Speaker 1 (00:01):
It's Grateful Friday, and we do mean we want to
hear about all the little things. You're grateful for so much, Murphy.
You don't even know this, but my mom's going to
be at the house later today grateful.
Speaker 2 (00:10):
Well, I'm grateful for that too. Do you notice I'm
crushing my finger when I say that. No, I'm kidding.
Speaker 1 (00:16):
I'm picking her up or spending some time together. Then
I'm going to bring her back to the house.
Speaker 2 (00:19):
Actually, I'm good because she needs to get out. I
don't mean that in a bad way.
Speaker 3 (00:23):
I'm just saying that's what you say when she leaves.
Speaker 2 (00:25):
But you know, sometimes man, you know, but you know,
as someone gets later in life and they're retired, sometimes
they just say in their comfort zone and it's better
to get out.
Speaker 1 (00:37):
And you know, she has some struggles with her eyesight. Yeah,
so driving. I'm always like, when you want to come
to the house, let me come get.
Speaker 4 (00:44):
You see if Murphy is there or not.
Speaker 3 (00:47):
Okay, she now, Randy. Anyway, I'm grateful to see my mom.
Speaker 1 (00:52):
I'm also grateful for our oldest Taylor, who is still
working at the Dog the Doggy day care place. Although
you can tell she's kind of get and you know
it's not that the shine has worn off, but you
know she'll come home worn out and I'm like, what
was you know, what was today? Like she says, twenty
dogs in the romper room, Like watching twenty dogs.
Speaker 2 (01:12):
There's not a lot of downtime, you know what I mean.
She's having to focus the whole time to break up anything.
Speaker 1 (01:17):
Whenever she gets home from that job and she and
the doll are dogs wants to immediately go to her
and sniff her.
Speaker 3 (01:23):
She's like, get off me.
Speaker 1 (01:25):
Yeah right, she's had enough. I also want to share this.
This came in from Nora to keep the wow this week,
and we're grateful that you shared that. I love my job.
I absolutely love it. I could tell you stories every
day about my patients. She works in a hospital. My
patients feel make me feel special. This one, in particular
is my WOW for this week.
Speaker 3 (01:45):
Jodie. She's an older lady, old enough to be my mom.
Speaker 1 (01:48):
But keep in mind that she has a touch of
dementia and I've been a nurturer to her. This particular
patient looked at me and said.
Speaker 3 (01:55):
Can I call you mom?
Speaker 4 (01:57):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (01:57):
And she says, oh my gosh, how much that touched
my heart. I really really really loved my job.
Speaker 3 (02:02):
And my patience.
Speaker 2 (02:04):
Nora beautiful.
Speaker 1 (02:05):
Thank you for sharing her with us. We love having
you along and you can jump in so many ways.
Also eight seven seven three one zero four msj.
Speaker 2 (02:16):
Coming up in six fifty, Jody has three things to
Know Today.
Speaker 3 (02:19):
Coming up next, Sam is food Dude.
Speaker 4 (02:21):
Yeah, got a holiday favorite that's available early at Costco.
Speaker 5 (02:26):
Sam's always up on the new eats.
Speaker 6 (02:28):
He's the food.
Speaker 3 (02:29):
Dude, brought to you by Famous Footwear.
Speaker 4 (02:31):
Don't you guys sing the praises of Costco's pumpkin pie
every year?
Speaker 2 (02:35):
Pretty much sing the praises of Costco everything.
Speaker 3 (02:37):
Their cheesecake too. Yeah, crazy three.
Speaker 4 (02:40):
And a half pounds is pumpkin pie. Yeah us from
September two December that it's available, but they said, you
know what, we're going to get him in August.
Speaker 3 (02:47):
This year, and here's what's up. It's really good, but
for the price, it's huge.
Speaker 4 (02:51):
Yeah, I have ninety nine.
Speaker 1 (02:52):
I brought it home the first year we tried it,
and I put it on my little cake plate and
I tried to cover it.
Speaker 3 (02:58):
No, no can do.
Speaker 1 (02:59):
I not a hole in it accidentally, because it's just
bigger than the cake plate.
Speaker 4 (03:02):
Well, they're keeping the price at five ninety nine. There
are some folks on Reddit who think the recipe has changed.
Speaker 1 (03:08):
But you know, oh, okay, whatever, you can't buy a
pumpkin for that.
