Speaker 1 (00:01):
If you've ever been mad at yourself for getting sucked
into something that took your time that you weren't planning
to do, right there with you, right there with you.
This doesn't happen to me all the time. I manage
my time well. Ever, I clicked open Netflix yesterday afternoon
and I thought.
Speaker 2 (00:21):
Oh, the Lacy Peterson documentary.
Speaker 1 (00:24):
Uh, you know, I know it's a few episodes, let
me give it a shot.
Speaker 3 (00:30):
Good morning. I've had missing persuit cases before, but this
one was bigger already.
Speaker 1 (00:36):
It's been a while since we all were captivated by this,
and and so I started watching it. And it's about
three hours long. Because it's three episodes. Guess how much
time I spent with it yesterday? Three hours?
Speaker 4 (00:53):
Did you really?
Speaker 2 (00:54):
From start to finish?
Speaker 1 (00:55):
Now, I did full clothes while watching it, walk the
dogs in between.
Speaker 2 (01:00):
But three hours.
Speaker 4 (01:01):
I was gonna say, I don't know how you walked
the dog during it?
Speaker 3 (01:03):
You yeah, watching on the phone. You know. I didn't
follow this case when he came out. I did, and
I saw this on Netflix, and it's like, Nah.
Speaker 2 (01:11):
You don't care.
Speaker 1 (01:12):
I started and it's been three hours exactly. For anyone
who doesn't know this case reset it for you. Lacy
Peterson was eight months pregnant when she disappeared on like
Christmas Eve.
Speaker 2 (01:24):
And then her husband.
Speaker 4 (01:25):
Who was this was the early two thousands, It's been
about twenty.
Speaker 1 (01:28):
Years, right, and she he would not really cooperate with
you know, authorities, and he seemed so suspicious all along,
and they were all these It was just such a
It captured the whole country, the world's attention. I think
the Christmas thing. I think the fact that she was pregnant,
you know that they seemed so happy, normal.
Speaker 3 (01:50):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:50):
Whatever.
Speaker 4 (01:51):
So did the documentary give you anything new to anything
that you didn't know?
Speaker 1 (01:55):
Well, you forget things from twenty years ago. I mean
I forget things from two days ago. But I never realized.
I guess I always assumed that investigators sort of found
Amber Fry mm hm. And you know the mississ the
other woman pushtar in front of the media, not the case.
She realized what was going on, and she was brave
(02:16):
enough to come out and say, look, this is what's
going on. Maybe I can help you because I want
to do this for Lacey and that child. I thought
that was and she's a part of the documentary too. Yeah,
a big part just sucked in Goodbye three Hours.
Speaker 4 (02:32):

hit the stores.
Speaker 4 (03:59):
What is Reese's Chocolate Big Cup.
Speaker 3 (04:01):
Yeah, it's like gooey sent Yeah, underneath the peanut butter.
It is like this layer of gooey chocolate.
Speaker 2 (04:07):
Stuff that sounds really good.
Speaker 3 (04:09):
That's almost like chocolate pudding in there.
Speaker 2 (04:10):
They're having so much fun with these Reeses and they're
all good.
Speaker 3 (04:14):
Yeah. You've seen that. Denny's l has a beetle juice
some menu.
Speaker 2 (04:18):
Oh no, that's fun.
Speaker 3 (04:20):
They have the beetle juicy Burger say it three times,
Grand Slam, the Afterlife Melt, and the cookies and scream Shake.
Speaker 2 (04:28):
Oh that's cute.
Speaker 1 (04:29):
And do you know what I love about Beetlejuice. Beetle
Juice being in theaters in September. There will be even
more and new updated Beetlejuice for Halloween.
Speaker 4 (04:39):
Oh oh yeah, costumes.
Speaker 3 (04:41):
I mean whole.
Speaker 1 (04:41):
Families can go, but you got to see the movie first,
because I do think they will have added like nuances.
Speaker 3 (04:48):
And some spicy stuff for you. Tapatillo, you know they
came out with their own macaroni and cheese. Well now
they partner it up with Idaho and they do the
little cups of potatoes.
