Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to the Murphy Samon Jody Daily Show podcast.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
How to help Yourself if you are feeling burned out.
I think it's one of the most important questions you
can ask yourself and be honest with yourself about what
helps you restore yourself because there's no wrong answer.

Speaker 3 (00:18):
There's no right answer. No one else can tell you.

Speaker 2 (00:21):
You know what makes you feel restored or or is
your guilty pleasure down time?

Speaker 3 (00:28):
But you need that and it.

Speaker 4 (00:30):
Could be a hard answer too to come to. Yeah,
like knowing what will make you feel better, but can
you make that decision to make to do that?

Speaker 3 (00:38):
Okay?

Speaker 2 (00:39):
I just mean something every day, whether that's reading for you,
remember mine, what are you talking about?

Speaker 3 (00:44):
Sam?

Speaker 4 (00:45):
Seriously, I was talking about serious things in personal life
or in business life, and it's like, Okay, I know
how to fix this, but that's going to be a
hard move, a hard decision or hard whatever.

Speaker 2 (00:56):
Oh you're talking about major life changes. I'm talking about
thirty minutes a day.

Speaker 1 (01:00):
Oh okay, yeah right. Most people think. Yeah, I think
it's a very twenty twenty five thing, you know what
I mean? At the pace that the way that everything
is set up today in our lives between social media,
constant info everything. Burnout is an easy thing.

Speaker 2 (01:15):
It's harder to be a young person today entering the workforce.
It's harder to be a young person today paying rent
for the first time.

Speaker 3 (01:23):
Things like that. It is so much.

Speaker 1 (01:24):
And we associate the word burnout with work, but that's
not always it. Burnout can be you've been trying to
lose weight forever and you're burned out on trying that
sort of thing. It's not what.

Speaker 2 (01:34):
You think you should do. Or maybe you're burned out
on family drama.

Speaker 1 (01:38):
Yeah, or a relationship I mean right.

Speaker 4 (01:40):
Yeah, yeah, that is that personal le.

Speaker 1 (01:43):
Murphy, No, no, not at all. I love Jody, it
would never get tired.

Speaker 3 (01:48):
That's not true. Love does not mean you're not hard
of things.

Speaker 1 (01:51):
Hey, look, you know we work together every day, but
we'll still go grab lunch.

Speaker 2 (01:54):
Right, So yeah, not today though anyway. So the reason
I say that, you know about self care. The number
one answer for burnout is self care. And that's a
million things. That's sleeping good, that's eating better, it's exers
working in some exercise. That doesn't even you have to
train hard and be in pain. It just means something
light around it is and That's why I say one

(02:17):
of the biggest questions you can answer yourself and then
start doing it is something that you enjoy and they
call it guilty pleasure, no guilt. If you want to
watch True Crime for thirty minutes tonight.

Speaker 1 (02:28):
Do itty pleasure.

Speaker 3 (02:29):
I want to crank up Frank Sinatra, Murph.

Speaker 1 (02:33):
She's looking straight at me.

Speaker 3 (02:34):
That's something that you do.

Speaker 1 (02:36):
Escape but always is do it without guilt.

Speaker 2 (02:39):
And that is one little piece of the puzzle of
self care. And then that last thing is that if
you need to speak to someone a mental health professional,
do it.

Speaker 1 (02:48):
Yeah. Coming up at six fifty, Jodi has three things
to note today.

Speaker 2 (02:51):
Coming up next, ideas of what to put on your
simple pasta love having you along, so jump in so
many ways to do that. You can even leave us
a voicemail if you're calling when we are not here,
are on the other line. So eight seven seven three
one zero four msj.

Speaker 5 (03:10):
Never miss a call. Murphy Salmon Jody twenty four hour voicemail.

Speaker 6 (03:15):
Good morning, Murphy Salmon, Jody, And I heard you mentioned
getting the key lime drink. It's available at Chick fil A.
I worked there and just want a dimension to it
in this weekend. Don't wait too long, have a great day.

Speaker 1 (03:26):
Thanks man, Thank you for the voicemail. It ends this weekend.

Speaker 2 (03:30):
That old marketing trick of taking something away just to
make us want it more and then then bring it.

