Speaker 1 (00:02):
Christmas tree cake dip is a real thing. It's one
of our dips in the twelve Dips of Christmas. Oh
my gosh. I made this last year when we had
a bunch of family over, and it was such a
hit because it's novelty and it's funny, and the way
I mixed it up, I didn't over mix it so
you could see little pieces of the cake inside of
(00:23):
the whipped you know, it's like cool whip and cream
cheese and all that really lean stuff cakes. You crumble
up the cakes, but you don't have to over crumble
because once you sort of mix it in, you know.
Speaker 2 (00:37):
Anyway, it's a really good dip.
Speaker 3 (00:39):
But you've got to be careful not to break up.
You don't want to mix all the cake pieces in.
Speaker 1 (00:43):
What I was just saying, Yeah, I left it where
you could see little chunks of cake Christmas tree cake
and it's so so cute. The reason I bring it up, Yes,
it's one of the favorites. It's really like the star
the Little Debbie Christmas tree Cake dip at Murphy Salmon
Jody dot Com and I served it last year. You're
with like ginger snaps on the one side of the
bowl and then like Milla wafers on the other you
(01:05):
could serve it with Christmas cookies or whatever. It's really sweet.
It seems light, but believe me, it's not. But I
bring it up because I almost didn't make it last year,
and I'm mentioning it this week for this reason.
Speaker 2 (01:20):
When it gets closer to Christmas, Christmas tree cakes sell out.
Speaker 3 (01:23):
Oh no, good point.
Speaker 2 (01:25):
So do you know how many stores I had to
go to last year to make this dip.
Speaker 1 (01:28):
I had promised the kids I would make it, and
so I went shopping and I could not find cakes.
At the first grocery store they didn't have them. At
the second they had gingerbread cakes. Let you know, some
of the Christmas Little Debbie stuff. So what I'm saying
to you is, if you see a box or two
of Christmas tree cakes, grab them this week. Yea, I
promise you they will last.
Speaker 4 (01:48):
They sell out every year, Yeah they do.
Speaker 1 (01:50):
And by the way, shout out to Little Debbie for
the expiration date. It'll say December thirtieth, twenty twenty four,
like I've already checked. So it's not like they're not
good for a year. Yeah, although they might be.
Speaker 4 (02:01):
Probably are it's like a twenty anyway.
Speaker 1 (02:04):
It's a really pretty deep and the fun part of
it is part of the recipe. In the ingredients you
will see right under milk, it says Christmas sprinkles, and
I thought that's optional.
Speaker 2 (02:13):
It's not.
Speaker 1 (02:14):
It just looks like a bunch of white blob if
you don't put the sprinkles on.
Speaker 3 (02:18):
My show.
Speaker 1 (02:18):
Yeah, really pretty and fun to make. If your kids
have never been in the kitchen, this might be a
fun thing for their first time ever in the kitchen
to whip up. Highly recommend go get it at Murphysamonjody
dot com.
Speaker 3 (02:30):
Coming up at six p fifty, Jody has three things
to Know Today.
Speaker 4 (02:33):
On the way next the twenty twenty four Way. My
daughter sent me her Christmas wish list this year. I'm
sure parents everywhere have asked the kids, what do you
want for Christmas this year? And I do that every year.
I don't ask my oldest ones because it's like they
won't probably tell me anyway, because this is whatever.
Speaker 2 (02:51):
You want, that is what it is as you get older.
Speaker 4 (02:54):
Yeah, but my twenty one year old, my two nineteen's,
they always have something, and Maddie this year has stepped
it up. It used to the Amazon wish list that
she would make for me, But this year I got
an email with a Google Doc. Well so I can
add and subtract.
Speaker 2 (03:10):
I think that you would appreciate that.
Speaker 4 (03:12):
Oh boy do I? I mean I looked at this
and I almost cried because I couldn't have organized better myself.
It starts with I love you, Oh yeah, smart it
how to butter me up? And then it's got highlighted
big stuff and there's some new balanced shoes, crossover sets, jewelry,
air pods. Then we get to little stuff body wash,
(03:34):
oversized sweatshirt. Then we get to candles, and then we
get to gift cards, Taco Bell, bathroom, body works, Target,
Victoria Secret.
Speaker 3 (03:43):
Wow, that's that's pretty thorough. Now here's the thing. Is
it a shared Google doc? Do you have to be
careful because if you start taking things off the dock,
she'll know what you got.
Speaker 4 (03:51):
I won't do that. I'll just keeping just click on
the links and order it, or you know, if I want.
