(02:05):

Speaker 4 (02:13):
Come home, come home. Ye are weary, come home, arnestly, tenderly.

Speaker 3 (02:35):
Jesus is calling, calling bo centers.

Speaker 4 (02:43):
Come home, come home, come home. Y are weary, come home,

(03:06):
nestly tenery.

Speaker 3 (03:09):
Jesus Us is calling, calling Oo sentners come calling, poll
centers come.

Speaker 1 (03:33):
It's crazy, but that's always been our altar call. And
you know, I think of songwriters Billy Joe Shaver, for instance,
or Steve Goodman. It's hard for me to believe that
a human being wrote that song because it feels like
it comes directly from God. But I had to one

(03:57):
point look up if there was a writer of record
for many of the old time hymns. There's no writer
of record. It wasn't ever it wasn't ever registered, but
Softly and Tenderly, which was originally Softly, Softly and Tenderly.
Jesus Calling was written by will L. Thompson in eighteen eighty.

(04:22):
He was an American composer. But the reason I tell
you that it's hard for me to imagine a human
being wrote that song. It feels like it came directly
from God, and it feels like such a direct call
that it is hard to imagine there was a human
being in between there. But it was part of a
collection that he published called Sparkling Gems Numbers one and two.

(04:47):
Is that old fashion or what is that old fashion?

Speaker 5 (04:51):
Or what?

Speaker 1 (04:53):
Jd Vance, Speaking yesterday, the Vice President of the United States,
in a moment of a very raw, open, honest confessional, said.

Speaker 6 (05:06):
This A little uncomfortable talking about my faith in public.
As much as I loved the Lord and as much
as it was an important part of my life, I
have talked more about Jesus Christ in the past two
weeks than I have my entire time in public life.

(05:31):
And that is an undeniable legacy of the great Charlie Kirk.
You know, he loved God, and because he loved God,
he wanted to understand God's creation and the men and
women made in his image.

Speaker 1 (05:48):
The concept of redemption has always been a lot to me,
and it's the powerful message of my Bible that there
is redemption, that there is a place we're going, that
no matter what, there is always the opportunity because we

(06:10):
do all fail. And I can't tell you how many
powerful messages I have heard from people. As I said before,
I believe Charlie Kirk's death will mean he will be
remembered as an evangelist more than a political activist. I

(06:32):
know folks are emailing me. We got to right short
to vote. We had to relax. If you heal the soul,
the elections will follow. Politics is downstream from culture, Andrew
Breitbart said that, and culture is downstream from faith. People

(06:55):
of faith will understand the importance of showing up to vote,
and they will take back our country in every way.
It will give them a strength that they will summon
that they never imagined they had. If folks of faith

(07:16):
populate the land, you won't have to worry about the rest.
So we are offering you an opportunity, our own alter
call to share how you're going to change your life politically, personally, spiritually,
whatever that might be, and be a better father, mother, boss, precinct, chair,

(07:41):
business owner, whatever that may be. Rick seven one three
nine nine nine one thousand. Seven one three nine nine
nine one thousand, Rick Europe, Sir, go ahead.

Speaker 2 (07:52):
Good morning, Michael each man, long time, longtime listener and
very nervous.

Speaker 1 (07:57):
First colored don't allow people listen to what I go
don't be at all. And Rick, I have to apologize
to you. I I messed up the clock and I
went to you late in the segment. So what I'm
gonna ask you to do is hold one more. We're
gonna go straight to you. Take a deep breath. You
and I are just having a conversation and feel very
very comfortable sharing, and we'll open the phone lines for

(08:19):
the rest of the seven one three nine one thousand.
It was awful nights, So that smart all.

Speaker 2 (08:27):
Mister Michael Berry's choke crackers.

