Speaking of teams in the NFC North, good news, JJ
McCarthy is cleared concussion protocol and he is going to
(01:14):
be back under center for the Minnesota Vikings. JJ McCarthy
did speak about if anything's changed for him since his
last start because things have not gone well there, and
he said, quote a lot of the mentality has changed,
for sure. I was just so focused on doing every
rep perfect and making sure every little detail was crossed
and checked off. I feel like coach O'Connell and coach
(01:36):
McCown them talking to me about, Hey, let's worry about
that stuff in the offseason.
Speaker 4 (01:40):
Go out there, play your ball. Just execute the play.
Speaker 3 (01:43):
That just frees up a lot of space mentally to
be instinctual, react and respond to what the defense is
giving me. So JJ McCarthy, maybe we'll get a brand
new version of him.
Speaker 4 (01:54):
Maybe we are.
Speaker 3 (01:55):
Done with nine and maybe he will graduate to ten.
Who knows, but JJ McCarthy's going to be the guy
for the Minnesota Vikings as he has cleared concussion protocol
and what I would say has been pretty close to
a disaster for the Vikings this year.
Speaker 1 (02:12):
Quarterback are they I can't think of another quarterback that
a team has given up on or it feels like
they're I don't know, maybe it's just me, but watching
how they handle everything with him, it's incredibly delicate. It's
it's almost as if you know, unless he can be
(02:34):
one hundred percent, they don't want I'm touching the field.
I just I look at this. He's sorted what six
games in his career. Yeah, I missed this entire rookie season,
so got to kind of sit and watch and learn.
But it feels like they're almost already ready to move on.
Am I Am I looking at this the wrong way.
Speaker 5 (02:53):
That's what it seems like. That's what it seems like.
I mean, I mean, if you if you look at
what his body of work has been, I think the
biggest question mark, at least for me, would be, how
is it that two other quarterbacks have been able to
and maybe even three if we really need to look
at how have they been able to have success in
(03:14):
this offensive scheme with the same players and JJ McCarthy can't, Like,
I think that there's been enough credibility built by the
coaching staff to know that a quarterback is in a
great situation to have success in this offense, in this
specific offense. So I would tend to think that, yeah,
(03:37):
this is a situation where maybe we don't have the
time to try to develop JJ McCarthy, and maybe that
is the ultimate idea of possibly having to move on
from having him as the starter of your team.
Speaker 3 (03:52):
It just seems to me like he's trying every Like
we've heard so much from him about you know, his moniker,
his approach. How this time it's going to be different
about what he's trying. It's almost like he's and I
don't know if trying too hard is the right term,
but it's almost like that's what it feels like that
(04:13):
he recognizes and I've thought this for a while now,
that he recognizes he's got a great spot with a
lot of talent and a really successful coach and a
good roster and a great opportunity, and they've anointed him
as the guy. And it's almost as if he recognizes
in real time, oh, I'm the weak link here, Like
(04:35):
I'm the one who's not at that level yet for
a team that they talked about there. You know, all
the reporting was the Vikings feel like they've got a
three year window. Well now you're down a year because
this year has been a waste. So now you're down
to you got two years left, and you're going to
have a quarterback who's going to feel the heat even more.
Justin Jefferson seems frustrated. It just and when you couple
(04:57):
that with the fact that Daniel Jones a pretty good
year in Indianapolis, Sam Darnold's had a pretty good year
in Seattle, and those were both guys who were there
last year and you chose him over them. In essence,
this is just not gone anywhere close to what I
think anybody is expected.
Speaker 1 (05:14):
No, and it's a team too, I think, you know,
coming in to the season with those high expectations because
of what their defense has been. Offensively, the weapons they
have and what we've seen in the past. I mean,
they could compete. I know that division is tough, and
obviously the Bears have improved. The Lions are what an
eight and to five football team. Now we know how
good the Packers can be. It's a tough division, don't
(05:36):
get me wrong. But there was high expectations for this team,
and rightfully so. And it doesn't feel like they're getting
anything close to what they're accustomed to from the quarterback
position when he's in there, and this is one of
those positions. We're kind of similar to Kyle Shanahan and
that system where most everyone plays really well. Things are
(05:58):
formulated for you to have success. The throws are there,
it's just you got to go out and execute, and
he's struggling to do so. And that's again, I don't
want to be too harsh on this because it really
is his rookie year. I know, he didn't play last year,
was hurt, he was watching, he's learning, and this is
his first real time for experience. But this is also
(06:19):
a player who didn't necessarily lack experience coming from the
college football level, you know, maybe lacked some of the
reps throwing the football and some of the things we
had discussed about him.