Speaker 2 (04:56):
You can do them.
Speaker 3 (04:57):
And so now we have spicy cream potatoes. And Swanson

the ring It everything's gone spicy.
Speaker 2 (05:07):
Thank you food dude. Coming up next, Your Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 5 (05:12):
The Latest Buns. Jody's Hollywood Outsider, brought to you by eBay.
Speaker 2 (05:16):
I don't know if you remember that.
Speaker 1 (05:17):
Ryan Murphy has also given us an anthology series based
on real crime events. The first one was called Monster,
The Jeffrey Dahmer Story. Oh yeah, so the second one
is coming and it's called Monsters.
Speaker 2 (05:32):
It'll drop on Netflix in September.
Speaker 1 (05:36):
The Lyle and Eric Menendez Story what's the problem. Yeah, Okay,
so this one's gonna examine the nineteen ninety six conviction
of these brothers for the murders of their parents. And
I just got to say, this is a story. We're
(05:57):
talking about the Lacy Peterson thing. This is a crime
story that I did not follow, not like barely. I
don't know anything about it. Yeah, except that they, you know,
are killing their parents weren't. And the only thing I
do remember from it, and probably this is what turned
me off of it, is that young women across the
country were like in love with them.
Speaker 2 (06:17):
I remember thinking, oh no.
Speaker 1 (06:18):
Anyway, this is season two of this series debuts on
Netflix September nineteenth, if you dare Also, Lindsay Lohan said
that they wrapped filming Freaky or Friday this week, says,
my heart is so full. This story is even more emotional.
Jamie Lee Curtis confirmed it's been you know, they're wrapped
as well, and we get this movie in theaters in
(06:39):
twenty twenty.
Speaker 5 (06:40):
Five, coming up with Murphy Salm and Jody.
Speaker 1 (06:43):
Celebrity kids who are going off to college and will
they let everybody know who their parents are at this
time of the year, you see a lot of families
sharing pics and little stories and reels of their kids
moving off to college. You see the pictures of the
dorm rooms. I know, Sam that you helped Maddie and
Parker get situated. It's not just all of us. Celebrities
(07:08):
are doing it too. Have you seen some of the
celebrity kids moving off to college, and you know, it's
kind of like for those kids, I'm like, congratulations, you
can finally try to be your own person.
Speaker 3 (07:21):
Do you think that when they get there they don't
really tell people their last name?
Speaker 2 (07:24):
It depends on who they are.
Speaker 1 (07:25):
But for instance, like Shepherd Seinfeld, Jerry and Jessica's son
Shepherd making himself at home, making himself at home at
Duke University, he may.
Speaker 2 (07:35):
Not let people know who he is.
Speaker 3 (07:37):
It depends on how he talks with these classes.
Speaker 1 (07:41):
Honestly, you know, you at that age in your life,
those times in your life, you know, when you're a
teenager and young adult, you naturally your work is to
become your own person. So if you're always in the
shadow of of, hey, dude, is your dad really Seinfeld?
You need you need to go off to college and
(08:02):
start your own life. Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner's daughter,
Violet headed to Yale at a time worth. I mean,
Ben is in the news because of j Lo and
that divorce, of course, but this is not Ben and
Jen's child. It's Ben and Jennifer. No, But anyway, she's
(08:22):
at Yale. Violet, Katie Holmes daughter Surrey. You know that's
Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise's daughter. She's at Carnegie Mellon University,
and you know that she's a famous face. I'm sure
she has trouble, like, you know, getting out from the
shadow of Hey, your dad's Tom Cruise. But hopefully she
(08:43):
makes friends with people who get that, you know, let
her be her own person. Gwyneth Paltrow and her husband Brad,
their son Brody is at Yale.
Speaker 2 (08:52):
Has just moved in. They're sharing all that.
Speaker 3 (08:54):
Oh well, maybe he can hang with Seinfeld's kid at Yale.