Speaker 3 (03:56):
To do it.
Speaker 1 (03:56):
Question I have about her having a Google doc. Is
it the same Google doc she sends to her mother?
Speaker 4 (04:03):
Or do you that's separatetelligence?
Speaker 2 (04:05):
Do you have a separate, you know, dad only or
is it the same doc? And she's hoping.
Speaker 4 (04:09):
I have to ask because if mom's buying stuff without
checking off the list.
Speaker 2 (04:13):
You guys need to coordinate a little bit.
Speaker 4 (04:15):
Yeah, and she also sent me an Instagram. She sent
me a meme on Instagram, which this is perfect now
that she is in her own house with her roommates
for college. Uh. You know, it says, so what do
you want for Christmas? And the answer lately, I've been
really into groceries and gas utilities are cool too, stuff
like that.
Speaker 2 (04:33):
Yeah, welcome to it. That is so cute.
Speaker 3 (04:38):
You know.
Speaker 1 (04:38):
She could also email Santa her love and wishes at
Murphysalmonjody dot com.
Speaker 3 (04:44):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (04:44):
I don't know if Santa would appreciate a Google doc,
but yeah.
Speaker 3 (04:48):
You know, I think Santa's adaptable. Probably. Yeah, Shanna goes
with you know, letters and email anything.
Speaker 1 (04:53):
Any way you want to communicate with him. But you
can't email him kids. He'll be with us tomorrow Murphysalmonjody
dot com.
Speaker 5 (05:00):
Coming up next, Jody's Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 6 (05:05):
The latest buzz. Jody's Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 3 (05:08):
Brought to you by Total Wine and More.
Speaker 1 (05:10):
Something special and very Christmasy Tonight on NBC, carrying back
to back beloved animated Christmas specials.
Speaker 2 (05:20):
They're going to start with How the Grinch Stole Christmas.
Speaker 4 (05:23):
Every hood out in Whoville liked Christmas a lot, but
the Gridge did not.
Speaker 1 (05:29):
A lot of people really love this one even more
than the live action, which I cannot understand loving this
more than Jim Carrey.
Speaker 3 (05:36):
But I do understand, probably because it's the original and
there's something about animation it's even more childlike. Or if
it's the one you love, if you look at the
sweatshirts and all the Grinch stuff, it's the Doctor Seuss look,
it's not the Jim Carrey look. You know, although I
love the Jim Carrey movie, it's very well hitting.
Speaker 1 (05:52):
That's the what anyway tonight, keeping it classic, it's How
the Grinch Stole Christmas, followed by another classic, Frosty still.
Speaker 4 (06:05):
On NBC. Yes, so they're away from CBS too, right.
Speaker 1 (06:10):
The Claymation specials have had you know, CBS. I don't
know if they lost them in a bidding war, they
gave them up. I don't know the boardroom story on that,
but yeah, NBC has all of that. This year, So
look for those sweet ones tonight.
Speaker 5 (06:25):
Coming up with Murphy, Salm and Jody.
Speaker 1 (06:27):
We'll see if Murphy's willing to spend ten dollars on
me this year Christmas shopping. It's well underway for me, Murphy.
So I think it's the moment of truth. I need
you to tell me what our guidelines are going to
be for each other this year, because if you recall
the last couple of years, you wanted to do the
five dollars gift and then the ten dollars.
Speaker 3 (06:49):
Gift, that's right, yeah, because I thought it would be
kind of fun, you know what.
Speaker 1 (06:53):
I kind of need to know because you know, five
dollars gifts are hard to come.
Speaker 3 (06:57):
By, right, yeah, I think that might not be realistic.
Speaker 2 (07:00):
Package of ramen or something.
Speaker 3 (07:01):
Yeah, we could do well, actually, that would be about
five packs of ramen you actually.
Speaker 1 (07:06):
Yeah, when whenever I've gifted you on the low like that,
just to gifts, just to exchange presence and keep it.
Really it's fun because it's always snacks it well, snacky snackish.
Speaker 3 (07:19):
Well, I mean you tell me, do you want to
do a ten dollars gift again? I think that's fun.
It makes it a challenge, but it makes it funkes
it simple?
Speaker 4 (07:27):
Yes? There ja?
Speaker 1 (07:28):
Well, okay, didn't you do something? You did two gifts
last year? I didn't understand.
Speaker 2 (07:34):
Did you do two five dollars gifts? Is that what
you did?
Speaker 4 (07:37):
Well?
