Speaker 1 (00:01):
It's time for Sadie and Dick's weekly visit with Seattle
krechon head coach Dan Bilsma, brought to you by Dick's
Drive In, serving great burgers, fries and shakes the hockey
fans since nineteen fifty four. Step into one of the
nine Dicks Drive Ins locations today now with our head
coach Dan Bilsma, Deer's Safdian Games.

Speaker 2 (00:21):
All right, we're back here a Jimmy's on first.

Speaker 3 (00:22):
After the Mariners win today three to two, we'll see
if we can go two for two with the Kraken
to night against the Canucks, by the way up in
Vancouver seven o'clock pre game with a seven thirty faced
off big thanks to Dick's Drive in.

Speaker 2 (00:35):
So who I believe os Berger is?

Speaker 3 (00:36):
After that terrible April fools with that question they pulled
on us yesterday, Dan Bilsma, he would never ever ever
do anything.

Speaker 2 (00:44):
Like that with us on the radio show. He's a
straight shooter head coach of.

Speaker 3 (00:47):
The crack and joining us on game day yet again, coach,
how are you what's going on up there?

Speaker 4 (00:53):
We are on the bench right now of the Rogers Arena,
getting ready to play Vancouver tonight, so ready to go.

Speaker 2 (01:02):
I love it.

Speaker 3 (01:02):
Well, let's face it, man, this is a rivalry with
Vancouver that is going to grow and grow and grow,
and at one point it's gonna get really, really nasty.

Speaker 2 (01:11):
I think.

Speaker 3 (01:11):
To get really nasty, you got to face these guys
in the postseason. That will happen at some point. We
all remember Tyler Myers knocking Maddie Benires out of the
All Star Game a couple of years ago with that
cheap shot. There's no doubt this rivalry extends to the
fan base, though what about the players. Are the players
get jacked up for a game like this and and
a rivalry like this, or is maybe the franchise still

(01:32):
too maybe a little young for something like that.

Speaker 2 (01:34):
You think.

Speaker 4 (01:36):
There's surprisingly of my first taste of it really this year,
But there's some animosity between the groups. There's some an
mosky between a couple of players over there and our guys.
You mentioned Tyler Myers and some history there, but yep,
we've had some mother say running so to speak with
these guys and the games regardless. I guess if if

(02:00):
it's proximity or you know, they get fans in our building,
we get fans in their building. There's there's some there's
some duce of these games.

Speaker 5 (02:08):
Well, you've had no issue scoring goals against Vancouver this year,
fourteen of them in three games. Why is the offense
click so?

Speaker 4 (02:14):
Well, you know, I think we've just seen some of
our mindset come to fruition against these guys. And you
talk about being a forward team and being in the
offensive zone, and that includes getting you know, a solution
to every good goaltender and never getting offenses more shots

(02:36):
to the net and more bodies to the net. But
last game, in particular, evidence of of Maddie and Oliver
Borgstrand and Tolven and getting goals converging into that getting
a shot from the net and tips and rebounds at
the net. Those three goals, and that's where we've been
getting them from against this team.

Speaker 3 (02:57):
Well, Dan Bosma's with us again courtesy ad Dix dr
I've ens joining us every Wednesday on the show Cracking
Cannuckts to night up in Vancouver at seven o'clock and day.
And the last time we spoke last Wednesday, you still
had I guess said a long shot, right. I mean
a lot of things had to go right and since
then the team has been eliminated from the playoffs. Tell
us about that, about kind of what what that weekend
was like for you guys, and how you look back

(03:19):
now on this season after it's become official that there
will not be a postseason.