Speaker 1 (08:58):
Maybe so like a famous kid section and in Guy Fieri,
his son Ryder off to San Diego State University.
Speaker 3 (09:05):
Oh, flavor town, you were going to say that.
Speaker 2 (09:09):
Coming up next, Three Things to Know Today.
Speaker 5 (09:13):
Here's three things to Know Today.
Speaker 3 (09:15):
Brought to you by doctor Marty Nature's plan Number one.
Speaker 1 (09:17):
If your whole office is sick and staying home, and
you keep hearing about people being sick.
Speaker 2 (09:21):
It's true. There is a COVID outbreak.
Speaker 1 (09:24):
It happens at the end of the summer, when back
to school happens and everybody starts getting back together, especially
in the South and the Midwest.
Speaker 2 (09:32):
And if you're looking to get a booster, they say,
good luck.
Speaker 1 (09:34):
There are a lot of vaccines that are just running out,
although the FDA is approving an updated shot that covers
most of the recent strains. Number two TSA getting ready
for a record Labor Day travel weekend. While they'll be
screening like seventeen million travelers passing through checkpoints from next
(09:56):
Thursday through September fourth, the biggest travel day is to
be Friday, the thirtieth of August, the busiest travel day
of the summer. We're all trying to get just a
little bit more summer out. Three million Americans have tickets
to fly somewhere that day on that day. And number
three you don't think about it ever going away, but
(10:16):
pumpkin spice latte is officially returning today at Starbucks and
then everywhere else really that you would ever buy it.
It's when they debut their fall menu, even though it's
there's a drop and enthusiasm for pumpkin spice because we've
had we've had so much pumpkins.
Speaker 3 (10:32):
Well and it's August.
Speaker 1 (10:33):
Hello, but you'll see psl on the doors and whatnot.
That means pumpkin spice latte. But the other drinks that
are having a moment, apple and cinnamon.
Speaker 5 (10:42):
You're up to date. Three things to know today.
Speaker 1 (10:47):
I want you to think about what places, what kind
of places, overwhelm you, because a lot of times we
have that, people have it. I will never forget the
time I could not wait to go to this big
shopping fair and I brought one of my friends and
I was like, so excited to go to all the
booths and shop and spend all day. And we walked
in and it was crowded and busy, and she was like,
(11:08):
I can't do this, and so she compromised with me,
and I got to hit a couple of booths and
then we left. Yeah, and it bears noting that not
everyone wants to be at a football game or at
a concert.
Speaker 4 (11:23):
A really thick crowd. Yeah, you're right. So it's very
easy to become anxious or even.
Speaker 1 (11:27):
Claustrophobic, Yeah, just overwhelmed. Over stimulated might be the word.
It makes me think of what we were talking about
earlier in the week, and we posted about if you've
ever been to a Bucky's. We had asked, Hey, what
are your favorite things to pick up there? If you've
ever had the chance to stop at one on the road,
the world's biggest convenience store gas station with all the barbecue,
(11:48):
sandwiches and whatnot. Tabitha says from our Facebook page. I
avoid that place like the play when I just need
to go potty, I maybe get a drink or a snack.
I don't need a mini for that, especially when traveling,
So it's really not for everyone, Isn't that crazy? Gail
says when we stop and she is talking about BUCkies.
(12:09):
We do it coming and going on our annual trip
to see our daughter. It's crowded, but it feels like
organized chaos, and you never have to spend an eternity
in any of the lines, so it's kind of like
give it a shot, you know, if you are overwhelmed
easily in crowds or by too much stuff going on,
at least try a place for one one time, right
(12:31):
and see if it's for you.
Speaker 3 (12:32):
I kind of had that feeling the summer when I
went to Fenway Park. Yes, on my summer trip. It's
an old stadium, so everything smaller. So like when you're
in the concourse area walking through, you're just it's like
gets cramped. You can't wait to get to the portal seat, right. Yeah,
it just just starts the anxiety going.
Speaker 1 (12:52):
I can tell you for sure that I remember when
we were Murphy, you and I were looking at houses together.
