Speaker 1 (00:00):
This Sunday Loomenfield Seahawks Broncos as a Seahawks attempt to
force boonix and do an zho and four record against
Seattle base football teams. He's already bow and three? Will
he be bow and four after Sunday? Joining us right
now on the radio show Altitude Sports and Denver co
(00:23):
host of Columbus Hastings and d mac. How many freaking
host does one show? Need for CODs?
Speaker 2 (00:29):
Sakes?
Speaker 1 (00:29):
Darren McKee back with us in Seattle. How are you
my friend?
Speaker 3 (00:35):
Soft team? Yeah, it's probably too much. They probably get
rid of me. It would be nothing good deal. Probably
You're probably right, wouldn't be the first time.
Speaker 1 (00:44):
You know, I love the attitude that you have right
now because you may not be this happy after Sunday's game.
Speaker 3 (00:52):
Oh no, no, no, no, you don't understand, brother. We're
both freed from the Russell Wilson. Come on, man, are
you kidding me? Hey?
Speaker 2 (01:03):
Wait a minute, wait a minute.
Speaker 1 (01:07):
Didn't we tell you all this? Didn't we tell you
all this? Yes before that, this guy is a weirdo.
Blah blah blah. You called us, Uh, you said we
were being ridiculous. We're being stupid, We're just a bunch
of jilted lovers. We're jealous, we're bitter.
Speaker 2 (01:23):
Mister U limited and then it goes out and lays
a frigging act.
Speaker 3 (01:28):
Oh my god, he was just as bad, if not worse,
out here. And I had the same conversation with some
fine fellows in Pittsburgh and I'm like, you guys will
thank us later, And I said, Sassy toldos and yeah,
and Russ is out. You know, it's that same stupid
show out there in Pittsburgh. And I don't know if
(01:50):
he'll nake it the week two to come here to Denver,
like he's got to survive one week. But that being said,
for the Broncos and the Seahawks, I'm telling you it's
a it's a rebuild year for the Broncos. They did
keep this some minds off me. They took fifty three
out of the eighty five million dollar hit on Russ
(02:11):
this year. They took a bigger hit on his salary
this year. They could have spread it out more evenly,
they did it. This is a complete rebuilding year. Sean
Payton loves bonicks who's had a rough time in the
state of Washington. I understand that, so there's there's not
a lot of pressure on the Broncos, nobody's nobody's expecting
(02:32):
anything out of these guys.
Speaker 2 (02:33):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (02:33):
Well, and look, I mean and all serious. Boonnicks has
only lost one game here. The other one was in Eugene.
The third one was in last Vegas. So now he's
got a shot to go back. Now he's got a
shot to go bow and two in Seattle. All right,
you like that bow and two, So we'll see what happens.
But you know, I mean, what do you expect out
of Bonnicks? Actually like the guy, despite the fact that
(02:56):
he's a duck. I loved his demeanor after the lost
of Washington and Seattle. I love that he sucked it
up and played in the Fiesta Bowl against Liberty, which
was kind of a meetingless game. I like the kid
a lot. I don't know what hell he'll do in
the NFL, but I like the person. What's your take
on bow Nick so far?
Speaker 3 (03:15):
Well, he's twenty four years old and he's married. And
if you saw the BMW Championship on TV, that's Castle Pines,
which is a very fufu shishi area of suburban Denver.
Yea well, bo Nix and his wife bought a four
million dollar mansion out there somewhat close to that golf course.
The reason I bring that up is this is a
(03:36):
guy who wasn't looking for the night life. Trust me,
if you live up in Castle Pines, you're a multi
millionaire and you must love entertaining at your home because
there's nothing else to do up there. So this is
not a guy looking to trip the light fantastic or
you know, set the world on fire with that. He's
kind of like twenty four going on forty. He's the
(03:57):
son of a quarterback, son of a coach. In a
very flattering way to me, He's a quarterback robot. And
although Russ is like a weird robot, he's not a
Russ doesn't process anything, you know that right, Russ does
not process coaches information. Russ, while he was in Seattle,
(04:17):
was a great athlete and just sort of scrambled around
and Pete Carroll win and get away with it for
a decade plus, probably driving him nuts. But Sean Payton
hated it. Sean Peyton is all about the process, all
about diagnosing things, and boon Nick's is extraordinary at that,
really really good at his sixty one starts in college safety. Man,
(04:40):
a lot of college quarterbacks would be better off if
they spent a little bit more time getting that kind
of experience. So there's a lot of things that blid
being a rookie. Okay, for example, Zak Wilson's on this team,
and they kept three quarterbacks, including Zach Wilson. Zach Wilson
is the same age as Bo Knids and has thirty
four starts, and he's like ptsde brother after being out
(05:04):
there in New York, he has damaged freaking goods. This
summer was like the rehab of Zach Wilson and keep
the bombs in the closet, you know, look out. So
everything was Zach was way different though, is more mature
than that, which sounds nuts, and I think he's ready
for the gig. It'll be it won't be anything spectacular,
(05:25):
but if you need that ball one two and a half,
throw the ball. He's that guy and his accuracy has
been phenomenal. He was like that all camp, he was
like that in preseason, and I'm not exactly sure why
it wouldn't continue. I mean, we'll see on Sunday, but dude,
this is a developmental year for the Broncos. The pressure's
(05:46):
on the Seahawks at anybody.