Speaker 3 (07:37):
I gave you a choice because I couldn't make up
my mind on the five dollar gifts, so you got
to pick one and the other would be saved for
Valentine's Day. Remember, No, I don't remember. You don't remember that.
Speaker 2 (07:48):
I'm sorry.
Speaker 3 (07:49):
I thought it was genius on my part. You don't
remember it.
Speaker 4 (07:52):
What were the gifts?
Speaker 3 (07:54):
I don't remember. Actually I think one of them was
Lavender sent it.
Speaker 2 (08:00):
So okay, okay, oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 3 (08:02):
Yeah, I don't remember what he was.
Speaker 2 (08:04):
I don't either. Do you remember what I gave you?
Speaker 3 (08:06):
No? Actually, no, that's not true. I do. You gave
me my Oh no, you didn't give me the mug
for that.
Speaker 1 (08:13):
No, no, no, I gave you a card. It was
less than five dollars. But in that card, I wrote
to you that I was going to throw you your
family Christmas party that you wanted to.
Speaker 3 (08:24):
Oh, that's right. And then I got very sick and
we didn't do that party. Till much later.
Speaker 2 (08:28):
Yes, but you still got it. I did, So that
was a tricky way around the rule.
Speaker 3 (08:33):
I mean, it's really about the thought, not the money, right,
So I think we should be focused on the thought
and not the idea.
Speaker 1 (08:39):
When you've been together a long time and you know
it's not about money spent, it's not about things. We
don't need a thing, but you want to gift each other.
So ten is the rule?
Speaker 2 (08:51):
Stretching it? You can't do a twelve dollars gift? Is
that the rule?
Speaker 3 (08:54):
Yeah? But does it have to include tax? Can I
do ten dollars before tax? That's the title?
Speaker 2 (09:01):
Thank you, Sam.
Speaker 6 (09:04):
Here's three things to Know Today.
Speaker 4 (09:06):
Brought to you by Jewelry TV.
Speaker 1 (09:08):
Number one Mattel is now facing a lawsuit over that
misprint on the Wicked Doll packaging, a print the Alphaba
and Glenda dolls that directed people to you know, an
inappropriate site, if you will. They issued an apology, they
pulled the dolls from the shelves, but one mom says,
my daughter saw stuff, picked up the iPhone and saw
(09:28):
stuff she can never unsee, and Mattel didn't offer a refund,
So there's a lawsuit under way. Number two Cyber Monday,
did we come to play? We sure did. We spent
thirteen point three billion bucks just on Monday.
Speaker 2 (09:43):
When did people do it? When the kids went to bed?
Speaker 1 (09:46):
The biggest bump in shopping was between eight and ten pm.
Speaker 2 (09:50):
And I'm thinking that's because you forgot. You worked all day.
Speaker 4 (09:52):
It wasn't between eight am and five pm.
Speaker 2 (09:54):
No, and then you forgot. Wait, let me check it
before it's over.
Speaker 1 (09:58):
The biggest money spent were was on on Cyber Monday Electronics,
toys and clothing. And number three today on the Drew
Barrymore Show. Her guest is Ariana Grande and they taped
this a while back. And what's cool is you have
to watch it, you know, because of the Wicked movie
and Ari playing Glinda the good Witch.
Speaker 2 (10:21):
Drew's staff got together and got.
Speaker 1 (10:23):
The original movie prop of Glinda's wand from the nineteen
thirty nine star on top and handed it to Ari
on the show and she got to hold it and
wave it.
Speaker 6 (10:35):
You're in the note three things to know Today, Jody's
Gift Today.
Speaker 1 (10:42):
The Gift Today Idea today falls in the personal items category,
and it also is on.
Speaker 3 (10:47):
That way, when you say personal items, do you mean
like in a personal items are kind of like personal.
Speaker 1 (10:52):
Okay, I mean inappropriately personal, Murphy. Stick with me and
you'll see. I promise to get to it. But we
had mentioned what right before Thanksgiving? The underrated gifts and
personal items fall under that category.
Speaker 2 (11:04):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (11:05):
Underrated gifts are gifts, gift cards to grocery stores. Local
grocery stores especially, those are good homemade items. You know,
phone chargers, you know those can always be used. Really
good candles, cuddly blankets are I'm gonna get to personal
items that are underrated that always work, and I will
(11:25):
give you actual examples. Personal items meaning toilettree items, a
man who's never been given really good skincare? Have you
ever used really good skincare?
Speaker 2 (11:37):
Sam?
Speaker 4 (11:38):
No, and don't don't do that this year. Please.
