six o'clock Pacific, right here on Fox Sports Radio Morning,
Good morning, everyone, Fired up about fired up about it?
Here everyone, Week three. Week three of the NFL kicks
(01:29):
off later on tonight. We've got the the Panthers at
the Houston Texans. Uh, you've got the two mina Panthers
and the one and one Texans. Which team will be
more surprised by Caroline or Houston Houston? Yes, yeah, I
mean even though Carolina is is unbeaten, and you know,
(01:50):
I wouldn't expected that. I just think that the competitiveness
of Houston is very very surprising to me. I I
and not think that they would be competitive in games,
not this early at least, and you know, there's still
a lot of season to go. But I still thought
that the way that Tyrod Taylor was leading this team. Uh,
(02:11):
the job that Dan Culley has done so far is commendable. David, David,
excuse me, call Don Little Danny coach Coach Cully. Well,
I mean I'll leave it, That'll leave I really had
(02:33):
a great comeback and I'm not even going. I'm not going,
but yeah, Houston for me, I, um, I kind of look,
it's the NFL, so I thought they'd be competitive. Um
I even thought there's a chance that it would end
up with a one on one record. It's to me,
it's more Carolina. I didn't see them being one of
the teams that would look as as good as they have.
(02:55):
And I know they haven't necessarily played anyone, but Sam
Donald looks great. He looks like he's almost reborn, if
you will. The defense has continued to grow and take
another step. So I look, I think that what's been
surprising to me is if you look at the NFC South,
obviously Tampa's the top of that division. I thought Atlanta
(03:16):
was gonna be the other team to kind of surprise
a lot of people. Clearly I was wrong there, and
it looks like it might be Carolina. I mean, go
through their schedule, look at their next four or five
six games, it's pretty winnable. Like this team could potentially
be like a two lost team at the halfway point
of the season. So that's that's been surprising for me.
(03:38):
I think they win to night to you. By the way,
I just don't know if they cover that spread defenses
their defenses and I mean, oh but you do's not
playing gross Mazos won't be in this one. Yeah, but
there's still a pin stateror that's dictating what's going on. Now.
We won't have a pin stater on the field and
EA tour, but we do have a lead guy, the
(04:01):
lead dog, who's calling the plays and leading this outfit.
Do you realize we were in the same linebacking room.
I actually used to sit with him, um my freshman year.
That was his last year in school. Matt Rule, that is,
I'm speaking of the hit coach of the Carolina Panthers. Yeah,
he was a linebacker at Penn State. Why do you
why don't you have Matt Rule in the show? I mean,
(04:24):
call him right now? What the hell are we doing?
Why don't we have on the show? Come on? Man?
By the way, Matt Rule has actually been on Fox
Sports Radio before. Anthony Gargano is a weekend host here.
He's awesome and him and Matt Rule have a relationship
because Rule coached the Temple and so Matt Rule would
come on all the time with Gargana. So the fact
(04:46):
that Gargana can get him on the LaVar can't really
bothers me. It's never asked me. You didn't put it
in there. Look, they showed him, shown him on television.
Now you never asked me, can you get Matt Rule
onto the show? Had I been asked, I would have
reached out. But yeah, I mean, the point of my
(05:06):
story is is that you know, he is a super,
super knowledgeable dude like he was. He was never a
great player like he was. He was a special teams guy.
UM took pride in what he did, but the one
thing that he brought to the table was his football,
(05:26):
like you was major. And it's interesting because a lot
of times, again not to make this about me, but
a lot of times I was accused of being a freelancer,
someone who didn't understand football. I just went out there.
It came natural to me, and I made plays as
an athlete. And it's interesting when you think about people
that have impacted your life in your career. My rookie
(05:48):
and my freshman year UM Aaron Collins and and Matt
Rule were the two guys that I sat under and
and just learned how to take notes, how to study film,
Like I studied film with my dad because my dad
couldn't run with me, so we did all our stuff
through film. But Matt Rule's ability to dissect and break
(06:10):
down tendencies of offenses enough teams was impeccable and and
it's interesting because that is a lot of his DNA.
