(00:33):
doing so. We'll be taking you all the way up
until nine am Eastern time, six o'clock Pacific. We open
up the weekend in the NFL talking about the Detroit
Lions big win over the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday Night Football.
Speaking of teams in the NFC North, good news. JJ
McCarthy is cleared concussion protocol and he is going to
(00:55):
be back under center for the Minnesota Vikings. JJ McCarthy
speak about if anything's changed for him since his last
start because things have not gone well there, and he said,
quote a lot of the mentality has changed, for sure.
I was just so focused on doing every rep perfect
and making sure every little detail was crossed and checked off.
I feel like coach O'Connell and coach McCown them talking
(01:18):
to me about, Hey, let's worry about that stuff in
the offseason.
Speaker 3 (01:21):
Go out there, play your ball. Just execute the play.
Speaker 2 (01:24):
That just frees up a lot of space mentally to
be instinctual, react and respond to what the defense is
giving me. So JJ McCarthy, maybe we'll get a brand
new version of him. Maybe we are done with nine
and maybe he will graduate to ten. Who knows, but
JJ McCarthy is going to be the guy for the
Minnesota Vikings as he has cleared concussion protocol in what
(01:47):
I would say has been pretty close to a disaster
for the Vikings this year.
Speaker 4 (01:53):
Quarterback.
Speaker 5 (01:57):
I can't think of another quarterback that a team has
given up on or it feels like they're I don't know,
maybe it's just me, but watching how they handle everything
with him, it's incredibly delicate. It's it's almost as if
you know, unless he can be one hundred percent, they
(02:18):
don't want I'm touching the field. I just I look
at this, he's sort of what six games in his career, Yeah,
missed this entire rookie season. So got to kind of
sit and watch and learn, But it feels like they're
almost already ready to move on.
Speaker 6 (02:32):
Am I am I looking at this the wrong way.
Speaker 4 (02:35):
That's what it seems like. That's what it seems like.
Speaker 7 (02:37):
I mean, I mean, if you if you look at
what his body of work has been, I think the
biggest question mark, at least for me, would be, how
is it that two other quarterbacks have been able.
Speaker 4 (02:50):
To and maybe even three if we really need to look.
Speaker 7 (02:53):
At how have they been able to have success in
this offensive scheme with the same players and JJ McCarthy can't, Like,
I think that there's been enough credibility built by the
coaching staff to know that a quarterback is in a
great situation to have success in this offense, in this
(03:14):
specific offense. So I would tend to think that, yeah,
this is a situation where maybe we don't have the
time to try to develop JJ McCarthy, and maybe that
is the ultimate idea of possibly having to move on
from having him as the starter of your team.
Speaker 2 (03:34):
It just seems to me like he's trying every like
he's We've heard so much from him about you know,
his moniker, his approach. How this time it's going to
be different about what he's trying. It's almost like he's
and I don't know if trying too hard is the
right term, but it's almost like that's what it feels
like that he recognizes and I've thought this for a
(03:56):
while now, that he recognizes he's got a great spot
with a lot of talent and a really successful coach
and a good roster and a great opportunity, and they've
anointed him as the guy. And it's almost as if
he recognizes in real time, Oh, I'm the weak link here,
(04:16):
like I'm the one who's not at that level yet
for a team that they talked about there. You know,
all the reporting was the Vikings feel like they've got
a three year window. Well now you're down a year
because this year has been a waste. So now you're
down to you got two years left, and you're gonna
have a quarterback who's going to feel the heat even more.
Justin Jefferson seems frustrated. It just and when you couple
(04:39):
that with the fact that Daniel Jones ha had a
pretty good year in Indianapolis, Sam Darnold's had a pretty
good year in Seattle, and those are both guys who
were there last year and you chose him over them.
In essence, this is just not gone anywhere close to
what I think anybody is expected.
Speaker 5 (04:55):
No, and it's a team too, I think, you know,
coming to the season with those as high expectation because
of what their defense has been. Offensively, the weapons they
have and what we've seen in the past, I mean,
they could compete. I know that division is tough, and
obviously the Bears have improved. The Lions are what an
eight to five football team? Now we know how good
the Packers can be. And it's a tough division, don't
(05:18):
get me wrong, but there was high expectations for this team,
and rightfully so, and it doesn't feel like they're getting
anything close to what they're accustomed to from the quarterback
position when he's in there, and this is one of
those positions we're kind of similar to Kyle Shanahan and
that system where most everyone plays really well. Things are
(05:39):
formulated for you to have success. The throws are there,
it's just you got to go out and execute, and
he's struggling to do so. And that's again, I don't
want to be too harsh on this because it really
is his rookie year. I know he didn't play last
year is hurt. He was watching, he's learning, and this
is his first real time for experience. But this is
(06:00):
also a player who didn't necessarily lack experience coming from
the college football level, you know, maybe lacked some of
the reps throwing the football and some of the things
we had discussed about him. And it was funny they
actually played out in this past week's you know game
for a Hoigo State Michigan was you know, two years ago,
Michigan had dominated and played to the point where they
really hadn't asked JJ McCarthy to do much. You know,
(06:22):
he didn't make many throws in the fourth quarter that
were meaningful throws in games. Now he eventually had to
in order to win a national championship, and he did that.
Speaker 6 (06:32):
Year where they asked him too on third down.
Speaker 5 (06:34):
They'd asked him to in various situations to make throws,
make plays in order for them to be able.
Speaker 6 (06:39):
To go on to win a national championship. So he
proved that.
Speaker 5 (06:43):
But if you looked at his total attempts versus some
like Caleb Williams or someone else who falls in that category,
I mean, it was almost like an entire season less.
