This is the Doug Pike Show, brought to you by American Shooting Centers Guns
Shooting at Instruction since nineteen eighty nine. Now here's Doug Pike. Boy.
I'm so disappointed in the Astros.I'm so disappointed. I'm not panicked at
all, Honestly, I'm really not. But I would greatly prefer hold on.

(00:25):
I got to put this over here. I got to get this moved
over to here before it falls offthe desk. I'm getting a little antsy
when things are not where they belongin here. I get a little bit
antsy. And antsy doesn't work wellin here because there are all things that
could spill if I don't wrestling something. Now standby, Okay, that's better

(00:52):
now. I feel a little bitmore comfortable in what I'm working with here.
So I watched the Astros yesterday lastnight and watch them take the lead
on an error by the Rangers andthen summarily watch them give it up and
never get back in the game.Really, it just got worse and worse
the more I watch it. Idon't know why that is. I don't

(01:15):
know. I don't want to blamethe new batting Order. I don't want
to blame any one player or twoor three for messing up. Although there
are little bright light well that's kindof oxymoronic. There are small lights.
We could shine on any of theseplayers and say, you know what,

(01:38):
he's got to do better doing this, or he's got to do better doing
that. There's some base running issues, there are some some slow start in
the batter's box issues. But slowlyand surely it will come together. I
just hope it comes together and staystogether, because when you start off at

(02:00):
too few and too many in thewoods and lost this column, it's a
tough hill to climb out of.This is major league baseball. It's not
little league. It's not pony league. It's not anywhere on the way up
through developmental leagues where eh, youcan get away with a few things,
but if you finally click later on, it'll be okay. I've watched enough.

(02:25):
I've watched enough pee wee ball.I didn't even coach pee wee.
I just couldn't a little four andfive year old, six seven year olds
whatever. It was very hard assomeone who played a lot of baseball to
coach that because they're not ready forcoaching yet. They're just out there having
fun and picking flowers. And thatwas the first home run I ever hit.

(02:46):
Was when I was eight years old, and that was when you could
start playing baseball. And the onlyreason it became a home run is because
the field on which we played hadno fence. This was over at Sharpstown,
a little league, way back inthe back where the pee wee fields
were turns out, they were justthat was just extra ground and they kind
of mowed it down tight in mostplaces. But anyway, I hit a

(03:07):
sharp ground ball to about kind ofleft center and it just went zipping past
the left fielder who was knelt downand picking flowers. And that was lovely.
It was a beautiful day, andI'm sure he was having fun,
but he had absolutely zero attention onthe game that was being played around him

(03:28):
and the other seventeen kids involved. And yeah, it worked out well for
me, and our team cheered, and I'm sure we won that game.
We won most of the games weplayed in most I don't recall, and
just good fortune. I just Ilanded on some good teams. But I
don't ever recall being on a losingteam. I don't, I really don't,

(03:50):
and it might just be selective memory. I'm not sure, but one
way or the other didn't happen.By the way, if you're interested in
the clips, know that, knowthat you have to get glasses. I
talked about this yesterday. I'm gonnagive you another minute and a half lecture
on not looking at the eclipse withyour naked eye or even with sunglasses.

(04:15):
Sunglasses take out some of the badof direct sunlight, but not all of
it. And according to doctor Ibelieve his first name is Dave, I
want to say, but I knowthe last name is Matti Olie. And
I interviewed him for fifty plus thispast week, and he sternly warned everybody

(04:35):
that even a short duration of directlooking into that sun on what is it
tuesday? Or is it tuesday ortomorrow? Adam? Do you know?
Off n what's the day? Belorrow? Yeah? It is today's seventh.
Yeah, tomorrow's the eighth. Andthat's when it is. It's tomorrow.
And if you think that two pairsof sunglasses is enough, you're still

(04:57):
you've already lost your mind and youmay lose your eyes. The correct darkness
of lenses that are okay for watchingthe eclipse, and they don't have to
be expensive either. You can getthese things I think for a buck and
a half at HGB. But theyshould be so dark that if you're standing
inside and you put them on,you shouldn't be able to see the ground,

(05:18):
And if you're standing outside under atree, you shouldn't be able to
see that tree trunk. They arethat dark. Those are the ones that
will help you. And if theyhave a cardboard frame, who cares.
It's not the frame that protects youreyes. It's the lens. And in
this case, it's just a film, a plastic film that is darkened with

(05:40):
so much intensity that you can justbarely see if you look the bright lights
I have in this studio. Whatdoctor Mattioli was saying that if I had
on proper eclipse glasses and looked upat the bright lights that are in this
studio, I would just barely beable to tell they were on, wouldn't
be able to see the ceiling, just barely be able to tell that the

(06:01):
bright lights were on. So ifyou have any other concoction or contraption that
you're gonna put on your face andthink it's okay to look at the the
bright sunlight leading up into that eclipse, and and shortly after it's finished,
think again, or just go aheadand buy a white stick, buy a

(06:21):
stick and a paint, a canof paint, white paint, and just
get yourself ready because you could verywell lose your eyesight over this. Sometimes
it's very minor damage. But everytime there's an eclipse, he said,
the room just fills with people whohave burned their eyes. And it's very
little different. He said. Thenthe sunburn you get on your skin,

(06:44):
you can, you can just youfeel it, you see it, and
your eyes are burned and they don'trecover like skin does. All right,
that's enough of that. Seven onethree two one two five seven ninety is
it's up to It's up to Darwin. Now. It's it's who's gonna look
at it and who's not, andHeaven help you if you do. I
saw a dairy queen sign by theway. That was pretty good, Adam,

(07:08):
you'll like this, the little signswhere they put the letters up there
to tell you there's a whatever. They have a what is that dip cone
thing that they show you got likethe new blizzard or whatever, Yeah,
blizzard something like that. Yeah,Well, it said it's an eclipse,
not an apocalypse. Relax people,And I thought that was pretty good.
Look, I remember the last timeseeing an eclipse was a week before Harvey

(07:30):
happened. Oh no, speaking ofyou know, you bring up a very
good point that I had in mynotes this morning. I did some brief
research yesterday and eclipses. Eclipses tinkerwith not necessarily the weather, but with
the tides, because now you've gotthe Sun and the Moon lined up together,

(07:53):
and there's this double extra pull. And I've heard a lot of guys
lately talking about how low the tideshave been up and down the Texas coast
and can't help but wonder if there'ssome sort of relationship between the ties and
this approaching apocalypse oops, I meaneclipse. It's one way that Now Mojo

(08:16):
pointed this out yesterday, and Ihad forgotten about this because the last time
we had an eclipse a week beforeHarvey, the last time I got sent
pictures of this as well. Andit's really cool if first of all,
we're probably not gonna have much ofa view, because I believe it's supposed
to be pretty cloudy tomorrow, butwhere you can see it, you can

(08:39):
look at shadows underneath trees on asidewalk or a driveway. If there's a
tree over the driveway, you lookat the shadows, and those shadows show
the eclipse happening, and that's prettycool. She sent me a picture actually
of an eclipse shadow has seen througha tree and it's really it's unique.

(09:03):
It's a very unique looking shadow. It's not just standard issue. Oh look
there's the shadow. That that's thetree from the tree. All that stuff,
all right? Seven one three twoone two five seven ninety Email me
Doug Pike at iHeartMedia dot com.I talked yesterday a little bit about about
the new trout rules, and catamScott jumped in because he was at those

(09:26):
meetings and he's been following it farmore closely than I have and talking to
far more people, and he actuallysent me a nice chart that explains it
all very well. At present,of course, we've got the the three
trout a day, fifteen to twentyunless you catch a gigantic monster thirty inch
or better trout, and you canthrow that in your bag and not catch

(09:48):
a fifteen to twenty incher. Howmany people you gonna think are gonna put
three fish in the ice chest. This is my gut tells me this is
gonna happen more often than we suspect. It won't be often because there just
aren't that many giant trout out there, but it'll be hard, I think
once the final ruling goes into placeSeptember one, that puts that big trout

(10:15):
by special tag, and there werethree dollars bonus tag. If you don't
have to carry a license, orif you want another one during the year
or whatever, they're gonna be threeseventeen inch trout in the box. And
now let's just keep fishing a littlebit longer. Okay, Fine, somebody's
gonna catch a giant, an absolutemonster, a thirty one inch fish,

(10:39):
and they're gonna be on that thatnot attractive side. Frankly, a fishermen
who who think it's perfectly fine tokill a twenty eight twenty nine thirty thirty
one to thirty two inch fish specledtrout just because they caught one and they
want to show it to everybody. They forget that they have a phone.

