sent you over the edge when
it came to action in the NFL. I'm assuming this
is referring to the Sunday night football game.
Speaker 4 (02:37):
Well, no, it's an all day thing. By the way,
it's an all day thing.
Speaker 5 (02:41):
And you know, look at you look at what at
the end of the Dolphins game. It started in the morning.
Why the hell when you kick a field goal? I mean,
all you do is late in the game, you kick
a field goal and you take the lead. Why can't
you kick a field goal? It made no sense to me.
So there's one, and then throughout the day there was
a bunch of them. And then you get to the
night game and you got Dan Campbell going for it
(03:03):
five times on fourth down and not getting it. You know,
if he kicks those steel goals, a he might win
the games.
Speaker 4 (03:10):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (03:10):
And and then you have at the end of the
game Skiriani with his patented push push put the damn ball.
You can't give him the ball in that situation. So
that that set me over the top. Idiot, a idiot
B and then across the board idiot through the alphabet
because they all have no earthly idea what the hell
they're doing.
Speaker 4 (03:29):
And some of game management.
Speaker 6 (03:31):
Pete, I want to ask you the Rams sales great game,
would you take away from that one?
Speaker 5 (03:37):
Oh, there's questions about Sammy Darnold again, there's questions about.
Speaker 4 (03:41):
Sam Darnald again.
Speaker 5 (03:42):
I mean, it always bubbles to the surface.
Speaker 4 (03:51):
We know it's there, and so you can't.
Speaker 6 (03:53):
Have one bad game before you pull it out like
you are one of that guy.
Speaker 5 (03:58):
Well no, look, yeah, you get one bad game.
Speaker 4 (04:02):
Everybody gets one bad game. But that was atrocious.
Speaker 5 (04:05):
I mean, those weren't like guys making great plays on interceptions.
He threw the ball into the mid section every damn time.
It was awful and it was a terrible performance. Two
picks and you say, okay, well it's a bad game.
Bad game four. I mean, and that's two years in
a row. The Rams have gotten him like that, by
the way, because they got him in the playoffs last year,
(04:26):
so I'm concerned he didn't play that well.
Speaker 4 (04:29):
But having said all.
Speaker 5 (04:30):
That, they were still a chance to win that game,
and they boughted the clock. Management at the end of
the game with their timeouts. Did you see how they
handled it.
Speaker 2 (04:39):
They almost took You want to know who, You want
to know who I blame for that. I think Sean
mcvay's trying to get Maths Matthew Stafford the MVP, because
if you would have given the ball to Karen Williams,
that game would have been close. At one point, he
was averaging like nine or ten yards of carry and
they just stopped giving him the ball because they they
wanted to have Stafford throw it around a little bit.
Speaker 5 (04:58):
Okay, they botched it, but then at the end the
game the sielkspots it too, but they completed it pass
with forty seconds, but they had two timeouts in the pocket,
didn't call time out and let the play clock for
they cost him about twenty something seconds. They almost took
a time out back to Seattle with him. That's how
bad it was. And so but you know, the Seattle
defense was really good on Sunday against that passing game
(05:20):
and they kept him in the game. But that was bad.
Look for Sam Donald. Now he's got to go out
there in another big game and prove it because that's
the that's themo on him, Brady, you can't deny that
that that the big game comes, the big moment comes,
and he turned into Sam Donald.
Speaker 3 (05:34):
Dude called that gave yesterday. As soon as Cousin's got it,
I kept thinking about you, and I'm thinking like, is
this a big moment?
Speaker 6 (05:43):
This is Pete Sada himself. Oh, he's got to drive
his team down to get a field, go to take
it overtime.
Speaker 3 (05:48):
Can he do it?
Speaker 6 (05:48):
It's a big moment. A Cousin's delivered. He got him
leased into overtime. Wasn't that bad?
Speaker 8 (05:53):
I guess really he wasn't good, Brady, he wasn't Kirk
Cousins was not good on Sunday, and the Falcons have
major problems and it looks like you might have change
coming there.
Speaker 5 (06:03):
I mean, let's be real, a lot of people thought
that team would compete for the division title.
Speaker 4 (06:07):
They've gotten worse. Now.
Speaker 5 (06:09):
The flip side of that is, I'm going to say this,
Bryce Young played really well. He was he was good
on Sunday and he threw for a ton of yards.
But he was he looked like a quarterback who could
stand in there and make plays and make throws. And
he did a really nice job The inconsistency is what
drives people crazy. And I think once if he could
become good, well you think it's just as hell.
Speaker 3 (06:30):
I mean, let's hold on had So this is what
I said earlier. Who outside of Ted Ronald McMillan. Is
he throwing to.
Speaker 5 (06:38):
Baby again? A nice touchdown pass on the sideline yesterday?
Speaker 3 (06:42):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (06:42):
Off the sideline that Bryce dropped a dime on a
go ball, which, by the way, happened to be a
versus a kid who was getting us first start in
the two year career that was playing for two other
starting cornerbacks.
Speaker 3 (06:53):
We're both injured three with the other guy in.
Speaker 5 (06:55):
Practice and the Falcons can't and the Falcons can't tackle either.
Speaker 4 (06:58):
So that helped add into the artist numbers.
Speaker 5 (07:00):
Look, I get it, but Brady, he had gone into
that game with one game over two hundred yards passing one.
Speaker 3 (07:07):
I get it.
Speaker 6 (07:08):
I also think it's tough when you're trying to rely
on a rookie wide receiver to be your number one
target and that's maybe your only consistent target.
Speaker 5 (07:15):
Do you do you think he's good?
Speaker 3 (07:17):
I do, I actually think he.
Speaker 6 (07:19):
Here's the problem is for someone like you, you look
at the Josh Allens, Patri Mahomes, Lamar Jackson, and we
can all do this. We can all look at the
best and go, oh, they're phenomenal, Like we get it,
like everyone everyone could go. John always got a strong arm,
like we get that, Dandy Marino best Arma Metter, Like
that's all easy to see. He has these intangibles and
little things he does really well where he's able to
(07:41):
help this team win football games. Do you know he's
got like nine game winning drives on like twelve wins
during his time. They're like it's not like they're like ever,
you know, playing in these like blowout games, like the
first matchup was a blow out because of some pick sixes.