You see the DNA of what this Carolina Panthers team
is and the reason why I think they will win
the tonight's game. He is still really seemingly good at
breaking down what it is that you can He can
(06:34):
dictate and force offenses, even at the NFL level, to
actually do some of the things that he wants to do,
to create turnovers, to create sacks, to create opportunities. So
I like what he's doing in the in the second
year of him being there. I'm I'm I'm proud of
him personally as a teammate, but super super excited for
(06:55):
what he's doing in Carolina. Why was he and I
know this match sound like a dumb question, but why
was he identified as somebody who would work in the NFL?
Because you hear this all like Kirk Ferrens for years
was a guy. Oh man, if he ever came over,
he would work in the NFL. We're hearing the same
thing about Matt Campbell. Now, why was Matt Rule a
guy that was discussed even though I mean he's got
(07:17):
no national championship on his resume. Why was he a
guy that they talked about that guy will work in
the NFL? Bryant, we heard about Brian Kelly for a while,
that Brian Kelly would be a guy that might work
in the NFL. What what was it about Matt Rule
that was going to work in the NFL. He was
with the Giants for a year, he had he made
a really big impression in UM on everyone who was there.
(07:40):
I mean, he's been viewed as being extremely sharp, So
that was that. You know, Kirk Ference was on Nick's
Nick Saban's staff back when you or excuse me, Bill
belichick staff back was the Browns. And so you get
a lot of coaches who have ties back to guys
who are in the NFL. And there's that kind of
thought process, right. David Show David Show was originally started
his career with the Baltimore Ravens at one point when
(08:03):
he was getting going. So a lot of people always wonder, well,
David Shiver, look to jump back to the NFL if
he gets tired of things out in Palo Alto, um, which,
by the way, I'd be fastated to see. I'm a
huge David Shaw fan. Anyone who's ever talked to him,
I think you you kind of see his brilliance. You
understand he's got a vision and he would he'd be awesome. Man.
I don't think he's gonna like the start times some
(08:24):
of those games. Well I'm not. I'm not going down
that road right now, but you know, like I I
do think, um, you can you kind of know, right
like when you talk to some of those coaches, you
know you get it. You know, for a lot of
people who questioned Cliff Kingsbury at Texas Tech, if you
sat down and talked ball with him about what he sees,
(08:45):
how he breaks down film, offensively, quarterbacks, any of that stuff,
you you'd step away and go, yeah, you know what
he's talking about, Like that's that's a guy that you know.
There might be some other things that you know you
wanted to improve upon, or hey, he's got to hire
a strong defensive coordinator, which he has in there is
on a right vance. Joseph wants a former head coach.
But a guy who when you talk to Vance, you go, okay,
I can see why he'd be a head coach. He's well,
(09:08):
he's extremely well spoken, he's the same same sort of deal,
has a plan, has a vision. I remember talking to
him to him about Isaiah Simmons, they're outstanding first round
pick from a couple of years ago. He knew exactly
how he wanted to get him involved in the defense.
And now you're seeing him start to kind of take
off with within that group. So he is that that
(09:28):
front seven for them is nasty. But but but you
you see it, You see that when you talk to him,
like all right, that guy sharp and by the way,
like Matt Rule could probably go into whatever profession he
wants to and be successful just because of how he
goes about, you know, communicating his vision for things, his
work ethic, his his ability to kind of cut through
(09:49):
what's most important and prioritize that. Like that's applicable to
anything he would decide to do. So, I mean, all
of this is a just a cute story, and it's
a cute appetizer towards the main course here, which is
Davis Mills is making his first ever career start. Now,
I don't know if you know this or not. It's
on a Thursday night, which you're asking a lot. Thursday
night at home, probably gonna be some nerves. Um, there's
(10:13):
there's there's somebody else here on this show who made
their first ever career start on a Thursday night. And
I know you're thinking, is it you Jonas? No, it's not.