(11:00):
They forget that they can shoot videoon the phone. They can describe the
catch real crank by real crank butthey want to kill it, and they
want to take it back to thedock and cut it up for some reason.
And what they're going to do istake one of those seventeen inch trout
and look left, look right, look behind them, look in front of

(11:20):
them, and then throw it overthe side. And I hope I'm wrong,
but I know I'm not. Andthat bothers me because there are still
just people out there who think thatthat that's okay. And it's once again
if you start talking about we needto do this, and this is for

(11:41):
us collective, collective thinking, collectively, conserving the resource. It makes perfect
sense to throw that big fish back. Let somebody else have that same excitement.
Just take a dog on picture,Take ten pictures. If you want
what the fish mounted, take adozen pictures of it from all angles and

(12:05):
send that to your taxidermis. Don'tsend a frozen carcass because that's not gonna
help you get a better mount. And it won't be any more realistic.
It won't be anymore Actually, itwon't last as long as the fiberglass mount
will. It's the paint job thatmakes the mount. These people, like
I said yesterday, I hope theylearn I hope these people who talk about

(12:28):
they are taking my fish from mewill someday understand that those fish were never
yours. Those aren't your fish,Those are our fish, and most of
us want to take care of them. Most of us want to take care
of them. Seven one three twoone two five seven ninety email me Doug

(12:50):
Pockettiheartmedia dot com. On the wayout, I'm gonna remind you about Carter's
Country and its concealed carry classes, which they do twice a month, alternating
days over the weekends. One timeit's Saturday, two weeks later it's Sunday,
two weeks later after that it's anotherSaturday again. And that's where you
can go up on the Treshwig sideof town, the north side store Carter's

(13:13):
Country Store, where they actually havea nice five star shooting range where you
can go ahead and get your shootingproficiency test taken care of right there on
the spot, right then, rightthere, And don't worry about having to
be a cracker jack shot, don'tworry about anything like that. All you
have to be able to do ishit a basically hit a piece of poster

(13:35):
board at about twenty yards and that'snot that far to hit. It's like
you're hitting half a refrigerator at twentyyards. Surely you can do that if
you're gonna if you intend to saveyour family with a handgun, you need
to be able to do at leastthat and probably better. And if you
can't, they'll help you. Theyhave lessons available, and they have very

(13:58):
compety and capable and patient people thereto make you a good shot. Indeed,
they also have in those stores.I've focused on the concealed carry classes
because they're going to teach you when, where, how, why, what
you can do with your guns whereyou still cannot take your guns in the

(14:20):
state of Texas, to keep youout of legal trouble, and when you
can go shoot and stuff like that. They also in every one of those
stores have a tremendous inventory of everythingyou could need to be a better shot
in whatever shooting discipline you enjoy. If you like bird hunting, they can
make you a better bird hunter, give you, sell you a better gun,

(14:41):
better shells, eye protection, earprotection. All of that is important,
and the same with deer hunting andtarget shooting and clay target shooting,
any kind of firearms and hunting andshooting experience you enjoy. They can help
you enjoy it more. Carterscountry dotcom. His website. You can get
mostly everything in the stores right thereonline as well. Carters Country dot com.

(15:05):
Qu This is Sports Talk seven ninetyay Houston sports fan on air and
on Facebook. He contact back tothe Doug Fike Show. Let me see
if these phones are gonna work.Let's roll the dice, Adam, what
are you betting? I don't havemuch confidence. I'll be honest. I'll
take a hold on fart Heck,no, there you go help me out.

(15:26):
All right, there we go.Hey, Rick, what's hey man?
How you doing? I'm doing great. Hey. Eclipse one of my
favorite and best friends, fishing buddies. My also my eyemn. He hates
it when I call him my eyeman, so I'll call him my eye
doctor. Okay, okay, uh. He loves too. We lived to

(15:50):
go. We know each other longtime. So I've been talking to him
about the eclipse. He said, avoided it. All calls just don't even
take sense with it, said, don't eject it. He said, it's
gonna darken up. And so wegot to talking about So here's how we're
gonna take advantage of the eclipse,we're gonna go fishing at our local bath

(16:11):
pun oh baby, yeah, ohbaby, Yeah, we're going because we're
gonna see what when it darkens upas in dusk, which typically you know,
you know where I'm going with this. You know, they early lates,
you know typically, so we're gonnasee if if it hasn't middle,

(16:32):
we're gonna fish it early in themorning. We may even fish at this
afternoon late church and all that stuff, and then go back at the eclipse.
He's gonna work on the official time. And I think what is at
twelve thirty somewhere in the middle ofthe day, the fisher just these fish
they're bringing tiny they're gonna be thinking, oh, where does the day go

(16:53):
now? Al it's getting dark already, what do you know? And then
an hour ten minutes later they're gonnago, wow, I didn't sleep at
all last night. Well, wejust want to see because we kind of
know we fish it regularly, wecan kind of know what to expect,
and they're off fish. Yeah.Yeah, but you know, from start
to the actual eclipse, from whatI've read, is three or four minutes.

(17:15):
Yeah, you know, at onehundred percent. But from the what
will feel and appear to be somethingsimilar to a sunset to a the sun
comes back out could be several hours, so which makes sense. Sure.

(17:36):
Anyway, we're going to see howthe eclipse had an effect on the fish.
I would love to get a fullreport next weekend, Rick, I
really would. And you're going tothat's just pouring down rain. If it's
just rain, I can handle it. But if it's pouring down rain,
I don't know. Yeah, there'sa difference between rain and gully washer.

(17:56):
Right. Yeah, I'm not afan of go right, and I've got
the gear for it. I hada guy when I played in that media
day deal on Tuesday, I thinkit was this week. He said,
he said, it started to rainone time and some guys and I were
playing golf. Now all got outtheir rain gear, and they said,
why don't you put on your ringgear? He said, I don't play
in the rain, bye, Andhe just drove off, drove off in

(18:21):
his cart. He doesn't even ownthe ring gear. He said. I
got the rain gear, but I'mnot. Uh. I hate to use
the phrase. I don't hate themfish that bad. If I got to
stand in a foreign down rain withlightning around the eye and lightning is that's
that's the switch flipper for me.I'm not staying out in lightning at all.

(18:42):
I've had too many close calls whenI was young and dumb, and
I'm not young anymore, so II think I know better. Anyway.
I think you'd be funny instant tosee how it affects them. We'll see
you out, all right, seeRick audios. Okay, let's click that
one. Let's go get day whilewe're on a roll here, Dave,
what's up man? Hey? Hey, yeah, I've caught some of my

(19:07):
best isshes pouring side rain hit nolightning, yeah, you know, but
I mean yeah, no lightning, you know, but I mean yeah,
but I know yesterday, you know, I've been kind of laying back,
you know, from when I felldown and recruiting my shoulder and everything.
And I was watching that lady's golfyesterday. Girls are good, Yeah they

(19:27):
are. I have something about that, Yeah I do they That's that Women's
Amateur Championship that that Augusta decided itwas gonna run, and boy, what
an incredible event. This holy cow, wasn't incredible event. The woman who
wanted what is hurting. Oh isit? Oh woe? I know what

(19:48):
you're doing? Carry or I thinkit's carry woe. Maybe I've got I've
got it sitting on the printer andI wasn't able to grab it on the
way over here. That's one ofthe things ran off trying to get.
But the bottom line is she nohere, it is right here. I
got it good. I got thisover well anyway, So carried dum.

(20:11):
Yeah. Lottie is her name,Lottie Woade. She's from England and she
she in interviews, has said herintention. She's a sophomore at Florida State,
Okay, and her intention is tobecome the best woman golfer in the
world, which if you're gonna aimam high, you know. So.

(20:32):
She had a two shot lead startingyesterday, actually down to after a bow
get the par five thirteen. Shewas down because Bailey Shoemaker was running up
behind her all day long making birdiesand not bogey. Shoemaker wound up shooting
six under on the day with nobogies and no eagles on her car,
just six birdies and twelve pars toset a final round record actually sixty six

(20:59):
for the event. But d Kindof right of the ship after thirteen and
ended up birdie in three of herfour final holes to get the win.
It's just a fascinating thing. Thattournament's only been around since twenty eighteen,
and already it's that's the one towatch for up and comers in women's golf
for sure. And you know, and what I like about it is,

(21:19):
you know, and like I toldyou that when even the guys and the
gals they do the dance a littlebit. But then even the gals,
I don't know, if you're righthanded, you do your right leg or
if your left hand. Are talkingabout you're talking about the hokey pokey dave.
No, no, I'm talking aboutwhen they're getting ready to Oh yeah,

(21:41):
that's the waggle. Yeah, readyto swing, that's the waggle man.
Yeah, okay. Now whenever theywhen they hit it, then let's
say they're hitting it from the rightto the left and they put their toe
down like they're a ballet. Answer. It's a very it's both graceful and

(22:04):
explosive motion. The golf swing isit has to be graceful to keep that
tiny little club head headed to atiny little place on the face where it's
going to meet that ball. Therehas to be grace in that. But
to hit it out of your ownshadow, to use a little eclipse reference,
you gotta swing hard. And ifall those things don't align, you

(22:29):
look like most golfers. It justthe ball goes in the trees, it
goes in the water, he goesleft, it goes right, he goes
short, along, up, down, You never know where it's going.
And somehow this tiny little bunch ofpeople in the world have figured out how
to swing really hard and still hitit really straight. And I'm so jealous.
Hey, real quick on the whenyou were talking about the bass fishing,

(22:52):
sure like on Lake conro Man,you want back when we used to
have a high driller, what Iwould do is find a high drill patch
and you know you can see throughthe water and everything, and find where
there's a hole there right, hitit with the top water first, and
if you didn't catch them, lendingdidn't drop the worm in there. And
that's about all I got to sayabout that. Oh, I used to

(23:12):
do a lot of fishing up onLake Connor in the year's BC. That's
before carp and that was a grasscrpjust ate that place. The problem was
that the grass was a problem. The high driller was an issue for water
skiers, for sailors, for anybodythat wasn't a who wasn't a fisherman didn't

(23:33):
really like grass in there, thehigh driller and everything, all the vegetation.
So the Parks and Wallach Department decided, Okay, we're gonna put some
We're gonna put some grass carp inthere. They'll slowly but surely eat it
away. And these fish, we'regonna get these tripleoid grass carp that won't
reproduce, and we'll put a finitenumber of them in there, and they'll
just control the grass but not eliminateit. Well, the homeowners Association or

(23:57):
somebody up there up there decided thatif ten per acre was good, one
hundred per acre would be ten timesbetter, and they overloaded that lake with
those grass carp and they virtually wipedout the vegetation in there, and that
did a lot of things to thefishery. I I'll talk about that when

(24:18):
we get back, because I wasI was going to tell you that's where
the little fish hide. Well that'sexactly what happened. Is for a while
After that, the bass fishing suddenlygot great, and we were catching a
bunch of giants out of there becausethere was no place for the little fish
that were spawning to hide at all, and the bigger fish were just wiping
them out. And then it wentthe other way, and suddenly you had

(24:42):
a hard time catching a four pounderout of there for a while because there
was no place for the little fishto hide. And then the vegetation slowly
started coming back a little bit.Yeah, it was a mess up there.
It was. There was a timewhen there were so many grass carp
and competition from them was so hardon all of what little bit was.

