Speaker 1 (00:03):
It's that time time, time, time, luck and load.
Speaker 2 (00:10):
So Michael Verie Show is on the air.
Speaker 3 (00:25):
We'll be playing a lot of audio from the presidential campaign,
mostly stumbling by the Democrats this evening. But one of
the things that Kamala Harris has said repeatedly is that
undocumented immigrants are not criminals. That's like saying a ticketless
(00:46):
person sitting in your seat at the stadium has not
violated any rules.
Speaker 2 (00:52):
They're just ticketless.
Speaker 3 (00:55):
They are undocumented because they have not gone through the
process to receive the documentation. You don't simply get to
break into a country because you want to, or because
your country's in trouble, or because you're poor, or because
you wish to traffic children, or because you wish to
traffic drugs, or because you wish to carry out a
hit on behalf of the cartel. The Democrats love to
(01:19):
tell you that illegal aliens commit crimes at a much
lower rate than native born citizens. But they do something
very clever. They say that immigrants commit crimes at a
much lower rate than native born citizens. Well, you know
(01:40):
how you arrive at that number. You get people from
India coming here to get a graduate degree in the
engineering school. No, they don't commit crimes, or people coming
here from Europe to go to college, graduate school, off
(02:01):
people transferring here who've been successful in their careers in
other countries where they don't feel like they can get ahead,
and they're brought to the United States to work and
they stay. No, those people don't commit crimes by and large.
But the illegal aliens commit crimes in very large numbers.
(02:23):
How large The New York Post reporting over the weekend
that seventy five percent of the crimes committed in Manhattan
are committed by illegal aliens.
Speaker 2 (02:34):
Now, mind you.
Speaker 3 (02:37):
You got a lot of thugs in New York already,
they're still committing their crimes.
Speaker 2 (02:44):
But the illegal aliens are.
Speaker 3 (02:47):
Committing crimes at such a rapid pace it makes the
thug crime look small. NYPD and City of New York
are complaining about the high rate of crime, and they
say that it's these sanctuary city rules that are preventing
(03:09):
them from coordinating with ICE to send these people back
where they came from. It is the federal government's unwillingness
to deport using the entity we have under the law,
the illegal aliens who broke into our country. Those people
(03:31):
have nothing to lose. You have things they want and
if they have to take your life in the process,
they do not care. In parts of Queens the figure
is more than sixty percent. Law enforcement officers estimate say
a staggering estimate that as many as seventy five percent
(03:53):
of the people they've been arresting in Midtown Manhattan in
recent months for crimes like assault, robbery, and domestic violence
are migrant. Well, the old Democrat canard was, they're only
being arrested because cops don't like them. What's interesting is
(04:13):
it's black elected officials now saying you got to get
rid of these illegal aliens. If there's going to be
a crime committed here, it's going to be my constituents,
not these illegal aliens. And if there's going to be welfare,
it's going to be my constituents, not illegal aliens. On
the subject, in San Francisco, a very popular first round
(04:38):
draft pick, Ricky Pearsall, was shot during a robbery. A
female police officer heard the gunshot and reign in that direction.
Female officer immediately admitted administered first rate first aid to Piersall,
and it is believed that that likely saved his life.
I think he will recover. These guys are pretty hearty
(05:00):
and pretty strong. Fortunately, ABC seven San Francisco with the
story and wait till you hear who the person was
that shot him.
Speaker 1 (05:13):
John Wendall says he was leaving his offices on San
Francisco's Geary Street Saturday afternoon when he witnessed something he'd
never seen before.
Speaker 4 (05:20):
And I saw two guys fighting about twenty years away,
thirty yards of the most. I thought, oh great, you know,
another punch up on the street.
Speaker 2 (05:30):
And then bang, bang bang, that scuffle and shooting.
Speaker 1 (05:32):
Window witness involved forty nine Ers rookie and first round
draft pick Ricky Piersall, peer saw was shot through the
chest after a seventeen year old attempted to rob him
while he was walking down the street near Union Square,
the incident happening just hours after he appeared at an
autographed signing event just miles away.
Speaker 4 (05:49):
It was at the moment just simply shocking. It wasn't
until later that I began to.