Speaker 6 (06:28):
And it was funny they had actually played out in.
Speaker 1 (06:31):
This past week's you know game for a high state
Michigan was you know, two years ago, Michigan had dominated
and played to the point where they really hadn't asked
JJ McCarthy to do much. You know, he didn't make
many throws in the fourth quarter that were meaningful throws
in games. Now he eventually had to in order to
win a national championship, and he did that.
Speaker 6 (06:50):
Year where they asked him two on third down.
Speaker 1 (06:52):
They'd asked him to in various situations to make throws,
make plays in order for them to.
Speaker 6 (06:58):
Be able to go on to win a national championship.
Speaker 1 (07:00):
He proved that, But if you looked at his total
attempts versus something like Caleb Williams or someone else who
falls in that category, I mean, it was almost like
an entire season less.
Speaker 6 (07:13):
So I'm not giving up on him.
Speaker 1 (07:15):
I still think there's a foundation of tools that he
can utilize.
Speaker 6 (07:19):
And he can get the job done with.
Speaker 1 (07:22):
But they've got to figure out how to getting him,
you know, playing a little faster, being better with his fee,
being more accurate the football, because all those things have
taken a hit. You know, when you watch him come
in there and start football games, he's just not the
same player, is not as confident of a player as
what we saw in college. And I don't know if
it's the whole number nine thing. He's got that whole
(07:45):
weird thing going on that's become like an internet meme.
But and by the way, that might have been one
of the worst things ever. Like I just God, after
like one win too, you.
Speaker 5 (07:56):
Know, they are one went away from heavy three times
the amounts of losses they had all of last year
one one loss away, And I just find it interesting
you go from being fourteen and three and they tailed
off like I'm not gonna say, like, oh, they had
this perfect season and Sam Donald had this like the
(08:18):
most magic Well he kind of did, but they did
tail off. They did tail off, and it didn't look
as good later in the year as it did early on.
And I just wonder did that have any impact on
where this team is? Is it does the blame of
(08:38):
this team playing so poorly solely belong at the feet
of JJ McCarthy.
Speaker 3 (08:46):
Well to your point, and we talked about it in
real time. Sam Donald, basically his year got spoiled because
of two games. Like if you think about it, last year,
it was the final two games. It was the playoff game,
but it was also that final where they played the Lions,
and there was an opportunity for them to host a
playoff game, win the division, all of that, and then
(09:07):
they had to go on the road because of that.
Other than that, Sam Donalder, we were talking about last
year was in the MVP conversation.
Speaker 4 (09:14):
So let's just.
Speaker 3 (09:14):
Say, Sam Donald, you know has at or let's say
he split those two games. Say, you know, he has
a disappointing performance in the finale, but he plays well
in the playoff game and they still lose. Are they
still making the same decision, like, were they already committed
to JJ McCarthy, Because I don't think.
Speaker 5 (09:33):
I don't think they could, even though they would probably
be on the hook to try and to figure it
out with JJ McCarthy. I mean, because I mean a
three last season should not constitute you, you know, losing
your gig as the starter. And then now you see
how he's doing. You see how he's doing now for
(09:55):
the Seattle Seahawks. I mean, they're ten and seven and
they're in position to win the NFC West. They're in
a battle with the Rams. So maybe they're a better team.
Maybe they're the same type of team with Sam Donald.
Maybe they're maybe they saw Sam Donald's ceiling and said
that it was just it made more sense to move
(10:15):
on and see what we have with JJ McCarthy. But
to the point of is are they moving on from
JJ McCarthy now? I guess not. I listened to what
I just said. Is it even possible for them to
cash or cash him? In or check out on him
right now, knowing that you had a guy that led
you to the playoffs, led you to a three loss season.
(10:39):
You know, you had a tremendously successful season under Sam
Donald's campaign. You can't check out on on JJ McCarthy
this quickly.
Speaker 3 (10:49):
Well you could if you're the Niners and you draft
somebody with the final pick of the draft and he
ends up playing well, like you can do that, like
what they did with Trey Lance.
Speaker 5 (10:57):
I mean, how's he going to get in to do that?
Speaker 4 (10:58):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (10:59):
I hope you got mister irrelevant and he ends up
being a, you know, a good quarterback in the league.