Speaker 3 (03:12):
You're right, you can't.
Speaker 2 (03:14):
Well we'll have to buy one and try it and
see what the reddit folks are if they're right or wrong. Jody,
if you.
Speaker 4 (03:19):
Have a craven for smash burgers but you just don't
want to get your hands dirty or smash anything, good
news the other warehouse, Sam's Club. You can now buy
pre smash smash burgers.
Speaker 3 (03:29):
Oh that's cute.
Speaker 4 (03:30):
The meat, it's smash. You have to cook them, but
they're already smashed.
Speaker 1 (03:32):
One of my favorite things to watch online anymore is
people just smashing burgers with the onions and whatnot.
Speaker 2 (03:37):
What Yeah, don't you agree. Who's got the time to
mash smash meat right now? It's too much extra effort.
Speaker 4 (03:45):
I got thirty seconds out of my day. Honey baked, haam.
They said, hey, you know we're here year round, not
just for the holidays. How about tailgating. Okay, so they
got some tailgate ideas for us this year, taking bag
pulled pork Cuban sliders. We can get a box of
those a sandwich platter. Even their hams and turkeys. They
said they'll give y'all the sides with it and you know,
(04:07):
everything for tailgate, And.
Speaker 3 (04:08):
I think that's cool. That's a good thing to just
remind people.
Speaker 4 (04:11):
Yeah, Panera Bread has a couple of new breakfast offerings
new well, I almost said Chris sandwich, but that's Burger King.
But they are croissant croissant breakfast sandwiches bacon, egg and cheese,
sausage and egg and cheese and then just egg and cheese.
And they've also added some pastry stuff if the bread.
Speaker 3 (04:33):
I don't know all that bread. I mean, well, it's.
Speaker 2 (04:37):
Duh. Okay, you're right, you said that.
Speaker 4 (04:41):
I would have said bag, bacon, egg and cheese.
Speaker 2 (04:44):
But see, shouldn't they do this then they're known for it,
should be a bag at breakfast. I don't know. They
weren't paying me to do that now they weren't.
Speaker 4 (04:50):
And Beyonce is coming out with her own whiskey, Sir
Davis whiskey. You can look for it in stores.
Speaker 5 (04:55):
Now coming up with Murphy Salmon.
Speaker 2 (04:57):
Jody, Jody has your Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 6 (05:01):
Trending Now Jody's Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 4 (05:03):
Brought to you by eBay.
Speaker 1 (05:04):
We all know that Adam Sandler is bringing us Happy
Gilmore too.
Speaker 4 (05:08):
All right, let's go.
Speaker 1 (05:10):
He told Jimmy Fallon this week that, yeah, he made
up there's a lot of you know, cameos, and Travis
Kelsey's one of them. Travis wanted to be a part
of it. He's like, we're going to make that happen.
So I think that's kind of cute. But the other
thing to know is that filmmakers are not using actors
only here.
Speaker 3 (05:28):
They're going to use a lot of real people.
Speaker 1 (05:29):
And so they have for speaking roles too in Happy Gilmore,
and so auditions have become nuts. They did a casting
call at a hotel in New Jersey and a couple
of thousand people showed up, and of course a lot
of them are wearing hockey jersey. So Happy Gilmore is
really it's underway, you know, it's in production. I have
(05:51):
news about Kevin Costner's first version of Horizon this year.
Speaker 4 (05:55):
I haven't had much need, but yeah, because they won't
show it in the.
Speaker 1 (05:59):
Theater, I keep bringing it up because I mean, I
was excited about this too, and then the moment we
heard it was three plus hours.
Speaker 3 (06:07):
Just for the first part.
Speaker 2 (06:08):
You're excited, thought.
Speaker 1 (06:09):
Kevin, how about one hour per film and then drop
it on a streaming service and I'll be done with
it for the weekend by it in a weekend. Anyway,
the word is it flopped badly in June. They pulled
it quickly. It's going to resurface. In fact, it's there
today on Max. If you'd like to spend a few.
Speaker 5 (06:27):
Hours coming up with Murphy, Sam and Jody.
Speaker 4 (06:30):
I'll love to hear from you at eight seven seven
three one zero four MSJ.
Speaker 1 (06:34):
Coming to you, Michael, join the conversation anytime. Eight seven
seven three one zero four MSJ.