Speaker 1 (05:56):
Shake, Wendell tells me the entire encounter happened rapidly, was
over within a minute or so. He says, shortly after
the gunshots rang out, he saw police who were stationed
nearby running towards the scene.
Speaker 4 (06:07):
The police response was fantastic. They had that place swamped.
Speaker 2 (06:11):
The first officer to arrive was Sergeant Heral.
Speaker 1 (06:14):
Sergeant Heral is being described as a hero who may
have saved Pearsall's life. Our colleagues at ABC News spoke
with her on Monday. Heral describing hearing the gunshots and
then running to find Pearsaw on the ground in a
pool of blood.
Speaker 2 (06:26):
To ABC News reporter Melissa Adahn, I used my.
Speaker 5 (06:29):
Right hand because this is my strong hand, to steal
the wound.
Speaker 2 (06:33):
Sorry, and then I put it up here.
Speaker 1 (06:35):
To hold out, the sergeant says while they waited for
paramedics to arrive, she knew keeping Pearsall conscious and calm
was paramount. She detailed some of their conversation during those
critical minutes.
Speaker 2 (06:45):
I know you don't know me. Oh please trust me.
God is with us.
Speaker 5 (06:48):
It's not your time.
Speaker 2 (06:50):
Well, okay, it's not your turn. I want you to
continue to breathe, okay.
Speaker 1 (06:54):
Thanks to Pearsall's description, SFPD was able to identify and
arrest the suspect. The NFL rookie is now out of
the hospital and recovering at home, but the reputational hit
the incident has on San Francisco may be harder to recover.
Speaker 3 (07:06):
From the reputational effect on San Francisco, the home of
Kamala Harris, who would san Francisco as America. How very
(07:27):
timely that this should be shown. And the seventeen year
old I believe he's an I llegal alien, and I
believe he was arrested three days earlier on a gun
crime and released. For all the talk about gun control,
it's a lie, it's a smoke screen. We catch these
(07:50):
bad gas. You can't stop all their first crimes, no
matter how proactive you try to be. They're going to
commit their first crime, But you can keep them from
committing the second one. If when these little turds who
go around with their pistols beating people, shooting people, robbing people,
(08:13):
raping people, if when they are caught for their first crime,
you throw the book.
Speaker 2 (08:21):
At them, that won't happen again.
Speaker 3 (08:25):
They can have time around other people just like them,
to sit around and discuss what they want to do
fifty years from now when they get out.
Speaker 2 (08:35):
Why keep giving.
Speaker 3 (08:36):
People a second chance who have proven they don't deserve
it and won't make the most of it. While the
rest of us going about our business. He's doing an
autograph signing, somebody else is going to the grocery store
somebody else's.
Speaker 2 (08:51):
And we're having to live through this crap.
Speaker 6 (08:54):
Reprintable picture and if you don't like them, we'll reprint
them or refund your money, no matter who's faulted.
Speaker 2 (08:59):
In the Michael Arry show your photo, NTS. How about
those Astros? Huh they lost yesterday. It's like talking to
Eddie Martini about LSU.
Speaker 3 (09:15):
No matter what happens, the long suffering fan is the
worst fan.
Speaker 2 (09:20):
I decided years ago to stop caring.
Speaker 3 (09:22):
Who wins or loses and just enjoy the competition of
the sport.
Speaker 2 (09:27):
And people get so angry with me. No, you have
to be as invested as I.
Speaker 3 (09:32):
Am so that you can be miserable doing something that
was supposed to bring you joy. No, No, I used
to do that all my Aggie buddies. So fired up
about the Aggies, so fired up about the Agg's gonna
(09:54):
be a great season.
Speaker 2 (09:55):
And I do think it's going to be a good season.
I think the arterback.
Speaker 3 (10:02):
Really struggled, and they were expecting Quinn yours, if not
arch Manning, and I don't think that's going to happen.
Speaker 2 (10:09):
He's no Buckie Richardson.
Speaker 3 (10:11):
And I think they were really hopeful because they got
a hell of a good defense, a very good defense.
And then you pay Jimbo nearly eighty million dollars to
go away, almost eighty million dollars, not to bring a coach,
(10:35):
but to get him out of the way so you
could go find somebody.