It's absolutely not LaVar h. I was wondering, Yeah, it's
just not night. That's a good point. The only guy
played j V when he was was uh. And so
(10:33):
so here we go Brady Quinn who made his first
ever NFL start on a Thursday night. And by the way,
I'm looking at the box score here he was dealing
al right, dealing a couple of touchdowns, no interceptions, three
yard per rush average because he ran at one time
for three Listen, look at you. You were going head
(10:56):
to head with Jake Cutler for the Broncos. Didn't know
we were we were winning until well color through a
couple of passes. We had a quarterback who laid I
think it was Daniel Graham at the time. No a lot.
You go back and look up this highlight. He literally
like oh laid just like let him. Let Daniel Graham
run up the sideline. But uh, Thursday night, man, it's
(11:17):
a short week. You got really one day to prepare.
And I was told Monday night, so we have our
games Sunday. There was a thought that, you know, we
didn't know what was gonna happen. And then Monday night,
after I was in the facility all day, they told me.
I was like, I was kind of walking out and
I was like, all right, well, I said that this
is you know, it's it's I was excited for the opportunity.
(11:38):
I just wish I had a few more days to prepare,
so you put in a game plan for that one
day you can practice and then you're on your way.
So that's that's what Davis Mills has in front of him.
You know, at least he got some burn time there
last week. I think that will actually help him a
little bit too. Uh, not feel nervous, not feel anxious
about starting on Thursday night. You say Thursday night, start harder.
(12:00):
I hear with this, LaVar. I mean, is there is
there anything this man can't do? And I just think
about it. I mean, you know, a starting quarterback in
the NFL first round draft pick. He's in Chicago there.
He was just talking about he was talking about Matt
Rule being able to do everything, and it's almost like
he needs an intro or something like. He like he
needs like he needs to be introduced in a certain way.
(12:20):
You know what I mean. You should see the Did
you see the picture that I sent you with my
agents sitting next to him, Yeah, I mean he was
just so happy in the presence of so happy. I
don't trust you to just honored. I don't know what's happening.
I did not trust you to he was so happy,
just he was thrilled. I mean, it's not every day
(12:45):
you get to sit next to someone so accomplished. I
hate you. It's like it's like a little kid seeing
Ronald McDonald for the first time. You want me to
take a break, all right, you'll be You're gonna give me.
You're going, Yeah, that's the time, taking a break. You're
not going to see just taking a damn break. This
(13:06):
Come on, man, it's it's too early in Chicago to
go bar hopping. Come on, a good y. Let me
tell you something. The best deep dish pizza in Chicago
is a place called ex checker on WABA watch check
what checker said. Jonas knocks has a sign jersey and
they're on the wall places good by the way home
(13:29):
on the deep day. Did you know that? Did you
know that Mike Mike Dick has closed down in downtown?
Can you believe that Mike dickas restaurant is was so awesome? Man,
when you put your name on a restaurant. After he
stopped showing up, people could have stop showing up. That
was a great place. Man. Was connected right to the
Tremont Hotel down there on Chestnut in Chicago. Man, years
(13:52):
ago you call still go to Shula's though hasn't been
to Chicago like a decade, Just like I was there
twenty sixteen, less five years ago. Nothing's changed that nothing
A lot hasn't happened in this country since then. Everything
is normal in Chicago. They still got it right. And
maybe maybe Pierre still there that break off into the ocean,
(14:14):
everything still find it's still there, just it's it's littered
with human feces, so it's so it's so it's basically
it's basically the venice of the Midwest. Right, that's good,
all right, So at least we have something would say
San Francisco, but that's not me. Some would say that,
by the way, if you if you walk down Venice
(14:35):
and just go hey, bomft thousand people turn around. Can
I give you a quick observation from where I'm at
in Chicago, what I'm seeing as I look into the city,
please do um. It appears like there's there's two General
maidence workers just smoking weed. On top of this, a
(14:56):
couple of left handed cigarettes. I mean, I'll be else.
