Speaker 1 (01:36):
Good morning, Hi Pete.
Speaker 4 (01:37):
What's going on? Guys?
Speaker 1 (01:39):
Hi doing?
Speaker 4 (01:39):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (01:40):
Mayor Jacksonville.
Speaker 1 (01:41):
Yeah, how was your holidays?
Speaker 4 (01:44):
It was a good holiday? Good you know, look, everybody
loves it. Today's day when you know we all work
during the holiday and everybody's miserable chugging back into work.
That's what today is.
Speaker 2 (01:55):
Yeah, right, it'sn how often, well we kind of thought
it was Black Monday, where a lot of if you
thought they were going into work, they're not.
Speaker 4 (02:04):
Well, it hasn't happened yet. Well, I mean, Raheem Marris
got it last night, as you guys know. But I
don't think he'll be the last one. I think we'll
see another couple maybe, Yeah, who's goodding Well? I mean, look,
what's gonna happen with Stefanski. That's gonna be an interesting
situation because because I think if Stefanski, you know, mutually
(02:24):
wants to get out of there, or if they want
to get out of there, he's going to get a
job right away. I think you get the Giants job
or have a real shot to get it. I think
you have a real shot to get it. But I
think that's one to keep an eye on. I think
Gannon's going to make it through. I think Pete Carroll's
probably gonna get fired. So there's gonna be, you know,
some situations where you'll see some guys fired today.
Speaker 1 (02:43):
Is there such thing as a bad job? Taking a
bad job in the league? Like I almost feel like
the Raiders is a bad job? Like is that still attractive?
Speaker 4 (02:53):
Like?
Speaker 1 (02:53):
Is is there going to be a guy that I
was like, Yep, I'll take it. I'm gonna try to
make it, make it work, try to fix it.
Speaker 4 (02:58):
Well, they do have the number one overall, thick LeVar.
I mean, you know that makes it a lot more
attractive to guys because you're going to get a quarterback.
So I think there's the attraction in that job. And
is there an ad job. No, there's only thirty two
of them in the NFL. Are some better than others probably?
I mean you look at like the Giants job. I
(03:19):
think if you look at the Giant situation right now,
if you believe in Jackson Dart and there are some
people out there who don't, but I think he's done
enough to get another chance to be that guy and
show he is the long term answer. And they got
a lot of young talent on the defensive side of
the ball, and you get Neighbors back next year, you
get Scatterbow back next year. I mean, I think that
(03:40):
job is attractive on the surface. Now, whether you go
in there and do something with Jackson Dart and make
him the long term answer, that's up to the coach.
But I definitely think that job is attractive.
Speaker 3 (03:53):
Pete Todd Bowles, what happens? What do you think should happen?
Speaker 4 (03:59):
I mean they gave him a contract to contension, which
when you talk to people, at one point they were
talking about it trying to keep Liam Cohne there in
large part because they thought he was the next coach
in waiting, and he would have It would have been
an easy decision. It would have been if Liam Cohne
is there right now as the offensive coordinator. Todd Bowles
(04:20):
has probably fired and Liam Cohne is probably elevated to
the head coach. But it's they Instead, they extended him,
and now you're in a situation where you have to
make a decision. I think he's going to come back.
I don't know if that's necessarily what the fans and
people in Tampa want to happen, but I do think
he's going to come back. I think the injury factor
might save him because they had so many injuries over
(04:42):
the course of the season.
Speaker 2 (04:45):
Pete, is there any coach out there, because we've read
some reports that may not be safe after the wildcard
round depending on the result.
Speaker 4 (04:55):
You mean, like Sean McDermott, Well.
Speaker 2 (04:58):
Sean McDermott's won. I saw a report about Matt Lafleur
that was interesting. And I sometimes wonder too, like if
a coach came open, or a coach gets fired, if
that wouldn't potentially open up another one, Like for example,
the Colts have already come out and say hey, Shane
Steike and Chris ballad are you know they're safe for
(05:20):
next year? But one is if a desirable coach comes open.
Speaker 4 (05:25):
I mean, say, if they wanted John McDermott or Matt Yeah,
I don't think they would do that because I mean
that's kind of tacky to do. I mean, I'm not
saying it's not beyond the realm of impossibility, but I
don't think that would happen. But yeah, I mean, look
at I don't think Lafloor is going to get fired anyways.
I think all the injuries he's had to deal with
(05:45):
and everything that he's gone through this year, I don't
think he's getting fired now. McDermott. That's an interesting one
because right now, what is everybody saying? Everybody everybody's saying
that the AFC Wildcard playoffs are so wide open now.
I mean, the AFC playoffs are so wide open now
with no Lamar Jackson, no Joe Burrow, no Patrick Mahomes.
If Josh Allen can't win the title this year, then
(06:07):
he's never going to win it. And so I think
that puts even more pressure on Sean McDermott to not
only win the wildcard game this week, but to advance
more and maybe even get to the Super Bowl.
