Speaker 1 (00:01):
Is the best of two pros and a couple of
Joe with Lamar Areas, Brady Quinn and Jonas knocks on
four Radio. How the hell we feel in, guys on
a huge NFL schedule release day. You know, Brady's gonna
have wall and wall Coverageohn and throughout the course in
the next three hours towards you. I really don't care,
(00:24):
and I'm looking I'm looking forward to the season opener.
I mean, maybe we can we can derive some things
from these these schedule releases. Like one of the things
that's come out is the strength of schedule, which I
think in college for an NFL is the dumbest thing
because it's like, what does it matter. There's thirty two teams,
(00:46):
everyone pretty much plays everyone at least half the half
the schedule. It's I don't know, I just it's the
most irrelevant thing. But we're like, Oh, the Dallas Cowboys,
they've got such an easy slate. Oh, could this be
the year there with a Super Bowl. I don't know.
I feel like a lot of years we said that
about the Dallas Cowboys because they played the crappy NFC East.
So I don't know, I just I never look at
(01:07):
it and go, oh, strength of schedule. That's why the
brands won't be able to win it back to back years.
I mean, I guess the only thing you would look
at is maybe bye weeks. Where the bye weeks? How
many road games? You know who's got? Here's my prediction
for the bye weeks? What's that? I guarantee you all right,
(01:28):
every single team well the bye weeks somewhere between week
two and weeks seventeen of the NFL season. Run with
that breaking news on Twitter right now the Fox Sports
radio account. According to Brady, he has just predicted everybody's
bye week. There. Wow from Fox again one more time
(01:51):
to Brady, here's what we're gonna bet on. If you
can find this right, go run to a book right now,
search online. Every single NFL team is gonna have a
buy somewhere between after week two and before week I'm
into it. The folks. We am just I mean, don't
don't stick around for eight Eastern time tonight. We just
(02:14):
told you a sneak peek into what the NFL schedule
is gonna look like. Aut just every day it's something more. Man,
It's like right when I couldn't think that you could
do anymore to make it seem like, you know more,
go and pull something like this, and you totally prove
(02:34):
that you can't. Got hot man. Just look at him,
broadcasting professionals. I mean, now, look if he's able to
give us a sneak preview to the NFL schedule release
uh to a tug of Byloa and Tyreek Hill gave
us a sneak preview as to what that connection is
going to look like. Because the video that has made
the rounds on social media. You know, you've also got
(02:56):
the offensive coordinator Frank Smith of the Dolphins being asked
about you know, it's to his arm strength. I'm gonna
limit what you guys can do on offense. And of course,
every this on the heels of that video that people
have been poking fun at because it appears in a
slow motion video that to us, ball was a lot
slower than Tyreek Hill, and so people are are running
(03:18):
with this joke and continuing on. And this just reminds
me of some of the crap we hear from the
NFL preseason and training camp when they start to keep
stats on how many interceptions are throwing in practices and
people use that as an indicator as to why there
could be problems moving forward. I'm tired of it. This
is a non story, but people have turned it into
a story. Fed up with it? Story though? Did you
(03:42):
see the clip? I did not. I didn't see it. Uh,
Jonas can did you see it? Jonas? Of course? Okay,
can you send it to LaVar? Right now? I'll say
my piece, but I'm really curious to get LaVar's take
on this because my first impression was like, alright, T
shirt shorts or other hanging out on that? Also? Oh
oh all right. I mean here's the I don't get
(04:08):
is I think it came from the couple of the
Dolphin's account, yes, which is kind of a hype video.
You know. Well, that's the problem is if that was
the best clip you thought you wanted to produce from
Tah and Tyreek Hill working out together, it's a little
bit so LaVar, if you check the the show text
(04:29):
I just sent you the video from from South Beach,
saw that just wrong with you? I actually want him
to watch it? Why do you have to send him believable?
You guys? Okay, so you're not in on this? Oh?
I know, I will, I will send him out, all right,
I'll send him the the edited version for a time
(04:52):
purposes here. I mean, if that was a setup on
live radio for what you just did, Joan, is this
this is horrible? Like that was that was very low
And here's our listening audience to do what you just did.
All right? He wants to do a professional show. But um,
so the the video has been sent, it's it's about
(05:16):
was it twelve thirteen seconds long? And um you know
they're just they're out there throwing the football or a
two has even gone on like that floppy summer hat.
I don't even know what you call, like a bucket
hat he's got, yeah, whatever you want to call it.