(25:03):
They won't eat lily pads, butthat's about all as far as vegetation goes.
And there was a guy who wasactually tying flies out of astro turf
to throw at these fish when theywere coming up. They got trained to
Pavlovian response to come along the bulkheadsof lake front lots when they were being
mode and the people were wasn't agood practice, but they were doing it.

(25:27):
They were shooting their clippings into thelake, and the grass clippings in
the lake were feeding the grass cartFor a while it was crazy crazy.
I remember, Hey, I livedit, you know what I'm saying,
Yeah, it too, I didtoo. Man, Hey, man,
I appreciate you many thanks. Yeah, audios. All right, Yeah that

(25:52):
was some That was a bizarre time. Uh. There was a guy up
there, one guy who God,I wish I could remember his name because
he had a crazy nickname. Buthe was a commercial grass cart fisherman.
And I'll tell you what he wasdoing up there and the kind of money
he was making because he finally concededand let me know, once off the

(26:15):
record, anyway, I'll talk abouthim when we get back on the way
out, I'll talk about black HorseGolf Club. That is gosh, that
is one of my favorite places.Northwest side of town. You go two
ninety to Fryar Road. He hanga south going about three miles down and
then turned west into the gate. And as you turn into the gate,

(26:37):
you'll realize that there's a whole lotof golf around you. You will already
have seen at least one fairway, two fairways, three fairways, and a
couple of greens on both sides ofthe road. By the way Fryar Road,
the course goes the cart path goesunder Fry Road and emerges to a
few holes on the other side ofFry Road. It's a spread out property

(26:57):
with thirty six golf that are allfun to play. They're all playable as
long as you're standing on the righttea box for your ability level, and
you'll have a great time, youreally will. They're working very hard to
keep that place in good shape, and they do a good job of it.
Everybody has challenges all times during theyear around here, but I'll tell

(27:18):
you what, black Horse gives itall. They've gotten. They've got a
good new superintendent out there, they'vegot a new chef, they've got a
new golf pro the ad this year, just continuing to do a good job.
Membership options are available to It's adaily fee facility. They host a
bunch of big tournaments. They havetons of room for everybody to go play.

(27:38):
But there's a membership option that getsyou discounts in the pro shop,
it gets you preferred tea times, and it gets you unlimited use of that
range, which is really handy ifyou want to get really good at making
a bad shot, and then ifyou want to get even better, go
to the far end. Of therange and get yourself some lessons. For
heaven's sakes, play better, enjoythe golf more. Golf is fun no

(28:00):
matter how you play it, aslong as you realize who you are and
what you are, and just takeyour fun shots when you get them.
Black Horse, you got the opportunityto get better and better and better and
better, and then it even becomesmore fun. Make your own tea time
right now, black Horse goolf Clubdot com. That's black Horse Golf Club
dot com. This is Sports Talkseven ninety breaking sports news on Facebook twenty

(28:25):
four to seven. We'll get thatinformation to them. This is the Doug
Fike Show. I thought this upon the way here, Adam, and
I want to get your reaction tojust a one liner. Okay, what
do you call a prison full ofpoets? Oh? Something? Clever it
is, It's very clever. Hellme pros and cons. Okay, that's

(28:49):
pretty good. Doesn't like that one? Top that up yourself too, that's
yeah. Yeah, this is myown, my own weird head full of
garbage. Yeah all right, whatdid we do that? No, we're
good, We're good. I thoughtI was a little behind schedule. So
glad oh by the way. Thegrass carp guy let me go to him,

(29:11):
and then I got some information Ican give you on getting in touch
with me if you don't have myemail saved anywhere, but you do have
a phone anyway, this grass carpguy, we were out bass fishing one
day and rolled up or maybe evilwe might have even been carp fishing.
I don't recall, but whomever Iwas sharing a boat with that day,

(29:34):
one of the guides up there outof probably out April Plaza. In any
event, we've gone and thrown outour range cubes to attract catfish and grass
carp and all that stuff, andthen we were gonna go somewhere else and
throw some more and have a coupleof spots all set so we could bounce
around if they weren't eat at onespot and my gud and I can't remember

(29:57):
which one of one of them itwas. There were a handful of at
least six or eight eight guys Ifished with fairly regularly up there, and
he pulls up on this guy inan aluminum boat. He's got five or
six rods hanging over the side, all all fairly inexpensive but heavy spinning rods.

(30:18):
And what in the world is thisguy doing? And then my first
reaction was he must be a commercialcatfisherman. He's rodding real catfishing for a
living. But he wasn't. Hewas catching those grass carp and he had
some special bait that he had concoctedthat was available in I think he just

(30:41):
sold it in ziplock bags through acouple of marinas. I don't remember exactly
the details of all that part, but I know that he told me later
on the phone that he I don'tremember how many he was catching per day,
but it was enough. What hewould do is catch as many as
he could in today and then driveinto Houston, into parts of town where

(31:07):
that was considered a delicacy, andsell those fish to markets there, to
the little, small, mom andpop neighborhood grocery stores that were scattered throughout
that community. And he was makingI want to say, he was turning
like this is back in the earlynineties, I want to say, somewhere

(31:30):
in there maybe, And he wasturning about four or five hundred dollars a
week just sitting on the lake catchinggrasscrp all day long. Wasn't bad.
He didn't have a fancy truck andtrailer, and he just would put a
few bags of ice on those fishand ice chests in the back of his

(31:52):
truck and haul him down to Houstonand go right back up to Conrad and
did pretty well for a guy whodidn't want to be on the grid anywhere.
There's no telling where that guy livedor whether I don't know, but
he was an interesting character. Thereare so many interesting characters in fishing,
even more so than in golf, because fishing is such a solitary thing.

(32:15):
You don't even have to check inwith anybody to go fishing. Usually you
just either walk in, or youput your boat in or whatever, and
you go fish. And when you'redone, you just button up whatever you've
unbuttoned to enjoy your day and goon about your business. Interesting people,

(32:35):
for sure. I've met a thousandof them in fishing. If at any
time, by the way, you'dlike to send me a message, but
you can't remember my email and youdon't have my cell number any of that,
you can get straight to me alsonow by dialing pound two point fifty.
And this is something we initiated forfifty plus because the studios we use
make it very difficult to take anactual phone call. But with down two

(33:00):
fifty and you just say fifty pluswhen it asks for the keyword, you
get to a voicemail line that Iget a notification in my emails. So
wherever I am, whatever I'm doing, if my phone is within reach your
earshot, I'll hear the little vibration, the buzz that lets me know that
somebody's looking for me for whatever reasons. And that's just so much easier than

(33:22):
trying to remember a number that youhaven't ever written down or typed in somewhere.
Just hit the pound sign, thentwo fifty and say when they ask
you to say the keyword, sayfifty plus. And then at that point
it'll ask you to leave your message. And I've already tested it a few
times. It works, and soI'll get back to you as quick as

(33:45):
I can. If you want meto call you back, leave a number.
If you want me to text youback, leave that number. Text
is probably going to be easier forme than anything else. But email also
works, So figure it out.Let me know what you want to know,
and I'll get back with you.One three two, one two five

MINUTEES at the top of the hour, we're gonna interview, well, I'm
gonna interview and hopefully you guys willlisten in a guy named Eric Trout.
He's from down in Galison. Heowns a place called Galveston Fishing Company and
a fly fisherman mostly and a flyshop mostly. And we're gonna talk not
only about fly fishing in Galveston, but also about this upcoming deal at Moody

(34:30):
Gardens that that he's gonna be atfor sure again this year. I'm gonna
be there again this year. Iget to MC the two nights of film
festivals this year again and I'm I'mthrilled. Actually, I'll be doing the
show live up there on on Saturdaymorning and maybe even Sunday morning, depending
on how my schedule is and dependingon what time we wrap up on Saturday

(34:52):
night with the two totally different nightsof films. By the way, it's
not like last year a if youcouldn't make it on Saturday, you could
go on Sunday and see the samefilms. This year, totally different lineups
for Saturday and Sunday, and Ican't wait. It's always fun to do
that day. I've been up there. This will make my second time,

(35:14):
and both nights last year were justspectacular. And I'm working on getting some
cool prizes to have down there. There'll be door prizes, there'll be if
I get what I'm trying to get, it's gonna be there's gonna be some
pop quizes, and they're not gonnabe easy questions, because these will be
pretty cool prizes. I can assureyou. All right, all the way

(35:35):
out, I'm gonna tell you aboutsee A. That is the Coastal Conservation
Association, and it's good heavens.I mean, it's just another one in
many. I can't remember how manystar tournaments safe hosted now, but it's
I want to say, we haveto be well way down the line.
I'll find out exactly how many.It is. Memorial Weekend to Labor Day,

