but apparently they are. Hopefully they'll be downgraded to just
a wet storm and a lighter, happier note. I've seen
people helping people and working side by side like good

neighbors should. It may only be material things, but it
still hurts. The fear, the emotions, they're all real, and
I just thank god we are safe. I know this
is crazy, but I keep thinking of a Christmas a
Christmas cartoon with Jack Frost, and it's singing, keep one
foot in front of the other and soon you'll be
dancing out the door. I know that's from one of

a suggestion for those in the storm area yet lucky
enough to still have power and water. There are so
many and there will be many temporary work temporary workers
in your area trying to restore your utilities in the
heat and the mud, and they typically don't have a
place to wash their clothes. The last time we had
a big storm, a neighbor organized some of us who

were luckily not without utilities. We took bags of dirty
workmen's clothes home and returned them clean. Her front porch
was the point of delivery. They said that it made
them feel so much better to be able to start
the day in clean clothes.

that's going around.

You know, when people are at their lowest possible moment,
most vulnerable scammers are out there, unfortunately, so please be
aware of that, especially if you're reliant on your phone
right now, or you know you have family members in
the affected areas that are relying on their phones, not
to fall for something, you know, at the worst possible moment.

And you know, just when I thought I had seen
every scam, I came across a new one yesterday, a
brand new one hit me. And I look this one
up and it's called a smishing scam. Have you heard
of smishing?

Mishing?

This is another I think one of those it kind
of terms. It's the combination of the word SMS text
and the phishing scams. Just like you get, you know.
Speaker 1 (08:04):
On emails, a scam text.

It's a scam text, usually with a screenshot sometimes of
a website that looks legit. And in this particular case,
and it's just like I wouldn't have even thought of this.
These are scammers posing as the fake or the state
run toll companies collecting tolls. Because you know tolls now
most of them are automated in most states where just

scans your license plate you get the bill. Whether you're
a resident of the state or not, you're going to
get the bill. But in this case, they want you to.
They're saying that you and of course you click the link,
which is the bad link, and it's their website will
be maybe one letter off from the state's official website
(08:47):
or something that will or a number or whatever. It's
really if I mean, if you don't look twice at it,
it could be one that you fall for fast, especially
if you've been you know, driving anywhere, you know, in
a neighboring state or even.

Here, and you maybe they'll know that.

I wonder he was on a tall road, you know.

The interesting thing about what you're saying is, yes, it's
always there's always something a little bit wonky about a
website or address that's a scam, so definitely read it carefully.
But it goes back to those two words. Slow down, Yeah,
slow down. A lot of people may get scammed because
they because fear is fast. You move quickly when you're scared. Yeah, Well,

don't let it scare you. Slow down, have somebody else
look at it with you. Hey, does this look wonky?

towns wiped off the map. President Biden did several press
conferences yesterday saying that more federal aid is on the
way and will continue to increase. Number Two Tonight is

but instead there will be a QR code on the screen.

My dad used to race and the hill climb there
for like thirty years, and I used to go down
with them like every spring for years.

I had a cousin that raced and other people from
Ohio used to go down every spring. It was a
really good time, good memories. Yeah, and my dad passed
earlier this year and they had a reunion in the
middle of May. I got to go to I'm glad
I did so. It was good being back there after

so many years. The town's gorgeous, it's beautiful, a lot
of good memories. Yeah, And then to hear that news
over the weekend. I know, and I guess I'm glad
my dad never knew what happened.

Yes, isn't that funny, But that's how you feel because
you know it would break his heart.

M But I'm just glad I got to go last spring.

I'm glad you did too. That's one of my friend's
favorite places to go, or used to be her favorite
place to go, and she called it a soul restoring place.
One of the most soul restoring places in the United
States was Chimney Rock, North Carolina.

When I was there last in the spring. I mean,
you just don't think about anything, you know, if you
hadn't got any problems going on, I didn't think about
any of that. Set back by the river and listen

just kind of feel like it will It will never
be the same, but it will be rebuilt. That's what

And what I had said was that nobody gets a
ten thousand a day, even though we've heard for ten years,
twenty years that it's recommended that you get ten thousand
steps a day. I think I said that the other day.

I never heard that, or I just wasn't paying attention
to one of the two.

I've heard to ignore decade.

Between like five to seven. Is what I've been is
what my target is supposed to be.

Your sister even came in one to our to our
house one day years ago, said I'm trying to get

thing for a long time, ten thousand steps. And I
said that nobody gets that unless you're like training for
a marathon. Jean said this. My husband is an h
VAC refrigeration tech at a veterans hospital and often walks
ten thousand steps a day. Oh wow, average is about

sixty five steps a day, but he probably hits ten
thousand at least once a week.

that's sixty five hundred. That's smack dab in the middle.

are in Edgefield, South Carolina. We have no power either,
but do have water. We have to limit the usage.