Speaker 5 (11:04):
I mean, I guess when you're not, when you're playing
bad enough for a guy to play, he's going to
get in. We've learned that from the Browns. So I
mean maybe maybe that is the point on damn.
Speaker 6 (11:15):
Sh don't be don't be knocking sha door like that.
Let him play the rest of the season.
Speaker 5 (11:19):
I'm not knocking anybody. I was just merely stating that
I was wondering how mister irrelevant would get in in Minnesota.
But they're not very good, so maybe he would get in.
Speaker 4 (11:32):
I mean, he's kind.
Speaker 3 (11:33):
But as we've talked about, it's also the availability which
is the issue.
Speaker 4 (11:38):
Like it's not like the poor play.
Speaker 3 (11:39):
I guess you could listen, he's struggling, but you know,
we've seen signs, but he's just never in there long
enough to really get an evaluation and whatever they thought,
maybe this year was going to be a throwaway evaluation
year for him and he's going to grow and develop
and next year is going to be the one where
he really you know, we see it, Spike. They're no,
(12:01):
they're not closer to it. They're closer to the answer
being he's not the guy than they are. He is
the guy, and but it's still so vague and up
in the air that they don't. I just I'm really
curious to see how they approach the off season because
they're going to bring in a quarterback, right, I would assume.
Speaker 6 (12:17):
Them they have to.
Speaker 1 (12:18):
They have to and and and they'd have the money
and the ability to do so, because you know, they
save JG.
Speaker 6 (12:22):
On this rookie deal.
Speaker 1 (12:23):
The hard part for them is they've got to make
a decision after next year on JJ on his fifth
year option as well as a potential you know, would
they look to extend him or is he is he
going to be starting is he going to start to
be in there cat planning for that? And I would say,
as of right now, it's more likely than not that
(12:44):
he's not going to get a fifth year option picked
up and they wouldn't.
Speaker 6 (12:48):
Look to extend him.
Speaker 1 (12:50):
And it always puts a team in a tough spot
because if he has that one good year, you find
yourselves in the Daniel Jones situation where you sit there
and say, all right, well, now we've we've got to
you know, we've we've got to extended, we gotta do something.
Whereas you know, they've again go back and look at
how that should have worked out for the Giants. They
(13:12):
franchise tag Saquon, they extend Daniel Jones, and if they
could go.
Speaker 6 (13:18):
Back over and do it again, and I think they've
admitted as much to.
Speaker 1 (13:21):
This as they would have picked up the fifth year
option on Daniel Jones, they would have signed Saquon to
the longer term deal, which would have saved them the
most money under the cap, and they would have made
Daniel Jones prove it again and if they needed to,
maybe would use a franchise tag, so a shorter one
year commitment. And so that's the hard part is you
(13:42):
put yourself in a tough spot where if the quarterback
goes and has that one good year, now you're gonna
have to break out the bank for him or you
have to go through the pr issue of all right,
you know, he's unhappy because we're not getting a long
term deal. He's under the franchise tag like any other player,
so that becomes then an issue. But I just it
(14:02):
feels like there's going to be competition. It feels like
they don't want to admit they made a mistake, but
they feel like they have. And for me, it's just
too soon, Like I just don't want to read it.
I mean, I look, sir, Door started three games. Let
the kids start the rest of the season. See what
you got in him as opposed you know, and with
JJ McCarthy, it's like he's got six starts. You know,
(14:24):
Let's see how this thing goes. If you can stay
healthy and play some better football, maybe get some momentum
going into the offseason. But can he please cut out
the number nine bs? Yeah, that's just the stupidest.
Speaker 3 (14:34):
Thing, you don't I mean, upon further review, they probably
should have just signed Rogers to that one year deal, like,
just sign Rogers, let him play indoors, let him play
with those receivers and uh.
Speaker 1 (14:48):
Yeah, But then it would have followed too much. Nah,
it would have been too much like Brett Farv. It
would have been the exact path that Brett Farrv had.
You would have went from the Packers to the Jets.
Speaker 6 (14:58):
And the Vikings. It would have been the exact same thing.
Speaker 4 (15:01):
Well, there would have been some differences.
Speaker 5 (15:04):
What they're watching, receiver.
Speaker 4 (15:06):
Yeah, it's their watch.
Speaker 6 (15:08):
That's a good way of putting it, Valentine, Yeah, receiver.
Speaker 5 (15:12):
All I know is you wouldn't have found out what
JJ McCarthy was capable of doing. We had to get
here to get here, you know what I mean. We
had to get to him playing and seeing what he
could do to be able to have the conversation that
we're having now. I mean, it could have gone either
either way. He could have had a lot of success,
but he just hasn't had that. And it's just one
(15:33):
of those things. Is it a development thing? You know?