So I'm not giving up on him. I still think
there's a foundation of tools that he he can utilize and.
Speaker 6 (07:02):
He can get the job done with.
Speaker 5 (07:04):
But they've got to figure out how to getting him,
you know, playing a little faster, being better with this,
fe being more accurate the football, because all those things
have taken a hit. You know, when you watch him
come in there and start football games, he's just not
the same player, is not as confident of a player
as what we saw in college. And I don't know
if it's the whole number nine thing. He's got that
(07:26):
whole weird thing going on that's become like an internet meme.
But and by the way, that might have been one
of the worst things ever. Like I just god, after
like one win too, you.
Speaker 7 (07:37):
Know, they are one win away from having three times
the amounts of losses they had all of last year.
One one loss away. And I just find it interesting
you go from being fourteen and three and they tailed off,
Like I'm not going to say, like, oh, they had
this perfect season and Sam Darnold had this this like
(07:59):
the magic well he kind of did, but they did
tail off. They did tail off, and it didn't look.
Speaker 4 (08:07):
As good.
Speaker 7 (08:09):
Later in the year as it did early on, and
I just wonder did that have any impact on where
this team is is it does the blame of this
team playing so poorly solely belong at the feet of.
Speaker 4 (08:26):
JJ McCarthy.
Speaker 2 (08:27):
Well to your point, and we talked about it in
real time, Sam Donald. Basically his year got spoiled because
of two games. Like if you think about it, last year,
it was the final two games, it was the playoff game,
but it was also that finale where they played the Lions,
and there was an opportunity for them to host a
playoff game, win the division, all of that, and then
(08:48):
they had to go on the road.
Speaker 3 (08:49):
Because of that. Other than that, Sam Donald, remember we
were talking about last year, was.
Speaker 2 (08:53):
In the MVP conversation. So let's just say, Sam Donald,
you know has at or let's say he split those
two games, Say you know, he has a disappointing performance
in the finale, but he plays well in the playoff
game and they still lose. Are they still making the
same decision, like were they already committed to JJ McCarthy,
Because I don't think.
Speaker 7 (09:14):
I don't think they could, even though they would probably
be on the hook to try and to figure it
out with JJ McCarthy. I mean, because I mean, a
three lost season should not constitute you, you know, losing
your gig as the starter. And then now you see
how he's doing. You see how he's doing now for
(09:36):
the Seattle Seahawks, I mean, they're ten and seven and
they're in position to win the NFC West. They're in
a battle with the Rams. So maybe they're a better team.
Maybe they're the same type of team with Sam Donald.
Maybe they're maybe they saw Sam Donald's ceiling and said
that it was just it made more sense to move
(09:57):
on and.
Speaker 4 (09:57):
See what we have with JJ McCarthy.
Speaker 7 (09:59):
But the point of is are they moving on from
JJ McCarthy now? I guess now I listen to what
I just said, is it even possible for them to
cash or cash him in or check out on him
right now? Knowing that you had a guy that led
you to the playoffs, led you to a three loss season,
(10:20):
you know, you had a tremendously successful season under Sam
Darnold's campaign. You can't check out on on JJ McCarthy
this quickly.
Speaker 2 (10:30):
Well, you could if you're the Niners and you you
draft somebody with the final pick of the draft and
he ends up playing well, Like you can do that,
Like what they did was Trey Lance.
Speaker 4 (10:38):
Men, how's he going to get in to do that?
Speaker 3 (10:40):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (10:40):
I just hope you got mister irrelevant and he ends
up being a you know, a good quarterback in the league.
Speaker 7 (10:45):
I mean, I guess when you're not, when you're playing
bad enough for a guy to play, he's going to
get in. We've learned that from the Browns, So I mean,
maybe maybe that is the point on.
Speaker 5 (10:54):
Damnesh, don't be don't be knocking you door like that
play the rest of the season.
Speaker 7 (11:00):
I'm not knocking anybody. I was just merely stating that
I was wondering how mister irrelevant would get in in Minnesota.
Speaker 4 (11:09):
But they're not very good, so maybe he would get in.
Speaker 2 (11:13):
I mean, he's kind but as we've talked about, it's
also the availability which is the issue.
Speaker 3 (11:19):
Like it's not like the poor play.
Speaker 2 (11:21):
I guess you could listen, he's struggling, but you know
we've seen signs, but he's just never in there long
enough to really get an evaluation. And whatever they thought
maybe this year was going to be a throwaway evaluation
year for him, and he's going to grow and develop
and next year is going to be the one where
he really you know, we see it, Spike. They're no,
(11:42):
they're not closer to it. They're closer to the answer
being he's not the guy than they are. He is
the guy, And but it's still so vague and up
in the air that they don't. I just I'm really
curious to see how they approach the offseason because they're
kind of bringing a quarterback, right I would assume they
have to.
Speaker 5 (11:59):
They have to, and they'd have the money and the
ability to do so because you know, they stove JG
on this rookie deal. The hard part for them is
they've got to make a decision after next year on
JJ on his fifty year option as well as a
potential you know, would they look to extend him or
is he is he going to be starting?
Speaker 6 (12:18):
Is he going to start to be in there? Cap
planning for that?
Speaker 5 (12:21):
And I would say, as of right now, it's more
likely than not that he's not going to get a
fifth year option picked up and they wouldn't look to
extend him. And it always puts a team in a
tough spot because if he has that one good year,
you find yourselves in the Daniel Jones situation where you
sit there and say, all right, well, now we've we've
(12:43):
got to you know, we've we've got to extend it.
Speaker 6 (12:46):
We got to do something.
