up until the end of the hour six am Pacific time,
nine am Eastern time here on Fox Sports Radio. Later
(00:49):
on in the hour, we will have an in the
moment reaction to the baseball game between the Dodgers and
Padres that just ended about twenty five minutes ago. Apparently, uh,
just an insane game. They're at Peco. We have all
the details on just a wild night there into the morning,
uh here on fs ARE. But we talked about the
(01:11):
announcements being made around the NFL. Uh Teddy Bridgewater has
been named starter starting quarterback for the Denver Broncos. Trevor
Lawrence has been named starting quarterback for the Jacksonville Jaguars.
And we're still you know, we're our waiting word officially,
uh from you know, the San Francisco forty Niners. Kyle
Shannon still not ready to make an announcement, but uh.
(01:33):
One of the quarterbacks in the quote unquote competition heading
into the season is Jimmy Garoppolo, and he addressed the
media yesterday. I said, we had a pretty good idea
we do the starting quarterback for Week one? Do you
have a pretty good idea? Oh? Yeah, I have a
pretty good idea. You're smiling about it? Almost mean subthing, right,
that's whatever he decides. Yeah, a pretty good idea. I'm
(01:57):
pretty happy with where I'm at right now and everything
and just the offense as a whole. Uh yeah, Cole's
the head man. He'll make a call alright. So I'm
just gonna go out on a limb here. I think
Jimmy Garoppolo is going to be the starting quarterback week one,
and I feel good about that. I feel good about
Jimmy Garoppolo being the starting quarterback for the Niners in
Week one, based on that Young somewhere pulling his hair
out because he never had that opportunity with Joe Montana.
(02:20):
There you guys. That quote that Steve Young had like
yesterday was about trailers, basically saying Trey lads has to
play like you gotta play him, I mean, and and
you're you're right what you just said, Jonas is my
was my response to it was, you're talking about probably
the most do we want to do? We want to
(02:44):
say it infamous because to one side it's famous, the
other side it's infamy, you know what I mean? So
because both guys are Hall of famers. Like so, but
if you're the Niners and you had you, so you
had Montana and then Steve Young, and there was real
debate as to whether, like were they making the right
decision getting rid of Montana. So Steve Young basically says,
(03:04):
why are you going to start a guy that basically
you've told the guy you don't want him anymore? Like
I was like really feeling like he was having a
real like personal moment Like Joe, they said they didn't
want you anymore, Like why did you want to Why
DoD Why are you still here starting in front of me?
(03:24):
They said they didn't want you. Trauma still there left over? Yeah,
I do love what LaVar does. That would be like
a personal moment, like he's really like breaking the personal
part of Steve Young, you know, like like psychoanalyzing Steve Young.
Can we get Steve Olivar? I would love for us
to get him on and just have you talked to him?
Pick his brain? I just want to listen. I don't
(03:46):
ask anything. I just want to listen to. To be honest,
I would want to pick his brain and listen to
because it sounded like there was some real personal interests
or connection to how he feels about Trey Lance's current situation,
like he never let it go. Okay, I do. I
do find this conversation interesting from this standpoint though, like
(04:07):
what Steve Young said personal, let's set the personal stuff
aside the yeah, like like they both of them. Yeah,
you could make the case either way. And I do
think there's that like awkwardness of in Chicago, Andy Dalton
and Justin Fields, like and he could say whatever he wants,
(04:29):
but as soon as his time ends, that's on the
decision of Matt Naggie, and that's really going to be
dictated off of winning and losing. And and another step
further from that, it doesn't even matter if you're winning
and losing necessarily, because you could be winning, you can
still get bits like look at Ryan Fitzpatrick, that's what
he was quoted as saying. He literally laughed. He thought
(04:50):
it was a joke, but he said he literally laughed
thinking Flores was was making a joke. And and and they
end up starting to after that, and then it was
kind of the ping pong deal. But I mean, nowadays
in the NFL, it's when the quarterback's ready, right, I
don't even think it's if he's ready. It's like they'll
(05:12):
basically just say, either we've got a plan. Like I
think what they did with two, it was their bye
week got affected, it ended up getting pushed up because
of how games got moved around with COVID, and I
think they just said, look at the bye week, we're
gonna put two in there to give him a couple
of weeks to prepare, and and then then that's it.
