Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to the second half of today's Murphy, Sam and
Jody podcast.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
So, Sam, after we sent you home with some no
bake energy bites the other day, we haven't heard about
your Father's Day yet.
Speaker 3 (00:10):
Well, first of all, I'll say that there are two
left no bake energy bites.
Speaker 2 (00:14):
Oh better than Murphy Murphy's.
Speaker 1 (00:16):
Yeah, I clean them out, but.
Speaker 2 (00:18):
You guys had the same amount.
Speaker 1 (00:19):
By the way, I was about to say I had
a smaller portion, So much for that.
Speaker 3 (00:23):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (00:23):
Sorry, Well, Friday, the weekend started Friday.
Speaker 3 (00:26):
The twins' birthday was this weekend, so we had an
inner together and their mom and Steff, dad and the twins,
and then Sunday I went to Sammy's house. The Sammy
usually did something on Mother's Day or Father's Day where
everybody comes over. We have steaks or some meal that
we all put together. I didn't have to I offer,
but it's like Father's Day. You don't contribute anything here.
Speaker 2 (00:46):
That was difficult for you, I bet.
Speaker 4 (00:48):
Yeah, because I almost did something anyway. Yeah, I was like,
I didn't know. He said no, but.
Speaker 2 (00:52):
That would be in your mom's style.
Speaker 1 (00:55):
That's right.
Speaker 2 (00:55):
Yeah, it's Judy bringing the potato salamon. You didn't need it.
Speaker 3 (00:58):
It's funny though we had a conversation. We had had
a Samy and I had a conversation. He says, yeah,
have a Mother's Day. I told everybody no desserts because
Dad's bringing dessert, and everybody brought desserts. I was like,
I'm definitely not bringing anything this week. But we played
games after it was all over all the eating. Every
dad that was there had a different game, like a
crossword puzzle or a word search. The whole group played.
(01:21):
Mine was a wordle. You know that New York Times
sing with the five letters. Yes, So it's like I
gave my five letters. I figured it's obvious radio because
it was a word that describes me.
Speaker 4 (01:33):
Correct, That wasn't it?
Speaker 2 (01:34):
Okay?
Speaker 4 (01:35):
So my next word was Sammy, just no, because.
Speaker 2 (01:38):
I was I got one for sure for you.
Speaker 3 (01:40):
Well, the third word got it, but one of the
other people screamed it out and I was like, oh, yeah,
that's it.
Speaker 4 (01:44):
Laugh.
Speaker 2 (01:45):
Oh I was gonna say, yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:47):
Okay, yeah, laugh was the word that describes pops me.
Speaker 4 (01:52):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:53):
There was a lot of thought put into this.
Speaker 4 (01:55):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:55):
Well last year for Father's Day, I remember they made
poems up for each and they read the poem and
we had to figure out who each dad was. You know,
mine again was obvious with the radio and the laughs.
Speaker 2 (02:07):
Is this your daughter in law Melissa?
Speaker 4 (02:09):
Yes it is.
Speaker 2 (02:09):
She's a school teacher. Yeah, man, I want.
Speaker 4 (02:12):
To go to her house for fact so much as
school teacher.
Speaker 3 (02:15):
She has her magic whiteboard in the living room at home.
You know during summer I love that's where we played
on the magic whiteboard.
Speaker 2 (02:23):
Was the big wordle That's fantastic and laugh is a
fantastic word to describe you. It means that that's what
you give everybody. Yeah, so fantastic. Coming up next. Three
things to Know Today. Three things to Know Today.
Speaker 4 (02:40):
Brought to you by State Farm Number one.
Speaker 2 (02:42):
Lately, a lot of people have been finding dryer sheets
in their mailboxes. It's not garbage, it's not an accident.
It's basically wasp warfare. Coastal workers are stashing you know,
dryer sheets and mailboxes, mailboxes where they've seen wasp building
and as the look they have to stick their hands
in there and you know, wasp and yellow jackets. They
(03:05):
don't like the smell, they can't stand it. They like
to build in dark, cozy places like mailboxes. So if
you find a dryer sheet, leave it. Number two Pope
Leo made his first US debut this weekend sort of
did you hear about it? At a White Sox game.
