(00:27):
So many of you out there, we hope you are
safe and sound. We've been talking about the frigid temperatures
all across the country. Some guy just sent me a
screenshot of the weather in Texas at minus five, So
have fun with that out in Texas, you know, stay warm,
bundle up. Jeff Schwartz and I will keep you company
here all the way until nine am Eastern times six

(00:48):
o'clock Pacific, right here on Fox Sports Radio. And Jeff Schwartz,
do you're You're in a in an interesting spot because
you talked about this earlier. Your brother, a member of
the Kansas City Chiefs, obviously a mitch of Schwartz, the
offensive lineman defending Super Bowl champions, but he suffered an injury,
and just watching the Super Bowl, you could tell the

(01:09):
one glaring disadvantage that Kansas City had in that game
was on the offensive line, because it looked like Patrick
Mahomes back at Texas Tech, like like, that's why it
looked like he was looked like he was running for
his life the entire game. And I would venture to
guess Patrick Mahomes has never been as sore after a

(01:30):
football game in the NFL as he was in that
Super Bowl game. He took a beating. He did take
a beating. UM. And you know, obviously, leading up to
that game, I picked the Chiefs. I mean I really
obvious didn't really have much of a choice. UM, But
I told people that, UM, look like, guys watch off
his offensive line issue. Because if we had said any

(01:53):
other year, essentially right, any other game, any other time
of the year, any other quarter back, Hey, guys, you're
out four of your starting offensive lineman and three guys
are playing their first game at that current position in
that game, whether it's week one, week seven, week thirteen,
wild Car round, we would all say, hey, that team

(02:14):
is going to lose the game. And it happened exactly
how he would have said. It happened so many other times,
and people are like, oh, I didn't see this coming,
because obviously Pat Mahomes is so great and he's able
to make plays and do things um that um are
so extraordinary that we've overlooked the Chief's offensive line being concerned. Look,

(02:39):
they've had all these backups in all year. This is
not new. But obviously in this moment, Pat Homes is
not able to overcome it. And it's unfair to only
talk about the Chief's offense as a failure without mentioning
the Bucks defense played outstanding. And my take away from
this game is the Bucks defense forced the issue on

(03:02):
the Chiefs, and the Chiefs could have done a lot
of things differently. Um, but the Bucks defense was outstanding. Man,
they played so well, and the storylines should be how
well they played, not so much that the Chief's offense failed.
And again it wasn't It wasn't really on Mahomes. Um,
Bucks just played much better than they did. Yeah. Well,

(03:23):
I like, I can't remember many times during that game
where Mahomes wasn't just scrambling for his dear life like it.
And I'm not saying that all of that was just
instant pressure. Maybe Mahomes just started to lose confidence and
realized I gotta I gotta get around and move a
little bit, so I can you know, you know, buy
my receiver some time. But it just felt like the
entire game he was under pressure and under stress. Um,

(03:46):
it did feel that way. And but here's the thing.
If you go back and watch the game too, there
were lots of times when they they they did block
it up like they did actually, um, they blocked how
they were supposed to. And the was no one open.
And my homes are scrambling late in the down because
no one was open. Um. And I think that is

(04:07):
is something again goes back to Tampa defense just doing
a great job and making sure that there was no
one open. And part of that was because and so
this is something that's it's important to discuss. So people
always say, hey, you know, when when you're playing a
good pass rush, what you have to do is you
have to to to pack in the box. You have
to you have to help both tackles, you have to

(04:27):
help the offensive I gotta move the pocket. That's all great,
But what happens is and it's happened along in this game.
I have my notes right here. I started twelve times
in the first half, twenty nine plays to the Chiefs
help their offensive line. That doesn't count r p O
s or screens. But what happens is this happened a
bunch jonas is when you kept the tight end in
or running back here sometimes both is that you have

(04:48):
less guys out in the routes. And so when you
have a coverage that they play a bunch of cover two,
so you have seven guys in on you know, on
defense they're covering in and only rushing four and three
wide receivers on the route, all three guys get double
teamed and no one's open, and so you need to
spread out a pass rush, you just spread out, and
they just didn't. They just didn't do it. So um