Speaker 2 (06:43):
So, Jody, Michael is calling about an idea that he
has for our oldest daughter, Taylor, since she works at
a doggy daycare. It's going on, Michael.
Speaker 7 (06:51):
I lived in San Diego for a early long time.
Speaker 3 (06:53):
Uh huh, and.
Speaker 7 (06:55):
When I was out there, this is just maybe kind
of an idea that maybe your daughter could pick up on.
Speaker 2 (07:00):
I don't know.
Speaker 7 (07:00):
San Diego State University had started a program with the
local Humane Society. Oh yes, where during finals times they
would set up a portable kennel in the middle of
the big courtyard that they had and bring all the
dogs that were waiting to be adopted, and the kids,
the students and faculty at final time could come out
(07:24):
on their break and hang out with the dogs and
release their stress as totally maybe adopt the dogs. It
was just kind of a really neat program.
Speaker 1 (07:33):
Going back several years when our girls were in elementary school,
one of the moms was very involved with the local
shelter and they did the same thing. She brought puppies
for recess, you know, and everybody got to pet and
it worked. It was just a happy thing that they
needed on a day that could have been all tension.
Speaker 7 (07:54):
Absolutely. I did meet a couple of the students that
ended up adopting, you know.
Speaker 3 (08:00):
Oh yeah, you know.
Speaker 7 (08:01):
And it's so cool how dogs are so intuitive, because
one of the students I met, she found a dog,
hung out with it for about an hour. Two months later,
was able to go back and adopt it, and that
dog was like, she never left me exactly.
Speaker 3 (08:17):
Oh yeah, oh that dog now knew her scent everything.
I know.
Speaker 1 (08:21):
You know, we don't deserve dogs as a rule, We
don't deserve how good. They are absolutely thank you for this.
Speaker 7 (08:28):
Thank you for your show, and I wish Taylor the
best of luck of everything. And I'm still loving your
show whenever I get to listen on my way into work.
So y'all have a great weekend. Thank you so much.
Speaker 2 (08:38):
We appreciated Michael.
Speaker 1 (08:39):
She's learning a lot at this job, you know, and
it's one of those things that's a stepping stone for her.
She's not going into dog therapy or dog dog psychology,
but kind of replies, you can learn something for sure.
And she does come home with some really cool names,
like yeah, she's like, mom, I met a new dog today.
Speaker 3 (08:57):
Her name is Prada.
Speaker 2 (09:00):
Oh my favorite is still Ozzie Pausborn.
Speaker 3 (09:05):
Coming up next, Three things to Know Today.
Speaker 6 (09:09):
Here's three things to Know Today.
Speaker 4 (09:11):
Brought to you by doctor Marty Nature's Plan Number one.
Speaker 1 (09:13):
Last night was the final night of the Democratic National Convention,
and after a day of rumors that hey, maybe Beyonce
is going to show up, or maybe Taylor Swift. Even
former President George W. Bush it was rumored that he
would make an appearance. He did not. Of course, we
did see Pink do a performance of What About Us
with her daughter Willow before Vice President Kamala Harris accepted
(09:37):
her party's nomination. It is, by the way, seventy three
days until the election. Number two, NASA will decide tomorrow
what to do with the stranded astronauts. Those two astronauts
on the International Space Station. They were supposed to be
there for an eight day trip. It's been seventy seven days.
Can you imagine what they're dealing with or what they're
(09:58):
living without.
Speaker 4 (09:59):
They could be there well, no, they have stuff on.
Speaker 3 (10:01):
The space here, they have enough.
Speaker 4 (10:03):
Well, they could be there through next year.
Speaker 3 (10:05):
Until right to get through sometime in February.
Speaker 1 (10:07):
Correct, But NASA will announce tomorrow the plans for those astronauts.
And number three, a search and rescue team in California
found an elderly hiker who'd been missing for thirty hours,
and they found Jay Leno along the way.
Speaker 4 (10:21):
He was the elderly hiker. No, he was.
Speaker 1 (10:23):
Getting ready for a drive in the canyon in one
of his sports cars and he ended up posing for
pictures with the rescue team. They found the hiker by
the way after searching, and he was dehydrated.
Speaker 5 (10:34):
But AOK, you're in the note Three things to know today.
Judy's Top five entertainment stories of the week.
Speaker 2 (10:42):
Brought to you by T Mobile.
Speaker 1 (10:43):
Number five, Dolly Parton launched a beauty line this week.