Speaker 1 (06:19):
Pete, Which which matchup are you most interested in? What's
the most intriguing one going into this first round of
the playoffs.
Speaker 4 (06:28):
I want to see the rematch of the Packers and
the Bears. I mean, if you're the Packers, you should
have you should have beat them twice. You probably could
have won the division. And now you're at their place
as a wildcard team after the on side kick botching
cost you a chance to win that game the last time.
So to me, that's that's the intriguing one. I want
to see how and I thought the Packers would be
(06:49):
a super Bowl team this year. I think the injuries
have hurt them in a big way, but I still
think they're capable of getting on a run, going into
Chicago and winning that game. I don't think that's beyond
the realm of possibility. And the other thing is, is
anybody beat not beatable in any of the conferences? I mean,
you look at it on a paper, who's good? And I said,
I said, how long have I been saying that guy?
(07:09):
Since Week four? Is anybody any damn good?
Speaker 1 (07:11):
No?
Speaker 4 (07:11):
They're not. Nobody is. And that's why it's going to
be great theater and so wide open. I mean, Seattle
great defense. Do you believe in that offense? I mean,
that's that's major questions on that offensive side of the ball.
Forty nine ers, great offense, bad defense. The other night
the defense played better than the offense. Did nothing because
of the injuries. No Trent Williams, no, no pearsall. Then
(07:32):
you go to the Eagles. They haven't played offense and
good offensive football all year, and they're good on defense.
The Bears defense stinks, offense is pretty good. So you
go across the board. Every team has major flaws, every
one of them, and that's why it's going to be
so wide open.
Speaker 3 (07:47):
Pete Prisco, senior NFL columnist for CBS Sports, CBS Sports
HQ analysts, joining us here on Fox Sports Radio. So
I do want to ask you, because look, I said
it a little while back that I was tired of
the Jaguars.
Speaker 1 (08:01):
I didn't believe in them. They were underwhelming.
Speaker 3 (08:04):
Yet again, just make sure they don't get to the playoffs,
and then all of a sudden, the last six to
eight weeks they look like they're the best team in
the league.
Speaker 1 (08:13):
How surprised are you?
Speaker 3 (08:15):
That Jacksonville is an underdog against those Buffalo Bills and
Josh Allen at home this weekend.
Speaker 4 (08:22):
I'm not surprised they're an underdog because of the Josh
Allen factor. And you know, I've said that the worst
matchup you could get the first round would be to
play Josh Allen in the Buffalo Bills. I just don't
think that you want to put that guy on the
field at a playoff game and have to beat him.
And so that's why I think the oddsmakers are looking
at from that standpoint. Now, Jacksonville has been phenomenal. I mean,
(08:42):
they won the eight games in a row, averaging nineteen
points a game in scoring margin, which is one of
the best scoring margins on an eight game winning streak
I think since two thousand or something like that. So
they have been dominant in this win streak. And Trevor
Lawrence has put himself He's not going to win it,
but he's put himself into the mix of the MVP
common station, which is amazing when you consider. And by
(09:03):
the way, I was no different than you guys earlier
this season criticizing him first play going playing very well,
and now all of a sudden, he's playing at a high,
high level, and that team is capable of going out
in the first round or going on a run and
getting the super Bowl, just like every other team in
the AFC. It's so damn wide open. It's going to
be so hard to predict the playoffs. And if you
ask me right now, is Jacksonville the best team in
(09:26):
terms of what they have? The answer to that question
is no. But unlike all the other teams, I think
across the board, they don't have a great area, but
they don't have a bad area either, And so I
think that you know, there's the number one run defense
in the league. Nobody's rushed for seven No, not one
running back is game seventy five yards on them all year,
(09:47):
which is incredible. And then the other side of the ball,
they can score points. Whether are they dynamic on offense? No?
Are they great on defense? No? But they're good on
both in both areas where you look at every other
team and you can you know the Texan their offense,
oh boy, you don't know what you're going to get
from that group. The Bills on defense, you don't know
what you're going to get from that group. So I
think that gives them a chance to maybe go on
(10:07):
a little bit of a run.
Speaker 2 (10:10):
Pete, is this the greatest turnaround in the NFL history
from one season to another? Like, could you give the
Jaguars that sort of credit for what they've done this
season being four to thirteen last year?
Speaker 4 (10:21):
Oh yeah, I mean there's no doubt about it, and
they were I mean the coaching matters. And you know, Brady,
you played in the league. You've said it all along.
You always preach that, and you know, get a guy
in a situation where he gets a good coach, he's
going to change the way you play. And Trevor Lawrence
has changed the way he plays because the coaching is
good and the offense isn't you know, throwing fourteen hundred
(10:43):
balls to the sidelines all the time like it was
under Doug Peterson. And I think the coaching and the
offensive line matters. I mean, those guys have made big
strides up front. It's actually a good offensive line now
and it was not a year ago. I know they
made some additions, but you know a bunch of those
guys have been back and so I think it does matter,
and guys have elevated their game. So Yeah, it's a
(11:04):
It's an amazing turnaround. And I think Liam Cone deserves
all the credit in the world for doing that because
the coaching across the board and they're good on offense.