Speaker 5 (12:47):
Whereas you know, they've again go back and look how
that should have worked out for the Giants. They franchise
tag Saquon, they extend Daniel Jones, and if they could
go back over and do it again, and I think
they've admitted as much to this as they would have
picked up the fifth year option on Daniel Jones, they
would have signed Saquon to the longer term deal, which
(13:10):
would have saved them the most money under the cap,
and they would have made Daniel Jones prove it again
and if they needed to, maybe even to use a
franchise tag, so a shorter one year commitment. And so
that's the hard part is you put yourself in a
tough spot where if the quarterback goes and has that
one good year, now you're gonna have to break out
(13:30):
the bank for him, or you have to go through
the pr issue of all right, you know, he's unhappy
because we're not getting a long term deal. He's under
the franchise tag like any other player, so that becomes
then an issue. But I just it feels like there's
going to be competition. It feels like they don't want
to admit they made a mistake, but they feel like
(13:50):
they have. And for me, it's just too soon, Like
I just don't want to read it. I mean, I look, sir,
Door started three games. Let the kids start the rest
of the season. See what you got in him as
opposed you know, and with JJ McCarthy, it's like he's
got six starts. Yeah, let's see how this thing goes.
If you can stay healthy and play some better football,
maybe get some momentum going into the offseason. But can
(14:12):
he please cut out the number nine bs? Yeah, that's
just the stupidest.
Speaker 3 (14:15):
Thing, uh that, you know.
Speaker 2 (14:17):
I mean, upon further review, they probably should have just
signed Rogers to that one year deal, Like, just signed Rogers,
let him play indoors, let him play with those receivers
and uh.
Speaker 5 (14:29):
Yeah, but then it would have followed too much. No,
it would have been too much like Brett Farr. It
would have been the exact path that Brett Farv had.
You would have went from the Packers to the Jets.
Speaker 6 (14:39):
And the Vikings. It would have been the exact same thing.
Speaker 3 (14:43):
Well, there would have been some differences.
Speaker 6 (14:45):
What they're watching, Reiver, Yeah, their watch.
Speaker 4 (14:50):
That's a good way of putting it. Yeah, Receiver.
Speaker 7 (14:53):
All I know is you wouldn't have found out what
JJ McCarthy was capable of doing. We had to get
here to get here, you know what I mean. We
had to get to him playing and seeing what he
could do to be able to have the conversation that
we're having now. I mean, it could have gone either way.
He could have had a lot of success, but he
just hasn't had that. And it's just one of those things.
(15:15):
Is it a development thing?
Speaker 4 (15:17):
You know? Is he trying harder?
Speaker 7 (15:19):
Is there the possibility that he could be Maybe, like
you guys said, he's trying so hard to be successful,
But he's trying with the knowledge of having a year
to have watched it. It's not like he's trying too
hard as a true rookie, right, He's had an opportunity
to see what a season looks like, to see what
(15:39):
successful preparation looks like and how it's executed. And I
just wonder, is he trying to live up to a
standard in the way that he's doing things that isn't
realistic to what he brings to the table. And you
got to live in who you are and what you
do and how you're able to process things and do
things and move at your pace to improve. As as
(16:02):
a quarterback in the National Football League. I wonder is
he is has he put too much expectation on him?
It can be easy coming in and being the starter.
After what happened the way it happened with Sam Darnold
the year before, that's probably extra added pressure on him
to have to be something that the fan base is
looking at and saying, Okay, he needs to be better
(16:24):
than Sam Darnald. And that's three losses in a playoff
bid and in the MVP conversation, and in the MVP conversation,
you guys got rid of him to put this guy in.
That's instant pressure that that probably you know, it's it's
had a bearing on how he's he's prepared and how
(16:45):
he's played.
Speaker 1 (16:47):

honor to share the stage with you here every more.
Speaker 7 (18:11):
That should be ten dollars right there. That's kidding that
you're kissing up. You're kissing up like what you do
with with Dean and what you do with uh with
uh Chrisco.
Speaker 4 (18:23):
You're you're kissing up, and that should be to your honor.
Speaker 3 (18:26):
I'm being attacked.
Speaker 4 (18:28):
I think that should be added to.
Speaker 6 (18:30):
The first off.
Speaker 5 (18:32):
The first off, we don't we don't necessarily have a
a big fine for the whole kissing up sucking up thing.
All right, It's a self suck is what the fine
is for. But to your point, there is the guest sucked,
which Blandino came into play. I don't know that I
put him in there. But Jonas, please stop with the compliments.
(18:53):
No one likes them. We're men, all right, We just
we hate ourselves. We move through life and then we die,
all right, So let's get to the whatever the next
segment is.
Speaker 2 (19:01):
Yeah, but what a glorious life that is that you've lived.
I just want to point that out.
Speaker 6 (19:05):
Yes, that's as a man, that's what we do, all right, So.
Speaker 4 (19:10):
I as a man, that's what we do. Bro, That's
what we do.
Speaker 3 (19:14):
Again.
Speaker 2 (19:15):
You're gonna hear fair and balanced, fair and balanced appeal
hearings coming up in about twenty minutes from now.
Speaker 3 (19:22):
Here on the show.
Speaker 4 (19:23):
So you're in balanced.
Speaker 3 (19:24):
Yeah, very fair and balanced, as he always is. I
mean he deserves that, all right.
Speaker 6 (19:28):
Can we get to this all right?
Speaker 3 (19:29):
So right now it is time for this.
Speaker 6 (19:35):
I'm a winner. Listen up. Winning cures all illnesses.
Speaker 4 (19:38):
It really does.
Speaker 6 (19:39):
I'm going to win. It's Quinn's wins all right. Conference
Championship weekend. It is here.