Speaker 2 (05:48):
No, no question this Sunday. I agree with that for sure.
Speaker 1 (05:50):
Darren McKee with US Altitude Sports in Denver, and I
thought Gerd Mayo made the right pick by picking Jacoby
Brissette over Drake may in New England because the Patriots
schedule is brutal. I mean, just go look at like
the first month and a half for the Patriots. Man,
it's it's insane. So I think, you know, not throwing
a rookie right to the Wolves is smart out of him. Denver,
(06:13):
I think has a little bit of a softer road
right Pittsburgh, Tampa Raiders, Chargers New Orleans. So I think
starting him over Stidham is the right call because they
don't have a murderer's row the way the Patriots do.
Speaker 3 (06:27):
Yeah, I agree, And don't forget while nobody really knows,
is why would you le Broncos actually have a really
high paid offensive line. They do. They've got a lot
invested in the two tackles in McGlinchey, well you know,
mclinchy mcglinchy and Bowls. They paid a lot of money
to Quinn Minors, who's their right guard. Ben Powers got
(06:48):
a big free agencyal left guard. They got a new
center that's kind of the new piece of the puzzle.
But there's a lot of money in that. And Bonix
didn't you know, he did not take a sack in
pre seasons, didn't take a sack season at all. And
they'll run, They'll run the ball first of all, they'll
try to overpower you. They'll run a lot of play
action and then the bonus can move enough. Softee, yeah,
(07:11):
third and seven, it's oh, he runs enough, but he's
not a running quarterback, so he'll pick up first downs
that we saw with Russell Wilson, Man, I keep going
back to russ but what a disaster. I mean, it
was just I mean, my god, he couldn't see anything.
He couldn't see the middle of the field. He would
just run into sacks left and right or holding calls.
(07:33):
I mean, what a disaster. I mean, I cannot even
believe what that he might be thinking of Pittsburgh. But
you know whatever, and with all of it is like
it's all about playing between the white lines. And let
me list off the fifteen offensive lineman that I've ever
played with every single time. I mean, the guy is
such a freaking phony it's ridiculous. And he's not a
team leader. He's not a team leader. He's just a
(07:56):
guy that other guys put up with. Softie. That's Who'll
Wilton was.
Speaker 1 (08:01):
We gotta go back, Jackson. I want you to take
the last minute from Darren and then I want you
to compare it to what we heard from Denver when
we had those guys on the day.
Speaker 2 (08:11):
Of the trade was made with the Broncos. All right,
we're gonna do that.
Speaker 1 (08:14):
All right, just keep that and because are you talking
about Russell Wilson like last year or are you just
transcribing my show from like five years ago, because that's
that's exactly the stuff that we said too. So we
gotta go back and do that. We got to compare
that to what you got, what you people said the
day the deal came down. But Darren McKee from Denver
again is with us.
Speaker 2 (08:34):
On the air.
Speaker 1 (08:35):
So you know, Oxer, what six six and a half
point favorites on on Sunday.
Speaker 3 (08:39):
Look, by the way, by the way, by the way,
you don't know what your coach is all about. You
don't know what your team's all about you know, you guys,
don't you guys? Who those who this guy is and
what you're gonna do? You don't know.
Speaker 1 (08:50):
You're exactly right, You're exactly right. I mean, we got
we got a brand new head coach, a brand new
offensive coordinator, we got a brand new coaching staff.
Speaker 2 (08:59):
There's like one guy.
Speaker 1 (09:00):
Back on Carl Scott I think is the guy that
the the one guy that came back from last year.
It's a brand new team too, So all right, fine,
it's a toss up many. I mean, you said it yourself,
the pressures on Seattle, which I agree with, But I
don't know, man, I'd be a little concerned. Is Cody
Barton really starting at linebacker for you guys this weekend?
Speaker 3 (09:19):
Oh that's so funny. I think he is. We got
some soft spots, that's one of Them's my linebacker a
cig from Patrick utan secondary, especially safety, big question marks.
So I mean, but if you guys had a quarterback,
that'd be an issue. But you don't.
Speaker 1 (09:37):
Oh really, okay, you mean the guy that you the
guy that beat you. This guy, Hey, look, Gino Smith
is no Patrick Mahomes. But my god, if we're comparing
it to you guys, the standards not very high.
Speaker 3 (09:51):
I can't I can't believe you guys gave up on
Drew Locke. He's my god.
Speaker 1 (09:54):
Yeah, well, I can't believe you gave up on him too, Pale.
