Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to the second half of today's Murphy Salmon Jody podcast.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
This is the weekend for game day grub.

Speaker 3 (00:10):
Even if you're going to like a little get together
you don't even care about the game, there is food. Okay,
so proud to offer you our game day grub recipes
at Murphysalmonjody dot com. Homemade cheese fries, homemade burger sauce,
Sam's meatball sandwich, pressed sub, the meatballs and how to
press the sub.

Speaker 4 (00:29):
Yeah, you can use the meatballs by themselves if you want, you.

Speaker 2 (00:32):
Know, so good?

Speaker 1 (00:33):
Can you have two versions of it? Right? You've got
the red sauce or the gravy, Yeah.

Speaker 2 (00:38):
Brown gravy.

Speaker 3 (00:39):
So anyway, and you know what, the cheese fries at home,
that's the reason to break out the air fryer, Murphy,
I might break out our big air fry that I
recently put in a closet because I didn't want it
taking up counter space.

Speaker 1 (00:50):
To make cheese fries.

Speaker 2 (00:51):
I might.

Speaker 3 (00:52):
We also have leftover fried chicken at the house right now,
and I thought we could crisp it up if you want, like,
well today, not going to wait for Sunday.

Speaker 4 (01:01):
Yeah, make the fries and then put the chicken on
the fries with some cheese, throw it in the broiler.

Speaker 1 (01:06):
Boom.

Speaker 2 (01:08):
Okay, a whole piece of chicken.

Speaker 4 (01:10):
Oh I thought you meant cut up chain.

Speaker 1 (01:12):
No, this, get the bones and chicken.

Speaker 2 (01:17):
Way to go super Bowl anyway?

Speaker 3 (01:19):
Do you have any requests Murphy for like, we're gonna
have the game on and we're going to be eating
and all that.

Speaker 2 (01:25):
Any request or what you like me to.

Speaker 1 (01:27):
Make, so you know, I mean, and I'm happy to
make it if you want me to.

Speaker 2 (01:31):
I've heard that before.

Speaker 1 (01:32):
I mean, we could do the little ruben dip or
if you want me to, I'll do like some many
pressed ruben sandwiches. I think that would be good.

Speaker 2 (01:38):
I would like it's an either or. We're not going
to double up on that.

Speaker 1 (01:41):
Well, yeah, I know, I guess it doesn't matter because
you're not gonna eat it.

Speaker 4 (01:44):
What does it matter, you're not touching it.

Speaker 3 (01:46):
You pick then, but let's just stay in the lane
of one. Ruben smells funny.

Speaker 1 (01:51):
If we did both, I could dip the sandwich in
the dip.

Speaker 4 (01:53):
Hey, yeah, I'm looking. I see many corn dogs around
here too. Yeah, it's like two ingredients the pills very
corn bread swirls.

Speaker 2 (01:59):
And I know those are so so good.

Speaker 4 (02:02):
Those will go fast, so easy to make.

Speaker 2 (02:04):
Would you dip it in mustard or something else because
I'm a.

Speaker 4 (02:06):
Mustard Maybe a honey mustard.

Speaker 3 (02:08):
Oh big time, so smart. Anyway, Game day grub all
of your favorite football.

Speaker 1 (02:14):
Food great recipe are starter ideas for you if you're
looking to do something different for the weekend.

Speaker 3 (02:18):
It's also it also works on a weeknight. Just want
to say yeah.

Speaker 1 (02:21):
Coming up next, Joni has three things to Know today.

Speaker 2 (02:26):
Here's three things to know today.

Speaker 4 (02:28):
Brought to you by State Farm.