Speaker 2 (11:40):
Oh, I'm not gonna give you. It's pretty personal.
Speaker 4 (11:42):
Yeah, I also too, It's like, I'm not gonna you're
not gonna use it?
Speaker 1 (11:47):
Okay, good luck anybody buying for Sam.
Speaker 4 (11:51):
That kind of stuff. It's too personal. If I'm not, you.
Speaker 2 (11:53):
Want to pick it out.
Speaker 1 (11:54):
Well. For Murphy, for instance, I love it correct Murphy
is I find you easy to buy for And a
lot of men are tough to buy for. But Murphy
loves anything I bring into the shower. It's like, here's
a good little face scrub for you. I think you'll
like it, and he's like.
Speaker 3 (12:09):
Scrub, I love it, Yeah, exactly.
Speaker 2 (12:11):
Scrubs it too rough and makes it red.
Speaker 1 (12:13):
And that's a philosophy micro delivery face wash with the
tiny little beads.
Speaker 3 (12:18):
Oh, I never remember the name of all that.
Speaker 2 (12:20):
That's the name of it.
Speaker 3 (12:21):
I just caught the scratchy soap.
Speaker 2 (12:23):
Put a link for you.
Speaker 3 (12:25):
It just feels good as long as.
Speaker 1 (12:26):
You're gentle enough with it. You could use that every
day and it helps exfoliate. And it's of course every
time he uses it and you get out of the
shower and you're coming to bed.
Speaker 2 (12:35):
I'm gonna tell Sam what you tell me.
Speaker 3 (12:36):
Oh, I mean, I look like I'm ten years you know,
I've just wiped away the ears.
Speaker 4 (12:42):
Scratchy.
Speaker 2 (12:43):
You are for the best.
Speaker 1 (12:44):
You are supposed to exfoliate lightly a couple of times
a week. Maybe not every day. Maybe you don't need
that every day, but a couple of times a week.
You're supposed to get the dead layers off. Okay, Sam
doesn't care. Okay, put a link to that. What a
link at Murphy Say Jody dot com for that one.
It's a gift today idea, but for women, something that
they may not buy for themselves. It's a personal sort
(13:06):
of luxury item. Someone a girlfriend a long time ago
gave me some really good cuticle oil and I it's
fantastic and I put it on my cuticles every night
before I go to bed.
Speaker 4 (13:15):
You nailed that one. That's yeah.
Speaker 3 (13:17):
See that's something that guys don't give me.
Speaker 2 (13:19):
I don't even know it exists.
Speaker 1 (13:22):
Right, Go get our Gift Today items at Murphysamonjody dot com.
Speaker 3 (13:26):
Coming up at seven fifty, Jody has three things to
know today.
Speaker 4 (13:29):
Up next, how to surprise your grown up kids at Christmas.
You know, when we take our Christmas New Year's holiday
around here, the old Murphy, Sam and Jody holiday, I
usually sit on the sofa for two weeks and do
absolutely nothing. But but this year I am gonna go
to California.
Speaker 3 (13:49):
Oh yay, what are you gonna do?
Speaker 4 (13:51):
My son, Jackson lives there now, he's been there since
earlier this year, and I just I haven't seen him
since in a year. Basically, Oh wow, So I mean
other than FaceTime. So I figured why not go visit
because I mean, I've only been to Cali a couple
of times, and I don't know to call it Calia hey,
(14:13):
but with somebody who's lived there, you know, they can
show you around to stuff. And Plus one of the
things with Jackson is the past month or so, he's
really gotten into cooking. He's asked for recipes for me
and from his mom. Okay, so I thought, hey, you
know what, this could be a way instead of texting
do this and mix that, and you know.
Speaker 2 (14:31):
Were a couple of recipes totally.
Speaker 3 (14:33):
So what what part of California are we talking about?
Speaker 4 (14:36):
The oc Hey, Yeah, he lives. It's called Fountain Valley,
which is near Garden Grove, which is in the Orange County,
just south of La The weather apparently he loves.
Speaker 2 (14:48):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (14:49):
I mean he's always talking about Huntington Beach in Venice
Beach and it's like things you hear about but I've
never been to.
Speaker 3 (14:54):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (14:55):
Cool, So thought I try that out.
Speaker 1 (14:57):
I mean, you've already covered this with him and asked
and told him you're coming.
Speaker 2 (15:01):
Yes, No, I haven't you know, because are you serious?
Speaker 4 (15:05):
Yeah, he's not going to care.