Speaker 3 (07:55):
But you know, you go back and look at it,
like they're.
Speaker 6 (07:57):
Playing in a lot of tight games and he kind
of tends to figure it out. And just like Deliver,
I just think if if he was throwing at Jamar
Chase and T. Higgins, for example, his.
Speaker 3 (08:07):
Passing numbers would probably look a lot better. That would
be my guess.
Speaker 5 (08:11):
Well, I mean you could throw Jamar Chase and T.
Higgins to anybody in their passing numbers would look a
lot better.
Speaker 3 (08:16):
Okay, well that.
Speaker 6 (08:17):
But that's what I'm saying is he doesn't have that,
so the numbers aren't going to look quite as good
when you're relying purely on a rookie and you've got
guys kind of floating in and out of the lineup.
It's just it's it's tougher than you think, I think
to make that go and to make that work.
Speaker 5 (08:31):
The quarterback apologist has arrived, and here he is, Ray Quick.
Speaker 6 (08:36):
I just love how you're a heightist. You're holding it
against Bryce Young that he's smaller in stature.
Speaker 4 (08:41):
No, I'm not just looking good. I think he's average.
Speaker 5 (08:46):
I think he's averaged as as he can be.
Speaker 3 (08:48):
I just don't think what you see his average.
Speaker 6 (08:50):
I think he does some other things really really well
that likely appreciated.
Speaker 4 (08:55):
It was really good on Sunday. I got to give
it to him.
Speaker 5 (08:58):
I mean, and the falcons. I mean, does houlds tackle anybody?
I mean that that's the tight end.
Speaker 3 (09:03):
I mean, Tomble, Yeah, where do you come from? What
school did you go to?
Speaker 5 (09:08):
Pet He went to Notre Dame Brad that's righty? Did Pete?
Speaker 7 (09:11):
That's righty? Did Pete?
Speaker 3 (09:13):
Woo woo?
Speaker 9 (09:16):
Homer Hey, go ahead, No, you got you were in there.
Speaker 7 (09:26):
No, you jumped in there. Go ahead, Yeah, yeah, I mean,
y'all love Pete.
Speaker 3 (09:29):
I'm gonna let you.
Speaker 10 (09:30):
Oh, come on, good the answer you ask your question.
Speaker 7 (09:34):
Jeez, I'm just sitting here spectating.
Speaker 3 (09:36):
All right.
Speaker 2 (09:37):
So, Pete, your thoughts on the situation that Kansas City
Chiefs find themselves in at this point in the year.
It looks like the division's out of reach and now
they've got to go on a little bit of a
heater and even make a playoff spot.
Speaker 4 (09:48):
They're gonna have to go in a real heater.
Speaker 5 (09:50):
The division's gone. They're gonna have to They got to
reconcile the fact that they're probably gonna go through the
wild card and go travel and have to win games
that way. But having said that, you look at their schedule,
it's favorable, and I think they can get on the run.
It wouldn't surprised me to see them win every game
starting this week against the Colts. And that's a good
Colts team. But you got a desperate Chiefs team, and
so I think that's a problem. But they're gonna have
(10:12):
to do it differently this year. And I worry about
their pass rush. Where the hell is it?
Speaker 4 (10:17):
You know?
Speaker 5 (10:17):
They Chris Jones and Carl Aptus and all that group.
Where's the pass rush? They don't have one right now,
and I think that's a concern for me going forward.
You know, again, offensively, the cornerback wasn't great on Sunday.
Speaker 4 (10:32):
Let's be real. You know, sometimes we just sit here.
Speaker 5 (10:35):
And we praise him, and we praise him.
Speaker 4 (10:36):
We praise him because he is a great player.
Speaker 5 (10:38):
But there were.
Speaker 4 (10:39):
Moments on Sunday where you looked at it and go,
what was he doing? What is he doing?
Speaker 5 (10:42):
Like the interception, what was that? You got to get
points there? You can't give that away. And you know,
the free runner on the corner blitz, he's if I'm
not mistaken, Brady, that isn't that an idea on the
protection that he's got to identify and that him was
a free Yeah, so that's on him too. So there
were a lot of moments where you looked at it
and you say, that's not the Chiefs team would come
to see on you know, this late in the season
(11:05):
and go into the playoffs. So but having said all that,
I do think their schedules favorable and they could turn
around and rip off a bunch of games.
Speaker 9 (11:11):
And get into the postseason, Pete looking at at some
of these teams, like a Kansas City Chiefs team, or
you know, Baltimore got the win yesterday, but it was
pretty pretty close.
Speaker 10 (11:25):
Uh.
Speaker 9 (11:26):
I'm just curious and looking at some of these traditional powers.
I mean, I feel like the Broncos made a statement
in that game against the Chiefs yesterday, and and then
you see some of these other teams and what they've
been able to do.
Speaker 7 (11:44):
Is it.
Speaker 10 (11:45):
Do you see there being a shift taking place?
Speaker 3 (11:48):
Possibly?
Speaker 9 (11:49):
You know, we generally see the same teams be dominant
and end up in the playoffs and end up in
the super Bowl, but it just seems to be I
don't know, maybe other teams are starting to kind of
pop up to be better teams. I mean, we're sitting
here and God forbid that we can continue to do.
Speaker 7 (12:08):
It further into the season.
Speaker 9 (12:09):
But we're talking about the Chicago Bears are winning, the
New England Patriots are winning, and what the Patriots they
don't even look like that. You know, it's a first
year team. They look like they're poised to go try
to win a championship. Do you see there being a
shift taking place right now?
Speaker 5 (12:28):
Well? I also think some of those teams, including the Patriots,
are taking advantage of the SAFT schedule.
Speaker 4 (12:34):
Okay, kudos to them, though, I.