Speaker 1 (08:33):
My friend messaged me this morning late into the night.
He stayed up too late and was drinking jack and
cokes and apparently he did what most every man has done.
And if you haven't, God bless you, because I can't
join your ranks, and for whatever reason, he peed in

(08:54):
the hallway and he didn't remember it, but he woke
up this morning to his or he was awakened this
morning by his wife asking hypothetically, if one spouse peas
in the hallway overnight, is it the responsibility of the

(09:16):
other spouse to clean up the pee? And he figured
out at that point, humhm, I bet it's not one
of them logic games you play in college. This might
be this might involve me. And since I'm not out
of bed and she gets up before me, that would

(09:41):
mean that if I was up first, I would discover
the pee. But since she was up first, she must
have discovered the pe. And maybe she's saying that I
need to get up and clean up the pee that
I don't remember. You know, we all all fail on occasion.

(10:03):
And so I gave him a course of action of
kind gestures to undertake today to win himself back into
her good graces. But apparently he was. He was very
upset since Charlie Kirk assassination and let himself get carried

(10:25):
away in self medicating and it did not end well.
So I don't know how his day is going, but
we shall see Rick, I apologize, good sir, I went
to you too late in the segment. But now you're up,
and now you've had a chance, You've you've had a
chance to breathe and just just go to it. I'm
gonna turn off my microphone.

Speaker 2 (10:43):
Just let you go, all right, Michael. One of the
reasons why I'm such a he's probably hear this a lot,
but we have so much in comment. I'm about five
years older than me. But you know, I grew up
in a central Louisiana and I would say listening to
your sayings and mobile stories and growing up through where

(11:03):
you and we used to go through right where you
live to get there. My dad liked to take the
back roads and and uh, I would say without doubt that, uh,
that part of Texas because a lot more in common
would kind of central self than to losing anywhere in Texas.
Your story is about growing up and everything. Now, well,
I've been my send on this slightly just been fearfulness

(11:27):
in my life's Uh life changed dramatically five years ago,
and it's been the bigiest blessing I've ever been through
itself of in the hardest thing. That's even though I
know you know that God's gotten me through so much stuff.
I mean from mom and Dad and both my older brothers.
God really young and well, I was more in tune

(11:49):
with God and listen to it more, you know, metricity,
and I could see how He was helping me and
the miracles He would in my way to just kind
of tap me on the shoulder, say, you know your
father and I loved oh And I mean, you know,

(12:11):
based on it's nothing to laborate, Michael. I mean, it's
not gonna be I'm not don't feel like right now,
but then you go out and change the world or
anything like that. But uh, they wanted to help him,
but not right now. But uh, I you know, you start,
you want to start doing things the way I've done

(12:32):
it most of my life. The things I got out
of this morning, you know, and it was all based
on a lot of the things I heard yesterday at
the Memorial Service revival. You know, this morning, for the
first time in a long time, I set my clock
twenty minutes early, and uh, then I had to get
up and I set my clock and I ridden my

(12:54):
Bible for ten minutes and then, you know, instead of
just a quickly voiced prayer and laying in bed and
then rolling up and getting that up. I got out,
I got to get out a pillar. Now fifty nine
has got on my knees and you know, cut off
everything and uh, you know, just try to focus slatly
on God and pray and starting out with praising Em

(13:19):
and and you know, asking for forgiveness. And you know,
I want to start doing that every day. I want
to start going you know, for years, I mean getting
them going to leave at least eleven o'clock service at
the local at my local Southern Baptist church with something
that feen like praything to me. I want to at least,
you know, start doing that again every Sunday and night,
you know, unless something else is going on there came

(13:39):
up and get that going to church. Uh, tonight, I
want to do the same thing and like I did
for years, before I go to bed, bring my Bible
for at least ten minutes and stop everything, cut off
the lights or cut them down, and get on my
knees and prayse that God throw all the things that
he did for me that day. You know, based on

(14:00):
the things that I heard yesterday, I want to cut
back on my drinking. Uh, you know I've been I've
been't drinking too much. I need to cut back on that,
you know. And I thought about may think about me
and my wife and a lot of stress now. Uh,
but you know some of the arguments that we've had,

(14:23):
some of my things and angers I said to her,
and you know, just trying, which is just something to
make me mad. Trying to take a breath, but not
count to ten, at least count to three. And before
I say something I regret say sometimes I don't even
mean and try to be nicer and kinder, you know.