Speaker 3 (02:29):
Number one, the FAA Federal Aviation Administration. While this investigation
is underway because of that DC midair crash, what are
two weeks ago now. The word is they had been
concerned about traffic at Reagan National Airport there for a
while and they had closed they had pushed to close
one of those three runways at the airport last summer

(02:50):
because they had a couple of close calls between airliners
while they're you know, even still on the ground. But
currently it's all under investigation. But currently at that airport,
those three runways are still in use. Number two, be
careful where and how you take a selfie during excitement
during travel. Apparently last year, four hundred and eighty people

(03:11):
died trying to get a selfie trying to get her
It's called death by selfie, and it's actually more likely
to happen to you than a shock attack anyway, right,
So use common sense, don't ignore barriers. People are falling
from great heights or drowning because of trying to get
a selfie. It's unreal, but it's true. Moving on number three,

(03:33):
it's Super Bowl weekend this weekend on Sunday, Philadelphia Eagles
facing off against the Kansas City Chiefs. Of course you
know that in Super Bowl fifty nine. It's one of
the only reasons we ever use Roman numerals, apparently because
football season runs over two calendar years. This is why
we use Roman numerals. And this one is Super Bowl
l IX fifty nine.

Speaker 5 (03:52):
You're in the know.

Speaker 6 (03:53):
Three things to know today, Sam.

Speaker 3 (03:58):
Of all the things I've suggested, we Murphy and I
have ever suggested you watch, we have found it. Murphy
and I started binging this. We've only done the first
episode of this mini series. It's a behind the scenes
look at Saturday Night Live. It's called SNL fifty beyond
Saturday nights. We watched the first episode, which is all

(04:20):
about the audition PROCESSESSL.

Speaker 1 (04:25):
Was the biggest show every day.

Speaker 2 (04:26):
There was nothing, Mike.

Speaker 4 (04:32):
If you've got to get cool because you get to
see people that are huge stars now when they.

Speaker 3 (04:38):
Weren't struggling when they were new and they didn't even
know who they were. Not only this, but they let
you you watch it. They've never seen their auditions. Amy
Poehler has ever.

Speaker 1 (04:50):
Been given their auditions back. And it's not just about
their audition. It's about how Lauren Michaels and the crew
there selects and how they know what they're looking for,
and then how some people, you know, audition more than once.
It's really fascinating. It's a little bit deeper than you
would normally go out think and do a comedy kind
of documentary. It is incredible. Yeah, so you at.

Speaker 3 (05:11):
Some points in it, I want to give too much away,
but number one, you've got to get Peacock. I know
you don't have it, Yeah, the one I don't have,
get it and then do the free trial.

Speaker 1 (05:18):
And I think the subscription version we have is the
commercials version.

Speaker 3 (05:24):
Yeah, and we only watch commercials in the beginning. It
seems like it didn't have commercials all throughout. I don't
think it did. But let's let me just paint this
picture for you. They'll show you with a split screen,
like Amy Poehler's audition, she didn't even remember what she did,
and then she's you watch her watch it. Yes, some
of them cry, some of them laugh, some of them

(05:46):
say how did I.

Speaker 2 (05:48):
Get chosen for the show? And you have.

Speaker 3 (05:51):
Five minutes and they sometimes they'll give you direction, like
we want you to do a comedy, or we want
you to just do uh, you know, a reading, or
we just want you to talk about yourself. But five
minutes that some of them and they go older cast members,
and they go younger cast members.

Speaker 1 (06:06):
Yeah, you see dan Ackroyd, and then you see the
present Pete Davidson. Oh wow.

Speaker 3 (06:11):
Yeah, it's just crazy and look, we'ren't even it's the
best episodes. I don't think the other episodes, Murphy, I
don't know if you know. The second one is about
the writing room and the writers, and then some of
the people who audition don't get chosen to be cast members,
but they get chosen to be writers. Yeah, Likedekas He's
on there. So the second episode Murphy is apparently about

(06:32):
the writer's room, and then there's another one about sketches
called more cow Bell.

Speaker 2 (06:36):
That's the one.

Speaker 4 (06:38):
I have to get my free seven day travel.

Speaker 2 (06:40):
I think you do need to highly recommend.

Speaker 1 (06:42):
Coming up, Jody has another Hollywood Outsider, and next Sam
is the food Dude. Yeah, in a world.

