Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to the second half of today's Murphy, Sam and
Jody podcast.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
When you get an invitation to a fancy event like
a wedding or such, and there's an RSVP involved, how
does how do you usually r s VP?

Speaker 1 (00:16):
How like method?

Speaker 2 (00:18):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (00:19):
In the card usually there's a If it's a fancy
there's a card and you're supposed to send it back right, yes.

Speaker 2 (00:26):
Or I've even seen call this number to rs VP.

Speaker 4 (00:29):
I've never seen call.

Speaker 2 (00:30):
But my niece is getting married in May. Wow, And
so I got a double whammy, two invitations at once,
once for one for the couple shower or the other
for the wedding. Nice. The wedding came with the card RSVP,
but on the card was a QR code. Of course RSVP.
Scan the QR code and respond of course, so you

(00:51):
know it the first thing, throw the invites away, give
me that card and yeah, it worked. You click it
and they were tied. They registered a lot of this
on the not you know, the website. I so this
was kind of like tied back to that for the RSVP.
So I did it and then it pops up and
it says, do you plan on attending our the wedding
and the date and all that. Sure, yes or no,

(01:11):
And it's like, hmmm, sure, why not? You know how
many people? And then put your name down. Now it
said put your full name, and so I put my
full name. But they came up that there was no
person by that name that's been invited.

Speaker 4 (01:25):
That's because they didn't put your full name in.

Speaker 2 (01:27):
I went back and looked at the card and it
said my you know, Sam.

Speaker 4 (01:29):
Norse, They've got you so casual.

Speaker 3 (01:31):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:31):
Well, and I think when they say full name these days,
it's a it's a Sometimes it's first, middle last. Sometimes
they just mean first and last.

Speaker 2 (01:39):
Yeah you know, yeah, that's fallen. And sure enough they
had two of us, me and and Sammy, who's also
Sam your son.

Speaker 3 (01:46):
Okay, so was there a QR code for the couple
shower also.

Speaker 2 (01:50):
Just for the wedding. I thought it would cover both
of them, but it's just for the wedding.

Speaker 3 (01:54):
It's probably more important that they have a headcount for
the wedding than the couple shower.

Speaker 2 (01:58):
Yeah, correct, Yeah.

Speaker 1 (02:00):
Well they bought I'm guessing they bought a package from
the Knot, which is why they got the QR code,
which is smart marketing. For the knot because you'll be
on a mailing list from now on for other things.

Speaker 4 (02:09):
Yeah, right with the consumer warning.

Speaker 2 (02:12):
Yeah it is.

Speaker 1 (02:12):
I mean, that's the it's the QR code has has
an additional benefit.

Speaker 2 (02:16):
In term going to have to voice my disciplinable at
the wedding coming up next.

Speaker 1 (02:21):
Jody has three things to know today.

Speaker 4 (02:25):
Here's three things to know today.

Speaker 2 (02:27):
Brought to you buy home Depot Number one.

Speaker 3 (02:30):
There was a press conference yesterday with astronauts Butch Wilmore
and Sunny Williams who were supposed to be on that
Star Aligner test flight for eight days and it turned
out to be nine and a half months. And at
the conference, when asked they you know, hey, whose fault
is this? Do you blame anyone? Wilmore said that he
should have asked more questions. He says, he blames himself,

(02:51):
you know. But they felt honored to do it, you know.
She said she felt honored that she was able to
conduct world class science, which she felt was her job.

Speaker 4 (03:01):
Number two.

Speaker 3 (03:02):
Mexico is banning junk food in schools and it starts
this week. The country has the worst ob CD rates
in the entire world for children and so at schools
this week they're going to phase out sugary fruit drinks
and chips and pork rines and start serving healthy alternatives
bean tacos water instead of juice, slowly but surely.

Speaker 4 (03:24):
Phasing it out in school anyway.

Speaker 3 (03:26):
And number three, this whole thing with Morgan Wallen, who
performed on SNL this weekend. NBC apparently fine with inviting
him back. They're not upset, and including cast member Keenan Thompson,
joked this week that.

Speaker 4 (03:39):
Hey, we just don't think he understood the assignment.

Speaker 2 (03:41):
Made walking off the stage.

Speaker 3 (03:42):
At the walking off the stage and not saying goodbye,
Keenan said that Prince did the same thing. I'm not
saying that Morgan Wallen is Prince, but we weren't surprised.
Prince was also standoffish.

Speaker 4 (03:54):
You're in the note three things to Know Today.

Speaker 3 (04:00):
Hopefully going to help you prevent a dog bite with
this info. Have you guys ever been bitten by a dog?
Because I never have, thankfully, and it's a wonder.

