Speaker 1 (00:02):
I don't know what I'm more nervous about, Jodie, the
fact that our daughter is you know, foot surgery is
this week or the Christmas is almost here.
Speaker 2 (00:08):
Both definitely foot surgery. I'm not afraid of Christmas. I'm
not afraid of the foot surgery either. It's tomorrow. But
she's so ready for it, mister Sam. She's crossing off
her list, and every day she's like one more you know,
two more days, one more day. Yeah, this is phoebe well.
Speaker 1 (00:23):
And everybody that we've you know, talked to, they're like,
you're doing this right before Christmas?
Speaker 3 (00:27):
Wow, during the holidays really time?
Speaker 1 (00:30):
You know, that makes sense where she doesn't have to
be on her foot and there's not going to miss
a lot of school.
Speaker 2 (00:33):
When she goes back to school, she will be on crutches.
And that really worries me. What for what reason do
you think leaving them at home?
Speaker 3 (00:40):
No backpack?
Speaker 2 (00:41):
Oh you know, backpack, crutches, heavy doors. And I know
she's got a lot of friends whoill halp her, but
it's going to be crazy. But she won't be the
only kid to have ever done it either, you know,
I mean, so we'll see. I want her to get
used to the crutches and savvy with them, if you will.
While she's home, maybe we could find her a caddy. Yeah,
I'd do it. So anyway, that's tomorrow morning. Yeah, first
(01:06):
thing tomorrow, Absolutely, first thing.
Speaker 4 (01:08):
You know.
Speaker 2 (01:08):
She can't eat anything past eleven PM tonight for her.
Speaker 1 (01:10):
There's not gonna be a problem though she doesn't she's
not a big eater anyway, but she definitely didn't eat
that late at night and she'll be good for the morning.
Speaker 5 (01:17):
Sam always fines.
Speaker 6 (01:18):
Then you eat Geez the burger King in Miami. There's
a burger King in Miami that the day after Christmas,
if you don't like your Christmas gift, they're going to
let you come traded in for a whopper.
Speaker 2 (01:29):
That's brilliant.
Speaker 6 (01:30):
The funny thing is it's in There's only this one
restaurant in Miami doing it, so obviously chances are slim
that you'll be doing it. But they said also the
day after Christmas, if you get on and you tweet
her Instagram hashtag whopper exchange, then they'll Burger King will
email you or mail you a gift certificate for a
free and all the gifts that they are getting in
exchange for whoppers they're turning over to charity. Nice, so
(01:52):
good news there. That's cool. If you happened to get
an Amazon Echo over the holidays and you would like
to order food on Itte's Hut is teamed up with
Amazon now so you can order Pizza Hut pizzas you say,
Alexa Pizza Hut and right now the menu is limited though,
it's only like five pizzas, breadsticks, and a couple of drinks,
so you'll.
Speaker 2 (02:11):
Have Amazon would then send the order to your the
Pizza Hut closest to you, right, is that right?
Speaker 6 (02:15):
And it'll be charged to your Amazon account and the
pizza will show up. This is the stuff you gotta
worry about with. It's like Parker running around Amazon Pizza.
Speaker 3 (02:24):
Now, right, you don't even know about it?
Speaker 1 (02:26):
Well, and just make sure you're at one click settings.
I'm gonna find out how to do this the right way,
but that's what it is. There's obviously a way to
keep it from being automatic.
Speaker 5 (02:34):
Show me up with Murphy Salmon. Jody Murphy did it.
Speaker 2 (02:36):
He got into the yard and he went all Clark Griswold.
I thought he was sweating, but it sure is pretty
coming up.
Speaker 3 (02:43):
Jody's got your Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 2 (02:44):
Next, Ye, Mark Anthony is officially single again. Look out,
j Lo. Slay you about that?
Speaker 6 (02:48):
Next?
Speaker 3 (02:51):
You can use the holidays and some ketchup time.
Speaker 1 (02:53):
So Murphy, Sam and Jody ketchup time when you subscribe
to the podcast iTunes mess You know what, Maybe you
didn't you get to hear Sanna over the last month
and yeah, and that's something you want to do on
Christmas Eve with the kids.
Speaker 5 (03:05):
Judy's Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 2 (03:07):
When this news broke yesterday, I thought, how sad, even
though we knew it was coming. How sad for this
to be announced and finalized right before Christmas? Mark Anthony
officially divorced now.
Speaker 3 (03:20):
The former mister j Lo.
Speaker 6 (03:21):
Yeah, we knew it was coming.
Speaker 2 (03:23):
I knew it was coming, but right before Christmas. I mean,
I wonder if, and I'm assuming that he and Jennifer
Lopez will spend some time together over the holidays, because hello,
they have children, although he has other children too from
other marriages.
Speaker 3 (03:36):
Oh, I really know that, Yes, he certainly does.
Speaker 4 (03:38):
So.
Speaker 2 (03:38):
He ended his two year marriage to Shannon Delima, the
Venezuelan model. She does not look like Jennifer Lopez, but
she's a pretty thing. They were married for two years.
He did marry her pretty quickly after divorcing Jennifer Lopez.
Speaker 6 (03:52):
So so now they're both free.
Speaker 2 (03:54):
Now they're both free.
Speaker 6 (03:55):
He's free and Jo's free.
Speaker 2 (03:56):
I told you though, maybe later in life I could
see them together because they always been. They've always been
really kind to one another, and she has even said
Jennifer Lopez, he's the father of my children. He always
will be, so he'll always be in my life. And
they're working together right now. But I do not see
her going backwards in romantic life. I see her only
going forward, usually with younger men.
Speaker 3 (04:18):
That's what I see.
Speaker 2 (04:19):
So we'll see.
Speaker 3 (04:20):
Jony's predictions for twenty seventeen. Yeah, I love this.
Speaker 2 (04:22):
She's one of my favorites. So I do have kind
of an opinion at least. All right, coming up soon
in January on Netflix, you guys want the big ones,
the big movies for new stuff new, well, not for
Netflix new for Netflix. It makes me think of October.