Speaker 2 (10:38):
Else to pay. Now, that is an alumni network, when.
Speaker 3 (10:46):
You've got people willing to step up and say, yeah,
he's not the guy.
Speaker 2 (10:52):
His better days are behind him.
Speaker 3 (10:53):
He was great at Florida State, but yeah, go ahead
and dump him and we'll go find somebody new, or
we'll bring back the guy that used to be here
a couple of years ago because he's done well at Douke.
Speaker 2 (11:08):
That's hardcore, but that's long suffering.
Speaker 3 (11:11):
Poor Eddie with LSU high hopes ranked thirteen, had no
business being ranked at thirteen. And then of course they
lose to USC because LS you remembered somewhere along the way,
wait a second world, Brian Kelly's our coach. We're not
supposed to win this game. And then that poor bastard afterwards.
Speaker 2 (11:34):
Loss of dead burned game.
Speaker 3 (11:37):
It looked like somebody told him, you need to show
you care and you're mad we lost, so in the
middle of seeming like Tim Walls, you know, just kind
of low and he said dead loss of turn game
when I'm so mad. No, you're not getting the part.
You're not playing the angry coach that you didn't. You
(11:59):
didn't pull that off properly. But the long suffering Astros
fans teams better than they've ever been. You know, I
think of all my heroes, Jose Cruz, Terry Poole, Craig Reynolds,
Alan Ashby, Nolan Ryan, Joe Sambido, just phenomenal teams over
(12:19):
all those years. And we didn't go to the World Series,
much less win one. And then we finally go to
the World Series and even the Rocket couldn't deliver a championship.
That's saying some We had Pettitt and Clemens. Boy was
that ever special? Ah that was special? Used to drive
(12:41):
over to Christians till Christians Tailgate, Steve Christian's original place
over off Washington right there at iten. Since he sold it,
it's become a couple different, but it was perfect back.
This is kind of a Dive. We used to go
over there in the middle of the afternoon to watch
those games. Boy, that was a fun, fun year to watch.
But criticize him all you may, and you're free to,
(13:04):
because the deeper your fandom, the more you get mad
at the people you should love. I think Dusty Baker
was a good coach. Oh that's gonna upset him. From
World Series batboy to major league player. Proud father Dusty
Baker gets to see his son make his major League
baseball debut with the Nationals.
Speaker 2 (13:27):
How special does that have to be?
Speaker 3 (13:31):
You see pictures of his boy out on the field
when Dusty was playing, and now seventy five years old
getting to watch his son play.
Speaker 2 (13:44):
You see, Craig, You see that.
Speaker 3 (13:45):
You see the beam on Visu's face when his boy
is playing. There's something very very special about that. On
the issue of Sports News, an odd story ESPN had
Cam McCormick scored the opening touchdown for Miami against.
Speaker 2 (14:08):
Florida.
Speaker 3 (14:09):
He is the first and only player the NCAA ever
granted a ninth year or two. His freshman year was
at Oregon in twenty sixteen, when Barack Obama was still
our terrible president.
Speaker 2 (14:25):
M Roberts, one of the gritty veterans of Koshinga. The
ward drifting back again plugs.
Speaker 7 (14:31):
In complete Eddy to the end zone coast. Cam McCormick
one of the great stories of college football. His ninth
year playing the game, and he scores the opening touchdown
for the games.
Speaker 2 (14:46):
It's amazing.
Speaker 8 (14:47):
You'd be hard pressed to find anybody in college football
or sports in general that has had to be more
resilient because of injuries and had more to overcome than
Cam McCormick. It's an unbelievable story for servants. And here
on the touchdown catch, he pays it off right, came back,
wanted to be a part of this team, felt like
(15:07):
there was going to be something special. And on the
very first drive of the season, in a very hostile environment,
cam More leaves his offense down before we're throwing that
touchdown pass to Cam a corner.
Speaker 2 (15:19):
Betty, you're on the Michael Berry Show. Welcome, sweetheart.