Speaker 3 (03:35):
Back in the summer.

Speaker 1 (03:36):
Didn't they just start it?

Speaker 3 (03:37):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (03:38):
I don't drive through that often. I went in the
other day and got a kid's meal, remember, and I
saw that it's a key lime lemonade that you can
have frosted like frosted lemonade, key Lime, and it just
sounds fantastic.

Speaker 4 (03:50):
Seems like you just did that in food dude, within
the last week, probably in the probably been there a
month or so. Okay, Usually don't bring them out for
a week.

Speaker 3 (03:58):
Yeah right, Maybe it's not doing well then. I don't know.
We'll get it today.

Speaker 4 (04:03):
Swing on Sunday and pick one up.

Speaker 3 (04:05):
Good idea, Sure you will, okay.

Speaker 2 (04:07):
From our Instagram and Facebook pages, we shared a little
reel of the pasta dish that our oldest tailor made
earlier this week.

Speaker 3 (04:15):
Murphy.

Speaker 2 (04:16):
It's the simple pasta pasta with garlic and olive oil.

Speaker 3 (04:20):
That's all it is. Now she does you know?

Speaker 2 (04:22):
She sautez the garlic and then it's really good, high
quality olive oil, and she does a little parmesan and
she'll do a little red pepper flake. So it's not
just three ingredients. But it's a simple, simple dish. And
we shared, you know, her method and all that. Lynette
said she does Julianne zucchini tossed with linguini and fresh

(04:44):
garlic and herb butter and olive oil, finished with parmesan.

Speaker 1 (04:48):
That sounds good. I think I've seen that on restaurant
menus before as a side.

Speaker 2 (04:53):
Yeah bonus if you want to make sauteed lemon and
garlic shrimp and add that to it. Ooh yeah, it
could be yeah, your protein and your car Okay, Iris
says this simple and it looks yummy.

Speaker 3 (05:06):
I like to add cilantro.

Speaker 1 (05:10):
He lost me on that one.

Speaker 2 (05:11):
I'm sorry. Iris, Murphy's one of those He's against cilantro
in all its forms. Add cilantro and olive salad to
give it extra flavor. Whoa, she adds olive salad to
pasta editions.

Speaker 1 (05:21):
Now olive salad, so it is like a great edition.
I just can't do cilantro.

Speaker 3 (05:25):
Bring it.

Speaker 2 (05:25):
Can you tell we love food? You can talk to
us about food anytime, any day.

Speaker 1 (05:30):
Coming up next, Jody has your Hollywood Outsider.

Speaker 2 (05:32):
John Ham has a new show and I'm gonna tell
you all about it.

Speaker 5 (05:37):
Jody's Hollywood Outsider brought to you by Prima Team mist
There is a new show coming to Apple TV starring
John Ham, the very Jon Ham from Madmen and from
Top Gun Maverick and a million other little things, especially commercials.

Speaker 2 (05:52):
He's so great, I'm ready for him to be leading
his own show again. And that's what he is. He's
the lead in this show.

Speaker 1 (05:57):
Now.

Speaker 3 (05:58):
It sounds like to me, it's either gonna be fantastic.

Speaker 7 (06:01):
Or you know what I mean.

Speaker 2 (06:03):
So he's a disgraced hedge fund manager who gets fired
from his cushy, you know, fancy job, and he decides to,
I guess, rip off his He lives in this really
rich neighborhood and he realizes all that he needs to
survive is right under his nose without working, and he

(06:25):
starts ripping off his family, I'm sorry, ripping off his
friends and neighbors. It's called your friends and neighbors.

Speaker 1 (06:33):
No one would ever suspect him for a guy like me,
viewed from a certain perspective, life boils down to a
series of interconnected decisions.

Speaker 2 (06:43):
He plays Andrew Cooper, also known as Coop, and he
literally starts a life of crime where he had never
been a criminal before, and it's him stealing all this
stuff imagine Chanelle purses and things like that and then going.

Speaker 3 (06:55):
To pawn shops.

Speaker 2 (06:57):
April eleventh on Apple TV, called Your Friends and Neighbors.

Speaker 5 (07:01):
Coming up next.

