Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to the second half of today's Murphy, Sam and
Jody podcast.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
Join us anytime eight seven seven three one zero four MSJ.

Speaker 3 (00:10):
You can call or text to that number.

Speaker 1 (00:13):
Sam, your mom is pretty popular here because of the
she's going to be the flower girl right in the
wedding this weekend.

Speaker 4 (00:18):
My niece's wedding, and she's the flower girl.

Speaker 1 (00:20):
And instead of flowers, they're using bubble guns. And so
the text we got here said, I heard Sam's mom
is going to be the flower girl with a bubble gun.
That's genius. It is such a great way to include
the grandma's at my wedding. I told my bride'smaids to
get a blue dress, nothing neon, just something they would
wear again, and the groomsmen wearing slack stressed shirts and
a tie.

Speaker 2 (00:39):
Us.

Speaker 1 (00:39):
You don't have to do it right. You can be
non traditional.

Speaker 2 (00:42):
Yeah, letting them wear what they want, which is really
nice and generous because most it's another thing. Anything really
goes with a wedding is just up to the couple.
So letting them pick a dress. You said your mom
picked out her own dress and ordered it.

Speaker 3 (00:57):
Yeah, so cool. I can't wait to see it. Did
she tell you about it.

Speaker 4 (01:01):
She probably did, but I was just like, yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:04):
It's a nice thing to admit on Mother's Day weekend.

Speaker 4 (01:06):
It's a dress. It's like, yeah, that's great, mom.

Speaker 2 (01:09):
Well, I'll call Judy later and ask her about her dress.
It is a cool thing to offer. One of my
favorite things to see at a wedding is when the
bridesmaids have similar well even the same color, but a
different style. The style that looks you know, because if
you're tall, short, you know your shape. You have certain
your body shape. There are certain dresses that look better

(01:30):
on certain body shapes, and so to let a brides
made pick one that's best for her body and style fantastic.

Speaker 5 (01:36):
All right.

Speaker 2 (01:36):
We also have this from Instagram Facebook comments. Kristen sith this.
I just want to say I love the show. I
listen to the podcast every single day. Well, thank you,
it's catching up and just listen to the podcast with
Taylor our oldest daughter.

Speaker 1 (01:50):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:51):
I have my masters in clinical mental health counseling and
absolutely love what I do. I wanted to add to
what Taylor said, every counselor needs a counselor in order
to keep ourselves mentally okay. After hearing multiple traumatic situations
over and over. We need our own safe place to
process things.

Speaker 4 (02:11):
You know.

Speaker 1 (02:11):
I always wondered how that works, because when you think
eight hours a day with session after session and somebody's
absorbing yeah, some pretty heavy stuff in some cases. Yes,
how do you go home with a clear head? And
I guess the thing is you just can't take it
all in. You have to you can't own that, right.

Speaker 2 (02:26):
Yeah, right, you have to be empathetic, but not let
it sink in. This is part of the process, I guess.
Thank you for the words, Kristen. We will pass them
on to her.

Speaker 1 (02:34):
Coming up next. Jody has three things to note today.

Speaker 4 (02:39):
Three things to know today, brought to you by State Fine.

Speaker 2 (02:42):
Number one, after one day at the papal conclave, well,
it ended with only black smoke floating above the Cysteine Chapel.
So the cardinals will be locked away and you know,
in secrecy as they should be, with no phones.

Speaker 4 (02:54):
They have apartments in everything, and they have places set
they're comfortable.

Speaker 2 (02:57):
They'll keep voting with up to four rounds daily. If
nobody is selected. After three days, they'll take a twenty
four hour break, twenty four hour break to think and
just take a break and of course white smoke and
bells will signal a new pope being selected. So today's
day two of the conclave.

Speaker 3 (03:14):
Number two.

Speaker 2 (03:15):
Tomorrow on Saturday, it's National Stamp Out Hunger Day.

Speaker 4 (03:21):
Oh, I got my paper bag in my mailbox.

