Speaker 1 (00:02):
So excited that it's Friday.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
But you know, I know who is not going to
be so excited about this, Jody the weekend, Uh, and
I'm going to talk about my birthday weekend. I'm just
talking about there it goes. I'm talking about our girls
are going to realize that this is the last weekend
of July, and so next week is August, and that
means school starting right around the corner.
Speaker 1 (00:20):
That's going to be on their mind.
Speaker 3 (00:21):
Yeah, Taylor starts first, and then Phoebe starts later a
week later this year this time, but.
Speaker 2 (00:27):
It doesn't have to be a bummer. We should just
focus on the fact that it's Friday.
Speaker 4 (00:30):
No, it's reading time for them.
Speaker 3 (00:31):
You're talking about people who've put off summer reading to
the very last, and then they wonder why it feels
like so much.
Speaker 2 (00:38):
I know that we pushed them. Why do I have
a little parental guilt about that? Why do I have
just a little bit of the could we do it differently?
I don't know, I mean, could we have encouraged them differently?
You know, encouraged.
Speaker 4 (00:49):
I can tell you I'm spent with doing all lot
you have get them to read?
Speaker 5 (00:53):
Yeah, yeah, how much more do they have too much?
Speaker 3 (00:57):
Phoebe has the rest of her second book, and Taylor
has a whole.
Speaker 4 (01:04):
Nonfiction book which she still has to read.
Speaker 1 (01:06):
I got to get on dat.
Speaker 4 (01:07):
Yeah, yes, certainly do.
Speaker 3 (01:10):
It is your birthday weekend, Murphy and so, and you
made it clear that it needs to be your birthday weekend,
all weekend.
Speaker 2 (01:16):
Yeah, that makes it sound like it, that is what
you said. Well, no, it's not about me. It's that
we always kind of make you know, we make a
celebration more than one day for anything that we do.
Speaker 4 (01:26):
Well, I like that.
Speaker 3 (01:27):
Well, I'm going to take the girls. They want to
do a little shopping for you tomorrow, so you can,
you know, do whatever you want to do, get to
take a free day, yes, and I mean the whole day.
Speaker 4 (01:38):
Do whatever.
Speaker 3 (01:39):
Okay, use that time wisely though it goes. It slips
faster than you think.
Speaker 5 (01:43):
You know, maybe have a garage sale.
Speaker 3 (01:44):
Okay, right, But I do have something special plan for
you Sunday that we'll tell you about later today.
Speaker 4 (01:51):
Okay, that's coming up later.
Speaker 1 (01:53):
I take you. That doesn't it means it's not a surprise.
If you're going to tell me.
Speaker 3 (01:56):
I'm going to tell you later on the only time
for me that won't be dedicated to you and your
birthday weekend is Sunday night.
Speaker 1 (02:03):
Oh game Game of Thrones, right, But.
Speaker 3 (02:07):
Look, I give everybody like, I'm like, dinner's done. You
guys go to it.
Speaker 1 (02:12):
You know I'll be I'm like, I'm wired for that.
Speaker 2 (02:14):
I know that Jody drops off the radar for that
one hour every Sunday night, at least until the season's done.
Speaker 4 (02:19):
Certainly not the only one.
Speaker 2 (02:21):
So coming up, you know, Seem talked about permanent, permanent
singlehood yesterday. Yeah, kind of thinking the.
Speaker 5 (02:27):
Longer I'm single, less likely I think I'm going to
come out of it.
Speaker 2 (02:30):
And so we've heard from you saying there are plenty
of suggestions coming in on Facebook because you know, kind
of guiding you through this. And we'll have that coming
up in the producer's mail bag.
Speaker 3 (02:38):
Coming up, you're a Hollywood I got news about True
Detective season three and it's exciting.
Speaker 2 (02:48):
One of the many fun things about Friday is new
movies at the box office the next hour, your family
friendly box office reviews.
Speaker 1 (02:54):
So you know what's coming up.
Speaker 6 (02:57):
Judy's Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 3 (02:58):
Are you guys now? I don't know if you know
about our hopes for a True Detective season three. But
I'm hopeful for this, not only that it'll be as
good as the first season with Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson,
But well.
Speaker 4 (03:10):
That's the hope. But the second one wasn't so great.
The second one.
Speaker 5 (03:14):
I even watched the second one.
Speaker 1 (03:15):
Oh, we did all the way through. I had to.
Speaker 4 (03:17):
Wait, wait.