But the Shining you want to watch that?
Speaker 3 (04:41):
Yeah, let me come in scaring my soft for the
new year.
Speaker 2 (04:45):
Nobody says that has to be October only. We've also
got here's a scary one, Brave Heart.
Speaker 7 (04:50):
Money from Now would you have been Willie.
Speaker 6 (04:54):
The Train all the days from this day?
Speaker 2 (04:56):
To say Mel Gibson's finest hour.
Speaker 6 (04:58):
Brave Heart was an awesome movie. Yes, I just can't
watch it anymore, certainly not the end. Yeah, and that's
because that's where I know where it's going. So I
just I just don't want to invest it.
Speaker 2 (05:08):
Okay, So that one's on Netflix in Jasu Mary also
one for the whole family, one of the most classic
family movies of all time. Et introduced that with your
kids that they've never seen it before up to date,
Shooty's Hollywood Outsider. I'd say, we want you to come
over and see the house, at least the outside. Murphy
(05:30):
went all Clark Griswold on the front yard and it's
so pretty.
Speaker 3 (05:33):
Partial Clark Griswold.
Speaker 2 (05:35):
Okay, Murphy was busting us sweat out in the yard
for two hours yesterday.
Speaker 3 (05:43):
I know you're finding that hard to believe. How in
the world did I managed to bust a sweat working
out as well?
Speaker 2 (05:48):
All of that putting lights in the trees like he
did the lights two weeks It was it two weeks ago?
You did them two weeks ago, the main pretty Christmas things.
But he had it in his mind he wanted to
do the trees. Two little trees. That's hard work, and
I didn't realize it until I saw him bust. You
were busting a sweat.
Speaker 3 (06:04):
Well, I should make this clear.
Speaker 1 (06:05):
I probably shouldn't have been busting a sweat for the
little trees that they are, because they're a little They're
just crape myrtles on either side, right. I mean, there's
some people in a neighbor who really do some incredible work,
and some large trees out there with poles and they
string a light. So I mean, what I'm doing is
just simple stuff to you know, a little accent lights.
But I'd save the trees for last, just because I
don't know, they're kind of thick, they're kind of prickly.
(06:26):
It's tough to get lights in there, you know, they
get hung up. It's not the easiest thing in the world.
But it's only like two one hundred string count lights.
It's not like I'm putting hundreds of lights in the.
Speaker 2 (06:37):
Well. Then a little light goes a long way because
it looks gorgeous, and I was worried, you know, because
it's so prickly that you would kind of do half
of it and go, no, no, I'm out.
Speaker 6 (06:46):
So you were like, what, you know, weave them up
in there or do you wrap them around.
Speaker 3 (06:50):
A little bit of both.
Speaker 1 (06:51):
But you know, I was concerned because I wasn't going
all the way to the top with them. And I'm like,
I've seen plenty of people only do the halfway up.
It's's kind of a you know, at nighttime, when you
can't see the whole tree, it still looks good. So
that's what I did. It's about about three quarters of
the way up each tree. Yeah, in a very loose
you know, wrap all the way around. It's not elaborate.
Speaker 2 (07:08):
The coolest thing though too. I love the trees and
it just finishes it out. You need to pass by
our house one night, Well come in if you I mean,
come over, if you want your sands.
Speaker 3 (07:15):
What I'm saying, thanks coming.
Speaker 2 (07:17):
But what I'm saying is he took the you took
the laser light thing, star shower thing. He put it
on the side of the yard and it's like facing
the kitchen window, so all around the kitchen window. Is
that pretty those pretty lights. But they also come in
so if you have the lights off inside, we have
like a little shower of red and green in the kitchen.
Speaker 1 (07:37):
It's really it's not gonna blind anybody. It's not like
it your eye. It's really really So you do think
that that looks good because to me, it's just kind
of I don't know, it's kind of up there.
Speaker 3 (07:47):
It's kind of like I just stuck it in the
ground and it's there.
Speaker 2 (07:49):
And he moved into this house. This is my favorite
year because it's perfect. Really, it's complete, like across the yard.
But it's understated.
Speaker 3 (07:58):
You know, you're not missing the candy Kanes I used
to put out on that little No.
Speaker 2 (08:03):
Really, no ganes, go big or go home with me?
Speaker 3 (08:06):
Now.
Speaker 2 (08:07):
I love what we do. In fact, please document it.
We love this this year.
Speaker 3 (08:11):
Okay, good Lark. I feel really good about it. Now
you did us proud Clark.
Speaker 5 (08:15):
Can you give us a call? Eight seven, seven three
one oh four six seven times.
Speaker 2 (08:20):
It's been all about the Christmas music lately, So more
of your favorite Christmas songs? Which ones you look forward
to every single year? Eight seven seven three one oh
for Ms j jan your next, We love having you along.
Joined the show anytime at eight seven seven three one
oh for m s J. Favorite Christmas movies, favorite Christmas songs?
(08:41):
What really gets to you? Jan? Do you have one?
Speaker 6 (08:45):
Yes? I do.
Speaker 8 (08:46):
My favorite Christmas song is I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas.
Speaker 2 (08:49):
Yay, I love it. Yeah, it's much fun, right it is.
Speaker 4 (08:56):
It's just a fun song, you know.
Speaker 3 (08:59):
I remember one in a good mood.
Speaker 6 (09:01):
I don't remember hearing that at all when I was
a kid.
Speaker 2 (09:05):
I don't remember. No, I don't remember from a childhood.
I know it from everybody calling us every year to
say how much they love it.
Speaker 6 (09:12):
The goofy songs when I was a kid were the
Chipmunk Song, and that Snoopy and the Red Baron, you know,
the Christmas songs, but not the pot see Sam.
Speaker 1 (09:21):
When I was in elementary school, they did. They played
that little they had the forty five. They would put
on this little bitty record player Christmas plays and so forth,
and so all of it for Christmas is my two
front teeth.