So cool that she's doing this at seventy eight years old.
Four lipsticks came out and they're covered in crystals on
the outside of the capsule, Honey Plum Rosebud birthday suit
and and of course Jolene Red. Expect more to come
(11:03):
soon from Dolly.
Speaker 5 (11:04):
Number four, a woman.
Speaker 1 (11:06):
Was arrested in the scheme to take down Graceland and
to take Graceland from the Elvis Presley family this week.
Her name was Lisa Janine, by the way, and I
think we're going to eventually get the whole story, hopefully
a docu series or something to understand how she created
fake deeds, a fake investment firm, fake foreclosure notices and
(11:26):
all this stuff.
Speaker 2 (11:27):
I still don't know how you do that thinking you're
not going to get.
Speaker 1 (11:29):
Caught, Well, not with Riley key O don't go after
his granddaughter coming.
Speaker 3 (11:34):
To the rescue there.
Speaker 6 (11:35):
Number three, all this.
Speaker 1 (11:37):
Really sad, difficult news about the death of Matthew Perry
wants to remind everybody that, I mean, it's on the
cover of people magazine right now, it's justice for Matthew Perry.
But no, if you dig into that article, it's hard
to read. It's hard to read about the last days
of his life. But Marta Kaufman, one of the producers
of Friends. The reminder this week is that she said, look,
(11:59):
I knew him very well. He was a dear friend,
and he would want the world to remember him for
the comedy that he brought and the joy he brought.
So please remember him that way.
Speaker 3 (12:11):
Number two, here's a big one.
Speaker 1 (12:12):
Jennifer Lopez walked right into a courtroom this week and
filed by herself, no lawyer around, for divorced from Ben Affleck.
And what's so crazy about that was two years to
the date of their fancy wedding.
Speaker 4 (12:26):
Coincidence, I think not.
Speaker 3 (12:28):
They do not have a pre nup or did not
have one.
Speaker 1 (12:30):
The only thing they owned together was this Beverly Hills
mansion that they've listed and they're trying to sell. Things
got so so bad. The word is he didn't want
to work on anything, and she's like, oh no, we work.
Number one and Taylor Swift sort of explains her recent
silence as she posted this week about wrapping up the
European leg of the Era's tour. She thanked authorities. She says,
(12:52):
let's thank them. I'm grateful for them that we were
grieving concerts and not lives. She's speaking about the Vienna
shows that were canceled.
Speaker 3 (13:00):
Part of it's beautiful.
Speaker 1 (13:01):
Let me be very clear, I'm not going to speak
about something publicly if I think doing so might provoke
those who would want to harm the fans who come
to the shows. And she said, in this case, silence
was actually showing restraints waiting to express herself.
Speaker 3 (13:16):
Good for Taylor, very beautifully done.
Speaker 2 (13:18):
Joni's top five entertainment stories of the week coming up.
Love to hear from you eight seven seven three one
zero four MSJ.
Speaker 4 (13:24):
Got a text from Brandy about what overwhelms her around
the house.
Speaker 6 (13:29):
Subscribe to the Murphy, Sam and Jody podcast.
Speaker 3 (13:32):
Free and Easy and It's Grateful Friday.
Speaker 1 (13:34):
I want to check some of your grateful comments, Amy Synthus,
and we are just returning home from vacation. Very grateful
for all those that make it possible for us to
go away for a little bit to de stress and relax. Ah,
that's a beautiful thing, because you know you have neighbors
that help you hopefully with mail. You have dog sitters,
pet sitters, if you have pets at home, yeah, you
(13:55):
know you hopefully have.
Speaker 3 (13:57):
All of that.
Speaker 4 (13:57):
Takes a village, you know what.
Speaker 1 (13:59):
And when I have a neighborhoods they're gone and they
have a bunch of boxes pile up in front of
the door. I want to call and text and go.
Do you want me to go get those because it happens. Yeah,
giveaway that you're not home.
Speaker 4 (14:11):
You might find something good.
Speaker 3 (14:14):
Nicola.
Speaker 1 (14:15):
I hope that's the right way the name is spelled
n I K O L A. Nicola. Grateful for you guys,
family and big schools starting back up, all right, Grateful
for back to school. Love that, so keep it coming.
It is grateful Friday. We have this text that came in.
You can always call or text us eight seven seven
(14:37):
three one zero four ms J. And this is from
Brandy about we were talking about where certain people get overwhelmed.
