(00:21):
you're listening to Fox Sports Radio. Oh, man, can't you
just picture Brady Quinn at the squat rack Dublin Coffman
High School back of the day you got like five
or six plates on you and some of the other
meat heads at Dublin Kaufman High Just I was, I

(00:41):
was picturing more of Blacksburg, Virginia and Votzek playing this
playing Saleman is their song their Oh I didn't know that.
So so at votech they play that. Because we were
talking last week about just different songs from around What
are you doing? What do they do it? Not to name?
They have like a song they go to. Is it

(01:02):
Dropkick Murphy's or something? No, I think it's changed over time.
It's I'm not even sure what it is now. I mean, honestly,
I was in the locker room before we came out,
So that's a good point. Yeah, It's like, how would
I know what we run onto the field to. Okay, listen,
I hear you, man, Yeah, I know, listen, you don't
have to tell me. I understand how it works, you know,
being in the locker room and that when all this

(01:23):
tid I think, so yeah, yeah, I mean, do you
think you and I know I know what the intro
is to this show because you and I are in
the locker room getting ready to come out, like and
that's what's the red lighters on. That's when we enter
the room. We entered the curtain together. Yeah, you know,
we're just we're getting ready, like two guys just you know,
sitting sitting down, getting ready. It's it's kind of like
that time Michael Beasley was rubbing his teammates need and

(01:45):
thought it was his own. It's kind of like that,
you know. Sometimes we're getting ready, were getting ready to go.
We're so dialed in. Oh man, I mean all right,
so now we're gonna have to explain that story later
at the hour. Alright, So so make a mental out
to that rubbing the wrong knee. We'll get to that
here coming up later on this hour on Fox Model.

(02:08):
He's great, man. A lot going on there with Michael Beasley. Um, alright,
so not not a lot going on. Yeah, well listen listen.
I don't I don't know what bong sound effects have
to do with Michael Beasley. I think that's an unfair
representation of the guy. Pretty accurate. It's well, look, I mean,
this is the thing about this show. You and I

(02:28):
prepare for this show, We get ready to go, we
come out, we enter the room, and then all of
a sudden, it takes one segment in before we get
off the rails, and we start talking about a pothead
rubbed the wrong knee thinking it was his own. Um,
it's just bizarre. Here's what I don't know is I've
never smoked weed before in my life, So, like you,

(02:51):
I'm sure people challenge me that. I'm serious, I never have,
So I don't know if that's due to him being
so high he's he's not realized he gets his own knee,
or if that was the cover for him wanting to
rub his teammates. Either way, I'm still caffled by all
of it. But the video of it is absolutely amazing.

(03:13):
To watch him be surprised when his teammate looks at him,
is like, what are you doing that's not your knee
and he's like, oh my bad, yeah, like like like
what do you do? Like when you And let's go
live to our resident rumored rumored fan of the cannabis,
or as some would say, the hippie lettuce uh, justin

(03:35):
Cooper to find out if this is a possibility with
Michael Beasley rubbing the wrong knee thinking it was his
own but it turned out it was a teammate. Is
just a side effect? Is this a side effect from
from the green Wolf? As they say? Well, for so,
I don't think I've ever heard anybody called the green Wolf. Uh,
but I can tell you it's it's no it's no secret.

(03:59):
I smoked a lot of weed in my lifetime. Um,
I have never been so high to the point where
I thought someone else's limb was mine. So I don't
know what was going on there. Were you able to
pass it around to the to the fellows, We're able

(04:20):
to pass it around to the fells just so they
can see the facial expression of I'm not sure that
who the teammate was next to him, but more of
Michael Beasley and sheer like shock that it wasn't his
own knee. Like there's no way just in your body
just goes numb at that point. No, I've I've never
a lot of sensation in my in my limbs. Uh,

(04:41):
it's just it's it's a weird. You know, maybe maybe
you weren't doing it right. I mean, and let's let's
be honest here. I mean, Coop is a is a superstar.
I mean, you know, he's still getting checks from the
movie Liar, liar, so he can afford the good stuff,
you know, the stuff that doesn't make you rub somebody's
limp him thinking as your own. So I think he

(05:02):
gets the quality stuff here. And we're not we're not
talking about, you know, some of this nickel and dime
material we got happening. I mean, I just they're like
the moment in which Beasley discovers that it was actually
the wrong knee is the one moment I actually want
to be inside his mind. All right, So, um, we
will we will have the explanation on that whole story

(05:23):
coming up later on of the hour. But Brady Quinn,
we have got ourselves some bad blood in the NFL. Uh.
The Michael Thomas Saints relationship continues to just fall apart
at the seams. A report that came out over the weekend.
This according to Jeff Duncan of nola dot com, that

(05:45):
Michael Thomas ignored multiple calls from the training staff and
Sean Payton, the coach, and anybody within the organization. He
basically ghosted them for like three months, just decide, yeah,
I don't want to talk to you guys. Um. There
had been rumblings that there were some issues that maybe
him and his his agent had kicked the tires on
potential trades last season, that that was something that they would,

(06:08):
you know, look into our last offseason rather, and then
they get into last year. He's a little bit banged up,
he has a down year because of it, and then
he elects to wait on having the surgery. So now
he's gonna have to miss the start of the season
because he waited too long to have the surgery. With
Sean Payton and the Satra piste off about but here
we are, no Drew Brees. It's a brand new quarterback era,

(06:31):
and Michael Thomas apparently it doesn't want any part of
the organization. I feel like the running was on the
wall a little bit last year with how he handled
some things and look, Michael Thomas went through a stretch
for the first what four years of his career, he
cough for over a thousand yards and and really in
in nineteen and eighteen, you'd be hard pressed not to

(06:52):
say he wasn't the best or one of the best
wide receivers in the NFL in regards to production. I
think what he saw though last year, as as Drew
Brees wound down the final year of his career, was
a glimpse of what life could be like without Drew
and what this offense is gonna transition to if it's

(07:13):
Taysom Hill, and maybe even in practice, what this offense
made look like with Jamis Winston. And I think he's
looking at it in his mind saying, man, I don't
know if if I want to get out of here,
I don't know that I'll ever have a better chance,
because if I continue to stay here, my stats and

(07:34):
productivity are gonna go down. We're not gonna throw the
football as much as we have. I mean, thinking about this,
two years ago, he was targeted. Think about this targeted
a hundred and eighty five times. So go go through
just think about this for a second. If you're throwing

(07:54):
the football a lot in the NFL. You're gonna have
in an NFL season, what five six hundred attempts maybe,
I mean you're talking about darn near a third of
the passing attempts of the quarterback or going to that
one specific player and and and look, maybe more teams
should do that. When you've got a number one wide

(08:14):
receiver like Michael Thomas and there's really not much else
but besides Alvin Kimara, that would make you say, like
that's who else we should target all the time. But
but the truth of the matter is, I think he
looks at it and goes, I don't think it's gonna
get any better for me, Like I'm not gonna get
the ball thrown my way that much more now moving forward.
So if that's the case, I should start looking for

(08:36):
some other places to go. And he's already under contract.
He s he signed it a good deal, and so
he's he's got the ability, I think, between injuries and
then playing these sorts of games to tell Sean paid
to the club like hey man, I'm disgruntled. Move on
from me and exercise some of that that player empowerment
that we're seeing more players utilized right now. So I

(08:57):
just think he's seen enough of what the future looks like.
He's like, I need to be somewhere else, Like this
isn't good for my career at this point. His numbers
in nineteen were stupid. Hun he had a hundred forty
nine catches over seventeen hundred yards receiving. Uh Like at
some I mean, look, and I get it he maybe
he doesn't get along with Sean Payton or whatever, but

(09:19):
it's like, can does anybody like tap him on the
shoulder and said, hey, man, you've had a pretty good here,
just so you know, like there's there's a lot of
there's a lot of wide receivers around the NFL that
would love the opportunity to catch that many footballs for
that much productivity. He's five years into his career. He's
already halfway to a thousand catches. I mean, come on, man,
Like that's I just wonder how this thing is gonna go.