Speaker 6 (09:30):
I remember that.
Speaker 1 (09:30):
All I want to I Want Hippopotamus for Christmas were
the two that were. They would play.
Speaker 2 (09:35):
So much fun, Jan, I want a.
Speaker 3 (09:38):
Hip Loottamus for Gristmas.
Speaker 9 (09:43):
Hip bottom must we do don't.
Speaker 1 (09:47):
How is it that there were so many of those
young female voices from that time that all sounded the same.
Speaker 2 (09:51):
Yeah, at the studio track.
Speaker 1 (09:54):
If you slowed that down, it would sound like Brenda
Lee singing rocking around the Christmas tree possibly.
Speaker 2 (09:58):
You know sound and the song, the whole sentiment of
the song is made to capture a child's imagination. Yeah,
it's all the childlike things. Four children. I love those
children Christmas songs. Okay, maybe more so when you're not
in the mood for a serious one, Sam, I mean,
I would think you'd be down with that.
Speaker 6 (10:15):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (10:16):
The hippopotamus one, I know what to send you and
play for you.
Speaker 3 (10:19):
And thank you. That's sweet and happy.
Speaker 2 (10:22):
Coming up next with Murphy Sam and Joby can whether
you want a hippopotamus for Christmas or a puppy or
a cat? What to consider mom's, dad's grandparents, Santa before
getting a family pet for Christmas? Coming up next, and
I'll have that.
Speaker 1 (10:38):
This is something Jody adds to a list of holiday
reminders every year because it's really important and around maybe
your holidays. The whole thing about pets and even Santa
gives us the same morning. You really have to put
some thought into it.
Speaker 2 (10:50):
What you need to think about before making a pet
a part of your Christmas wish list for the kids
or whatever. If the kids are asking, is Christmas time
a good time to get a pet? And you know,
I'm all for pet, I'm all for a adoption. I'm
all for adoption and giving a pet who needs a home,
a loving home. You will never have anything love you
(11:11):
more than an animal you've rescue.
Speaker 3 (11:12):
You just have to have a home that's ready for it.
Speaker 2 (11:14):
Right. Well, there are three things to consider. Number one
and the biggest. Do you realize that it's a commitment?
Speaker 3 (11:20):
Are you in?
Speaker 2 (11:21):
Are you in for fifteen years? Because that's what you
need to realize. Whether it happened, you know, whether this
animal lives that long or not. You need to make
the commitment in your heart and mind that it's a
fifteen year commitment. And that also means VET bills and
pet food and all of that, and you know whatever
training comes in to play. And I'm not trying to
(11:42):
it's just things to think about. But the commitment is
the number one. It's not just oh, this will be
so much fun on Christmas morning, because Christmas is Also,
they say some pet advocates will say it's not a
good time to bring a new pet in because there's
so much going on that's not normal. It's not a
normal calm day.
Speaker 3 (11:59):
Well at day around paper and tensils.
Speaker 2 (12:02):
And some relatives, a lot of different feet coming in
and out. But you know your family may be different.
The other thing is is the whole family in if
there are four or five of you, is everybody on
board with this or is some one person not happy
about it? That's not good because it's going to cause
problem in the fact.
Speaker 3 (12:19):
If it's a surprise, there's no way to really know that.
Speaker 2 (12:21):
Dad's not on board, and you need to know that
ahead of time, right, it's not a good idea if
everybody's not all in. And the third one is hauh.
This is any time you get a pet, whether it's
in July or now, there's ramp up time with an animal.
They may not behave the way they're going to behave
in the first couple of weeks. There may be accidents.
Very likely will be accidents.
Speaker 3 (12:41):
Right out of the box, especially if they're a puppy.
Speaker 2 (12:43):
Oh yeah, if they're young, especially that there's going to
be training and the other thing is that, you know,
we've had so many foster dogs over the years. I
don't even let it worry me anymore when they don't
eat for the first day or two because they're in
a new environment and they're freaked out and they don't
care about it, and then they get into a routine.
So just know that there's ramp up time for them.
Speaker 3 (13:03):
Yeah, they've got to get comfortable with the family too, right,
So lots to know.
Speaker 2 (13:06):
Go online to find out more if you want to
have a link for recommendations of what to do and
what not to do if you're getting a pet for
Christmas Murphysamonjody dot Com.
Speaker 7 (13:15):
Next, Jody's Got the Hollywood Outsider and what role.
Speaker 2 (13:18):
Matthew McConaughey says he will be happy to reprise and
you'd be probably happy too.
Speaker 10 (13:22):
That's next Jody's Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 2 (13:27):
Mister Matthew McConaughey says he is in for True Detective
season three.
Speaker 6 (13:33):
Oh my gosh, Well need that because didn't season two
kind of bomb?
Speaker 3 (13:37):
It sort of did, but I disappeared.
Speaker 2 (13:38):
I was so hopeful for it that I watched season
two and I hung in past where I didn't even
understand what was going on. Season one was Matthew McConaughey
and Woody Harrelson and it was so crazy good and
scary and it kept you from episode to episode that
you could it was a limited series, like it's just like, right,
what eight or ten episodes or something like that.
Speaker 6 (14:00):
Very twisted too.
Speaker 2 (14:02):
Yeah, I mean it's serious, he's hunting serial killers. But
the second season was completely different. Detectives in a different
part of the country in California.
Speaker 6 (14:11):
Names too. Vince Vaughan was in the second season.
Speaker 2 (14:13):
Rachel McAdams, Colin Firth, Coan Ferrell said it wrong, mister Darcy,
and it was hard to follow. I stuck with it.
I thought it was good. But then after that, even
to talk about it is strange. But Matthew McConaughey's performance
in the first True Detective as Rust was so crazy
good and he loved doing it.
Speaker 6 (14:35):
Till death created time to grow the themes that it
would kill I remember, yeah, and you are we born okay,
you know, just built on the weird Matthew McConaughey, Aura, just.