Speaker 5 (19:47):
Last week nine and eight eked out the over five
hundred record that brings us to fifty fifty two and.
Speaker 6 (19:54):
Three on the years.
Speaker 5 (19:54):
So we've still got a number of bets this weekend
to get us back over that five hundred number. And
it all kicks off today Kennesaw State at Jacksonville State
for the Conference USA Championship. Jacksonville State's a two and
a half point dog. It's at seven pm Eastern time
(20:16):
on CBS Sports Network.
Speaker 6 (20:18):
Jacksonville State won this game like.
Speaker 5 (20:20):
Seventeen days ago, by the way, and it was a
large part because quarterback Kaden Kreole, the running back Cam Cook.
They rushed for over twitter and fifty yards. Three tunnies
and I'll see Kannessas State through like four interceptions in
that one.
Speaker 6 (20:32):
So that game was a wrap. Look, the Kansas State
defense is leaky.
Speaker 5 (20:35):
I like Jacksonville State in this one, not only just
to cover the two and a half, but to win outright, Jonas,
keep me honest with the Lions two.
Speaker 4 (20:45):
On this one.
Speaker 3 (20:45):
Yeah, those those lines are accurate.
Speaker 5 (20:47):
Okay, still at two and a half. Next up, we're
gonna venture Onto. Let's just call it one of the
bigger matchups in the Sun Belt, the Sun Belt Championship.
James Madison with an outside shot of getting into the
College Football Playoff, just steamrolling everyone this year. They're hosting
Troy and you can find that game seven pm Eastern
(21:08):
time on ESPN. This is a game where's a big number.
James Madison's laying twenty two and a half. Look, they're
one of the top teams in the country, I say
top thirty teams in the country.
Speaker 6 (21:19):
Troy's run games inconsistent.
Speaker 5 (21:20):
Their offensive line is going to struggle to protect versus
JAMU and their defense for Troy gives up over like
four yards.
Speaker 6 (21:27):
A game, so it's a big line. I'm gonna stay
away from it.
Speaker 5 (21:31):
I do like the over of forty six and a half,
though I think James mass will put up a pretty
big number. I do think Troy will be able to
put up some points too to hit that over of
forty six and a half.
Speaker 6 (21:42):
So that's the.
Speaker 5 (21:42):
Play in the Sun Belt Championship. Next up another game
with a potential winner going to the college football Playoff.
It's the AAC Championship North Texas headed to Tulane taking
on down to New Orleans. That game will kick off
at eight pm East on ABC. Now this is a
little bit odd because again the winner is probably going
(22:05):
to go to the College Football Playoff as the highest
ranked group of six team. I remember Tulane owns the
head to head over Duke. They beat them earlier this year,
so even if Duke was want to win the ACC,
there'd be that head to head that the committee would
have to look at. In Duke's a five lost team.
But this game, there's gonna be a lot of explosion.
Tulane can run the football, in particular, I Retslov at
(22:27):
quarterback North Texas with Drew Mestamaker, they can sling it
all around the field.
Speaker 6 (22:32):
This is one though, where it's just a bad matchup.
Speaker 5 (22:34):
But I think for North Texas their defense struggles to
stop the run. That's Tulane's calling card. Tulane's also one
of the top scoring defense in the country top twenty five.
Give me Tulane plus two and a half and one
side note too, both these head coaches, Eric Morris for
North Texas and John Summer all for Tulane moving on
to new places.
Speaker 6 (22:54):
Morris head to Oklhoma State.
Speaker 5 (22:55):
Some are all headed to Florida, so wondering how that
would potentially play a factor in all this. Next up
Mount West Championship on Fox at eight pm Eastern Time.
UNLV headed to Boise. It feels like this is the
matchup we've gotten the past few years. This is also
a rematch of a game that was played early in
October and Boise beat up on UNLV, and I think
(23:16):
that same thing may happen. It was a close game
at halftime and then boys, he really ran away with
way within the second half. But UNLV's won a top
scoring offense in the country. Boys, you can run the football.
They're more of a complete team, but they've got the
better defense. So I'm gonna do two things here. I'm
laying the points with Boise at three and a half
last time I checked, But I also think the over
(23:37):
of fifty seven and a half is the other play
in this one. Just not a great matchup for UNLV.
The Smurf Turf tough place to win. In fact, UNLV
has never won there. They're OH to seven all time
and UNLV ish to ten and it's last ten versus
Boise so it's been a tough matchup for them.
Speaker 6 (23:55):
Update.
Speaker 2 (23:56):
Next up, Oh what we got Boise State minus four
and a half? Now the over unders at fifty nine
and a half.
Speaker 6 (24:03):
No two point swing.
Speaker 5 (24:06):
Oh still taking the over higher scoring affair than the
Smurf Turf. We were there last year. Next up, Saturday
Slate Big twelve Championship. It's at noon on ABC. BYU
at Texas another rematch that'll be said earlier this season.
Texas Tech wiped the floor with BYU. There was really
(24:26):
not much they could do right in that game. I
still see this one being lopsided, but I'm gonna stay
away from the spread. The numbers at thirteen and a
half just too many points for a rematch for me,
but I do like the over of forty nine and
a half in this one. Texas the more talent seed
all over the field, so take the over. I think
there'll be a fair amount of scoring in this one,
but again, thirteen and a half points too many for me,
(24:47):
But I like Texas Tech to roll. Next up the
MAC Championship, miam ojail at Western Michigan and Western Michigan's
given two and a half. You can find this game
at twelve pm Easter time on ESPN. Miami won the
early A matchup this season, but that was back when
they had their quarterback Avion Smith. He's been out since then.