Speaker 3 (14:45):
Yeh, big stores, you know where there's too much.
Speaker 1 (14:49):
Stuffs, right too, Yeah, crowds, whatever. And if you are
extroverted or you like all of that, you like a
football stadium, You've never thought about the fact that some
people it's too much, and we were just sort of
talking about that and bringing attention to it. Brandy said,
something that people don't mention much is introverted parents who
(15:10):
have extroverted kids.
Speaker 3 (15:13):
I have four kids.
Speaker 1 (15:14):
I love them dearly, but my home gets over stimulating
for me at times. Oh, Brandy, Yeah, you know I'm
at times I have felt that way, and I'm not introverted.
Speaker 4 (15:28):
I've had a couple of exes that when all the
kids get together, you know, five kids, and they start
doing their kid things, playing off of each other, inside
jokes and all they overwhelmed.
Speaker 3 (15:38):
The exes are overwhelmed.
Speaker 4 (15:40):
Yeah, you took care of that.
Speaker 3 (15:44):
By making them.
Speaker 2 (15:46):
The thing is, it's such a short season. It's very real, obviously,
but it's a short season before you know it.
Speaker 1 (15:52):
But Brandy, I do think it's okay for you to go, Okay,
I'm stepping back in your corner and take care of
you in that match. Absolutely coming out up your Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 5 (16:03):
Jody's Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 4 (16:05):
Brought you by eBay.
Speaker 1 (16:06):
A couple of new movies debuting at the box office
this week, and I want to take you there because
we've known this was coming. A lot of critics don't
like that it was even made. But the new version
of the Crow.
Speaker 5 (16:19):
When someone dies a crow, carry that soap to the
nun of the dead.
Speaker 1 (16:25):
Especially the creators of the first movie that started Brandon
Lee the Crow, they never wanted this touched. But it's
been done and redone in a new way with some
big names. Bill Scarsguard in the lead here, Fka Twigs
also in the lead here.
Speaker 3 (16:40):
They're soulmates. One of them is brutally murdered.
Speaker 4 (16:43):
How much meant in real life?
Speaker 3 (16:44):
Oh no, no, no, no, I'm talking. I'm taking you to
the movie here.
Speaker 1 (16:48):
Anyway, he's given a chance to try to save his
true love by sacrificing himself.
Speaker 3 (16:53):
You get it.
Speaker 1 (16:53):
It looks really, it looks like something you would have seen,
you'd see in I don't know, a graphic novel come
to life.
Speaker 3 (17:00):
It's an hour fifty one minutes long.
Speaker 4 (17:02):
Of course it's a short one.
Speaker 1 (17:03):
Of course it's rated R and critics are also saying
it's self serious and it's a gloom fest. We also
have Blink Twice, which is a thriller you may have
heard a lot about, starring Channing Tatum, and it was
it's the directorial debut of Zoe Kravitz and you know
there are a couple now. So she directed this movie.
He's in it. It's a psychological thriller. Look for that one,
(17:26):
also rated r That one's short too. An our forty three.
Speaker 5 (17:29):
Minutes Coming up with Murphy, Sam and Jody find out.
Speaker 4 (17:32):
If something's still going on inside your head while you're unconscious.
Speaker 3 (17:37):
When you are unconscious and well, what's funny?
Speaker 2 (17:43):
Sam's picturing and thinking anything from passing out from too
much alcohol.
Speaker 4 (17:47):
Te no, no, no, I'm sorry, cartoon.
Speaker 1 (17:50):
Brains run wildly, Okay, Well, when you're unresponsive.
Speaker 3 (17:55):
Unconscious? The word is this is a new studying.
Speaker 1 (17:57):
I think it's fascinating that most people are If you're
talking to someone and they're like unresponsive or unconscious, their
brain is trying to respond. Their brain might be answering
questions inside.
Speaker 2 (18:10):
Okay, so you mean medically unconscious? Is that what you mean? Like?
Speaker 1 (18:14):
If yes, okay, don't I don't mean from a too
much party.
Speaker 4 (18:18):
Well, so they've tried to you know, they've tried to
prove that or say that for years with the like
persons ut are in Coma's back. You know what's going
on in there?