Like once we make that decision, that's it, and we'll
(05:33):
have Ryan come in situationally if we feel the need to.
I think some teams have a plan and then other
teams just say, we're gonna go with the veteran guy
until we feel like he doesn't give us the best
chance to win anymore. And when that's the case, whether
our rookies ready or not, we're gonna get him ready,
because you know, if, like for example, Mitch Robinski, I
(05:54):
called some Chicago Bears games that year, John Fox, the
head coach, Dal Logans is the offensive coordinator. He wasn't ready,
but they felt the urge to do it, thinking that
it might prolong them another year being there as their
head coach. What happens after the season they got fired.
It didn't matter. So like that never even as your
your parachute or your golden parachute, if you're a coach
(06:17):
to help safe you like it's it's still not gonna
matter in the end. And so I do kind of
find it interesting that like you, but as well get
it started like sooner rather than later, and go through
your early you know, lumps with that young player. Uh,
then play the veteran, have everyone get ticked off of
you when things don't work out or if they don't
work out, and then go to the younger guy. It's
(06:37):
also the San Francisco forty Niners or the team that's
been connected to every big name free agent quarterback or
draft potential quarterback over the past couple of years. They admitted, yeah,
we we we asked about Tom Brady. Uh, they've they've admitted, yeah,
we asked about Aaron Rodgers. They're like, they traded up
in the draft aggressively to to go draft quarterbacks. So
(07:01):
the idea that you know that this you know, well,
you know, don't worry they're just playing games here, I
don't think they actually are. And and I I believe
and they've already said that Tray Lance is gonna get
some opportunities. They're gonna figure out a way to work
com into this offense. Correct, Like there's gonna be they're
gonna do something, because they've already come out publicly and
said that as well too. If you believe what he's saying,
(07:21):
he has publicly said he will play in situations. And listen,
I've said this on the show. I think that you're
going to see a lot of young guys get situational
opportunities to play this year. I believe that's going to
turn into a trend. I do now again, we could
have the conversation about, you know, how much of those
situations will will play a part. You know, but we've
(07:45):
seen it happen before, right we We've seen it happen
with with with quarterbacks and and listen, I I think
you have to get Tray Lance on the field. I
believe that. I believe they want to get Tray Lance
on the field. Why not make them the starter? I
don't know, not not my call for that, But when
(08:07):
you're looking at where they're going, how they've spoken of
of Jimmy Garoppolo, the idea of of his health being
a question as well. You know, I think that they
want to be prepared and they want to be ready,
whether sooner or or a little bit further out than sooner.
They're gonna want Trey Lance to be the guy at
(08:29):
the helm of this team. And also Garoppolo's dealt with injuries.
I look, I actually feel bad for Jimmy Garoppolo. I
know nobody wants to feel bad for him because it's like, oh, guy,
he's a good looking guy, he's got he's got money,
and you know he goes out with stripper Rocks, or
porn stars or whatever. Looking guys have feelings too. Yeah, yeah,
(08:51):
Brady's got feelings. Yeah, turn those off though nowadays in
my life because no one cares about but not unless
you do have them. Though, yes they're there. Deep down,
I thought those those air pods were. That's that's my
(09:13):
feelings are a little, a little little hide and seek,
but down there. Okay, with with Garolo, what what would
it take? All right, let me ask you this, outside
of injury and him not playing, maybe the best is
this going to be a Miami situation where they're gonna say, hey,
(09:35):
we're going to the young guy and Jimmy Garoppolo pulls
a Ryan Fitzpatrick and says, oh, I thought you guys
were kidding, because Kyle Shannon feels like the aggressive type
guy John Lynch feels like the aggressive type you know,
a GM that would make this decision and just say no, no, no,
like now is the time, like like we've got a
long enough a leash that now is the time that
we can make the move. Because when Garoppolo is healthy,
(09:58):
and I know that's a big but the one year
he played the full year, they were in a Super Bowl,
and so this idea that you know, you've got to
save them from Garoppolo. I just don't buy it. I
think he's much better than a lot of people give
him credit for. I'm with him. He looks like he's
got a much better control and command of the offense.
And I think that's that's the thing that we don't see.