I mean, but but really this is an indicator as
to what the problems are. And first of all, if
anybody's surprised that two of doesn't have the same arm
(05:36):
arm strength that Patrick Mahomes had all those years when
Tyreek first got into the league, I don't know what
you've been watching, Like, I don't know anybody that's going
to have the comparable arm strength to Patrick Mahomes. Who
are the guys out there, Rogers and Josh Allen And
that's it, right, So law of averages would tell you
it's probably gonna be a step back. And now it's
up to you know, Mike mc daniels to figure out
(05:58):
how they can they can figure out a way to
incorporate him to the offense. And this is I'm gonna
defer to you on this one, q because you're the QB.
But it is a warm up. It's a warm up round.
I mean, that's a warm up throat. They are in
warm up. I mean it looks like because I see
the other I see the other quarterback behind him. That's
(06:18):
that's why I went immediately to the just getting warmed up,
because there's another quarterback throwing the ball behind him. I think.
I mean, listen, I'm gonna defer to the QB on
this one because I tell you right now, if I
saw a linebacker looking like some trash and warm ups,
I would say, why would you put that on your
hype video? You know, But I'm not. I'm not going
(06:39):
to take a large offense to this video. I think that.
I mean, yes, he did slow down. It's it's very
clear that it looked like he was having a picnic
all right fifty yards down. Feeling this we did have
to reach back, were fielding punts like he was acting
(07:01):
like he was running away from a punt and then
came back to field it. I mean, it does look
like all those things. Um, but I still remain you're
innocent until proven guilty on this one. That's I mean,
I'm with you too, because I'm rooting for Tah. I
just feel like if that was me and I am
the social media account would yeah, and if there wasn't,
(07:28):
then that's even more interesting of um information herself. All right,
here's what you do. You take one of the other
quarterbacks who's throwing to Tyree Hill, and you show a
clip of to a throwing that it cuts to Tyree
catching and it looks like, all right, it was to
his ball, even though it really wasn't. All right. You
(07:50):
just take, all right, the best throw from Tah and
you splice it together with the best catch from Tyreek Hill,
whether it's from two or not. That's what you do
to help sell this whole thing. And now, because he's
a lefty, uh, the rotation of the football, you don't
think so, you don't think so, I mean, so you
wouldn't use like a Steve Young highlight, like who had
(08:11):
the strongest left handed arm in the history of the Alright,
so Michael perfect Michael Vick. So you use a Michael
Vick throw from back in the day, just assuming the
you know, the football's look a kind of similar. Are
you going to use some Michael Vick's throw in practice?
I mean, there's gotta be a video out there of something.
I mean, figure it out, all right, well, then work
on the background. I'm trying to come up with solutions
(08:31):
here to send these vulgar Texas. What do you mean
do you that's from South Beach? I don't understand what
the problem is, said the guy who has a pogo
stick between? Is that a guy? Uh? Now? Here's I
just so let me ask you this, Brady, because you're
hearing a lot of people out there that are all
of a sudden talking about arm strength. Where would you
(08:52):
put to a nerdy arm strength question here on the
air for the quarterback of the show. Where would you
put to uh in like, in what categor glory? Would
you put him amongst starting quarterbacks in the NFL amongst
arm strength? Bottom quarter of the league, maybe bottom four. Really,
here's what's difficult is he was coming out when he
(09:14):
was coming out. I remember looking at like in the
tape and thinking, he doesn't struggle to throw the football
down the field. And now he doesn't have the strongest starm,
but you hear the phrase like he can make all
the throws. Okay. Well then he got in the NFL
and I was like, man, I don't know if it's
just the wind and it's the way the ball comes
out of his hand. He doesn't have his quite a
(09:35):
tight spiral, so the wind affects it more with it's
in Miami or other places. But it's it's it's not
the same. I mean, he's he's struggled a bit, I
think to maintain that same level of arm strength and
zip on the football. So it's a different ball. I mean,
well a little bit fatter, but yeah, I mean that
that makes a difference. Yeah, but some guys like it
(09:57):
better than the college ball because it feels it's easier
to spin or it's a little rounder. I never liked
the pro ball better than I like the college ball.
I don't know, but but again, you're a quarterback. But
I'm just saying it could be the ball. I mean,
he might not be able to manipulate the ball as
well as he because everybody said he was accurate when
(10:18):
he was in college. That was his thing. Like, nobody
really talked about his arm strength because they said how
accurate he was. Right. So I mean, maybe it's the ball,
all right, what starting quarterbacks in the NFL, does he
have a stronger arm? Then? Come on, come on, I listen.
I'm trying to make him feel better about the situation here.