Not much damage ourselves with several limbs down a good
bit of leaves. I have a seven year old that
can't understand why there's no power and a newborn that
thankfully arrived Tuesday instead of his schedule day, which was
Friday during the storm.

Oh, and bless you, Hannah. When you say newborn and
you say no power, yeah, that hurts me inside for you,
But I guess you know your baby's got what your

areas of Hurricane Helene, yesterday, former President Donald Trump visited Baldosta, Georgia,
along with the organization Samaritan's person said he would be
making a twenty five million dollar donation to that area
for recovery efforts. Vice President Kamala Harris yesterday held a

meeting with FEMA officials and said she would visit the
worst stricken areas once her visit would not interfere with
rescue and recovery efforts. Number two, speaking of it, while
cleanup is still happening, the National Hurricane Center closely watching
some other activity in the Atlantic and Caribbean. So the
ISAAC storm, it's a Category two in the Atlantic, not

it will stay there, and Joyce poses no risk to
the US. But they are watching something right now that
could develop into a tropical depression as it moves into
the Gulf of Mexico by the end of the week.

is former President Jimmy Carter's one hundredth birthday.

Maybe so, And I think it's a setting that you
can turn off, in fact, the one for teams if
that's ever happened to you, and it probably happens on
zoom calls too. This is where people get tripped up.
They can't find the way to turn it off. I
was on a call, for example, with one of our
coworkers the other day, and balloons suddenly went off in
the conversation.

And was there something that was celebratory set?
Speaker 2 (23:50):
She was actually seeing something quite sarcastic at that moment.
And then it's like what are the balloons for? Where
did they come? And she wondered where did they come from?
Because she saw them too. Oh and then where another
maybe thirty seconds in the conversation, she's talking about different
thoughts she's having, and all of a sudden, I hear
this boop sound and this thought balloon appears over her.

Thought cloud appears.

Over her would make with question marks.
Speaker 2 (24:16):
In it, and I started laughing, like, I don't know
what's going on. This is pretty entertaining.
Speaker 1 (24:24):
So it's a I listening.

It's it's well, I mean, AI may be what works it,
but it's actually it's not a setting in Teams or
Zoom or any of the conference call software you use.
It's actually a setting in your iPhone for FaceTime. FaceTime
is what will originate based on things you're saying, the
balloons and all the other things. So if you have
that turned on in your phone, you know period it's

going to go off if the camera's acted all.

And where you turn it off like settings.
Speaker 2 (24:53):
Yeah, within settings.
Speaker 3 (24:54):
I try this, now, who are you.

Going to be facetiming? Neither one of you FaceTime?

Yeah, but it works on teams if you leave it
on so that way and poof, suddenly the balloons will appear.
And I almost forgot the most important part. It's actually
not AI. It's gestures. Okay, So it's certain gestures you
do cause that to happen, certain gestures, that's why you

up in the country, so the only time I ever
saw jeans, well, my mom wore jeans all the time
to the grocery store, but it was always with a
T shirt and flip flops and jeans. I thought jeans
were country.

Well, and there have been designer jeans, I know, for
a long time, but there are a lot more choices
now than that.

Of course there are. But I remember the first time
I saw a lady with a in a pair of
jeans where she had dressed it up. She was wearing heels,
she was wearing a jacket and beautiful jewelry, and I
could not take my eyes off of her. She was
a school teacher and they were allowed to wear jeans
on Friday only, and I couldn't stop looking at her.

And I remember going, oh, my gosh, I didn't know
jeans could be worn this way. A big fashion moment

one and even one good pair of jeans. And when

seen them. Look really, I've dressed those up. I'll wear

a big storm, a neighbor organized some of us who

were luckily not without utilities. We took bags of dirty
workmen's clothes home and returned them clean. Her front porch
was the point of delivery. They said that it made
them feel so much better to be able to start
the day in clean clothes.

You know, when people are at their lowest possible moment,
most vulnerable scammers are out there, unfortunately, so please be
aware of that, especially if you're reliant on your phone
right now, or you know you have family members in
the affected areas that are relying on their phones, not
to fall for something, you know, at the worst possible moment.

And you know, just when I thought I had seen
every scam, I came across a new one yesterday, a
brand new one hit me. And I look this one
up and it's called a smishing scam. Have you heard
of smishing?

Mishing?

This is another I think one of those it kind
of terms. It's the combination of the word SMS text
and the phishing scams. Just like you get, you know.
Speaker 1 (08:04):
On emails, a scam text.