It's been freshman quarterback Thomas Kaikowski. He's taken over.
Speaker 6 (25:08):
The offense hasn't quite looked the same, to be honest.
They're two and two in that stretch.
Speaker 5 (25:11):
Meanwhile, Western Michigan had won four to oh since that game,
mostly because the Russian attack. Buckley their running backs a
good player, brock Lowry to a quarterback and contote the
rock too.
Speaker 6 (25:21):
So I like Western Michigan to maintain the momentum.
Speaker 5 (25:24):
You lay the two and a half points here, but
I also like the under a forty four and a half.
Miami's had a tough time scoring points since the freshman
quarterback Gotikowski has taken over. So there's your play for
the MAC Championship next up here go.
Speaker 2 (25:37):
We got Western Michigan minus one and a half over
under forty three and a half.
Speaker 6 (25:44):
Okay, I still like the under.
Speaker 5 (25:46):
Still like Western Michigan laying a point and a half
in this one. The SC Championship game Georgia head Actually
they playing in the Mercedes Benz Dome in Atlanta, four
pm Eastern time on ab Georgia giving two and a
half points. The over under set at forty eight and
a half. Again, another rematch where Bama won this one
twenty four to twenty one. But I feel like these
(26:08):
two teams have gone in a little bit different directions.
Georgea's passing game has continued to come along, and George
has proven to be better in the trenches. Alabama to me,
is very one dimensional offensively. It's all Ti Simpson. In
this passing game. They struggled to run the football, they
struggled to stop the run. I think Georgia wins this one.
I'm laying the points with the dogs at two and
a half, and I also like the over of forty
(26:30):
eight and a half in this game too. I do
think there'll be a fair amount of scoring in this one.
Next up the Big Ten Championship game Ohio State Indiana
Lucas Oil eight pm Eastern Time on Fox. Over under
said at forty eight and a half. OSU was giving
four last time I looked. This is one where you
just go ahead and say you lay the four points
to the Ohio State and you take the under. I
(26:52):
don't know how much Indiana will score. Ohio States defense
only given up nine touchdowns the entire season.
Speaker 6 (26:57):
Nine that's it. I'm not sure d scores two. That's
how good their defense has been.
Speaker 5 (27:03):
I do think the Buckeyes too will be able to
outmatch with some of the talent and speed this Indiana
team that will try to keep everything in front of them.
But to me, this will have state teams the best
team in the country. So lay the points, take the under.
And finally, the ACC Championship game held there in Charlotte
Bank of America Stadium eight pm Eastern Time, Duke versus
(27:24):
Uva UVA laying four points last time I checked. Now,
remember the UVA dominated rematch earlier this season. They won
thirty four to fourteen. In fact, the score is really
thirty one to three going into the fourth quarter, where
Duke was able to rip off a couple of touchdowns.
And historically the UVA has dominated this series too, They're
nine to one in the last ten. Duke plays more
of a boomer bust style. I think that's when they
(27:45):
play a little bit close to this time around. I
want to take Duke and the four points to go
ahead and cover that number, if not outright win, and
I do think it's going to throw this college football
playoff into a tail spin for the committee. If indeed
this does happen, Ill like Duke plus four and that
is your Quinn's wins for Confeence Championship weekend.
Speaker 2 (28:05):
That's what I'm talking about right there by the way,
the Indiana Ohio State the total in that game is
at forty seven and a half. Now, so which one
Indiana Ohio State so Big ten Championship game is at forty.
Speaker 4 (28:19):
Seven and a half.
Speaker 2 (28:20):
So still like the under, all right, so let's go.
Speaker 7 (28:23):
I like to add some hot sauce to Quinn's wins.
While I'm watching those games that play out that Brady
just talked about, I like to put some original Louisiana
hot sauce on it. Three simple ingredients onto my plate,
onto your plate. Turns any Tuesday, any Wednesday, Thursday, and
a Friday, that's right into a tailgate day. So no
(28:43):
matter what day it is, grab that original Louisiana hot
sauce and add a little bit to well your day,
make it a game day. That's Louisiana hot sauce by
you soon, all right.
Speaker 2 (28:54):
So let's see what a what a parlay would look
like here on all those picks. All right, so let's
see see what we got here a little part, if
you will, we'll try ten dollars. A ten dollars parlay
on all those Quinns wins on DraftKings would pay out
just over twenty three thousand dollars ten bucks, ten bucks much.
Speaker 4 (29:15):
That's as much we was hitting a millions before.
Speaker 6 (29:18):
Well, I mean that's right. Did you include all like
the spreads, the runners, the whole thing, all of them.
Speaker 2 (29:23):
The only one that wasn't included was I think you
liked Jacksonville State to win outright as well too. If
you wanted to add the outright winners in, then we'd
start seeing the price go up a little bit. So
so you Jacksonville State will add that one in. You
like to win outright, Duke? Do you like to win
outright as well too? Is that what you said?
Speaker 5 (29:43):
Yeah, I mean it's really just my sister went to UVA,
so it's a little sibling rivalry. But I think they're
like a boomer Bus style of play where I do
think UVa's do overall better team. But Mensaw to me
is one of the best quarterbacks in the country and
if he gets rolling, man, it could be a problem
for UVA.
Speaker 2 (30:01):
Yeah, so have you added those Yeah, either're not gonna
let us do it, son of a bitch.
Speaker 5 (30:07):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (30:07):
If you start adding in money lines along.
Speaker 2 (30:09):
With points spreads, it's you know, you can't really parlay that,
but you know, tend to win twenty three grand not
bad man, I mean, it's not the seventeen eighteen game
parlay we were trying to pull off. But uh, how
as far as confidence level goes, how confident are.