Is he trying harder? Is there the possibility that he
could be maybe, like you guys said, he's trying so
hard to be successful. But he's trying with the knowledge
of having a year to have watched it. It's not
like he's trying too hard as as a true rookie, right,
(15:53):
he's had an opportunity to see what a season looks like,
to see what successful preparation looks like and how it's executed.
And I just wonder, is he trying to live up
to a standard in the way that he's doing things
that isn't realistic to what he brings to the table.
And you got to live in who you are and
what you do and how you're able to process things
(16:16):
and do things and move at your pace to improves
as a quarterback in the National Football League. I wonder
has he put too much expectation on him. It can
be easy coming in and being the starter. After what
happened the way it happened with Sam Donald the year before,
that's probably extra added pressure on him to have to
(16:38):
be something that the fan base is looking at and saying, Okay,
he needs to be better than Sam Donald. And that's
three losses in a playoff bid.
Speaker 4 (16:48):
And in the MVP conversation, and in.
Speaker 5 (16:51):
The MVP conversation, you guys got rid of him to
put this guy in. That's instant pressure that probably you know,
it's it's had a bearing on how he's he's prepared
and how he's played.
Speaker 6 (17:06):
Yeah, that's it, That's all I got.

Speaker 5 (19:38):
That should be ten dollars right there. Wow, that's kidding
that you're kissing up. You're kissing up like what you
do with with Dean and what you do with with Prisco.
You're you're kissing up, and that should be ten.
Speaker 4 (19:52):
Dollars your honor. I'm being attacked.
Speaker 5 (19:54):
I think that should add it to the dossier.
Speaker 1 (19:57):
First off, the first off, we don't we don't necessarily
have a big fine for the whole kissing up, sucking
up thing. All right, it's a self suck is what
the fine is for. But to your point, there is
the guest sucked, which Blandino came into play. I don't
know that I put him in there. But Jonas, please
(20:19):
stop with the compliments. No one likes them. We're men,
all right, We just we hate ourselves. We move through
life and then we die, all right, So let's get
to the revendex segment is.
Speaker 4 (20:27):
Yeah, but what a glorious life that is that you've lived.
Speaker 1 (20:30):
I just want to point that out. Yes, that's as
a man, that's what we do, all right, yea.
Speaker 5 (20:36):
So as a man, that's what we do.
Speaker 6 (20:39):
Bro, that's what we do.
Speaker 4 (20:41):
Again.
Speaker 3 (20:42):
You're going to hear a fair and balanced, fair and
balanced appeal hearings coming up in about twenty minutes.
Speaker 4 (20:49):
From now here on the show.
Speaker 5 (20:50):
So you're in balance.
Speaker 3 (20:51):
Yeah, very fair and balanced, as he always is. I
mean he deserves that, all right.
Speaker 6 (20:55):
Can we get to this all right?
Speaker 4 (20:56):
So right now is.
Speaker 3 (21:00):
This I'm a winner.
Speaker 2 (21:02):
Listen up.
Speaker 6 (21:03):
Winning cures all illnesses.
Speaker 5 (21:05):
It really does.
Speaker 3 (21:06):
I'm going to win.
Speaker 6 (21:07):
It's Quinn's wins all right.
Speaker 1 (21:10):
Conference Championship weekend. It is here. Last week nine and
eight eked out the over five hundred record that brings
us to fifty fifty two and three on the year.
So we've still got a number of bets this weekend
to get us back over that five hundred number. And
it all kicks off today Kennesaw State at Jacksonville State
(21:34):
for the Conference USA Championship. Jacksonville State's a two and
a half point dog. It's at seven pm Eastern time
on CBS Sports Network. Jacksonville State won this game like
seventeen days ago, by the way, and it was a
large part because quarterback Kadan Kreole the running back Cam Cook.
They rushed for over twitter and fifty yards three tunnies,
(21:55):
and obviously Kannessas State through like four interceptions in that one,
so that game was a wrap.
Speaker 6 (22:00):
The Kanasaws State defense is leaky.
Speaker 1 (22:02):
I like Jacksonville State in this one, not only just
to cover the two and a half, but to win outright, Jonas,
keep me honest with the Lions two on this one.
Speaker 4 (22:12):
Yeah, those those lines are accurate.
Speaker 6 (22:14):
Okay, still at two and a half.