Speaker 1 (07:02):
Amanda's calling in. Wants to join the conversation.

Speaker 2 (07:06):
Jump in eight seven seven three one zero four MSJ.

Speaker 1 (07:11):
How are you, Amanda?

Speaker 7 (07:13):
I'm good. So I listen every morning on my way
to work, and this morning I heard the happy wife,
happy life. Yeah, and one of you mentioned spouse, but
there was no rhyme. There is happy hell, happ happy spouse,
happy house.

Speaker 3 (07:31):
Okay, is it happy spouse, happy house?

Speaker 4 (07:35):
Is it?

Speaker 3 (07:35):
Spouse comes first? Seems like it would? Okay?

Speaker 2 (07:38):
Cool again. I like it, but also my only issue
is with it. And it's cute, it's cutty, but it's
not based only on somebody else. Right, You can't let
your happiness is not based on solely on someone else.
It has to be based on you too, like you
have to make yourself happy.

Speaker 7 (07:54):
Oh, absolutely, totally.

Speaker 4 (07:56):
Come on don't be a party pooper at rhymes.

Speaker 1 (08:00):
It does.

Speaker 7 (08:01):
In my thought, a happy spouse is not necessarily you
making your spouse happy, but them being happy.

Speaker 2 (08:09):
Yes, yeah, them being happy. Oh absolutely. I think that's
what the wife one means too. I heard that when
I was a little girl. Happy wife, happy life, if
she's happy. And honestly it also it touches on that
thing where if mom, who really is so integral to
everything in the household, if mom is not happy, everyone

(08:30):
feels it.

Speaker 7 (08:32):
I can agree with that.

Speaker 2 (08:33):
I've got four kids, oh yeah, yeah, and you sort
of carry the emotional weight of the family, and so
when you're when your emotions are off, everybody else feels that.

Speaker 7 (08:43):
It's hard for them not to Sometimes we definitely got
to work on that as mom cannot take it out
on others, correct esp Actually when they're just being little people.

Speaker 2 (08:55):
They are just being little people. Everything is new to them.
Say it again for us.

Speaker 7 (09:00):
Happy self, happy house.

Speaker 2 (09:02):
Nice All right, appreciated, Amanda, You have a good one.

Speaker 7 (09:06):
Thanks guys, You'll have a good day.

Speaker 1 (09:07):
Thank you, Jenny. I think and also is what you
say about energy in the room. You know, if somebody's unhappy,
it's a negative energy in the room, and that can
affect everybody else around you.

Speaker 2 (09:17):
Yeah, we all bring something into every room and situation
we enter, and that is our energy, and energy is felt.

Speaker 3 (09:24):
Some people feel it more. Some people are more sensitive
to other people's energy than others.

Speaker 1 (09:28):
Well, that's why when somebody positive walks into a room,
the room lights up.

Speaker 2 (09:32):
Yes, all right, keep it coming, jump in anytime. Coming
up next, Three things.

Speaker 3 (09:35):
To know Today. Here's three things to know today, brought.

Speaker 4 (09:40):
To you by State Farm.

Speaker 2 (09:41):
Number one, studentaid dot gov, the federal website for student
loans and financial aid where you log on they get
into your FAFSAW was down yesterday. And this is, of course,
a day after the Department of Education laid off approximately
half of its workforce. Is it related, so it staff
also laid off, and so it seems like there's been

(10:02):
no comment, but everything that is essential for college financial
aid nobody could find out about. And then lots of
technical issues. Later in the day, it showed the website
planned maintenance when you tried to log on, but you
couldn't log in. Later it seemed to return to normal operations.
So we shall see Number two. Those two astronauts stuck

(10:25):
on the International Space Station. Gonna have to wait, and
they were there since last June. Yeah, I'm gonna have to.

Speaker 3 (10:30):
Wait a little longer. SpaceX.

Speaker 2 (10:32):
That rocket was supposed to go up there last night,
yesterday and get them the four astronauts who were strapped
in and ready to go. They were ready, but then
it was called off forty five minutes before because of
a hydraulics issue.

Speaker 4 (10:45):
Is what we're told we can go tomorrow now, right,
they're looking at tomorrow's law.