Speaker 3 (30:26):
You in these picks heading into this weekend?
Speaker 6 (30:29):
Feel pretty confident? You know, feel pretty confident. I think
we get above five hundred.
Speaker 5 (30:33):
After this week, I'm more I'm more a little shaky
on my Irish and what some of these outcomes would
mean for Notre Dame making the playoff. And I'm one
of those people that I know the Notre Dame fan
base gets really upset when you say this stuff. But
you know, I heard some people point out the fact that, hey,
head head should matter, and I'm with them, head head
should matter if it came down between Miami and Notre
(30:55):
Dame because of the head to head game they played
her this season. That's how it works. Like, I don't
want that. Do I think Notre Dame is the better team?
Do I think if they'd win if they played right now?
Speaker 6 (31:04):
Of course?
Speaker 5 (31:05):
But the truth of the matter is they already played
and even though it was Week one, and Notre Dame
is a much better team that's continued to ascend and
Miami is kind of tailed off.
Speaker 6 (31:15):
You know, it's it's unfortunate, but you have to look
at that as part of the resume.
Speaker 5 (31:20):
Now, I will also say this, I do think that
Notre Dame and Miami are both better teams than BYU
and Bama. I think if Bama loses it shouldn't be
a foregone conclusion that they're in. I think people should
look at this and say, they're a three loss team.
Yes they've got some good wins, and yes they beat
George earlier this season, but do we really believe that
Bama is one of the best twelve teams? And really,
(31:42):
you can't even say twelve, it's more like best ten
because you're throwing in the group of six conference champ
They're not obviously one of the best twelve teams in
the country if we're being real, and you may very
well help James Madison end up playing in it. If
Duke very well knocks off Uva, you might not have
the AC champion. So I sit there and look at
it and say, there's there's two big issues the scheduling,
(32:05):
like the ACC and how their highest ranked team in
Miami is unfortunately not a part of the conference championship,
because then they really there wouldn't be really any argument
they win the ACC, they'd be in and and they'd
leave Frog Notre Dame anyway, so this wouldn't be a
problem for the committee, wouldn't be a problem for anyone.
But unfortunately the ACC can't figure things out and then
(32:25):
you look at how it's worded, and they wanted to
give the committee the autonomy to have, you know, basically,
the top four teams get buys whoever they see those
top four teams to be and instead of you know,
changing the language of how we talked about maybe the
group of six being involved too, because now you might
get a James Madison and you might get a Tulane
(32:46):
in there, or North Texas. And if we're being honest
with ourselves, every single one of the other ten teams
should would wipe the floor.
Speaker 4 (32:53):
With those teams.
Speaker 2 (32:56):
If Alabama gets wiped out, Saint George is just beats
their ass this weekend open again.
Speaker 5 (33:03):
I hope they're out, But I bet if you look
up the Betty market on whether or not Bama makes
the College Wall Playoff, it's minus money and probably minus
three hundred four hundred.
Speaker 6 (33:12):
And the reality is is.
Speaker 5 (33:13):
They're just it's not the same Bama team, Like we're
almost basically off their brand.
Speaker 6 (33:18):
And I said this earlier this week.
Speaker 5 (33:19):
If you are a conspiracy theorist and you think that
ESPN isn't pushing to have a conference that they own
exclusively in essence because of their affiliation and doesn't want
more SEC teams in there. You're out of your damn
mind because what have we seen the last two years?
It's been Big Ten teams winning. Does ESPN and Disney
have anything to do with that conference? Of course not,
(33:44):
So why do they want to prop them up?
Speaker 4 (33:46):
Like?
Speaker 5 (33:46):
Why do they want to prop up the fact that
the Big Ten now is almost caught the SEC and
amount of players drafted into the NFL, like ESPN doesn't
want in Disney, they don't want to see the SEC
gets surpass.
Speaker 6 (34:00):
It's why they're okay having game Day. Have you know
a guy up.
Speaker 5 (34:05):
There in Nick Saban who's giving Lane Kiffen advice And
they're trying to act like they're completely unbiased and they
have no role whatsoever. And what's taking place in all this?
I mean, the whole thing's a propaganda machine, especially for
a show that's unnecessary. Every Tuesday that we get a ranking,
what does it matter?
Speaker 6 (34:22):
The way ranking? The matters is the final one.
Speaker 5 (34:25):
But they've created a TV show around it, They've created
a discussion and argument around it, and this whole thing
in college football, and it's unfortunate because if you look
at the NFL and why it dominates is because there's
not one network that dominates. It's the sport itself that
has all the power to then negotiate with its media partners.
For college football, you've allowed ESPN Disney to have a
stranglehold on it, and honestly for the worst, because now
(34:48):
they can manipulate things like this College Football Playoff Committee
and they can say publicly that they don't all they want.
But it's bs because no one could sit there and
tell me and forget resumes and all that, go watch
these teams. Ben was not better than Miami or Notre Dame.
B Y is not better than Miami or Notre Dame.
And they're both playing conference championship weekend, and they'll probably
both get the benefit of the doubt.
Speaker 6 (35:10):
If they lose those games, they'll.
Speaker 1 (35:12):
Still be in Be sure to catch live editions of
Two Pros and a Cup of Joe with Brady Quinn,
LeVar Arrington and Jonas Knox weekdays at six am Eastern,
three am Pacific. Five lines, not those kind of lines.
Five picks, five spreads, Time for picks against the spread.
Speaker 3 (35:36):
All right, braydon how we look at here?
Speaker 2 (35:39):
Because I feel like we didn't talk about this week's
results that much this week for some reason, normally, Karen.