(05:11):
it um. Yeah, it was not the best showing for
that Chief's offense. I think game plan wise, they came
in a little bit worried about, you know, their offensive
line and kind of had a game plan designed to
limit what their offensive line would do just because they
were worried about them. And it makes sense about why
they would be worried about it. And I don't think
they were as as as aggressive as it is it

(05:33):
maybe could have been or should have been. Um And
it was a tough It was a tough go for them.
But again I think that the credit here should go
to Tampa and not really the Chiefs failures. You know
who I feel bad for, Mike Rammers. All right, that's
who I feel bad too. Here's the thing, because it's
going to be looked at historically. Let's just say he

(05:55):
never gets to another Super Bowl again. Like we saw
what happened. He's you know, he's in he's playing offensive line,
and we see what happens to Patrick Mahomes. He was
also the tackle if I'm not mistaken, in Carolina when
Von Miller went off on the Super Bowl against it.
He was Denver. So that to me, I feel bad

(06:16):
for that because he's going to carry right or wrong.
He's going to carry that for you know, probably as
long as he's in the NFL, for however much longer
he's going to be playing. And I know he's in
his thirties, has been in the league quite some time.
But I feel bad for a guy like that who
gets put on the spot, maybe not in the most
ideal situation. Uh and and they end up, you know,
it ends up playing out in the two biggest games

(06:38):
of his career in front of everybody watching. Yeah, I mean,
look for him in this game. You know it was
it was kind of everyone right on the offensive line
played poorly. And I'm not sure that Mike rerembers himself.
Um was like the worst of the bunch. Um, it
just it just he was on the offensive line in
that Denver in that in that Denver Panthers game, there

(06:59):
was specific plays unfortunately where von Miller got him. So
it's a little bit easier to say, hey man, you
know that game was more um maybe a tough, a
tough part of his legacy. This game too, We didn't
feel that way watching the game. I didn't really do
you think that Mike Grammars specifically played all that bad? Again,
the Chiefs offensive line, he gave my home's time on

(07:19):
some some reps. Just there was no one open down
the field. But yeah, I mean to get the Super
Bowl twice and lose that manner, it's gotta be tough.
And I've never been there, so you know, I'm over
for three. I was over three two playoffs, but um,
it's gotta it's gotta be rough. Man. You know who
you know who's got one of the most under talked
about Super Bowl bad luck resumes in maybe NFL history,

(07:46):
West Welker. Alright, think about this. Westwolker goes to two
Super Bowls in New England. All right, he's part of that.
He was part of that UH sixteen and old Patriots
team in the regular season with him and Randy Moss
and and they were going up and down the field
and they were awesome. And he was part of that team.
And they lose to the Giants. Then he goes to

(08:06):
the second Super Bowl against the Giants to get his revenge.
He loses that game. He drops a pass from Tom Brady,
only to have Tom Brady's wife call him out after
the game. Then he goes to Denver and he loses
the Super Bowl with the Broncos because they get annihilated
by the Seattle Seahawks. And then afterwards he ends up

(08:28):
being the ride receivers coach for the forty Niners last
year when they lose that Super Bowl. This guy can't
catch a break every time he can bowl. West Welker
has never won a Super Bowl. Wow. Yeah, Like. One
of the most under talked about story is his bad luck.
Like I every time Westwell greets to the Super Bowl,
he gets kicked in the balls. Like I feel terrible

(08:49):
for the guy, and he's, yeah, he's he's had an
amazing NFL career. Awesome. Just his his story, how he
came out recruiting UM, you know, the the fact that
it was um when he came out of high school.
The only guy that would actually give him a chance
was Mike Leach at Texas Tech. UM. And then just

(09:10):
to see him get to the NFL, gets to the
you know, he's on the Chargers, gets cut, signs with
the Dolphins, can do everything, gets picked up by the Patriots.
But it's like he just has the worst luck. When
he gets to a super Bowl, the team he's on
falls apart, and sometimes in just catastrophic ways or or
latent games with an opportunity to win. Him feel terrible

(09:30):
for the guy. Man, I swear to guy, I don't know.
I couldn't live with myself. It's it would it would
be like being one number, one number off from winning
the lotto five times. Like if you're one number off
from winning the Latto five times and somebody says, hey, man,
but at last you won like twenty two grand I'd
be like, kiss my ass. I could have eight point