Speaker 5 (03:23):
Good.

Speaker 2 (03:23):
It's the National Association of Letter Carriers. You can put
non parisable food items in a bag near your mailbox
tomorrow or near your door, and donations will be returned
to the local post office and then from there they'll
go to local food banks.

Speaker 4 (03:38):
My bag's already fullse excellent, ready to go.

Speaker 2 (03:41):
Go online to see you know if your post office
is participating.

Speaker 4 (03:45):
I also have a list of what they need to.

Speaker 3 (03:48):
It's the Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive.

Speaker 2 (03:49):
It's national and number three big changes coming to Netflix
getting a full screen makeover for the first time in
twelve years.

Speaker 3 (03:56):
They're going to have personalized badges for you.

Speaker 2 (03:58):
If you really liked shows, those are gonna pop up.
You know. If you're super into Bridgerton, you're gonna get
alerts about the new season. Their mobile app is even
getting an AI upgrade.

Speaker 3 (04:08):
You're in the note Three things to know today.

Speaker 2 (04:13):
You want to know the first place a burglar tries
to break into a home. You want to make some
guesses here.

Speaker 1 (04:18):
Guys, So I mean, I don't know they kick a
door open.

Speaker 3 (04:22):
Ah, well the first place.

Speaker 1 (04:24):
The first place once they're in the house.

Speaker 3 (04:26):
No, if you're if you're a burglar, you guys don't
have to.

Speaker 4 (04:29):
If I'm chasing THEO and I got to figure out how.

Speaker 2 (04:31):
To get in front of a home and you decide
you want to break in, I go.

Speaker 4 (04:35):
To the backyard because that's less visible.

Speaker 3 (04:38):
Smart.

Speaker 1 (04:39):
Yeah, open window? Are you checking for open doors? Maybe
you're probably probably checking for things that are open before
you start breaking things.

Speaker 5 (04:46):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (04:46):
International Association of Certified Home Inspector say the front door
is the top target.

Speaker 3 (04:52):
I can't believe it, but it's the top target.

Speaker 1 (04:54):
And because that's the quick in and out. Honestly. Sure,
Although you mean you're probably gonna have a ring door
camera or a nest camera.

Speaker 2 (05:01):
So much that used to happen in the past that
could not cannot happen.

Speaker 1 (05:05):
Maybe, I mean, there's some pretty brazen criminals who they
don't care if the cameras are around.

Speaker 2 (05:10):
You know, I know, I know it's crazy to me,
but they say the front door. First, front door is
what they would try first. Eighty percent of burglars burglars
robber robbers. The other thing is a back door is
a big because of the visibility going into a back
a backyard.

Speaker 4 (05:29):
We were robbed one time and they tried to get
in through the slide and glass door in the back,
but it had something in it to keep it locked.

Speaker 3 (05:36):
And did they smash it?

Speaker 4 (05:38):
No, they couldn't. I don't know why they went to
a window and smashed that instead.

Speaker 2 (05:42):
My uncle is a retired police officer and when we
moved into the house we first bought together Murphy and
it had the French doors in the back. He was like, no, no,
he didn't like that because people see in they're more
likely to want to get.

Speaker 1 (05:56):
It well, and French doors are easier to kick in
than other and other types of doors. He had seen that,
But so isn't there a difference? So burglary is if
somebody breaks in. Robbery is if you're the present and
it's taken from yourself. I don't know that you're unless
it's taken from you, you know, physical okay, But I
know that doesn't matter.

Speaker 3 (06:16):
Lay it out again, It matters to me.

Speaker 1 (06:18):
I thought a burglary was if somebody wasn't present, and
somebody wasn't physically, if somebody wasn't Dan, it's being taken
from you.

Speaker 4 (06:26):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (06:26):
I don't mean, and of all the true crime I
have watched, I could be wrong.

Speaker 1 (06:30):
I don't know. That's what my mom told me.

Speaker 3 (06:35):
I think she sounds legit to me. Anyway. What what
can you do though? The number one security system?