Those do not look like normal cigarettes. It appears that
they're black mouth. They are not working. They're smoking. Oh,
they're working. They're they're using different organs, you know, like
(15:18):
the brain. There's your Chicago update. That is the brain.
And it's good to have a good to have a
Chicago update. Here the things you discover on this show.
And speaking of which to back, you aren't on your
credit card at the edd of year. First year. It's
amazing because discovers accepted at places in the US to
take credit cards. Learn more discover dot com slash yes
two thousand one Nielsen report limitations apply. All right, it's
(15:40):
coming up next. There is a massive matchup in the
world of football and there's only one man who can
break it down. Some people call him Joel. We call
him Click Class and it's next year on fs ARE.
Be sure to catch live editions of Two Pros and
a Cup of Joe with Brady Quinn, LaVar Errington, and
Jonas Knocks this week days at six am Eastern, three
(16:02):
am Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the I Heart
Radio app. It's two Pros and a Cup of Joe
here Fox Sports Radio. It's LaVar Arrington, It's Brady Quinn,
Jonas Knocks with the here on fs ARE. Coming up
later on this hour, there is a coach in the
world of football who's going to take care of you.
If you are a fan of beer, this coach is
going to take care of you. Will have all the
(16:23):
details on that coming up here later on in the
hour here on Fox Sports Radio. But right now, uh
kind enough to join us live from Chicago. He is
out there on the call for Fox the big matchup
in college football this weekend. It's number twelve Notre Dame,
number eighteen Wisconsin and number one to us. Joel Klatt,
Fox Sports College Football Analysts with us here Joel, it's
(16:47):
a Jonas, Brady and lavarre. What's happening how Chicago? No,
It's it's beautiful. Got in late last night. I can't
wait for this one. It's good to talk with you guys.
By the same same Joel. Is it a different What's
different about calling a game a college football game in
an NFL stadium is are the site lines different? Is
the vibe different? Because it's cut everything's everything is better,
(17:16):
The booth is better, the camera angles the better. Um,
you know, the food is better. But the the atmosphere,
I will say this, the atmosphere tends not to be UM. So,
you know, for just for the conveniences for us on
the call, I think that that that goes without saying.
But I still love going to the college venues better.
(17:38):
I'm I've always been more of a college fan than
I than I have been an NFL fan. Important just
because of the the nostalgia of college football and the
sights and the sounds, and the and the smells, I mean,
all of it is I think better in a college
environment on campus. Um. I just think that the NFL
is is more corporate. Doesn't mean that it's not off them,
(18:00):
because it is. And it's clearly the king of you
know our country, but to me, you know, listen, it's
never gonna happen. Who knows about never, But I would
love part of the reason I'm here on Thursdays because
I just want to go see the campus. So we're
gonna I'm gonna drive down the South Bend today and
(18:22):
meet with the team. And I've never done in person
meetings with with Notre Dame because you know, you can't
do a home game unless you work for NBC. So um,
it's a throwaway question. Not who's taking that, but who
are you going with? Brady? Brady, listen, if you're gonna
(18:42):
if you're gonna go somewhere, you go. You go there
with the favorite son. That's what you do, right because
then you get the treatment. So nice enough to set
us up. And I will say this, here's the tough
part um for Joel. And I've got an idea as
to which game you're calling next week. So here's where
you're gonna come to find out about Soldier Field. There's
(19:03):
gonna be some ancho injuries because it's an awful surface. Okay,
there's that, and on top of it, when you go
back to watch this game, because I know you're gonna
be breaking down the film for next week. The site
lines for the actual game film are awful. It is
one of the hardest things, especially from the sideline to you,
which most quarterbacks like, It's gonna be awful to watch.