I mean, we we see the box score, we see highlights,
(10:20):
because that's how our society works. That's all we show
in sports. When you watch the entirety of the game,
you you'd find anyone who would be hard pressed to
say Trey Lance didn't look shaky early. I mean, he
started off statistically bat early, but he was double clutching throws.
He wasn't trusting what he saw. And that's okay. He
started one season two years ago. That's it in college
(10:42):
at a lower level, and so I'm not trying to
take away from what he did that one year. It
was an incredible year from North Dakota State. But it's
not gonna be an easy transition for him. He's gonna
have a lot of learning to do. And I think,
you know, you look at some of the guys who
have his sort of potential because he does ooze with potential.
(11:04):
He's got a rocket for him. You know who he is.
To me, He's the equivalent of Josh Allen. That's what
he is right now. Like I don't know if I've
heard anyone make that comparison, but that's what he is.
He is Josh Allen. He's a guy who I think
has at times some accuracy issues. He wasn't asked to
throw a ton when he's in North Dakota State. And
(11:24):
then he's extremely athletic. He can take off, run, hurt
you in that way, has the big arm. But there's
going to be a learning curve, and in Buffalo there
wasn't that chance really for Josh Allen to learn a son.
You know, he got thrust in there pretty pretty early.
I think it would be great for Trey Lance to
not play for a year, maybe situationally if you can
(11:46):
bring us for some run stuff, but but really not
play for a year, to sit and watch. And that's like,
that's obviously assuming that Garoppolo stays healthy and plays well,
because I think on the other end of it, you
could see him burst onto the scene like he's closer
to Patrick Mahomes type m VP candidate, like that that's
sort of he's got that sort of potential and talent.
(12:07):
It's just he's so green. And I think that's the
concern if you're if you're the forty Niners, is you know,
putting him out there before he's really ready and then
having to live with the fact that this is a
playoff roster. But are you are you truly maximizing your
potential going through growing place with a young quarterback. I
don't think they need to do that. I think they
can be like the Kansas City Chiefs and let Alex
(12:29):
Smith play the year or Jimmy Garoppolo in this case,
and then the following year decide if you want to
make that move. Uh, it's it's just so. It's one
of those things. Again. Is there a right or a
wrong answer to the trade Lance scenario? Right? Like, it
makes so much sense to do it exactly the way
(12:52):
you just laid it out, Brady, Like you got a
guy that has actually been good enough to lead them
to a championship. It round game they come up short.
He's much maligned for one reason or another. His health
is always in the question. And can you buy time
for Trey Lance to get those that valuable experience and learn.
(13:15):
I do think that that is the most prudent approach
to what it is. But some people don't like prudent approaches.
Some people like bold, uh in your face approaches, And
it's it's kind of interesting. What direction will Cayle Shanahan
go ahead and keep in mind? For what it's worth,
we're talking about cal Shanahan as one of the hottest
(13:37):
head coaches in the National Football League. Why is his
record so good? Who has been the quarterback of that run? Right? So?
Is there any type of loyalty there? Is there any
type of camaraderie connected to this? I don't know, So
I don't I don't really know what the right or
(13:58):
wrong answer is to it. I think if you throw
Trey Lance in there and and you see what happens,
maybe that's the best thing to do. If you keep
if you keep Jimmy Garoppolo in there and see what
they can get done this year while Trey Lance is learning,
because we all know Trey Lance is going to eventually
get it, maybe that's the right answer. But I will
(14:19):
say this, the dentist appointments are working for Jimmy Garoppolo.
This personality does shine through, and you gotta respect the
fact that, regardless of how it plays out, Jimmy Garoppolo
has really handled himself, you know, very well during the
course of everything that he's had to to really kind
of deal with in terms of being looked at, is
(14:40):
like always like not being the guy. He's like the guy.
He's been a guy that's not been the guy like
pretty much his entire NFL career mouth surfboards that guy
it is. I'll kick the coverage here on Fox Sports Trading. Uh,
it is LaVar Rington, Brady quin Jonas knocks with you
here on FS are this this is I'll kick the coverage.