Of course, he's from Chicago. He's a Chicago native and
the first American pope. He did. He delivered remarks via
(03:27):
video during a mass that was held at the ballpark,
and he just urged everybody to continue to build up community.
That's what makes us stronger. And by the way, the
team also extended than the offer for him to throw
out the first pitch when he comes to town. And
number three, who knew this was a thing? Who can
make this happen? Today is take your cat to work day?
Speaker 1 (03:52):
So you make that happen.
Speaker 2 (03:53):
Don't know how that's not as easy as taking a
dog to work.
Speaker 4 (03:58):
It's just not.
Speaker 2 (03:58):
Although isn't it in the world when you walk into
like a sweet little shop and there's a cat that
lives there. Yeah, Favorite, you're up to date. Three things
to know today. You might have a favorite superhero if
you're into all that. Sometimes you have a favorite one
that stands out. Okay, now, there is a superhero logo
(04:19):
that I have a special affinity for and you guys.
Speaker 1 (04:22):
Know, Oh yeah, it's the Superman logo. You have a
Superman shirt?
Speaker 2 (04:25):
I do. I have more than one. Actually I have
three Superman shirts.
Speaker 1 (04:29):
Oh do you?
Speaker 2 (04:30):
Yeah, I wear There's only one in Hot Rotation though
that I wear off.
Speaker 4 (04:33):
Didn't you lose that your daughters?
Speaker 2 (04:35):
Yeah? I couldn't find it for six months and it
was like at the bottom of a box in Phoebe's
room or something. I was. You have to be careful
what you tell your kids to donate. You need to
go through everything. If they they're gonna get rid of stuff,
make sure your stuff's not in there. That happens to
me repeatedly. Anyway, Superman the New Superman is coming to
theaters really soon, a few weeks away, July eleventh, and
(04:59):
I'm so hope for it. I want to share a
little bit of it with you now here.
Speaker 4 (05:04):
We got to have to keep this side of yourself
a secret.
Speaker 2 (05:07):
What was I supposed to do? Nowtom Die? Now, Murphy,
you know that it's a DC comic. However, James Gunn
is the director. You want to explain to him who
James gun is.
Speaker 3 (05:19):
James Gunn is the one who gave us all the
great Marvel stuff. Oh he was a Marvel guy when
DC was putting out all the garbage that nobody seemed
to like. And now he's moved over to DC. And
if you watch the Superman trailer.
Speaker 4 (05:30):
It's like, oh, it's a Marvel trail. Oh no, wait,
it's James Gun.
Speaker 2 (05:34):
So here's what's up, Murphy. I'm going to want to
see this in theaters. I really do want to see it.
I like Superman. Iron Man is a favorite, too, but
I really like Superman. July eleventh, Lois Lane played by
Rachel Brosnahan, she's perfect for that, perfect for that. And
we had heard and we mentioned it in like the
Hollywood Outside or a month ago, that Will Reeve is
(05:56):
in the movie. Christopher Reeve's son, and Hasey sent this email.
You mentioned Will Reeves, son of late Christopher Reeve. He's
playing a cameo in the New Superman movie as a
news anchor. So he's like one little part. Just want
to let you know he actually is a new anchor,
news anchor. Babyc's good morning America, America. It's a full
(06:17):
circle moment for him to be in this movie, and
I looked into it. He's the youngest son of Christopher
Reeve and he was like three years old when his
dad died, so it is a beautiful thing.
Speaker 1 (06:28):
For him to beautiful.
Speaker 2 (06:29):
Yeah right, thank you for that, Casey. You keep it
coming anytime.
Speaker 1 (06:32):
Coming up, Jody has another Hollywood outsider.
Speaker 2 (06:36):
Father's Day at our house was not just today, it
was Father's Day weekend. Murphy got Father's Day stuff Friday, Saturday,
and Sunday.