(35:57):
You're gonna fish all summer long.If you're entered, you've got a
chance to win an F one fiftyfrom Ford, a boat package, any
of one hundred prizes in seven divisions. There's more than one point nine million
dollars up for grabs in prizes andscholarships at this year's Star sponsored by Texas

(36:19):
Ford Dealers, Academy Sports and Outdoorsand Progressive Insurance and half Power, Polaris
and water Burder, all of them. Somewhere out there somebody who registers beforehand
because you can. You can't cheatyour way in. You can't go catch
your giant fish and then go registerand get in, because there's going to
be a checking of of your entryand when you entered, and they're pretty

(36:45):
picky about that because they're giving awaysome pretty dog gone good prizes. So
rightfully so in the scholarships too,if you're playing by the rules, if
you're entered up, not only areyou supporting a conservation organization and it's been
around for fifty years and change, you're supporting the whole fishery. And you

(37:06):
get a chance to win a truck, boat, motor trailer, scholarship,
you name it. There's all kindsof great prizes. Go to CCA,
sign up at Star Tournament dot org. Star Tournament dot Org. Do it

(37:28):
dot com. Back to the DougFike Show. Oh boy, where do
you go? Don't say pickleball.Don't go Will Melbourne and say pickleball.
Will Melbourne's fascinated with pickleball. He'smy producer over on fifty plus. If
you don't know, and I don't, I've actually I I can't say I've
really played matches in pickleball, butI've I've dabbled a few times and I

(37:54):
found it. I don't know. It's just not my cup of tea.
And if it's sures, more powerto you, and thank you for making
a hole out wherever I'm going tobe fishing or uh an extra tea time
where I'm going to try to playgolf or whatever it is. But it's
just it just doesn't seem to melike tennis once did, like golf still

(38:15):
does, like fishing always has andwill, like hunting always has and will
competitive shooting. I had my timein the sun. I don't know that.
I don't know that I have thetime to hone those skills again and
get back into it. But allthe things that that I like are just

(38:37):
it's I'd have to go way downthe list to get to pick a ball.
And there's nothing wrong with it.It's a great sport. It keeps
people busy. But I will tellyou this as well. It's now eclipsed
whatever used to be the leading causeof physical injuries and seniors. And and
when when they call the role ofseniors, I have to raise my hand.

(38:58):
Now. I feel like I'm inpretty good shape, but I know
it could be in better shape. And I know I don't want to tear
up some knees that are already kindof they're a little bit fragile. I
can still do what I gotta do. I tweaked one of them the other
day, and I don't even knowhow I did it. I can't recall
what it was. It wasn't somedrastic on a one to ten nine and

(39:22):
a half move that I was tryingto make on a basketball cord. Or
I wasn't sprinting, I wasn't doinganything, probably just leaning over to put
on a sock, and my kneejust kind of went eck and something something
strained but didn't break. It bent, but it didn't break. And that's

(39:43):
that's what I'm aiming for for whateveryears God gives me left on this planet.
I don't mind if stuff bends, just as long as it doesn't break.
As I've never had to have anykind of a major surgery on any
of my joints or muscles or whatever, and I don't want to have one.
Uh, we're coming up. We'regonna talk to Eric Trout about fly

(40:07):
fishing in the nine o'clock hour beforewe get to the golf stuff. And
I know there's a lot going onin golf, and I'm not gonna ignore
it. I'm not gonna ignore theValero. I'm not gonna ignore the Women's
mass or not Women's Masters, theWomen's Augusta Women's National Amateur Championship. I'll
get to all of that, Ipromise you I will. But I'm also

(40:30):
gonna use the last few minutes herejust plant seeds and maybe hopefully some of
you guys can either text me oremail me. I'm just curious. I'm
working on a little magazine story aboutthe top Texas trout baits, and I
think most of us who do anyamount of trout fishing will have favorites for

(40:51):
just trout fishing and favorites for bigtrout fishing. When you're if you want
to just get bites, what doyou throw if you want to get one,
maybe two, three, big bitesin a day. What are you
gonna throw? How important is color? How important is stealth and shallow water

(41:14):
things like that, and noise doesn'tmatter in the surf. I'm not worried
about stealth in the surf. Butand to some degree that's true, and
some it's not. That Cliff Webbsexplain to me more than once sit down
there on North Padre Island Seashore, there's a lot of auto traffic, a
lot of vehicular traffic on that beach. The fish in those areas where there's

(41:37):
a lot of traffic will pull out, they'll back off a gut or two
and get out of reach, basicallyfrom where we're trying to cast. If
it's really quiet and there aren't alot of vehicles going up and down that
beach front, which is why youwant to get there at the slightest crackad
on, well then you're gonna havefish that may be in so tight that

(42:00):
you don't even have to get yourfeet wet to catch them. I was
stunned at how close to the beach, the actual beach, those fish yore
and on a high tide, thefirst gut down there is about waist deep
and that's way more water than anyspeckl trout needs to float himself. And
that's also where you're gonna find overnightand right early in the morning, you're

(42:25):
gonna find snook there. You're gonnafind a little tarping up in there.
They're going to go into the shallowestwater they can get into to feed.
And I've talked about this add nauseumalmost on this program. The reason they
push fish into shallow water to feedwhen they can is because that eliminates one
of the escape routes that two ofthem. Actually in deeper water, the

(42:51):
fish that are being chased can goleft or right, or straight or up
or down, and infinite possibilities inall those combinations. If they're in super
shallow water, they can still goleft or right, they can still run
straight ahead as fast as they can, but they can't go up and down,

(43:14):
and so it makes it a littlebit easier to catch what you're trying
to catch as a predator than ifyou're in deeper water. It fascinates me
out in deep water how marlin andbig tunas chase bait fish and end up
catching a lot of them. Theyeliminate one escape route by pushing fish to

(43:37):
the top. That's the only placethey can really push baitfish. I don't
know that there's any feeding that takesplace in six seven hundred feet of water
on the bottom by those bigger predators. I don't think those little fish will
get pushed down that far. Theytry to get away by going up to
the top and jumping and just sailingthrough the air as far as they can

(44:02):
and hopefully not being followed. Butfrom some of the films I've seen over
the years, where a flying fish, which has the greatest advantage of all
the bait fish, flying fish comeszipping out of the through the surface and
into the air, gets those littlethose big wing like pectoral fins out and

(44:23):
is gliding and maintaining some altitude. And from drone shots I've seen underneath that
flying fish as it's flying through theair, there's a big tuna right on
his tail, and the nanosecond thatthat fish's nose or throat touches the surface

(44:45):
of the water, it's over. It's over. That big fish has followed
that little fish all the way throughwhat it thought was going to be an
escape and then just bam, done. Next it's amazing what happens. I'm
fascinated by ocean, the the theapex predators of the ocean and how they

(45:07):
feed, and not the sharks. The sharks are different. They're scavengers.
They just soon eat a dead whaleas anything else. The big speed predators.
The tune is the the billfish, the amberjack, something like that.
Amberjack will just wear you down. That's that's kind of like trying to trying
to catch a bulldozer. And I'mfascinated by them as well. Seven seven

(45:34):
ninety. I'm gonna go ahead andget this breakout early so we can get
Eric on and get him yapping tome about Galveston's fly fishing opportunities, which
which I'm admittedly not that familiar.I've done a little bit of it,
mostly down towards San Luis Pass anda little bit beyond there, up in
some of those backwater, some beautifulflats down there, beautiful little shallow shorelines

(45:57):
where they once were, and I'mprobably, I'm sure probably still are a
lot of good redfish to be caught. And then up in Galveston's base too,
there are places you can go ifyou get out of the main part
of the bays where there are gonnabe shallow water redfish to be caught,
and deeper water too. It's notlike you have to fish a fly rod
in six inches of water. We'lltalk about that when we get back with

(46:21):
Eric. On the way out,I'll tell you about American Shooting Centers West
Timer Parkway between Katie and Highway six. Been there for the better part of
GOSH twenty five thirty years now andowned recently. Bought recently by Eda Riggey,
who has changed it. He vowedto make it more user friendly and
safer than it even was as thelargest non military shooting facility in Texas,

(46:45):
and he's done just that. Ifyou haven't been there in a while,
by all means, go out thereon a pretty day and enjoy one of
the three sporting place courses. Enjoyone of the ten or twelve trap and
skeet fields. There's a beginner's wingshooting. There's a pop up silhouette range
situated along the rifle range, kindof toward the outer edges of it.

(47:07):
With the longer distances you'll see it. That rifle and pistol set up starts
at five yards. That's your homedefense stuff and then it goes all the
way out to six hundred yards, which is an amazing thing to watch.
Even if you're intimidated by long rangeshooting, just park down there and watch
those guys for a little while. It's fascinating how well they shoot at range.

(47:29):
Great instruction available in all shooting disciplines, and they have a nice selection
of AMMO and fine guns, finerifles and shotguns and handguns. They have,
like I said, one of thesafest setups anywhere. Somebody their eyes
on you wherever you are in thatentire facility. And if somebody ever comes
up and says, hey, youshouldn't do that again, that was unsafe,

(47:51):
just tell them thank you, you'resorry, and you'll never do it
again. And everybody can enjoy theshooting sports out there at American Shooting Centers.
Eric Shooting Centers dot com is awebsite American Shooting Centers dot com.
We're going to delay the discussion ofgolf in this hour for a little bit
because I wanted to get this guyon the phone. We're going to talk

(48:13):
about fly fishing, and I'm particularlyinterested in talking with the guy on the
phone right now about local fly fishingbecause I don't see that many people doing
it. Really. With that, hit the button there at him. With
that, I will bring in EricTrout. Eric Trout, how you been
man? I've been good, Doug, how are you? I'm all right.