(09:40):
And so that's the other side of the conversation with
Michael Thomas, where I look at him, I go, I
don't know, man, grass isn't always greener, Like you're in
a good organization, you know, they want to win that
you've been closed, you've been in playoffs. You know, if
he looks at trying to go somewhere else just so
that they can throw him the football more, then maybe
he's anticipating them doing if it's stays some hill or

(10:01):
even being able to give him the football, bet like
more and better. Um, if it's Jamis Swiss and he
might say, what's it's still less than what I have
with Drew, You're missing out on the fact that Sean
Payne's one of the best play calls in the league.
And this is still an organization that if these two
guys aren't it, or or if ian book and if
they give him a shot and he's not it, they'll
go find that guy. Like they're not gonna sit around

(10:23):
on their hands and not trying to make some moves,
especially with what was rumored went on the past off
season or past couple off seasons with who they were
trying to recruit. So the grass isn't always greener. And
that's where if you look at him going somewhere else,
he might not have the same productivity and and he
might regret making some of the decisions that he's making
right now. Yeah, it's that'll be This is gonna be

(10:45):
a wild situation to check out. And I'm sure Sean
Payton will keep his mouth shut when it comes to
all this whole thing. He's he's been known to keep
his mouth shut with things like this. It is Brady
Quinn Jonas Knox here, I'll kick the coverage Fox Sports
Radio coming up in fifteen minutes from now here on
fs ARE. We are going to get to uh some
more details and one of the more bizarre moments in
the world of sports. It really cop Brady Quinn's I.

(11:06):
Uh and we're still trying to get some answers here,
but we do have a little bit more details on that.
We'll get to that here fifteen minutes from now on
fs ARE. Darius Leonard got paid. Huh. It was only
a matter of time because he was gonna be the
next guy up. But but they lock him up. Uh.
Now they've got, you know, Quentin Nelson. Eventually he's going
to get a long term contract extension and uh and
away we go. The Indianapolis Colts just building away hell

(11:29):
of a roster there, Brady quinnal only they had a
quarterback about well, if they had a quarterback that was healthy,
and I think they're hoping Carson Wentz will be that guy. Uh.
It's always funny watching press conferences for players that you
know they want to be in another destination. And this
obviously relates to Nick Foles, who um. I mean, look,

(11:49):
he went out there, sat his piece, talked about just
keep trying to dice things up as the third stringer,
and about bid in that position before. That's the kind
of the mindset you have to have, is because you
believe you can play at that point, no one else
does or or at least they're not willing to give
you that shot less it's due to injury. It's so
there's a there's a window, and there's a coach that

(12:10):
he's had success within, Frank Reich, and he kind of
said his piece last week about you know, his relationship
with Frank and everything else. I just I don't think
the Colts would ever do that to Carson Wentz. I
I don't. I think there's too much there. They know
the circus that would bring and as much as Frank
Reich and Nick Foles might have a great relationship, there's

(12:31):
no way they would bring in him to start any
amount of games, or even to be there, even as
well as those two might have handled it while they're
there together, there's no way they're willing to do that.
I think they're they're hoping that Carson Wentz is gonna
be in their week one or week two, and if
he's not, they're willing to sacrifice a couple of games

(12:52):
instead of sacrificing maybe that everything they gave up for
Carson Wentz in a trade by bringing in Nick Foles
and throwing that that uh, that circus all right back
into his lap, just in a different city. Well, listen,
I happen to know when Carson Wentz will be returning.
Nobody else knows. I happen to know, and I will
give you that answer coming up in the next hour

(13:13):
here on Fox Sports Radio. How about that? How about
that I know coming back? Yeah, I hope there's a
betting angle to it, because because I I do think
there's gonna be a chance to to lay some money
on that. So I hope there's a betting angle on
what you're going to say. Well, listen, I mean there's
a betting angle on everything nowadays. I mean, welcome to
the one when several years ago you couldn't have a
fantasy football convention in Las Vegas if you're Tony Romo,

(13:36):
because the NFL would get mad at you. But now
Wrigley Field, like six years ago now, But I'm just saying, well,
it's the only one I can think of at the time.
And I'm just now we've got wrigley Field. Wrigley Field
is now putting a sports book in I got an idea,
wrigley Field, how about you put a good baseball team
in Well, when when's that going to happen? And we're
gonna do that? Or you were going to continue to

(13:58):
put a sports book in space? Can I ask this question?
Can I ask this question? If the sports book doesn't perform,
they just gonna the sports book away. That's how it works.
But don't worry, you know, as long as as long
as they got that one man, they're gonna milk that
one World Series for the next seventy five years. I'm

(14:18):
telling people right now, that is a sinking ship. All right.
There's water in the boat and if you stay on,
you're an idiot. All right. They are never winning another
World Series. Book it market here and and actually take
this audio, send it to Icy Hot takes or whatever
that Twitter account is. The Chicago Cubs will never win
another World Series. You you heard it here right now,

(14:39):
August nine. The Chicago Cubs will never win another World
Series in the history of the franchise. I actually like
this proclamation you're making because I mean, I don't know
how much longer we're gonna be on this planet. Who
has any idea? And I know you, and so you're
factoring into that that the Cubs we'll probably not win

(15:00):
another one. Yeah, within the next let's say, what are
we here a hundred years or we hear more than
like longer than on Earth. But you're factoring into the
science and everything else that encompasses us, like like all
just moving to Marris like you are factoring that into
that decision right there. Yeah, it's over, it's and it's
not happening. So I mean, look, if you got to
see them when it win a World Series, congratulations. Uh

(15:22):
you know, if if if you if you had a child,
a small child who is not around in sixteen that
now is and and they're gonna be growing up to
be a Cub fan. Just set the expectations right, just
pull them aside and said, hey, What's who's your favorite
baseball team? The Chicago Cubs. Okay, we'll let Daddy tell
you a little story. Here's the story about a franchise
that you're never going to see win a World Series.

(15:43):
So so you've got a couple of choices here. You
can go across town and become a White Sox fan,
or you can you can go be a fan of
of the Dodgers, or be a fan of of of
the Yankees or some of these other organizations that actually
willing to spend money and not claim that they're oaken suffering.
Yet they're putting in a sports book inside the stadium.

(16:05):
What an embarrassment. All right, let's get into this so
quickly here. Uh, speaking of emotional I just wanted to
give you a moment to um, you know, just sort
of you know, express how heartbroken you are that the
Olympics are no longer around. I just wanted to know, uh,
you know, it's really really bummed out that the Olympics
are no longer with us. Here, um, Brady Quinn, we

(16:25):
say bye bye to the Olympics. It's over. And I
just wanted to know emotionally how you're handling it today.
Knowing that we're not gonna have any more Olympics. I mean, look,
I'm doing fine. I do enjoy the Olympics. I'm one
of those people who will watch pretty much anything and
and try to support our country. Um, I'm trying to
think that. I think one of the events I was
watching that group synchronized swimming or whatever it is. I'll

(16:47):
be honest with you, man, I was. I was impressed.
I was. I was. I was thinking to myself, one,
how long they have to hold their breath underwater while
they're doing some of this? How long it takes? Which
at one point during the broadcast, basically Russia, who competed
as r OC you know, for this Olympics, and they
actually ended up winning the women's synchronized swimming event by

(17:09):
a long shot, like they're they're by far and away
the best to do it in the past like two decades.
But they said one of the women of the group
literally left her child for three d days to go
trained for it. And I was like, yeah, there's I
don't I don't think anyone is going to be able
to compete with that sort of dedication. Uh, and then

(17:30):
you you watch them go out there compete and you go, Okay,
I get it. They're they're literally perfect the way they
do this, but they're willing to sacrifice more than you are. Okay,
just remember that every time you think about that that
Russian synchronized swimming team that won gold. They're willing to
go further lengths than you are, pretty much to do
anything in life. Did she have to say of the

(17:51):
matter or was she uh, you know, because that's the
question that I don't know, but I'll say this much.
They were incredib bole. I mean, they literally are up
completely upside down, like moving laterally doing these leg kicks
in unison. And I don't know how much time that
takes to practice of the pool, but I would imagine
it takes plenty of days, plenty of hours in prep.