(19:23):
So that is the one downside to Soldier Field is
But it's more about the injury potential with how crappy
that field is. LaVar maybe you can speak to that
as well, but also the site lines. So that is
one thing that I do have to I do have
to prepare you for after this week. Is it too
is it too low? It's too low? Yeah, I would
hate that. I would absolutely hate that. I'm gonna leave
(19:48):
Soldier Field alone. I think we all know the stories
about Soldier Field, just like the vet uh Joe. I mean,
looking at the magnitude of this game, Wisconsin is is
in a situation where having a tough loss early, um,
they still are in the top and they still have
(20:10):
the ability to salvage the season as it applies to
the Big Ten. It's very different outlook for Notre Dame
if they're able to get this win. Just I'm just curious.
I know it's big for both both teams, but is
it isn't just clearly this is a bigger game for
Notre Dame to win or or how are you how
(20:31):
are you looking at the magnitude or the pressure that's
been created for this type of matchup. I've been trying
to avoid LaVar making this about the quarterbacks, you know,
because of the transfer from Jack Cone and everything, and
but I think it's bigger for Wisconsin. And it's two fold.
(20:54):
Is that you know, Notre Dame has a lot ahead
of it in terms of its schedule, especially in the
next four or five games, and so even though they
haven't played I would say their best football as of yet,
there's a sense that you can continue to get better.
This is a year in which and I'm not sure
(21:16):
that the fan base would ever, you know, suggest this,
Brady would know better, but this is this is a
year that it feels like you're trying to rebuild the
offensive line, like it's probably not the roster that you're
going to the playoff with, although I still think that
they're a really good team and that if they can
continue to develop, they may have that potential at the
(21:38):
end of the season. But for Wisconsin, this is a
really good defense, and you don't want to waste a
good defense um and just throw away the year two
losses is not obviously good. You can throw the playoffs
out of there, even though they're not a playoff team
in the past. And then from the merch side of things,
(21:58):
I think there's an immensum on a pressure on Graham
Murtz just because he's got to go prove that they
were right. And this program has been a quarterback away
from two or three playoff birds and some really good
teams and are maybe a run towards, you know, the
top end of college football. They thought they had that
(22:19):
with Graham Murtz, so they let Jack go after he
gets hurt, Graham takes over the position. It just hasn't
panned out. So I think that there's more angst. I
don't know about pressure, but angst on the Wisconsin side
rather than the Notre Dame side. One side clearly seems
to be not in a rebuild, but they're developing in
particular where their identity is held in the offensive line.
(22:42):
The other man like, you got rid of this quarterback
Jack Cone for this guy, Graham Murtz, and you've got
a great defense. There's a lot of angst on that side,
I would say Joe Clapp, Fox College Football Analysts joining
us here on Fox Sports Radio. He will be on
the call for the Notre Dame Wisconsin game from Soldier
Field in Chicago this Saturday noon Eastern time there on Fox. Joel,
(23:05):
what is it good or bad? What's been the biggest
surprise for you thus far as we enter week for
the college football season. I think it's that the the
you know, the big bad wolves of college football haven't dominated,
and I think that that's good for the sport. I
think that the biggest surprises is what looks to be
more parody than what we have had in the past.
(23:28):
When we came into the season, you know, the top
you know five teams in the country to start the year,
we're I think it was Alabama, Uh, it was Georgia,
it was Oklahoma, was Clemsoner, it was Ohio State, and
then if you had Ohio, excuse me, Notre Dame in there.
Those schools had made up every single playoff participant in
(23:48):
the last four years except for one, which was l
s U and and that kind of um, you know,
sucking all the air out of the room in college football.
I didn't think was for the sport. These other fan
bases needed something, uh to keep them engaged. And I
think that we have a more engaged fan experience throughout
(24:13):
college football. And that's been somewhat of an a surprise
for me because I thought that in particular, with how
those teams have recruited, I thought that they might run
away and hide again, and they haven't. And I think
that that's good for the sports. So now you've got
just more teams engaged Oregon, Iowa, Penn State, and m
to some degree, Cincinnati, UM, even Florida after a loss.