Speaker 1 (18:27):
Of course, constantly study I will never forget this. I'm
gonna say this. When my grandmother was very, very sick
in the last days of her life, she died of
cancer and she was on some serious pain medicine and
sleeping a ton. I remember walking into the room and
her best friend was there, Miss Ruby, her best friend,
(18:47):
and she she and I started talking, and she was
speaking loudly because she's like, I want her to hear us.
And if anyone came into the room and said anything
sort of negative or glom or to Miss Ruby would
start shaking her head and she'd come and she'd bring
us out into the hallsday and whisper. The last thing
to go is that she could hear you, even though
it doesn't seem like she can. What if she can
(19:08):
hear you? And I was like, Miss Ruby, no, wonder
you are her best friend? Yeah, but yeah say that.
The new study finds that most people are actually responding
in their brains.
Speaker 3 (19:18):
If a doctor's there, going, do you need anything?
Speaker 1 (19:20):
Or do you know who's here? Do you know what
day it is? Even if they can't physically physically respond,
the brain can still be going. And you need to
know that.
Speaker 2 (19:30):
I wonder if it's frustrating though, too, because if you
can't make the physical response, but in your mind you're
hearing that.
Speaker 1 (19:36):
The patients in the study were given brain scans while
they were seemingly unconscious, and doctors found that a quarter
of them were performing activities in their heads. So the brain,
you've still almost always still going.
Speaker 2 (19:51):
Coming up next, Jody has three things to Know Today.
Speaker 6 (19:56):
Three things to Know Today.
Speaker 4 (19:57):
Brought to you by doctor Marty Nature's blame.
Speaker 3 (20:00):
Umber one.
Speaker 1 (20:00):
The US Post Office proposing changes to save three billion
per year starting next year, including some of the changes
they're going to adjust delivery times. To me, it seems
like you're going to maybe get it less often during
the week.
Speaker 3 (20:14):
Or something like that. They said.
Speaker 1 (20:15):
The thing that will not change, they won't. It won't
affect medications being mailed. Those will be delivered at their
current speed or faster, they promise. Number two, new COVID
vaccine has been approved and could be in drug stores
by Monday. It's the new booster shot as well for
the latest strains, the one that has made tons of
(20:36):
Americans sick this summer towards right now. It really is,
so look for that as early as Monday. If it's
something that you are concerned about want to get on
top of. And number three, the latest social media trend
that TSA is aware of and they don't like it.
It's called airport tray esthetic. What's that People are taking
(20:58):
extra time with their airport portray at security to make
sure it looks neat and cute and they take a
picture of it, you know, cute pair of shoes, some
sunglasses and prating your stuff in the bin, putting it
in the bin, sort of staging it to make it
look a certain way. And it's called I don't know either,
what's why? Well, don't you like things neat and tidy?
Speaker 3 (21:18):
I know you do? Anyway to prove it.
Speaker 1 (21:20):
TSA is aware of it and they're doing their best
to move everything along.
Speaker 6 (21:24):
You're in the note three things to know today.
Speaker 3 (21:29):
Grateful Friday.
Speaker 1 (21:30):
That means you drop it on us what you're grateful
for little or big eight seven seven three one zero
four MSJ.
Speaker 2 (21:38):
So this is so weird because you can go through
your life and something doesn't happen, and then the same
thing happens twice within twenty four hours. Yeah, which was
really weird. So you remember I was traveling recently and
they had to bring a start card out to the jet,
which my first experience with that. It's a very common thing.
But I didn't know this, and I think my dad
(21:58):
had taught me one time that jet engines don't start
the same way that a cars, you know, starts with
an ignition switch. It takes air pressure to start turning
the engine, and it has to turn it a certain
speed before everything then starts to kick in and the
actual ignition with fuel can start. And so that's either
done with a little motor that's inside of the plane itself,
or it's done with the motor that's out you know
(22:19):
that somebody brings to the plane to start. Yes, exactly, yeah,
and so so on the way. I was on a
plane for almost three hours the other day that wouldn't start,
and they had three different start cards. And when they
do the start card, it makes a really weird, windy
kind of noise because it's air pressure that's turning you know,
the jet engine over and you're not used to that.
(22:41):
So as a passenger, you're first thought it, okay, is
this thing safe to take off in? And and it is,
but so never happened. Plane takes off, we're good And
when I'm coming home. Sure enough, the flight that I'm
on yesterday start card again, it would not be and
wouldn't start because what they call the air pressure unit,
(23:02):
the one that's built in on the plane, wouldn't So
they replaced the unit on the plane. They didn't have
to bring the start card out. They cranked the first
first engine up fine, but then the second one. Okay,
come on, let's get this.