Speaker 1 (22:16):
Next up, we're gonna venture onto Let's just call it
one of the bigger matchups in the Sunbelt, the Sun
Belt Championship. James Madison with an outside shot of getting
into the College Football Playoff, just steamrolling everyone this year,
they're hosting Troy and you can find that game seven
pm Eastern time on ESPN. This is a game where
(22:37):
it's a big number. James Madison's land twenty two and
a half. Look, they're one of the top teams in
the country, I say top thirty teams in the country.
Troy's run games inconsistent, their offensive line is gonna struggle
to protect versus jam U, and their defense for Troy
gives up over like four yards a game.
Speaker 6 (22:55):
So it's a big line. I'm gonna stay away from it.
Speaker 1 (22:58):
I do like the over of four six and a
half though, I think James mass will put up a
pretty big number. I do think Toroy will be able
to put up some points too to hit that over
a forty six and a half. So that's the play
in the Sun Belt Championship. Next up another game with
a potential winner going to the College Football Playoff. It's
(23:18):
the AAC Championship North Texas headed to Tulane taking on
down in New Orleans. That game will kick off at
eight pm Eastern on ABC. Now this is a little
bit odd because again, the winner is probably going to
go to the College Football Playoff as the highest ranked
group of six team. I remember Tulane owns the head
to head over Duke. They beat them earlier this year,
(23:40):
so even if Duke was want to win the ACC there'd
be that head to head that the committee would have
to look at in Duke's a five lost team. But
this game there's gonna be a lot of explosion. Tulane
can run the football, in particular with Retslov at quarterback.
North Texas with Drew Mestamaker, they can sling it all
around the field. This is one though, where it's just
a bad matchup. I think for North Texas their defense
(24:03):
struggles to stop the run. That's Tulane's calling card. Tulane's
also one of the top scoring defense in the country
top twenty five. Give me Tulane plus two and a
half and one side note too, both these head coaches,
Eric Morris for North Texas and John Summer all for
Tulane moving on to new places.
Speaker 6 (24:20):
Moris head of to Oklahoma State.
Speaker 1 (24:22):
Some are all headed to Florida, so wondering how that
would potentially play a factor in all this. Next up
Mount West Championship on Fox at a PM Eastern time,
UNLV headed to Boise. It feels like this is the
matchup we've gotten the past few years. This is also
a rematch of a game that was played early in
October and Boise beat up on UNLV, and I think
(24:43):
that same thing may happen. It was a close game
at halftime and then boys, he really ran away way
within the second half. But UNLV's one of the top
scoring offense in the country. Boys, you can run the football.
They're more of a complete team, but they've got the
better defense. So I'm gonna do two things here. I'm
laying the points with Boise at three and a half
last time I checked, But I also think the over
(25:04):
of fifty seven and a half is the other play
in this one. Just not a great matchup for UNLV.
The Smurf Turf tough place to win. In fact, UNLV
has never won there. They're OH to seven all time
and unlv'sh to ten and it's last ten versus Boise,
so it's been a tough matchup for them.
Speaker 3 (25:22):
Updates next up, Oh what we got Boise State minus
four and a half? Now the over unders at fifty
nine and a half.
Speaker 6 (25:30):
No two point swing.
Speaker 1 (25:32):
Oh still taking the over higher scoring affair than the
Smurf Turf.
Speaker 6 (25:37):
We were there last year.
Speaker 1 (25:39):
Next up Saturday Slate Big Twelve Championships. It's at noon
on ABC. BYU at Texas another rematch that we saw
earlier this season. Texas Tech wiped the floor with BYU.
There was really not much they could do right in
that game. I still see this one being lopsided, but
I'm gonna stay away from the spread. The numbers at
thirteen and a half just too many points for a
(26:01):
rematch for me, but I do like the over of
forty nine and a half in this one. Texas the
more talent seed all over the field, so take the over.
I think there'll be a fair amount of scoring in
this one, but again, thirteen and a half points too
many for me, but I like Texas Tech to roll.
Next up the MAC Championship, miam Ojaio at Western Michigan
and Western Michigan's given two and a half. You can
(26:22):
find this game at twelve pm Easter time on ESPN.