(18:13):
But it was, it was really I was. I was
watching the thing to myself like, this is not easy,
you know, and and all that all those you know,
unique sports go out the window now that the Olympics
are over. Yeah, And also I would I would wonder
as well to um at at some point. I mean,
if you haven't seen the show the Netflix special Icarus,
watch Netflix Special Icarus because there are some details about

(18:36):
the rushing, doping and things like that. They go along
with it. And I'm not trying to accuse synchronized swimming
and doping. I don't know if if you know p
d s would help a synchronized swimmer, that seems like
something that would be more up you reality that you
can break down, Brady Quinn. I'm just saying. I mean,
you know, if you've seen if you've seen Charis the documentary,
a lot of that stuff was going on back in
the day. I just think what happened with like poort

(18:56):
of you know, sports performance and answering drugs, is they've
ava now where you get sports that you wouldn't suspect
taking them like like golfers for example, Like people wouldn't
suspect it. But it's kind of a grind when you
look at their tour and everything they have to do,
like they they need more of like an endurance performance
the dancing drug. But I'm sure there's you know, stuff
out there like someone's doing something. But yeah, I wouldn't

(19:19):
put it past these sick and ized swimmers. I would.
I would not put it past them. This this is
OutKick the coverage. We'll call it a little over ten
minutes from now here on fs ARE, UM, I have
identified when Carson Wentz will return. I figured it out,
and everybody else is asking the question, way, when's he

(19:39):
gonna come back? When's Carson gonna come back? I've already
figured this out. I will give you the the big
reveal coming up a little over ten minutes from now
on Fox Sports Radio. How about that, Brainy Quinn. I
don't know if it was rubbing your knee cap or what,
but I feel like I have a sense of of
what direction you're going and where this is gonna end up.
I'll just it. Yeah, And there is an opportunity, you know,
if people are out there and they're looking for you know,

(20:01):
if they missed if they're like Brady Quint and they
missed the Olympics as much as you do and are
emotional about it, and you're looking for another way that
you can make some money. This this feels like a
a perfect opportunity here. So we will get to that
here coming up in about ten minutes from now on
Fox Sports Radio. The Hall of Fame was over the
weekend in Canton, Ohio. UM. You had obviously, you know,

(20:23):
Star studded through and through but the big star and
there's always one guy who's who leads the class. I
guess you, I guess you would call it. And this
year it was Peyton Manning, Um, who was obviously a
first ballot Hall of Famer. Tom Brady was in attendance
to support Peyton Manning. The two of them are quote
unquote friends, although you know, I doubt the validity of

(20:47):
all that, but nonetheless, here was I mean, come of like,
you know, you know, it feels like, you know, Tom
Brady's taking some shots and uh, you know, like he's
you know, he's taking a good few digs at the Peyton.
I think he's got a lot of respect. Yeah, I
really do. I I don't see it the same way
you do. I know, you want to create enemies out
of everyone. I actually think these two respect one another.

(21:10):
They are fierce competitors, and I don't think they love
one another or maybe even like each other, but there's
a cordial nous to the relationship and there's respect. Yeah. Um.
And so Payton Manning talked about Tom Brady. Here was
a little bit from my Manning's Hall of Fame speech,
and speaking of rivals, my good friend Tom Brady is
here tonight. By the time he's inducted, By the time

(21:48):
Tom Brady is inducted in his first year of eligibility
in the year two thousand thirty five, you'll only have
time to post his acceptance speech on his Instagram account.
By the way, I love that Brady's getting me a
w W E heel treatment getting booed by fans and
can't know how what the hell do you do to

(22:09):
can't in Ohio? No, no, no, no. It's an assortment
of fans like you've got mostly Colts and Denver Broncos
fans who are there to see Peyton and Pittsburgh Steelers
fans who are there to see Troy Paula. And so
when you start adding it up, there's a lot of
a f C a FC team fans who are not
very excited about Tom Brady who dominated them for such
a long period of time. That's why the booze come,

(22:31):
even though there should be a little more respect for
but Payton was phenomenal, like even from the get go,
just talking about how you know they had shortened the
amount of time that each had to speak about their
entire football career and that that was all due to
the fact that ray Lewis just finished his two thousand
eight team in duction production speech. I mean, he had
some classic one liners time and time again, but he

(22:52):
also talked about the game of football and just where
it's at, where it needs to be, and where it's
headed in and I just listening to him him, I
looked at him and thoughts to myself, Dude, this guy
should be the commissioner of the NFL. He really should be.
I mean, when it's when it's all said and done,
you know, he understands the importance of football. I think

(23:12):
in society, he understands the importance of the game, safety,
everything that goes along with it. And I just I
think it comes down to two things. Whether or not
he wants to do it, because you know, he's going
to be able to make a ton of money outside
of you know, outside of football or even within football
and other capacities. And then I think it's it's whether

(23:35):
he you know, whether or not he wants to be
beholden to thirty one owners and the Green Bay Packers
board or Mark Murphy if you will. Like That's the
other thing is as much as Roger Goodell gets paid,
its son and we all and everyone gives him a
hard time. The NFL has continue to grow. They've done
a good job. He's done a good job for the owners,
and so he has compensated well. But at the same time, man,

(23:59):
come on, like, it's it's got to be tough to
have thirty two different bosses, some of which I'm sure
an absolute pain in the ask to deal with. Yeah,
and that's a miserable job. I'm good here. I don't
want I don't want no part of that job. It
was like we were talking to hold. Do you know
how much he gets paid? Who rog? Yeah? I think
at last I saw he got god was it thirty

(24:22):
million a year. It's like forty million a year. Oh
my god. He gets the least a million from each team.
Then on top of that there's bonuses other thing. Jesus,
I'll take it. I now that we think about it,
I don't take that. That's fine, that that works here. Yeah,
I just so when he when he comes to the
Fox retreat, you know, he comes to speak to everyone
all that, but yeah, there's a security detail that follows

(24:44):
him around. And I was thinking to myself, like, dude,
you're in a safe place, like if someone tries to
try you, like, you've got people who would stand up
for you here, and so there's not nothing's gonna happen.
And maybe he's worried about some crazy fan or someone
doing something. But I was always thought it was kind
of odd because I'm like, you know, there's security here
for us too, but we don't need to be like,

(25:05):
you know, carried around by security. But then I thought, oh, yeah,
he's like uber uber rich. We're like he could he
needs security because he makes that much money and someone
might just try to kidnap him and then hold him
for ransom. That's why he needs security. Yeah, that's a
good point. And by the way, he's I think he's
a big dude. Correct him. Stop. I mean, you know,

(25:26):
if somebody tries him, they're gonna have to, you know,
deal with it. I mean, remember I remember the video
of him running the forty yard dash inside the NFL offices.
I mean, you know, I mean it's not like it's
not like you're dealing with uh, you know, not not
to pick on Gary Bettman from the NHL, but you're
not dealing with that. I mean, this is this is
a legitimate guy here, This is this is Roger Goodell.
I feel like he could handle himself, throw, throw his