(48:35):
Galveston Fishing Company down their house business. It's doing really good. We've
been opening here on the island forabout a year and a half and it
keeps picking up, and fishing's gettinga little bit better right now, getting
a little bit more consistent. SoI don't know, we're doing good,
Thank goodness. First of all,I'm sure it's kind of rare that two
people whose last names are the namesof fish get together like this, So

(48:59):
we should you we should just embracethis moment and maybe if we could get
you know, there's former astro KevinBass, we should get him on the
phone. We all all get inthe same room and just watch the world
explode. That'd be pretty we should. That's a good time, all right.
So, first of all, howhow is Galveston's fly fishing? What's
what's the story on that? BecauseI just don't see people doing it,

(49:22):
so it's definitely picking up. It'suh, it's a niche thing. That's
that's definitely starting to grow and explode. Fly fishing down here is great.
We focus most of our efforts downhere fishing West Bay, fishing the flats
and the shallows, looking for tailingred fish, sure, and eating red

(49:43):
fish up on the flats and backin the marsh. Well, Honestly,
I would think eric that over thepast few years, as many times as
I've heard people whine and moan aboutthere being too many red fish, that
they're they're eating up the trout.For heaven's sakes, they're eating everything.
They're eating seagulls and pelicans and turtlesand whatever. Just I mean, redfish.

(50:04):
You've got to be a very easytarget in Galveston Bay right there,
an easy target when they're ready toeat there. Definitely, we like having
a lot of them down here becausewe like being able to find them and
uh sign them and catch them. But Galveston DAYA is definitely plentiful in the

(50:25):
red fish category, and they're they'rea great fly, great fight on fly
fishing equipment. No doubt, arethere any walk in spots that somebody a
fly fisherman could go to and justjust take off and stay in knee deep
or less water for half a dayand have legitimate shots. Are there places
like that that you're willing to giveup on the air, Yeah, for

(50:49):
sure. No, there are oneof the best ones down here. I
would say it would be the backsideof San Louis Pass. Oh yeah,
down there, there's all those flatsback there, and an angler can get
in and start start waiting, thencover quite a bit of water. And
then other than that, the GalvestonIsland State Park. It's a small fee

(51:09):
to get in there, but thenonce you get back there, there's a
lot of water you can cover justwaiting. That's a great retch fish habitat.
So it's not about access really,it's just about taking advantage of it
and being willing to put down theconventional gear and go fly fishing. And
in so doing you have to concedethat you can't cast a quarter mile anymore.

(51:32):
You're gonna have to rely on stealthrather than dropping bombs from full court,
and you got to be able toshoot free throws and not full court
shots. Right, Yes, sir, it's definitely about it's about more of
I'd say a hunting aspect of it. I do the I think it's equivalent

(51:54):
for hunters would be bow hunting rifle. Sure. Fly fishing is a conventional
fishish, and it's kind of thatsame difference. Yeah, and when you
just the same as with bow hunting, when you make a mistake, the
fish let you know, they'll justgo see you bye by. I go
try find another one. Oh man, I need to come down there and

(52:15):
do that with you sometime, becauseit's been a while. And the places
you were talking about, like GalvestonWest Bay has got some great water on
that north side. I'm thinking ofa lot of places where, well,
really just about any place where Ihave gotten out of a boat in the
summertime and waited a very shallow flattrying to catch a big fish. It

(52:38):
would work just as well with flyfishing as with conventional You just have to
be a little more patient and youhave to concede. I think that you
may not get as many bites becauseit's just you're looking for fish rather than
just closing your eyes and trying tohit the watery. Yeah, that's exactly

(52:58):
it, and we'd like to sayit. Whereas conventional fishing, it's more
about how many catch. For us, it's about catching that one fish in
a certain way that gets you reallyexcited and amped up and gets that adrenaline
going for you. Are there anygood I'm sure there are some how many
good saltwater fishing guides are there workingon the island fly fishing guides, brother,

(53:22):
there are a few right now GalstonFishing Company. We work with three
guides are really good that are runningtrips full time and we're happy. If
anybody wants to book a trip withthem, they can always call us at
the shop. We can get themset up. And how many bites on

(53:44):
an average do those guys get ina day, a decent day? What
are we looking at? How manyfish we're going to see? And let's
don't take away let's don't base iton bites because that depends a lot on
how tight that guy can throw thatfly. But how many fish a sea
in today? For sure? Iwould there's there's a large ring rings.

(54:06):
Of course, on a good daywith the good guy, we we kind
of count it in shots, because, like you said, you're not gonna
make every shot work. Really,I would say, on on a good
day or good average day, you'relooking at anywhere from ten to twenty shots.

(54:27):
Oh that's that's very reasonable, Yeah, it is, yep, yeah,
because I know how hard it isto get close to fish like that.
And they don't like boats, theydon't like you. They don't want
anything in their way except what they'retrying to eat. And you know,
one little mistake you drop your yourcap blows off your head and a little
button on your cap hits the deckand poof, the whole the whole school

(54:50):
blows. I know how that works. Oh man, I know how that
works. All right. So whatabout this big fly fishing film festival It
moved gardens. I know you're gonnabe there again, right with all your
stuff? Oh yeah, for sure, we're gonna be there the Moody Gardens
Fly Fishing Festival. It's a greatthing. This will be their third year

(55:12):
doing it. Yeah, we kindof partner. We enjoy partnering up with
them to do it and love beinginvolved in it. It's April twenty sixth
and twenty seventh, and they'll beshowing the two major fly fishing film festivals
that they do nationally, and Ibelieve this year they're showing both the films

(55:36):
and we're I think we're the onlyor they're the only venue in the United
States that's actually showing both the films, one on Friday night and one on
Saturday night. Yeah, it's gonnabe fun, It really is, there's
no question about that. But Iwant to go back to fishing for just
a second. What other than redfish? Clearly the bay is full of a
ton of different fish, and everybodykeeps whining now about the trout limits going

(55:59):
down so low and they're gonna haveto start looking for other stuff. What
else are you able to go kindof somewhat consistently catch in our bays on
fly rods. So you can't consistentlycatch trout, it's hinges of game up.
You don't get nearly as many shots, but we can consistently go after
and catch some some good trout.Of course, they're flounder. Because of

(56:24):
the way flounders live on the bottom, they're super hard to target right or
sometimes you get them accent. Otherthan that, what's up their accidents?
A lot of times you know youdidn't see the flounder, You're just nudging
it past a redfish's nose and thenit's just this big puff of mud comes
up off the bottom of each yourflying Yes, sir, exactly. But

(56:45):
other than that, when the jacksare running in the bay, that's that's
a huge, huge fight on afly rod. If you can get into
them, it is. And then, believe it or not, another thing
we like to target is she said, just because for whatever reason in front
was throwing presenting a fly to them. They're they're huge challenge to catch on

(57:08):
fly. Well, yeah, Ibet they are. That's that would be
kind of a holy grail almost inthe bay system. I would think,
well and tackle Eric, what's what'sthe coolest thing you have in the store
right now that wasn't there a yearago? I would say, we're definitely
got in a news shipment of rods. The obvious H four rod has come

(57:36):
out and it's an amazing rod thatwe've started stalking and it's just it's just
an excellent, excellent casting rod.And to to answer the question that everybody
asks, is fly fishing so expensivethat I can't afford it? There are
affordable ways to get into fly fishing, aren't there? Oh? Yes,

(57:57):
for sure? No, I meanwe can't lie. It can get expensive.
It's like any sport, how muchyou want to put into it.
But if it's some that you're justlooking at getting into If you come down
to our shop, we're definitely goingto talk to you from a level of
you probably don't want to go tothe most expensive gear right away. Let's

(58:20):
start here with a good solid intro, sure get then you know, as
you get more into it, youcan can work up to uh to some
of the some of the more expensiveequipment if you want. It's the same
way that I explained to people whenthey when they tell me they want to
buy new golf clubs or they wantto buy new conventional rods and reels.
The first thing I asked them iswhat is that going to do for you?

(58:43):
How is that going to make youbetter? And if they don't have
an answer, then all they're doingis just trying to spend more money on
something, thinking that they can buya swing, or that can buy a
longer cast. But unless you knowhow to use that gear, it doesn't
do any good exactly. That's athat's a perfect and how perfect way to
look at it. You just can'tafford groceries anymore. That's all yep?