Speaker 4 (06:42):
Awesome.
Speaker 1 (06:43):
Yeah, it was like having the jackpot hitting the jackpot.
Speaker 2 (06:48):
We had a party Saturday night at the house with
you know, Murphy's brother and sister and their families and
every dad there. This was my favorite thing. Got a
dad grab bag on the way out.
Speaker 1 (06:57):
Oh that's handywork there. Yeah, that was really cool and
I wasn't expecting one of myself. Jody starts handing them out.
She says, you get one too.
Speaker 2 (07:05):
I'm like, oh, I wasn't going to leave you out,
honorary dad. It was your house.
Speaker 1 (07:09):
I thought they were guest gift bags, not just every
day gift was it the kind.
Speaker 4 (07:12):
Of bags you get at a five year old birthday party?
Sort of?
Speaker 2 (07:16):
Every dad got a bar of Doctor Squatch soap.
Speaker 1 (07:19):
Which is great, smells good.
Speaker 2 (07:21):
Gold a little bag of goldfish, a little bag of yogi's.
I think they're called yogis.
Speaker 1 (07:25):
Those yeah, they're called yogis. That's the name. I can't
doesn't stick in my head. Love those things.
Speaker 2 (07:29):
It's yogurt. It's like a little fruit with yogurt covering, coating,
and it's delicious.
Speaker 1 (07:34):
Instead of being pretzel coat, you know a pretzel that's coated.
It's just like a little fruit coated things.
Speaker 2 (07:38):
And then it was like a Scottie. It was just
it was the most fun thing was to give the
dad to be there one. He didn't know he was
getting one, you know, so yeah, he's about to be
a dad in September, so that was really fun. We
had a party, we watched baseball, you know, we ate sandwiches.
But bringing up the you know the Taylor and Phoebe
(08:01):
always gift Murphy really sweet homemade, handmade things your daughters
and Taylor brought really brought it this year. You want
to go ahead and tell Sam.
Speaker 1 (08:10):
Well, yeah, it was. It was one offul We all
went to lunch together and got back and Taylor made
her own her homemade tear massuh with the Biscof cookies nice,
which is just outstanding.
Speaker 2 (08:22):
So yeah, it's like it takes some serious time and
effort to make that. She makes it homemade from scratch.
Speaker 1 (08:27):
Well, and my favorite part of it is the letter's
dad were on the so when she dusted it with
the cocoa, you know, I guess you, what do you
call that when you put down a template?
Speaker 2 (08:37):
Stencils?
Speaker 1 (08:38):
Stencils? Yeah, so thank you Jody the stencils. You know,
it said dad. It was really Ah, that's nice.
Speaker 2 (08:44):
It's so funny because I cleaned out the family room
a week ago and I found all that stuff and
I was like, Taylor, because she had told me she
was going to do a heart or something in the
cocoa powder. Yeah, and I found the letters and I'm like, Taylor,
you need these.
Speaker 1 (08:58):
There's still nothing better than your kids making stuff for you,
you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (09:03):
Cool? Yeah, all right, Coming up next, your Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 1 (09:09):
Trending Now, Jody's Hollywood.
Speaker 4 (09:11):
Outsider, brought to you by Private Team Mysticus.
Speaker 2 (09:13):
We're all used to hearing the name Anna Diarmis by now,
and of course she has her own movie where she's
the lead, the John Wicks spin off Ballerina To.
Speaker 3 (09:20):
Stop the assission.
Speaker 2 (09:23):
Anna d Armists yea, I know that you have a
thing for her.
Speaker 4 (09:26):
Sam, Well, she's you know, it's not hard on the eyes.
Speaker 2 (09:29):
Yeah, So the word is she and Tom Cruise continue
to spark rumors that they're dating. They're just not announcing anything.
They have been spotted together a lot at social events,
David Beckham's fiftieth birthday party, They're going to dinner all
over the place. But they're also being spotted in work
meetings together because guess what, they are set to star
(09:50):
together in a movie called Deeper, like a no thriller thing. Yeah.
