he recorded the million Dollar Quartet UH, jer Lee Lewis,
Carl Perkins, Elvis, Johnny Cash, He launched Charlie Pride. He

a recording studio there and a label where he did
patches by Dicky Lee.

nineteen eighty six. I was getting only five dollars an
hour as a casual. That's a person that just not

Well, that's the only one in Orange. But then I
moved over Poor Author and worked there for about twenty
nine and a half years and went back to Orange.

You probably delivered mail to a lot of people.

I know, probably so, yeah, because I was working around town,
you know at one time. You know, what they call
a technician is a person that has five routes a
we just work on each carrier's off day, you know,

so they pay him a little bit higher.

Yeah, technicians like the guy you just named Cornelia's. He
probably thought they were gonna blame it on the regular
carrier or something. They don't teach him, you know, how
they get caught or anything, you know, so he didn't.

He didn't realize you know.

Probably I'm that guy that go and speaks to the
post office guy every day, and so if there's somebody
delivering the mail that's not my usual person, and I
go out there.
Speaker 1 (06:11):
Because I just see the vehicle po Yeah.

I'll say, oh hi, I just want to come out
and say hello to my to my postman and I
say oh okay, and I'll say, uh, are you filling
end today? And it'll be a person who's on. And
that always struck me as kind of like being the
substitute teacher, because you never get you you don't get
your routine down that you don't seem like you can't
get can't get a groove.

Exactly.

Yeah, uh yeah, a lot of people would you know,
complain because you know, they wouldn't get their mail at
the exact same time. Sometimes it would be earlier than
the regular carrier. Sometimes it would be you know, a
lot later.

But uh, yeah, we.

Were speaking about people stealing and stuff we had during
the course of my time. There maybe three or four
people they caught with with the mail at their house,
you know, uh, rooms full of mail, you know, mail
all in their trunk and everything. And uh, I remember
one I think it was a girl. Her boyfriend uh

reported her when they you know, ended up getting into
some conflict and so she ended up losing her job
like that. But yeah, each one of 'em uh ended.

Up l losing their job.

But I don't see why they would bring that stuff home.
I mean, what was the point? You know, it was
just I don't think they were using their any cards
or anything like that, but they would have rooms full
of mail. And detectives went over there to one guy
house and told the union stood uh things that wasn't

related to uh to the mail. What what he found
in the fella's house.

You know, that was pretty funny, you know, like like
what kind of stuff.

a yacht. But that's not what I exactly meant, and
I wish I had explained it better. They the center
consoles are center consoles. The cabin cruisers are cabin cruisers.
The yacht has a door to the bedroom, has its
own shower, a kitchen, egg of a stove, you know,

three TVs on it, stuff like that. That's what I
consider to be a yacht. Not to mention this says
it on the title. So a center console is not
a yacht, it's just a center console.

and he's one of the guys that I ask about

And then they figured out, well, we've already got them

we'll pay somebody. And those people don't know. So you

then you're not in ben shop. You just somebody off six'

well look you're getting terrible service from the person off six',

Probably I'm that guy that go and speaks to the
post office guy every day, and so if there's somebody
delivering the mail that's not my usual person, and I

and say hello to my to my postman and I
say oh okay, and I'll say, uh, are you filling

get can't get a groove.

Yeah, uh yeah, a lot of people would you know,
complain because you know, they wouldn't get their mail at
the exact same time. Sometimes it would be earlier than

Were speaking about people stealing and stuff we had during

reported her when they you know, ended up getting into
some conflict and so she ended up losing her job
like that. But yeah, each one of 'em uh ended.