(59:05):
All right, Eric, Well,I will see you down there at Moody
Gardens. Tell people where your storyis. Okay, Our story is hearing
Galveston downtown on twenty fifth Market, twenty fifth in market. Next time I'm
down there, I want to comeby and say hello, man, awesome,
we love it you bet, thankyou, Eric, see buddy,
Yes, sir, all right,Yeah that was fun. Once again,

(59:29):
it gets me kind of fired upbecause I know a couple of places that
I think I could probably catch somefish. One place would be almost strictly
blind casting, but knowing what's outthere, or maybe at night, even
under the lights off this guy's pierI'm talking. Yeah, I know he
knows if he's listing this morning,he knows who I'm talking about. I
need to get Robert on the phoneand see if we can flip those lights

(59:51):
on one night and get some troutunder them, and then whip out that
fly rod and throw some I gota couple of flies that look really really
good and those seven one three, two one two five seven nine. Email
me Dougpike at iHeartMedia dot com.I'm running a little lake for this break.
I'm gonna take it right now.On the way out, I'll tell
you about Timber Creek Golf Club downthere on that south side of town that

(01:00:12):
would be FM twenty three fifty onein Friends what about three and a half
four miles west of the golf Freeway. Got a great teaching staff thanks to
the JJ Woods Golf Performance Center attimber Creek. Those guys will help you
knock pretty much any rust off anyswing you've got right now and make golf
even more enjoyable for you. They'vegot a great setup for tournaments. They've

(01:00:35):
got a big, big practice greenand a big practice rang, so a
lot of people can get ready togo out at the same time. And
with twenty seven holes, they needthat. In the mornings, as tea
times are being announced, there aretwo of them for every time slot,

(01:01:22):
Doug Fike, you get a camerato load up here. I want to
take a look at the beach front, and of course this one's down.
It looks like let's go find onethat's up and running. Both functions necessary
to actually see what I'm looking for. There's very little wind along the coast
right now. I didn't see anythinggreater than about five miles an hour,

(01:01:42):
actually, which is fantastic. Whyis this thing not letting me in?
I really don't know. I'll takeany camera about now. I just want
to see a camera. I thinkit's balking. It doesn't. I don't
know it's got me. I don'tknow this's got me signed in yet it
look like it. Let me trythat TikTok. Just wasting time. I'm

(01:02:04):
so sorry. I apologize, allright. Let me get back to where
some other stuff that I want todo. I told this thing to remember
me time after time, and sometimesit does and sometimes it doesn't. Oh
lordy, I didn't answer the mathquiz properly. What is it? What
makes it think? As long asit's still a two digit number plus a

(01:02:24):
one digit number, I'm fine. But if they ever throw up some algorithm
that I need to fill in ablank on I may never see those cameras
again. All right, let's I'mgonna take a look at the San Luis
past camera. If it's gonna letme now, which it should, and
then we'll move on. By theway, I got an email that kind

(01:02:45):
of made me chuckle, just alittle tiny bit from Mark all the way
over in Georgia, Mark who usedto live here and now lives in Georgia
and listens on iHeartRadio. Thank youfor doing that, Mark, I appreciate
it. He kept waiting, Hesaid for me to ask Eric about what
kind of what kind of livescote flyfishermen use. And now you don't need

(01:03:06):
one. You can see the fish. We're in shallow water as a fly,
as fly fishermen generally for what we'redoing talking about with redfish, and
you just see the fish's tail outof the water, or you see the
back of the fish out of thewater, which is really kind of cool.
These big redfish, these big toughbrutes of fish that they are,

(01:03:28):
will just just muscle themselves up inthere and start looking for something to eat,
and when they find it, theywill hunt it down and catch it,
and so I don't think we're gonnahave to worry about that too much.
Aaron Wade in Scott and Cliff lastnight, and oh my goodness,
he said, we listened to yourinterviews with Catam Scott and Cliff last night

(01:03:52):
in the snow driving through Utah.Oh man, sorry about that. Sorry
you had to. There's nothing wrongwith snow in Utah if you're up there
and you got a snowboard in yourback pocket. And he's asking, also,
how long did Pompino stay in thesurf? I'm not sure how much

(01:04:12):
longer. That'd be a good ideaaround here. And maybe if somebody's more
dialed in than me on the pompand O, i'd love to hear it.
But I'm guessing if I can everget this photograph to show up,
yeah, it's pretty dog on calmat San Luis Pass. I'm gonna get
one more camera to come up.Here is one I want to look at,
in particular in Galveston. That kindof gives me a pretty good idea

(01:04:35):
of what's going on down there. It shouldn't take long to get it to
loads. Stand by one second,TikTok tiktuk tik duck tick duck tikk.
Oh, that's the one that's beingfixed. Of all the cameras I wanted
to look at, that's the onethat's being fixed. Let's go to surfside,
shall we. I know that one'sup as I watched it yesterday.

(01:04:56):
I say that now I've got towait for just a second and skip.
There we go. Yeah, that'sa little bumpier than I expected to see.
Actually, there must. There's aswell for sure today, but it
doesn't look windy. The flags areblowing, but not hard. And on
the live wind surf Yeah, it'sonly showing just a few miles an hour

(01:05:20):
down there, so there may besome little anomaly going on. It doesn't
matter. Let's get to golf, shall we? Over there in Well I
mentioned it earlier in the show, and I'll go to it again. The
AUGUSTA National Women's Amateur, which wrappedup yesterday, when sophomore at Florida State

(01:05:41):
University Lottie Woae. She's from Englandand has has let it be known to
the world that she intends to bethe best woman golfer in the world someday.
She's young, she's very young,but she's also, i want to
say, the fifth rank amateur onthe women's side and in the world,
which gives her a leg up onall but four other young women to become

(01:06:06):
that someday, and more power toher if she can pull it off.
She certainly showed the chops to doit yesterday when she opened the day ahead
by two and then lost her leadwhen she bogied the thirteenth and ended up
down by two shots with just ahandful of holes left to play, and

(01:06:28):
managed to birdy three of the finalfour holes to beat Bailey Shoemaker by a
shot. That's pretty dog gone goodShoemaker was. She was running hard trying
to catch Lottie the whole time. She shot sixty six, which is the
best by a stroke ever final roundin that event. She had six birdies

(01:06:55):
and no bogies on the card anddid very well, so hats off both
of them. At the Valero TexasOpen, let me go get that leaderboard
opened up so I can tell youwhere ok Shae Batilla is stand or stands
now is standing his passive stands asactive, active voice is always better.

(01:07:15):
Aksha Batilla fifteen under par, fourshots clear of Denny McCarthy. Closest to
them is Brendan Todd. He isseven shots off the lead at eight and
then Decki, Matzi, Yama,Russell Henley. Let me scroll down.
No, they're the only two atseven under par. They go out at
eleven twenty. The leaders go outat eleven thirty, and from there it

(01:07:40):
just kind of goes on and on. Where did what did Roy McElroy do
yesterday? Did he fall apart? He shot even par seventy two yesterday.
That did not help his cause whatsoever. I saw him struggle a little bit.
I don't think. I don't thinkhe's worried much at all about anything
he does here impacting his play atthe Masters next week, because I think

(01:08:03):
for a lot of these guys, the higher level guys, the top twenty
or thirty in the world anyway, playing in this tournament is playing to tweak
anything you think you need to workon in your game. And I don't
know what goes through their heads.I don't think that it matters to them

(01:08:24):
whether they finish high in San Antonioor finish way down the leaderboard, as
long as they make the cut andget to get in their four rounds and
boy, they better rest for acouple of days before they get over to
Augusta because they got some walking todo. Let's get John on the phone
before I take this break. Hereat him. Hey, John wants up,
buddy, Hey, good morning.Hey. You know I heard you

(01:08:46):
talking about papola. Have you heardwell, I mean, have you tried
it? Like for eating? I'veheard that popolo is the best eating fish.
If you catch it, they're terrible. So if you catch some,
John, just call me. I'llcome pick them up. You get what
I'm telling you. Yeah, they'revery good. Actually, yeah, don't
don't throwing them in the trash.I'll come pick them up. Well,

(01:09:11):
you know, my son lives. My son lives there. He lives in
Fort Lauderdale. Oh wow, Yeah, Popo Beach is like walking distance.
That's where my grandparents had a housethere. When I was a little kid,
I spent a lot of time fishingin Pompino Beach. Really, we
went out on that pier and wefished, you know, we were trying
to catch popa or really anything.Uh. I didn't get a pompino though.
But anyways, Yeah, he's gota good he's got a condo there.

(01:09:34):
And he's like, uh, youknow, it's just walking distance to
Popo Beach and so, but yeah, I've heard that, and I was
just curious if you if you've eatenthem before, because I haven't. And
I guess I got if you're ifyou're familiar with that area, you know
where Atlantic Avenue is. I thinkso, I think it just goes right
up to the beach. Well theywere, yeah, yeah, they were

(01:09:54):
in a neighborhood off Atlantic Atlantic Boulevardand okay, and I used to I
could walked to a little tackle storethat was there at the front of their
neighborhood kind of, and then Iwas I would be dropped off. Actually,
the Deerfield Beach Pier fished better. This is back at one hundred years
ago, but the Deerfield Beach Peerfished a little bit better than the pomp

(01:10:15):
and O Pier. But I stillsaw amazing things caught off both piers when
I was a little kid. Itwas still fun. I know, we're
exactly where you're talking about. Yeah, the reason I fished Popolo, I
mean it's because of that, youknow, I heard them, well good
eating the word I was hoping Ican catch one. Yeah, you can
catch them right here. No,look, you can catch them off our
beach as well. Don't be don'tbe shy about it. It's a springtime

(01:10:38):
bike. But it's good. Okay, I have to try that then,
yeah, thanks, John's good.Good here, Okay, thank you.
Yeah. If anybody wants to giveaway some pomp and o, I'm pretty
sure anybody who's ever eating them wouldbe happy to come by and pick them
up from you. They're pretty tasty. It's interesting how they fish them down

(01:10:58):
in Florida. They're a specials theyuse, and there are some guys down
there who have done some amazing videowork underwater video using cameras that you can
attach to your line, and it'sinteresting to watch underwater how these fish that
just come out of nowhere into thescreen approach baits. How they some of

(01:11:24):
them are very picky, some ofthem are very cautious, and some of
them are just train wrecks. Theyjust come slamming in there and grab it
and try to swim off with it. And anybody who's a true student of
fishing, if you can find someof those, they were done in Florida.
They were these specifically were for pompand o but there's stuff like this

(01:11:46):
for every species now, and it'sreally fascinating to watch how they approach your
bait and think about what you mightbe able to do up there to entice
a bite. When you're twenty thirtyyards from wherever that fish is and you're
standing on the beach and they're outthere in the second gun. It's fascinating,
it really is, and it makesyou a better fisherman to learn how

(01:12:09):
they approach stuff, how they reactto color, how they react to movement.
All of that Shooter's Corner Palmer Highwaytwenty nine Street in Texas City is
owned by Jerry and Jtk. Theyare a father and son team of guys.
I've known for a long long time. Now known Jerry longer than I've
known Jay because Jay didn't start workingin the store when I met Jerry.