(24:34):
You've got Old miss They're engaged, b y U engaged,
Arkansas engaged. I think that that's good for the sport.
And I haven't even mentioned Michigan and Michigan State, who
both are feeling very optimistic about their teams here in
the early part of the season. So if you changed
how you feel about expansion, I know Bill Hancock, the
executive director of the College Football Playoff, came out yesterday
(24:56):
and said that they haven't agreed to anything yet, it
does seem like that is what's coming. I feel like
you and I have had this I don't know, debate
or discussion Are you starting to warm up to the
idea of a twelve team expansion. Yeah, so I I did.
I Like Brady, I think it was late last year.
I just it kind of hit me and I totally
(25:18):
changed my position, And it was born out of what
I was just talking about, which was the lack of
interest across the sport. I just didn't feel like the
structure of the sport with a with a small playoff
was doing any justice um to help teams build and
and become something. Because what we had done is what
(25:40):
we've done here, is we've stripped the ability to define
yourself as successful away from college football programs with any
other defining moment than the playoff. So you know, bowl
games haven't don't mean anything anymore, like the Rose Bowl
doesn't really mean anything in January one bowl doesn't really
mean anything at Division championship doesn't really mean anything. Conference
(26:02):
championship doesn't really mean anything because we don't we let
not champions go play in the play It's all about
the playoffs. It's sucked the oxygen way out of the
room in college football. So I did totally change my tune,
and it was in that vein. I think that we
need an expansion so that we can allow for what
happened at Wisconsin with Berry Alfarez. You see in my
(26:24):
estimation there, that's not afforded anybody in college football anymore,
very Albridge. You can't build a program, you know, step
by step, defining yourself as successful for getting to a
bowl game and then you know, doing a little bit
more than that, a little bit more than that, a
little bit more than that. It's if you don't go
(26:44):
to the playoffs, then who cares? And I don't think
that that's good for the sport. So I have changed
my tune and I'm hoping that the expansion does take place.
But I do think that it was right for them
to pause just because what the SEC was doing wing
and trying to play both sides of the fence and
and be in good faith with expansion all the while
(27:07):
talking to Texas and Oklahoma about coming over to the SEC.
I I do feel like they needed to hit the
pause button then just say, Okay, what is this gonna
look like? We can't just allow UM, ESPN and and
the SEC more specifically to get everything that they want
when it comes to the postseason. It will expand what
(27:27):
it looks like, I think it's gonna look a little
bit different than what it would have if we wouldn't
have hit the pause button here with the SEC All right,
what's your interpretation of how the n I L can
play out with what everything you just said? Because to me,
I feel like if you have someone who can directly
impact the recruits and what they're thinking and why they're
(27:51):
thinking it based off of this new ability to generate
and monetize your brand, your name, your image, and your likeness,
that this could create a tremendous shift in terms of
who the elite programs are at least maybe who the
next tier uh, you know, elite schools could be based
(28:13):
off of what what alumni or donors or businesses uh
that are able to structure things the right way are
are able to do. Yeah, I think it puts an
immense amount of pressure on the schools and the donors
and and the people around the schools too, not that
they're the ones having to come up with these deals,
but to make sure that they're remaining creative enough. Now,
(28:35):
I would say that LaVar And and Britty, I would
it'd be interested to hear what you have to say
about this, because you guys were actually recruited right like
I was just a walk on. I have this theory
that I don't know if it's going to come true
or not, because I think a lot of us just
don't know what this era is going to look like.
My theory is that it's going to be more valuable
(28:58):
to be the biggest fish in the pond rather than
go to the biggest pond, so meaning that it would
pay more dividends to go be the best player for
maybe a little bit of a lesser program and get
the biggest in I L deal that that team has
versus being the six five star player on the Georgia roster. Um.