Speaker 4 (06:46):
Of zero beverages, Coke is bringing back a diet drink.

Speaker 2 (06:53):
If it's new and you can eat it, Sam's found it.
Here's the food Dude, brought to you by International Animal Rescue.

Speaker 4 (07:00):
Coke is bringing back diet cherry Coke this summer. Okay, yeah,
it went away apparently during the they're in COVID twenty
twenty when they had aluminum supply issues and so Coke
got rid of a bunch of their not performing well drinks. Okay,
but it's been around since eighty six.

Speaker 2 (07:15):
About to say it must have been performing well enough.

Speaker 1 (07:18):
I remember diet cherry Coke well, and I don't have
an issue with the drinks that are still labeled diet.
I know they taste a little bit different from zero.

Speaker 2 (07:25):
I'm a zero person.

Speaker 1 (07:26):
Yeah, they're interchangeable to me.

Speaker 4 (07:28):
What's funny, though, is I'm a zero person, but one
of my exes is a diet person. I know she
will not touch a zero. I have only drink diet.

Speaker 3 (07:35):
I have a friend who swears she's addicted to diet coke,
nothing else for her in this world.

Speaker 4 (07:40):
This will be hitting in sept I mean July. Also
landing in July. The name of this one is Great
Mountain Dew's got a new version called Honeydew.

Speaker 1 (07:51):
Surprising to think that that took seventy five years, and.

Speaker 4 (07:53):
Actually it's been in Cataba for a while. We're finally
getting it here this year. Okay, and it's Honeydew.

Speaker 2 (07:59):
Melon flavor of course. Funny d e w.

Speaker 4 (08:02):
Oh man the commercial. Yeah during the Super Bowl. Tell
me they're doing it also to over at a Taco Bell.
You know, they got the Baja blasts while they have
added some vanilla cream to some of them. So now
we have dirty Baja blasts at the Taco Bell. Three
different flavors. Okay, you know how we have the Cinnamonta's
crunched Totino's Pizza role flavor. The haha.

Speaker 2 (08:23):
Right now it's a pizza roll.

Speaker 4 (08:26):
Yeah, no, it's cereal, but it's got a pizza role Cinmon.
Oh yeah, well, Totinos is now going into ramen as well.
They're going to be selling two different flavors of ramen
Cheese Pizza Ramen and Buffalo chicken pizza Ramen.

Speaker 1 (08:40):
Okay, that makes a little more sense to me.

Speaker 4 (08:46):
Peeps, we have a new pizza flavor, cinnamon Churro.

Speaker 1 (08:48):
Look for it.

Speaker 4 (08:49):
Cut your favorite Sweetheart for yourself. Heart and Shape biscuits
are back at Hearty's for Valentine's Day. I know we
covered a lot of the pizzas and donuts, but you
have biscuits there. And nobody ever does anything really for
Saint Patty's Day except McDonald's. Yeah yeah, but Aldi this
year is doing all kinds of stuff for Saint Patti's Day,

(09:11):
including their lepra cones. It's like man chocolate chip in
a in an ice cream cone. Okay, so it's the
sounds good. You can get ahead for that, but I
guess Valentine's Day is a week away, so.

Speaker 3 (09:24):
You need coming up next to your Hollywood Outsider.

Speaker 5 (09:29):
Trending now Jody's Hollywood Outsider.

Speaker 4 (09:32):
Brought to by all State.

Speaker 2 (09:33):
We got the trailer this weekend. It looks so funny.

Speaker 3 (09:35):
And sweet for the new Smurfs movie that's coming out
this year. And wait, you wanted new music from Rihanna
this year, You're going to get it. She's in it
a Smurfat and her music is heavily featured.

Speaker 5 (09:47):
The music and Smurf Village every day is a party.
Every Smurf has a job, like Grouchy.

Speaker 6 (10:00):
Smashed that subscribe button and me.

Speaker 5 (10:03):
The coolest Smurf in the whole village.