I'm I'm defending too in this regard. I feel like
we're piling on what what what? What? What? What? Starting quarterbacks?
(10:44):
Does he have a better arm that? In the end,
But see, here's the thing. Just because a quarterback may
have a better arm than too, it doesn't mean that
they're a better quarterback than two is Is that a
shot at Jeff George? That's that's no. Hell no, Jeff
George's arm was ridiculous as magnificent sent arm. And it
wasn't that he wasn't a good quarterback. It was just that,
you know, he he had his ways and and he
(11:08):
you know, collided with the coaches and they didn't get along.
And that was what Jeff George's thing was not that
I couldn't play, But I mean, what if I said,
if I said, who's the better quarterback Sam Donald or
or t A, I mean I would assume that too.
I would assume that Donald has a better arm strength
than than TWA does. But that's misleading. If I say, oh, well,
(11:30):
Sam Donald doesn't have his good an arm or whatever,
and and somebody says, well, yes, he does have a
bigger arm, that does not create the discussion of Darnald
being a better quarterback than to A. So that's misleading
to go for who has a stronger arm than than
two of the question is can can they run an offense?
(11:51):
And and and Q hit on this? Can they run
an offense that that is fitting to what to A
skill sets are If those are shorter passes than those
are shorter passes. If if trek Hill can get open
and two under throws him, then trek Hill is getting
paid a whole lot of money. I mean, for what
(12:12):
it's worth, you're getting paid a ton of money. If
he has to adjust back to that ball, adjust back
to the ball, it wouldn't be the first time he's
out running ball. I mean, he's the cheetah. So if
he's gotta adjust, he's got to adjust. They have to
figure out how to adjust, and that's what's gonna make
it work or not work. The inability to adapt and
to adjust to what you have is going to be
(12:34):
the whole key to all of this to me. To me,
I'm looking through all the quarterbacks might have. He's probably
got the weaker start all the starters. Just being honest,
I see a lot of their games because he's local.
I mean, I think you have to get into some
of the backups. Like he's probably got as strong as
Tyler Huntley from what I've seen. I mean, you know,
(12:55):
it's odd is is Tannehill is a bigger guy. It
never comes off like he has a strong arm though.
Um yeah, but he's a great mentor so so, I mean,
who cares about you're in a mood this morning? Okay,
how about compared to Mac Jones. Does Mac Jones have
(13:15):
a strong arm? Oh, I don't. I think it's efficient.
I don't know that. Like like Mac Jones, Teddy Bridgewater,
Tyler Huntley, like those are guys that I think you
could throw into that conversation. Jimmy Garoppolo, here's the question
for you. Remember that Monday Night game where Mac Jones
to the ball twice because the wind was so bad
(13:37):
and the conditions are so bad at Buffalo with Ta
tug Involo had gotten more passing attempts than mac Jones
in that game because you would have thrown with the
wind for half the game. So yes, okay, So so
I guess he's got a strong arm the mate. That
was also because and if you recall from that game, um,
the Patriots knew they could run all over the Bills
and that was where remember post game, you know, there
(13:59):
were questions about I think what was a Micah Hyde
who got asked by the media and he got pissy
about it. Yeah, well, basically because the Patriots said, we
don't need to throw. We're challenging your manhood of whether
or not going to stop the rushing attack, and they
could Oh man, I think I think Tyler Hanike, you know,
falls in that category. Even though wins is the guy
that Roethlisberger at the end or breathe at the end.
(14:21):
That's one put about Peyton Manning at the end. That's
that could be in there. I mean, all right, so
he's got a better around the Peyton Manning at the end.
So you just lea in small print, you put at
the end after that statement, and that's how you make
to feel better. But nonetheless a stronger arm. I'm looking
like I would say, GINO, it's got a stronger arm.
Sam Donald's got a stronger arm like Zach Wilson. I
(14:42):
think does have a stronger arm. But that might be close.
I mean stronger than Cooper run might be clothes. I
mean I listen, well, maybe two and needs to make one.
Maybe that'll need everybody. Be sure to catch live editions
of Two Pros and a Cup of Joe with Brady Quinn,
LaVar Arrington and Jonas Knocks week days at six am
(15:04):
Eastern three am Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the
I Heart Radio app. Right now, we turn it over
to our guy, Albert Brier, senior NFL reporter at the
mm QB. You can get him on Twitter at Albert Brier.
Albert happy NFL schedule release, Dave. Brady Quinn has been
all over the coverage of this for us for the
past couple hours. I know you're excited about the schedule
(15:26):
release coming up later on tonight. Yeah. Can you stand
up right now, Albert or are you too excited? Business?