(29:25):
I think in this theory of mind that that n
I L is actually gonna drive some parody. But that
may not be the case with some of the deals
that we're seeing at the big boys schools. When we're
talking about Bryce Young's making a million dollars, which I'm
kind of like, wait, wait a second, hold on, is
he really doing that? Trayvon Henderson at Ohio State just
(29:48):
agreed with RBS yesterday. Um, you know, so it'll be interesting,
you know, Cavon Cavon Thibodeau has got the like the
Nike partnership. So does this make the rich richer? I'm
not sure, Joe, what would you have done? Like, what
would have been your n I L thing you'd want,
you'd love to have. I know we've asked you in
the past and gave some sort of canned answer. Just
(30:10):
give me, give me what you would love to eat
or I would love to have a sponsorship with anything
golfer later back in college. Uh No, that's not like
back in college that would have been Oh gosh, I
don't know, man, I was so, I was so. I
(30:32):
had the blinders up in college. I didn't have a
lot of interest out of outside of just trying to succeed.
See guys here here, let's just be real. I don't
have any talent. So like everything I had to that's
that's just a real moment for you. Huh. So what
(30:55):
I like, any shred of success if you want to
call it that that I was able to have in college,
I had to. I had to like fight and scratch
for it, right, I was every spring I was like, well,
the quarterback positions maybe opened up and can please the
backup beat out Joel Clad and all this. So I
(31:17):
don't know, I don't know. I don't know. It wouldn't
have been a sports it would have been honest, like,
it wouldn't have been uh r e A, yes, I
mean I was. I was pretty like thick back then.
Like maybe maybe Joe, you played baseball though, right, Okay,
(31:49):
So what if somebody came to you and said, we'll
give you a year supply a big league chew you in.
I mean, if I could have gotten at that point
in my life, if I could have gotten the real stuff,
some coping. Joel's got some of the best baseball stories
that are probably not appropriate for radio. Maybe not, maybe not. Joel,
(32:11):
We appreciate it, man. He'll be on the call for
Notre Dame Wisconsin from Soldier Field in Chicago. Get him
on Twitter at Joel Class. Joel, thanks so much man.
Let's do it again next week. Duncan Donuts that wait
wait wait to finish out strong Joel. Good stuff from
(32:33):
Joel Clad There. Be sure to catch live editions of

That's right, Plexico Birds. You can only name a show
with that type of talent on it. Up on Game.
We're going to be sharing our real life experiences loaded
with teachable moments. Listen to Up on Game with Me,
(33:15):
LaVar Arrington, t J. Hutchman's out of and Plexico Birds

two pros and a cup of Joe here on Fox
Sports Radio. It's LaVar Arrington, Brady Quinn, Jonas Knox of
(33:35):
the here on fs are uh. We will be back
on the air tomorrow, same time, same place. It is
a football Friday here on Fox Sports Radio, so we're
looking forward to that. Brady quin on location in Chicago.
Hopefully we've got some more track stories. I mean, listen,
you've given us nothing but quality travel stories multiple weeks
(33:56):
in a row. Now from you traveling with Big newon kickoffs,
and we expect nothing on us on the front would
be what would be that? The highlight of of today's
show was that what we saw on the roof, Yeah,
the left Yeah, Um, one guy's gone. The other one
is still up there? Yeah is he still? Is there?
Still smoke stacks coming off? Yeah, there's he's just taking
it all in. You know, it's a beautiful, beautiful Thursday morning. Here.