He's a good coach, and then you go to defense Campanell,
he's going to be a head coach. I mean, I
don't think there's any questions about that.
Speaker 2 (11:18):
And so didn't you criticize the high in the first place,
Like weren't you the one saying, like do all like
making all that stuff about it?
Speaker 4 (11:25):
I never criticized the high. I thought it was.
Speaker 2 (11:29):
I thought you. I thought I saw something that you're
doing on CBS Sports HQ where you're doing the impression
of him, Like, what is that? What is that that for?
Speaker 4 (11:37):
You know, I can make fun of an impression theyn't
get me wrong. And you know what I made. I
made fun of the impression in front of him, and
I told him, you know what he should do, he
should embrace it, you know, have fun with it. He
he didn't like it initially. I think now he's gotten
pasted it and he embraced it.
Speaker 1 (11:51):
Pete, do you have a lock for a one and
done first round? Added air like Carolina Carolina easy, all right?
Speaker 4 (12:01):
Yeah, well it is that there home. They beat the
Rams last time they played them, so I mean, but yeah,
Carolina is the one done.
Speaker 2 (12:10):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (12:11):
I was curious.
Speaker 3 (12:14):
I don't know why you had to take this approach
in the middle of what was a fun game to watch.
You know, we're talking about the the forty nine ers
and the Seahawks on a Saturday night, and everyone's really
excited about it, and everyone's really excited about the performance
from Seattle, and then Pete chimes in on social media
Seahawks scoring thirteen on that defense is pretty bad. I mean,
(12:37):
can't you just let them enjoy their moment getting the
one seed and winning that division? Like, do we have
to take such a negative spin on this whole thing
with the Seahawks.
Speaker 4 (12:46):
Well, what happened was is I said, it's hard to
believe that these two are the players for the one seed.
That's what my comment was. And the Seattle fans came
roaring at me and said, oh my god, the defense
is great. You don't know what you're talking about. And
I said, great, the defense is fantastic, but scoring thirteen
points on that defense is not a good look for Seattle,
(13:07):
and that's that's where that tweet came from. So yeah,
I look, did I rain on the parade a little bit? Absolutely?
But the bottom line is the bottom line is you
should be concerned about that offense. That's forty nine or
defense gave up what thirty eight points to the week
before to the Bears, and the week before that they
(13:27):
made Philip Rivers actually look competent at times on defense.
So they've been awful on that side of the ball,
and Seattle scored thirteen points. And so that's why I
sent that out to him.
Speaker 2 (13:39):
You really don't have any problem running on anyone's parade,
do you, Budding.
Speaker 4 (13:43):
I'm gonna throw a third in the punchbowl guy kind
of Brandy.
Speaker 1 (13:46):
That's horrible.
Speaker 2 (13:49):
Hey Pete, if you had a do you have an
MVP vote?
Speaker 4 (13:52):
Yes?
Speaker 2 (13:53):
Oh shoot see, we asked Albert Breer. He is, yeah,
one too. I'll just ask this, admitting your decision, what
matters to you most and who you're going to vote for.
Speaker 4 (14:06):
I will say this in this and by the way,
I'm having a real tough time with it. I haven't
turned it in yet, and I will say this, I
don't like any of the talk out there of people saying, oh, well,
they might just give Stafford one because of his you know,
his at the end of his career, and Drake may
can win one down the road.
Speaker 1 (14:23):
All right, sir, vote for Drake may All right, that's
not That's not what I said.
Speaker 2 (14:27):
That's what I'm just saying.
Speaker 1 (14:28):
It sounds like your voting for Drake may Well, damn
sharing on defensive guy you mentioned. I'll say that that's true.
Speaker 2 (14:35):
That's true.
Speaker 1 (14:36):
Why why do you guys only vote for for offensive guys, Pete?
Speaker 4 (14:40):
Like, well, okay, okay, LeVar, let's just say you wanted
to vote for defensive guys, give.
Speaker 1 (14:44):
Me your guy, Miles Garrett.
Speaker 4 (14:46):
Yeah, because they're they're gonna God, what are they going
to do next week in the playoffs? Are they gonna
have a good week?
Speaker 1 (14:52):
Pete? You do realize, you do realize, You do realize
that the Most Valuable Player award is one during the
regular season, and it's your personal it's your performance that
dictates how you're viewed.
Speaker 3 (15:08):
LaVar, you should have said, beata Vance so you could
fat shave him again.
Speaker 1 (15:11):
That's funny.
Speaker 4 (15:12):
No, how could how could you be an m v
P of the team.
Speaker 1 (15:15):
That's stunk because your stat line is I made that.