Today might be the dumbest Come on, come on seriously,
like there's like I honestly like this is like I
love football, and you know, I mean, Brady, you and
(15:48):
I've done stuff together for a long time. You know.
I love football. I love the draft, I love training camp.
I like the Minutia football. I cannot get excited about this.
It's just it seems to me to be like the
It seems in my mind to be the dumbest thing
that we do covering the NFL. Wow. I mean I
love it. I mean I love the schedule release. I
(16:09):
love everything about it. I love what it represents. It
lets me know what I'm going to get excited about
when I want to get excited for the Albert. Let
me ask you this. Do you know any of the
schedule that hasn't been released yet? Um? I actually don't.
I probably will later today, but I don't. I don't really,
(16:31):
I don't really pursue it, you know what I mean.
If I pursued it, I'm sure I could find out.
But I don't. Really. Like I said, I I just
it doesn't matter that much to me. It was It's
not a part of that. It's not a huge part
of my week. I'm sorry. I I wish I give
you guys something better than this, but I I just
I have a hard time. Now. You know what's interesting
to me, It's like how it comes together, but I
(16:52):
kind of like the story behind, like how they put
the whole thing together and all of that. Like I
think that's interesting because it like kind of incorporates the
business elements of football and everything else, the business elements
of the NFL and um, you know why things are
going in certain places. But you know, just seeing a
list of games, I mean, I don't know. I it's
(17:13):
just one of those things for me where I can
see if I was a fan, where would be cool
to like be able to plan out, like hey, like
I'm gonna do a guys trip this weekend and this
other weekend. I'm gonna bring this body of this game.
Like that stuff is fun and everything else of your fan.
But for me personally, just from my seat, I just
I have trouble getting worked up over unbelievable. I mean,
(17:35):
can you give us some predictions, like when do you
think there's gonna be supplies or um do you think
I said this certalier, I'm positive that the packers of
barras gonna play each other twice this year. Anything else
you will throw out there is a prediction. I I
predict the Jets and Patriots will play twice. And I
also think I'm gonna go off the board here a
(17:56):
little bit. The com manders the first year of the commanders,
they'll get the oh wow, that is why they called
you Albert Brier, like the guy that's in the business.
Let me throw this one out at you, a b
In terms of the post uh, the post excitement or
(18:20):
the post mortem of of the draft for these teams,
has there been any any type of narrative that has
started the kind of unfold or present itself that a
team that may have not done as well as as
you know anticipated or just just wasn't considered to be
good last season, maybe in the right direction post draft. Um, Yeah,
(18:48):
you know, I think you know, like there are a
couple of teams that, like when you look at them
and you say, okay, like they got really good value.
Like the Ravens look like a real bounce back team
to me because they had so many injuries last year. Um,
and they obviously lost all those games at the end
in a row to finish the year after the bottom
fell out, um, you know, and they'd just I mean
(19:09):
by the end of the year they were a mash unit.
And so UM, I think bringing in like the number
of guys who I think he'll be ready to play
right away, Um, it's huge for them. You know. I
think Kyle Hamilton will be able to find a home.
He went to the right place, no question. I think
he has to be creative with him. But I think
he's somebody who played a lot of football in Order Dame,
and he's gonna be ready to go right away. Tyler
(19:29):
Linderbaum there the center from Iowa, he would think he'd
be ready to go right away. And maybe they get
up something from a jabo like you know, in November
or December, whenever he gets back from the Achilles. And
so you just like look from a value standpoint at
what Baltimore did, and they they've really positioned themselves to
bounce back in a very big way. Um. Other than that,
(19:51):
you know, I I would say, you know, like if
you look at the Jets, I just think from about
again from a value standpoint, and I'm not I'm not
saying like I you know, I watched every minute of
tape of these guys. But the way I kind of
like judge it is, did you get guys like where
it looks like that was like like just based on
all the conversations I've had, like that's really where that
(20:14):
guy should have gone, or maybe even a little later
than that guy should have gone. And I just kind
of look at what Joe Douglas has done there in
prioritizing premium positions and going and getting Sauce Gardner, who
they think can start day one for them at corner
a Weeknit's a premium position. You put him day one,
(20:34):
he's your starting left corner um. Garrett Wilson, you know
that that that to me is an investment in your
young you know, your young quarterback. Uh. You know Jermaine Johnson,
who I think was like a top ten, top fifteen
talent um falls out because he didn't do as well
in his pre draft meetings with some teams. But they're
able to scoop him up at the bottom of the
(20:54):
first round and then you reinvest again in your young
quarterback and getting Breece hall Um in the second round.