Speaker 5 (12:36):
Mean, but here, here's the thing. The two best teams
in the AFC right now record wise are the Patriots
and the Broncos. And we had one of our guys
run the numbers if they played based on the data,
if the say Buffalo went to Denver or Kansas City
went to New England, who would be favored? And both
(12:58):
those teams, Buffalo and Kansas City would be And so
that tells you something about where we are with those teams.
Do you do you let me ask you this, those
two teams, the Patriots and the Broncos are the two
best in the AFC. Would you stake a claim to
say that either one of those teams is going to
win the Super Bowl this year?
Speaker 4 (13:13):
No, Brady, No? Yeah.
Speaker 5 (13:18):
And so that's the point. But defense is really good
in Denver, and I think Drake may and the defense
is pretty good in New England. So they're going to
be tough outs. But I still think ultimately we're going
to get to where Look, the Ravens played a bad
game on Sunday, but you know they're coming. You know
(13:38):
they're coming, and they're going to get to the postseason,
and once they get to the postseason, they're gonna be
as dangerous as anybody. And you know, the Bills are
going to be as dangerous as anybody in the postseason,
and if the Chiefs get there, they will be too.
Speaker 4 (13:48):
So I still think we.
Speaker 5 (13:50):
You know, right now, it looks that way, LeVar, but
I don't necessarily agree that that's what's going to happen
when we get to the postseason.
Speaker 7 (13:56):
I got you, Pete.
Speaker 2 (13:58):
We appreciate it, We're up against it, but let's do
it again next Monday. There is.
Speaker 1 (14:03):
Be sure to catch live editions of Two Pros and

And that's why we have a brand new podcast called
over Promised. You see, we're having so much fun in
our two hour show. We never get to everything honestly,
because this guy is over promising things we never have
time for. Yeah, you blubber li lame in me.
Speaker 2 (14:40):
Well you know what it's called over promise.
Speaker 11 (14:42):
You should be good at it because you've been over
promising women for years.
Speaker 12 (14:45):
Well, it's a Cavino and Rich after show and we
want you to be a part of it. We're gonna
be talking sports, of course, but we're also gonna talk

Well, if you don't get enough on Rich, make sure
you check out over Promised and also uncensored by the way,
So maybe we'll go at it even a little harder.
It's going to be the best after show podcast of
all time.
Speaker 12 (15:09):
There you go, over promise it. Remember you could see
it on YouTube, but definitely join us. Listen Over Promised
with Cavino and Rich on the iHeartRadio app, Apple podcasts
or wherever you get your podcasts.
Speaker 2 (15:20):
Now, you mentioned ole Miss earlier. Let's go for So
there is a story that we discussed about the ultimatum
that was put out there. Reportedly, there was this ultimatum.
They told Lane Kiffin, did old Miss Brass, Hey, you
got to the egg bowl make a decision. We want
to know whether or not you're going to be here,
whether or not you're going to take some job elsewhere.
(15:42):
So Lane Kiffin was on the Pat McAfee show yesterday
starring AJ Hawk, and he addressed the rumors that there
was an ultimatum put on him by Ole Miss.
Speaker 13 (15:53):
That's absolutely not true. There's been no ultimating anything like
that at all. And so I don't know where that
came from. Like a lot of stuff that comes out there.
Like I said, man, we're having a blast. I love
it here, So.
Speaker 6 (16:07):
Hold on, hold on, hold on. Yeah, we cut that short.
He had the running back Lacy in the room with him.
He's like a running backs right here with me. He
calls me, He's like, come on over. He calls him
over into the shot and they're like both said. They're
kind of talking and hang out. He must have been
just meeting with him, So it's kind of wid a
wild scenario, just you know what exactly had going on
(16:27):
at that.
Speaker 3 (16:27):
Point in time of the day.
Speaker 6 (16:28):
But he's he feels like a very open and honest
guy about what's happening.
Speaker 2 (16:33):
And now ESPN reported that their athletic director, Keith Carter,
has asked for a decision by this upcoming weekend, so
not the Egg Bowl weekend, which would be the following weekend,
but this upcoming weekend. So it feels like there's mixed
messages that have come out to where he's saying there
was no ultimatum, but ESPN's reporting there has been an ultimatum,
(16:53):
and it seems like they're looking for answers here as
quick as possible.
Speaker 6 (16:57):
So, well, it's not like that came out of nowhere, right,
Did somebody just like want to make up a rumor
that there is an altimatum given or a timeline given?
Is that how I mean? It's not how it really works.
People don't make up stuff.
Speaker 2 (17:10):
You've heard it from somewhere, And by the way, I don't.
There's not a knock on ole miss I can understand
their thought, like, hey man, we want to know whether
or not you're you're here for the long term or not.
I just look at it and I go, well, this
kind of sucks for the players there because they're in
contention to maybe win a national championship. They're in the
college football playoff. As it stands right now, they've got
(17:31):
a game left in the regular season, they're in their
bye week, and instead you know, resting up and getting
ready for you know, the finale and to go on
and do big things, they've got to wonder whether or
not their coach is going to be around by this weekend.
Speaker 9 (17:44):
Well think about it this way too. You know, all
these other coaches that were in demand, what happened?
Speaker 7 (17:54):
They were given extensions. Maybe maybe my man.
Speaker 9 (18:00):
Kiffin is sitting there like, hey, like yeah, I acted
like y'all want to know what I'm gonna do.
Speaker 7 (18:06):
I'm under contract.
Speaker 6 (18:09):
Well I think I think there's one in place, but
that wouldn't be announced until he makes a decision if
he's staying or not.
Speaker 3 (18:17):
If he stays, he'll Yeah.
Speaker 6 (18:22):
I think what's interesting about this because there might be
a job or two that comes open. There's some people
speculating Florida State when they come open at the end
of the season. Uh, that would add to that list.
To me, it's about is Elaine potentially being patient because
he's looking at the NFL. You know, people tend to
forget he he did have a short stint with with.
Speaker 3 (18:46):
The Raiders a time ago. It was extremely short.