And if you go into a newer built home, high
ceilings and yeah, you know, big windows, a lot of
light coming in, and you go to the older, groovy
six nineteen sixties houses that you like, Murph, but there
are certain parts of it, like the ceiling height not
(13:13):
for you. You were remember you were feeling you're in
a cave.
Speaker 4 (13:17):
Yeah, exactly. It's so weird the mid century modern houses,
old old houses had high ceilings, and then somewhere along
the line, everybody decided to cramp it down and that's
come back in the other direction the last thirty years. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (13:28):
Yeah, just something to be aware of, you know, when
planning things with groups.
Speaker 2 (13:32):
Not everybody is about the big, big.
Speaker 3 (13:35):
Coming up it's seven fifty Tody's got three things to know.
Speaker 1 (13:38):
But next, Murphy's ice breaker for any business meeting tomorrow
is grateful Friday. And that means you let us know
about what's going on in your life, that you are
grateful for anything little or big eight seven seven three
one zero four MSJ.
Speaker 2 (13:55):
And you can get a jump on it today.
Speaker 4 (13:57):
So I have an idea for an ice breaker for
com It could be whether you're at a party or
whether you're in a work setting with a bun you know,
group that are just getting together.
Speaker 3 (14:05):
Amazing, you need this. I got a few Sam needs this.
Speaker 4 (14:09):
Someone suggested that when we go around the table and
say something about ourselves that no one would know. This
is a group that knows each other. But it's a
it's a business you know, it was a business gathering.
I love that, and so you know you could see,
you could see everybody's mind's kind of wrong and what
would what would be? So one person, one person has
(14:31):
has applied for every single reality TV show she could
ever apply. She's never been accepted, but it doesn't stop
her from doing that. Wow, which is kind of fun.
That's she's got a fascination with reality TV.
Speaker 3 (14:43):
Show.
Speaker 2 (14:43):
That's so, that's so cute. What a good icebreaker, you're right.
Speaker 4 (14:46):
Yeah, yeah, another guy who is it and you know
tech actually sang at Carnegie Hall. Oh when he was
in college. You had the opportunity to think at call
it Carnegie Hall.
Speaker 3 (14:57):
My god, that's pretty cool.
Speaker 4 (14:58):
But one of my fas favorites was somebody who previously
had worked for a post the stereo company. Oh and
he was the guy that was in charge of making
Coco Crispies.
Speaker 2 (15:12):
Oh my god, it was yeah.
Speaker 4 (15:15):
And he would actually get Coco Crispy boxes for a
dollar if he wanted. Looks like that's a deal for me.
That was like, I know, not to discredit anybody that's
saying at Carnegie Hall, but making Coco that's cool.
Speaker 2 (15:29):
You know what?
Speaker 1 (15:29):
This is so cool, proof that you Murphy management, Murphy
can still learn new tricks along the way, because I
think you bring this to our next meeting.
Speaker 3 (15:37):
What was what was yours? Murphy?
Speaker 4 (15:39):
Mine was that I was interviewed by Larry King when
I was a kid.
Speaker 1 (15:43):
Oh yeah, it.
Speaker 2 (15:44):
Seems Sam and I knew that.
Speaker 3 (15:46):
It's not so exciting.
Speaker 1 (15:47):
Thanks thanks, Coming up next, your Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 5 (15:53):
The Latest Buzz Jody's Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 3 (15:56):
Brought to you by eBay.
Speaker 1 (15:57):
Taylor Swift has officially ended the euro And leg of
The Era's tour, and she put out this beautiful thing
on social media where she's looking it came to a close,
these passionate crowds. But towards the end of what she posted,
she said, let me be very clear, I am not
going to speak about something publicly if I think it's
(16:18):
going to provoke those who would want to harm the
fans who come to the shows. And she said, in
cases like this, silence is actually showing restraint. She did
say it was devastating for them to have to cancel
the Vienna.
Speaker 3 (16:30):
I ever thought of that, but yeah, and so I
could see copycat stuff.