And so you know those to be the two teams
I think the Ravens potentially is a bounce back. And
then I think Joe Douglas has flip the Jets maybe
in a position to to break through now where I
think he's got both lines of scrimmage where he wants
them to be. And now it's really gonna be kind
(21:15):
of up to the young quarterback, Like how far can
Zach Wilson take them? Albert Bridge joining us here on
Fox Sports Radio, senior NFL reporter at the MMQB. You
can get him on Twitter at Albert Breer. Albert which
quarterback going into his second year has the most difficult
task this season? I don't think there's any questions justin fields. Um,
(21:36):
you know, you look at the other ones. Obviously Matt
got into Uh you know, MC got to a great
start in New England and they weren't super aggressive this offseason,
but they were a playoff team last year. Um. You know,
I think Fence they overpaid um for for Brandon Sheriff
and Christian Kirk, but they invested. You know, we just
talked about Zack Wilson. I think the Texans are gonna
(21:58):
be better around Davis Olds this year. Um, and you
know Trey Lance, like at the very least is in
a great situation with the team that's consistently competed on
championship level the last few years, and Justin Field is
sort of part of a tear down now, you know.
And I'm not saying this is a shot at Matti
eberf looser Ryan Pace, but you know what they're doing,
(22:20):
it's pretty obvious that they think this is gonna take time,
and um, they didn't feel like it was smart to
go forward with, you know, a core that won twelve
games a couple of years ago but really is starting
to age out. And so I think what the new
Bears group did was smart. Um, I think it was
(22:41):
time to kind of rip the band aid off and
start over and building the roster up. You know, the
issue now is you got a young quarterback going into
the second year of his rookie deal and you're gonna
need answers on him, um two years from now. And
so you know, the question now becomes for the Bears,
can you build that roster back up fast enough where
(23:03):
you're gonna be able to clear answer on who Justin
is within the next two years. Albert I want to
switch I want to switch gears a little bit and
just ask you about the status of Deshaun Watson, Like,
what are we waiting on in regards to what's gonna
happen with a suspension or not? I mean, to the
best of my knowledge, are they just trying to prolong
(23:23):
this decision in the event that they settle or is
this more of a byproduct of what's happening and on
the you know, from the legal side of it. I mean,
I feel like a lot of that talking conversation has
died down. Yeah, I think it's really the legal side
of it, Brady, Like, I I think, you know, at
this point, the NFL would rather not um beat the
legal system to the punch um. And you know, I
(23:45):
think they've gotten themselves in trouble doing that in the past. Um.
And if you look, and I know there are examples
from you know, eight, ten, twelve years ago where they've
you know, made rulings and suspended guys before the legal
process was complete. Uh. But they've gotten themselves in trouble
enough times doing that, um and put themselves in tough
positions enough times doing that where if you look over
(24:07):
the last few years, generally speaking, they've allowed the legal
process to reach this conclusion before making any sort of ruling.
And I think that's where you know, July one becomes
a really key date because they've already said in the
courts that there's gonna be almost a moratorium on activity
in that case and in the in the cases the
(24:28):
twenty two lawsuits. Um, if not if nothing's done July one,
and they pick it back up after the NFL season ends,
and so like, I think if there's not some sort
of resolution by July one, the likelihood becomes the league
might wait too and make a decision on a suspension
in early three rather than before the two seasons. So
(24:53):
I'm not saying it's impossible that they make some sort
of ruling um absently absent legal resolution scan, but I
just think based on the recent history. And then you
see the commissioner's statement at the owner's meetings in March
where he said we're not using the exempt list here.
And I think all the tea leaves, if if you
(25:15):
read them, it will lead you to a place where
you can make the between you can kind of make
the prediction like if they don't have a legal resolution
July one, there's a pretty decent chance to Shaun Watson
plays the entire two season and then if there is
a suspension, it comes in why why has has has
it come out yet as to why Cleveland continues to
(25:41):
hold on to Baker. I think it's money as much
as anything else of our Um, you know, I it's
how much of his eighteen million dollars are you willing
to take on? Um if you're Cleveland, to go and
buy a draft pick and get him off your team. Um?