I made the argument point earlier. If if somebody broke
the single season passing record but their teams stunk, would
you still vote for him to be the m v
P of the league?
Speaker 4 (15:31):
No? No, you would not.
Speaker 1 (15:33):
Yes you would, Pete?
Speaker 2 (15:34):
Okay, okay, can I yes, you would? Can I present
this to you in a different way, Pete?
Speaker 4 (15:42):
Pete?
Speaker 2 (15:42):
Can I present this to you in a different way
than LeVar is presenting.
Speaker 4 (15:45):
It out way out there and planet uh whatever?
Speaker 1 (15:50):
Since well, it's called sensibility.
Speaker 2 (15:53):
If you if you, if you took away.
Speaker 4 (15:58):
You took the plan.
Speaker 1 (16:00):
Oh gosh, your touch, Pete got.
Speaker 2 (16:03):
If if you, Pete, if you took away the premium
that you and other voters put on the quarterback position.
Who would be the best singular player in the league?
Speaker 4 (16:16):
Oh? I mean, if you're asking me who the best
player in the league is this year?
Speaker 2 (16:20):
Yeah, that's what I'm asking you.
Speaker 4 (16:21):
I would probably say Miles Garrett.
Speaker 1 (16:23):
Okay, I would say b John Robinson. But Miles Garrett
had the best statistical and category year of any player
in in the league. In fact, the only two that
that have done what he's done are both well ones
in the Hall of Fame and one will be in.
Speaker 4 (16:41):
One and either one sniffed.
Speaker 1 (16:43):
An MVP, right, which it the point of me asking
the question is why are y'all so biased towards offensive
players when y'all say it's the most valuable player for
the National Football League.
Speaker 4 (16:55):
Nobody's biased to the offensive players. It relates to Miles Garrett,
but look at the team's record.
Speaker 1 (17:01):
No, you're biased. You guys are biased towards offensive players.
Pete US voters are tremendously one sided, very narrow minded.
Speaker 4 (17:10):
I will say it's the bias comes when you're biased
to the quarterback edition. I'll give you that, there's no
question about.
Speaker 1 (17:16):
That one way. More biased towards the quarterbacks position. But
your biased towards the offense. It's not like, oh oh,
like it was a close one between a defender and
an offensive guy. It's like generally that never that's never
comes into play. It's like, yeah, okay, we'll talk about
(17:36):
uh for defensive player, like stay in your lane. It
just seems strange to me that you guys give no
type of real attention to defenders as it applies to
being the best player in the league. Like it's weird
because we are the best players in the league pretty
much every year.
Speaker 4 (17:56):
MVP isn't the best player. That's not what it is.
Speaker 1 (17:58):
I mean, that's the it's an offensive player.
Speaker 4 (18:01):
How could you possibly sit there and say somebody or
anybody from the Cleveland Browns should be an MVP with
the record they have.
Speaker 1 (18:07):
Because Miles Garrett's he's most valuable as a player because
of his stat line.
Speaker 4 (18:15):
And you took Miles Garrett. If you took Miles Garrett
off that team and he didn't play, how many.
Speaker 1 (18:21):
Team I understand that criteria, and I listen again, I
debated with myself in thinking that, but if you break
a historical record, and that is a historical record, like,
there's not going to be very many people that can
get to twenty three sacks, no matter even if they're
they're increasing the amount of games. That's a very, very
(18:42):
very tall task for somebody to get to that many
sacks during the course of a season. For him to
hit that milestone in this season should equate him to
being the most dominant player and performance wise during the
course of this season.
Speaker 4 (18:58):
And I just stay been that MVP. It doesn't make
you the MVP. It's a different award. I get it.
The player of the year. You're crazy.
Speaker 1 (19:07):
Okay, So who's the most valuable to their team? Give
me a good example of who's the most valuable to
their team.
Speaker 4 (19:12):
The quarterbacks are always the most valuable.
Speaker 1 (19:13):
Okay, So there you go. So there you go. That's
what you're biased. You're biased by the.
Speaker 4 (19:18):
Way you would have been. You would have been happy
back in the day Allen Page and Laarne Staleer one NB.
Speaker 1 (19:22):
I know that.
Speaker 4 (19:25):
And by the way, one other thing, if you really
want to look at the sack total, he didn't break
the record Jo Deacon Jones at twenty six and.
Speaker 1 (19:32):
Yeah, they hadn't the phrase yet. He created the sack
I understand.
Speaker 2 (19:37):
So he had, well, look and how many games does
that end?
Speaker 4 (19:42):
Fourteen?
Speaker 2 (19:43):
So we were just talking about Reggie White nineteen eighty seven,
and Pete, I know you you remember this well because
you're a historian of the game. How ridiculous was that?
Twelve games, twenty one sacks?
Speaker 4 (19:54):
It's incredible. I mean, look, there's been Bubba Baker had
what twenty three and for the back in the day,
I mean there's been guys who've had the sack numbers.