It's a scam text, usually with a screenshot sometimes of
a website that looks legit. And in this particular case,
and it's just like I wouldn't have even thought of this.
These are scammers posing as the fake or the state
run toll companies collecting tolls. Because you know tolls now
most of them are automated in most states where just

scans your license plate you get the bill. Whether you're
a resident of the state or not, you're going to
get the bill. But in this case, they want you to.
They're saying that you and of course you click the link,
which is the bad link, and it's their website will
be maybe one letter off from the state's official website
(08:47):
or something that will or a number or whatever. It's
really if I mean, if you don't look twice at it,
it could be one that you fall for fast, especially
if you've been you know, driving anywhere, you know, in
a neighboring state or even.

Here, and you maybe they'll know that.

I wonder he was on a tall road, you know.
Speaker 1 (09:05):
The interesting thing about what you're saying is, yes, it's
always there's always something a little bit wonky about a
website or address that's a scam, so definitely read it carefully.
But it goes back to those two words. Slow down, Yeah,
slow down. A lot of people may get scammed because
they because fear is fast. You move quickly when you're scared. Yeah, Well,

don't let it scare you. Slow down, have somebody else
look at it with you. Hey, does this look wonky?
Does this look legit?

really good time, good memories. Yeah, and my dad passed

so many years. The town's gorgeous, it's beautiful, a lot
of good memories. Yeah, And then to hear that news
over the weekend. I know, and I guess I'm glad
my dad never knew what happened.

M But I'm just glad I got to go last spring.

up from Jene, Hey just heard you guys talking about
and Jody saying how many steps per day? Is recommended.
And what I had said was that nobody gets a
ten thousand a day, even though we've heard for ten years,
twenty years that it's recommended that you get ten thousand
steps a day. I think I said that the other day.

I never heard that, or I just wasn't paying attention
to one of the two.
Speaker 1 (18:53):
I've heard to ignore decade.
Speaker 2 (18:55):
Between like five to seven. Is what I've been is
what my target is supposed to be.

Your sister even came in one to our to our
house one day years ago, said I'm trying to get
my ten thousand steps in. I mean, it's been a
thing for a long time, ten thousand steps. And I
said that nobody gets that unless you're like training for
a marathon. Jean said this. My husband is an h
VAC refrigeration tech at a veterans hospital and often walks
ten thousand steps a day. Oh wow, average is about

sixty five steps a day, but he probably hits ten
thousand at least once a week.

The sixty five hundred, oh I'm sorry, yeah, but see
that's sixty five hundred. That's smack dab in the middle.
I told you, isn't it right?

By the way, I average about sixty five steps a day.

Do you okay. Also regarding after the aftermath of Hurricane Helen,
We've said, hey, check in with us. You know where

of this and you're dealing with this, Hannah said, we
are in Edgefield, South Carolina. We have no power either,
but do have water. We have to limit the usage.

Not much damage ourselves with several limbs down a good
bit of leaves. I have a seven year old that
can't understand why there's no power and a newborn that
thankfully arrived Tuesday instead of his schedule day, which was
Friday during the storm.

Oh, and bless you, Hannah. When you say newborn and
you say no power, yeah, that hurts me inside for you,
But I guess you know your baby's got what your

areas of Hurricane Helene, yesterday, former President Donald Trump visited Baldosta, Georgia,
along with the organization Samaritan's person said he would be

for recovery efforts. Vice President Kamala Harris yesterday held a

meeting with FEMA officials and said she would visit the
worst stricken areas once her visit would not interfere with
rescue and recovery efforts. Number two, speaking of it, while
cleanup is still happening, the National Hurricane Center closely watching
some other activity in the Atlantic and Caribbean. So the
ISAAC storm, it's a Category two in the Atlantic, not

it will stay there, and Joyce poses no risk to
the US. But they are watching something right now that
could develop into a tropical depression as it moves into
the Gulf of Mexico by the end of the week.

Very busy late for hurricane season. And number three today
is former President Jimmy Carter's one hundredth birthday.