Speaker 1 (04:08):
I think I've been nipped at by a dog. I
don't have been bitten by a cat. That was not fun.

Speaker 4 (04:13):
Hey, sorry, this is not about the cat thing.

Speaker 3 (04:15):
I'm sorry, Yeah, Murphy was petting a friend of ours
cat and we were just visiting and then he just
got attacked for no apparent.

Speaker 2 (04:22):
Yeah, one of your cats attacked me that one time
years ago. What's the scratch me and stuff?

Speaker 4 (04:28):
I do not even remember this.

Speaker 2 (04:29):
I think this was the y'all's first house, back when
this was before.

Speaker 4 (04:32):
We had kids.

Speaker 1 (04:33):
It's a weird little schizophrenia. You're they're laying there, they
want you to pet them, they're enjoying. Then all of
a sudden, well just beware.

Speaker 4 (04:40):
Okay.

Speaker 3 (04:41):
So the ways to prevent a dog bite they say that,
and this breaks my heart. They say that kids, children
are more likely to be bitten by dogs because their
behavior is more sort of erratic.

Speaker 1 (04:53):
Oh, I can see that because they're they're scared, I
mean lower to the ground. That behavior can be intimidating
to a dog or act.

Speaker 4 (05:00):
It can scare them.

Speaker 3 (05:02):
I had this situation the other day walking and a
dog that I'd never seen before that looked like ghosts
from Game of Throne. Sam was coming down the driveway
at me, and I knew to slow down and be calm,
But your natural instinct is to get away fast, and.

Speaker 4 (05:17):
That's one of the things.

Speaker 3 (05:18):
You're not supposed to run away, run away, Well, no,
you're supposed to stay calm and walk and stand still
or slowly and then slowly retreat. Standstill or slowly retreat kids.

Speaker 1 (05:30):
And I would think the eye contacts probably not a
good thing either, because they will see that as a threat.

Speaker 4 (05:35):
That's on the list.

Speaker 1 (05:35):
That's that's another reason that you know kids and it's
it seems counterintuitive, but when a kid's at eye level
with a dog, they don't know that be a problem.

Speaker 3 (05:45):
Because everything is about body language to a dog. That's
how they communicate with each other, with other dogs, So
your body language becomes really important. So if there's a
dog and you feel them coming at you, it's it's
also counterintued if you want to just get away, but
you got to calm down and present a calm and

(06:05):
slowly retreat. If you are being bitten, attacked, jumped on
by a dog or whatever, you're supposed to try to
get something in between you and the dog, like a
backpack or a bike or something like that. And if
you have, if you do get knocked down, you're supposed
to curl your body into a ball. Really yeah, using
your arms, use your arms and your hands to protect

(06:26):
your head and your face, but keep your fingers in
a fist so that they don't get a finger. Oh yeah, yeah,
it's you know, scary stuff to talk about, but you're
out more in the spring, and sometimes you know the
dogs are out there too that are not supposed to be.

Speaker 4 (06:40):
Coming up with Murphy Sam and Jody.

Speaker 1 (06:42):
Jody has another Hollywood Outsider and coming up next, what
to be careful of before you walk out with a
go cup. Next time.

Speaker 3 (06:50):
You can get the whole show when it's convenient for you,
take us along anytime of the day. It's the Murphy,
Sam and Jody Podcast. And there's a bonus one called
after the show.

Speaker 1 (06:59):
Sam didn't get a chance to tell you about this
one yet. Jody and I were having dinner the other night,
and uh, this is something that happened to me since
I was a kid. We're finished with dinner and Jody
wanted a go cop for her for her alcohol. No,
we were both drinking tea and so when the goat

(07:20):
coups came out, they were on the table. Jody filled
hers up and I reached out for my cup and
as I pulled my hand back, it started. It was
following me, the cup was following me. Every electricity right exactly.
And I haven't had I haven't had the static electricity
thing happen with styrofoam on me in forever. And although

(07:41):
Jody thought it was coincidental that there was a lightning
storm going on at the same time, why, I mean, look,
I guess that that actually could have.

Speaker 4 (07:49):
Changed the electric charge in the air. Yeah, it definitely
could have created a different outside. I think that's definitely
a thing. What's going on here? What's going on?

Speaker 1 (07:58):
I mean I had to go google it, and it's
like Bill, you know Bill Neither science guy kind of
stuff that I don't really I remember being taught in school,
but it doesn't stick in your head, like you know,
negative electrons and this, that and the other, and it's
you know, styrofoam is one of those things that doesn't
absorb or doesn't conduct electricity, and so because it doesn't
and if your hand or whatever is.