(01:12:31):
He was just a little kid backthen. But now the two of them
own and operate that store and havefor more than forty years altogether. And
what it is, it's an oldschool gun store. And if you don't
know what that is, you reallyowe it to yourself if you're down there
on that south side anywhere, togo in and just see what I'm talking
about. If you like the shootingsports in any capacity, whether you're a

(01:12:57):
bird hunter, a deer hunter,a turkey hunter, whether you need something
for self defense around the house orself defense when you're gonna be out,
whether you like long range shooting, short range shooting, whether you like custom
rifles, whatever it is you enjoyabout shooting, they're gonna be able to
take care of you at Shooter's Corner. And additionally, I've talked about this.

(01:13:19):
Before you go in there intending tobe there for five minutes. I'm
just gonna I'm running down the street. I'll be right back. I'm just
gonna go grab a box of Ammoa Shooter's Corner. And then you get
home an hour later and they're like, where you been? Well, stories
we had to tell stories. WeYeah, everybody in the store, we're
all telling stories about shooting and abouthunting and about having a good time outdoors

(01:13:41):
and enjoying the shooting sports. Ithappens. Maybe something in the air.
It smells like an old school gunstore at Shooters Corner, and that may
be it. Maybe there's something inthat air that brings forth stories from the
back of your mind. Whatever itis. It's an enjoyable place to be
if you like the shooting sports, and they have everything you could possibly need.

(01:14:01):
D Shooters Corner TX dot com isthe website. If you wear a

dog one cool. D Shooters CornerTX dot com. Your rockets and astros
live here. We are Sports Talkseven ninety. The conversation continues this as
the Doug Pike Show. Who otherthan the usual suspect When you talk about

(01:14:28):
potential winner of next week's Masters andyou run down the list, there's only
a handful of guys who probably outof whatever the full field is. I
can't recall where they stop it,but there are only there's a finite number
of players who can truly be expectedto be contenders and ultimately win that tournament.

(01:14:57):
There are a lot of a lotof cameo rolls. There will be
two day cameos for a lot ofguys who still think they can play but
really can't. But once you onceyou peel away them, then it becomes
more difficult. And of course there'salways the chance anybody who's anybody who tease

(01:15:18):
it up on Thursday has a chance. They do. They're in the field,
and to be in the field thatthe masters is an incredible achievement for
anyone. But still, Scotty Scheffler, he's my example and he will be
until he's not world's number one anymore. Scotty Scheffler is. He is rolling

(01:15:40):
along at a pace that is difficultto keep up. But he's playing so
consistently and so well when it mattersthat it's hard to I don't know.
I don't almost take Scotti Scheffler andgive everybody else the field. Just let
them have everybody else. And ifsomebody's got one wants to make a case

(01:16:03):
for anyone else that's gonna be there, who's gonna be there, then let's
hear it. Let's hear it.I'd love to know, because he's going
to be the guy in my mindthat everybody else is going to have to
beat. He tends to he tendsto manage himself well. He tends to

(01:16:24):
manage his game well, and he'sbeen rising to occasions when it didn't seem
like he could. He just kindof hangs around, hangs around for Thursday
and Friday, then kind of inchesup on Saturday and still doesn't look like
he's got a great chance, andall of a sudden, there he is.
He's he's the last man standing takinghome another trophy. What a great

(01:16:47):
what a great feeling it must beto be that good at golf, And
I'm I'm even past dreaming of beinganywhere near that good. But I don't
quit. I don't quit trying tobecome better. That's the one thing that
I won't do with golf is justgive up and say, Okay, well,
this is the only game I'm evergoing to have. I went out

(01:17:09):
and spent thirty minutes yesterday working onshort game, and then finally after that
went over and spent another doing fullswings and working my way up through the
bag to driver. And I feellike I'm making progress, But it's it's
hard to tell exactly how much progressyou're making unless you get to play often

(01:17:30):
enough to truly put that effort intoplay and see if you can do it
under pressure. I ended up afterI did all that ball knocking around on
the range in the short game area, I ended up playing six holes and
played them pretty well. I hada couple of there's one driver issue that

(01:17:55):
I've got to figure out before Ican get really confident with the swing I'm
making now, and it's not theswing I'm trying to make. I'm getting
better at doing that consistently, butthere's kind of a go to shot that
I want to keep in the bagthat seems to be It seems to have
become more elusive as I've honed thatnewer everyday swing, the one I'm going

(01:18:24):
to pull out if I'm not tryingto hit into a driving wind, if
I don't have trouble looming on bothsides of the fairway, there's got to
be that little fairway finder. Andfor most people it's going to be just
kind of a soft cut shot,a little lower, softer, not violently

(01:18:44):
moving right to left or left toright, depending on which side of the
ball you stand on. But Iused to be able to go to that
shot and hit it every time. And since I've changed to where I'm trying
to make my a swing different, that b swing, that butter, little
buttercut that I could so rely on, has become sort of a pull.

(01:19:09):
And when you're aiming to cut theball and you pull it even a little
bit, it just goes farther outinto the lake. Or farther into the
woods, and that's starting to frustrateme. You'd think I had the common
sense to call up somebody who knowswhat they're doing and ask them to take
a look at my swing. ButI'm so hard headed and stubborn. I
feel like I can fix it andI know better like most golfers. And

(01:19:33):
the one thing I did learn Ilearned a long time ago from Jim Murphy,
probably twenty five thirty years ago fromJim Murphy, is that you're not
going to find a swing fix ina magazine or online. You're gonna find
a swing fix on the range withsomebody who can stand there and look at
your swing, every one of themyou're making during that hour or half hour

(01:19:57):
whatever. On course lessons, thoseare great too, but somebody who can
stand there and fix you a little, teeny tiny bit at a time.
Most of these tips in the magazinesare great if you're the guy to whom
they apply, But as a golfer, you have to understand that everybody's swing

(01:20:17):
is a little bit different, everybody'sbuilt a little bit different, everybody looks
a little bit different. Everybody isbetter or worse physically conditioned than the other
guy, And so there is noone size fits all swing correction. And
I've known that, and I wastaught that a long time ago, and

(01:20:39):
I've had people tell me who wasit. Somebody asked me the other day
about golf gadgets, and he said, yeah, I've got this little thing
that I put with and it seemsto help, but I'm not really sure
it's helping me. And I said, well, why don't you and I
just meet on a putt and greensomewhere and let's take a look at what
you're doing. And I've had enoughputting lessons, and I know enough about

(01:21:03):
watching somebody else. I'm a littlebit in some cases, in some parts
of the game, I'm better atteaching than performing. And at this point,
I think I can probably see inhis putting stroke something that's keeping him
from being where he wants to be. And I'm not at all trying to

(01:21:24):
take a dollar out of a professionalinstructor's pocket, but if I can just
point him in the right direction andget him fired up a little bit and
give him some hope, he's justabout to break his putter in half.
He's very frustrated, and I've beenthrough that as well. It's frustrating to
think that, you know, I'mnot doing anything at all different, but

(01:21:44):
the results aren't the same. Andthat could be anything from some little tweak
and a muscle you've got, itcould be something for him, He says,
it's between his ears, and ifit's between his ears, it should
be easier to fix than a physicalflaw, because you have to you have
to just be able to take adeep breath and separate yourself from everything around

(01:22:09):
you. He says he gets distractedby other people around him when he's putting,
and he feels like he's under pressure, even in a scramble tournament.
He oh, I just got tofeel like I got the weight of the
world on my shoulders every time Ipulled the putter back. Like, no,
not unless you're at Augusta National onSunday and top of the leaderboard.
No, that's not the pressure's notthere. Don't worry about it. I

(01:22:32):
told somebody at that media day dealon told the story of someone I know
very well who used to play alot of golf but he got injured and
he can't anymore. But he gotreally, really mad one day after hitting
a bad t shot and screamed anexpletive that echoed throughout the canyon, and

(01:22:53):
slung his driver up to the topof a very tall pine tree, and
then it came on back down finally, and I said, whoa, whoa,
whoa, whoa. It's okay. It's okay if you don't play golf
for a living. And I toldhim, and I told this guy Tuesday,
and I've talked about this on theair before. I said, do
yourself a favor. Every time youplay golf, take one of your business

(01:23:15):
cards and put it in your pocketnext to the t's and the ball marker
and everything else you got in yourpocket. And every time you hit a
shot like that that you just can'timagine how you said his name, make
such horrible, horrible shots. Beforeyou scream, before you curse, before
you throw your club over a pinetree, reach into your pocket real quick

(01:23:38):
and pull your business card out andlook at it and under your name if
it does not say PGA Tour player, and just put the card back in
your pocket and go on. Justkeep playing. You're out there, you're
playing golf. You should be havingfun. And if you allow golf to
eat you up, it will.If you tell golf. No, I'm

(01:24:00):
not falling for any of that anymore. I'm just gonna have a good time.
And that we had on Tuesday. We had a fantastic time, great
group, had a lot of fun. We finished about in the middle of
the pack, I think something likethat, but really and just had a
blast because nobody was worried that theywouldn't be able to buy groceries the next
day because they didn't play well. You have a job. You already have