So if this happened recently to on a call that
I was on, and I've read about it, it's on
Microsoft teams. There are people who are being caught off
guard when they're on their iPhone at a teams meeting,
sometimes with the CEO or you know, it can be
a really important meeting, very serious meeting, and all of
a sudden, balloons start flying across the screen.
Speaker 1 (23:15):
Like scary it movie balloons or birth celebration they're like
celebration balloons. Nice.
Speaker 3 (23:21):
Yeah, there was the same balloons you get, like see
on an iPhone if you send somebody a happy birthday
text you get or congrats.
Speaker 1 (23:28):
But they got all fancy.
Speaker 2 (23:30):
Maybe so, And I think it's a setting that you
can turn off, in fact, the one for teams if
that's ever happened to you, and it probably happens on
zoom calls too. This is where people get tripped up.
They can't find the way to turn it off. I
was on a call, for example, with one of our
coworkers the other day, and balloons suddenly went off in
the conversation.
Speaker 1 (23:47):
And was there something that was celebratory set?
Speaker 2 (23:50):
She was actually seeing something quite sarcastic at that moment.
And then it's like what are the balloons for? Where
did they come? And she wondered where did they come from?
Because she saw them too. Oh and then where another
maybe thirty seconds in the conversation, she's talking about different
thoughts she's having, and all of a sudden, I hear
this boop sound and this thought balloon appears over her.
(24:12):
Thought cloud appears.
Speaker 1 (24:13):
Over her would make with question marks.
Speaker 2 (24:16):
In it, and I started laughing, like, I don't know
what's going on. This is pretty entertaining.
Speaker 1 (24:24):
So it's a I listening.
Speaker 2 (24:27):
It's it's well, I mean, AI may be what works it,
but it's actually it's not a setting in Teams or
Zoom or any of the conference call software you use.
It's actually a setting in your iPhone for FaceTime. FaceTime
is what will originate based on things you're saying, the
balloons and all the other things. So if you have
that turned on in your phone, you know period it's
(24:49):
going to go off if the camera's acted all.
Speaker 1 (24:51):
And where you turn it off like settings.
Speaker 2 (24:53):
Yeah, within settings.
Speaker 3 (24:54):
I try this, now, who are you.
Speaker 1 (24:56):
Going to be facetiming? Neither one of you FaceTime?
Speaker 2 (24:59):
Yeah, but it works on teams if you leave it
on so that way and poof, suddenly the balloons will appear.
And I almost forgot the most important part. It's actually
not AI. It's gestures. Okay, So it's certain gestures you
do cause that to happen, certain gestures, that's why you
want to turn it off. Yeah, coming up, Jody has

Coming up next, though. The number one piece of clothing
for any wardrobe, especially a woman, that's timeless you can
wear forever. You guys want to take a guess at
what is the most classic timeless piece in every wardrobe?
I say especially for women, but this is true for
men too. You should have one of these, at least

one good one of these in a closet.

I would say for women, a little black dress.

Oh, good guess.

I mean, I don't know a solid shirt. Oh no,
good pairs? I mean I can't imagine it being one.

Really, it's timeless. A classic, good pair of jeans should
be in every wardrobe and can be worn well at
every age. That's a beautiful thing about it. It's at
every age of your life because there are things you know,
you don't see eighty year olds run around in mini skirts.
There are certain things that you give up as you

get older.
Speaker 3 (26:25):
It's every age of life. But it's also every possible
way you could go to a party except for tuxedos, correct,
because you can dress it up with a jacket and
a shirt and a tie.
Speaker 1 (26:34):
Let me tell you dress from the ladies perspective. When
I was a little girl, you guys know, I grew
up in the country, so the only time I ever
saw jeans, well, my mom wore jeans all the time
to the grocery store, but it was always with a
T shirt and flip flops and jeans. I thought jeans
were country.
Speaker 2 (26:50):
Well, and there have been designer jeans, I know, for
a long time, but there are a lot more choices
now than that.
Speaker 1 (26:56):
Of course there are. But I remember the first time
I saw a lady with a in a pair of
jeans where she had dressed it up. She was wearing heels,
she was wearing a jacket and beautiful jewelry, and I
could not take my eyes off of her. She was
a school teacher and they were allowed to wear jeans
on Friday only, and I couldn't stop looking at her.

And I remember going, oh, my gosh, I didn't know
jeans could be worn this way. A big fashion moment
for Jody.

So anyway, you just need to know that a really
one and even one good pair of jeans. And when
I say good pair, it doesn't mean there's a certain
style that you need to try to fit yourself into.
As long as you feel comfortable in them and they
look good, as long as they look completely worn out.
Although the you know, little ragged edges are in I've
seen them. Look really, I've dressed those up. I'll wear

heels with my jeans that have holes in them in
the knees of you know. Just know that's for men too, guys.

hand you know, little street tacos and they were fabulous.

To me oftentimes with food, the more simple the better,
except for salad. I like one hundred million things in salad,
but something like a taco, even a burger, two and
three things and that's all I want on it. And
so sometimes the same can be true for tacos, a meat,
a cheese, and avocado, or a sauce like he said,

our a sauce like a salsa.
Speaker 3 (31:02):
Or choice would be piico just because you get everything
on it. I know you can't do cilantro, but it's
gonna have the onions, it's gonna have the tomatoes and
a little little juice in there.

I have a little carne asata taco the other night
and it was so good, and Murphy, it was so
beautiful except it was just buried in cilantro.
Speaker 2 (31:21):
Yeah.

I loved it though.

But whatever your choice of meat. I mean, you know,
you can do turkey meat, you can do shrimp, you
can do fish tacos. I mean literally just about anything
that you want.

It was delicious?

Yeah, it was a burrito, so that's big.

I'm gonna throw this out. And I know you guys
don't like the sweetness with it, but I had a
pork taco once with pork onion and the pork had
been cooked real pork onion and little pieces of mango