Speaker 6 (18:50):
He made it through one season and four games I
think the next before it was fired. And you do
have some some jobs open that I think, whether it's Tennessee,
whether it's the New York Giants, that there might be
some teams that are interested in and maybe giving him
another shot.
Speaker 3 (19:05):
He's had a lot of head.
Speaker 6 (19:06):
Coaching experience between the Raiders back into what two thousand
and seven, two thousand and eight that you know, Tennessee
granted only for a year, USC Florida Atlantic Old Miss.
Speaker 3 (19:15):
I mean, he's a.
Speaker 6 (19:17):
Different guy, and maybe there's an opportunity or someone some
people are talking to him, they're you know, telling him
about what he thinks. You know, maybe there's an opportunity
to be patient and wait for some of these NFL jobs.
And he's able to do that by continually to be patient,
let the season play itself out, you know, to your point,
(19:37):
he's got a chance to play for the College wall playoffs.
They're almost assuredly going to be in. They play Mississippi
State next week in the eight Bowl, and even if
they don't make the SEC Championship game, which it doesn't appear,
they're going to they would still get in with their
current resume. So they are going to be a playoff team.
They're gonna have a chance to play for a national championship.
There's no reason to maybe rush this outside of if
(19:58):
you're Old Miss, because they've got to potentially go find
a new head coach. And that might have been something
that didn't dawn on them, you know, coming into the season,
and now is drastically changed. But I do wonder how
or if the NFL angle on things is playing any
role whatsoever. And him waiting, and this isn't just about
(20:19):
him his family and him deciding between LSU Florida and
Old Miss. This is more really about him potentially looking
at trying to get to the next level.
Speaker 3 (20:28):
Maybe he's a coach that saying I don't.
Speaker 6 (20:29):
Want to have to deal with the nil stuff anymore
and all that, I'd rather just go to the pros.
Speaker 2 (20:35):
Yeah, and his former quarterback sitting up there in New
York looking for a head coach this offseason.
Speaker 3 (20:39):
So there you go.
Speaker 9 (20:40):
I would Old Miss really do if they if they
self imposed, you know, a due date for him to
make a decision, what.
Speaker 7 (20:49):
Are you going to do?
Speaker 2 (20:49):
They can fire him?
Speaker 7 (20:50):
Where are you gonna do, Like I'm not ready to
make a decision yet.
Speaker 2 (20:53):
You fired, Okay, you know what I mean?
Speaker 7 (20:58):
Yeah, I don't see honest, see plan out that way.
Speaker 6 (21:02):
So even then it's it's like it's like you know
you it's one of those threats that you know there's
there's nothing behind it, right. I mean it's almost like
when you're a parent you've got kids, and you like,
you threaten your kid and the kid looks at you.
Speaker 3 (21:15):
Well yeah, but they're like they're not.
Speaker 6 (21:16):
It doesn't work anymore because the problem is they know
they're at a certain place where like you can't really
discipline them if you want to, and they know it,
so like they kind of look at you, and Jones.
Speaker 3 (21:28):
Is going to get there at some point. I don't
know that your son's there quite yet, he started.
Speaker 6 (21:34):
Your kids will get to an age where they become
very aware of the safe zones of where they can be,
where they can be disciplined, and where they can't.
Speaker 3 (21:40):
I mean, var tell.
Speaker 9 (21:41):
Them, oh man, look, my three two ones used to
be three two. Wouldn't even make it the one. Then
they get a little older, then it's like three.
Speaker 7 (21:56):
Two. Then they get a little old, then it's like three.
Speaker 2 (22:06):
Three two, I said too, one and a half.
Speaker 9 (22:14):
I said, I said too, you get the one, and
they were still coming now today with the last one
at ten years old. It's it's it's really just like
if if my voice inflection isn't like for real, for real,
like for some strange reason, his voice sounds like he
is really really upset.
Speaker 7 (22:36):
Then you know she doesn't.
Speaker 9 (22:39):
It doesn't. It doesn't work. That's the point at some point,
you know, the whole you get you better get over
here type type talk, that it doesn't work.
Speaker 7 (22:51):
It doesn't work.
Speaker 9 (22:51):
So ultimatums now it just seems like that's that's empty
calories for old miss right now, you know, because there's
there's in there like three.
Speaker 3 (23:03):
Three.
Speaker 6 (23:04):
By the way, I also feel like it's it's for
like relationships that aren't going to last, Like if all
missus Gami Lane Kiff an ultimatum now and they don't
think that this is going to come up.
Speaker 7 (23:14):
In the future, it's a great point.
Speaker 3 (23:16):
That's just like if you hear a couple, you know,
you're talking to him, they're like, oh, yeah, he gave
me an ultimatum. It's like, yes, it's probably gonna work out,
Like well, let's be real.
Speaker 9 (23:25):
It's just that whole point, Like, can't guys just jump
on top of extensions now, like if they really wanted to.
There's a coach that at school really wanted an extension.
I mean, are you are you legally off the off
the table for how long? Like is there an extending
amount of time or is it to come back? There's
(23:48):
always going to be a buyout?
Speaker 7 (23:49):
Right?
Speaker 6 (23:50):
Yeah, well correct, But if you look at the James
Franklin situation, James Franklin had to actively be searching for
another job and then technically not get it if he
was going to get the full payout from Penn State.
So that's why the settlement only end up being nine
million because of what he was offered. Is now the
head coach of Virginia Tech.
Speaker 3 (24:11):
So if you.
Speaker 6 (24:12):
Craft, like pat Craft, did the contract right, you can
mitigate some of what you're gonna be putting out there now.
Speaker 3 (24:22):
If you're someone like Louisa Date.
Speaker 7 (24:24):
The contract, I think that might have been Sandy.
Speaker 6 (24:26):
Barrow, probably might have been before him or someone, but
either way, oh, get credit for it.
Speaker 4 (24:32):
Now.
Speaker 3 (24:32):
If you look at Louisiana a different story.