Speaker 9 (15:24):
Yes, thank you for checking my call. I am a
little bit nervous, but you spoke earlier. I think I'll
got on about nine oh five and then I got disconnected,
so I'm trying to remember he spoke earlier about you know,
cominan Kamala Harris not getting out there speaking to the
(15:47):
pros and things like that. And I was going to
get your opinion on maybe a way that a President
Trump could draw her out and kind of force her
out when he maybe to his rallies. I don't know
what they're called, that those get a big screen on
both sides of him and have her there and as
(16:10):
he's answering questions and addressing issues, he can say and
what does Kamaa say about it? And then play her
in her own words and then you know, go down
the line. What's your thought on doing something like that?
To pass that along?
Speaker 2 (16:28):
That sounds like a good idea. I'll let him know.
Betty in Houston has got an idea on whinning this thing.
I like it.
Speaker 3 (16:35):
You know, everybody has an idea for what Trump ought
to do, and that means you're invested.
Speaker 2 (16:44):
There's nothing wrong with that. But today, Trump.
Speaker 3 (16:49):
Today will drop a podcast of President Trump with Lex Friedman.
And if I were to estimate, I would estimate that
eighty five percent of our audience does not know who
Lex Friedman is.
Speaker 2 (17:03):
And that's not necessarily a good thing.
Speaker 3 (17:04):
There's you know, homeless Joe four blocks over and I
don't want him wasting his time with Homeless Joe. Lex
Friedman has one of the biggest podcasts in the world,
and he has an audience of people that are somewhere between.
Speaker 2 (17:22):
Coast to coast Joe Rogan and maybe Bill Buckley.
Speaker 3 (17:30):
It's kind of an Elon Musk type audience. People that
are really heavy into the sciences.
Speaker 2 (17:41):
And are.
Speaker 3 (17:43):
Alienated from the political process. They're people who ask a
lot of questions. There are people who are interested in
things like AI and our presidential candidates and our candidates
generally have not connect acted with these types of people.
They're very rational people, which means they are naturally they're
(18:07):
naturally fertile ground for Republicans and the president is going
to be speaking to him that's never been done before.
Trump is doing, in my opinion, everything right.
Speaker 2 (18:17):
I can't you're excited.
Speaker 3 (18:21):
The Kamala campaign, along with the mainstream media, continue to
not only attack Donald Trump for visiting Arlington National Cemetery
last week.
Speaker 2 (18:32):
At the invitation of the gold.
Speaker 3 (18:35):
Star Families, thirteen of them thirteen fallen soldiers from Joe
Biden's disastrous botched withdrawal from Afghanistan. So the media attacked Trump. Well,
Kamala Harris and Joe Biden.
Speaker 2 (18:55):
Weren't there.
Speaker 3 (18:57):
Because they weren't invited by the families, but President Trump was.
So President Trump did something he's never done with his
Twitter feed. He only recently returned to Twitter. He'd been banned.
You remember, that's what they do. They silence you because
the power of your arguments is too strong. So what
(19:20):
did President Trump do? He invited the gold Star families
to tell their story, and he posted it on his
Twitter feed. I forget how many followers he had, but
at one point it was eighty million.
Speaker 2 (19:37):
It may be more.
Speaker 3 (19:39):
Jim McCollum, the father of Lance Corporal Riley McCollums, said
about the COMMA campaign, Your recent remarks related to Trump's
visit to Arlington are filled with nothing but lies and deceit.
How do you sleep at night knowing it was you,
this administration, You and Biden, you being the last one
in the room, are responsible for the death of our
(20:03):
thirteen kids.
Speaker 5 (20:08):
Vice President Harris. My name is Jim McCollum. I am
the gold Star father of the United States Marine Corps.
Lance Corporate Riley McCollum killed in Afghanistan. August twenty sixth,
twenty twenty one. Your recent remarks related to Trump's visit
to Arlington are.
Speaker 2 (20:22):
Filled with nothing but lies in deceit.
Speaker 5 (20:25):
How do you sleep at night knowing it was you,
this administration, you and Biden, you being the last one
in the room, are responsible for the death of our
thirteen kids. You have felt for three years and eight
months to acknowledge our kids, to acknowledge me. You don't
know me. You've never spoken to me, You've never reached
(20:46):
out to me. You have failed in your duties as
vice president. You have been nothing but disrespectful up to
me and the families of the thirteen. Yet you're claiming
that you will always be respectful and show respect for
our falling. You've been absent for three years and eight months.