Speaker 2 (15:07):
He's gonna like it. Yeah, I would give him some
notice that.
Speaker 4 (15:10):
No, No, I'm not going to pop up like one day,
Hey guess who's here. It's dad. No, I'm let him know.
I just haven't. I haven't gotten all my ducks in
a row yet. Okay, you know me, I got to
have everything.
Speaker 2 (15:20):
You'll have a place to stay with him or near him.
Speaker 4 (15:24):
I probably would do a hotel.
Speaker 2 (15:25):
Yeah, ducks in a row, Yeah, needs to happen in.
Speaker 4 (15:28):
A rental car. Uber. You know. I haven't decided all
that yet, but it's the.
Speaker 2 (15:31):
Two for you understand.
Speaker 1 (15:33):
Number One, it's a visit with your son that you
haven't seen in a while, which is fantastic. Number Two,
you do need to I love that you're going to
do more than just sit on the sofa.
Speaker 4 (15:45):
Yeah. I've got there for a couple of days, and
I'll probably have about ten days left to sit on
the sofa.
Speaker 2 (15:49):
So it's a long time. It's still a long time.
Speaker 4 (15:53):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (15:56):
The latest Buzz Jody's Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 3 (15:59):
Brought to you by Total Wine and More.
Speaker 1 (16:01):
Guys, I want to bring your attention to one holiday
movie that sort of gets overlooked, but I know a
lot of ladies who love it. One of my best
friends loves it. It's called The Holiday.
Speaker 4 (16:12):
Do you want some company?
Speaker 5 (16:13):
Yeah, love something.
Speaker 2 (16:14):
It seems I heard it all wrong.
Speaker 3 (16:15):
It turns out you'll go somewhere you and mean people
who make you feel worthwhile again.
Speaker 1 (16:19):
Whoa Kate Winslet, Cameron Diaz, Jude Law. This one ringing
any bells. I don't remember what year. It's at least
ten or twelve years ago, maybe more, but it's one
of those set during the holidays.
Speaker 2 (16:32):
It's called The Holiday.
Speaker 1 (16:33):
Yeah, and people who would not you know, normally end
up in each other's lives, cross paths, and you know,
you can imagine what happens.
Speaker 2 (16:42):
Not Hallmark movie side.
Speaker 3 (16:44):
It's close, though it sounds close anyway.
Speaker 1 (16:47):
I know a lot of my friends really love it,
and I did like it.
Speaker 2 (16:50):
I liked it a lot. I wanted to say this.
Speaker 1 (16:52):
Jude Law, who's one of the major stars of it,
did an interview recently and he sort of sort.
Speaker 2 (16:57):
Of ruined it.
Speaker 1 (16:58):
Not ruined it, but the how the cottage that's featured
in the you know, the Holiday in the movie, a
lot of people look for it on Airbnb, especially at
this time of the year. He's like, I'm sorry to
tell you this, but they could not find a cottage
like the director wanted, so they just literally built one
on the set and when the movie was done it
was torn down.
Speaker 3 (17:18):
Bummer, So wow, it was a facade.
Speaker 2 (17:21):
Somebody needs to build it though.
Speaker 4 (17:23):
By the way, the movies from two thousand and six,
Thank you.
Speaker 5 (17:26):
Sam coming up with Murphy, Sam and Jody.
Speaker 1 (17:28):
Tara has a really cool Christmas tipping story. Holiday tipping
is a beautiful thing. And I have a story from Tara.
She sent this in to us at Murphysalmonjody dot com. Okay,
I worked at a grocery store during Christmas one year.
I always talked about my kids. I have five, and
someone came up to me and gave me two hundred
(17:50):
dollars in an envelope and a candle.
Speaker 4 (17:53):
Wow.
Speaker 1 (17:53):
I don't even know who that person was until that day.
I was so happy because I was going through a
divorce and I wanted my children to have Christmas, but
I thought I couldn't until someone gave me that two
hundred dollars. Tara, that's more than a Christmas tip. I mean,
that's a just a gift.
Speaker 3 (18:11):
What a beautiful gesture.
Speaker 1 (18:13):
And you know, we have this new tradition that we're
planning to do again. I say, we did it last
year for the first time. On Christmas Night, Me, Murphy
and our girls are heading out on a little, little
small getaway and we're going to find like a waffle
house and go eat on Christmas.
Speaker 3 (18:31):
Coming our new Christmas Night tradition.