Speaker 2 (14:48):
That he's talking about something that you you're trying to
you're trying to be pulled into anyway. He said he
originally was he tried out for the role of Marty.
He originally auditioned to be the the Woody Harrelson character.
Then he was looking at rust in the script and
he was like, I identify with this guy. I want
to do this one. So if the script were good
enough for season three and they wanted to bring back him,
(15:09):
he would do it. So you know, HBO is on
that because everybody loved it. I want to take you
to California from yesterday. Alan Thicck's memorial service was at
his home in California, and it was like a Growing
Pains reunion, three hundred guests. Leonardo DiCaprio was one of them.
(15:33):
Why because if you remember Leonardo DiCaprio had a cameo,
well he had a role in Growing Pains. He was
like a friend and the family brought up all episodes.
Well he was going to I think a couple don't
quote me on that. Tracy Gold was there, Kirk Cameron,
of course, Bob Saggot, even Alex Trevak, Rob Low was there.
And it was more like a celebration of his life
and a party. Everybody stood up and told stories and
(15:55):
then Robin Thick, his son got up and said, you know,
told a few jokes about his dad, and he he
said he also felt like it was exactly the way
he would have wanted to be remembered. Alan Thick, he.
Speaker 6 (16:05):
Didn't sing a Marvin Gay song.
Speaker 2 (16:07):
Huh huh, wordes, he didn't sing. Coming up in your
next Hollywood Outsider at seven fifty five, we'll get you
ready for the new movies opening this week, A couple
of big ones up to date, with Shony's Hollywood Outside
coming up next. Though. The Christmas movie Murphy and I
tried to watch and we didn't last twenty minutes.
Speaker 1 (16:25):
Such an exciting week, Christmas will wrap it. I can't
believe that. Actually, you know, I'm thinking about it, just
like again, you blink.
Speaker 2 (16:32):
There's so much you know ahead of time, and then
it's here, and then there's the oh, it's over, that's
coming there.
Speaker 6 (16:39):
I like this year. It's like giving everybody a four
day weekend. It is worth three and a half.
Speaker 2 (16:43):
I like that it's on Sunday this year. You guys
like that. It just feels right, something nice about that.
Speaker 3 (16:48):
Yeah, especially since we have Monday off.
Speaker 1 (16:49):
Yes, Yeah, And I feel pretty good about things. You know,
I mean in Santo's list is now you know covered
I've given him everything that you know I asked for anyway,
and you have. I actually have Jodie's gift, and there
are few other little random gifts that I have not
finished yet. But you know, I think I'm pacing it.
Speaker 2 (17:08):
Wait till Saturday night.
Speaker 1 (17:09):
Huh yeah yeah, Okay, wait little the crowds die down,
find some good savings that way.
Speaker 2 (17:13):
I tell you what we did do last night with
the girls. We finally sat down and said, okay, we're
watching a Christmas movie this year, and we're watching a
new one this year. So pick I highly suggested my
favorite all time Christmas.
Speaker 3 (17:25):
We'll get to that.
Speaker 2 (17:26):
They wanted to try something new, so that we tried
Christmas with the cranks.
Speaker 4 (17:30):
Look how far you've gone, I mean turning our lawn
into an ice rink. I mean somebody could have broken
their leg or their neck.
Speaker 5 (17:37):
I mean you could have put one of those krollers
in the hospital.
Speaker 2 (17:39):
Okay, this is Tim Allen and Jamie Lee Curtis and
dan Aykroyd. We gave it a good solid twenty minutes
before I hit the pause button and I said seriously,
we haven't laughed yet, Like.
Speaker 3 (17:50):
I don't I don't get it.
Speaker 2 (17:51):
I couldn't get into it.
Speaker 6 (17:53):
Well, I've never tried that one.
Speaker 1 (17:54):
Maybe it's one of those where we need to just
give it another shot. At some point, we were all
just kind of like, yeah, twenty three minutes, it was
just kind of weird.
Speaker 3 (18:01):
If you don't make me laugh.
Speaker 2 (18:03):
Yeah, at least in the first ten minutes or something,
it just didn't do anything for us. So I said, please, girls,
I think you will love one of my favorite Christmas
movies of all time, Bill Murray and Scrooged.
Speaker 5 (18:14):
It's Christmas Eve.
Speaker 7 (18:15):
It's one night of the year when we all act
a little nicer.
Speaker 3 (18:19):
We for a couple of hours out.
Speaker 7 (18:21):
Of the whole year. We are the people that we
always hoped we would be.
Speaker 2 (18:25):
And they are girls. They were chuckling in the first
three minutes. That's good, you know what I mean. Now,
And it's rated PG thirteen.
Speaker 1 (18:34):
Yeah, I mean, it's got a few things that it's
probably not really good for younger kids, but it's nineteen
eighty eight. It's like that in nineteen even some of
the jokes and some things because it's timely jokes.
Speaker 3 (18:43):
Yeah, don't make sense today or you have to explain right.
Speaker 2 (18:46):
Yeah, I enjoyed seeing it again. It is one of
my very favorites, and they they enjoyed it. So it's
on Netflix by Bernie.
Speaker 3 (18:54):
Oh well, that'll be during the holidays, actually on vacation.
Speaker 5 (18:57):
Yes, after gotcha gumming up with Murphy, Sam and Jody.
Speaker 2 (19:01):
Murphy did this gift thing for his family over the
weekend that we already did that get together, and he
won Christmas with.
Speaker 3 (19:07):
It just happened to work out, he so did.
Speaker 2 (19:12):
Coming up next, though, Jill has a Christmas movie she
wants to get in before the holiday is here. Eight
seven seven three one oh. For MSJ.
Speaker 1 (19:21):
Kary, we're just trying to put together a fun list
of Christmas movies shows whatever, you know. Sometimes they're classics,
sometimes they're like just your own little tradition. We'd love
to hear from you. Eight seven seven three one oh
For MSJ. I guess Jody and I officially put Scrooge
to the portfolio this time. Christmas with the Cranks is
going to have to get another try.