But you know they didn't count it as an official
sack back in the day. That back in the day,
So I'm not going to take away from anything Miles
Garrett done. He's the best defensive player in the league.
There's no question about the dynamic player, dynamic force, and
(20:16):
you have to count for him in every play. But
there's Miles Garrett wouldn't tell you he's the MVP of
the bar.
Speaker 1 (20:23):
Come on, I don't buy that. Yeah he might, I don't, Yeah,
I don't bow that.
Speaker 4 (20:28):
Yeah. After all, he did say that the Steelers were
focused on stopping him last week. They were there, Oh yeah,
they were more. They were more focused on stopping him
than actually winning the game that would have got him
into the playoffs, where they would have made less.
Speaker 1 (20:42):
I think the best point came from Q saying that
that's what they should always be thinking with that type
of player he is, which is very true. You should
always be hand. Yeah, it does go hand in hand.
Speaker 2 (20:52):
So it's not like when the defense is on the
field to worry about Miles Garrett. I mean, it's the
whole thing was ridiculous.
Speaker 1 (20:57):
But they were certainly they were certainly getting rid of
the ball way quicker way earlier because they did not
want him to get that.
Speaker 2 (21:04):
Here, here's my argument to that is, has anyone watched
the Steelers offense this year, Like Rogers doesn't want to
get touched. He gets rid of the ball in like
two seconds, two and a half seconds every snap.
Speaker 4 (21:13):
Anyway, Yeah, keper last night because the Ravens except for
last night, because the Ravens couldn't sniff sniff a pass
rush they're so bad.
Speaker 2 (21:21):
Well, there's there's that too. Even though it trust me,
he was still getting rid of the ball quick, even
though Collinsworth, you know, it was just it was just
enamored with all of it. Uh, Pete, it's twenty twenty six.
Now do you have New Year's resolutions? Are you the
type of guy that does that sort of thing?
Speaker 4 (21:35):
No?
Speaker 2 (21:37):
No, So what does that say about? What does that
say about people that do make ne Yo's resolutions?
Speaker 4 (21:42):
E's Pete, Well, here's here's a here's one New Year's
thing that you know this Brady is drive it crazy.
Like you see somebody on January twenty second, it's like
Happy New Year, And I'm like that was about twenty
one days ago. You're late, you know, I mean, I
don't get that there there should be a statue of
stations for somebody to say, happy news.
Speaker 2 (21:59):
How many days do you get? Larry David says, like
January fourth or fifth?
Speaker 4 (22:02):
Right? I think in the next day Overuary second.
Speaker 1 (22:06):
I'm with you, Pete. Have you and pet Trose ever
had a conversation? Pete? Have y'all ever like, have y'all
ever wrapped to each other, like like online, like on
live radio or whatever, because y'all should, man, I would
that would be such an interesting listen to hear you too,
like interact with one another.
Speaker 4 (22:27):
Why does he have a lot of the same viewpoints
I have?
Speaker 1 (22:31):
I don't know that it's the same viewpoints. I just
think that I think you're both have like curmudgeons syndrome
as curmudgeon?
Speaker 4 (22:39):
Is that curmudget Is that weet?
Speaker 1 (22:40):
You're kind of a curmudgeon?
Speaker 4 (22:42):
Bro? Is that being a curmudgeon saying you don't want
to hear happy New Year of January twenty second?
Speaker 1 (22:47):
I just think it's all of it all together. It
kind of comes like equates to like, you're a grumpy
old man, Bro.
Speaker 4 (22:54):
I'm Brady'll tell you I'm a happy guy, Hey, Peter.
Speaker 1 (22:58):
Not grumpy Pete. I didn't want to ask Pete.
Speaker 3 (23:02):
I did want to ask you, is there any there
is there some sort of beef going on with you
and Clarence Hill Like you know, he was pointing out
that Sam Levitt transferred to Kentucky, and he made sure
to give you a shout out. He said, quote he
traded Scottsdale for Lexington. The money must be good and
his Arizona state broke. Pete Prisco rolling over in his grave,
(23:24):
to which you respond to my great alive and well, Grandpa,
I mean, what's going on here, Pete?
Speaker 4 (23:30):
Well, you know, look, Clarence, me and Clarence. I love Clarence.
We always get in there. We have we get into
little arguments and stuff. But the thing is is, Clarence
I didn't even somebody said that to me. I would
never seen it because he didn't tag me in it,
so I would have never saw it. So of course
Jamie Eisenberg and Brady knows, stirs the pot and sends
it to me. So I replied to it. And you
(23:50):
know he always I always go up. Clarence puts up
pictures all the time of his daughters, you know, And
he said, look, my daughter's graduating from here or whatever.
I like you, liar, those are your granddaughters. Those aren't
your daughters. You're seventy years old. What are you talking about?
Speaker 3 (24:09):
You know he did choose Lexington over over ten p
I mean like you're I mean, I don't know how
that lands with you.