Speaker 3 (03:18):
By about episode four, we finally admitted to each other.
Speaker 4 (03:20):
I don't really understand what's going on here.
Speaker 5 (03:22):
Yeah, I think that's that's probably why I didn't watch it,
because you said you had no clue.
Speaker 1 (03:26):
What was going on. Well, Rachel McAdams kept me through
the whole thing, just so that you know.
Speaker 4 (03:31):
Sawn as a bad guy.
Speaker 1 (03:32):
So confusing.
Speaker 3 (03:33):
Yeah, I thought we watched the whole thing and I
wouldn't watch it again.
Speaker 4 (03:37):
It was odd.
Speaker 1 (03:38):
It was just bizarre. So who's coming back for three?
Speaker 4 (03:40):
Well, we they haven't green lit the whole thing yet.
Speaker 3 (03:44):
It's one of those projects that's in the works True
Detective season three, but they do say if it happens,
and when it happens formally, it'll be the actor. You
may know him from Moonlight. He's been in a lot.
He was in House of Cards maherschela Ali. Remember from
Moonlight that your.
Speaker 4 (04:01):
Head rest of mind, relax, I've got to I promise you.
Speaker 3 (04:07):
He won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for Moonlight.
He played Remy in House of Cards.
Speaker 1 (04:13):
He is awesome, he is all.
Speaker 3 (04:15):
You're right, He's unbelievably subtle yet powerful, pretty mesmerized when
he's on screen.
Speaker 1 (04:22):
You see how his character. But would be the kind
of character that would make.
Speaker 3 (04:25):
I'm scared alread so true Detective season three. Apparently he's
already signed on.
Speaker 5 (04:30):
But no mention of what Harrelson and.
Speaker 4 (04:32):
No mention of that yet. Yeah, I kind of want that.
Speaker 3 (04:35):
And Matthew McConaughey always said that he would come back
to do that. Yeah, so we'll see. Also, have you
heard about the Kardashian news this week.
Speaker 1 (04:45):
About there's always Kardashian news, there is?
Speaker 4 (04:47):
This is actual news though.
Speaker 3 (04:48):
Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are expecting their third child
via surrogate, and the surrogate mother is a twenty two
year old woman who has done this a couple of
times before. They're paying her handsomely, and she's three months
along and so they're having a baby. January two thousand
and eight.
Speaker 5 (05:04):
Wow, twenty eighteen, I'm.
Speaker 4 (05:06):
Sorry, yeah, twenty eighteen, Doctor Tron.
Speaker 5 (05:09):
I didn't know Kanye could do that.
Speaker 3 (05:10):
He's doing January twenty eighteen, Murphy, Sam and Jody, you
are a Hollywood I'm okay. Our favorite thing ever to
hear from you, so coming up next to your email
answered and our producer's mail bag. David's got that, Sam.
I think it's all about why you're single.
Speaker 5 (05:25):
Okay.
Speaker 3 (05:28):
We love hearing from you the most, So jump in
in the conversation anytime eight seven seven three one zero
four MSJ or you can read just on Facebook or Instagram.
Speaker 6 (05:38):
It's fine for the producer's nailed down, David.
Speaker 7 (05:41):
What's in your bag today? Well, Sam, you've recently come
to the realization that you think the longer you stay single,
the more likely you'll be single forever.
Speaker 5 (05:48):
Yeah, because you know, I'm starting to get set in
my ways and don't know how much compromising I'm gonna.
Speaker 3 (05:53):
Do, like and having everything your own way. Yeah, that's
so you, Sam.
Speaker 5 (05:59):
And Plus I don't have to pay a side of
the bed.
Speaker 4 (06:04):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (06:04):
Well, Jeffrey wrote in says it's cheaper that way. That's true,
and Terry says, I think he needs to go on
and enjoy life, embrace family, and start finding what it
means to be Sam.
Speaker 3 (06:16):
Oh gosh, that's true. And you are finding that. Remember,
I think it was months ago that we kind of
let you know that. You seem pretty happy right now,
which is kind of cool.
Speaker 5 (06:28):
Yeah, I'm real happy.
Speaker 2 (06:30):
Maybe the way we can and I know we've got
more than the mail back, but maybe the way to
look at this. I love that because the more that
you discover what Sam likes, you may think it's not budgeting,
but then you've got actually something that you share with
somebody else that they can take interest in.
Speaker 1 (06:43):
Does that make sense?