Miami won the earlier matchup this season, but that was
back when they had their quarterback Avion Smith. He's been
out since then. It's been freshman quarterback Thomas Kaikowski. He's
taken over. The offense hasn't quite looked the same, to
be honest, they're two and two in that stretch. Meanwhile,
Western Michigan had won four to oh since that game,
mostly because the Russian attack Buckley their running backs a
(26:44):
good player, Brock Lowry to a quarterback, and con Toote
the rock too. So I like Western Michigan to maintain
the momentum. You lay the two and a half points here,
but I also like the under a forty four and
a half. Miami's had a tough time scoring points since
the freshman quarterback got Koalski has taken over. So there's
your play for the MAC Championship.
Speaker 3 (27:02):
Next up, Oh, here go where we got Western Michigan
minus one and a half over under forty three and
a half.
Speaker 6 (27:11):
Okay, I still like the under.
Speaker 1 (27:12):
Still like Western Michigan laying a point and a half
in this one. The SC Championship game Georgia head Actually
theyre playing the Merce Cities bens Dome in Atlanta four
pm Eastern time on ABC Georgia, giving two and a
half points, the over under set at forty eight and
a half. Again another rematch where Bama won this one
twenty four to twenty one. But I feel like these
(27:34):
two teams have gone in a little bit different directions.
Georgia's passing game has continued to come along, and George
has proven to be better in the trenches. Alabama, to me,
is very one dimensional offensively. It's all Ti Simpson. In
this passing game. They struggled to run the football, they
struggled to stop the run. I think Georgia wins this one.
I'm laying the points with the Dogs at two and
a half, and I also like the over of forty
(27:57):
eight and a half in this game too. I do
think there'll be a fair amount of score in this one.
Next up the Big Ten championship game Ohio State Indiana
Lucas Oil, eight pm Eastern Time on Fox. Over under
said at forty eight and a half. OSU was giving
four last time I looked. This is one where you
just go ahead and say you lay the four points
of the Ohio State and you take the under. I
(28:18):
don't know how much Indiana will score. Ohio States defense
will given up nine touchdowns the entire season. Nine, that's it.
I'm not sure Indiana scores two. That's how good their
defense has been. I do think the Buckeyes two will
be able to outmatch with some of the talent and
speed this Indiana team that will try to keep everything
in front of them.
Speaker 6 (28:37):
But to me, this Ohio State team is the best
team in the country.
Speaker 1 (28:40):
So lay the points, take the under, and finally, the
ACC Championship game held there in Charlotte Bank of America Stadium,
eight pm Eastern Time. Duke versus UVA. UVA layed four
points last time I checked. Now, remember the UVA dominated
rematch earlier this season, they won thirty four to fourteen.
In fact, the score is really thirty one to three
(29:00):
going into the fourth quarter, where Duke was able to
rip off a couple of touchdowns. And historically the UVA
has dominated this series too. They're nine to one the
last ten. Duke plays more of a boomer bust style.
I think that's when they play a little bit close
to this time around. I want to take Duke and
the four points to go ahead and cover that number,
if not outright win, and I do think it's gonna
throw this college football playoff into a tailspin for the
(29:24):
committee if indeed this does happen. So like Duke plus
four and that is your Quinn's wins for Confeence Championship weekend.
Speaker 6 (29:31):
It's what I'm talking about.
Speaker 3 (29:32):
Right there by the way, the Indiana Ohio state. The
total in that game is at forty seven and a half. Now,
so which one Indiana Ohio state? So Big ten championship
game is at forty seven and a half.
Speaker 6 (29:46):
So still like the under.
Speaker 4 (29:48):
All right, so let's go.
Speaker 5 (29:50):
I like to add some hot sauce to Quinn's wins
while I'm still watching those games that play out that
Brady just talked about. I like to put some original
Louisiana hot sauce on a three simple ingredients onto my plate,
onto your plate. Turns any Tuesday, any Wednesday, Thursday, and
a Friday, that's right, and to a tailgate day. So
no matter what day it is, grab that original Louisiana
(30:12):
hot sauce and add a little bit to well your day,
make it a game day that's Louisiana hot sauce by
you soon.
Speaker 3 (30:20):
All right, So let's see what a what a parlay
would look like here on all those picks. All right,
let's see see what we got here a little parlay,
if you will, We'll try ten dollars a ten dollars
parlay on all those Quinns wins on DraftKings would pay
out just over twenty three thousand dollars ten bucks.
Speaker 5 (30:41):
Much we was hitting a millions before.
Speaker 4 (30:44):
Well, I mean that's right.
Speaker 6 (30:46):
Did you include all, like the spreads runners, the whole thing.
Speaker 5 (30:49):
All of them.