Speaker 4 (18:33):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (18:33):
Yeah, and it's a it's cool to be there on
Christmas Night everybody else. It's like, we saw all kinds
of people, a family with a little girl dressed up
in a Christmas too too. Remember, and you dropped a
significant tip for those workers who were working on Christmas.
Speaker 3 (18:50):
Night, and you know there was a little bit of
a wait, and it didn't matter, right, Yeah.
Speaker 2 (18:54):
Exactly, it didn't matter. Okay.
Speaker 1 (18:56):
We also have this from Lisa. This is about baking
and our pumpkin bread recipe. My family has an annual
Christmas baking day every year and pumpkin bread has become
our staple. We use the many loaf pans and make
hundreds of loads of it. We make other things as well,
but it's all censored around the pumpkin bread. We use
a family recipe that's passed down from year to year.
(19:17):
It's very similar to your pumpkin bread, Jody, isn't that.
Speaker 3 (19:20):
Yeah, you've tried doing yours in the many loaf pans,
but you can't. It doesn't come out the same, right,
does it.
Speaker 2 (19:25):
I don't know why, yeah, but I just did not
like it.
Speaker 3 (19:29):
And difference it's just not what you do in the
regular pans is so consistent loaf after loaf.
Speaker 1 (19:36):
Honestly because in baking world, I think the center of
it is what's best, the most moist your favorite word, Sam,
And so when you do it in a mini pan,
you get more outside cooking cooked. Ye, So to me
it wasn't most it was dry, so it wasn't as good.
Keep it coming. We love having you along, jump in anytime.
(19:56):

Speaker 3 (20:01):
Jody has three things to Know Today Coming up next.
Speaker 4 (20:06):
Three things to Know Today brought to you by Jewelry TV.
Speaker 1 (20:09):
Number one Watching and paying attention to what other countries do.
Australia voted this week to ban social media for kids
under the age of sixteen.
Speaker 4 (20:18):
Wow.
Speaker 1 (20:19):
Yeah, and it'll take less than a year for it
to go into effects, so things will be changing there.
The ban will see companies find up to fifty million
Australian dollars if they don't prevent children from having these accounts.
They have to make a real effort to keep children
off of these accounts because they've studied the negative impact
on a child's mental health. I see if that work
(20:40):
because of social media. Correct something to watch. Number two,
this is lovely. In the world of brides, a new
trend is that brides are ditching the big bachelorette parties
where you travel to a city and you have matching
outfits in your party. And they're skipping that tradition to
take a trip alone instead, recharge, relax before walking down
(21:00):
the aisle.
Speaker 4 (21:01):
Decide if it's the right choice.
Speaker 1 (21:04):
Perhaps anyway, it's called a solorette instead of a bachelorette.
Speaker 2 (21:08):
Isn't that solorette?
Speaker 4 (21:09):
Got it all right?
Speaker 2 (21:10):
And number three we didn't talk about this this week.
Speaker 1 (21:13):
The Costco is going to stop selling books in most
of their stores. I love the big book tables, but
then again, it's not selling in Starting in January, five
hundred of their six hundred locations will not be selling
books anymore. They're going to see how it goes for
a while, bring them back if they are sorely missed.
Speaker 6 (21:34):
You're in the note three things to know today.
Speaker 2 (21:39):
Join the conversation anytime.
Speaker 1 (21:40):
We love having you along and moms and dads, make
sure you know, make sure the kids know that tomorrow
our first visit with Santa Claus.
Speaker 4 (21:49):
This year, right, don't imitate.
Speaker 3 (21:52):
Santa visits us every Friday December every year, which is
really awesome. And so kids, you get to send them
your letters. And look, you don't have to be a
kid to send Santa your wishes.
Speaker 1 (22:01):
By the way, yeah, you can email him at Murphy
samon Jody dot com. He'll be here tomorrow and then
every other Friday between now and Christmas. Okay, speaking of online,
this came in from Deanna the crime switching subjects here.
The crime podcast that I enjoyed listening to the most
is called Just Thought Lounge. I really enjoy the sound
of the guy's voice and you also learn and it's
(22:23):
an unbiased factual presentation.
Speaker 2 (22:26):
Okay, cool, Deanna.
Speaker 1 (22:28):
We're always you know, talking about through crime podcasts. You know,
I listened to another one the other day, Murphy while
I was walking exercising the husband of course.
Speaker 2 (22:37):
But anyway, every time, no, but do you know.
Speaker 1 (22:40):
A couple of Christmases back four or five years ago.
I gave you the uh was it twenty three?