Speaker 2 (06:45):
Some things have become uniquely Sam, or something that you
bring to the relationship, is my point.
Speaker 1 (06:49):
Yeah, just saying.
Speaker 3 (06:50):
Yeah, yeah, we have a friend, his name you know, Rick.
He's very happy single, he is You're true, that's true.
Speaker 4 (06:57):
It is true.
Speaker 1 (06:58):
Yeah, but you know, I mean Rick relationships that does.
Speaker 4 (07:02):
Maybe Sam has relationships that we don't know.
Speaker 5 (07:04):
About, not that I know of.
Speaker 7 (07:07):
Okay, Dwayne says, hey, Sam, I'm right there with you.
Took me four times to find the right one. Wow,
but the last three practices was well worth the end result.
Speaker 5 (07:16):
There you go, practices nice.
Speaker 7 (07:18):
I like that one, he says. I am currently with
the right one. I was her second marriage. Never give up, Sam, Okay.
Speaker 4 (07:26):
Thank you.
Speaker 1 (07:27):
Love that love that love that.
Speaker 2 (07:28):
That's a really see that's a good positive inspirational message
for you taking the weekend.
Speaker 4 (07:33):
Jump in anytime.
Speaker 3 (07:33):
We love hearing from you on Facebook, on Instagram or
Murphy saman Jody dot com.
Speaker 6 (07:38):
Yeah, Sam has mesic news.
Speaker 5 (07:40):
Yeah, we now know who American Idol is looking at
to fill out the final two judges on their panel.
Speaker 3 (07:45):
Cool Murphy's birthday is on Monday, so this weekend is
titled birthday week That's right.
Speaker 1 (07:54):
Well, I love that idea. I mean, I'm on board
with the contract.
Speaker 4 (07:58):
Coming up on next hour.
Speaker 3 (07:59):
I'll let you know one thing you're going to get
to do for your birthday weekend that you don't know
about yet.
Speaker 4 (08:03):
Give you a little warning here.
Speaker 1 (08:04):
A little surprise or surprise.
Speaker 4 (08:06):
It's a surprise. Cool.
Speaker 6 (08:08):
Sam's gotten music news.
Speaker 5 (08:09):
Oh you know, we already know that Katy Perry is
the big money judge for the reboot of American Idol
and real lead Ryan Seacrest, of course, has jumped on
back again as host. But there's been a whole bunch
of names batted around recently about who the producers are
looking for to fill out the other two judge spots.
And I say too, I mean, I guess they could
go with four judges, and.
Speaker 4 (08:29):
I want Lionel Richie.
Speaker 5 (08:31):
Yeah. Well they are now looking at country superstar Luke Bryan.
Speaker 3 (08:34):
But fish every damn if he does that shake and
stuff he likes to do, the ladies are gonna go nuts.
Speaker 5 (08:41):
Yeah. I would like to see somebody from the country
side that makes it the end, that gives it a
little bit broader appeal, doesn't it. Yeah, and yeah, they're
well they're actually Keith Urban has said shown some interest.
He said he'd think about coming back if they wanted him. Uh,
you know, they are talking to Lionel Richie too. Apparently
Lionel is like way up there on the list of
somebody they want to get.
Speaker 3 (08:59):
He is so much credibility, He's very energetic in person
first and.
Speaker 4 (09:03):
We haven't seen enough of him lately. It's perfect.
Speaker 5 (09:05):
And they're also looking at Charlie Pooth.
Speaker 4 (09:08):
It's you know, I can see why they want him.
I really can.
Speaker 3 (09:13):
That younger end and all that that's a lot of judges.
Speaker 4 (09:16):
Again, don't they don't go over three will be happy.
Speaker 5 (09:19):
I think it should be three.
Speaker 1 (09:20):
Though.
Speaker 5 (09:21):
The first auditions are coming up August seventeenth, so we're
probably gonna be an announcement by August, you know, August.
For who those judges are.
Speaker 4 (09:28):
That's quick and they need it to be quick.
Speaker 5 (09:30):
And I got a little insight on the next big
Crossroads coming up on CMT Florida Georgia Line and the
Backstreet Boys. Now you know right, they did have that
number one song God, Your Mama and Me. Yeah, and
they have appeared in concert together in a few spots,
so it's not really that big of a surprise that's
(09:52):
expected to come out on August thirtieth.