(25:47):
hands a little bit, you know. I mean, yeah, he
used to play. He's not a small guy, but any
means yeah. Yeah. So so for that kind of money, yes,
I'll take the job. Absolutely take the job. When it
comes to Peyton Manning, I think people expected that he
was just gonna all of a sudden after he was
retired have a plan B like that he was gonna
be something like we know Tom Brady, when Tom Brady

(26:07):
decided to retire, He's he's been building towards post retirement
all these years, like so, so he continues to push
TV twelve and and that's gonna be where I think
he channels his energy post NFL career, because he's already
started to do it now. I think the assumption was
because Peyton Manning was so detail oriented and because everything
was so structured with him. Oh, he's for sure going

(26:30):
to have a plan after he retires. And it feels like,
and I know he's got this alternate, you know, Monday
night football telecast that he's gonna be doing with his brother,
Eli Manning. But it feels like Peyton retired and then
just thought I'll figure something out. Like I mean, there
were there were conversations about him. Remember the Tennessee job
opened up, and there were some people saying, oh, what

(26:51):
about Peyton Manning as a coach. There's been broadcasting opportunities
elsewhere to be a full time broadcaster. He hasn't taken
any of those. He hasn't gotten into coaching. There's been
rumblings about, you know, front office work. He hasn't done
that yet. I just think if he probably got done
with his NFL career and said, why do I need
to rush to come up with a plan B, and
he's just kind of feeling his way out. I don't

(27:12):
know if commissioner is something he wants to be involved in,
but I do feel like at some point he's gonna
have the h to get back in the game and
some capacity. It's one of two things. Either he knows
exactly what he wants and it's not the right time,
or he has a maneuver to get that spot yet
or uh, he's he's still just kind of playing and
slow trying to figure it out, and which I think

(27:35):
both both of those things are fair. And I think
as you as you look at what he's gonna be
doing on Monday night football with Eli. And then you
look at like the game show that he did. I'm
not sure if you saw that when they kind of
penned colleges up against one another and they you know,
have based you know, basically it's almost like a family
feud type format something about that. Yeah, and Cooper Manning
does that with him, so, you know, I don't know

(27:57):
if he just wants to work with his brothers and
have fun kind of lay back, can not have to
do too much, or if he is still figuring out
whether he wants to do broadcasting or he wants to
get involved with the team. Whatever the case may be,
he's gonna be fantastic at it. He's gotta wit, he's
got a humor, he's smart, and he's He's the type
of guy that prepares so much and so overboard what

(28:17):
he will know you before he meets you. He will
know everything about you. Like He's the guy that I
think does the best job of taking his playbook from
football with him to whatever he does and wherever he goes.
He just he understands his opponents, he understands the situations.
He's the type of guy that would be a great
ambassador for football, which is why again I feel like

(28:39):
he would be awesome as commissioner of the NFL. But
if he ever did become that, it would also be it.
It'd be tough to see him go to that side
because that's the other side of the negotiations for for
players and for former players. And I know there's guys
like Torony Vincent, who obviously has no problem doing that,
but there's others who have done that too. But he

(29:00):
would be a great ambassador that I think players would respect,
h owners would respect, but maybe they wouldn't want him
in that position because they think his allegiance would be
to players too much and and not to the interests
of the NFL owners. When did you know you wanted
to get into broadcasting after your career was over? When
did you are you serious? I didn't like. I got

(29:22):
released in Dolphins and from the Miami Dolphins in training
camp the next week, I was in a broadcast booth.
Like it wasn't there wasn't a lot of time to
think about all this. You know, I've got a broadcast
boot camp, and while I was recovering from a back surgery,
I was like oh, maybe this is something I want
to do. And then I started, you know, I got
invited to to go into training camp with the Dolphins.
I was like, yeah, I'm gonna do that, and so yeah,

(29:43):
it all happened in the snap of finger and then
I kind of, you know, kept reevaluating, reevaluating every year
in the off season after I got done broadcasting. And
now it's become, you know, something that I've I've learned
to enjoy to stay around the game. You know, do
you have a team that you work with, you know, Matt, Reggie,
Bob Stoops, Rob Stone, like that crew that I get
to work with. It becomes a lot of fun when

(30:06):
you start to find that next team, that next chapter.
And I just I don't know that Payton's found it yet,
or maybe he has and he's just waiting to kind
of reveal what that is. Listen, you can have all
the fun if you want to them, and you can
brag about it on social media the big new boys
and travel in the country and all all the selfies
and all that stuff. But but but you come home
to me every week, pal, every week. You come home

(30:28):
every every week about it. It used to be every
weekend now it's every week, is that? Yeah? Listen, I
mean it just it depends. I mean, who knows. I mean,
you know, we could, we could, we could go back
to Sundays. We could, you know, keep doing this for
a little while longer. But you know it just it
it feels good to know where I stand in the
pecking order. I don't need I don't need all the

(30:48):
glitz and glamour. I don't need all the all the
you know, pictures on social media. We we know, we
know what your priority is. It's this show, it's sports
talk radio. I get it. Yeah, it makes all the
sense in the world. I mean, you know it just
people learn what they're going to do after their post
career at different times, and you, you know, discovered what
you were gonna do while you were at with the

(31:09):
Miami Dolphins and Andy Quinn. Here we go. Yeah. I
was just gonna let you know that Discovery Match is
all the cash back year and your credit card at
the end of your first year. It's amazing because discovers
accepted at places in the US to take credit cards.

(31:33):
didn't get you almost did between the clock and the
conversation that that was. That was good. That was like
that was like a last second held manh yeah, thats
uh yeah, just you know, but hey, you figured it
out and you were one of the there was there
was I saw this article came out. Um And I
don't know if you consider this an insult or not,
but sure barrets all right, Barrett. Sports media it's a

(31:58):
you know, they cover sports media as sports radio, television, etcetera, etcetera.
They did a poll with a bunch of sports radio
television personalities and they asked him who's the next big
rising star in the world of sports radio or beyond?
Um And I'll let you know a couple of things.
Number One, UM, I definitely was not listed on their

(32:22):
not even not even close to being mentioned. And that's
with you know, a fellow Fox Sports Radio family members
who were who were asked the question who couldn't even
give us a little bit of love? But you, my friend,
were mentioned in the others category like others receiving votes
other possibility, so at least you were mentioned there is
a rising star in the sports broadcasting world. So you

(32:44):
gotta feel good. You know what you can do. You
can you could take that, take that article. I want
you to print it out, all right, No, no, I'm serious.
I want you to print it out. I want you
to crumble it up that I want you to open
it back up and then crumbled up again. Okay, open
it back up, now back up again, open it back up,
crumbled again, then open it back up. Okay. Now what

(33:05):
you've done is you've softened up that paper so you
can wipe your ass with it. Here. That's unbelievable. Unbelievable.
You're gonna attack. Uh, you know the Barrett Sports media
like that? Now they are they are friends of Fox
Sports Radio. They've done it. They've been very very supportive.
And and all we're saying here is how about given

(33:26):
a Brady Quinn and I some love. That's all we're saying.
We just we would like at I'm not saying that.
You're saying that I don't care in all fairness to you,
though we we did. I don't think we were able
to work together until a couple of years after I
got done playing. But but it's been awesome, man, it
really has been. Uh, if we end up getting fired
after the show today. I just want you to know
a couple of things. I appreciate you your hard work