(14:46):
Got to be that way to everybody, you know, people
that I disagree with and God to instead of rolling
my eyes at them and looking I'm in disdain, praying
for them, praying that God is from a different way.

Speaker 7 (15:00):
Family.

Speaker 2 (15:01):
Got to get that bitterness out of their heart and
that that awful way of living, an awful way of
thinking about me and just praying for and that. It's
like I said, nothing elaborate, but you asked, you know,
for what commitments people made on Alpa call, and that's
that's mine. So thank you.

Speaker 1 (15:22):
I appreciate you being courageous enough to share that. You know,
social media has a tendency to make people, to encourage
people to present to the public something that they are not,

(15:43):
at least not all the time, and to create whether
it's a saint or a wealthy person or a famous person,
or a person living this great life. And and maybe
that's aspirational. I don't know, but it's a hard thing

(16:06):
to do in today's society to admit your weakness. You know,
sometimes when I state my failings, I'll get emails, especially
from older women, for you brag it, and I'll say, no,
I think it's important that you understand that I know
my place and I know my failings. That is my

(16:26):
attempt at confession. I don't always appreciate it. But Michael
very Show, David Bellamy just turned seventy nine years young
last week.

Speaker 3 (16:46):
We could go.

Speaker 1 (16:48):
Yesterday, September sixteenth, Happy birthday to one of our all
time favorites. Jd Vance, speaking at the Charlie Kirk said
this yesterday.

Speaker 6 (17:03):
A little uncomfortable talking about my faith in public. As
much as I loved the Lord and as much as
it was an important part of my life, I have
talked more about Jesus Christ in the past two weeks
than I have my entire time in public life, and

(17:28):
that is an undeniable legacy of the great Charlie Kirk.
You know, he loved God, and because he loved God,
he wanted to understand God's creation and the men and
women made in his image.

Speaker 1 (17:44):
I can tell you there is a revival going on
in America. I have heard from people who I did
not even know were Christians who have said to me
that this was an awakening for their soul, that they

(18:04):
realized that none of the rest of it matters, that
it has affected their marriage, their relationship with their children,
their relationship with their parents, that this has changed who
they are.

Speaker 5 (18:20):
I was.

Speaker 1 (18:22):
At Republic Boot Company last week getting measured for another
hat and another pair of boots, and when we were done,
you know, they're they're ready to close down for they stay.
They stay pretty late because they are retail shopping. They're
overwhelmed with boot orders. But I said, hey, if any

(18:42):
all want to hang around, if you're going to sit
out back and smoke a cigar with me, I would
enjoy that. Just catch up on how business is doing.
I love to hear how businesses are doing. And so
they all took me up on it. Well, all the
guys that were left, but eight or ten of them,
and we were sitting outside and as one of one
was leaving, he told fire Ball Bill kind of the

(19:04):
operations guy. He said, fire Ball, we started eight thirty
tomorrow and he said we start eight or eight thirty?
Barre Ball said eight thirty. He said, I'll see you
then looking forward to it, head it out.

Speaker 4 (19:19):
What was that?

Speaker 1 (19:20):
What kind of retail shop? What kind of retail bootstop
store that stays open this late? Opens at eight thirty?
I said, are y'all opening early now? And he said no.
The guys said, after all this happened. We've talked about
for two years doing the morning Bible study. And the
guys know, I do my Bible study first thing in

(19:42):
the morning, and I get here early beat the traffic,
and I do my Bible study here at the shop.
And they said, you know, we've never had formal Bible study.
Could we sit in with you? Would that be weird?
He said no, I would enjoy that. And he said
I hadn't been to seminary or anything like that. But
we'll read our Bibles together and we'll talk about it.