Speaker 3 (22:46):
And me, oh, yeah, the DNA thing. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (22:49):
Do you know how many crimes are being solved now
that people have registered themselves into those identity kits.
Speaker 3 (22:57):
I didn't know that. You mean criminals that are registering themselves.
Speaker 1 (23:00):
Well, people, crimes are being solved because so and So's
brother did twenty three. In me, it's helping piece people together.
Speaker 3 (23:12):
With the criminal.
Speaker 4 (23:13):
You have twenty three and met of your favorite criminal
for cres right, exactly, no reason.
Speaker 2 (23:18):
Just try it anyway, Deanna, thank you for that.
Speaker 1 (23:21):
Also, on the subject of podcasts, because we like to
share what we're listening to, you can also listen to Murphy,
Sam and Jody on the podcast Every Day. Hilda says,
I highly recommend the podcast called Boomtown. It's a thirteen
episode series about oil production. It feels to me it's
where Taylor Sheridan got the idea and inspiration for his
show Land Man.
Speaker 5 (23:42):
Oil and gas industry makes three billion dollars a day.
Speaker 3 (23:45):
I'm pure product and it's only getting bigger.
Speaker 1 (23:47):
It will open your eyes. After you listen to this,
you'll be surprised at what you learn. I think you
will enjoy the series much more if you listen to
this podcast.
Speaker 4 (23:55):
Huh.
Speaker 1 (23:56):
So thank you for that, Hilda and that series dropped
what last month Paramount Plus and it's Billy, Bob Thornton,
Demi Moore and John Ham. Okay, so thank you for
the recommendations.
Speaker 3 (24:08):

Make it take a gift ideas for you online at
Murphysamonjody dot com because it actually does mean more if
you put your touch on it.
Speaker 3 (24:24):
Yeah. You know, holidays are a lot about feelings, you know,
and memories, and some of those are not so good,
and many of them are great. And so I think
one of the sweetest memories that anybody can enjoy. If
you had a good childhood, then you enjoy going back
to your childhood home.
Speaker 2 (24:40):
Oh yeah, oh yeah, Oh, I.
Speaker 3 (24:42):
Mean the first time you've seen it as an adult
sometimes like a while, and it always looks totally different.
Speaker 4 (24:46):
Yeah, mine looks so much smaller than the right.
Speaker 3 (24:49):
And you know, in my case, my childhood home, my dad,
my parents lived in until they both passed, so there
was never any other home and then you know, it's
no longer in their family, and we made our peace
with that. It was really sweet to be able to
spend the time back in there again, though, because those
happy memories come back. Well, the same thing. Our daughters,
Taylor and Phoebe got to enjoy that at their childhood home,
(25:11):
our childhood home, you know, for them the other day.
And one of the things that Phoebe did, Jodie, that
was it so well. They walked through the house was
smaller than they remembered it being. And then we go
into the backyard and Phoebe's like, I remember climbing up
in this tree. It's a crape myrtle tree, and she
decided to climb up in it.
Speaker 6 (25:29):
I used to sit right here, how so you?
Speaker 5 (25:34):
I mean, one time I found out when you was
just a trampling with the kind of teenagers sitting.
Speaker 3 (25:39):
And I was like, oh, well, difficult to hate those dogs.
The dog those of dogs were next door, and they
were just I guess they were, you.
Speaker 2 (25:47):
Know, they were fussing at you guys for joe you.
Speaker 3 (25:49):
Know, for Phoebe being up in a tree. She was
just saying how she used to she would climb up
there though, and look at the neighbors from across, you
know the way. A lot of the houses. In her mind,
one of the houses was a haunted house, so it
was always kind of scary and she didn't know what
to expect.
Speaker 2 (26:02):
It was a child's mind. It's so cute.
Speaker 1 (26:05):
I'm so glad that they were able to go back
into that. That house means a lot to them.
Speaker 3 (26:09):
And Taylor remembers exactly where things were placed too. Oh,
I love that, dad. I think we had a shelf here.
It's like, yeah, I.
Speaker 1 (26:16):
Know, I was stuck at the store when they were
doing that. I didn't get get to go because I
want to go too. I'm not going to climb the
tree with that dog parking though. Yeah, it is a
cool thing. Not everyone gets that. I've never been able
to go back to my childhood home and I tried
and they won't call me back.
Speaker 3 (26:33):
I feel so bad about that for you.
Speaker 2 (26:36):
Jody, whatever, I have the memories in my heart.
Speaker 4 (26:40):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (26:43):
Trending now Jody's Hollywood.