(33:47):
and have fire. Yeah, happy man, Thank you. I appreciate
Happy birthday to you as well. All Right, Brady Quinn
Jonas knocks it's kick the coverage here of Fox Sports Radio.
Coming up next. I've identified when Carson Wentz is going
to return. I will give you the big veal here
on Fox Sports Trading. L bear with us here. It's
worth the wait. We we need. I need full time
for this because there's a there's some layers to it

(34:09):
that I think you're gonna makes some sense. Well, you
need full time for it, you know, not not that
Carson Weinstein's full time for recuperation from this injury, right,
but you do. You need to explain the thought process
behind what you're going to say. I pulled back the
curtains a little bit, saw what was happening, rubbed that knee.
I'm excited for I really am. Listen. I can't wait

(34:31):
for it as well either. But we were talking before
the weekend on Friday just about college football returning training camps.
A players camp started, man, But by the way, how
sore those guys right now, Um, they're pretty sore. It's
not like it used to be. You know, they don't
hit as much as they used to. I mean, look,

(34:53):
I went to you know, I was in college in
two thousand and three. I think we still had at
that point like two a day one of days at least.
Uh Um, you know where you're where you're hitting, and
you're banging like. There wasn't any limitations back then quite
as much as what there are now, So it's different.
They're gonna be sore. I think the one thing that
in saying that, the one thing I noticed where teams

(35:15):
adjusted to when you can't have as many two padded
practices in one day anymore. Now, the one practice that
you have are that much more intense. You know, they
expect more hitting, they expect more more intensity from it
because you only got one that day. Anyway, you know
that the next practice quote unquote is usually a walk
through some sorts. So um, it's they're gonna be sore.

(35:35):
I mean usually there's that acclamation period for a day
or so or a couple of days where you don't
then you get into full paths and that's where you
see who's really uppot and who's not because you're a
little sore, a little tired. And you get some guys
who are absolute maniacs that their whole intent in life
is to make the man across from them feel pain.
And those that type of football players that I absolutely love.

(35:57):
And by the way, we should mention obviously a condolen
to this to the family of Bobby Bowden who passed
away over the weekend at the age of ninety one. Um,
you know that this was, you know expected. I think
Bobby Bowden had, you know, released a statement a couple
of weeks ago. Uh, just you know, knowing that you
know the end was near, just based on where he
was at health wise. But he's one of those guys

(36:20):
that growing up a fan of college football, it's one
of the names that was most recognizable. Like you just
I can recall watching Florida State Miami games and they
had that great rivalry back in the day, and it
looks you live in Florida. It's it's still a rivalry,
it's just it's not quite the same, Like it's it's
not the same as it was. But I just remember

(36:41):
Bobby Bowden always on the sidelines and just the the
image in my mind is one of the wide right
or wide left kicks that Florida State missed and Bobby
Bowden with his hands on his hips looking around, going
you gotta be kidding me again, Like I just I
could still picture that. One of the all time legends
from from years gone by in college football, Bobby ban

(37:04):
arguably made, arguably made uh Florida State kind of what
it is, you know with his record. I mean, he
was absolutely phenomenal. I believe we went two national championship
chips uh twelve A C C championships. He's in the
College Football Hall of Fame. So gave us a good
ass whopping back in two thousand and three in South Bend.
So I'll never forget that. I think Carthonso Thorpe is

(37:27):
still catching passes uh back in Notre Dame Stadium, which,
mind you, I remember over the course of my time there,
there was like three different wide receivers that set like
a single game record for receiving yards during their time there.
It was like I think at first it was like
crotonso Thorpe in that game, which was the only game
I got to play against Florida State in two thousand three,

(37:49):
like a lot of Irish fans remember two thousand two
when they went down to Tallahassee and upset them. But
two thousand three was it was my true freshman year
and we got goose egged. But part of it was
the fact that we kept going for fourth down, like
inside the five, inside the ten, and we didn't convert
on any of them. So it was it was a
good old ass kicking. But forpe, I think like a

(38:11):
record that day for most yards Taylor stubble Field from
Purdue he did eventually one day, and then I think
Kim next did for you and see at one point,
like three different times, three different years, there was like
a wide receiver who just absolutely went off in South Ben.
But yeah, but r R P to Bobby A. Bouten
though he was, he was a legend. He made Florida State.
What it was. I think what you and I both

(38:32):
remember it, you know, as you know, being um and
and it's sad, you know, you you lose a great
leader of men, which is what Bobby Bowden was. Yeah,
So so again thoughts and prayers to the family about
Bobby Bowden. This is outkicked the coverage. Hey, it's Ben

my trusty sidekick David Gascon. Would mean a lot to

We are going to have the scraps things in the
world of sports we have not had a chance to
get to, so we'll have that for here. And one
of these stories in the scraps uh is uh is
maybe the most competitive move I've ever seen uh in

(39:38):
a sporting event. You, Mr Competitive, I don't even know
if you would pull this, Brady. I would not do
something like this. I do. I do respect the competitive spirit.
I mean what we'll get into it. I'll leave it
at that, but I personally I don't think I could
ever do something like that on purpose. Maybe on accident,
but not on purpose. Yeah, it's uh, it's just a glorious,

(40:01):
glorious moment of a competitive advantage in the world of sports.
We'll have that four year ten minutes from now, all right,
So we were talking about the quarterback. That quarterback contract,
the next big one. Josh Allen gets the six years,
two hundred fifty eight million dollars, a hundred million dollars
guaranteed at signing um and and you were sort of

(40:22):
breaking down the deal that it's not one of these
tear up the final two years of his deal and
it's more of a four year, but it's actually in
essence an eight year contracts. So Josh Allen is not
going anywhere. No, Yeah, so he's gonna be there a
long time. I mean, a hundred million fully guaranteed. That's
a part of the commitment, besides just the fact that
it's six years attached to the end of his rookie deal,

(40:45):
which is a five year deal with the option UM
And I think the biggest difference for me and hearing
that that's it's actually six years on top of that is,
you know, now you've gotta look at the age in
which you know he'll be um able to look at
potential free agency. We're talking about like low thirties, like
mid like thirty three, something like that kind of I
don't say a big difference, but I mean by by

(41:07):
the time you're thirty, you'd hope you'd have another crack
at a second, you know, a third contract at that
point for him, um, which is I think the interesting
thing about it is he had two ways of going.
DA's contract is more of what I thought he would
do where I mean, but I guess the biggest difference
is the fact that you know, Dac was steering free

(41:28):
agency right in the eye. I mean, they had used
the franchise tag on him. Josh still had not only
two more years left on his rookie deal, but they
could have used you know, one or two tags on him.
So really the team could control him for four more
years if if you look at what you know, him
not signing a deal would have equated to So it
was a little harder I think to do the type

(41:49):
of deal that Dak did now and and probably you know,
easier for him to do something similar to what Patrick
Mahomes did if the team feels that committed to him
which they obviously do at this point because Dax is
more closely resembled the Deshaun Watson and Russell Wilson contracts. Correct. Sure, sure,
I mean, and you can even say to a degree,
you know, Kirk Cousins because the difference with Causines he

(42:12):
just went three years in staid I want to fully guaranteed.
Most contracts for quarterbacks, they'll guarantee through the third year.
They'll have mechanisms of different things, but it might not
and it might not be guaranteed it's signing, but it
will essentially be guaranteed through the third year. It's really
that fourth year that no one's been able to tap
into those guarantees, which in this case, I think Josh

(42:35):
Allen kind of his ekes into that a little bit.
But the Bundy isn't you know, it's not that significant
to the point where it's gonna hamstring the Buffalo bills
and doing that. So that's that's the biggest differences, you know,
the short term and then trying to get another butt
at the Apple versus going long term and just saying
I know they're gonna come back to the negotiation table
with me anyway, because they're gonna have to create cap space,