Speaker 4 (24:16):
But you know what, though, here's how it lands with me.
See you see you later? You left, you left too
many dance clean possets. Anyways.
Speaker 2 (24:25):
Yeah, I'm just gonna say, let's actually break down the player.
What is Lexington giving? Getting there? In Sam Levitt?
Speaker 4 (24:31):
Here, here's the play. You're ready to do it? Okay?
The sun Devils are in third and seven for the
Sun Devils back to throw Sam Levin. Oh look he
puts the swoot the ground and he runs out of
there and scrambles away for four yards. That's what he's
Sam Levin. So you can have you can have him. Look,
they made him one of the highest paid guys in
nil one. Good enough for him. They made him a
player after he transferred from Michigan State. That wasn't good
(24:54):
enough for you?
Speaker 1 (24:55):
See?
Speaker 4 (24:55):
Is Sam go play in the SEC? Go play at
Kentucky or where. I don't even think he's finished making
his vision yet as he's still up in the air.
I think there's a L. Shue is now in the equation.
But you know what, I went and watched a little
bit of the quarterback they got from Kentucky and that
transferred in there. That kid's got some talent now, big strong,
physical kid. I'm more enamor with him than I was
(25:17):
with Sam Levitt. Like I say, when every one of
them leaves Sea, see ya, see ya, see ya. Get out.
Speaker 2 (25:24):
On that note, though, Sam level was a guy that
people had talked about after how they played in that
college football playoff run two years ago, you might be
a first round pick after this year. Do you ever
when you hear that stuff, you ever just like calmed down.
Obviously a lot's changed over the course of just one
college football season, but do you always take it with
(25:45):
kind of a grain of salt?
Speaker 4 (25:46):
Yeah, because remember, this was going to be the greatest,
one of the great quarterback classes that we've seen, and
it's kind of become just an average quarterback class. So
in next year they're talking about it's going to be
a great quarterback class. We don't know. I mean, do
guys develop? You know that? And I thought it after
that year when they when they went to the playoffs,
was going to develop into something. And he didn't. He
didn't develop last year. He wasn't as good. And I
(26:07):
said that even when he was on the field, I
didn't think before we even knew he was leaving, I
didn't think he was as good last year. And so
it takes You know, by the way arch Manning was
going to be the slam dunk number one pick if
he came out, well, it wouldn't have been that way now.
But I will tell you this, Arch Manning that we've
seen that in the last four or five games is
going to end up being the number one pick next year.
(26:27):
So it takes time, it takes development. Yes, he will be, Yes,
you will be.
Speaker 2 (26:32):
Go watch if c Car takes another step he did
this year, he'll be there one overall pick.
Speaker 4 (26:37):
There it is the.
Speaker 2 (26:39):
Go watch the tape.
Speaker 4 (26:41):
I'm with you. I'm with you, Brady. I love the kid.
I think the kid's really good, but I think I
think there it is got to be another. He's got
to be the Golden Domer.
Speaker 2 (26:52):
Go back and watch it, go back and watch it.
I'll put his table versus anyone.
Speaker 4 (26:56):
They sure got in over Alabama, and that was what
happened in the in the those just proof of that
Notre Dame should have been in the head of Alabama,
no doubt about it.
Speaker 3 (27:05):
Pete always fun. Get him on ex at Prisco CBS.
He's Pete Praemer, Senior NFL calling CBS, Sports, CBS Sports HP.

The Leftovers that'll be yours right here on FSR. Can
I call an audible here at the line of scrimmage?
Speaker 1 (28:41):
You guys too? All right?
Speaker 3 (28:44):
Justin Cooper just told me more about his purchase of
his Broncos tickets, and he has put himself in a
very interesting situation which I would be fascinated to hear.
What your guys' thoughts are as people who travel a
lot more than me, are on flights a lot more
(29:04):
than me, and have seen this behavior before. Coop, explain
the dilemma that you're currently up with these tickets.
Speaker 2 (29:11):
Just I feel like I'm gonna get judgment from Brady here.
Speaker 4 (29:15):
But so.
Speaker 2 (29:20):
I guess I'm the judge. You one.
Speaker 1 (29:23):
I just feel like me me cute, maybe a little
bit at times from time to time, maybe.
Speaker 2 (29:33):
Because I ask questions about people make a dumb decision.
Speaker 1 (29:36):
Sorry, well, okay, So.
Speaker 7 (29:40):
I wanted to buy tickets for the divisional round, went
on there. They were already you know, most of the
tickets are season ticket holders anyway, and they're not giving
those up. There's a very few amount of individual game
tickets for the playoffs. By the time I got on there,
there were no pairs together. There was maybe like thirty
or forty just individual seats left in the entire stadium.
(30:03):
And we're talking about like the face value from Ticketmaster.