You know. To me, it's the reason they haven't been
able to move him is because of that, is because
(26:03):
that numbers there and it's not like he doesn't have
value around the league. Um. You know. I said this
on Rich Eyes and Show the other day and it
got circulated. And I don't mean it as a shot
at Baker, but you know, I think if Baker was
a second or third round pick, which I mean, I
think you can look at him now and reasonably say
maybe that's what he should have been, we wouldn't be
looking at him as this like face plant failure, you know,
(26:26):
Like I think we would be looking at him as
like a pretty good NFL quarterback. And so he's not
a top ten quarterback, but I think he can be
a starting quarterback in the league. The question is whether
or not there's a seat out there for him. And unfortunately,
by the time Deshaun Watson was traded um and we
found out that he was gonna be a Brown, the
music had stopped on the quarterback carousel and there wasn't
(26:50):
an open seat there for Baker. And so I think
if like there was an open seat out there for Baker,
then somebody would be willing to take on that number.
But nobody's gonna be willing to take on that number
if it's just gonna be throwing him into a quarterback competition.
And uh so, I think for the Browns right now,
it's gonna come down to do we wait and see
(27:10):
if there's an injury somewhere and someone gets desperate and
comes in trades for Baker, or do we just want
a resolution now? And that would probably mean eating a
whole bunch of his money and in essence buying a
draft pick back Alber go ahead. No, I'm just gonna say.
I mean, they've already spent two or fifty million guarantee dollars, right,
(27:32):
it's like you want to spend a little more. Well,
I mean, I mean guys like Seriously, if I'm if
I'm Baker and I want off the team, you know
what I do? I show up, I show up to
the offseason program. Like there's nothing that would make this
more than that if he's and if he's a good soldier,
Like I mean, what's like, what what's the harm in
(27:54):
that he's showing other teams? Like all he's gotta do
is say like, hey, I just want to play football.
I'm gonna show up here, I'm gonna work out, I'm
gonna go out in the practice field. You naturally make
it awkward on the Browns who are already dealing with
a lot. You sort of forced the Brown's hand, you know,
doesn't that potentially put him at risk though for contrduct
contraduct detrimental if he does something that's or gets into
(28:16):
something or him into Sean Like that's where I just
I think there's a risk there that you're not factoring
in because they're already looking for a reason to get
out from the money. No, I know, but I mean,
like I I just think you showed up in here
a good soldier, you know what I mean? Like I mean,
like say, say you get hurt, you know what I
mean like, well, say he has to sean to you know,
(28:38):
go out for lunch and then maybe go get a
massage after, like and that starts to fight. I'm saying
could be a problem. It's just I just don't know,
(29:00):
is you know this is uh sorry sorry sorry put
the put you in that spot there, Albert, This is
all right, I'm all right. I'm just just remember where
that great opportunity you could be the third guy in
that you can kind of witness Albert. Albert. Just remember
this when you're watching those Wendy's drive through commercials and
(29:20):
Brady's on him that this is the guy making these
jokes and those by the way, Albert Jonas is so
jealous of that. He's doing his best on radio to
make sure that Wendy's never allows me to be in
a commercial. That's not true. That's not true. Come on,
My needs is a good Columbus, Ohio business. Yeah it
is um Alright, Albert, he is a great Albert Brier.
(29:42):
Before I let you go quickly, we got about thirty seconds,
and I know you're gonna have a ton on this.
I'm not even sure thirty seconds is enough. Who do
the ram? Who do the rams? Play Week one of
the season opener Buffalo. Yes, yes, yes, we called that,
Yes we called that. We did Albert, we need mean
thirty seconds? How about that he does know something? See
(30:03):
he knows he knows the schedule. I honestly don't like.
This is the one thing I don't. I pursue a
lot of things information wise and everything else, I do not.
There's one thing I do not person I mean, just
tables on fire and buildos being thrown onto the field.
And we wanted the NFL season. Who's not? Oh man,
(30:24):
I hope Bill. That would be great if like Bill's
Mafia just took over. So far, the Los Angeles fan
base doesn't want any port of I'd be I'd be
all for a buildo landing on the field. The problem
(30:45):
is is, like I think the Rams fans might be
excited about that too. It's like it's like Bob bobblehead night.
It is. Get him on Twitter at Albert Breer, Albert,
we appreciate it. We'll do it again next week. Thanks. Thanks. Alright,
you guys, you guys can't tell me that getting an exclusive. Albert,
(31:09):
you could call to sit down. It'll be a lay down, Yeah, Baker,
and de Sean. I'll get a massage. I mean he
could witness the whole thing and an interview. That would
be amazing, would be amazing, That would be amazing, It
would be amazing. Come on, no long time. Yeah, I'm
(31:32):
not putting Albert in that group. I'm just saying, to
be from a journalistic standpoint, it'd be fantastic. Gotta desharn.
Watson's voice is really high there. I don't know what
that is talking about almost. Thank you, Jerry to appreciate it.