(15:05):
We are going to have a listen back to one
of the finer moments and uh in overnight Fox Sports
Radio history. Are you talk about, you know, having some
connections and and making making things happen in the middle
of the night during a live baseball game that doesn't
seem to want end. We'll have that for you here
coming up less than ten minutes from now on Fox
Sports Radio. So on the subject of the Jimmy Garoppolo,
(15:29):
you know, trade lance situation in San Francisco and what
they're gonna do, and we the expectation is the feeling
is Garoppolo is going to be named the start, but
the trade lands will probably get worked in at some
point during the course of the season. Is there even
a close second place to best division in football other
than the NFC West? Like, who's even in the conversation,
(15:50):
because to me, it feels like, by far and away,
that's the best division in football. No, no, you're missing,
you're missing sinc. But to for Pittsburgh Cleveland, Yeah, so
they would be too sure. Where the Stealers are going
to be this year? Yeah? Okay, Will they be a
winning team? Yeah? Yeah, I believe the team. You're gonna
(16:12):
have three winning teams in that division. Um, and so
I think that's where it will be compared. I'm with you.
I mean, I think there's a lot of parody after
and that's painful to say that. By the way, you know,
I'm more bullish on them. I think they're gonna bounce back.
I really do. I think I think they'll be And
by the way, I think their third as far as
the odds to win the division, their third. If you like,
(16:33):
if you want to sprinkle some money and you're a
Steelers fan, or even if you just you think there's
some value there. It might be worth a little little
cash just because you call your shot on Teddy Bridge
about to be in the start about gambling advice. I'm
just saying I will hit you guys with this one though.
The a f C West. I don't think that a
f C West is I mean, I don't. I'm not
(16:56):
gonna say I'm gonna put my stake, my repute he
sit on it. But if I were to say, what
what what division has parody? What division has top quarterbacks?
What division has very competitive teams? I would go an
f C West. Three playoff teams potentially there too. Yeah,
(17:17):
and I think and maybe maybe the Chargers can stay healthy,
uh you know for one season. But you have a
possible what could be considered to be a franchise quarterbacks
each team really, if you think about it, has I mean,
you could question the Raiders, but some people are are
high on the Raiders, and and so to me, you think,
(17:38):
I mean, are those people high? They might be you know,
that might be the only team that you might sit
there and you say, don't definitively maybe have a franchise guy.
Here here's the on the NFC West. And I was
(17:59):
thinking about this if you were like, which one of
these would surprise you? Because if I said to you,
all right, the forty Niners won the NFC West, Okay, well,
they were just in a Super Bowl a couple of
years ago. They were plagued by injuries last year, It's
it's not a stretch to say, yeah, the forty Niners
won the NFC West, the Rams won the NFC West. Well,
they go out, they get Matt stafford Um, they've got
(18:20):
a ton of talent on defense, and there's town on
that Ronster. But but, but it would not be the
most surprising thing that they weren't a Super Bowl not
that long ago with Jared Goff. And if you feel
like they've upgraded at the quarterback position, that's not a stretch.
If Russell Wilson gets back to playing like the Russell
Wilson he was early in the season last year, you know,
(18:41):
Jamal Adams is going to be their long term if
they can improve on defense, dk Metcalf takes another step.
It's not the biggest stretch in the world to say, well,
Seattle won the NFC West and then you've got Arizona,
which I think is is the total wild card in
all this because I'm not as big on Kyler Murray
as a lot of people are. But there are some
people that say, the town around him, he's gonna make
(19:04):
a step. And if he makes that step and makes
that jump, you could be looking at one of the
top quarterbacks in the league. And I think, you know,
Arizona has got a legitimate shot to say, after adding
Brady Quinn's guy J. J. Watt, they've got a legitimate
shot to say, you know, maybe we could make a
run of this thing. I just don't see a weakness
in that division top to bottom. But can't you have
that conversation about the a f C. You can totally
(19:26):
about this, how about this? Because you could judge a
conference by its top team, which I think the hard
thing in the NFC West is maybe you say it's
the Rams. Uh, maybe we look at say it's the
forty niners if they're healthy, or Seahawks because they've got
Russell Wilson, the best quarterback in the division. But you
don't question that Tampa is the best team in the NFC. No,
(19:47):
and and and but but I think, but I think
in general, though, just looking at both divisions and comparing them.
