I'm sure I could. But we were talking about my
first job, which was McDonald mcdonald' when I was sixteen, Sham.

I was the win to drive through. I was the
drive through girl and the girl at the front sometimes
and then I hosted birthday parties.

My first job really was cutting grass only that was
a cash only basis.

By the way, just so you know, that was a
backdoor thing, but it was.

Limited to really just the neighborhood because I don't think

reason I bring it up is because I've always said
for years when we talk about first jobs that I
had a great experience working at McDonald's and I did.
I learned a lot just about their system. I mean, man,
do they have it together with how things are done

behind that counter that from the time they placed it,
or of course it could be very different now, but
from the time they placed you say what you want
that clocks ticking and they want that food in your hand.
I think it was two minutes or less, something crazy
like that. And there are so many systems and I
was impressed with that, and I thought, Wow, bigger picture here,
not just burgers. But so I learned a lot and

all of that, and I was very time conscious. I
hated to be late. I was so mad at a
boyfriend once for making me late.
Speaker 3 (02:19):
Yead, Yeah, can you late to get to McDonald's at work?
Speaker 1 (02:22):
Yes? Really, because he drove me there and he was
made me late. Anyway, Anyway, when I bring it back up,
because I've always said I had a great experience, and
I think it's a great job for any young person
to try. But I worry now thinking about what we
saw the other night. You and I went to get
burgers and shakes the other night, and there was this

burger joint with the shakes and all they were slammed,
and it was all young people working, and the adults
who were impatient having a fit to get their chocolate
shakes were so mean to those kids.
Speaker 2 (02:53):
I do but if you noticed that, you know, honestly,
those kids handled themselves better in their response to those adults,
and the adults were handling themselves.
Speaker 1 (03:02):
Yes, quite embarrassing. We're in such an instant gratification world
now that even the most grown up adults have very
little patience. And you know what, when it's a young
person working, you should whip out your patients. You really should.
You should bring an extra dose of your patients. It
could be their first time, You could be their first customer.
Speaker 3 (03:23):
Yeah, you don't know.
Speaker 1 (03:24):
I had my first customer. I spilled a drink on
a man, Sure did.
Speaker 2 (03:29):
But you know the manager that was there because it
took me, I don't know, maybe thirty minutes to get
the shake. And so most people, look, I get it,
most people productly will laugh.
Speaker 3 (03:38):
But see I wasn't. I just wasn't gonna do that.
Speaker 2 (03:40):
A this is really good, it's worth waiting in a
half an hour or for. But I also, I mean
what I was seeing was, even though it was kind
of chaotic, they were doing their best. And I wanted
to be able to get to the front of the line,
to be the first guy in line to actually thank
the girl for doing and taking care of everything the
way that she was taking care of because everyone else

was being so rude a little lot.

Right, right, So I see what you're saying, Jody, But
you know.
Speaker 2 (04:05):
You can't keep her from that. You can't protect her
from to be that's the real work environment. That's the
customer services encounter.