Speaker 6 (24:34):
You know, Brian Kelly's coming for all fifty four million,
every single dollar, and I'm not sure if he's gonna
get hired or not. I think I do think Brian
Kelly is a good coach. I know it did not
work out at LSU and maybe he had a ceiling
both at LSU and Notre Dame. But I do think
he's proven he can coach at smaller schools and be
(24:55):
able to get the most out of it. But maybe
he doesn't want to anymore. At least it sounds like
it from some of the reports of what was.
Speaker 7 (25:01):
What do you mean him and his family is done winning?
Speaker 10 (25:05):
Well?
Speaker 6 (25:05):
Yeah, I mean a lot of things going on there,
but a lot of fine wine and golfing going on.
Speaker 1 (25:13):
Be sure to catch live editions of Two Pros and
a Cup of Joe with Brady Quinn, LeVar Arrington and
Jonas Knox weekdays at six am Eastern three am Pacific.
Speaker 2 (25:24):
It is Two Pros and a Cup of Joe here
on Fox Sports Radio Laviarron. Let's do a vo Jonas
Knox with you, by the way, brought to you by
the Home Depot. Get tools to perform at the highest
level on every job without compromise. When the shop, When
the shop calls Makda at the home depot. When the
job calls for the best calling, Makida built to be
the best available at the home depot. How pros get
more done. So we started doing this a couple of
weeks ago, where we would pick and choose different quotes
(25:49):
from coaches in the NFL college football wherever throughout the
past several days, and we would try and decipher. We
first play it for you and then try and tell
you what they're really trying to say. Patrick Sweek has
gone through and he's combed through all that from coaches
in the NFL college football throughout the past past several
(26:09):
days here and so, Patty, what are we looking at?
Do we have any any theme music we can throw
on under the pop?
Speaker 3 (26:18):
Okay?
Speaker 10 (26:18):
Well, well, well it is time to play coach speak everybody. Well,
the coaches speak, you guys speak, but your guys' answers
is what I seek. It's time to play all right,
the bar bars, thank you, thank you? All right, guys,
So we got I got five of us five coaches
to hear from today. Let's go with our first one.
(26:40):
So we have mister Dan Campbell, uh speaking a couple
of days ago he wish he was making some better calls.
You know what, Loverna, can you play mister Campbell for us?
Speaker 14 (26:50):
Please offensively? You know, three or thirteen on third down
and five on fourth down? You know, we just we
could not convert, you know, and when you can't convert,
that makes it very difficult.
Speaker 4 (27:01):
You know.
Speaker 14 (27:01):
I felt like we're gonna get a rhythm after that
second quarter we started, you know, we hit those explosives,
went down, j Mos scorers touchdown, you know, and it
felt like, all right, here we go. I just couldn't
ever really get in a rhythm offensively. You know, there's
I mean, there's there's some calls I wish I could
have gotten back. You know, I didn't help those guys.
I hate that, all.
Speaker 10 (27:23):
Right, And going first, here we got mister Jonas Knox.
You get to go first with what do you do?
Speaker 3 (27:28):
Let's go Jonas.
Speaker 2 (27:30):
I hate punters and I hate kickers. I will continue
to go forward on fourth down. I know the results
didn't speak well to my ability as a play caller
as head coach, but I'm gonna just have to take
the good with the bad. I'm a guy that if
I walk by Roulette Wheel and I see that it's
hit red fifteen times in a row. I'm just going
to keep pounding black until it comes up again. The
(27:51):
way I operate, That's the way I coach this team.
And yeah, we looked dreadful against Philly on Sunday Night football.
But you know what, much like any other gambler, I'll
be right back the next game, and I'll be going
forward on fourth down when all the statistics and all
the analytics would tell me otherwise, because I'm Dan Campbell.
Speaker 3 (28:10):
All right, okay, all right, okay.
Speaker 10 (28:13):
You know what, who gets to go next? Numero dose here,
mister Brady Quinn, you get to go second?
Speaker 3 (28:19):
All right, Patty Sweet?
Speaker 6 (28:20):
Yeah, yeah, Dan Campbell was actually saying this, Man, I
miss Ben Johnson.
Speaker 3 (28:26):
He was such a good coach, such a good offensive mind.
Speaker 6 (28:29):
I would not have to stand up here right now
and say this and do this if Ben was still here.
Speaker 3 (28:34):
Hell, I wouldn't even had to take over play calling
duties if Ben was still So that's the reality of it,
all right, I miss Ben.
Speaker 6 (28:42):
Missed that guy, missed that little brainiac over there in
Chicago now winning some football games, so which we had
him back.
Speaker 3 (28:49):
But doesn't seem like that's going to be the case.
Speaker 10 (28:52):
Okay, okay, Well, you know, when I.
Speaker 6 (28:55):
Try to keep the SoundBite shorter than what the actual
one was, Jonahs sometimes gets so long winded. It's like
you can't break down coaches speaking talk longer than they talk.
Speaker 2 (29:04):
I mean, well he can, I mean, because he was
trying to say something, but what came out was the
well of.
Speaker 6 (29:10):
All the coaches who tries to say something. I think
Dan Campbell's pretty literal.
Speaker 10 (29:14):
It's fair. He does like to bite kneecaps. Uh, And
let's let's go to number three, LeVar, what do we got.
Speaker 7 (29:23):
Well and punch kneecaps. Don't forget about that.
Speaker 9 (29:26):
And this was one of those times that we had
to punch some knee caps. You know, I took the
play calling duties over because I felt like we could
get some you know, some rhythm. But that Eagles front,
they sure did whoop our ass and knocked us to
the ground. And now we're sitting here and we're punching
knee caps, and so was I. And you know what,
(29:47):
maybe I'll give those play calling duties backs because they
knocked the rhythm out of my ass and calling these games,
calling this game and you know what, Now, I gotta
take the blame for it, and I'll do it with
my players and my team.
Speaker 7 (30:00):
Next time, I'll get back up and I'll punch them
in the face. Oh, in the face, in the face.
Speaker 9 (30:08):
You know what, if you're standing up, you can punch
them in the face or punch him in the belly.
Speaker 7 (30:12):
But you know, you just say, punch him in the teeth.