Speaker 2 (19:38):
I don't I just don't know, but I have always
loved Scrooge since nineteen eighty eight. A told Taylor are
teenager who loves the movie groundhog Day. I said, I
think he probably got groundhog Day because of the way
he because of Scrooge, Right, it was just that fantasy
holiday thing.
Speaker 3 (19:54):
Oh yeah, so great, Jill. Do you have one?
Speaker 4 (19:57):
I do.
Speaker 2 (19:58):
It's a wonderful life, classic classic.
Speaker 3 (20:02):
Yeah, probably the top of the one.
Speaker 4 (20:03):
Of our all time favorite. It's the greatest movie. I mean,
it's it's very family oriented and it teaches you a lot.
Speaker 2 (20:12):
Yeah. Do you guys watch it every year? Like, do
you have a ritual with it?
Speaker 5 (20:15):
Or?
Speaker 4 (20:16):
Oh? As much as we can. Yeah, it's just a
heartfelt movie and you know, the true meaning of Christmas,
the true meaning of life.
Speaker 2 (20:23):
And aren't we all hopeful that they don't ever try
to remake it?
Speaker 4 (20:28):
I have to agree, you can't remake something.
Speaker 1 (20:30):
Like that, that's true. Has anybody tried to remake it?
I know Miracle on thirty fourth Street was, But has
anybody tried to remake It's a Wonderful Life?
Speaker 3 (20:38):
Not that I know of.
Speaker 2 (20:38):
That's why I'm saying I think that it's safe. I
think nobody wants to touch it.
Speaker 6 (20:43):
Yeah, you would be dumb to even try.
Speaker 2 (20:45):
That, I know. But then again, Hollywood does it all
the time, don't they. They try to reduce stuff all
the time.
Speaker 1 (20:50):
I mean, look, at some point it's been like, that's
seventy five years ago or whatever, it's been seventy years
since that movie came out. Somebody, at some point we'll
try to put a current twist.
Speaker 8 (20:58):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (20:59):
I guess one of the reasons we haven't watched it
with the kids is because our kids expect ELF and
Christmas vacation. They expect to be laughing.
Speaker 1 (21:07):
And I think at fifteen eleven, they're probably old enough
how to appreciate the meaning of that.
Speaker 2 (21:10):
They are old enough to appreciate the meaning, but they're
not gonna want to do it. I'm telling you, I
don't want Buddy the Elf, I know it or Clark.
I'm down with that anyway. Thank you, Jill, You're right
eight seven seven three one oh four msj We love
hearing from you. Coming up next with Murphy, Sam and Jody,
Murphy did something so super special for his entire family.
(21:33):
I mean, you just won Christmas with this. Murphy did
something for his entire family. This Christmas was very unplanned
and he just did it last minute, and it was
the greatest thing. One of the greatest things you can
do for your family if you have access to this,
no pressure, Murph, tell them about it.
Speaker 3 (21:49):
Yeah, thanks, Jerry. Now it's this is my side.
Speaker 1 (21:53):
When I say my side of the family, my father's
father's side of the family.
Speaker 3 (21:57):
Grandfather, you know that part a bunch of cousins.
Speaker 1 (22:00):
Yeah, and this is a part of the family that
really hasn't gotten together as one big group in a
very long time.
Speaker 3 (22:05):
You know.
Speaker 1 (22:05):
There have been divorces and other things like that, things
that just happened to families over time, all normal, and
this get together was one of the best things that
honestly probably has happened to me in the last fifteen
or twenty years, because this was the core group of
family that got together when I was a kid. But
knowing that everybody was coming together, one of the things
my dad did, which I recommend this for anybody in
(22:27):
the digital age. You're already taking digital pictures, but if
you have parents that have films or VHS's or other
things you want to get transferred to digital, do it.
Don't put it off, because it's so worth it's worth sharing.
And so I just took a snapshot in time from
the family from when they were kids, when my parents
were kids, from the sixties to the seventies, and when
all of us were born this generation. And it's all silent.
(22:49):
You want to hear it.
Speaker 2 (22:50):
Ah, everybody who was in the room either their parents
were on this film or they were on that film
from their childhood. And he was instead of you know
when people would shoot film years ago, you'd have long bloring. Yeah,
Murphy took all that out. It's literally action to action
to action. It was about thirty minutes long, and it
(23:11):
was fabulous to watch. It was like going back in time.
I was captivated.
Speaker 1 (23:17):
Yeah, I mean it ended literally when I was seven
years old. That's how you know what a smart A
short snapshot it was.
Speaker 6 (23:22):
Did you have some music oho track?
Speaker 5 (23:24):
No?
Speaker 1 (23:24):
And the reason I didn't want to add music to it.
I thought about that is it would be distracting. They
lived this, they remember, you know, when they see the footage,
it takes them back. I thought the music would be
a distraction. The funny thing is needed to be a conversation.
Speaker 2 (23:36):
Christmas music was playing in the room for the whole party,
So Christmas music played while we watched it together, which
was actually perfect. It was so lovely.
Speaker 3 (23:45):
It was so long, but it was funn you know.
Speaker 1 (23:47):
I mean, I just did that for them so that
they could reconnect as family members who hadn't seen each
other along.
Speaker 2 (23:51):
You can do that sort of thing for your family.
Put together old film. Is it film? I'm saying it
right together digitally for them, even for a small a
little snapshot. Priceless, priceless.
Speaker 6 (24:01):
You did win Christmas?
Speaker 2 (24:02):
He did. I'm telling you.
Speaker 5 (24:05):
Yeah. Sam has music news.
Speaker 6 (24:07):
Yeah, Joe, do you like this when Lady gut Guy
is going to Vegas?
Speaker 3 (24:10):
But you're gonna have You're gonna stay in Vegas.
Speaker 6 (24:11):
You're gonna have to empty the bank account to afford
a ticket.
Speaker 5 (24:14):
Of course, Sam's gotten music news.