Speaker 2 (06:41):
I mean, it's use technology to keep your home safe,
make your home look occupied and lived in even if
you're away. Move valuables away from windows. That's one of
Murphy's big ones. And stop hiding spare keys outside.

Speaker 4 (06:54):
Oh yeah, especially under those rocks that aren't real.

Speaker 1 (07:00):
Jodie has another Hollywood Outsider. And next, Sam has music News.

Speaker 4 (07:03):
Yeah, we got a surprise duet you're not gonna want
to miss tonight on the ACM Awards.

Speaker 5 (07:10):
Sam's got music News brought to.

Speaker 3 (07:12):
You by T Mobile.

Speaker 4 (07:14):
The ACM Awards are tonight, and since they canceled the
CMT Awards, this is the only big country award show tonight.
Reba McIntyre is your host.

Speaker 3 (07:25):
Consider me, she's a good host.

Speaker 4 (07:28):
You can watch it on Amazon Prime or the Amazon
Music Twitch channel for tonight, They're going to open the
show with six different country acts that are going to
be performing a medley of different country ACM songs of
the year from the past six decades.

Speaker 3 (07:42):
That's cool.

Speaker 4 (07:42):
Oh wow, Clinton Black Dan and Shay Renona Judd a Rider,
Great Reba is going to be involved, LeAnn Rhymes and Sugarland.
So they're all gonna have this big old medley thing
to start the show and.

Speaker 3 (07:54):
Bring on Leanne Rhymes. She can do, Patsy Klin.

Speaker 1 (07:56):
That's what I was thinking she's gonna do. That's what
brought her her start.

Speaker 4 (07:59):
Right live performances. You got Landy Wilson, Eric Church, Blake
Shelton is performing the bar started asking. They also have
a couple of collaborations duets on the show, Jelly Roland Shoboozy.
They have a new song called Amen. They're gonna perform it.
And then one that came out just a few days ago.
I didn't know this one was coming. Rascal Flats and

(08:21):
the Backstreet Boys together doing a Rascal Flat song.

Speaker 1 (08:31):
So are they releasing that or have they already released it?

Speaker 4 (08:34):
It came out like three or four days ago. I
saw the video for it, and so they're gonna perform
that tonight.

Speaker 2 (08:38):
If you didn't know that that was a country song
already and you heard it, you would think, oh, great
boy band song because it works.

Speaker 4 (08:45):
Yeah, you're right, two boy bands doing it there. We
also have a big collaboration coming this Friday from Halsey
and Amy Lee from evan Essence. You know, Halsey has
said that Amy Lee she grew up loving Amy Lee
and evan Essence. And this is a song that's gonna
be featured in the Ballerina movie with Anna de armas
the new John Witch. And we spent off and I
got a little snippet of it I found online. Okay,

(09:15):
it sounds real evanescency.

Speaker 3 (09:17):
It does. I'm female assassiny.

Speaker 4 (09:19):
Yeah. It's called hand that Feeds. And there was a
rumor going around that Jeff Bezos he's getting married next
month in Venice, Italy. There's a rumor that he had
Lady Gaga and Elton John signed up to be his
musical entertainment.

Speaker 3 (09:32):
You can believe it.

Speaker 4 (09:33):
He's got the money for it, but representatives for both
the artists sayt M, that's not the case. We're not
doing that.

Speaker 1 (09:40):
Coming up next, Jody has another Hollywood Outsider.

Speaker 4 (09:44):
The latest Buns Jody's Hollywood Outsider, brought to you by
prim Team. Miss.

Speaker 2 (09:49):
If you have ever been impressed with or amazed by
the work of Stephen King, have we got a story
for you. There is a movie that was rumored to
be in development for years, and when I say that,
I mean decades.

Speaker 3 (10:01):
It's called The Long Walk.