Speaker 10 (30:14):
You know what I'm with this? You know what, var
you get, you get draw first blood.
Speaker 7 (30:20):
Let's baby, let's go, let's go. All right.
Speaker 10 (30:24):
Number two here we have head coach Sean Payton for
the Broncos.
Speaker 4 (30:29):
Uh.
Speaker 10 (30:30):
He was saying, there is a right way to win
each game, Lorena, could you go to mister Peyton please, there's.
Speaker 15 (30:35):
A white way to win each game and the players
will deserve a chance, uh to have that. And so
sometimes that can vary. But in a game where you
know a lot of guys were banged up and they
were fully healthy, it's a big one.
Speaker 7 (30:52):
Can we hear the first part of that again?
Speaker 1 (30:54):
Yeah?
Speaker 16 (30:54):
I want to hear that again too.
Speaker 15 (30:56):
There's a white way to win each game, and the
players deserve it.
Speaker 9 (30:59):
Okay, I thought maybe he just he had that post
game drass spit in his mouth and couldn't get it.
Speaker 16 (31:07):
You know I could get I used to not be
able to say my rs. They all came out as W'swait,
what did that sound?
Speaker 4 (31:14):
Right? Like?
Speaker 16 (31:14):
My name would be Luna, Yeah, Lowna. My dad's name
was Juan.
Speaker 3 (31:17):
How long ago?
Speaker 16 (31:19):
Third grade? I had to do speech therapy for like
three years.
Speaker 3 (31:24):
That's a long time ago that I thought you've had
like last years.
Speaker 16 (31:26):
Oh no, I wouldn't be in radio if I sounded
like that.
Speaker 3 (31:30):
I don't know. There's some people who've got some issues speaking.
Speaker 10 (31:35):
I guess my middle name would not be wrong.
Speaker 7 (31:38):
You guys are taking a shot at me. I was,
I was.
Speaker 10 (31:43):
You know, you know what, var prove them wrong? You
get to go first on his bar.
Speaker 3 (31:46):
Come on, ye yeah, wake up, come on, damn.
Speaker 7 (31:52):
I'm trying to say. Is is that? Listen? Man?
Speaker 9 (31:55):
No matter what type of when we get, we're going
to take it. Just think back. I was trying to
win with Russell Wilson at one point, and you know what,
how did that go? So I'm going to take these
wins the best way that I can get. Injuries, poor play,
I don't care. It's how I want it done. That's
how it's going to be, and that's what I'm living with,
(32:17):
and that is the right way of winning, the white
way of winning.
Speaker 7 (32:25):
Here we go.
Speaker 10 (32:25):
He did faity.
Speaker 7 (32:27):
Cats too, by the way, with my with my white gun.
Speaker 10 (32:30):
You know, all next up, Jonas, you get to go next.
Speaker 2 (32:36):
Sean Payton is saying, does this sound like I'm tripping
on my words? Because that's what our offense look like,
and it's what it's looked like the entire season. I'm
sitting here coaching a team supposed to be this offensive
guru and we are atrocious on that side.
Speaker 7 (32:50):
Of the ball.
Speaker 2 (32:51):
And another thing, can you believe that Vance Joseph was
fired by this organization and I somehow conned him into
coming here and being the defensive coordinator. If not for
we would be one of the worst teams in the
league thanks to Vans. And now I'm gonna go figure
out how I can put my rs and w's together
in a sentence next time.
Speaker 10 (33:10):
That's pretty good too, all right, Brady, let's hear it.
Speaker 3 (33:15):
Yeah, there's a right way to win these football games.
Speaker 6 (33:18):
And let me just remind you, we just beat Andy
Reid and I don't know why, you guys aren't talking
about being as being one of the best coaches, best
offensive minds in the NFL. Finding a way to win
over a guy like that who's got a quarterback in
Patrick Mahomes. My god, can you imagine what I'd be
doing to fid Patrick Mahomes. So, yeah, there is a
right way to winning football games. I know how to
win them, even though I don't have as good of
(33:39):
a quarterback or maybe as good of talent like a
Hall of Fame tight end in Travis Kelcey.
Speaker 3 (33:43):
We find ways of winning games.
Speaker 9 (33:46):
Okay, the winner of this round is did I tell
y'all I want to slap Russell Wilson in the face.
I just want to make sure I drat that point
home in this press or that no matter what it
is you think about the Denver Broncos, I still want to.
Speaker 3 (34:00):
Var needed a second round. This second round.
Speaker 10 (34:03):
You know what I was gonna. I was gonna give
this point to another person. But because of the second
round far you're up to.
Speaker 7 (34:10):
Yeah, up to oh yeah yeah wow.
Speaker 10 (34:12):
There are no rules. It's just that it happened.
Speaker 7 (34:18):
All this segment.
Speaker 2 (34:20):
This is blatant favoritism. Guys like Brady and I can't
get a fair shake in this town.
Speaker 7 (34:25):
What do you mean?
Speaker 3 (34:26):
You know what I mean?
Speaker 7 (34:28):
What do you mean like guys like that's not a
white officers.
Speaker 2 (34:33):
Old p swizzy back there is taking sides.
Speaker 10 (34:38):
I wouldn't say that, but what I will say is
Mike Kafka had something to say because he was he
was asked about benching Abdul Carter for that one series
in his game. Uh, Laurena, could you play for mister Kafka?
Speaker 17 (34:51):
That was a coach's decision. That's something we've talked about.
I want to make sure that was my decision, so we'll.
Speaker 7 (34:56):
Just keep the rest of that in house.
Speaker 3 (34:58):
We'll keep the rest of that in house.
Speaker 17 (35:00):
This was a coach's decision for me and talk.
Speaker 10 (35:02):
To that duel, all right, and the first person.
Speaker 7 (35:05):
To go here and talk to Abdul. That's what he said,
I believe.
Speaker 10 (35:10):
So if you want to replay that for us.
Speaker 17 (35:11):
Again, that was a coach's decision. That's something we talked about.