Live live by the way, live from a brothel and Ensinata,

a favor and listen to Straight Fire with Jason McIntyre
(32:37):
on the I Heart Radio app, Apple Podcast or wherever
you get your podcasts. A lot of shenanigans. Somebody has
really taken center stage with a lot of negativity and
a lot of attacks on many people in the world
of sports. Wow. I mean, I just bus just drive
by LaVar, I just got went over. It was very aggressive, Bro,
(33:02):
you got pushed. How do you know I'm talking about
Brady Who? I mean? It's a tease. It's a podcast tease. See,
that's what passive aggressive people do. What are you talking about?
The flat I know that, I know that you guys
(33:22):
that Callie did. Man. I mean, I'm telling you, it's
a rite of passage in California. Man, learn how to
be passive aggressive. That's what I've learned since living out here.
I'm trying to fight it. I'm trying to resist the
temptation of becoming a passively aggressive person. But it just
seems to be the thing. I don't know trump to
(33:43):
join in man, you know where I come from. You
just shoot from the hip like I hate you, I
love you. I think you're weird, I think you're awesome.
I think you're a little bit of over zealous. I
I don't know, but you just say what it is.
It is like you know out here, it's like, uh, yeah,
(34:08):
you got a guy. He's been offensive to everyone, he's
been gunning out everyone all morning long, and well you're
going to find out who it is at the right
point in time. It's I mean, I don't know why
we have to throw so much shade here on the show.
I'm just trying to do. Look, listen, I grew up
in the Midwest. I don't know what you guys are
referring to. This is not my not my jam. But
(34:28):
you know, for those of you listen a Waking up
on the Blowtorch and five Sports, can I ask you this,
You always advertise this Midwest upbringing. That's an absolute lie.
But don't you feel like the West Coast people who
listened to you or have listened to you for years,
are like, why don't you claim us? It depends Yeah,
(34:51):
it just depends that too, But but they don't really
care to have Jonas claimed them. They probably are happy
that he doesn't see I mean right there that that
right there, that's Calie. That's at that point you know what.
That was California, But but that could be Pittsburgh because
I could really mean it. Well. You know what, though,
I don't care where we are in the country. I
(35:13):
think everybody should claim you, LaVar, because you are a
gem and I think that you bring the show. Is Callie,
what do you mean that is? I'm killing with kindness
here on the show. I can't killing with kindness. That's
that's being passive aggressive, because everybody knows that you run
the show, Joe, and it's like, I don't we know
that you do the killer teases and set the topics up.
(35:36):
Let it rip and you needle needle I wagonized me
and yeah, and I just I don't know I wind
him up, which made that a very very very passive
aggressive statement that you just made. All Right, Can I
ask you guys an honest question, though serious question. I
know we've been making fun of, most notably, Brady's been
(35:57):
making fun of the NFL schedule release, Albert Brier, pie
old On and and basically dropkick the NFL schedule release
and mocked it as well too. Uh, and we have
not had any other games that have been released over
the last several minutes. Usually the eight o'clock hour Eastern
time is when they dropped some of these, but apparently
we're waiting until eight p m. Eastern Time for the
full schedule. We're not going to get you any more
of these leaks throughout the course of the day, or
(36:17):
at least not right now. Let me just ask you this,
how do you believe the Cleveland Browns are going to
be featured this upcoming season? With Deshaun Watson and all
the other things going on there, and his his background
and the massages and the scandal and all that stuff.
Do you believe that the NFL is going to just
ignore all of that and put him in a major
(36:40):
spotlight in a bunch of primetime games with the Cleveland
Browns this season. Do you think the NFL is just
gonna overlook all that stuff and throw them in prime time?
I don't I think if they have prime time games.
This is a great question. It's a great question because
I would almost if I was the NFL, and there's
so much uncertainty one about well, I mean they should know,
(37:02):
by the way about whether or not, like the like
could of whether or not he's not suspended. Um, I
think you save them until maybe you have one or
two in the early in the season, and then you
save a bunch for the end where you've got flex scheduling.
So you've got some four PM kicks that divisional matchups,
(37:22):
right we all we all know those come into hand
towards the second half the season, end of the season.
So whether it's the Baltimore Cincinnati, like any of those matchups,
you put them in a four PM window and then
you give NBC the opportunity to flex them into that
primetime window on Sunday night. And I think that kind
of saves or reserves that right for hey, whether it's
(37:44):
whether it's if he's suspended or not, or even if
the Browns already good or not, like we're assuming he's
gonna come in there and help, what you know, create
a better team than what we saw, you know two
years ago, right with with Baker when you took him
the playoffs. So I think you get maybe one or
two early and then maybe you get one late, you know,
hoping for that risk, and there will be some other
(38:05):
flex scheduling that they could potentially throw in there, but
I would be shocked if it's more than at most three,
and I think two two and three is there over under.