Speaker 2 (10:06):
It looks really cool if you love the old Smurfs.

Speaker 3 (10:09):
It's very true to the retro. Okay. It also stars
James Corden, so look for this. This is the you know,
the whole village. It's all there. It's gonna be in
theaters July eighteenth. So it's more music from Rihanna and
some new stuff too. Also just looking ahead to Sunday.
One of the commercials apparently Ben Affleck is at it
again as well, bringing us dunk King's.

Speaker 4 (10:29):
I don't think you should do this? Last year she
came to my work. Now I gotta show her what.

Speaker 3 (10:35):
Oh no, I don't think they're allowed to be in
the same room together. But by the way, those dunk
King track suits that they sold already sold out again
two hundred and thirty seven dollars sweatsuits, but Duncan reminds
everybody the meal deals are still available, but the tracksuits
are sold albumber We have a message that came in

(10:56):
from Christy on Instagram. Yeah, hey, guys, heard you talking
about true crime lately? Yes, we have, because we've been
binging a bit of it ourselves. She says, I'd like
to suggest that you guys watch Kings of Tufolow on Netflix.

Speaker 6 (11:11):
I had the most controversial story in the entire state
of Mississippi and possibly the entire country. My mama raised
me on Jesus and all this and coulumbrating yes in
that order.

Speaker 1 (11:23):
How did I merg this one? She said?

Speaker 2 (11:25):
It's wild.

Speaker 3 (11:25):
It's like true crime meets the Tiger King. Yes it is,
and Sam would love it. It's hilarious fiction.

Speaker 4 (11:31):
Right, it's real.

Speaker 1 (11:33):
It's real.

Speaker 2 (11:34):
Yeah, it's true crime.

Speaker 4 (11:35):
Yeah really, yeah, true it's not false crime. It's true crime. Okay,
it's not one, but two Elvis impersonators.

Speaker 2 (11:42):
Who are involved in I don't want to.

Speaker 4 (11:44):
Give it away, but yeah, there's some criminal activity going
on and you've.

Speaker 2 (11:47):
Already done this. You watch more true crime than you admit.
Then Sam, you come tell me about that.

Speaker 4 (11:52):
Actually, what I have to do is go back and
rewatch a lot of these because I blow through them
so quick.

Speaker 1 (11:56):
Yeah, then you don't retain them.

Speaker 2 (11:57):
Yeah yeah, right, then you get your crimes confused.

Speaker 4 (12:00):
Uh huh.

Speaker 2 (12:00):
Then you're talking to people and you're like, that's not
what happened.

Speaker 4 (12:03):
I mean, like, right now, I'm confusing Diddy stories with
oj stories.

Speaker 2 (12:08):
I'm still watching the Fall of Ditty.

Speaker 3 (12:10):
Sean did he calls facing a slew of allegations, I
will say, And it's on Max and I think it's
four or five episodes.

Speaker 2 (12:16):
I'm in the second episode. And the reason that.

Speaker 3 (12:21):
Yes, it's an ugly, horrible thing, but there's a couple
of things that really keep me there. It's happening now.
This man's trial starts in May. And then, honestly, Murphy,
the inner workings of the music industry.

Speaker 2 (12:35):
You get a real picture here.

Speaker 3 (12:37):
You're talking about somebody who was in a very powerful position,
and it seemed like he really abused it more and
more the longer he was in a powerful position. The
thing that is also interesting, and I think I told
you this the other morning when I first started watching it.
I came in and I said, Sam, he was talented enough,
and he didn't He just he should have never done anything.

(13:01):
You just didn't have to do any of this alleged
all the alleged stuff.

Speaker 1 (13:05):
Maybe I'm just a loading. I'm staying on the lighter
side of all of this, because you know, we'd watched
the yacht Rock documentary. I was happy with that one crime.

Speaker 4 (13:14):
Cleanse your mind with one of those.

Speaker 3 (13:16):
That's not true crime, though it's true music and art.