Speaker 6 (24:19):
Judy, you will be happy to know that Lady g
Guy is going to Vegas.
Speaker 5 (24:22):
There wasn't.
Speaker 6 (24:26):
What she's doing this jazz stuff? Oh really, now here's
the deal. It's not a residency. She's doing this December
thirtieth at the Win Hotel. Okay, one concert only it's
all gonna be jazz stuff. It's gonna be jazz standards.
Plus her combo is gonna play her hits in a
jazz style.
Speaker 2 (24:43):
Okay, Oh like what game? And poker face.
Speaker 6 (24:47):
Yeah, Oh my gosh, who knows who might join her
on stage?
Speaker 3 (24:50):
We don't know, of course, mister Bennett.
Speaker 6 (24:52):
Tickets are a thousand bucks for the cheap seats and
a fifteen hundred for the good seats.
Speaker 2 (24:56):
Of course, of course you.
Speaker 6 (24:57):
Got to get to Vegas first of all.
Speaker 2 (24:59):
I'll just get it on digital download one day.
Speaker 6 (25:01):
Speaking of mister Bennett, he is on TV Tonight.
Speaker 3 (25:04):
R ninetieth birthday party.
Speaker 6 (25:07):
That's right, This is the one that was recorded back
in August or September, and it's got Billy Joel, Lady
Gaga will be there, Michael Boublay, Elton, John Stevie Wonder,
Alec Baldwin is gonna be the host. Oh and really,
I've already seen a clip of it. He comes out
dressed like Tony Bennett with the big rubber nose on
and the hair, and he talks to him and then
they talk back, and so it said being funny on
(25:29):
NBC Tonight.
Speaker 2 (25:30):
Nice.
Speaker 3 (25:31):
Thank you for that.
Speaker 6 (25:32):
Also, there is a Tina Turner bio musical in the
works now.
Speaker 3 (25:40):
Broadway.
Speaker 2 (25:41):
Her biopick could not have been any better back in
the nineties.
Speaker 6 (25:44):
What's Love Got to Do with It? From ninety three
was the bio pick Uh. They're working on a bio
musical where it's gonna have all her m It's the
same people that put together Mama Mia, which was kind
of based on all the album music. Yeah, there was
a story, but it was based on the album music.
And so they're putting it and she's involved in it too.
Speaker 3 (25:58):
Oh that's good, and.
Speaker 6 (25:59):
We're gonna start it over in England.
Speaker 3 (26:01):
I have to see this work the.
Speaker 6 (26:02):
Kinks out there, and she says she's been pushing to
do something like this for a couple of years now
she's finally got all the right people on board and
so they're going ahead with it. Don't know who's gonna
play Team Attornery yet, but once they get everything worked out.
Speaker 2 (26:14):
The audition got an audition, Yeah, they'll bring it over
here and we'll all get to enjoy it some very stylized.
Speaker 5 (26:20):
Role Merphy Simon, Jody Music News.
Speaker 2 (26:23):

Speaker 2 (26:30):
No?
Speaker 8 (26:31):
I think Stephen comment on our Facebook page of parts
of it that you need to watch.
Speaker 2 (26:34):
Very closely or you're gonna miss some really cool stuff.
Speaker 1 (26:37):
Okay, be sure to catch Murphy, Sam and Jody after
the show. It's easy to do. It's so many exclusive

wherever your favorite podcast provider is.
Speaker 2 (26:49):
The producer's mail bag, Emily, what's in your bag today?
Speaker 8 (26:52):
We've heard from Stephen and I'm gonna remind you who
Steven is.
Speaker 2 (26:55):
He's really cool. He's a pilot.
Speaker 3 (26:58):
Okay, well, hello Steve.
Speaker 8 (27:00):
He's sent pictures like when Sam every so often drops
that he rode with the Blue Angels.
Speaker 2 (27:04):
Wo who you know?
Speaker 3 (27:06):
That's pretty big?
Speaker 2 (27:08):
Wait, he actually did with the Blue.
Speaker 1 (27:12):
You've never You've never seen that video where he almost
did he almost got did?
Speaker 2 (27:16):
I chuckled?
Speaker 8 (27:17):
Well, Steven sent us a picture of himself upside down
flying inverted playing.
Speaker 2 (27:23):
Okay, so stow really cool.
Speaker 6 (27:24):
I'm assuming that's a military jet, not an upside.
Speaker 2 (27:29):
But Emily send me that picture.
Speaker 8 (27:31):
Well, it's it's in our private messages on Okay, So
Stephen says Sam, I loved Rogue one.
Speaker 6 (27:38):
I haven't seen it yet.
Speaker 1 (27:39):
I can't believe that you know what I should have
Actually over the weekend, sent you a note said, hey,
did you see it?
Speaker 6 (27:45):
Wait?
Speaker 3 (27:46):
I would think you would be one of the first.
Speaker 2 (27:47):
The reason is sweet.
Speaker 6 (27:48):
I wanted to and I thought, well, you know what,
the kids might, at least Jackson and Parker might want
to go see this. I don't know about Maddie.
Speaker 2 (27:55):
She may not love Star Wars.
Speaker 6 (27:56):
I've got them all next week, you know, after Christmas,
gonna go see it?
Speaker 2 (28:00):
Now?
Speaker 3 (28:01):
Well that is sweet?
Speaker 8 (28:02):
Okay, Well, Steven says, I was very young when the
original came out in seventy seven. You said last week
that it had the look and feel of episode four,
and it does. Watch it closely, including the background, and
you will see characters and droids from Star Wars and
Empire Strikes Back.
Speaker 6 (28:19):
Okay.
Speaker 8 (28:20):
Being a pilot, I love the go pro style views,
views shot from on board the X Wing Fighters.
Speaker 3 (28:28):
Got it gone Wow.
Speaker 1 (28:30):
I had impressed myself when I strapped a GoPro to
Sam's head in a go cart. The wing of a
fighter jet probably takes it to a new level. I'm guessing.