(20:02):
We'll talk about where we are and our challenges, And
I said, do you think that Charlie Kirk's assassination and
martyrdom led to that? And he said absolutely, because we
probably would have been two more years talking about doing it,
but never having the impetus to get it done. And

(20:25):
isn't that amazing? You know, I need to clean out
my house, but you need to clean out your house,
and then your kids leave for college and go all right, now,
I gotta do it. There's just things that spurred you
to action. And I thought that was neat. You know,

(20:46):
the concept of Bible study. I love what the Republic
Book Company guys took the approach of. And I've said
this with a lot of things. People build up in
their minds how formal something has to be. They let
the great be the enemy of the good, in the
sense that Billy Graham's not going to come in and

(21:07):
teach your Bible study, nor does he need to. The
great awakening was that you can read the Bible. The
Gutenberg Press made it available to every single person to
read for yourself. Things. Vince Gil's got a song called
the Red Letter Words. It gets you a good red

(21:28):
letter Bible where the words of Christ are in red.
So you don't ever doubt and start reading, and the
names will be different, especially the New Testament, much much simpler.
But you'll be surprised how easily you can follow along.
You'll be surprised how easily you will grasp the basic concepts,

(21:54):
and you'll be surprised how many references. There will be.
Two things that you did not know were biblical. Let's
go to Joe. Joe, you're on the Michael Berry Show,
Take it away.

Speaker 5 (22:10):
Charlie Kirk was God's example to us on what we
should be doing, and he God gave us the template
of what we need to do to defeat these evil
leftists when we're trying to take over our country. When

(22:30):
Erica Kirk stood up there and she gave the perfect
example of what a man should be to his wife,
and what a husband should be to his wife, I
mean she should be to him and him to her,
blew me away. And when she stood up there and
forgave that young man for killing her husband, I lost

(22:55):
my breath. That was, yeah, the ultimate engrace and humility.
And when Charlie Kirk first got murdered, the first thing
that popped into my mind of all things, was when
the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor. Admrohirohito was reported to told

(23:18):
his superiors, I think we've woken a sleeping giant. And
that's exactly what come to my mind when Charlie Kirk
was silenced. They have woken a sleeping giant, and that
is the Christians of this country that are going to
be more bolder to stand up for their faith and

(23:40):
take this country back.

Speaker 1 (23:44):
Joe, I'm glad you brought that up because I was
going to play Erica Kirk's comments on what men should
do for their wives and what women should do for
their wives, and I'm going to do that in the
next segment. I got one minute, have to go to
pat uh. I didn't get to it two segments ago,
but I will do it before the show's over. Thanks

(24:04):
for reminding me. Pat, You've got only a minute, but
take it away. Brothers, all yours, Michael, we're all in
the fourth quarter of our lives.

Speaker 7 (24:14):
There is go over time. If you've turned away from Jesus,
turn back. He never left you. He's standing right behind you.
If he's ever half turned to him, turn to him
because he's there. He's always been there. If you turn
to Jesus. You'll be covered in the blood of Jesus.
And the Lord God sees the blood. He doesn't see you.

Speaker 2 (24:37):
He won't see what.

Speaker 7 (24:38):
You've done, what you Mike do. In the future, he
will see the blood of his own son, of himself.

Speaker 1 (24:45):
So this is the Michael Arry show.

Speaker 2 (24:49):
Yeah, that's the one.

Speaker 4 (24:55):
My say I.

Speaker 1 (25:00):
Was going to save when Erica Kirk said yesterday until
this evening, and we will dig deeper into that. But earlier,
a fellow was talking about what kind of husband he
wanted to be, and that now he was going to
go to church and he was going to change his
ways and he was going to become that kind of

(25:23):
husband and that kind of father that would suggest a revival.
And I feel it, I see it. This is what
Erica Kirk had to say about that.