(21:07):
You've proven that you're not capable to do the job
that you have, let alone the job that you seek.
You know nothing about honor, courage, commitment, respect the President
Trump does. President Trump has been there for us. He's
been a rock for us. He showed compassion for us,
and he showed he truly cares for the families that
(21:27):
truly do know what the ultimate sacrifice really is.
Speaker 3 (21:32):
You have the day you deserve. It always goes one way.
When the media makes a mistake, it's always in the
favor of the Democrat at the expense of Trump. NBC
anchor Kristen Welker, she's the moderator of NBC's weekly Sunday
political interview, showed Meet the Press flat out lies in
(21:55):
her defense of Kamala Harris, claiming that Kamala met with
gold star family of troops killed in Afghanistan as she
tried did Kristin Welker to fact check Senator Tom Cotton.
NBC would later issue a weak apology with yet another lie,
claiming Welker implied that Kamala attended quote the dignified transfer
(22:17):
of thirteen American service members killed during the Afghanistran withdrawal. However,
she stated it as a fact as she was in
the process of fact checking Senator Cotton. This is that
exchange between NBC's Christen Welker and Republican Tom Cotton.
Speaker 1 (22:35):
Bottom line, though, I guess, Senator, is it ever appropriate
to make campaign content at military brides.
Speaker 2 (22:41):
I didn't take campaign photos there.
Speaker 6 (22:42):
These families, Ghodstar families whose children die because of Joe
Biden Kamala Harris's and competence invited him to the cemetery,
and they asked him to take those photos because, as
they told me yesterday when I spoke to Kelly Barnett
and Darren Hoover, the parents of Taylor Hoover, who has
Arkansas ties, they don't get to go to the beach
on Labor Day.
Speaker 2 (23:01):
They don't get to have barbecue.
Speaker 6 (23:02):
This is their one chance to have a memory of
their children, to commemorate their service and to honor their sacrifice.
They wanted President Trump there, They wanted to take those photos.
You know who the family is also invited Joe Biden.
Kamala Harris. Where were they? Joe Biden was sitting at
a beach. Kamala Harris was sitting at her mansion in.
Speaker 2 (23:17):
Washington, d C.
Speaker 6 (23:18):
She was four miles away, ten minutes. She could have
gone to the cemetery and honored the sacrifice of those
young men and women, but she hasn't. She never has
spoken to them or taken a meeting with them, didn't
meet with them during they were with them at the
dignified her in her and Joe Biden's incompetence that those
thirteen Americans were killed in Afghanistan.
Speaker 2 (23:41):
You know it it is.
Speaker 3 (23:51):
It's hurtful, It causes anguish, causes pain, and it causes rage.
People being killed on our streets, innocent, decent, kind, wonderful people,
mothers and fathers and children by awful human beings. And
(24:18):
it's not an accident. They're awful human beings who keep
committing crimes again and again. And it's happening because of
policies and decisions. And there comes a point where you
realize this is exactly what they want. Thirteen of our
(24:40):
service members dead in a boss withdrawal, and they play
political games with it. They show those people no honor.
While parading George Floyd, a felon, a woman beater, a
baby daddy who had not thing to do with his children.
(25:04):
They paraded him around this nation, multiple memorials like he
was some hero, Like he was some hero, churches, civic events,
murals on the wall. The man was in the commission
(25:24):
of yet another felony when he had a drug overdose.
And yet our thirteen service members sacrificed their lives.
Speaker 2 (25:31):
And these people do that. Enough is enough.
Speaker 3 (25:40):
A number of you have sent words of congratulation, and
we certainly appreciate.
Speaker 2 (25:44):
It, and if you didn't know, we will tell you.
It's a big honor.
Speaker 3 (25:49):
We have been nationally syndicated by Premier Networks, which will
begin on October seventh. The importance of that, as I
said in my statement, was that this is the network
that syndicated Rush Limbaugh and to have sat in his
seat and spoken into his microphone to his audience across
(26:13):
the country is the highest honor in all of radio.