So look, the word is he's slowly and surely decided
he wanted to.
Speaker 4 (10:01):
Hey, he probably gave her some hands and tips for
the you know ballery he does that.
Speaker 2 (10:05):
He does that, do your own stunts, d It might
be another big Hollywood romance there. Moving on to something
that a lot of fans have been waiting for, a
he Man live action movie.
Speaker 1 (10:17):
I'm a Master.
Speaker 4 (10:19):
A lot of people been waiting for this one us an.
Speaker 2 (10:21):
It's a live action Masters of the Universe and it's
a fantasy epic thing set for a release summer release
next year. Everybody's confirmed that they wrapped filming on it.
If you watch this cartoon, you will love this. Even
if it's only ten percent of the populace, or.
Speaker 1 (10:38):
If you think you're a he man, maybe you'll enjoy it.
Speaker 2 (10:43):
Maybe this will help you if you have technical problems
like me. For the first hour of our day together,
Sam witnessed this happening to me repeatedly, and Murphy, I
didn't share this with you because I didn't I kind
of wanted to figure it out myself before I brought
the Murphy into the situation. So it's biometrics to get
into my phone. You know, I know the code or whatever,
(11:06):
but I just use my fingerprint.
Speaker 1 (11:08):
Yeah, yeah, it's just easier that way. Face recognition, fingerprints,
It's awesome.
Speaker 2 (11:12):
Now it's my pointer finger that I use. That's the
one that I set up. It's the only one I
set up.
Speaker 1 (11:17):
You can set all your fingers up.
Speaker 2 (11:18):
But yes, I know Murphy has all his fingers well.
Speaker 1 (11:21):
Because sometimes you're holding your phone with your left hand
and your left thumb's not the same as you right thumb.
Speaker 2 (11:25):
I thought that, what do you use thumb?
Speaker 1 (11:27):
Thumb?
Speaker 3 (11:28):
Well thumb when I have to. My old iPhone had that,
But now I just use facial recognition.
Speaker 2 (11:33):
Oh even better. Okay, and it always works every time.
Speaker 4 (11:36):
Every time.
Speaker 2 (11:38):
Okay, I was having trouble. It was like my finger
there was something wrong with my finger. It would not
let me in. I couldn't even authenticate to do my work.
And I was so frustrated, and I was like, yeah,
I pinched my finger the other day or this morning
on the fridge, or do I have lotion on? I
thought for sure it was me, but it was not working,
and it was like, my finger print has not changed.
(11:59):
What is wrong?
Speaker 1 (12:00):
It's probably the screen.
Speaker 2 (12:02):
What's the screen with the screen, it was needed to
be cleaned, right rare, you authenticate and press that your
finger down and it opens.
Speaker 1 (12:12):
There was makeup, Yes, mustard, that's the only thing I
could think of that would be on your phone makeup.
Speaker 2 (12:19):
It was like, uh, what do you call that? Timber Well, The.
Speaker 1 (12:23):
Reason that I know that is because you know, the
passenger side of my car is all makeup too, same thing,
so I know it gets on your fingers.
Speaker 2 (12:33):
Look, it's just the hazard whatever.
Speaker 4 (12:36):
Whenever I used to have to use my thumb, if
my thumb happened to be.
Speaker 2 (12:39):
Wet, you can't do it.
Speaker 4 (12:40):
It wouldn't work on anything.
Speaker 1 (12:42):
Oh well yeah, and if you're if your phone screen
has anything wet on it, forget typing on it, it doesn't.
It messes the whole thing up.
Speaker 2 (12:49):
It's an interesting thing though, because as we age, our
skin changes, I wonder, but it doesn't change. The fingerprint
doesn't change.
Speaker 1 (12:57):
I think it's the unique idea. I think that's the
why it reasons you get fingerprinted before you go to jail,
when you're booked
Speaker 2 (13:06):
Dy