Speaker 5 (35:45):
We did, we mentioned, we mentioned them, We mentioned them once.
Last week Jonas went three and two. It was the
high watermark for our crew. Was not a good week
for us collectively. LeVar went two and four and I
was one and four. So that brings us you are
year total. Jonas is back up the five hundred. Congrats Jonas.
(36:06):
The bar just dropped well below five hundred now seven,
so it's a four to sixty six win percentage, and
I'm still at forty nine to thirty one of a
sizeable margin ahead of.
Speaker 6 (36:17):
You Jonas and Lobar.
Speaker 3 (36:20):
Yeah, well, listen there, I'm just hearing anymore. I'm sad.
Speaker 2 (36:24):
I just sell your text, right, all right? Sweet, all right,
So bursh, what do we got this week?
Speaker 6 (36:32):
All right, let's kick it off with this one. Colts
and Jaguars.
Speaker 9 (36:37):
The Colts are a one and a half point road
favorite here, a big game for the AFC South. Jonas,
we will start with you.
Speaker 2 (36:48):
I just I will take Indianapolis. I can't trust Jacksonville,
and based on how they've complained about me saying I
don't want them in the playoffs, I'm just gonna ride
that horse until it bucks me. So I'll take the Colts,
and I'll take the Colts minus one and a half.
Speaker 5 (37:06):
Brady, this line looks funny to me. Look sass Gardner
has got a caf injury. I don't think he's playing
this one. Daniel Jones is playing banged up, and the
Jacksonville's kind of found something.
Speaker 6 (37:17):
So it looks funny.
Speaker 5 (37:19):
It leads me to think I should probably go with
the Colts be in the road favorite here, but I'm
gonna go money line Jaguars.
Speaker 4 (37:28):
All right, LeVar, how you feeling that money line in
the Jaggs?
Speaker 9 (37:31):
Okay, yeah, all right, all right, Next up here, let's
go to the AFC.
Speaker 6 (37:39):
North Steelers had Ravens.
Speaker 9 (37:41):
Ravens are favored here minus five and a half. At home,
Aaron Rodgers was full part. It's been in practice yesterday,
so it looks like he'll be good to go. Brady
will start with you.
Speaker 5 (37:52):
This is a tough one. It's a bigger number that
I thought for this matchup. Neither teams have been great
this year. Baltimore's dealing with trees, Patrick Queen, Derek Harmon
up front, James Pierre two.
Speaker 6 (38:04):
I think it's in the concussion protocol.
Speaker 5 (38:06):
So oh man, I'm gonna go with the Steelers plus
five and a half. I think they'll be able to
keep this one close. I don't think they can win it, though, LaVar, what.
Speaker 6 (38:18):
Do you think?
Speaker 2 (38:20):
Uh?
Speaker 7 (38:20):
I think that this is the type of week where
all of the speculation, the loud noise and talking, this
is when Mike Tomlin is probably at his best and
getting guys to rally.
Speaker 4 (38:32):
I'm a money line of Steelers.
Speaker 6 (38:33):
Whoa wow, Wow.
Speaker 7 (38:37):
I'm blown away by the Ravens. They're they're they're a
pedestrian team as well. So I mean, it's not like
I'm saying something that's crazy.
Speaker 6 (38:45):
That sounds crazy.
Speaker 4 (38:47):
Oh crazy to me, Okay. I mean your record is good,
so that's good. All right, you're trying to make up
some ground here too.
Speaker 2 (38:57):
I'm gonna take the Steelers getting the five and a half.
I don't think Lamar Jackson's healthy. I don't think he's
gonna were close to being healthy, and he does not
look like the same player. I know that it's feel
good week because Mark Andrews got a new extension and.
Speaker 3 (39:10):
Blah blah blah, but they do not look good at all.
And I don't.
Speaker 2 (39:14):
Think anybody in that division should be favored by five
and a half over anybody else, even the Browns. I
will take Pittsburgh, and I'll take Pittsburgh on the road.
Speaker 6 (39:25):
Okay, all right, let's stay I agree with that.
Speaker 7 (39:28):
I agree with that, Jonas, that's well, put.
Speaker 9 (39:30):
What up sticks, Let's stay in the North for the
next one.
Speaker 6 (39:34):
Bears and Packers.
Speaker 9 (39:35):
That's right, the Packers are favored at home here minus
six and a half, LeVar, what.
Speaker 4 (39:41):
Do you think.
Speaker 7 (39:44):
It's Bears team is surprising me? Minus six and a half?
The Packers are favorites.
Speaker 4 (39:51):
Yeah, that's right.
Speaker 7 (39:52):
Yeah, I'm a that's a large That's a large number
I'm gonna take. I'm gonna take the Beers on this
one on the points and take the points.
Speaker 3 (40:00):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (40:02):
I was gonna say, if you're watching, if you were
watching Thanksgiving, the way the Bears offense operated too, how
balanced they were running the football too, like that.
Speaker 6 (40:10):
Version of the Bears wins.
Speaker 4 (40:13):
Man.
Speaker 6 (40:14):
That's a big number.
Speaker 5 (40:16):
I feel like I'm gonna be going against what my
intuition is telling me because I don't think that line
should be that big.
Speaker 6 (40:21):
But I'm with var here.
Speaker 5 (40:24):
I think the Bears keep this one close, to keep
it within that number.
Speaker 6 (40:28):
So he goes Chicago.
Speaker 2 (40:31):
Jonas, what you think, Yeah, this is a tough one obviously,
you know the rivalry and just sort of the dominance.
Speaker 3 (40:37):
The Packers the Bears several years. I'm not I mean.