Speaker 3 (26:45):
Outsider talk to You by Total Wine and more.
Speaker 1 (26:47):
I guess we're all familiar now with major sporting events
having what they call alt casting, like animated characters you
can watch the regular game, or you can watch the spongebobeo.
Speaker 2 (26:57):
Yeah, or there was a Simpsons one too. I've never
like that. I've watched Manning cast.
Speaker 3 (27:02):
So that's what they mean by alt casting is is
it considered all casting when they show like a different
view when you've got just a view from above or yeah.
Speaker 4 (27:09):
Well you can go to ESPN and pick skycast. Right, Yeah,
that's all the same.
Speaker 2 (27:13):
Not done any of that, you guys.
Speaker 1 (27:15):
But I want to Okay, so there's one coming up
I want to tell you about from Peacock. It's the
upcoming matchup in the NFL on December twenty first supporting game,
the Texans and the Chiefs on Peacock. It'll be a
blend of live action game and video game elements. They're
teaming up with Madden, the NFL game Madden, So it's
(27:37):
going to be a blend of live action the game
and then video game elements.
Speaker 3 (27:41):
How do you interesting that work?
Speaker 2 (27:44):
I don't know, But how do you make any of
the other stuff work?
Speaker 1 (27:46):
They do say it's gonna it'll be The weather will
be important because visibility is required to create the simulation
that the game is being played.
Speaker 2 (27:55):
On top of the game.
Speaker 3 (27:56):
Oh so it's real time AI basically that's making. That's interesting.
Speaker 2 (28:01):
We figured it out.
Speaker 1 (28:02):
Okay, December twenty first you'll have that regular cast and
the alt cast Madden inn f al.
Speaker 5 (28:07):
Game Texter call us eight seven seven three one zero
four m SJ.
Speaker 4 (28:15):
Tony. I got a comment for you here from Christine.
Speaker 2 (28:18):
Hi, Christine and Christina.
Speaker 4 (28:19):
I am glad that you wrote this in oh it says,
oh my, I just heard about the Star Wars sweater
and that you, Jody don't have or have never watched
Star Wars.
Speaker 2 (28:31):
You know, I've tried. I can't.
Speaker 1 (28:34):
I can't care like I can't make myself. It doesn't
grab me.
Speaker 4 (28:39):
Here's Christine makes some great points, and I have to
say after listening that you love Game of Thrones and
Stranger Things, you really should try Star Wars. I think
you would totally love it. And love is capitalized. I
love Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones, Harry Potter,
and Star Wars is right up there with him. Love
your show. You make my day every day on the
(29:00):
way to work, so sweet.
Speaker 2 (29:02):
Thank you for that.
Speaker 1 (29:03):
I do understand how those things would be in seemingly
in the same bucket.
Speaker 3 (29:07):
Yeah, you're just not interested in galaxies far far away.
Speaker 2 (29:10):
No, I'm not.
Speaker 1 (29:13):
It's all sci fi is No, it's not Greg with
Thrones is not sci fi. One Little White Walker doesn't
make sci fi, does it.
Speaker 4 (29:22):
It's not reality.
Speaker 2 (29:23):
No, it's not at all.
Speaker 1 (29:25):
However, by the way, the sweater she's meant she mentioned,
is the one that I gave phoebe early for Christmas,
which is are you Mary Mary sithmus right?
Speaker 2 (29:35):
I like that?
Speaker 4 (29:36):
No clue what that's about, but you gave it anyway.
Speaker 1 (29:39):
No, you told me it's a bad a bad guy,
a bad Jedi. And I do think that on the
front of that sweater was Darth Vader. Yeah, I think
it's no mistaking that hate.
Speaker 4 (29:49):
What you What you don't know, Christine, is that I
actually lent Jody my DVDs for that years ago, years ago.
And I don't think you made it through what twenty
minutes of the first one she.
Speaker 3 (29:59):
Tried, I fell asleep. Yeah, she fell asleep at the
first one. But look, I'm just as guilty. I think
I made it through the first movie in seventy whatever
it is. That's not the first movie, but it is
the first movie however that works. Yeah, And that's the
only one ever made you even care. Yeah, it just
wasn't enough to get me into the rest.
Speaker 1 (30:18):
Yeah, if I ever am just I have all the
extra time, I might try it again, because I remember
that when you loan me those DVDs all those years ago, Sam,
I was watching it on a Friday night, which is
not my opera. Good night, it's form time. Thank you
for jumping in. We love hearing from you. Can email
us anytime. Murphysaman Jody dot com