Speaker 2 (10:03):
It's a Stephen King story that he wrote under his
whatever pseudonym, pseudonym Richard Bachman. I did not know that
you read this book. This book was written in nineteen
seventy nine. Now the movie's been made now Mark Hamill
stars is a very not nice guy.

Speaker 3 (10:21):
It's called The Long Walk.

Speaker 5 (10:22):
I'm not going to go through the whole rule book,
but it boils down to this. If you fall below
the speed of three miles per hour, you get your ticket.
Walk until there's only one of you left.

Speaker 2 (10:39):
The Long Walk is a competition with fifty teenage boys
walking without rest.

Speaker 3 (10:44):
And yes, you have to go.

Speaker 4 (10:46):
By the way three miles an hour. I'll sld you
get your ticket.

Speaker 2 (10:48):
That means it's over for you, completely eliminated. It looks terrifying,
per you know, per all Stephen King's works.

Speaker 4 (10:56):
Imagine reading that as a teenager go walk?

Speaker 3 (10:59):
You did?

Speaker 4 (11:00):
Yes?

Speaker 3 (11:00):
Okay, you want to see this movie.

Speaker 2 (11:01):
It's going to be end theaters September twelfth. It's called
The Long Walk and the trailer is available now. Follow
us on Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube. I've been inviting you
to show your appreciation and shout out nurses or teachers
because it's National Nurses Week and Teacher Appreciation Week as well,

(11:22):
all coming together at the same time.

Speaker 1 (11:24):
Well, Mother's Day.

Speaker 2 (11:25):
Right, Mother's Day on the way too, but Brooke sent
this into our Facebook page. Hi.

Speaker 3 (11:29):
I listen to you guys every day getting ready for work.

Speaker 2 (11:32):
This week is also National Correctional Officer Week. Yes, I've
been working at the jail now for twenty one years.
I love my job and love the other officers and
some of the inmates are okayl have a great rest
of your day.

Speaker 3 (11:49):
Cool every one years as a correctional officer.

Speaker 4 (11:52):
You know what I have to say about that is
And maybe it's Brooke, maybe it's somebody else, but it
seems like every year when we talk about nurses and teachers,
somebody lets us know that's Correctional Officer Week.

Speaker 3 (12:02):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (12:02):
So yeah, it's like some of them need to be separated.
There are plenty of weeks, but thank you for shouting
it out because we want to say thank you for that.
Not everybody can do that kind of work. Karen said this.
I also it's also National Correctional Officers Week. These guys
are underappreciated. Proud of my husband and his coworkers.

Speaker 1 (12:20):
There you go, that's a second vote for that out.
We'll make sure that that's on the list for the
rest of the week.

Speaker 4 (12:25):
Then, yeah, you got to comment here from Amanda, and
it's about makeup, Jody, about changing up or discontinuing makeup brands.

Speaker 2 (12:33):
It's just just a frustration in cosmetics world.

Speaker 4 (12:36):
Yeah, well, Amanda says, it's not just makeup. Your favorite
perfume is discontinued. Oh, or how about us curly hair girls.
I solely relied on a hair product they stopped making.
My hair has never been the same since.

Speaker 2 (12:50):
It's just a frustration, and you guys don't feel it anywhere.
There's not a product, there's not an industry that you
guys are so reliant on that's so personal to you
that it gets taken away. I don't I just don't
see it happening to people who don't wear or use
cosmetics as much as I.

Speaker 1 (13:06):
Mean, I would have to think that through. I'm sure
were the years there have been shampoos or there have
been sense of different things that you know have changed
that I like, Yeah.

Speaker 4 (13:13):
Yeah, are some food product that they no longer make that.

Speaker 3 (13:16):
You got it?

Speaker 2 (13:17):
You know, Oh that's true, that's true. But it makes
you once you find something that you love. Like for me,
that foundation that I'm chasing now, I'm chasing it down
because they they change not only the color the shades,
but they change the formula. So what I bought feels different.
You know, it's weird, Like stop messing with the stuff.

Speaker 3 (13:37):
But thank you for that. We love having you along.