(09:52):
four million right now, and you're you're making me feel
good about two. It's like he's got how many conference
championship rings, but he can't get a Super Will ring?
Suck man. I didn't realize it was that. I realized
that he's he's on the Niners staff, and that was
he was the wide receiver's coach for the I was
obviously at that game, and um, you know, Niners played

(10:14):
them for a long part of that game. I felt like,
I'm pretty sure they felt that they were gonna win. Um,
and obviously did not end in that way. Man. That's
I don't realize it was vest And also he he
lost to those Super Bowls as huge favorites, right, I
mean the two seven and then two thous and was
a thirteen with the Broncos. Yes, they were a huge

(10:35):
favorites in that Super Bowl. Oh don't trust me, you don't.
You don't have to remind me about how big a
favorite so Broncos were that Super Bowl. That is the
worst gambling run I ever had in my life. Absolutely
the worst. Uh, you can't even have it on a
piece of paper because it was so astonishing. I thought
for sure that Denver Broncos were gonna win that game

(10:56):
against Seattle. I thought. I was convinced Denver's gonna win
that game. Game, Uh, Seattle is too young with all
that firepower. That Denver offense was awesome, whether d Marius Thomas,
Eric Decker like, okay, so you know they were awesome,
and I thought, for sure Denver is gonna win this game.

(11:17):
It's just it's too much, too soon for that young
Seattle team. And I had every bet I made before
the game was on Denver. And then when the game
started and there was the safety to start things off,
I had a bad feeling. All right, this is not
a good sign. But I continued to in game bet
the Denver Broncos, how much of you? How much? Okay,

(11:39):
the entire game, even even when Percy Harvin returned the
kick for the touchdown, I still went in and continued
to live bet. I'm not exaggerating when I say this.
I was one in seventeen in bets that game. I
could not get it in my head that Seattle was
going to win this game. And then you look up
and the scores for eight You're like, what the hell
happened here? Like what happened? How did they hold that

(12:01):
team to a point? And you played against that team.
If somebody told you after those games, when you were
at the Chiefs playing the Denver Broncos in that offense,
they were going to be held at eight points in
the Super Bowl, what would you have said to him?
I would have been at all. I mean we started
that year nine and o and we went up to
Denver on Sunday Football. They beat us, and then we
played him in Kansas City and we lost by seven.

(12:24):
We actually were driving to tie the game and I
think Alex Smith threw a ball that was tipped in
the end zone. It was picked um. And I remember
there's only three players I've ever been in awe of
UM kind of playing either with or against, and that
is UM. Adrian Peterson, who was I was there in
twelve when he rushed for dous in yards in Minnesota,

(12:46):
Julius Peppers and and Peyton Manning. Because Manning that year,
remember on the sidelines I watched him throw it pass.
I was like, you know what, there's no way this
guy is catching the ball, like he just fold the
ball up there. It was had the most perfect past ever.
I mean, he just tortured us those two games. I
remember seeing myself like this, is this is an incredible
It was incredible watching him play. Yeah, that team was

(13:09):
off and yeah it cost me, cost me quite a
bit of money because I just couldn't get out of
my head that they weren't going to win that game.
Unbelievable once you realize it was going downhill. I mean,
I feel like the only team in the NFL or
you ever bet money, is the Chiefs. And I'm sure
a lot of people lost a bunch of money in
the Super Bowl doing the thing. Oh of course, yeah,
because you just you can't picture that that offense is

(13:29):
going to be held and made to look like that.
But man, it's like the time, It stands the test
of time if you can play good enough defense and
just keep your team in games, if your offense is
just average, like what Warren Warren Sapp said back in
the day, Man, if we're if we have the fifteen
best offense, we're gonna win the super Bowl. Like if

(13:50):
we just start average, we're gonna win the Super Bowl.
And I think the tough part with that in this
in this day and age, is like getting there, Yes,
with getting the Super Bowl with that style of Ts'
is really tough. When you get there, we often see
the defense that's the better defense has a better chance
to win. Now, obviously that didn't work two years ago,