Speaker 8 (25:35):
Most of all, God's mercy and God's love have been
revealed to me these past ten days after Charlie's assassination.
We didn't see violence, we didn't see rioting, we didn't

(25:56):
see revolution, said, we saw what my husband always prayed
he would see in this country.

Speaker 4 (26:05):
We saw revival.

Speaker 1 (26:11):
Then she talked about the responsibilities that we have and
I got to tell you when I talk about what
I think the perfect wife is to me. I get
emails from women and I don't even think they think

(26:32):
before they send it. I think they have been so
lied to in the same way that little boys are
convinced at their little girls, and it's irrevocable. I think
there are a lot of women in this country that
are missing out on the intimacy of marriage. I think

(26:55):
they are missing out on a man loving them on
a deeper level because they themselves have put up barriers
because they've been told by their girlfriends, who are all
unlucky in love. Don't cook for him, what are you
a slave? Don't do his don't do the dishes, don't

(27:17):
do the laundry.

Speaker 5 (27:20):
What are you?

Speaker 1 (27:21):
Why would you do that for him? No, And they've
created this sort of princess mentality that you withhold sex
and affection in exchange for what you want. It's very transactional,
it's very cold, and out of that is not a

(27:42):
deep and abiding love. And I think that women need
to hear from other women and from men what we want,
because I see marriages where it is transactional and there
is not a true deep love. She needs money, he

(28:03):
wants sex, and somebody on his arm, and maybe somebody
at home so he's not lonely, and you miss out
on so much of life. But here is what Here
is the guidance she gave to wives.

Speaker 8 (28:17):
To all the men watching around the world, accept Charlie's
challenge and embrace true manhood.

Speaker 1 (28:27):
Hold on, you don't see sex, You just you just
it's all okay, okay, go ahead.

Speaker 8 (28:36):
Women, I have a challenge for you too. Be virtuous.
Our strength is found in God's design for our role.
We are the guardians, We are the encouragers, we are
the preservers. Guard your heart. Everything you do flows from it.

(29:05):
And if you're a mother, please recognize that is the
single most important ministry you have.

Speaker 1 (29:17):
Women have been taught usually by childless women, angry, bitter
Hillary Clinton type women. Hillary Clinton's generation was all about
what they called feminism and this idea that we were
going to scratch to the top, that we've been held back,

(29:38):
that we're more talented. And I do think there was
underemployment for a lot of women, and I do think
that largely changed. But I think there were a lot
of women so narrowly focused, in a narcissistic sense on

(29:59):
their own professional development and social stature, that they lost
sight of who they were and they had nothing to
give to anyone else. And that's sad, as actually very sad.
But she had disadvice for men, and I think this

(30:21):
should be taken to heart.

Speaker 8 (30:22):
Five twelve to all the men watching around the world,
accept Charlie's challenge and embrace true manhood. Be strong and
courageous for your families. Love your wives and lead them,

(30:47):
Love your children and protect them. Be the spiritual head
of your home. But please be a leader worth following
your wife. Your wife is not your servant. Your wife

(31:14):
is not your employee. Your wife is not your slave,
She is your helper. You are not rivals. You are
one flesh working together for the glory of God.

Speaker 1 (31:34):
Boy, that is such right guidance, biblical in nature. I
think a lot of people I've seen young people who
in their parenting have gone to these touchy feely white

(31:56):
liberal websites on how to raise a child. And you know,
don't discipline the child. The child's done nothing wrong. Just
keep loving. So you see these little tyrant children, and
they desperately need guarden rails, The desperately need discipline. I
think the same is true of our sexual roles men

(32:18):
and women in the household, and I think that has
caused the family unit to suffer terribly. I think broken
families and fatherless homes is the number one problem in
America today. I think you solve that problem first and
then you can solve all the rest. But that is

(32:41):
your number one problem. Fantastic guidance there