(42:57):
they're gonna have to do all these other things down
the road, and so I'd rather be under contract doing
that instead of putting them in a pinch every four
years or so. And just for people that were, you know,
not familiar with this situation, Brady Quinn and I have
been working together for five six years here on Fox
Sports Radio, and we've been doing the Sunday night show
at that time from eight to eleven pm Eastern time,

(43:19):
five day Pacific. And you and I have been pounding
the table four years about Josh Allen. There is there
is a Josh Allen fan club, and you and I
have been leading the charge for years. So to see
him get rewarded after all our hard work in supporting
him and promoting him, uh, and just how how much

(43:40):
fun he was to watch, even in year two when
you didn't know if he was going to throw ninety
yard touchdown in the air or a ninety yard pick
six the other way. What a good time watching Josh
Allen play football, Brady Quinn, It's been a ton of fun.
I mean, he's a special talent. You could see that
coming out of Wyoming. I think I told you when
they're coming out of the draft. You know that year, Um,

(44:01):
he was throwing two guys that were balls were bouncing
off their chest, their face mask. I remember watching the
Iowa game and thinking he should have had at least
a couple of touchdown passes in that game, and he
made one play that it literally wasn't incompletion, but he
scrambled and found his way out of four different times
getting sacked, and he somehow was able to extend to

(44:22):
play just to throw the football away. And I remember
watching going, dude, that's a sack for quarterbacks in that situation.
But the fact that he could get out of it
and actually still managed to fight another guy off, slipped
through another tackle, shrug a guy off, and throw it away.
It was impressive. And there was things like that you

(44:43):
could see in his game that you know, the media
didn't buy in. Do you remember the first couple of
years ago it was egccuracy is at dude. It wasn't
about that he was playing with lesser talent of wyoming
with him. Um. You know, were there some mechanical things
he's cleaned up, sure, but what you even last year,
you know, before Diggs got there, I should say two

(45:04):
years ago, his team was hurting him as far as drops.
And part of the reason he's got such a strong arm.
That ball jumps on you quick. And any quarterback with
the really strong arm is never gonna have the highest
completion percentage because his ball is not gonna be quite
as catch. What's gonna jump on you a little bit
faster out of the brakes. That's just the reality of it.
And you're probably gonna utilize that strong arm to chuck

(45:25):
the football down the field, where your completion percentage goes
even further down. So there's a lot of reasons why,
Like the completion percentage, to me, is one of the
dumbest ways that people are gonna we're trying to measure
his accuracy, but just overall accuracy in general. And it
honestly was really revealing last year when you saw all
these people who are like, oh, the accuracy, It's like, no, dude,

(45:45):
you just didn't watch film. You looked at box scores
like he was. He's always been pretty accurate. Now, does
he have a tendency at times to overstride a stride
or get a little bit wide with his while with
his motion. Sure, and he's gonna miss some throws or
a Russia throw. But that's a product I think of
any taller, longer legged quarterback, which he is. So that

(46:05):
was the biggest thing that was revealing to me. It
was all the people who have turned the corner that
I said, well, hed proved was accurately come on, man like.
It was always like that. The biggest difference. They finally
got him a number one wide receiver in Buffalo after
the first two seasons not having it. And I mean,
let's you know, also not to bury the lead here.
You know, their tight end is don't you yes that
your cousin. By the way, I meant to ask you,

(46:27):
I mean maybe, I mean maybe yeah, you and Dawson Knox.
I don't know. Maybe. I mean listen to I. I
can lie and say there is if you want me
to go that route, I have no alright, So so
ask me that again. So they've got this tight end
that he's he's an emerging star in the league. Josh
Allen loves him, Dawson Knox or are you guys related? Yeah,

(46:50):
I mean that's that's offensive. Yeah you didn't know that. Yeah, absolutely,
Dawson Knox long lost relative of does your long lost
relative Dawson Knox does. He loves scoring boxing matches. He does,
like you Dotox social media a little box with Knox,
I don't have about that. Yeah, you know, scoring Pacio

(47:11):
Marquez too. You know it doesn't And I know you're
I know you're into this boxing stuff, scorecards and things
like that. Scorecards. It was interesting. Someone pointed out by
the way that like I had missed a letter in
the box with with Knox, which unfortunately was the wrong
letter to leave out. However, here's here's the issue with

(47:32):
that in Twitter, Like, I can't go back and edit it.
I can't change it. I understand the reason things why,
but now it just sits there to live forever unless
I delete the reply, which I don't because I was
trying to support you with your scorecards scoring on social media. Yeah,
you're a pain, and you're a pain in my ass.
You continue to be a pain in my ass. And
for people out there that are wondering what Brady's referring to, um, well,

(47:54):
the first things first, he lied to you. Just now
that's a lie. That's true. He did. He showed be
some mistake. He was not a mistake. He likes to
spell my last name, but leave out the letter N. Alright,
So just did everybody think about that? He likes him. So,
if you're driving, if you're waking up on the West
Coast and you're listening on M five seventy l A
Sports the Blowtorch of Fox Sports Radio, just to understand,

(48:18):
understand that when Brady leaves out the end in my
last name, it's intentional and he's lying. If he tells
you that he made a mistake on Twitter and he
couldn't go back and edit it, that's truth. Meet. So
we may or may not have had a segment a
few years ago where I was like, well, you've got
the easiest transition to a poor name for any national
radio show host. Yeah, and we just we talked about

(48:38):
this and you said, yeah, I just I dropped the
end of my last name, like yep, dropped the end.
You add an extra X. It's perfect. Yeah, that is
That's how it's done. Absolutely. I mean there's just one
thing missing, Like you know, I don't. I don't don't
necessarily qualify category for everyone nowadays. Yeah, and trust me,
not not not with high def. This is not not

(49:00):
not the way we're gonna be. We're gonna be uh
orchestrating my plan b if this whole radio thing doesn't
work out. UM, I do need to ask you though,
quickly before we hear from Eddie Garcia who signs next
Baker Lamar uh Lamar. I think I'm not sure either
gets done before the season. I think if it does, though,
it will be Lamar uh injury risk. I think Baltimore

(49:21):
has got a desire to do it too, and I've
just heard Baker and Cleveland are are too far apart
on what he or and where he puts himself amongst
that class, so I think they want to wait until
after the season. I think he wants to have one
of those seasons where maybe Baker is a guy you
might want to sprinkle a little money on. I don't
know what his m v P odds are, but I
think he feels like he could have that sort of

(49:41):
season like Josh Allen did last year, where puts him
in that conversation of one of these huge contracts, and
you know, honestly, it gets him that much closer to
free agency, which should up the anny on how much
he's willing to ask if he has one of those
big years he's Brady Quinn. I'm Jonas knocks is how
kicked the coverage here Fox Sports Radio. Coming up in
Exit is the scraps things in the world of sports

(50:02):
we have not had a chance to get to, including
somebody who is way, way, way too competitive. It's yours
next here, But for all the latest from around the
world of sports, it's Eddie Garcia. All right, thanks. Jonas
will start with Major League Baseball games of note, where
the Phillies were taking on the Mets in Philadelphia, looking
to get the series sweep and run their winning streak
to eight in the row. It brings us to our
discover card play of the night, too got it ball

(50:25):
game is over, as Zach we aren't with the most
Roy Holliday like performance we have seen since the man
himself a two hits shutout as he has completed a
sweep of the Mets three nothing. The final called the
Phillies Radio Network Wheeler with the complete game to it
shut out in a three nothing victory, as you're ready
to get the sweep and it's eight Street wins now

(50:46):
for Philadelphia, they've got a two and a half game
lead on the Mets. In the NL et the Braves
meat the Nationals five four, so Atlanta actually jumps over
the New York Medicine into second place in the last
there two back of Philadelphia raise over the Orioles nine
to six, while the Red Sox lost the Blue Jays
nine eight. Tampa Bay now with a four game lead
on Boston in the a L East. Giant speeds the
Brewers five four, and a battle of division leaders Dodgers

(51:07):
over the Angels eight to two, but l A still
four back of San Francisco. In the n L West.
White Sox wrapp up but three games sweep the Cubs
with a nine three win. Astros loses to the Twins
seven to five, while the A's beat the Rangers six too,
so Oakland is now two back of Houston in the
race four first in the a L West, and the
A's are also now percentage points up on Boston for
the number one wild card spot in the American League,
and the Padre shut up the Domonbacks to nothin San Diego,

(51:29):
holding that second wild card spot in the NL. A
couple of NFL notes, Innapple's Colt signed star linebacker Darius
Leonard five years ninety point two five million extension, UH
he gets fifty two dollars fifty two million dollars in
guaranteed money. That makes him the highest paid linebacker in
the NFL. He's now signed through the twenty sixth season.
All Pro Corners Avian Howard agrees on a restructured contract
with the Miami Dolphins, twelve days after he requested a trade.