(14:12):
but this year was very clear. But it's really tough
to judge this year because you know, if the Chiefs
a healthy offensive wine, they probably win that game. And
that's just it's just kind of truth of it. And
and also let's and if we're going to tell the
truth about that game, man, their receivers had an opportunity
to make plays in that game. They were drops and
and Patrick Mahomes played his ass off and and if
if Tyreek Hill makes a grab here, um, you know,

(14:35):
if they don't call back the interception by Tyrone Matthew
on the holding call there, I mean one or two
plays in that game, and we're it's a completely different
outcome the end of the first half the past interference.
So yeah, it's not it's not the wipe out everyone
is is has made it out to be. But there
were a couple of plays that had major impacts on
that game towards the end, no doubt about it was

(14:57):
the Broncos Seahawks game and that was the one who
met life right New York, New York. And then and
then I felt got lucky. Super Bowl. Yeah, that let
me happen again. My thing about about the Super Bowl
is like, I get a cold weather cities want the
super Bowl, but look, the super Bowl should be playing
in pristine conditions, Like it's what the idea that could
have reigned in the super Bowl in Tampa Like kind
of bothered because I feel like both of these teams

(15:18):
had had worked hard to get here and the games
we've played in the best of conditions. Sorry, cold weather cities,
you shouldn't. You shouldn't get super Bowls. I'm sorry. Unless
you have the dope, you know, don't be my guest.
But like you know, people are put in in X
like no, it's cold there, no, no, yeah, it's uh yeah,
I agree. I need some sunshine. I don't need the
elements in a super Bowl game. He's Jeff Schwartz. I'm

(15:41):
Jonah Knocks in for Clay Traviss is outkicked the coverage
here on Fox Sports Radio. Can Hang Out with Us
is always on the I Heart Radio app bottom of
the hour. A little over ten minutes from now, we
are going to catch up with the Daytona five hundred winner,
Michael McDowell, So that would be a lot of fun.
We'll be talking with him. But coming up next though, um,
little does Jeff know there is somebody on this show

(16:04):
who has rooted for his failure. Alright, somebody on this show,
working on this show has rooted for Jeff Schwartz to fail.
We will get to the bottom of that next here
on FSR, this is outkicked the coverage with Clay Travis
coming up in a little over five minutes from now

(16:24):
here on fs ARE we're going to catch up with
the Daytona five winner, Michael McDowell, so he will be
stopping by. I want to live vicariously through Michael mcdowal
Jeff Schwartz. I want to know what the hell it's
like to win the Daytona five. I want to know
about the after party. I want to know about the
lack of sleep. I also want to find out how
real or how fake the movie Days of Thunder is.

(16:46):
That's what I gotta know. Like, I have several questions
to ask. I want to at what moment did he
realize he won? In front of him smash into the wall.
I didn't realize it, like right away. He's just so
folk used on kind of escaping that and finishing the
last lap, because um uh, that's an ending that we

(17:07):
haven't seen very often. So I'm and also I saw
a tweet that said that that the total got pushed
to Monday, and I was like, okay, like this is
like eight o'clock on Sunday. I was like, okay, well,
this this is over. I'm gonna go sleep. And then
I went up in the morning and they obviously finished,
so I'm kind of I'm kind of just find out

(17:27):
like how they went from hey, we're gonna delay this
to the next day too, Oh, we're finishing tonight. Yeah.
It was just that was a crazy raise, crazy ending.
So we look forward to catching up with Michael McDowell
the Dayton again coming up less than five minutes from
now here on Fox Sports Radio. All right, so quickly,
I wanted to mention this to you, um because I
don't know if you know this or not, right, but

(17:49):
you are working with somebody who actively rooted against you
at least twice. All right. Now, you mentioned that you
remember the Kansas City Chiefs back in the season, and
I don't know if you know this or not, but Roberto,
our technical producer. He is a die hard Raiders fan.
In fact, he actually has a Deren Carr tattoo. He

(18:12):
doesn't he doesn't even have the jersey. He's just got
car number four is back tattooed in. I feel I
feel very sorry for him. Alright, So, so he is
a die hard Raider fan. And then as we're talking
about the great Denver Bronco team that fell short in
the Super Bowl, but the one that you you competed against,