I want to make sure that was my decision, so
we'll just keep the rest of that in house. We'll
keep the rest of that in house. Just this was
a coach's decision for me and talk to that duel.
Speaker 10 (35:24):
Yeah, you talked to him.
Speaker 9 (35:25):
I'm I'm not I'm saying. Is he saying and I
talked to the Abdul? Or he's saying and you he's saying,
talk to Abdul like as into the media.
Speaker 7 (35:34):
You talk to Abdel.
Speaker 10 (35:37):
I heard him talking.
Speaker 7 (35:38):
I wasn't sure. I wouldn't want to take it out
of context.
Speaker 10 (35:42):
That's fair, That's what doings this entire secondent. Well, you
know what, who gets to go first on this is
actually mister breed. You get to think about that.
Speaker 6 (35:52):
Let all go and then let the other two guys go.
Then I'll go again. See if I can't try to
make more of a case for Yeah, Mike calf is saying, Look,
I'm young.
Speaker 7 (36:02):
I get it.
Speaker 6 (36:03):
I'm the internim head coach. No one respects me around here.
It's like a substance teacher. No one's listing, no one's
doing their homework. So I've got to lay down the law.
I've got to set a precedent here. And the reality is,
I've got a guy who comes from Penn State, like
all these other edge rushers that come from Penn State.
He's sleeping, he's just laying around. They're watching Micah Parsons
(36:24):
lay around on a training table. So now he's laying
around on a training table, missing walkthroughs, and I've got
to address this. I can't allow this stuff to happen anymore,
not on this team, not in my organization. I've got
a shot a beat a head coach somewhere, I've interviewed
for jobs, and I can't let this guy sleeping wherever
he wants mess with that.
Speaker 10 (36:43):
Okay, Okay, I like that. You know what, Jonas, you
get to go next.
Speaker 2 (36:50):
I mean, apparently this is a trend. As pointed out
at Penn State. Michael Parsons sleeps on a training table.
Abdul Carter sleeps and misses an entire practice for meeting.
It's disgusting. And by the way, check the guy's stats.
All bench him if I want to bench him. He's
got half a sack this year. That sounds like a
circumcision gone wrong. Next question, All right, I like that one, LaVar,
(37:16):
you've had time.
Speaker 10 (37:18):
What is your answer?
Speaker 9 (37:20):
Well, I'm sure Abdual doesn't wear turtlenecks. I'm sure he's
good on in that that department. But I will say this,
the the line of reasoning that coach brought to the
table for this discussion. Point was purely set forth by
him to Abdul Carter. Listen, the Penn State and Indie
(37:41):
Lions have been referenced multiple times in these these interpretations.
Here's the real one and here's the correct one. Their
team stinks this year. Damn struggle. They weren't they weren't good.
They're not in contention for a playoff bid, and yet
we were able to do that last year. Now, I
was a part of that, and right now I'm hurting.
(38:04):
I'm hurting emotionally. There's a little bit of physical in that.
I needed a little bit of recovery time, and you
know what, Coach gave it to him. We had the conversation.
In fact that rest time actually carried over into game time.
He actually needed a little bit more recovery in time
to heal from what's taking place in State College. And
(38:27):
that was the discussion that was had, but would not
have gone over well with the media in New York.
As we all know, there's sharks in the water when
things take place in New York City. Bang, bang, You
know what.
Speaker 10 (38:41):
Vard That was a very well thought out, concise, precise answer,
and I love it. However, the winner is Jonahs Knox
for this round.
Speaker 2 (38:49):
You're talking about.
Speaker 3 (38:49):
That way, Jonas Hell. Yeah, the circumcision congress.
Speaker 10 (38:52):
That's exactly what wanted for me.
Speaker 2 (38:54):
Yeah, half sack.
Speaker 16 (38:55):
You should have heard Patty's scream when you said it.
Speaker 10 (38:58):
Oh god, it was it was left.
Speaker 3 (39:00):
He got a circumcision comment.
Speaker 9 (39:01):
Only Jonas Knox will get away with a circumcision reference
to an explanation to.
Speaker 10 (39:07):
Much oh man, well fair number four here, guys.
Speaker 7 (39:12):
We have a respit on the last break. He had
to come up with some material.
Speaker 10 (39:20):
So Steelers coach Mike Tomlin, uh was you know it?
Talked and reacting to the whole face spitting thing with
Jamar Chas and Jaylen Ramsey. Lorena could play Tomlin's response,
I have.
Speaker 7 (39:32):
No message someone in your face? Do what comes natural?
Speaker 10 (39:37):
Yeah? That was just blunt with that. And you know what,
var you get to go first on this one.
Speaker 7 (39:42):
What a bomb?
Speaker 9 (39:44):
Bom bom bomb bum bomb bomb a This man never
troubles no one, but if you trouble this man, it will.
Speaker 7 (39:55):
Be a bom bomb? What a bomb? Bomb? What comes natural?
There you go, if you know you know, if you
know you know that, if you know you know, shock
a demon's baby.
Speaker 10 (40:09):
If you know you know Frady and you know what
I know that you get to go next.
Speaker 3 (40:14):
That's right. Uh, Mike Tom said, whoop his ass. Do
not let another man spit on you. It's as simple
as that.
Speaker 6 (40:22):
I guarantee you behind closed doors, you would have whooped
his ass through that next time.
Speaker 10 (40:27):
Ooh spicy.
Speaker 7 (40:29):
What if Jamar Chase can whoop him though?
Speaker 3 (40:32):
No Jenn Rams got to reach on him.
Speaker 10 (40:35):
That's fair. Well, you know who's got the reach. Uh
here we got Jonas Knox.
Speaker 2 (40:40):
Well, I mean, we're looking at a guy from Cincinnati
who's spin on another man. And if you've ever been
to Cincinnati, you've been a Skyline Chili. There's a lot
of people spitting out the food there. I don't blame him.
Speaker 3 (40:51):
I understand what disrespect.
Speaker 2 (40:52):
And whether it's this gold Star, whether it's Skylons, it's
brutal and I can understand where he comes from. That
being said, my guy had every right to punch him
in his face.