Obviously there were pairs available on resale, but I bought
two tickets. They are not together. They I found the
only two individual seats in the whole stadium that are
in the same row. So as of this moment, my
wife and I are nine seats apart. And my plan
(30:27):
is to just you know, ask people like an airplane, hopefully,
you know, fellow Broncos fans, would you be willing to
just move down one seat? And I'm ready to offer
to buy beers or you know whatever for this. But
I posted about this in like a Denver Broncos subreddit
and they they did not respond well.
Speaker 1 (30:51):
So I just I don't know. I don't have high hopes.
Speaker 7 (30:55):
But I my thought was I would rather spend this
because any other pairs together in that section or anywhere
near there were like fifteen hundred apiece resale. So I
bought a couple for eight hundred them not together.
Speaker 2 (31:11):
Go ahead, you No, y'all could kiss my ass. I'm
not working about this. I mean, honestly, my initial thought
was you might have thought of a new business idea.
You literally may have just brought about a way of
utilizing the single tickets for people who want to go
in groups and figuring out a way of like pairing
it all together to make it work. That was my
(31:32):
initial thought. But you know, y'all could kiss my ass.
Speaker 1 (31:34):
Go into.
Speaker 3 (31:36):
Like here's so you're gonna have to basically convince eight
people nine people.
Speaker 1 (31:41):
Yeah, but it's not going to happen.
Speaker 3 (31:44):
It wouldn't like I wouldn't care like that. Yeah, whatever,
you want to sit next to your wife, that's fine.
Speaker 5 (31:49):
I do.
Speaker 3 (31:49):
I do think that kind of we're bearing the lead here.
The view was more important than the seat next to
your wife.
Speaker 1 (31:58):
Let's be clear.
Speaker 4 (31:59):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (31:59):
So, I mean I could have spent like five hundred
a piece on tickets together, but that were like up
in the top row of the entire stadium, made more
to sit away from your wife.
Speaker 1 (32:11):
But these are primost seats.
Speaker 7 (32:13):
There hasn't been a playoff game in Denver in like
ten years, so that's her fault. I've never been to
a playoff game. Look, she knows what she married into.
Speaker 1 (32:24):
That's just that's what I'm saying.
Speaker 8 (32:26):
That's you did run it by Kat and she said.
Speaker 4 (32:28):
To do it.
Speaker 1 (32:29):
That's true, she said, that is true. Allowed to time
in on this particular conversation. That is crazy.
Speaker 7 (32:38):
Now you bring up a good point, Leb. I don't
like even hearing her talk about my high stadium.
Speaker 8 (32:43):
I helped him with beer prices, and I told him
that the Nosebleeds do have really good view of the fireworks.
Speaker 1 (32:48):
So I've been there before. Lorena, Oh, I.
Speaker 8 (32:51):
Really like the pony on top two. I think that's nice.
Speaker 2 (32:55):
That's thunder.
Speaker 4 (32:57):
Oh.
Speaker 8 (32:57):
And also if you sit at the top, you have
a beautiful view mountains.
Speaker 1 (33:00):
I'm not sitting on the top.
Speaker 8 (33:01):
That's I'm just saying. There is perks if you want
the nosebleeds.
Speaker 3 (33:05):
So your wife's gonna be okay, sitting away from you
for the sake of better for a better view.
Speaker 7 (33:09):
She's not thrilled about it. When we bought the tickets,
I was pretty sure. I was like, oh, of course
people are going to move over. But then, you know,
like I said on the subway to.
Speaker 1 (33:18):
People, people are like, superious, Yeah, just sell, they'll go together.
Speaker 7 (33:27):
But yeah, you were right, LeVar wants to people people
responding to commented like, I've I've sat in the same
seat since nineteen seventy eight and I'm not gonna, you know,
move over one seat for because you were too cheap
to buy tickets together.
Speaker 4 (33:41):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (33:42):
Yeah, it's a real fan base, real snobby, but that's
how it works.
Speaker 4 (33:47):
Though.
Speaker 1 (33:47):
You can't be mad at them and me it's there.
Speaker 7 (33:49):
Yeah, no, I'm look, I'm not gonna get mad if
somebody says no, but you know, be a bummer. But
I'll still enjoy the game.
Speaker 1 (33:59):
Spicy conversation is a spicy I'll throw some hot sauce
on it then, And if you're gonna throw some hot
sauce on it, make it Louisiana hot sauce. It's a
hotly debated topic. Who's this year's MVP. And I'm not
talking most Valuable Player like we did during that segment
with mister Prisco. I'm talking about most Valuable poor and
(34:20):
mine is the Louisiana Hot Sauce. You can dress up
your favorite eats with it, with ease, Nacho's pizza gumbo.
You know all of the above. That taste is going
to score and that's my VP. That's Louisiana Hot Value.
Speaker 3 (34:36):

Time to find out what's left Ton's incredible.
Speaker 1 (35:59):
Here's the all right, Lary Ray, what do we got? Well?