(51:52):
This agreement allows him to earn up to three point
five million in new incentives this year, with more guaranteed
money in twenty two. Now back to Jonas Stocks Brady
Quinn in the out coverage studios. Hey, Eddie, I don't
know if you saw this, but Peter Burns, former Fox
Sports Radio alum good dude, posted on Twitter. Uh today
is the thirty three year anniversary of Wayne Gretzky's trade

(52:15):
to the Kings from the Oilery. How about that years? Gosh,
isn't that That's how you became a hockey fan? Right?
That was a big part of it. Yeah. I was like,
this guy's coming here, what's this all about? We go
check him out? And then I started watching hockey and yeah,
that's a great one. Yeah, heat by far and away
is the greatest of all time, right, the greatest score

(52:37):
of all time. Yeah, I would say, well, oh yeah,
I mean, hold hold on what happened? Well, I think
I would have to Skin is the greatest goal scorer
of all time. But but Gretzky is the greatest scorer
of all times. That makes sense? Yes, ye, yeah, yeah,

(52:58):
so Gretzky is a better all around player. I mean yes, yes, yes, yeah,
that's uh. And and by the way, Eddie, there's another
layer to uh Puck the World on the Ben Mallor
Show later this week. How about that? You know, I'm
just I'm helping to produce a segment here for you
on Puck the World. You're hats That's what I do.

(53:18):
Leave that joke alone, Brady, I don't even go there.
I did say, I think I was going to. Yeah,
you just you gotta be careful around him, Eddie. He'll
take the conversation in dark places. I'm I'm a professional here,
broadcast professional. I'm the guy rides shotgun and then grabs
the steering rail and just rips you right in new
of this. Yes you do. Um, So we're going to
come it up in we'll call it actually, let's let's

(53:39):
because I want to make sure we have full time
for this story of of competitive advantages in the world
of sports. So we will do the scraps here coming
up in about ten minutes from now on Fox Sports Radio.
I do need to ask you this because you were
ripping into people that are just reading the box scores
and you talked about the Josh Allen situation, and he said, look, cute,
you know completion percentage when it comes to a quarterback.

(54:02):
You know, sometimes it's a misnomer because if the quarterback's
got a strong arm, there's a lot of drop passes,
and maybe that's not factored into it. Explain to me
why you don't buy into since we're on the topic
right for people listening, explain to me why you don't
buy into the stat category qb r UM. It's not
that I necessarily don't buy into it. I just think

(54:23):
any time you're using because because look that that at
least that status trying to take situational play and have
a weighted average for it to then determine how how
a player played right. So in third down, red zone,
those areas if they play really well in particular situationally
like that which largely determines the outcomes of outcomes of games,

(54:46):
it should be a high number, right, So it awards
quarterbacks for playing well in those pressure situations. That's one
nice thing about it. Generally, Look, if you if you're
playing well at quarterback, you should have a high quarterback rating.
Like it's easy to see based on the cumulu of
stats that go together. The hard thing is is if
you throw a pass and it hits off a guy's chest,

(55:07):
they drops it, it's an incompletion and so not only
does it not take into account how accurate the past was,
but it's gonna hurt your quarterback rating. It's gonna hurt
your quarterback you know, QBR, quarterback rading, whatever you wanna use,
it's gonna hurt all of it. So my my whole
thing is like, there's no there's no stature like airline

(55:27):
for a drop pass or a tip pass that ends
up being intercepted, even though it was a perfectly thrown ball,
or it was a well thrown ball that should have
been caught that wasn't. That all still goes on the quarterbacks.
So until you watch the film and until you see
what happens, Like for example, if a guy is getting
pressure all day and you know he ends up not

(55:47):
having a great passing day because he's constantly being flushed
outside the pocket and he's only got half the field
to work with. You know it, You know you don't.
It doesn't really tell the whole story of the stat line.
You know, all you see is QB. Are you see
this list of stats in the box score and go, oh,
he must have played bad? Oh? Well, meanwhile, did you
notice that he actually ran three miles like Patrick Mahomes
did in the Super Bowl because he was being pressured

(56:09):
so much? So just stats sometimes when they do a lot, yeah,
they do, because unless you watch the tape of the film,
you really don't have an appreciation for what exactly happened.
It's it's what what do we say about diets? When
they go, well, what diet works the best? The one
where you put the fork down, all right, and you
with enough of this crap, It's like, well, which which
stat works the best? The one in which you actually

(56:31):
watched the game, because it'll tell you what's going on.
But that's the problem. There's a lot of people that
just go by either QBR or go buy some of
these stats and then think they've got all the answers,
and it's just not the case. I mean the actually
I mean I'll throw another layer on like all those
heart rate monitors people, Oh, look how many calories I
burned my workout and all that's like, okay, that's great,

(56:51):
but like, how do you feel? How do you look
like you? Are you actually losing we are you're actually
getting in shape or you just relying on a piece
of equipment because you were going some sort of little
strenuous workout for a certain period of time where you
think you're burning that many calories. Like I got a
buddy who goes to the psychond classes all the time.
It's like I burn calories. That's awesome, But like you're

(57:13):
you don't look any different, but like I loosen, Like
what's the deal? Like, what's the deal here? Maybe we
need to figure out a different workout routine, or maybe
maybe that place is lying to you with how many
calories it says you're burning because I'm not seeing the results,
Like you may see how many calories you burn, but
it's not translating. Then if that's the case, The worst
I ever felt was when I was my most lean,

(57:36):
like when when I had lost a lot of weight
and wanted to get down. I was like, oh, you know,
I'm gonna get down. I want to get lean again.
I was frail, I was weak, I had no energy,
like it was the worst I ever felt. And it was,
you know, just conditioning wise, it felt great and all that,
but it was the worst I ever felt. Uh So
then you try it out and I realized I gotta
ad it had a few more pounds because I looked awful,

(57:57):
absolutely terrible. But but again, man, this it's just you
and I talk and now work out here. Just give
it out. Diet tips, QBR tips is what we do
here at Fox Sports Radio. Full service here at f
S are. You know, it's like one of those gas
stations where they go full service or self service. Full service.
Here we come out to you. You guys don't have
you at that though, do you? I don't believe so.

(58:17):
I think I think it's Oregon in New Jersey, if
I'm not mistaken. Are the two places in which you're
not gas? We have one in South Florida. Well, yeah,
there's certain places where it's like that, but there's there's
also a certain stations you can go to that are
still full service. Man, that's awesome. It is pretty cool,
although you know, I don't mind pumping my own gas.