You can look at the top team because we all
say with Kansas City is better than any of the teams,
And is it a better way to judge those divisions
in comparison by saying the worst team, Like last year
the Broncos were five and eleven, I think they're gonna
be much higher than that this year. Um So, Arizona
(20:10):
in comparison to the Broncos or Raiders, if you feel
like the Raiders are the fourth best team the f
C West, like maybe it's it's looking at the weakest
link in that division saying all right, instead of looking
at how many playoff teams do you think they're gonna have?
How bad is that worst team that they've got to
play twice a year? And who's the worst team in
the NFC West right now? I mean wouldn't have been
the forty niners last year. But I'm saying heading into
(20:34):
this season, who are you? But you still have to
base it, don't You have to base it on what
what took place? That's fair? Like if if injuries are
an issue. If injuries are an issue, again, that's a
totally fair conversation. I would say, Arizona is only won
six games last year. Yeah, and I would say Arizona
going into this season is the team that I would
(20:55):
be least confident in winning the division. But look, if
they make it a jump and and and Kyler Murray
makes this jump Brady that a lot of people think
he can with Cliff Kingsbury and it's it's here three
the Cardinals went eight and eight. I know, I just
like they're the team I look at and go, I'm
least confident about him. But there's there's enough there that
(21:17):
you go, they could make a jump that he really
could make a run of this division. Not be the
most surprising thing in the world. People are saying A J.
Green looks like the A J. Green from a few
years ago. And if you got him at Hopkins, I mean,
my goodness, man. And then Kyler taking off doing his
thing and J. J. Watt without a shirt on. It's
gonna be let me let me give, let me give,
(21:41):
let me get Brady his process. Ridiculous part of this.
I did catch it, but I'm sitting here like just
like in game, you know, adjusting. We were saying the
NFC West and judging them by the worst team, and
then the best teams, right, NFC West, the best team
had twelve wins, the next best team had ten wins,
(22:04):
all right, and then it's a little bit of a
drop off eight and six. And we're saying that might
be the best, if not the best division in the game.
But you said the NFC North or the NFC North,
and I'm like questioning the a f C North. But
if you think about it, the a f C North
had too three teams that had over ten wins twelve
that the Steelers won twelve, the Ravens one eleven, the
(22:25):
Browns one eleven. Now, it was a very very large
drop off to the Bengals winning four games, But does
that balance out because you have three top heavy teams
and only one team that did not achieve at that level.
And keep in mind, uh Joe Burrow did go out
due to an injury. So I mean, maybe the a
(22:47):
C North should be in the discussion for the best
division because in fact they are the only they are
the only division I believe that had three teams over
ten wins. Yes, yeah, but if you're judging it based
on the bottom, you know, I still think Cincinnati's got
a lot of there's a lot of question. Okay, but
(23:07):
if you have only one team, which Cincinnati was competitive.
If you go back and you look at some of
their games, they were competitive, they just couldn't win, you
know what I mean. They were competitive, but they just
could not win. Well, that's all gotten solved because that's
that's the one thing we're talking about, the different conferences
(23:29):
of which one is the best division is if you're
a part of one of those divisions, it's almost punitive
your chance is winning a super Bowl because it's gonna
be a battle. Man. And I remember playing the a
f C North, like granted we were Cleveland, we weren't
very good, but if you could just steal a win
here or there from Pittsburgh or Baltimore or at that
(23:50):
point in time, Cincinnati when they were making playoff runs,
you know, you knew it was big and helping to
spoil their season. Which when you know, when you know
you're not gonna have a winning season, spoiling your division
rivals playoff hopes or season becomes so so. But no,
but think about this, if you've got yeah, that is,
(24:12):
if you've got the all this parody in your own division,
you're kind of you're kind of screwed. Then trying to
get that number one overall seed, which we know how
important that is, to get a buy which there's only
one that gets now on each side, and the fact
you get home field throughout like that, you know, now
everyone else has to play. The other six teams have
to play in that wild card round. So it's it.
(24:34):
It becomes an even more difficult path moving forward, not
only just to win the division, but to try to
be that number one overall seed, and it almost hurts
or prevents that division that maybe the best, whether it's
the you know NFC West, a f C West, a
f C North, from ultimately winning a Super Bowl. Like
one of the reasons why I think New England, and
(24:54):
it's been talked about obviously it's the greatenst of Brady
and Belichick, but also they played in an an FC
East that was awful diaper fire, so they so they
could slide through that division, win a few more games
and you're either the number one seed or you at
least are somewhere in the top two, and then you've
got a little more control of your destiny in the playoffs.