(34:20):
What's the weather. It's a little little brisk, Yeah, little
brisk is that you know? They call it the windy
City for a reason. Yeah. They call it a hawk
for a reason. And that hawk is like it goes
right through you, through your bones, through the bone marrow, God,
through all the sales. It touches every single you ever
walked through downtown Chicago. When the wind picks up and
(34:41):
it cuts through the building and you hear it, it hurts,
it's like, yeah, like a hawk like and then it
hits you. Yeah. I mean I can't screech it as
loud as you know, I don't think we want you to. Yeah,
I don't want to do it. Yeah, but I don't
want to do it. I don't want to give anybody
any unnecessary visuals. I mean, alright to sexy. So don't
(35:04):
want to connect. Don't want to connect the screeching hawk
to to the sexiness. That's why, that's why your TV
star mare you go. Yeah, alright, hater Harel right, it
is it is time. Yeah, that's true. I appreciate al right,
it is time or something we do on the show
(35:26):
called this How could you not get to? These stories
are the scraps? And for that we turned it over
to executive producer Lee the Lab to find out what
the hell we've missed so far on the show Lee,
You guys, Portland's state was looking for some fans to
show up to their games, so head coach Bruce Barnum
put an incentive out there for the fans. He said
(35:47):
he would pick up the bill for the SuDS if
fans came out to the game versus Western Oregon and
they showed up, you guys, three thousand fans and he
picked up a bill racking up about fourteen thousand and
five hundred dollars. You had to get about seven d
eight I PA. Lights. They win, they won, They beat
(36:09):
the They beat the Wolves, the Western Oregon Wolves twenty
one to seven. That was an expensive win. You know what,
I gotta give you credit because most coaches would go
only buy light beer if it's on special. Man, this
guy got the If you're gonna buy an elbow bender,
you don't go with the soft stuff that Brady Quinn
drinks stuff the second second we do on the West Coast,
(36:33):
not this, you know, Florida Citrus. He's hated on you.
And in this segment, Brady, did you hear this? Jonas
on the road? He you know what it is because
he likes I p A s And he'll text me
randomly and just send over a picture of it, like
I care. I could give the most part. Yeah, they
do serve serves right, that's right about co I mean,
(37:02):
come on, come on, come on, come on. We should
create her on ip I'm just saying. I'm just saying, yeah, yeah,
it burns on I p A. You know, that's not
a quality name for an I p A. That's a
that's a legit name for an I p A. Everybody
steal that, all right? What else you are you guys?
We discussed whether or not Lamar Jackson deserved to shoot
(37:24):
out from Coach Hardball for flipping into the end zone
on Sunday, Night Football. This is what he had to
say about how he's feeling this week. I'm kind of sore.
I don't want to say a coach because coach probably
would have said, I'm telling about flipping next time. Oh no,
I probably do it again, dude. Pretty cool, dude, This
is not the year for him to do that. Man,
they are snake fit like. It's not the year to
(37:46):
be diving into end zone nation, into building there you go.
Nobody cares. I don't know what flop nation is, but
here's the You know, if he goes down, there's seasons
over forget about it. He just needs to realize that.
So I know he's young enough and he probably feels
(38:10):
like he can still do that stuff, but it's just
not worth the risk. Yeah. What else? Lastly, keeping with
that game, you guys, Patrick Mahomes came to the defense
of his brother Jackson, who went viral this week for
pouring water on a Ravens fan after that loss. This
is what he had to say. Obviously, it's something that
we don't want to necessarily do. Um. There was things
said to him and Brittany that that you don't see
(38:32):
kind of on the clip. Um, but I mean he's
he's been good at at not trying to respond to
that stuff. He takes a lot and uh and he's
usually pretty good at it and he'll learn from it.
And I'm just trying to stay away from those people,
Misty can I mean, so, where's the Mahomes? That was
Louis Armstrong? Do we have mahomes talking at any point?
(38:53):
May Brady? The guy sounds like he's been gargling razor
blades in the last segment of the show. You made
it the entire show without your hater mine. Do you
mean and then you started hating all in the least?
Does it sound like Louis Armstrong? Get out of here.
(39:14):
I'm enjoyed, Brady. I'll talked to you in the morning. Man.
I got to get away from the heys been drinking, Raideez.