Speaker 2 (28:37):
Supposedly the first movie to ever do that was Top
Gun and like that's Stephen, supposedly like it's one of
the coolest flying movies.
Speaker 1 (28:43):
On the first go pros in. There were sixty thousand
dollars cameras up.
Speaker 2 (28:47):
There, they were, they were so look for all of that,
Sam And.
Speaker 6 (28:51):
Thanks, thanks Steven love it.
Speaker 7 (28:54):
Next, Jody's got the Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 2 (28:57):
The big movies that'll take on Rogue one at the
box office this week. Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence doing
that together. And by the way, how they bonded on
set for Passengers.
Speaker 10 (29:06):
Next, Jody's Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 2 (29:11):
Some big, big, big, big movies come to the box
office at this time of the year. And I'm not
just talking about Rogue one, a Star Wars story.
Speaker 6 (29:18):
They try to sneak it me in before the end
of the year.
Speaker 2 (29:20):
I know, and I guess that December, when so many
people are off in holiday, you go to the movies
with your family.
Speaker 6 (29:27):
Yeah, well, I think it's like this week. You know
how usually Friday is the opening night. Well this week
it's when Wednesday.
Speaker 2 (29:33):
So tomorrow a couple of big ones for the whole family.
Big names here too, Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence. I mean,
who gets top billing in a sci fi adventure called Passengers?
Speaker 8 (29:45):
Wow?
Speaker 5 (29:45):
Weekly enough, pretty good to yourself? Did you look fine
this evening. We're on a date.
Speaker 2 (29:50):
Very nice?
Speaker 7 (29:51):
Took you long enough to ask, so why did you
give up your life on Earth?
Speaker 2 (29:56):
So, a spacecraft traveling to a distant colony planet transporting
thousands of people, has this malfunction in its sleep chambers,
and a lot of these people are in their sleep
chambers as a result. Two of its passionate passengers you
get it, are awakened ninety years early too.
Speaker 6 (30:14):
Everybody else is still asleep.
Speaker 2 (30:16):
Yeah, and it looks really beautiful and you know, action packed.
And apparently these two really bonded on the set and
became fast friends. They became friends because they both love
the movie Dumb and Dumber and can quote it. She
admitted to Chris Pratt that she's never seen Guardians of
the Galaxy all the way through and that was a problem.
They also apparently have a pretty intense love scene and
that it was very difficult for them because he's married.
(30:38):
She knows his wife Anna Faris. That's called Passengers, rated PG. Thirteen,
opening tomorrow. Also an animated comedy for the whole family
and big voices. Big names here that you've heard. Matthew
McConaughey Reese Witherspoon, to name a few. It's called sing My.
Speaker 10 (30:54):
Theater has been going through some pretty rough times, lady,
So what do I do?
Speaker 3 (30:58):
Quit?
Speaker 5 (30:59):
No, next show is gonna be drum roll please?
Speaker 3 (31:04):
Hey, singing competition.
Speaker 2 (31:06):
Matthew McConaughey's trying to save his club. He's got this theater.
I'm sorry, this theater, and he decides to produce the
world's greatest singing competitions.
Speaker 6 (31:14):
Y're all animals too.
Speaker 2 (31:15):
They're all animals. Reese Witherspoon, Scarlet Johanson and you know
she can sing, Seth MacFarland some of the names you'll
know there Uh animated comedy for the whole family. That
one's rated p G. So that's out tomorrow in the
theaters for families.
Speaker 6 (31:28):
Oh can I sneak one in two about the Rock
and Roll Hall of Fame?
Speaker 3 (31:30):
Yes?
Speaker 2 (31:30):
Please?
Speaker 6 (31:31):
We got all the inductees Today, they're gonna the Hall
is gonna announce who the five ooh fans are. They
were going in number one vote get her for the
fan vote so far, and they get an extra vote
in the in the finals. Is journey?
Speaker 2 (31:43):
Yes, not a surprise, I guess yes, It's about time
for that one. All right, coming up in your next
Hollywood outside of this morning around eight thirty. Speaking of
Matthew McConaughey, the role he will reprise if HPO will have.
Speaker 7 (31:55):
Him up to date with Joney's Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 2 (31:58):
We're gonna help you make breakfast for a out if
you have company coming for Christmas on the way. Okay, Sam,
who likes Raise your hand if you like peppermint moca.
Speaker 3 (32:07):
Me you do?
Speaker 2 (32:08):
Sam? I like discovered it really yeah, just this year,
didn't you. Sam.
Speaker 1 (32:12):
What I never understood about peppermint mocha is though, how
much of the syrpey sugar sweetness it actually has in it? Yeah,
there gonna be too much of it, so I have
to be the type one diabetic thing, you know, watch that.
But I love the flavoring. Yeah it wasn't the happiest.
It's one of the happiest to me flavors.
Speaker 2 (32:28):
The first time I ever had one, I thought it
was so good and I drank it too fast. I
got a headache. I know it was too It was
the sugar.
Speaker 6 (32:34):
Yeah, it was sugar good.
Speaker 2 (32:36):
Okay, So look I found make it at home A
peppermint mocha recipe for a crowd. Well, six cups of coffee,
you know, so you could make it enough for me.
You could make a batch of peppermint mocha, so you
want to know about it, six cups of six cups
of freshly brewed coffee. You could double this and make
the whole pot if you want to semi sweet, baking chips, milk,
(32:57):
peppermint extract, some candy and preen for the top, if
you really really want to go there. You pour all
the coffee in a big saucepan and you start, you know,
adding the chocolate pieces and you mix it up so
you're melting melt, you're melting chocolate into coffee. Then you
add milk, then you and it looks perfect. You may
add as much milk or as little as you like.
Get the color you want it, wow, okay, And then
(33:18):
you add your peppermint extra extract and we're talking about
a teaspoon. Don't go overboard with it or you get
the headache, you know, And then you can serve it
up and you sweeten it if you want to, you know,
however much you want to, or with whatever you want to.
Speaker 6 (33:30):
Sweeten it with, and you can put it on ice.