Speaker 3 (10:48):
That's what we're hearing. We shall see.

Speaker 2 (10:50):
And number three, the same cruise ship that had norovirus
the outbreak had it had it for a second time already.
The CDC says that more than eighty people came down
with it on the Princess Cruise to Mexico over the weekend.
There were more than two thousand people on the ship,
but only eighty reported being sick, including some crew members.

Speaker 5 (11:09):
You're up to date.

Speaker 6 (11:10):
Three things to know today.

Speaker 2 (11:14):
This keeps coming up in its valuable information. How to
save on a wedding. It's one of the most expensive
events that you can ever be responsible for paying the
bill for, and so if you can save money, We're
always going to shout out out for you. It doesn't
matter if you're a first time bride, second third, it
doesn't matter or family or groom or whatever. Okay, So
how to save on a wedding And we had talked

(11:35):
about this a little bit. Midweek weddings like get married
on a Wednesday or Thursday instead of the Saturday night thing.

Speaker 3 (11:42):
That's more expensive for venues.

Speaker 1 (11:44):
Especially if you want to limit attendance. That's a tough night.

Speaker 3 (11:48):
Backyard wedding.

Speaker 2 (11:49):
Your friend with the nicest backyard, you know, ask a favor,
brunch weddings people are doing just you know, thinking outside
of the typical wedding box.

Speaker 1 (11:57):
This sounds like fun.

Speaker 2 (11:58):
Kathy sent this in how she saved on a wedding.
Found dresses for my girls and myself at Nordstrom rack.
That just means, you know, not designed, not a you know,
specific boutique with a higher price. And his family helped
with everything. Ten brothers and sisters whoa My friend made
the cake as a gift. That's a great gift. If

(12:21):
you have a friend who does that and can do that,
let that be the wedding gift to you. You got
a wedding cake boom. We were on a very tight budget,
but it was beautiful. His sister did all of the
flowers too. We've been married for thirty five years. All right,
it's very very cool. Vicky said, my parents got our
alcohol on a cruise in the Caribbean.

Speaker 1 (12:43):
That they got it.

Speaker 4 (12:47):
I didn't get a cheap down there. They carted it
back up here and then had used it for the wedding.

Speaker 3 (12:52):
Okay, is it that much cheaper?

Speaker 1 (12:54):
I don't know when you and I went on the
cruise a long time ago that we did. I didn't
see a big savings and difference on that. But whatever
you were.

Speaker 3 (13:01):
Also drinking then I was.

Speaker 4 (13:03):
I'd like to chime in, but I don't remember it.

Speaker 2 (13:07):
Vicky also said we had friends Bartend smart shack. Like,
think of your friend and family group and what they
could do. Maybe they'd be willing to do that. We
won our cake at a wedding show.

Speaker 1 (13:18):
Oh that's cool.

Speaker 2 (13:19):
I had my girls wear different colored dresses from a
wedding store that were on clearance. Man, Vicky, way to
go love these ideas. Susan said, my third marriage and
my dress was thirty six dollars.

Speaker 1 (13:34):
It didn't look like that.

Speaker 3 (13:36):
That's right. You didn't even have to tell us that.

Speaker 1 (13:38):
Coming up seven fifty Jody has three things to know
today and next, Sam has music news.

Speaker 4 (13:43):
Why Billy Joel is postponing the next four months of concerts.

Speaker 6 (13:49):
Sam's got music news brought to.

Speaker 3 (13:51):
You by T Mobile.

Speaker 4 (13:52):
I don't know if you heard the news, but Billy
Joel is postponing the next four months of concerts.

Speaker 3 (13:59):
Why was that earned it?

Speaker 1 (14:00):
Right?

Speaker 4 (14:00):
He had surgery and no details are coming out on this,
but he's had a surgery. It's an undisclosed medical condition
and he's got to undergo doctor supervised physical therapy over
the next few months. So all the concerts between this
weekend he had one scheduled through the July fifth date
in Pittsburgh have been rescheduled till early next year. The

(14:23):
July fifth date in Pittsburgh is still on. That's like
the first concert that's going to be.