Speaker 1 (16:35):
I can remember right when those Vienna shows were canceled
and we didn't hear anything from her. It's kind of like, yes,
just wait, but you knew because she's so connected to
the fans and they, you know, sort of hang on
her every word, everybody was waiting for something.
Speaker 2 (16:49):
So there, that's why she addressed it. She said she
didn't want to say anything.
Speaker 1 (16:53):
Yeah, also wanted to let you know, speaking of Taylor,
her very famous boyfriend Travis Kelcey apparently, you know, he's
had the acting bug lately and he's he's coming. He's
in this upcoming Ryan Murphy series Grotesquer Ye oh yeah.
The word is he's going to be in a film
called Loose Cannons and apparently he has a small part.
And then Happy Gilmore sequel that's coming o. Adam Sandler
(17:17):
told Jimmy Fallon this week that we have something nice
for Travis.
Speaker 2 (17:20):
He asked, and we said, yes.
Speaker 5 (17:22):
Nice coming up with Murphy Samon Jody.
Speaker 3 (17:25):
We've got music News and it also includes Taylor Swift
and a gift she had for her fans wrapping up
the Era's tour in Europe.
Speaker 2 (17:33):
Sam's got music News, brought to you by Progressive.
Speaker 3 (17:36):
Taylor Swift dropped a new video on us for I
Can do It with a Broken Heart.
Speaker 2 (17:40):
I can do it with the book I Don't even
know what like album.
Speaker 3 (17:45):
This one from from the Poet Dead Poets album Dead.
Speaker 2 (17:49):
Poet Torture, Tortured Poets. It's okay, we all of the
jin axers make that mistake.
Speaker 3 (17:55):
And then you put out a video with a couple
of the guys from the movie in it, and it
really throws off anyway, I can do it with a
broken heart. She did this for the fans. It's a
little gift. She just wrapped up the European part of
the erastore. So the video is all behind the scenes.
It's behind the scenes of them rehearsing in this giant warehouse.
It's really cool. It's behind the scenes. You get to
see her, you know, where she dives into the stage.
(18:17):
You get to see her rideing under the stage to
get from one end to the other. Really, it's like
behind the scenes, but like really cool behind the scenes stuff.
Speaker 2 (18:24):
Of course, you seem super excited.
Speaker 3 (18:26):
It was like, wow, I never went to the concert,
but this is kind of cool watching it.
Speaker 2 (18:30):
And you're so excited. I don't even know who you
are today. Okay.
Speaker 3 (18:33):
She will pick back up, by the way, in October
back here in the States, you know, coming up of
the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in October the
induction ceremony. One of the bands going in is Foreigner Finally. Yeah,
so they've kind of gifted fans as well. They're going
to put out a new Greatest Hits album called Turning
Back the Time, and with it a new song. Well
it's a song that recorded back in nineteen ninety six.
(18:55):
Mick Jones and Lou Graham are both on this song
that sounds like Foreigner.
Speaker 2 (19:06):
It does.
Speaker 3 (19:08):
Very exciting, So maybe that perform that one when they're
inducted in October.
Speaker 1 (19:12):
Actually, aren't they The rock hall tells them what they're
going to perform.
Speaker 3 (19:16):
Oh, that's right, they have to perform that slow song. Sorry, yeah, yeah,
and they're not happy about the work whatever. By the way,
the album comes out October fourth, a couple of weeks
before the induction ceremony, and next Friday. If you're looking
for something fun to do for Labor Day weekend on
Friday and going through the whole week, well, Friday is
when it kicks off with Margaritaville Days. Jimmy Buffett Margaritaville Day.
(19:41):
They're going to have it all weekend at all their resorts,
all the Margaritaville cafes, free concerts, food deals on cheeseburgers
in Paradise and Margarite't even the Margeritaville cruise ship is
going to have specials as well, so you can raise
your glass and memory at Jimmy.
Speaker 2 (19:58):
Going up next. Three things to Know Today.
Speaker 5 (20:03):
Here's three things to Know today.