Speaker 6 (40:42):
He's gonna take the Bears money.
Speaker 3 (40:43):
Life, just trying to look at my research here.
Speaker 2 (40:49):
I'll take the Bears getting six and a half points
in this game on the road.
Speaker 6 (40:53):
There you go, Okay, shocking the Bears.
Speaker 3 (40:57):
What happened? What have the bed? Did we run out.
Speaker 6 (41:03):
New Man?
Speaker 4 (41:05):
All right?
Speaker 6 (41:06):
Next up here, Mark Texans aid, Chiefs.
Speaker 9 (41:08):
Yeah, the Chiefs are favored at home here minus three
and a half. Oh jeezuh, Jonas, kick this one off.
Speaker 2 (41:15):
Kansas City has burned me so many times, and there's
always a hook that gets in the way. There's some
sort of a hook with Kansas City. That half point
is a real pain in the ass. Houston looks like
a team in the AFC that you don't want to play.
Speaker 3 (41:30):
Right now, based on CJ.
Speaker 2 (41:32):
Stroud getting healthier, based on their defense in the way
that it plays, I'm gonna take Houston getting three and
a half points here on the road. I was tempted
to go money line, but I'll just take the three
and a half because I know the Chiefs backs are
up against the wall.
Speaker 5 (41:46):
Yeah, okay, Brady, I'm feeling very similar to Jonas here.
I feel like, are we battling a little bit that
thought that hates the Chiefs at home? Yes, come on,
they'll figure this thing out. The problem is they're off
defensive line is pretty banged up right now. I believe
Josh Simmons is out, and I think Jwan Taylor and
(42:07):
Tray Smith are both in question two. And this is
not the defense you want to go up against with
that front with some backups playing. So to me, it's
like this offense has struggled to really take off, and
Stroud look good, man, He's looked good since he's come back.
So I'm gonna take the three and a half points
in Houston.
Speaker 7 (42:26):
All right, LeVar, It's the last time I'm gonna give
my belief to the Kansas City Chiefs, so they can
do with it what they want to do with it.
Speaker 4 (42:34):
I'm taking the Chiefs to cover.
Speaker 3 (42:39):
All right.
Speaker 9 (42:39):
One more here Monday Night Eagles and Chargers. The Eagles
are favored on the road here minus two and a half, Brady,
you can kick this one off.
Speaker 6 (42:52):
Again. I hate taking road favorites, but it probably will
feel like.
Speaker 5 (42:56):
A home game for the Eagles there, and I don't
know what to make of the charges.
Speaker 6 (43:01):
I feel like they're up there down, They're up there down.
Speaker 5 (43:03):
But that front versus an offensive line that's sustained a
lot of injuries this year, I think that's the difference.
So I'm gonna go ahead and lay the two and
a half points in the Eagles here on the road.
Speaker 6 (43:13):
LeVar, how you feeling.
Speaker 4 (43:15):
The Eagles will cover?
Speaker 3 (43:19):
Jonas? I find it hard to believe.
Speaker 6 (43:25):
Why you laugh it?
Speaker 4 (43:27):
Y'all want it long.
Speaker 7 (43:28):
I'm not going to give you all long expand nature
right now. I don't want to do this.
Speaker 3 (43:33):
I'm really not going to do this.
Speaker 2 (43:36):
I find it hard to believe that the Eagles who
got bitched on Black Friday in front of their fan base,
with extra time to prepare against a banged up Justin Herbert,
who I'm assuming he's going to play based on the
fact that as Herbert, but maybe he's not. I find
it hard to believe that they're not going to respond
to be ready to go in this game like that.
(43:56):
That seems far fetched to me.
Speaker 5 (43:59):
So which you've seen that that's baked into the line
that Herbert's not gonna play, or if he is, he's
going to be severely impacted by it.
Speaker 2 (44:08):
Yeah, I think somewhat. If he's out, I still think
it would probably drop a little more. I just and
we talked about this before. He can't trust the chargers,
I mean one week. So who I like Philly? I said,
I like Philly? Okay, two And it wasn't very definitivef
you sound like you're wavering.
Speaker 3 (44:26):
There, Oh, there's no wavering definitely.
Speaker 6 (44:28):
Well I didn't.
Speaker 5 (44:29):
I would sound like you're waivering. It could have been waiting,
by the way, speaking of waiting, no more waiting, Jonas,
your goal is start now. It's take your workouts around
the world with Nordic Track and I fed save big
on treadmills, bikes, rollers, all that stuff you love to
get into and you can find it all Jonas at
nordik track dot com.
Speaker 6 (44:43):
Not to track. You could train anywhere, but explore everywhere.
Speaker 9 (44:46):
Hell yeah, all right, so those are picks bursh that's right,
and just adds up. Fifteen minutes ago, Tom Pelisero said
that justin Herbert is trending in the right direction, all right, we'll.
Speaker 5 (44:55):
Get Yeah, he was wearing a brace on his left
hand I believe obviously had surgery, but has like some
sort of brace around it to protect it. It is
is off throwing hands, so outside of falling on it,
you know, using it as a stiff arm shouldn't impact
too much. I would imagine they'll be in shotgun solely
unless he's able to take a snap with that end,
(45:15):
but I believe he's got some with the surgery he
had in the splint he's got, I would think they're
in shotgun almost the entire the entire game.
Speaker 2 (45:23):
That will definitely be a road game for them, though,
like that's not even a question at this point with
the way that place works. So yeah, listen, those are
the picks, and I feel great about it. And I
think based on what happened this past week, I think
momentum is starting to build in the favor of the
ever Man to try and make a run at this
(45:45):
whole thing.
Speaker 3 (45:46):
So there you go.