Speaker 9 (36:02):
First off, I just want to say how much I
missed you guys last wee We missed you too, Yeah,
I could tell Yeah.
Speaker 8 (36:10):
Anyways, let's get to these leftovers.
Speaker 9 (36:12):
That's pretty scrumptious today, you know, anything for the win.
The Steelers were prepping for the game in a very
unconventional way. They had a priest actually come out and
use holy water on the field to you know, give
them good luck and good fortune and have.
Speaker 8 (36:28):
God on their side.
Speaker 9 (36:30):
And it looked like the holy Water worked the end
zone that the Ravens missed that winning game field goal.
Speaker 8 (36:37):
That was the end zone that was blessed.
Speaker 2 (36:38):
So he did miss it wide right, and I think
he did he put in the left or right port
of the end zone.
Speaker 1 (36:44):
It looked like the right side. I looked like the
same side.
Speaker 2 (36:48):
So you're saying the holy Water was pulling the ball there?
Speaker 4 (36:51):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (36:52):
Yes? Or was pushing it?
Speaker 2 (36:54):
I mean, either way, you can make a case for
the holy Water.
Speaker 1 (36:56):
So they missed the extra point. Yeah, So what happened
on Boswa's kick?
Speaker 4 (37:00):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (37:01):
Interesting?
Speaker 2 (37:02):
But when he needs to wasn't that in the opposite
end zone?
Speaker 5 (37:06):
Though?
Speaker 4 (37:06):
It was?
Speaker 1 (37:07):
But but still, you know, I mean, I mean, was
God limited to just that one little space on the field?
Is that the most that turf's been watered? Thang?
Speaker 8 (37:16):
Good one, Jonas. Wow, I didn't mean to laugh at
your joke.
Speaker 1 (37:20):
That was a really bad joke.
Speaker 8 (37:21):
It was I'm never gonna laugh at your jokes again.
I'm so sorry, that was horrible. Okay, I got another
leftover for you guys.
Speaker 9 (37:28):
The New York Jets this season is the first and
only team in NFL history without an interception.
Speaker 1 (37:36):
Yea. By the way, they did something of note.
Speaker 3 (37:40):
And by the way, how about Mitch Trubisky giving them
that wark yesterday?
Speaker 2 (37:47):
Yeah, it was phenomenal.
Speaker 1 (37:48):
Good to see. Uh guess good to see that.
Speaker 3 (37:50):
That that defensive presence with Aaron Glenn as the head
coach there, it's awesome, man, Why that team stinks?
Speaker 2 (37:58):
By the way, Glenn had what forty one interceptions in
his career? Yeah, like like six return back for touchdown.
It's kind of wild that his team the first year
as a head coach wouldn't even have one.
Speaker 1 (38:09):
Can they borrow some is?
Speaker 4 (38:11):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (38:11):
Sick cold? He jump out there playing the second there.
Speaker 1 (38:15):
That ain't good. That's awful.
Speaker 2 (38:19):
That's how cool?
Speaker 1 (38:20):
Orina, Oh I got more?
Speaker 8 (38:21):
I got more? Okay, So do you guys want sports?
Or can I go over to food?
Speaker 1 (38:24):
Real you could go to food? Okay, So I actually.
Speaker 8 (38:26):
Found out this really cool thing. It is really cold outside.
Speaker 9 (38:30):
But back in the nineteen sixties, Dr Pepper launched a
campaign to get people to start drinking Doctor Pepper boiling
hot instead of cold because their sales.
Speaker 8 (38:37):
Dropped so low in the winter, and it was actually
a really popular.
Speaker 9 (38:41):
Thing for twenty years until the eighties. Have you guys
ever had boiling hot doctor Pepper?
Speaker 3 (38:45):
No?
Speaker 8 (38:46):
No, they say, to boiler in a saucepan and then
pour it over a fresh lemon wedge.
Speaker 1 (38:51):
Oh oh, hove to try that out.
Speaker 8 (38:54):
I'm gonna try it this weekend. I'm really excited. I've
never had hot soda.
Speaker 1 (38:58):
I'm so mad at me and to react the same
exact way anymore, Like it's weird, weird, bro. No, I
think it's the whole show all the like we do
stuff where we say the same exact thing at the
same exact time. That, huh is funny though, yeah, huh
(39:18):
it was. It was the same exact time, Like it
was Jinks all the way.
Speaker 2 (39:22):
Yeah, I mean, I think we're both go off guard
to look at that.
Speaker 1 (39:26):
I did not think I was gonna but in my mind,
do you do you want to try that?
Speaker 6 (39:31):
No?
Speaker 8 (39:31):
Yeah, no, right, it's in a movie too, write Coop
Flash from the Past.
Speaker 2 (39:37):
I want to try. I'd want to try with my
kids because we don't let them have like really any soda,
So that would be one where I'm like, all right,
i'll try.
Speaker 8 (39:45):
This same let's try it sounds delicious.
Speaker 1 (39:47):
No, it doesn't.