The recipe for New England was they were at least
going to go five and one in their division because
(25:17):
usually they lost that December game to Miami, a team
like at Miami. But if you got five or six
wins in your division, all you needed was like another
four or five, you know, based on throughout the schedule.
And you were in the conversation for that first round
by you guys always the recipe as you guys a question.
Do you guys think that the Chargers will be a
(25:37):
better team this year at least? Okay, so then that
means they will at least be an eight to nine
game winning team. Ok Now, let me ask you this,
does does Teddy Bridgewater? Do you believe that Teddy Bridgewater
makes them any better than what they were last year? Yes? Yes,
(25:57):
you guys believe that in a game? Do you think
it's at least one game it's a last game? But
I could see I could see the Charges winning ten,
Broncos winning nine, and the Raiders being the team that
takes the biggest step back from last year. Okay, So
if that's the case, then you'd have to assume that
the a f C West is the best conference right
now in the league. And probably I don't think Kansas
City is gonna win fourteen again, Okay, but how many
(26:20):
of you think they'll win. So potentially we have three
teams like the a f C North, you're going to
potentially have three teams in the a f C West
that are going to have double digits wins or at
least right there at it. I don't know if I
don't know if this is possible, but what are the
because I don't even know if this would work. That's yeah,
(26:42):
like I talked about that last year, because they have
the NFC West was was kind of close to that
last year because because think about it like this, if
you're just if you're looking at the NFC East, if
we just assume it's going to be similar to what
it was last year, the division division winner is gonna
get get to get in go to the NFC North.
It feels like the division winner is gonna get in.
And then if the in the NFC South, Tampa Bay
(27:04):
is clearly by far and away the best team in
that division, they're gonna win that division. And we're not
sure how the quarterback situation is going to look in
New Orleans. I mean, if you're looking at the next
outside of division winners, whoever wins the NFC West, the
next three teams that would make up the wild card
spots in the NFC. It's hard for me to find
(27:25):
a better team than say a rams A Seahawks and
possibly the Cardinals. Like I wonder how much of a change.
I don't even know if if it mathematically is possible,
just based on matchups and tiebreakers and all that stuff,
but I don't think it's that far fetched to think
that the four of the best teams of the top
seven teams in the NFC all reside in the NFC West.
(27:47):
You know, it's interesting to wonder where the forty Niners
fall into all of this, because they weren't a very
good team last year, and I listen, I know that
it was due to a ton of injuries. Their defense
looks back to what it was before all of the
injuries took place. But you do have a quarterback competition
taking place right now, and usually people will tell you
(28:10):
if there's a quarterbacks competition taking place, that you don't
know who your quarterback is going to be, and that
means that you're not, for all intents and purposes, a
stabilized team. So what is the San Francisco forty nine
is what are they going to look like when you
look at the Arizona Cardinals. Will the Arizona Cardinals take
a step forward or will they take a step back?
(28:32):
It's interesting because when people talk about Kyler Murray, he's
like this great enigma. You don't really know what you're
going to get totally or fully, but you feel like
he's on the cusp of being this next level quarterback. Well,
if that's the case, why are we sitting there looking
at Lamar Jackson wondering if defenses have caught up to
Lamar Jackson. We're not like, I'm not going to compare
(28:53):
Kyler Murray and Lamar Jackson and put them in the
same class. So if I'm looking at their Zona Cardinals
and and Kyler Murray is going was this his third season?