(01:24:26):
a job, and your job tomost of this audience, I pretty much
bet this morning is not professional golfer. And if you're one of them,
who is one, more power toyou. I'm not jealous. I'm very
respectful though, because I know howmuch work goes into it, because there
was a time in my life whenI worked really really hard to get really
really better at golf, and Idid. I had my handicapped down to

(01:24:47):
I want to say my lois wasabout a six somewhere in there, A
five to eight, a six,I don't know, but it was low,
and I felt really good about that. But I never could quite keep
going. All right, I'm gonnatake this quick break, Adam. Let
Chris know I'll take him as soonas we get back, and I will
do that. After just a fewmessages, we'll be right back to Dougpike

(01:25:10):
show on Sports Talk seven ninety. We are Sports Talk seven ninety Houston Sports
where you go with iHeartRadio. Nownow get more Doug. And I promised
Chris i'd go right to him whenwe got back, So let's do that,
Adam, thank you, Chris. What's up man? Hey Doug.
This couple of points, I'll dobaseball analogy that everybody can understand. When

(01:25:33):
we were little, the fence wasmaybe two hundred feet away. We just
played with the generic ball. Aswe moved up to still play with the
gerreoneric ball, fence got a littlebit longer and we got into high school
of fence was probably three hundred andfifty feet. We played with the generic
ball. My point is we're beingforced to play with a golf ball that

(01:25:58):
the pros have to use. Idon't understand that. Yeah, this whole
new golf ball rule makes absolutely nosense to me. And every time I've
heard it discuss, say on thePGA Tour Network, for example, it's
always from the perspective of the professionalsand they don't really listen to you and
me. And it would be soeasy, I think for the golf ball

(01:26:20):
makers to just roll back the technologythey've already gone through to a ball from
say five years ago or something, and start making those again and just stamp
professional on the side, and rightis pro baseball. It's labeled you know,

(01:26:42):
yeah, major League baseball. Andit's not a coast ball, it's
not a little league ball. It'sa different ball just for them. And
golf could do exactly the same thing. They wouldn't even have to create a
new ball. They just have toroll the clock back twenty years, let's
say, and then let those guysplay with play with those golf balls.
Yeah, we don't have to.And and I've heard some guys say that,

(01:27:05):
look, the technology is going toimprove and by the time all this
comes in, you'll be hitting itjust as far as you used to with
the new ball. And I don'twant to have to hit a new ball.
I don't want to have to buynew technology to hit at the same
distance I'm hitting it now. That'sright. I agree, messed up man
and it and places the burden onus. And one other point, I

(01:27:28):
give him one third a chance tomake the cut this weekend at the Masters.
It's because I'm referring to shuffler Tiger. Oh oh yeah, nah nah,
I don't know. And I callBS on that last term he played
when he said that he quit becausehe got the flu in the middle of
the of the round. I waswatching that, and right before he teed

(01:27:51):
off, he reached in his bag, grabbed a little tin cup, grabbed
a little snuff, put it betweenhis cheek and gum, and then hit.
I mean he's starting to feel bad. If he's starting to feel bad,
I don't think that's what you're goingto read for, you know.
I just think he did that justjust to keep his legacy up. He

(01:28:12):
didn't want to finish with plus fiveor plus six. Yeah, that's a
very good point. That's the lastthing he wants on his overall scoring average
for his lifetime or whatever of tournamentshe's finished. He's he's not what he
used to be. And and Iknow what. You know it, everybody
else knows it. And I wishthat someone would just let him know that

(01:28:33):
it would it would be okay ifhe just goes ahead and quietly starts to
focus on Charlie and and become evenmore involved. I'm sure he's he's actually
turned into a pretty good dad.It looks like when you watch the de
of them interact, and and whyhe just go ahead and do that and

(01:28:55):
follow Charlie around. Lord knows he'sgot the time. He doesn't have to
do anything but what he wants todo, so right, Yeah, and
he just flat doesn't have the Ithink his legs won't let him play.
It won't let him play seventy twogood holes. He might limp to the
finish, but I don't think he'llbe anywhere near the top of leaderboard.

(01:29:15):
Watch Tiger on Sunday. You betterget up early, right, thank you,
sir? Yeah, thank you.I appreciate it all. Let's go
grab Brandon Brandne. What's up?Holy caw. Everybody's then going on,
mister Pike. We gotta we gota short I just got we got to
be an auctioneer here. We gottajust rat along and ran along. It's
not close because we're getting we're gettingclose to the time. We're all gonna

(01:29:40):
shut down. What's no. Imean, I greatly appreciate what y'all talking
about golf, And I mean Ilook at my dad and I mean he's
seventy, I don't know, midseventies, and he's got him as real
bad and he he actually got togo to Uh he was the top salesman
and for somebody I don't know, and he got to go to the He

(01:30:03):
talked about the Masters because DuPont bought, I mean or whatever, let them
stay at a house on the onthe course itself. And now, I
mean it's he said, Brandon,it's so beautiful. And I said,
well, I believe, oh,I'm sure. And the TV doesn't do
it any justice those guys. Imean, it's tough, it's real.

(01:30:25):
He said, Man, I tellyou what, it's tough. And that
was and I mean, just listento him talk about it. It was
just amazing. Yeah. What I'veheard that strikes me most strongly is the
how much undulation there really is inall those fair ways. Yes, for
hell, TV just doesn't show itat all. And for those guys to

(01:30:48):
walk, most of them, thetop twenty five, I don't well,
I don't know what the Master's rulesare, but the top guys have to
play in at least one pro amprobably that week, and then have to
walk four rounds on that golf course, and it's it's taxing, to say
the least. For us, itwould just kill us. Uh. But

(01:31:08):
for them, if they want tothey want to put that green jacket on,
they gotta walk four rounds and theygotta play really well with every shot
they hit. And legs are partof It's kind of like a pitcher.
When a picture loses his legs,he's not gonna be able to throw strikes.
And it'll be interesting to see.I'll take Scheffler and you guys can
have everybody else. He's just sowell, I'm gonna I'm gonna choose.

(01:31:29):
I'm gonna choose Jordan's speed. Ohyou know I like that kid. Well
he's there's no kid left. OhI do. I love him to death.
I mean yeah, I mean that'sI hope he gets a green jacket.
So yeah, that'd be great. All right, Well, I got
one more I want to get beforewe end up. So let me get
a run on George or yeah, thanks, yeah, thank you? All
right, let me get George. All right, George, you're gonna fish

(01:31:51):
it up for us. Buddy Skydives, Serva Dive, Rodeo Snowski Water set
some other I'm with you. Inever took I never took one of those
up to make money. Yeah, that's a good point. Yeah, and
I'll tell you I was not climbingin Utah. And the guy looked at
me and said, look for him. A little bit of trouble here.

(01:32:13):
I need to let you down. How do you feel about that? And
I said, a guy like mealways needs to pay attention to a guy
like you. Yeah, no kidding, Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's
all right. I appreciate it.Yeah, yeah, a guy like you.
Let's just move this over. Guylike you. I doesn't need to
be hitting golf balls anymore. You'vebroken three windows. You you knocked a

(01:32:36):
guy out with a t shot.Yeah, guy like you might be dig
up something else golf. That's thebeauty of golf, though, I said,
Like I've said, if you geta little instruction, you can get
out there and have fun. You'renot hurting anybody, you're not breaking windows,
You're you're just getting out there andplaying. Nobody cares what you're doing.
But you don't be embarrassed if you'renot a good golfer, because most

(01:32:59):
people aren't if they actually play bythe rules. The score of an average
golf for these days is like onehundred and ten hundred and fifteen for eighteen
holes. That's way up there, but it's real. So anybody who's telling
you they're shooting in the eighties orseventies all the time, go out there
and play with them and just watchthem. See if they don't bump that

(01:33:20):
ball around a little bit when thelie is not so great. See if
they don't move the ball a littlebit, See if they don't give themselves
a couple of mulligans going around. It's hard to play golf really well,
but when you're playing it for fun, and you know it's just for fun.
Even if you and your buddies havegot a little side bet somewhere,
make sure you get the proper amountof strokes. Everybody keep a handicap so

(01:33:43):
that you can play on a levelplaying field like my buddies, the old
retired guys I play with on Mondays, and then it's fun no matter what
score you shoot. We've got oneguy in our group that if he shoots
better than his handicap, he buyseverybody in the group of drink. If
he shoots better than his handicap,he is so excited when he beats his

(01:34:03):
own handicap that he buys drinks foreverybody like he shot a hole in one.
Golf can be a lot of fun, and it is a lot of
fun, and if you're willing towalk it, it's even good exercise,
which all of us need. Ifyou're in my age group or anywhere near
it. And you've ever listened tofifty plus, almost every doctor I talk

(01:34:24):
to about every condition there is saysand you need to exercise. I need
to start taking more of that toheart. I've slacked off a little bit,
and shame on me. All right, We've got a little got a
little weirdness in the weather tomorrow. That eclipse is gonna happen under for over
I suppose a very cloudy sky,I'm afraid, and then we got some

(01:34:45):
storms coming in, So batting downthe hatches and get ready for all of
that. Stay safe whatever you doin the next few days, and I'll
see you on the other side.I'll be back here next Saturday at seven
I'll be back live on fifty plus. That would be Tuesday at noon on
kp r C. Thanks for listeningto both shows. If you do and
try to do it. If youdon't, we'll see you. Then be

(01:35:08):
safe. Audios.