Speaker 16 (41:03):
Oh you gotta give him that houck dude that night.
Speaker 10 (41:07):
Thank you, Lorena Well the winner of this one. Honestly,
this one was actually really close. But we do have
a winner. And it is the vampire himself, mister Jones
talking about put that in your pipe. It's you're getting
you were close, come arady, I know you got it
in you.
Speaker 6 (41:25):
I'm not happy about Patti Sweet disrespecting Skyline Chili like that.
Speaker 10 (41:29):
I just I've never had I just thought it was funny.
Speaker 2 (41:33):
It's runny.
Speaker 3 (41:34):
Fair well, I'm running. You've never even had it, have
clown in a can?
Speaker 2 (41:40):
It was sent to me. It was sent to me
in a can, and.
Speaker 6 (41:44):
Which is not having it then because you've never actually
been there, so you wouldn't know if it's runny.
Speaker 2 (41:48):
Then I've had Skyline chili in a can and it sucked.
Speaker 7 (41:53):
Such a strong opinion about chili.
Speaker 3 (41:56):
I just made chili, So that's like saying you can do.
That's like go to Carbones and be like, you know what,
I had their chicken pearl.
Speaker 6 (42:03):
I thought the sauce was kind of off, and then
like getting the bottle or like the cannifate at home,
be like, oh, it's exact same.
Speaker 10 (42:11):
Yeah, No, it's not a fair comp all right, we
have it.
Speaker 3 (42:13):
There's one hundred. How is that any different than what you're.
Speaker 2 (42:15):
Talking about a fair comp because I've actually have never
been to the restaurant, but I've had it in the
can exactly.
Speaker 10 (42:21):
Yeah, oh my goodness. All right, we have a final
one here, guys. This is either for all the marbles
or Brady finally gets on the board and we have
a stalemate between var and Jonas. So we have Lane Kiffin,
old missus head coach, and he was asked, you know,
if there's anything going on since he's looking around. Possibly
he said, there's no ultimatum that he's giving to his team. Lourene,
(42:43):
could you play for mister Kiffin.
Speaker 13 (42:44):
That's absolutely not true. There's been no ultimating anything like
that at all. And so I don't know where that
came from, Like a lot of stuff that comes out there.
Speaker 7 (42:52):
Like I said, man, we're having a blast. I love
it here.
Speaker 10 (42:56):
And that was mister Kiffin. And you know what to
plead case here, Brady, you get to go first.
Speaker 6 (43:02):
Yeah, coach is saying, look I heard that Wolves just said.
Speaker 3 (43:07):
And I think Skyline Chili is great. I think Jonas
Knox is a d bag.
Speaker 6 (43:11):
He should probably go to Scotline Chili if he actually
wants to taste what it tastes like instead of just
referencing out of a can like all these other LSU
people who I'm not going there, all right, I'm standing
old miss going to Florida.
Speaker 3 (43:21):
Be either way. I've had Skyline Chili and it's delicious,
and Jonas Knock is a d bag.
Speaker 10 (43:28):
Scathing I like it. You know what, Jonas's counterpoint, you
get to go next.
Speaker 2 (43:35):
Yeah, I'm not going to be attacked, right, I'm not
going to be attacked by boosters. I'm not going to
be attacked by people wanting more nil money. And I'm
definitely not going to be attacked by somebody who's trying
to pound the table for Skyline Chili. They're a cabana
boy for Skyline Chili for some ungodly reason, and it
discussed me. So No, I won't take any coaching job
in Cincinnati. I won't take a coaching job in Baton Rouge.
(43:58):
But yeah, there's been some ultimate okay for our final word.
Speaker 7 (44:05):
I don't give a damn about Skyline Chili.
Speaker 9 (44:08):
I don't give a damn about Ohio in this scenario,
and I damn sure don't give a damn about no
deadlines or ultimatums. I'm laying kiffin. I've been left on
a tarmac before jobless. Hell, I've been left by the
person that was supposed to love me the most in life.
I've gone through a whole lot in my life, and
(44:30):
you know what it's led this. It's led to me
being on top. And ain't nobody, and I mean nobody
gonna rush me to the decision that I make. So
if there's any offers out there for me, get at
my agent, old miss, you want me to stay, get
(44:52):
at my agent.
Speaker 7 (44:54):
Press conference is over, lane is.
Speaker 10 (44:58):
Out, and with that, the concessions are in, the voting
is in, and the winner. By the way, this gets
three points. I just threw that in there because it
was so fiery and inspiring. I'm just giving three points
because we have a clear winner here.
Speaker 3 (45:17):
Brady Queen, this is I would have but three points.
Speaker 10 (45:26):
It was fiery, it was inspiring. First blood, it hit
me my heart, is this a suck up?
Speaker 7 (45:31):
Here?
Speaker 4 (45:32):
Are you?
Speaker 7 (45:34):
It was You're not.
Speaker 6 (45:35):
You're not a part of the fine system, Lurana, do
not try to pull Patty Sweet into this, all right?
Speaker 3 (45:41):
There for many reasons, it was.
Speaker 7 (45:44):
Very Jonas Knox, Like I'm just saying.
Speaker 6 (45:46):
First off, he lets you go a second time and
then gave you the point well, that is true.
Speaker 10 (45:51):
That is true.
Speaker 7 (45:51):
Okay, that is true.
Speaker 10 (45:53):
There are no rules.
Speaker 7 (45:54):
I didn't hear me. You don't hear me. Beef witting though,
you know what I mean.
Speaker 10 (45:57):
L A.
Speaker 7 (45:58):
You know you gotta.
Speaker 3 (46:00):
Someone trying to to like dis a place they've never
actually been to.
Speaker 6 (46:06):
I've had something from the place you have, not Something
in a can is not really from that place, from
like a factory, a mass produced.
Speaker 2 (46:14):
I know who Jeffrey Dahmer is. I don't need to
meet his parents. I know where he comes from. I
know where that can can. I know where that can
came from.
Speaker 7 (46:22):
I's very dark, very vampire like.