To join the ranks that the bar was set by
Rush Limbaugh. To get to join the ranks of the
Premiere Network's stable is an incredible honor. That is Clay
(26:36):
and Buck obviously, who do Russia's show, who I consider
personal friends, Jesse Kelly, who is one of my best friends,
Glenn Beck of course, Sean Hannity, and now our show,
and that is an incredible, incredible honor. For those of
you wondering why I thought you were syndicated before we
(26:59):
self syndicated, which means we had to negotiate with each
of our affiliates across the country ourselves. And that is
a very tall order because you are competing against the
biggest distribution network, which is Premiere Radio Networks. And even
(27:19):
though Premiere is under the umbrella of the company that
is our day job, which is iHeartMedia, it is a
different division and it's a whole different business. So the
announcement was made this morning, and we've already added our
first new affiliate, which is Virginia Beach, Virginia. A lot
(27:39):
of Navy seals out there, a lot of Navy folks
out there, and obviously we expect that to continue on
a pretty big basis. How does that affect those of
you primarily in Houston. I know we have listeners in
Lubook and all over. It shouldn't it shouldn't affect you
one bit. You've probably noticed we have a strategy of
(28:05):
more local in the morning and more national in the evening.
That was not Excuse me, that was not always the case,
but we consciously did that because our affiliates tend to
take the evening show, and that will continue to be
(28:26):
the case.
Speaker 2 (28:27):
Some of them will take the evening show. Some of
them do already.
Speaker 3 (28:30):
Birmingham, for instance, will take our evening show and our
morning show. Portland has done that for years and that
will continue. We do focus on some Houston news pretty heavily,
and for our careers. It would be better if we
(28:51):
didn't because other cities don't want to hear about Houston's news.
But if we don't do it, it feels like it wasn't
being done and it's important, and I think that's unfortunately.
One of the negative sides to the nationalization of political
talk in this country is that the conversations revolve around
(29:19):
the President and to a lesser extent, Congress, and so
important issues that are happening in Miami or Houston, or
Chicago or LA and even more so in smaller markets
(29:39):
are not being addressed any longer because the radio business,
which is entertainment. The entertainment business needs as big an
audience as possible to survive, and that generally means your
platform covers as much as you possibly can. We feel
like we have found a middle ground that works for us,
(30:02):
that works for you, and that is highly monetizable. Because
I know this makes some people very uncomfortable. This is
a business just like your favorite ice cream shop, and
just like your church. If your church doesn't bring any
dollars in the church has to close, that doesn't make
the church evil. Those are the realities. It takes dollars
(30:26):
and cents. Your favorite charity, Camp Hope, does wonderful work
with veterans, saving the lives of veterans, but we have
to keep money coming in to pay to keep the
lights on and food on the table, and we have staffers,
so that's why we often push for that. One of
the things we are most excited about is that we
(30:51):
will get to share the message of Camp Hope and
the concept of hope and healing for veterans with PTSD
across the country and they will be flown to Houston.
They will get the treatment they need to save their
lives and restart their lives and re enter their family units.
(31:11):
And that gives me more joy than you can possibly imagine.
That's incredibly rewarding. For our show sponsors. This will have
no direct effect. And let me explain why our show
that will be syndicated across the country to eventually a
lot of stations, many many stations in time, that show
(31:37):
will be the same exact show you hear on our
evening show. During the commercial breaks, Premiere will have national
It'll be just like here. They will come to me
and say, are you comfortable speaking for Berna, who obviously
wants to be a sponsor. Yes, I speak for them already.
I like them, I use them, I used them long
(31:57):
before I spoke for them.
Speaker 2 (32:00):
So that will work.
Speaker 3 (32:03):
That process will work exactly the same, and it'll be
those people will hear my endorsement across the country. But
in Houston there is a carve out and that's our deal.
So my Houston show and my Houston sponsors will not change.
I will still speak for Mattress Mac, I will still
(32:23):
speak for Corey Diamonds. I will still speak for Gringos
and Federal American Grill and Big City Wings and Republic
Boot Company and Hawkins Lease Service and on and on
and on. So in Houston, I will still talk about
the ones. You know, you got to dance with the
ones that bring you. That was very important to me
that we keep our ability just in Houston to speak
(32:47):
for the show sponsors that we have here who have
been loyal to us, some of them going back to
when we were on one station and that was KPRC,
and have been with us.