(18:33):
you've got Justin Cooper, executive producer. Yeah, I mean die
hard Broncho fan. He too has a tattoo. It's Ostweiler
Ostweiler on his back. So when you know that you're
working with two guys who actively rooted for you to
fail and probably would have celebrated had you suffered an
injury in either of those games, how does that make

(18:54):
you feel? Josh Wartz Well, Um, especially the Raiders. Um.
I mean I was on the field for the game.
Jamal Charles scored five touchdowns in that dump they called
the pos So I have no qualms with the Raiders,
even though trolling the Raider fans on Twitter it's one
of my favorite things of all. There's this guy who

(19:15):
just like he you know, like people weirdly attack me.
They're like, you you only played eight years. Uh You're
like you were you were a bum, you didn't make
any money as okay, like like like that's the Raider
fans say to me, you were you were just some
some scrub who played eight years. Okay, great enough. Bronclois fans,

(19:38):
I haven't really you know, Bronclos fans not really uh
not not as fierce on the on the social media
be I don't really getting I've never really had a
deal deal with Broncos fans. I haven't been good in
a smart fans. Oh that's what you're smart fans a Roberta.
You know what that is, don't you. There's a drop
for that in the system. You know what. You know
what that is. He's basically calling he's saying that Raider

(20:00):
fans are dumb, and you know why that is there?
Any is there any question? Is that like a question
or that you you said it? You know from this
statement of fact from the gods fans are just like
I mean, you would have thought when they beat the
Chiefs of October they should just put a banner up
at that New stadium like October Super Bowl Champs. Here

(20:23):
are intelligent Bronco Vans. They're drafting of Robert Nickim Nick
telligent Bronco Vans coop coop? Is that you trying to
pronounce Robert Kim Look, it was very early tell that

(20:44):
is brilliant that Eve though. I'm sure there was a
lot of people that butcher that. By the way, he's
the guy who fell out of the window, right, he's
got so high he fell out of the window. Seriously,
what kind of weed are you? Honestly, like, what kind
of we are you smoking? That you think you're the
dragon from Games of Thrones like he was that he

(21:04):
was that he was in that Mississippi class that was
like went from a hundred of the year before to
number one. Treadwell yeah, and everyone was like, yeah, they're
they're they're probably cheating and guess what they were so um,
you know, you get like three of the top five
players like in one season. I random with all of
a sudden, oh oh yeah they were cheating. Yeah makes sense.

(21:26):
Yeah he was supposed to be. He kind of end
up being a flame in the NFL. Yeah, because he
got taken by Arizona. I think he was Arizona. Yeah,
and he dropped a little yeah. Yeah, that was a
wild story, I think. Yeah. He just jumped jumped out
of a like the first floor of or like the
second story of a building or something. It was crazy.
Jonah stocks Jeff Schwartz here in for Clay Travis. This
is out Kicked the coverage here on Fox Sports Radio

(21:48):
from the Farmers out Kick Studios called one eight eight
eight Farmers and you could save a whole lot of
something on auto insurance coming up here fifteen minutes from now.
Bad news one person one in a visual in the
NFL that a lot of people disliked. Apparently he's not
that bad at all, so we will get to that
here fifteen minutes from now. Right now, though, we welcome
in the Daytona five hundred winner Michael McDowell with us

(22:12):
here on Fox Sports Radio. Michael Jonas knocks, Jeff Schwartz.
How are you man? I'm doing great? How are you guys?
We're good? First of all, what the hell is the
last forty hours been like for you? No sleep and uh,
just a just an unbelievable range of emotions, you know. Uh,
it's obviously so cool to win the Daytona five and

(22:35):
all the things that come with it, and you know,
you just go from that just raw overjoyed excitement just
don't even know how to express it, to just a
super grateful and thankful and just very humbling and then
you go into sleep that derivation and now you're you're
dragging a little bit. It's gonna be getting that energy

(22:59):
up today, for sure. I'm sure you dreamed about this
moment forever. Did it feel exactly like you thought it
would or hoped it would? It was even better? And
you know it's better, um, And I think what made
it better is just the journey to get here, you know,
in all the people that have helped you get here,

(23:20):
and you know, just there's so many critical moments in
your career where you know that that next opportunity or um,
you know, the next partner that allowed you to do
this and that, and you know, in motorsports, it's it's
so different than stick and ball sports, and so there's