Speaker 2 (08:19):
Well, probably the wall too. Same. What probably happened is,
you know, the styrofoam cups are kept in a sleeve,
so when they pulled it off, you know a little
electricity right there, a little static, and they put it
on the table and then you did your magic.

Speaker 4 (08:34):
Yeah, okay, he did not do that.

Speaker 2 (08:37):
So did Jody's do that or just yours?

Speaker 1 (08:39):
It was just mine.

Speaker 3 (08:40):
I filled mine first, So I don't I feel like
that changes the composition of it, doesn't it. Mine was busy,
not being light. Mine was holding iced tea and his
was not.

Speaker 1 (08:51):
Yeah, yours was definitely heavier than mine. But so I
had fun with it for a minute.

Speaker 4 (08:58):
Oh yeah, we were waiting out the store, so he
played with it for a long time.

Speaker 2 (09:01):
I'd like to go.

Speaker 4 (09:04):
All right, coming up next to your Hollywood Outsider, Jody's
Hollywood Outsider.

Speaker 2 (09:09):
Brought to you by State Farm.

Speaker 3 (09:11):
HBO has announced that House of the Dragon has officially
begun filming season three in the UK.

Speaker 4 (09:18):
Once again. It will be eight episodes.

Speaker 3 (09:20):
No official premiere date yet, but production is starting up
now for a twenty twenty six debut for the upcomings.

Speaker 2 (09:26):
You ever watched season two?

Speaker 3 (09:27):
Did not?

Speaker 4 (09:27):
Don't know what's going on?

Speaker 3 (09:29):
I mean it's some one that you could always pick
up if you ever. Really it's beautiful, that's the thing
about it. It's crazy for you dragons. Yeah, the clothing
and the sets don't get me started. I moving on
to this show on Max that has really caught some
attention and some fans, The Pit.

Speaker 4 (09:47):
Welcome to the Pit, Let go save some lives.

Speaker 3 (09:49):
It's a fictional emergency room show starring Noah Wiley, who
we all used to know is doctor John Carter on
another fiction on Er.

Speaker 4 (10:00):
So here's what's up.

Speaker 3 (10:01):
The cast of The Pit visited a real emergency room
at Children's Hospital Los Angeles. Oh yeah, a lot of
the different departments came in. One of the doctors came
up to Noah and said, look, you're the reason your
character on Er was the reason I went to medical school.

Speaker 4 (10:20):
Isn't that cool?

Speaker 3 (10:20):
So Noah signed his and then they got some real
life visuals of what they're trying to convey in the show.
It is now streaming and it's super successful on Max.
I did look up surprising trends in baby names, since
you know your nephew asked me, you know, my opinion

(10:41):
on him naming his first child. I was like, I
don't have a say in that, you know. I thought
it was cute that they asked me, But so trends
in baby names. This is according to a professional baby namer's. Yes,
we've talked about it she's a professional baby name, or
she charges three hundred dollars for a session.

Speaker 4 (11:03):
Now she doesn't just sit down and go. She gets
to know you.

Speaker 3 (11:08):
She researches your family history, so she pulls names from
the family for you and combining them with you know,
I guess modern things and goes Here are some suggestions
as she comes up with a ton for a couple.

Speaker 4 (11:23):
Dollars.

Speaker 3 (11:23):
But you want to know the trends and baby names
right for boys, cool cowboy names are in maybe because
of like Yellowstone, I don't know, but names like Rhett
Wyatt Ace even, Yeah, that would be cool.

Speaker 4 (11:40):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (11:41):
A small trend in girl baby names. Things that are
considered romantic or feminine names like Eloise, Georgia, Vivian.

Speaker 2 (11:54):
Oh yeah, those are classic.

Speaker 3 (11:56):
Yeah, Margo, even Olivia is still on those lists. Up, Charlotte, Emma, Amelia,
classics considered romantic feminine names. They also say that this
the professional baby namer. She says that people will come
to her. Clients will come to her and say, we
want an Ivy League type name, and she has them

(12:18):
Harvard and.

Speaker 4 (12:20):
You know, she gives them.

Speaker 3 (12:21):
Or sometimes people will say they want a golf type name.
They're very specific about, you know, what they want, and
she does research based on that. Can you imagine She
used to be a nurse, by the way, so she
still has that to fall back on. But she makes
her living as a professional baby namer, And so couples
come to her and spend the money, and then they
go away. They walk away with a lot of really

(12:41):
good ideas, because sometimes the ideas just don't come to
you true.

Speaker 1 (12:45):
But you know, you could get a four year subscription
on chat GPT for that same three hundred bucks.