Speaker 3 (20:05):
Brought to by doctor Marty Natrius Blend.
Speaker 1 (20:07):
Number one Night three, last night of the Democratic National
Convention with some big names, former President Bill Clinton taking
the stage. But if you can believe it, the biggest
crowd reaction came toward the end of the evening when
Oprah walked.
Speaker 2 (20:21):
Up to the podium. That was the biggest reaction.
Speaker 1 (20:24):
And tonight, of course, Vice President Kamala Harris will formally
accept the Democratic nomination for president. Number two United Airlines
adding twenty flights to help get fans to college football games.
Are this this season thirty high profile games, so they're
expanding the services for all these flights. It'll be like
a you leave on Friday and you return on Sunday.
(20:47):
And some big matchups Texas at Michigan, Ohio State at Oregon,
Alabama at LSU. So United Airlines saying, you know what
college football, we need to help the fans out night.
And Number three, Chick fil A starts its own streaming
service with Family Friends shows and that's real. It's probably
(21:09):
coming later this year. Family friendly shows, some of them scripted,
some not, some animated things, including a Family Friendly game
show which is not animated. But yeah, other services and
other businesses even like Lyft and Airbnb getting into this business.
Speaker 2 (21:26):
So Chick fil A will as well.
Speaker 3 (21:28):
This is no disrespect. But is it going to work
on Sunday?
Speaker 2 (21:31):
I knew you were going to say, I'm serious. Of
course it will. It's the only Chick fil A you
can get on Sunday.
Speaker 5 (21:36):
You're up to date. Three things to know today, social
media Connect.
Speaker 2 (21:42):
We love hearing from you, and I mean it.
Speaker 1 (21:44):
Onto Instagram, on Facebook, on YouTube. You can email us
at Murphy Samonjody dot com.
Speaker 3 (21:50):

Speaker 1 (21:51):
Two eight seven seven three one zero four MSJ to
do that. I shared a personal keep the Wow online
this week How I came to be with you guys.
Speaker 2 (22:02):
You know, speak up, let people know what you want.
Speaker 1 (22:05):
My story is literally that you guys were looking for
a female to join the show, and you know sort
of you.
Speaker 3 (22:11):
Know, nobody applied, but you not true?
Speaker 4 (22:14):
Why who wants to hang out with these guys? Somehow
convinced you to marry So I guess that was.
Speaker 2 (22:21):
That was completely separate from work.
Speaker 3 (22:23):
Murphy.
Speaker 1 (22:24):
Let's not cloud the story here, but the story being
that you guys I overheard that you were going to
be auditioning, you know, a female, but you wanted one
who had previous show experience, which I did not have any.
Speaker 2 (22:37):
But I knew we had chemistry.
Speaker 1 (22:39):
So the story is that I stepped into your office
on a Thursday afternoon and I said, Murphy, I think
that you should give me a shot, and you probably roll.
Speaker 3 (22:48):
Some Jack Daniels, Oh, not that kind of shot.
Speaker 1 (22:51):
Anyway, I auditioned the next Monday and I never left.
Speaker 2 (22:55):
I never left the chair.
Speaker 1 (22:56):
The rest is history, and I was just sharing that
as I keep the wow story and John sent this like,
so glad Murphy gave you the shot. I would never
be a fan if it wasn't for the three of
you as one with Sam Sham.
Speaker 4 (23:10):
And I weren't fans of us before it was the
story of us.
Speaker 1 (23:13):
With Sam your work husband, and Murphy your actual husband.
The show wouldn't be what it is ten years and
still listening for John, isn't that sweet?
Speaker 3 (23:21):
Nice?
Speaker 1 (23:22):
Stephen says, I chuckle every time you tell this story.
I love the hoot SPA. Thank you for that, And
Donna says, the only missed opportunity is the one we
don't take.
Speaker 3 (23:35):
Oh, that's cool.
Speaker 2 (23:36):
I like that.