(23:40):
so many people that help you get to this level
and and it's, um, you know, like it's a super
humbling to know that, you know, people made a lot
of sacrifice for you to have this opportunity. Michael McDowell
Daytona with us here on Fox Sports Radio, Jonas Knocks,
Jeff Schwartz in for Clay Travis here on out kicked
the coverage. So when did you realize I'm gonna win

(24:02):
the Daytona Because you're you're sitting, you're you're behind a
couple of cars. Then we see this fiery crash. I
know probably when you were dreaming about this as a kid,
I would imagine, you know, wire to wire winner, total domination. Uh,
you know, hand out the window because you got like
a forty car separation between you and number two as
you cross the finish line, and then it plays out

(24:23):
like this, When did you realize, oh my god, I'm
gonna win the Daytona five. You know, it's funny when
you dream as a kid, you're probably right that's what
it looks like. But as I've been as I've been
dreaming as an adult that has been in the sport
a long time of what it would look like, it
sure didn't look a lot like how I thought it
was going to play out. And and you know, I

(24:46):
had a plan, and plans are hard to come up
with it Daytona, they're hard to stick to you. Um.
But my my strategy, I should say, was to be
in that top three coming to the white flag and
and to be pushing some they to the lead. And
the reason that is is that, you know, just watching
these races over and over, very rarely is that the

(25:07):
leader that's gonna win the race coming to the white flag.
And I wanted to be in position that I could
push a fast card to get them side by side
and then make a move. And um, it didn't work
out exactly how I thought it was going to, but
it was pretty close. I was, I was hooked up
to Brad Kislowski's bumper. We had a big run on
Joey Logano. I knew he was going to make a move,

(25:27):
and he tried to make a move and Joey blocked
it and they got together and the seas parted and
I drove right through the middle, and you know, just
thankful to uh to be in that spot, you know,
coming to the white flag. And um, and and like
I said, I had a plan, and I felt like
we were executing that plan really well and and everything
went just right at the end. What makes it such

(25:49):
a tough track, especially lately, there's a lot more accidents lately,
a lot more crashes, a lot more lead changes at
the end of these races at Daytona. What makes it
such a difficult track, Well, I think that two things
that stand out to me in particular. You know, I've
been in in the Cup Series for thirteen years now,
and the cars at Daytona are harder to drive now

(26:11):
than ever. Um, They're just they're rough, they're they're very sketchy.
The cars move around a lot, which has made the racing, um,
you know, really exciting. And then the drivers are so
good and they're so aggressive, and I think that the aggression, um,
and the cars, you know, the cars are just so

(26:32):
trimmed out and the teams do such a good job
of trying to find every last ounce of speed that
the cars are hard to drive. And so when they're
hard to drive and hard to hang onto and you've
got people pushing on your bumpers the entire time, um,
you know there's there's bound to be an accident. And UM,
it's exciting racing and we all know what it is
when we go to Daytona. Um, and if you can

(26:54):
make it through those big crashes, you know, you have
a shot at it, but the aggression, you know, the
stays up the entire time, and that's why you see
so many accidents and but it's also why you see
great racing. Michael McDowell, Daytona five d winner joining us
here on Fox Sports Radio. Jonas knocks Jeff Schwartz in
for Clay Travis here on now kicked the coverage. So
I think it's always fascinating how did different people celebrate.

(27:18):
So there's a UFC fighter named Max Holloway, and he's
one of the best featherweight fighters, probably of all time.
Tradition for him after he after he wins a fight,
he always has cupcakes for whatever reason, that's just his thing.
So you win the Daytona five hundred point nine percent
of us, almost all of us listening here on Fox

(27:39):
Sports Fox Sports Radio right now, all across the country
will never get to the place that you got on
Sunday night into Monday morning. So what is the after party? Like?
How do you celebrate winning the Daytona five hundred after
all that went into just your preparation that week. Man,
this is going to really let you guys down. Then,
I'm sorry, but I want to be truthful with you.