I believe he's going into. If he's going into his
third season, why would we even begin to think at
any point in time that maybe Kyler Murray may take
a step back as a quarterback this year for the
(29:15):
Arizona Cardinals. Right, So, to me, you're talking about in
theory possibly uh a Seahawk dominated division, Because again, if
you do not have a legit running attack. If you
don't have a legit running attack with the Los Angeles Rams,
you're going to have to solely depend on the abilities
(29:36):
of your defense to carry you. And you have to
hope that that Stafford is the guy that you thought
he was coming to a team that is perceivably a
better team than what you were when you were with
the Detroit Lions. So there are a whole lot of
ifs that are connected to can the Rams maintain the
level of accomplishment that they've maintained knowing that you have
(29:58):
question marks what your center and your offensive line, and
you have question marks big time. I mean, you just
went out and got Sony motion, Michelle, but you have
question marks in your your offensive backfield as well. So
you really, in theory, could end up possibly only having
one team, that one team top heavy race in the
NFC Way West, or they could all be good. It
(30:19):
could go either way, right, Yeah, No, it's and that's
why I think it's gonna be fascinating to see how
it all plays out. It is. I'll kick the coverage

Mr Arrington. Well, thank you because you had to look
it up. It wasn't like it wasn't like you looked
at it and told me the name. You had to
look it up to be able to tell me. All right,

(34:00):
details are rolling in on that Dodgers Padres marathon. This
game finally ended at one am Pacific time. It lasted
five hours and fifty minutes and was composed of nineteen
pitchers who threw a combined four hundred and eighty nine pitches,
and there were a lot of fans that stayed and
watched every last minute of it. Here's some more details.
(34:22):
It was sixteen inning, the longest game since eight batters
intentionally walked by the Dodgers, the most since nineteen forty
seven players played in this game out of fifty two
possible zero hits by the Padres and nine innings before
Datis Jr. Stepped up in the fifteenth thinning. And speaking
(34:43):
of that last night during the Ben Mallor Show live
on Fox Sports Radio, the infamous marlins Man was sitting
right behind home plate on his phone with Ben Mallor
when this happened in the fifteenth thinning. Can we get
a little rhythmic chant, marlins Man? How you said there
were a lot of Dodgers fans around you there, that
they're they're fans of the show. There's anyway can you
can you orchestrate this live on the radio here on
(35:06):
a bunch of radio stations. Miles you watch, I can
tell you. Oh no, don't tell me this. Oh no,
we're getting a live update. Did we get a tying home?
It hasn't happened yet on our time. Asion hope they
can take a moment to the Dodger right fielder and
(35:30):
it went. Oh. The comeback was real for the Dodgers
because it finally ended at the top of the sixteenth
when Aj Pollock hit a two run shot for the
(35:53):
Dodgers five three victory at Petco Park. I'm pretty beat,
but you feel a lot better after a win, said
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts. That's got to be demoralizing, right,
I mean, like to get to go that far and
then you still lose after you you know, you steal
some momentum, you hit, you tie it up like that's
got to be demoralizing, losing a game like that. People
(36:15):
love life through my resume, I hear you, man, the
love life is demoralized. I mean, it's just awful. But
you know, you live in San Diego. You're fine. Everything's okay.
I mean, it is a very nice place. Some people
call a paradise on us. They do all right, and Brady,
(36:38):
you might have seen some of this at one of
your charity golf events. Rory McElroy threw his three wood
into the trees near the New Jersey Turnpike on the
nine t at Liberty National Golf Course. He was frustrated
with his shot and his playoff the tea in the
Northern Trust. McElroy said yesterday that he is also feeling
fatigued mentally and physically. Part of the exhaustion is due
(37:00):
to playing as much as he has, but also to
being a new father and trying to balance his work
in parenting given how much traveling he has to do
during the season. Come on, man, you can't blame your kids.
He definitely can't do that. Here's what I'll say. One
of the greatest things about parenting or that comes with
(37:21):
being a father, each sharpens you you. You have to
figure out ways to be more efficient and better because
you wake up every day thinking about someone else besides yourself. Sir,
I hate hearing that, man. That is that is not
the way you go about talking about your struggles with
your profession. You figure it out. You're one of the
best professional athletes in the world. As a golfer, you
(37:43):
figure it. I don't blame it on your kids. It's
very true. Mcarroy is Irish, right, Okay, I only decided
to raise my last child. I ain't gonna lie like
roying a little bit. My wife raised the rest of them.
The last one though, I said, I'm not gonna mess
this one up. I looked at the other three. I'm like,
(38:03):
oh my gosh, I gotta do this. Yeah, I gotta
be present, you know. No, I'm joking. I'm totally joking,
but I'm not joking about being around you know. I
was doing other things, like, you know, working, Yeah, working, Yeah,
that's yeah, that is the thing. You know. Yeah, it happens.
That works. By the way, I'm gonna be uh, we're