Speaker 3 (30:49):
The only one that wasn't included was I think you'd
liked Jacksonville State to win outright as well too. If
you wanted to add the outright winners in, then we'd
start seeing the price go up a little bit. So,
so Jacksonville State will add that one in.
Speaker 4 (31:05):
You like to win outright, Duke? Do you like to
win outright as well too? Is that what you said?
Speaker 1 (31:10):
Yeah, I mean it's really just my system went to UVA,
so it's a little sibling rivalry. But I think they're
like a boomer bust style of play where I do
think UVa's do overall better team. But Mensaw to me
is one of the best quarterbacks in the country and
if he gets rolling, man, it could be a problem
for UVA.
Speaker 3 (31:28):
Yeah, so have you added those Yeah, they're not gonna
let us do it, son of a bitch. Yeah, if
you start adding in money lines along with points spreads.
It's you know, you can't really parlay that, but you know,
tend to win twenty three grand not bad, man, I mean,
it's not the seventeen eighteen game parlay we were trying
to pull off. But how as far as confidence level goes,
(31:52):
how confident are you in these picks heading into this weekend?
Speaker 1 (31:55):
Feel pretty confident? You know, feel pretty confident. I think
we get above five hundred after this. I'm more I'm
more a little shaky on my irish and what some
of these outcomes would mean for Notre Dame making the playoff.
And I'm one of those people that I know the
Notre Dame fan base gets really upset when you say
this stuff. But you know, I heard some people point
(32:16):
out the fact that, hey, head to head should matter,
and I'm with them, head to head should matter if
it came down between Miami and Notre Dame because of
the head to head game they played it this season.
That's how it works. Like I don't want that. Do
I think Notre Dame is the better team? Do I
think if they they'd win if they played right now?
Of course, But the truth of the matter is they
already played and even though it was Week one and
(32:36):
Notre Dame is a much better team that's continued to ascend,
and Miami is kind of tailed off.
Speaker 6 (32:41):
You know, it's it's unfortunate, but you have to look
at that as part of the resume.
Speaker 1 (32:46):
Now, I will also say this, I do think that
Notre Dame and Miami are both better teams than BYU
and Bama. I think if Bama loses, it shouldn't be
a foregone conclusion that they're in. I think people should
look at this and say, they're a three loss team.
Yes they've got some good wins, and yes they beat
George earlier this season, but do we really believe that
Bama is one of the best twelve teams? And really,
(33:09):
you can't even say twelve, it's more like best ten
because you're throwing in the Group of six conference champ
they're not obviously one of the best twelve teams.
Speaker 6 (33:16):
In the country if we're being real.
Speaker 1 (33:18):
And you may very well help James Madison end up
playing in it. If Duke very well knocks off UVA,
you might not have the ACC champion. So I sit
there and look at it and say, there's there's two
big issues. The scheduling like the ACC and how their
highest ranked team in Miami is unfortunately not a part
of the conference championship because then they really there wouldn't
(33:40):
be really any argument.
Speaker 6 (33:41):
They win the ACC, they'd be in and they'd leave
Frog Notre Dame.
Speaker 1 (33:45):
Anyway, So this wouldn't be a problem for the committee,
would't be a problem for anyone. But unfortunately the ACC
can't figure things out. And then you look at how
it's worded, and they wanted to give the committee the
autonomy to have, you know, basically, the top four teams
get by whoever they see those top four teams to
be and instead of you know, changing the language of
(34:05):
how we talked about maybe the group of six being
involved too, because now you might get a James Madison
and you might get a Tulane in there on North Texas.
And if we're being honest with ourselves, every single one
of the other ten teams should would wipe the floor.
Speaker 6 (34:20):
With those teams.
Speaker 3 (34:23):
If Alabama gets wiped out, Sat Georgia just beats their
ass this weekend open again.
Speaker 1 (34:29):
I hope they're out, but I bet if you look
up the Betty market on whether or not Bama makes
the Collegewall Playoff. It's minus money and probably minus three
hundred four hundred. And the reality is is they're just
it's not the same Bama team, Like we're almost basically
off their brand.
Speaker 6 (34:45):
And I said this earlier this week. If you are
a conspiracy theorist.
Speaker 1 (34:48):
And you think that ESPN isn't pushing to have a
conference that they own exclusively in essence because of their
affiliation and doesn't want more SEC teams in there, you're
how do your damn mind? Because what have we seen
in the last two years? It's been Big ten teams winning.
Does ESPN and Disney have anything to do with that conference?