If there was a betting odds, I'd put it to
it a half. I think that's a safe play in
terms of primetime game primetime games just because you're a
risk of if you put them on Monday night Thursday
night and all of a sudden he's not playing, that's
(38:28):
a hard sell. That's a big risk your taske see
if it's backloaded. If the schedule comes out and the
Browns primetime games, to Brady's point, are backloaded, then somebody
knows something and is anticipating there's going to be some
sort of a suspension early on, because it wouldn't make
any sense that this is the biggest story the off
season and they're nowhere to be found early on in
the year. That would tell me that they know there's
(38:50):
a suspension coming. We started Albert and he's saying that
it's not gonna be maybe until so I almost wonder
if like you have those games early in the event
that something happens during the season or late in the season.
I just think that this is an entertainment business. It's
(39:12):
there's entertainment value and the one thing that the NFL
has mastered through the Sable family NFL films just telling
a story and and and the idea of how polarizing
and provocative and and just entertaining. The whole Deshahn Watson
(39:35):
story has been I think, whether he's playing or not,
depending on on where Cleveland is in terms of okay,
if it's early on, they're not bad enough for it
to not be a storyline that matters and can drive
that game. Like you may tune in and tune out
(39:58):
because Cleveland isn't good because you know for one reason
or another, or Deshaun Watson isn't playing, but that storyline enough,
used correctly, will draw in enormous amount of viewership and
interests whether he's playing or not. Now, if he is playing,
(40:20):
you gotta assume that that again, they're going to want
to leverage what DeShawn has or hasn't done, and and
so to me, depending on what the storylines are, which
I think they will, you know, probably play it safe
and how you're you're leveraging this storyline and how it
applies to him and how it applies to the team
(40:43):
and the matchup. But I think strategically speaking, if that's
a if that's around, that's in your gun to be
able to to to attract viewership, you would be foolish
to stare clear of it or to wait until he's playing.
I think that's something that you leverage immediately. You leverage
it early on whether people like it or not, because
(41:06):
that people the people that like it in terms of
let's move on from it. We don't really know what happened.
We don't know, you know. All we know is is
that he's on the new team and he's playing, which
means that something there wasn't enough of something for him
not to be playing. You're gonna have that that that
demographic of people. Then you're gonna have the people that
want them to be underneath the jail for the rest
(41:28):
of his life because they felt like for what it
is that they think he did, that that's where he belongs.
You're gonna have that portion of of the population who comes,
and then you're gonna have the people who are indifferent
to it that are just gonna look at it like
it's just another one of these athletes that that have
done something wrong that gets off and and is able
(41:48):
to play because the game is considered to be bigger
than anything else they're gonna be watching as well, which
even though that's kind of an opinion as well, But
I just look at it from the standpoint of I
look for them to be national early because that's the
story that everybody's focused in on, and I just I
don't know if the NFL gives a crap what anybody's
(42:09):
opinion of it is like, because they they've always got
an answer for Look, everyone gave the NFL a hard
time when they were like trying to put together a
plan to work through COVID. It's like, oh, boy, doom
and gloom this this league doesn't care about player safety.
That got Dennis Dodd didn't write death in the NFL
like it in college football. Yeah, you want to You
want to fill Lavarn on that one too. Oh, Dennis
(42:33):
Dodd wrote an article utilizing a I believe he was
like a computer scientist or like a mathematics professor at
at Illinois to come up with a model where they
predicted death if college football played during COVID. People would die,
like players would die, And it was like okay, And
so obviously we ended up playing that season. No one,
(42:54):
no players died who were there part of those teams
and all that due to COVID. And he never actually
said anything from that, like you never came back around
and said I was wrong or maybe it was irresponsible
for me to do that. Uh. He just kept moving
on with his life. So I remember working with Bucky
Brooks and him telling me on the area, goes, hey,
they're gonna have a football season. I was like, really
(43:16):
you think? So he goes, hey, let me tell you something.
I'm from the South. Not only are they gonna have
football in the South, there's gonna be people in attendance.
I was like, Bucky, that's kind of a and he
was spot on. Thousands of people and attendance. It's just
it's it's funny to look back on just how a
lot of that was handled different parts of the country.
So now we get to wait to see what they