(28:00):
You know, after I got done with you Victory Lane
and media, it was about to thirty in the morning. Um.
And then from there I went and saw, um, you know,
my guys they were going through tech and and tech
inspection is where they just make sure that your car
is not illegal and they measure every part piece. They
pulled the motor out and for me, you know, I

(28:21):
want to make sure that that thing passes tech because
you're not the winner until they say you're the winner. Um.
And so so I hung around during that tech process
till five thirty in the morning. Um. And so the
sun was coming up in Daytona Beach and um, and
I went to I Hop and I got a little breakfast,
and then I went to the I went to the

(28:42):
motor home and I took a quick shower, and I
talked to my wife and kids before they went to school,
and then I headed to the media center and started,
uh you know, started media day again. So how I
celebrated was was no sleep, I hot breakfast and watching
watching my car go through tech. Yeah. I celebrate my

(29:08):
I celebrate my victories with Omelet there you go. Well,
I celebrate everything with food. So I understand. So there
was it was a long and lengthy rain delay. We
saw drivers I think I think these were accurate tweets.
You know, we saw going to Panda Express, we saw
one at waffle house. Um, hey, like, how do you
get to leave and make it back in time? I

(29:29):
was like, I'm just shocked about that, but too, w
how did you spend your rain delay? Well, I don't.
I don't know how those guys did it either. I'm
always super nervous to leave the racetrack. I did not
gonna let me back in, you know, exact traffic. Yeah,
even if I was hungry, I'm not sure how to
left the facility. But you know, it was a lot

(29:49):
of rain, I'll say that. So you know, in our sport,
obviously being outside and and you got a race on
a dry race track, we know you know when you
get a downpour that it's going to be at least
two hours, maybe three hours, So we kind of know
the windows. Um, but I get super anxious that, you know,
I don't I don't want to miss miss a race.
Because I was outside the racetrack, it couldn't be a

(30:11):
back end. So, um, I think I had a peanut
butter sandwich in the motor home and a banana and um,
and so I didn't get any of the nice take out,
but I didn't leave the facility because that that makes
me nervous. Well, and plus who wants to eat fast food?
Before you got to sit in a car, man, I
would fall asleep. I swear to God, I try and
last little as possible when I've got to drive somewhere.

(30:34):
It's those twenty year old kids that are drinking all
the energy drinks they're doing it. That's that's true. That
that is a good point, all right, Michael, last one
before we let you go, Um, you need to do
me a favor because one of my Just just bear
with me on this, all right, because I'm really interested
about this. Michael mcdowald Daytona. How realistic is the movie
Days of Thunder? Uh? I mean, you know, there's there's

(30:58):
some Hollywood elements in to it, but yeah, that's one
of the greatest motorsports movies ever made. Uh Yeah, I
mean they just can't even recreate it. Nothing's been even
close to it. And it's been probably what twenty years? Yeah,
it's it's probably longer than that. I think it's closer
to thirty years. But I've always wondered that because there
are some people who spoke ill of it and said, well,

(31:20):
you know, that's not realistic and that's not how things
would go. But I've always wondered, all right, how I
want to ask a driver, how realistic is the movies?
You're saying it's it's as realistic as they could possibly
make it absolutely all right, Well good see see Jeff,
we accomplished it right now. We feel good. All right.
He is Michael McDowell, Daytona five winner, joining us here

(31:42):
on Fox Sports Radio. Get him on Twitter at Mick
Underscore Driver. Michael, Congratulations man, your life changed on Sunday
night into Monday morning, and I know you didn't get
to celebrate maybe the way some people thought you would,
but you'll be celebrating for the rest of your life.
You are a Daytona winner. We're happy for you. Seem
like a good dude, man. Congrats on all your success.

(32:03):
Thank you guys, Thanks for having me on Jonas Knocks.
Jeff Schwartz here on Fox Sports Radio. I gotta I
gotta say, man, if I panned express before I got
into a race car, I mean having attack while you're
driving doesn't yield the MSG. Man go to sleep. It's over, man,
It's yeah, it is over. I couldn't do it. I

(32:25):
don't know how people do. It's crazy. I can't eat
before shows, so I'm like, I just feel sluggish. I
feel like I just I don't I don't mean, I
don't know how they were doing. Men the need for
the bathroom eating to me, I'm not eating right now.
That that's not a problem what I'm doing video. The
problem is when you're driving in a car. I mean,
I just feel like that would be a little tough. Yeah,
it would be tough, all right. Jeff Schwartz Jonas knocks