(35:09):
Of course not, So why do they want to prop
them up? Like why do they want to prop up
the fact that the Big Ten now is almost caught
the SEC and amount of players drafted into the NFL,
Like ESPN doesn't want in Disney, they don't want to
see the SEC gets surpassed. It's why they're okay having
game Day. Have you know a guy up there in
(35:31):
Nick Saban who's giving Lane Kiffen advice And they're trying
to act like they're completely unbiased and they have no
role whatsoever, And what's taking place in all of this.
I mean, the whole thing is a propaganda machine, especially
for a show that's unnecessary. Every Tuesday that we get
a ranking, what does it matter that we ranking? The
matters is the final one? But they've created a TV
(35:52):
show around it, They've created a discussion and argument around it,
and this whole thing in college football, and it's unfortunately
because if you look at the NFL and why it dominates,
it is because there's not one network that dominates, it's
the sport itself that has all the power to then
negotiate with its media partners. For college football, you've allowed
ESPN Disney to have a stranglehold on it, and honestly
(36:13):
for the worst, because now they can manipulate things like
this College FOOTBA Playoff Committe. They can say publicly that
they don't all they want, but it's bs because no
one could sit there and tell me and forget resumes
and all that.
Speaker 6 (36:25):
Go watch these teams. BAM was not better than Miami
or Notre Day. BYU is not better than Miami or
Notre Day.
Speaker 1 (36:32):
And they're both playing commence Championship weekend and they'll probably
both get the benefit of the doubt.
Speaker 6 (36:36):
If they lose those games, they'll still be in.
Speaker 3 (36:40):
Well, listen, I hope I get the benefit of the doubt,
because we've got an appeal hearing that's going to be
taking place here. All right, we are going to hear
the audio in question. We are going to decide whether
or not I'm going to be charged and punished for
a comment innocently made previous in the week, and it's yours.
Next here on FSR.
Speaker 2 (37:00):
To catch live editions of Two Pros and a Cup
of Joe with Brady Quinn, LeVar Arrington, and Jonas Knox
weekdays at six am Eastern, three am Pacific.
Speaker 6 (37:10):
Why do you say?
Speaker 3 (37:10):
Oh yeah, Jonas, feels like a home game Sikes, Two
Pros and a Cup of Joe, Fox Sports Radio, LeVar Arrington,
Brady Quinn, Jonas Knox with you here. By the way,
I've uncovered some new evidence for my case against the fine.
We do not have enough time to play it here
in this segment, so we're gonna play a top the
next hour.
Speaker 4 (37:28):
It's important.
Speaker 1 (37:29):
I was gonna say, like, we don't really have much
time knowing you and how much you like the milk stuff.
Speaker 6 (37:34):
We don't have enough time to do it right.
Speaker 4 (37:35):
Now anyway, Yeah, there isn't enough time.
Speaker 6 (37:38):
I do have saying radio format actually like the milk stuff. Well,
to draw it.
Speaker 3 (37:41):
Out, I did look up some of the odds to
make the playoffs in college football that you were at.
BAM is at a minus eighteen hundred.
Speaker 1 (37:50):
That's what I'm saying, Like they're an automatic lock. You're like,
you're a three loss team. What would be a three
loss team if they live in the SEC championship game.
Speaker 3 (37:57):
What's interesting is Notre Dames a minus four hundre, Miami
is a plus four hundred, and BYU is a plus
four a four hundred. So those are the four options
you can bet on right now the team.
Speaker 1 (38:08):
The funny thing is, I've heard that if BYU loses,
they would stay in the same spot, and that that
would be tough for the committee because then they were
easy for the committy because then they wouldn't have to
compare Miami to Notre Dame because they're not right next
to each other, so there's not the head to head comparison.
I'm like, this is the stupidest argument they've ever made,
(38:29):
Like the whole BYU buffer thing.
Speaker 6 (38:30):
I just I can't stand for this.
Speaker 4 (38:33):
Yeah, it's ridiculous, but that's college football, man, Keep making
you wait.
Speaker 5 (38:38):
You know we've talked a lot of college football this week.
Oh yeah, how's it feel, Jonas? I love you feel
I love it, man, dude. Yeah, feel good about it? Yeah?
Speaker 6 (38:47):
I don't know, all right?
Speaker 3 (38:48):
Yeah, I mean I feel great about it. You know,
I'm gonna feel great after this next segment too.
Speaker 5 (38:52):
I wish I could feel good about my school getting
a coach.
Speaker 4 (38:55):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (38:57):
Well, I'm just saying