Speaker 3 (23:16):
But anyway, worry to say it, but that sound I'm joking.
Speaker 2 (23:20):
That's a car. That's not the way it sounded. No, so,
but what happens for that? For that, when the I
guess the new unit they put in also failed, you
get out of the runway, they rev the engine up.
That's working because engines don't crank at the same time,
and again it takes air pressure and the AC can't
be running at the same time. It's either or proposition.
So they're revving the first engine to create enough pressure
(23:42):
for the other engine to start, which again starts to
make that weird noise, and it freaked the lady out
sitting next to me, and I just explained, I said,
this is normal. No, it doesn't sound normal, but I
promise you it's it's normal. I didn't go into that.
Well you see the APU failed and anyway, but two
days to travel trips and row that's happened. It was
just weird.
Speaker 4 (24:02):
It's safe to say this the last time on this
airline for you?
Speaker 3 (24:06):
Is it safe?
Speaker 6 (24:07):
Coming up with Murphy Sam and Jody.
Speaker 2 (24:09):
Sam has music news.
Speaker 4 (24:10):
Let me introduce you to the newest musical genre, dad rock.
Speaker 5 (24:16):
Sam's got music news, brought to you by.
Speaker 4 (24:18):
Progressive Everybody knows what yacht rock is, yes, and seventies,
eighties hall and ods kind of stuff, kind of like
the softer.
Speaker 1 (24:27):
Pop stuff, ye know, the kind of things you see
a commercial for, yeah, you know, with a couple walking
on the beach.
Speaker 4 (24:33):
And I do.
Speaker 2 (24:34):
Think it's funny that it was given the name yacht
rock though that's really only in the last ten years
kind of thing.
Speaker 1 (24:39):
What about yacht rock as you can only listen to
it for so long and you're like, okay, wait, actually I.
Speaker 2 (24:45):
Can I can listen a long time. I like it.
Speaker 4 (24:47):
Wow, yacht rock. We have a new genre really called
dad rock.
Speaker 2 (24:52):
Okay and dad rock right.
Speaker 4 (24:54):
Now mainly affecting jen X. It's here's the description of it.
A music that appeals to an older generation that is
heavily influenced by that of an earlier era. Music that
should not appeal to self respecting teenagers, they say, And
another one it was cool, then it became uncool, and
now it's maybe it's cool again.
Speaker 2 (25:15):
So what are dad rock?
Speaker 4 (25:17):
Here we go?
Speaker 3 (25:20):
Whoa, that's cool yesterday, but I know it's not.
Speaker 4 (25:24):
That was around two thousand, yeah, yeah, which I think
seemed to be about that time, of course, that you
got Limp Biscuits, you got Blink one eighty two. Uh,
supposedly the kings of dad rock or Nickelback. You know,
like if dad is in the kitchen cleaning dishes or
doing something and you're seeing dancing of the song, yeah,
(25:46):
and you got dad rock on your hands, okay, and.
Speaker 2 (25:49):
He starts getting it yeah yeah, yeah, listen to this,
crank it yeah.
Speaker 4 (25:54):
Okay, it's dad rock. So you know, that's fun with
that one this weekend. Moving on to some real music news,
Janet Jackson's Vegas residency is now confirmed. She will be
there opening up December thirtieth and thirty first, So you
can go to Resorts World Vegas on New Year's even
enjoy Janet Jackson.
Speaker 3 (26:12):

I bet the crowd just loses it when she does
control and she's.
Speaker 4 (26:16):
Gonna take about a month off, and then she's got
a whole slew of dates in February of next year.
By the way, tickets go on sale for that on
Wednesday of next week. And do we have another Elton
John documentary coming to Disney Plus. Really it's called Elton
John Never Too Late Late and it starts with his
original Dodger Stadium performance in seventy five.
Speaker 2 (26:37):
Oh wow.
Speaker 4 (26:38):
And I think it ends with the recent Dodger Stadium performance,
and then it's just he talks about how he went on,
you know, the drugs and the alcohol. It doesn't sound
like it's a happy documentary, That's what I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (26:49):
Coming up next, Jody has your Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 6 (26:53):
Trending now.
Speaker 5 (26:54):
Jody's Hollywood Outsider brought to by eBay.