(58:38):
I mean, it's the laziest thing in the world if
you have somebody pump your gas for you. Like, do
you think there'll be a day when people are gonna
be like I need someone to come out and fully
electrically charge my car. I mean, we're we're venturing into
that real I can't listen. I can't even as somebody,
um who drives a truck that's got three hundred and
four thousand miles on it. The thought of electric cars

(58:59):
freaks me out. It just weirds me out self self
driving cars like those Teslas to where you can take
a nap in the back seat and they can drive
for you. That just that is a that is a nightmare.
Wait nap and I want no part of it, no
part of it. But again, you know, I'm welcome a
car guy. You're not really into that stuff. Yeah, fancy things,

(59:20):
all right, Brady Quinn Jonas knocks here. It's out kicked
the coverage here on Fox Sports Radio coming up next.
You talk about wanting a competitive advantage. This is borderline
cruelty in the world of sports, and we'll have it
for you here on fs ARE. Be sure to catch
live editions of out kick the Coverage weekdays at six
am Eastern, three am Pacific. He's Brady Quinn, I'm Jonas Knocks.

(59:40):
That's how kick the Coverage here on Fox Sports Radio.
Brady Quinn and myself. We'll be back on the air tomorrow,
same time, same place here on fs ARE. Uh, Samora
NFL training camp storylines. I'm sure we'll be out there Brady. Also, Uh,
this week, we've got the uh the Field of Dreams
game and Iowa haven't. How cool is that? I need

(01:00:02):
to go find that coffee mug, you know where where
the corn disappears and the players emerged. Back when I
was nine years old, we bought one of those things.
So cool, it's it's awesome. But my mom threw it out.
You know, that's not very nice. I mean, listen, she
probably did. She probably did. Listen that happens. By the way,
we did play very well in that tournament, so she
probably threw it out. Yeah. Well yeah, but it's a
good it's a good, you know, for something to keep

(01:00:24):
saying good collectors. I tell my mom that. But trust me,
she didn't keep anything unless it was the first place trophy. So,
by the way, you don't know, it's even more cool
than that, the fact that we've got a guy angel
who was listening to the show right now on the
I Heart radio app in Mexico. Literally he's in Mexico,
and he just wanted to let us know that here

(01:00:46):
in Mexico. Yeah. I didn't say that. So play the
racist drop on yourself for burn, play it on yourself,
you like to do everybody else for it? Yeah, yeah,
damn anything. Yeah, I was just happy we were on
international with this. Yeah. He wanted to point out that
it's rare in Mexico that you pump up gas and
a gas station they always have the workers pump for you,

(01:01:08):
check your car's oil, water, tire pressure, etceter Right, you
don't even have to get out of the car to pay,
because you pay the person. Yeah, just you go to
his point, I don't know if it is or not
who cares to his point, it does make sense to
have someone check every time you stop to fill up

(01:01:29):
all those things, Like if you really think about public safe,
you like, yeah, you probably should have someone checked the fluids,
your tire pressure, all that stuff, and wipe off your windshields.
So you can see properly, Like I completely get that,
Like that actually makes a ton of sense. I'm not
sure why we pivoted now where people are like they're
texting and driving even while they're filling up, you know,

(01:01:49):
their tank. When they stop doing a gas they're still
texting and driving. Like I'm not even sure they know
they're filling it up properly. They could be putting the
wrong fuel in their car for all they know. Yeah,
it's it's very, very strange. But again, we appreciate the
love there in Mexico. Right now though it's time for this.
How could you not get to these stories? Are the

(01:02:11):
scraps and for to find out what we have missed
so far on the show, we turned it over to
Danny g R, Executive producer, to get those answers deve.
All right, let's get right to the story that you teased.
A French marathon runner is getting some heat for appearing
to knock over a row of water bottles at a
hydration station during the latter half of the Olympic Men's

(01:02:33):
marathon on Sunday. Shouts out to Justin who tweeted this
picture this video rather to me on Sunday his name
Maraud am Dounei thirty three. He could be seen in
a cluster of other runners as he approaches the station.
He then reaches for a water bottle knocks over an
entire row of them off the table like dominoes, before

(01:02:54):
grabbing the last one and leaving nothing for the runners
behind him. Now. The video sparked some debate online as
whether or not as to whether or not the move
was intentional. Some are arguing that he was in an
awkward position, sandwiched between others in excessive heat there while
trying to reach for a water bottle. But you guys,

(01:03:15):
this is a top athlete, this marathon runner. He could
grab a water bottle. This looks like he's trying to
get a competitive advantage, right, And what's his name again?
His name is Maraud am Dounei. Yeah, they should change
it to Maraud. Awesome, that's what they should change it to,
because that is an awesome move. Good for him. Man, Hey,
you prash your entire life to try and win a

(01:03:37):
gold medal. You get there, You got an opportunity. I'm sorry, man,
nobody's safe. Sorry. Now, it looked like there was a
few other rows of water still available, though they were
out of the reach of a lot of runners. Like
that was that was that was the issue. So there's
two rows and he knocked over the runners. So I'm
actually with Jonas on this. I think it's a tremendous

(01:03:57):
tactical move to take out the that's most readily and
easily accessible to them. Um. Now, look as far as
whether or not it's fair, Look if they didn't say
anything to him, I mean, I'm just saying, like, if
there's a gray area, you pull stunt like this, you
make them put in the rule book next time around.
I like it. I don't know who this guy is.

(01:04:18):
I just want to grab a beer and be friends
with him. Yeah, that's awesome. Good for him. By the way,
he wound up finishing in seventeenth place, so he needed
the advantage of saying like that's he needed it, you know,
he needed this sort of the all right. Lane Kiffin
met with his football team Saturday night, prior to the
first practice for Old Miss of the preseason on Sunday,

(01:04:39):
and he had a confession to make. I saw a
picture of me at the bowl game last year and
told the players I looked like an anaconda that had
swallowed a deer and the dare got stuck in its neck.
Kiffin said to the team. He says that the players
how old at his analogy, but he wanted them to
know that he's very serious about discipline. It goes for

(01:05:00):
all of us, starting with me. Kiffin said. Here I
am in the postseason meetings back in January telling my
offensive lineman and the other guys that they needed to
eat better, lose weight, get in shape. And I looked
like a whale. So what did he do? He's dropped
more than thirty pounds. Wow? Good for him, man, Yeah,
I mean he's you know, I remember during his time

(01:05:20):
at f a U down here in South Florida, he
had a good old time, all right, I'll just put
it that way. Well, Joey Freshwater was was loose? Yeah.
By the way, over underwind totals for Ole miss seven
and a half. What are we going with? I love
their quarterback Matt Coral. He's a hell of a player.
I'm gonna I don't know. I think seven's the number.

(01:05:44):
By the way, what's a better alias Joey Freshwater from
Lane Kiffin or Ron Mexico from Michael Vick. What do
you think Mexico. I think Ron Mexico. It's it's close, though,
I mean, Joey. Freshwater is great if you're on a coast,
if you're not, you know, if you're near a body
of water, even though I'm not really sure why fresh
water would make sense, you know, because I mean saltwater

(01:06:05):
sounds fake. Yeah that that's no, that's a very good point. Yeah.
But but listen, there's a that's a fun that's a
fun place to be a head coach. Huh Florida Atlantic. Yeah, yeah, Well,
I mean any place where this low expectations and you're
near warm weather and a body of water, I think
those that goes really well with a nice adult beverage.
You know, I pay low expectation, body of water, warm weather,

(01:06:29):
alcoholic beverage. That's why would if Key West ever gets
a college football team. I mean, come on, you know,
you know your buddy at the Mississippi State. A lot
of rubbed knees going on there, a lot of people
rubbing each other's knees. Yeah, that and something else. It's
all too happy birthday by the way,