Speaker 1 (23:37):
You want to move on to guys some dad jokes
since we're dropping the sure, Jessica says, why did the
bald guy still have a comb.
Speaker 2 (23:48):
Because he couldn't part with it?
Speaker 3 (23:50):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (23:52):
Oh, did you get it?
Speaker 3 (23:54):
Hearts his hair right, she said.
Speaker 4 (23:56):
She sent us that because we've been talking about how
laughter is an important part of the family.
Speaker 1 (24:00):
The element children who show you if you use humor
while raising your children, they will feel closer to you.
Speaker 3 (24:06):
What did the drummer name his twin daughters. I don't know,
Anna one, Anna two.
Speaker 4 (24:16):
At a one.
Speaker 2 (24:17):
Keep it coming.
Speaker 1 (24:18):
We love having you along. Coming up simple, no duh.
Ways to save money? Do you believe that a billionaire
could be frugal?
Speaker 4 (24:29):
I think sometimes to become a billionaire you would have
to be frug such a smart well, I mean, I've
read that before. Look, there's some people that strike it rich.
But if anything that you read, most people who are
wealthy get there by not spending more than they earned.
So yes, you've got to be frugal.
Speaker 3 (24:44):
There's some professional athletes, you know, they make millions of
dollars a year. And I've read the stories before where
the guy that he just lives in his van, or
somebody lives in a one bedroom apartment. Correct, it's like
they're not about the frills. They're about doing their job
and saving their money or investing.
Speaker 1 (24:58):
Right, and bring it up because you know, in Buffett
is a billionaire but apparently very frugal. He still lives
in the house that he bought in nineteen fifty eight.
Do you guys know that that's the word Murphy, You
probably all about warm Buffett.
Speaker 4 (25:13):
Yeah, I mean he's one that I've studied. I love that.
Now he does have other houses, but yes, he still
has the original house that he bought. He does, I mean, right,
but he does not live lavishly like that, correct. Right.
In fact, I think I read at one point he
was he drove you know, the Cadillac that he bought
like fifteen twenty years ago or something.
Speaker 2 (25:31):
Well, that's one of his he's in.
Speaker 4 (25:32):
His nineties now, though I don't know if he's still dry.
Speaker 1 (25:34):
That's one of his things. Don't buy a brand new car.
He never He doesn't believe in buying brand new. So
that's him. Another rule. Eat at home. He does not
go out to eat a lot. That would be so tough. Yeah,
for us if we hit it, big man, if we
won the lottery, Murphy would be like Filly every night.
Speaker 3 (25:54):
But again, what does at home mean for him? Does
he have a personal chef?
Speaker 2 (25:58):
Oh, I don't know.
Speaker 4 (25:59):
I don't think. I just don't know.
Speaker 2 (26:01):
Actually we don't know what that means.
Speaker 3 (26:03):
I don't.
Speaker 4 (26:03):
I don't think I could eat out every night though, anyway,
even if I did, because if if you've ever done this,
like if you're traveling, at some point, you like, Okay,
I need to eat something I make for myself.
Speaker 2 (26:11):
Now more of his rules. Don't waste money on gambling.
Speaker 1 (26:16):
Save first, do not save what's left after spending, but
spend what is left after saving.
Speaker 2 (26:24):
Ooh, let that settle in.
Speaker 1 (26:26):
And finally, and this he feels like this is a
big one for so many people families. Ditch your credit
card or only use it sparingly. Yeah, that's tough to do,
but that would that would help you to not get
in not get into debt.
Speaker 4 (26:42):
Does he say anything about Ben shopping on Amazon? Was there?
Speaker 2 (26:50):
Come out?
Speaker 4 (26:50):
Next? Jody has your Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 5 (26:54):
Trending now. Jody's Hollywood Outsider brought to you by eBay.
Speaker 1 (26:58):
Right before the Olympics in Paris. On Netflix, we had
a documentary drop called Simone Biles Rising.
Speaker 2 (27:05):
I've always had really good intuition about things, and unfortunately
I felt that way about the Olympics.