You gave up on him for first you quit Andrew
before we quit Andrew.
Speaker 3 (10:04):
How's no if working out? He actually should be pretty good?
Is he doing all right?
Speaker 2 (10:08):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (10:08):
I think I think no offense got a shot to
take a step with With Ryan Grubbs offense, man, we'll see.
Speaker 3 (10:14):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (10:14):
You know, there's there's so much uncertainty around these guys,
and everyone's excited for you know, Big Mac, Little John,
John Schneider, Mike McDonald, the new head coach, defensive coordinator,
one of the great defensive minds in football. But I'm
trying to paint a picture here about how Denver actually
walks in here and wins this game.
Speaker 2 (10:34):
I mean, where are the thresh.
Speaker 3 (10:36):
The whole game, The whole game plan is to get
the game right down to the wire and try a
sixty four yard field exactly. That's exactly what we're going
to try to do.
Speaker 1 (10:47):
Just and you know what, just like Nathaniel Hackett, you'll
miss it. And everybody all rip Sean Payton on Monday morning?
Speaker 2 (10:53):
What's that?
Speaker 3 (10:53):
Hey?
Speaker 1 (10:54):
Wait a minute, what time out? He's the Is he
still Aaron Rodgers coordinator with the Jets?
Speaker 2 (11:00):
Hackett?
Speaker 3 (11:00):
He is? God, he is, He's there. Yeah. Yeah. By
the way, you realize too, the whole thing with Hackett
being hired here in Denver was to get Aaron Rodgers here.
And again, you know, Russ was sloppy seconds. I hope
everybody realizes that, and it was the best they could
do under the circumstance. Russ was never the plan ever, Yeah,
(11:24):
I mean he was the fallback option out of total
desperations because the Denver Broncos picked Bradley Shubb over Josh
Allen in twenty eighteen and have been paying for it
ever since.
Speaker 1 (11:34):
Well, there's a couple of familiar names. Luke Wattenberg is
a former Husky. Cody Barton's a former Seahawk obviously, so
a couple of names that we know on that roster.
But I got to ask you, d mac Darren McKee
is with us from Altitude Sports in Denver. It's getting
close to eight thirty, so getting kind of close to
his bedtime, so we'll let you go in a few minutes.
But give me a take on how people in Denver
(11:56):
are reacting to the circus that has Dion Sanders and
up and Boulder, and if they start to lose, how
much longer will they put up with his show if
he's not winning games.
Speaker 3 (12:08):
First of all, you suck at times, though, but look
that up later.
Speaker 1 (12:11):
Second, I'm sorry, is it seven fifteen out there now?
I don't really worry about anything that's happening in the
mountains or the woods.
Speaker 3 (12:20):
Prime is something else. Brother. I don't know if he
knows how to manage a game or coach, but he
does know how to recruit. He does know how to
draw attention to things. So there's a lot of really
positive things in terms of attention to the University of Colorado.
Enrollment's up, diversity minority enrollment is up, which is really
(12:42):
really good. The games are sold out, which is great.
There's so many positive fis and Boulder is an amazing
city if you've never been here. Everything is positive. However,
there's a lot of us that are very unsure if
he knows what's actually happening to manage a game, and
Shadur Sanders all the busy to do last week and
(13:06):
was basically kneel on the ball and they win the game. Instead,
shoulders hucking up like fifty yard bonds so that he
could get near five hundred yards and five hundred touchdowns.
Pasco's incomplete and it's like, oh, I guess we're gonna
give North Dakota State the ball back for no reason,
and that if you missed it, that game ended with
(13:27):
a completed hail Mary where the dude was tackled at
the four yard line like they were four yards away
from pulling off a huge upset and boulder. And we
had a lot of games like that. Never mind the blowouts.
You know what Oregon did to them, what Washington State
(13:48):
did to the bus last year was humiliating. So that's
all on Prime's watch too. But he's a man. Prime
is a big deal. He's a really really big deal,
And at the end of the day, he's not on
any kind of hot seat. He can have the job
at See You, seriously, dude, because he brings so many
other things that are positive to the university. He's on
(14:12):
zero hot seat. I don't care what his record is.
He can have that job at See You for the
rest of his life. He's on zero hot.
Speaker 2 (14:18):
Seat, right, you really care about winning down there? I
guess then, well, hey.
Speaker 1 (14:23):
Listen, I mean honestly, if he goes three and nine,
you're telling me the seat doesn't get a little warm.
Speaker 3 (14:29):
Zero hot seat wow zero wow. Right, it's a weird eight.
Speaker 2 (14:34):
That's kind of lame, to be honest with you.
Speaker 3 (14:36):
Man. Well, that's where you did. Welcome to where they did. Bro,
They've been a ridiculous afterthought in the Pac twelve. Yeah,
I mean they did finish last in the pack twelve.
Last year's too last last place?
Speaker 2 (14:53):
Yeah, all right, it's seven seven twenty time for bed
old Man.