Speaker 3 (14:27):
Eat any of these, the ones with Stevie Nicks.

Speaker 4 (14:30):
Yeah, the one in Detroit that's got Stevie Nicks, a
couple with Sting as well, and the couple that are
just him.

Speaker 3 (14:35):
Okay, okay, but.

Speaker 4 (14:36):
If you got tickets for the shows, if you already
bought your tickets, they're going to be good. At the
new shows. He did have a fall on stage at
his last concert back in February, but they're not saying
if that's related to what happened or any of that.

Speaker 3 (14:48):
So no, he reserves that right. We all do medical private.

Speaker 4 (14:51):
So July fifth, Pittsburgh, that one's still on. Everything before
that being rescheduled. If you're keeping up with the Voice
on NBC this season season twenty seven, the coaches have
now named their Battle Round advisors and the big names
that come with m Yes, that first went up, a
really big one, Cynthia Arrivo. She is gonna be working

(15:11):
with Michael Bublao. Also, John Legend's got Coco Jones, Adam
Levine has Kate Hudson. That's kind of cool.

Speaker 3 (15:21):
That is cool.

Speaker 4 (15:22):
Kelsey Ballerini has a little big town got it okay,
So look for those in the Battle rounds. And a
proof that even royalty can make a playlist. King Charles
the Third now has a playlist on Apple Music. He
partnered up with them and he did a little show
over on the BBC where he unveiled his list.

Speaker 1 (15:43):
I heard about that actually.

Speaker 4 (15:44):
He even says his music has the remarkable ability to
bring the memories fling back from the deepest recesses of
my memory.

Speaker 3 (15:51):
Sounds like something he said.

Speaker 1 (15:52):
And he actually has a very surprisingly diverse tas music.

Speaker 4 (15:55):
Oh yeah, he's got Beyonce on there.

Speaker 3 (16:00):
That's funny. I can't fixture him listening to that.

Speaker 4 (16:02):
Oh, Michael Bubla, haven't met you yet. It's even got
Kylie Minogue. And he goes back too, he's got some
Diana Ross. Can you imagine not gone off in Buckingham Palace?

Speaker 1 (16:13):
I mean, yes, yeah, I mean he grew up in
the sixties. There's a lot of that stuff. Music actually
was a really big part. I know we don't think
about that, but it was a big part of the monarchy.

Speaker 2 (16:24):
Yeah, all right, Coming up next, your Hollywood Outsider, the.

Speaker 5 (16:30):
Latest buzz Jody's Hollywood Outsider, brought.

Speaker 4 (16:33):
To you by Private Team.

Speaker 2 (16:34):
Miss that original Leelo and Stitch movie, the animated movie
from two thousand and two. You either love that and
get that story or you don't, and it's just to
me right to the heart.

Speaker 3 (16:43):
Well, guess what.

Speaker 2 (16:45):
The Lelo and Stitch live action movie is really right
around the corner in theaters May twenty third, and now
we have our first live action trailer shooting Stye.

Speaker 4 (16:57):
I'm chriestraight French.

Speaker 1 (17:01):
Like a best friend.

Speaker 2 (17:04):
It's so beautiful and you do see this young orphan
Lee Low form a close bond with Stitch. And if
you don't know who and what Stitches, I won't ruin
it for you if you don't know the original movie.
So beautiful. Yeah, it just looks fantastic. And of course
it's live action.

Speaker 4 (17:20):
Does it look like it works? It?

Speaker 3 (17:22):
Does?

Speaker 2 (17:22):
You know Disney can do the live action where everything
is CGI not only one thing is cgi'd. Here use
your imagination on what that would be. So no kidding,
it's this really is one for families in theaters May
twenty third, and it's rated PG.

Speaker 3 (17:36):
I also have.

Speaker 2 (17:37):
Some Sadie Sink news from Stranger Things. You know, she's
the redheaded girl who plays Max.

Speaker 1 (17:42):
Right.

Speaker 2 (17:43):
They've wrapped filming on the final season. She said it
was emotional. But she's busy. Lot's going on Hulu, movie coming,
She's working on Broadway, and the word is she is
joining the cast of the next Spider Man movie, spider Man.