Speaker 4 (03:27):
Yeah, you know, it's it's the the magic number has
come and gone, I'll say for the group, but I
think in the mindset still remains with the you know,
since the deadline, since the break, we've been determined to
play our best hockey and and really play a game

(03:49):
that gives the players hope and the and the fans
hope for for how we can play and up we
can be. And I think you know, you guys can
tell me. I I keep getting, you know, I asked,
I asked different people in the game. But the eye
test is different for this team. Right now, we're playing,
we're playing a more consistent game, we're playing a more

(04:10):
aggressive game, We're playing a more a game, more and
more to the offensive zone. And it's getting you know,
we're tested. Last game, last two games against the good
Dallas team was tested for sure. But in that you know,
to a man, we all think you can fallow power play,
penalty killing, game one. We didn't get a power play
game goal last game, but we outplayed the Dallas We

(04:33):
feel we played out played the Dallas Stars in the
last two games. And that's a team that's contending for
this for the Stanley Cups. So focus still remains the
next seven games. You know, we have a bunch on
the road here. We're going to be playing some playoff
teams in that stretch. It's it's ours to prove we're
we're a playoff team. It's not going to be this year,

(04:54):
but proved to each other that we are okay.

Speaker 3 (04:56):
Well, Dan Bosman's with us and Dan as you know,
there's always evaluation of everything, right in this sport, every
you know, sport, professionally, players, coaches, the whole thing. Self evaluation,
I'm certain of that. How do you evaluate yourself the
job that you've done this year?

Speaker 4 (05:15):
Just a good question, I would, you know, I think,
but really with the goal of making this team become
a good team, a team that plays sixty minutes every
night and puts forward, like I don't know, the effort,
effort always needs to be there. We get paid to
have the effort, but you know, to be that type

(05:39):
of team, Uh, you know, that's what we've been struggling with.
All you we had we did not get to that
and and that evaluation and not me so I that's
the way I take it. But I I still think that,
you know, with the way we played it, with these
remaining games, we can, uh, we can try to become
that team in the next seven games I think we

(05:59):
have then the last ten games or so. And that's
that's something we want to do for each other, that's
something we want to do for myself personally, that's something
we want to do for the fans as well.

Speaker 5 (06:11):
So following up on that, how much do you mix
and match your lines in your minutes almost use this
time of as a preview of next season or do
you stick what you feel gives you the best chance
to win each game based on the matchup with the opponent.

Speaker 4 (06:28):
There's you know, definitely some mixing and matching in there
with not only personnel. You know, we see you know,
Yannie Newman get a get a chance to play some
hockey for us, but not only get a chance to play,
but you see him in spots that he can have success,
which you know it was a great shot and on
the power play, you see other players get opportunities as well.

(06:54):
Ellie Tolnan on the PK that's developing him for the
future in future roles down the road. So that, uh,
we're trying to win every darn game. The guys are
trying to win every darn game, but there's also some opportunity,
I say, to show what we can be next year.

Speaker 2 (07:14):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (07:14):
Well, I'll just say this, not that you care what
I think, but I think it's impressive how the team
is still fighting. I mean a lot of teams in
this position would just roll over and die, and you
guys are not doing that whatsoever. So testament to you
and your staff for forgetting the guys to do that.
But you mentioned Tolvenen, what's going on with the heavy
what's going on with Jayden Schwartz tonight coach?

Speaker 4 (07:34):
Yeah, both, there's some other guys as well, but getting
banged up here a little bit, and Jayden and Toby
banged up in the Dallas game and both will not
be playing tonight, Ty Carte, Ryan Winterton. It's an opportunity
for you know, Ryan winter the depth in the organization

(07:55):
to come up and play a game and see what
he can do.

Speaker 2 (07:59):
Great, go get him tonight. Man, it's a big one
game day.

Speaker 3 (08:05):
By the way, if you win tonight, you are coming
on before every single game next year. Okay, we're just
gonna say that tonight. You get it done tonight. We're
gonna make it happen, all right, go get him. Good luck,
all right. I know you, I know you are. You'll
do whatever it takes.

Speaker 2 (08:20):
Man.

Speaker 3 (08:21):
All right, Dan, good stuff, good luck tonight against the Canucks.
Dans lyles Man with us on the radio show. We're
gonna break Petros Papaakis.

Speaker 2 (08:28):
Maybe we'll get Petros's thoughts on the Canucks and Kracket.

Speaker 3 (08:30):
You think he knows the damn thing about the Caducks
and Krackerty, we'll ask him anyway for his thoughts.

Speaker 2 (08:34):
Next on ninety three three kJ A r F M.