Speaker 1 (27:12):
She was talking about the Tokyo Olympics there where she
had the twisties and all of this.
Speaker 2 (27:16):
So I watched.
Speaker 1 (27:16):
As soon as that thing dropped, I watched it. And
so it said it was a four part docuseries documentary,
and so there were two episodes that you could watch
about her explaining what she went through in Tokyo and
then how she's you know, planning to was planning this
big comeback. So the other two episodes we heard were
coming in the fall. So now part two of it,
the last two episodes, we now have a date on Netflix,
(27:40):
Simone Biles Rising. The other two will drop October twenty fifth.
Not soon enough for me, but you understand its h
from Paris, yes, and not just highlights and not just
her you know, meeting Snoop and all that, but her battle,
her struggle, the things that we didn't see, things that
she was going through behind the scenes. So look for
that on netlik Flix in October. Coming up tonight at
(28:02):
the d n C, the opening act for Kamala Harris.
You know there's been a lot of entertainment D music.
It's pink tonight. Now nobody knows whether to expect the
aerial act. Oh yeah, it will be the entertainment before
Kamala Harris accepts the nomination. Which one of you is
asking about getting a blank fortune cookie?
Speaker 3 (28:24):
I got one?
Speaker 4 (28:25):
Yeah, Sam, got a blank one that only happened to
me once a long time ago. Okay, it was actually
a very lucky day.
Speaker 2 (28:30):
What did we what did we decide?
Speaker 1 (28:32):
A blank fortune cookie means that you write it yourself.
Speaker 3 (28:35):
I googled it. Did two things. Number one, fate hasn't
decided yet for you, so it's a blank page. The
other one is it's your choice to write your own
blah blah blah ah.
Speaker 1 (28:45):
So that's like the mythical sort of Yeah, it's not
the actually just misprinted at the or it's.
Speaker 3 (28:50):
A piece of paper and a cookie that means nothing.
It doesn't matter.
Speaker 2 (28:55):
Okay, So was you Sam that got that?
Speaker 1 (28:57):
Yeah? Leslie sent this to Murphy, Sam and Jody dot Com.
Fortunecookie from a dead Husband question mark. Our custom is
to ask a question and open the fortune cookie for
the answer.
Speaker 4 (29:11):
Oh wow.
Speaker 1 (29:12):
Shortly after my husband passed away, I went with friends
to a Chinese restaurant that he and I often went to.
I chose my cookie and missing him dearly. His name
was Cliff. I asked it, when will I see my
husband again? I cracked open the cookie and gasps when
I gasped. When I read the fortune, it said the
(29:33):
one you love is closer than you think.
Speaker 3 (29:36):
Ooh.
Speaker 1 (29:38):
I have kept that lovely fortune in a small frame
on my dresser for the last twenty one years. Coincidence,
I don't think so. But even if it was a
coincidence coincidence, I still find it very comforting.
Speaker 3 (29:53):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (29:53):
I had to share that with you, Beason.
Speaker 3 (29:55):
It is so sweet.
Speaker 1 (29:57):
Yeah, that's and you know you keep those sort of
things for your own comfort.
Speaker 3 (30:02):
Do you keep something because I have like three or
four on my fridge.
Speaker 2 (30:06):
I mean I do.
Speaker 1 (30:07):
I don't know that I've ever kept a fortune cookie,
but I kept something that someone wrote to me on
a sticky note once. It was our friend Chris that
we worked for. He was one of our first bosses.
He was the boss that we had to go to
Murphy and say, Hey, we want to get married.
Speaker 2 (30:24):
Can we still work together? Huh huh? Can we?
Speaker 1 (30:27):
He wrote, He gave me a little sticky note that
had his motto on it.
Speaker 2 (30:33):
I can't remember that.
Speaker 3 (30:35):
I see it stuck.
Speaker 4 (30:37):
Do you remember.
Speaker 1 (30:42):
He gave me that as a matter of confidence and
I kept it because I admired him. Obviously, not enough
to remember thee. Thank you, Leslie for that beautiful email.