(32:47):
in for Clay Travis. This is uh from the Farmer's
Insurance OutKick Studios. By the way, continue to send those
snow pictures into Jeff so he can live vicariously through you.
These pictures are bothering me. Yeah. Yeah, it's a lizzend.
It's not pretty out there. There's a lot of people
dealing with some some some difficult situations, and all you're
asking for is a couple inches of snow. But unfortunately

(33:08):
you can't have everything. Fox Sports Radio has the best
sports talk lineup in the nation. Catch all of our
shows at Fox Sports Radio dot com and within the

He's Jeff Schwartz. I'm Jonas Knox in for Clay Travis
here on Fox Sports Radio. Coming up in a little
over ten minutes from now here on fs ARE somebody

(33:31):
in the world of sports is really really piste off,
and I legitimately have no idea what they're upset about.
So we will hear from that individual coming up in
about ten minutes from now on Fox Sports Radio. I
don't I don't get it. By the way, Jeff, what
are you most passionate about? I mean something that when
you outside of family or whatever, something that when you
think about it, just really you get really excited about.

(33:55):
Probably a good pancake block. Yeah, goodum, Because I have
just discovered the guys in the back, Justin Cooper and
Roberto Flora is the thing that gets them most fired
up is the actress off the Queen's gambit. So that
was an interesting that's right. I'm just you know, I mean,

(34:17):
I thought it was I thought it was great. I
love the acting and I love the chess strategy. Apparently
a Justin Cooper strategy. Let something for the record, for
the record, Okay, for the record, that's c h E
s s. Okay, I knew exactly what I was saying.
I'm not falling into that bear trap. Here. I can

(34:40):
see you, Jonas if you look. Look, I'm talking about
the game. I'm talking about the board game, the strategy,
all of the back story. But apparently Justin Cooper and
Roberto Flora's big fans of other things in that show.
Just saying it's easy to watch. You know what, You've

(35:00):
got a great point, my friend, you well fired up
tonight after what I'll come downstairs and be like, maybe
not maybe just by yourself maybe, and I'll watch for
other reasons. Well, just just be careful if you're not

(35:22):
asked a few questions that during that show. It's a
that's a great you know, women empowerment. It's a great
show to watch with your significant other. Yeah, I'm sure
that that's that's the question that will be asked during
that you know, I'll just put it in this way.
You will be asked, do you think she's pretty? Doesn't
my life doesn't care if I say yes? All right,

(35:42):
Well I'm just letting you know your answer is gonna
be yes ahead of time. Just yeah, it's gonna be
But it's a really good show, a very good show. Uh.
And she's a fantastic actress. Um. All right. So Jeff
Schwartz Matt Stafford was talking and doing an interview. And
I always think this is funny because there are certain
people in sports, like celebrities, that you hear like, oh,

(36:04):
they have a bad reputation or people don't like And
I always think it's funny because what's the proof, all right,
why don't you like him? Because because you've heard bad
things about him? And Matt Patricia is one of those
guys that a lot of people have just buried. And
I don't know if it's the Patriot thing or whatever
the case, maybe, but you know, he was he was
sort of mocked his time in Detroit. It didn't work

(36:25):
out there, and now he's going back to Detroit. And
some people assume that because Matt Stafford didn't want to
play for the Patriots or he's back in with New England.
Patricia is that is because he didn't want to be
around Matt Patricia anymore. And so Matt Stafford talked with
the Detroit Free Press, and he said we had a
good relationship. No matter what anybody says, um he complimented him.
He says he has an unbelievable mind. I could go

(36:47):
to him and talk with him about anything. He could
call me, So their relationship was good. But I think
this kind of goes against what some people perceived as
Stafford didn't want to go to New England because Matt
Patricia was there. That's funny, hundred percent why he didn't
want to go. He's just not going to say that
out loud, Okay, But I would think that he doesn't
want to go to New England because they're not a
good team, right Well, I mean that's that's probably true

(37:10):
as well. But I think that Patricia thing probably has
a role in as well. I mean I think why
would he throw him under the bus like that. Probably
there's no reason to do that publicly, but I definitely
that plays a role in it. Yes,