Speaker 1 (26:57):
Jennifer Lopez not just ending her marriage to Ben this week,
she's also dropping his name.
Speaker 3 (27:04):
Did you know?
Speaker 1 (27:04):
Everybody thought it was so romantic and cute and I
did too when they got married two years ago, that
she took his name legally. She was Jennifer Affleck for
two years. Oh Now the world knows her as j
Low Jennifer Loss, but she's dropped that too and restoring
her maiden name, Jennifer Lynn Lopez.
Speaker 3 (27:22):
Did you know that that was her name? Anyway.
Speaker 1 (27:25):
The negotiations for their settlement still ongoing. It's becoming very
difficult because the word is, have they stopped speaking to
each other months ago?
Speaker 4 (27:34):
Months ago thought they didn't have a prenap just because
it was going to be you keep yours, I keep mine.
Speaker 1 (27:39):
Yeah, but they still have some things to work out.
They've worked together.
Speaker 3 (27:42):
In fact.
Speaker 1 (27:43):
The word is there's a film coming out called Unstoppable.
She's starring in the movie. He produced it his company,
And there's a red carpet event coming up September sixth.
Speaker 4 (27:53):
That ain't going to work.
Speaker 1 (27:54):
She's attending the premiere. The word is he's skipping out
on it. Normally he would be there, but oh no,
too sticky of a situation. Also, oh, here's some fun
news from Hollywood. The Drew Barrymore Show has been renewed
for a sixth season.
Speaker 5 (28:09):

Speaker 5 (28:20):
Texter call Us eight seven seven three one zero four msj.
Speaker 1 (28:24):
Love connecting with you anyway. You can also jump in
on Facebook and Instagram. Wendell sent this what a great name.
Speaker 2 (28:30):
I love that.
Speaker 4 (28:30):
I love Wendall.
Speaker 1 (28:32):
Wendell says, I heard Jody talking about directions and think
I think you should try ways, Jody. It's really good.
You guys make my day. Love you all.
Speaker 3 (28:43):
Thank you, Wendell.
Speaker 1 (28:44):
What Wendell is speaking of is the very real thing
that happened when I was driving back with our daughters. Murphy,
you weren't with us from a recent road trip where
I was in the middle of a big city that
I didn't know, with one hundred million lanes and ramps,
and the girls were talking to me at the same
time about something unrelated and I made I missed, I
made the wrong turn. I was looking at GPS and
(29:06):
I made the wrong term and turn. And when you
do that in a big city that you don't know,
you're on that big elevated ramp for miles before you
can sometimes correct. And I was so mortified. I just
felt like such a failure. But do you know I
appreciate this, Windle, because I've also heard from others this
(29:27):
week and even here at work in the kitchen, like,
it's okay that that happens.
Speaker 3 (29:32):
It happens to everybody.
Speaker 2 (29:33):
Yeah, you know the thing about ways, and I'll bounce
back and forth between both of them. Ways is probably
easier on the map because it's thicker lines, if that
makes any sense. So it's it's a little bit easier
to at a glance, so you're not staring at your screen.
Speaker 3 (29:49):
When I was looking at And that's another thing.
Speaker 1 (29:50):
You're looking at the lanes and you're looking at of
traffic and cars going beside you, and you're trying to
look at a screen to not smart. And I know
I should have had a talking to me, but I
was in the middle of all that before I realized.
Speaker 2 (30:02):
That Jody doesn't like it when they talk, so she
turns that point.
Speaker 4 (30:05):
Then you don't have to stare at the map.
Speaker 3 (30:07):
I know I made a mistake. I made a very
human mistake.
Speaker 1 (30:11):
And I'm also I'm not a big city girl, and
so driving in the big city, I'm not afraid of it.
Speaker 3 (30:17):
I'm happy to do it. But it's not my game,
it's not my jam.
Speaker 2 (30:21):
Yeah, I know. Yeah, you should not totally should not
feel bad about that. The thing about when you let
way is Google Maps or whatever Apple Maps speak to you.
You know, if you detour off and you haven't made
any sort of change to pause it, it's going to
continue to turn left, turn left, Come on, get back
on the internet ways. It'll just keep you know, bugging you,
nagging you. Yes, basically, yeah, exactly.
Speaker 3 (30:44):
Thank you.
Speaker 1 (30:44):
Wend'll keep it coming anytime you can email us also