Speaker 2 (33:31):
You can do it on ice or hot. I mean,
I like iced drinks, but some people are like purist
about a peppermint milkan needs to be hot. Then you
can if you really want to party it up, whipped
cream and then crush peppermints.
Speaker 6 (33:43):
Hmm, pretty, that is fun and a candy cane.
Speaker 3 (33:46):
You could the peppermint extract.
Speaker 1 (33:48):
It's not naturally sweet, so maybe that's a good alternative
if you don't want to use like the pump, because
you could always go the fath round. Do the pump
dude right by the coffee pot and be done with it.
Speaker 2 (33:57):
You're right, diabetic, you're right. Don't mind to get this
recipe and breakfast castle roles. If you have company coming,
which we do. Do you want to make something easy
for everybody? Go get those all at Murphysaman Jody dot com.
Speaker 5 (34:09):
Coming up next with Murphy's Sam and Jody.
Speaker 1 (34:12):
Oh, we have a little early Christmas thing that has
never been done before. Certainly, don't want this to be
a tradition our younger.
Speaker 3 (34:17):
Yeah, I thought her. Phoebe's gonna have surgery May, so we're.
Speaker 2 (34:19):
Gonna let her have whatever she wants to eat at
like ten o'clock tonight, you know nothing after eleven. Play
about that coming up, Sam, since we start our vacation
tomorrow when you first get up in the morning, on
how late you're gonna sleep, but send up a little
prayer for our Phoebe. She's having her surgery in the
morning on her foot, on.
Speaker 6 (34:37):
Her particular nick.
Speaker 3 (34:39):
It's a navicular accessory.
Speaker 2 (34:41):
It's an accessory and avicular bone backwards. We all have
a nucular bone. She has one and an accessory which
needs to come out.
Speaker 1 (34:48):
What's funny is every time I try to explain that
to somebody, I feel like I begin to glaze over,
and everybody else does too.
Speaker 3 (34:53):
It's just like, Okay, it's.
Speaker 2 (34:55):
A simple little thing that's causing her pain. If it
comes out, her pain will stop. She can be a
cheer leader again. Right now, she can't jump, run, even
stand on her tiptoes without great pain.
Speaker 1 (35:03):
Right by the way you have you have influenced her, Sam,
just so that you yeah, how with the sight Jody,
tell you what do you mean?
Speaker 3 (35:11):
You know how? Sam has influenced her because she wants
to keep the bone.
Speaker 2 (35:14):
Oh yeah, she wants She's going to bag the doctor
if she can keep the bone.
Speaker 1 (35:17):
She specifically said, well, you know, mister Sam kept his tonsils.
I'm like, okay, there we go. Mister Sam said, Exam,
I'm not the.
Speaker 2 (35:24):
Guy for anything here, no more talking. So she's gonna
ask him. I really hope he says yes, because that
means something to her. I hope he says, Jess. But
I mean, she's ready for this to be over with.
But I'm nervous. I'm a little nervous. You know.
Speaker 3 (35:40):
The first couple of days, yeah, anthesia.
Speaker 1 (35:42):
That, yeah, absolutely, and then the you know, the two
weeks in the cast. I mean the first couple of days,
I'm just worried about how it's gonna hurt.
Speaker 2 (35:47):
I wonder how she's gonna behave also on whatever pain
medicine they give her, because they're going to give her something,
you know, and this would be.
Speaker 1 (35:53):
Her first well, I think what they're going to try
to do is minimize that with what they sell, Like
mister medical.
Speaker 6 (35:57):
Here we go. I'm glazing over all, right, But.
Speaker 1 (36:00):
They're doing They're going to do a pain block so
that way she doesn't have to be on some unsystemic
medications as much.
Speaker 3 (36:06):
Do you see what I'm saying?
Speaker 6 (36:07):
What's that pain block?
Speaker 3 (36:08):
I had?
Speaker 2 (36:08):
One when I had foot surgery.
Speaker 1 (36:09):
Right, yeah, it's it's the It's an injection basically the
deadens of the area for a long time. It doesn't
last forever, but it keeps you from having to immediately
go onto all the oral meds and the guid nar coming.
Speaker 2 (36:20):
Night of my foot surgery, when once I finally woke
up because you brought me home and I laid down
and went to bed. The night I woke up and
realized I want to go and see what everybody's doing.
I hopped up on that scooter and I scooted into
the living room, remember that, and immediately I was like, whoa,
I'm sick.
Speaker 3 (36:36):
Yeah, I almost fell off. You shouldn't have done that.
Speaker 2 (36:38):
And she's a kid, so we're gonna have to explain
to her when you when you wake up, call us.
Speaker 3 (36:42):
Don't jump up right.
Speaker 1 (36:43):
We don't want your slamming in the walls the way mommy.
Speaker 2 (36:47):
Very funny, send up a prayer? Are you here? Eight
seven seven three one oh four M s J. We
love having you along. Chris your favorite Christmas song up next.
Speaker 1 (36:59):
I always love to hear from eight seven seven three
one oh four ms J. Can call you, can text
you can even leave a voicemail anytime, twenty four hours
a day.
Speaker 3 (37:07):
That's right, Chris, how are you pretty good?
Speaker 4 (37:11):
I wanted to put in a fruitful one of the
Christmas dolls.
Speaker 5 (37:14):
Okay, the Dominic, the Italian Christmas donkey.
Speaker 6 (37:19):
Dominic, the Italian Christmas donkey. What it's very funny.
Speaker 2 (37:24):
Okay, where did you hear? Where did you even hear it?
Speaker 5 (37:28):
My wife found it, okay, and every time we got
it loaded on our phone, and every time we get
the whole family in the car and replay it and
everybody sing, Really.
Speaker 2 (37:38):
My goodness, there are tons of Christmas songs that we
don't know about. Yeah, okay, who sings it?
Speaker 5 (37:44):
Do you know that I do not know?
Speaker 6 (37:46):
Okay, Dominic?