Speaker 3 (09:54):
So they'll have to do some other stuff though. Well yeah,
because like it's not a surprise for them to be
it goes.
Speaker 5 (10:00):
They do the songs that they've done with together, but
then they each do each other's songs.
Speaker 4 (10:03):
Yes, that's kind of fun. Love that concept.
Speaker 3 (10:05):
Murphy Joy Music News coming up next time. I want
to go back to the kid. We talked about this
all week, big messes that little kids make. I want
to get back to one from my childhood that you
I didn't tell you guys about correctly.
Speaker 4 (10:17):
That might hurt you. We'll do that next.
Speaker 5 (10:23):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (10:23):
I know, Sam says he's single. Along is okay being single.
But you can spend the weekend with Murphy, Sam and Jody.
Speaker 5 (10:28):
I thought you were have to say. You can spend
the week.
Speaker 2 (10:31):
Subscribe to the Murphy Samon Jody podcast, catch anything you
might have missed over the whole week, and enjoy after
the show. That's something exclusively you get when you're a subscriber.
Speaker 3 (10:39):
Okay, all week it's been big messes that little kids make, right,
Okay with.
Speaker 2 (10:44):
That, Yeah, even though they're big messes, though sometimes they're cute, right,
you can't, yeah get mad about it.
Speaker 3 (10:49):
Well, if you have to clean it up, you can
get a little bit thing about it. Anyway, I was
telling you the story of my little I'm sorry, my
big brother Jimmy when we were little, and I remember
hearing this story. I was a baby when this happened,
and I wasn't blamed for it, but I was the
out my mother. Yeah, and I heard this story my
(11:11):
whole life. And I told you guys the other day.
He was a couple of years old. He was like
two years old. He was outside and he'd gotten some
into some paint and with a paint brush. And I
remember telling you I thought that he painted like the
clothes that were on the clothesline.
Speaker 4 (11:26):
Yeah, I was wrong. The story is coming back to me.
Speaker 3 (11:29):
He painted with a paint brush and paint the cars
that were in the driveway.
Speaker 4 (11:34):
So yeah, so I didn't get this.
Speaker 3 (11:37):
I didn't give the story the weight that it deserved
because I was thinking about it on the way home
the other day.
Speaker 4 (11:41):
It is like, it wasn't clothes, it was the car.
Speaker 3 (11:44):
And I know this story because I heard it stories
and families, you know, they tell over and over again.
Speaker 2 (11:50):
How in the world is it possible if you were
an infinite at the time, that you could be even
remotely No, no.
Speaker 3 (11:56):
No, well, okay, the reason that the story was ever
even told because one of those stories, Oh remember, Jimmy
painted the cars and we had to take them to
wherever to get it all off. He he had gotten
into the paint and painted a couple of cars that
were in the driveway. I was a baby, a baby baby,
and I was inside crying my head off, and so
(12:17):
my mom was trying to tend to me. And he
was outside painting cars. And one of the reasons that
the story was told a couple of times because I
can remember my mom saying, then her mother, her mother
in law, our grandmother came over and saw that and said,
you'll learn to watch him.
Speaker 4 (12:34):
Yeah, and that stung her a lot, but she did.
She was trying to its.
Speaker 5 (12:40):
Two kids and I see, so she was watching him
until you started crying.
Speaker 4 (12:44):
Right, So it's my fault. Anyway, my brother did that.
Speaker 3 (12:48):
That's a that's a living as a legendary story in
my family.
Speaker 5 (12:52):
Did they get the paint off?
Speaker 4 (12:54):
Yes, they got the paint off. I don't know how.
Speaker 2 (12:56):
Then there was a time when he was eleven, he
put the car in drive and drove to the living room.
Speaker 1 (13:01):
Oh that's a different story, Jody, you can tell that.
Speaker 6 (13:04):
Coming out Hollywood.
Speaker 3 (13:08):
There's an embarrassing video of Olympic gold medalist Simone Biles
online now.
Speaker 4 (13:14):
But she's the one who released it. Explain that to you.
Speaker 8 (13:17):
Coming up next, Judy's Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 3 (13:22):
How likable is Olympic gold medal winner and just cutie
pie all around someone Biles?
Speaker 4 (13:29):
This video went viral yesterday.
Speaker 3 (13:31):
It was like send out on Twitter of her coming
out of her wisdom teeth surgery, and you know those
are always hysterical. And what's funny is that she's the
one that released it. Now, what's funny is that I
wasn't watching anything yesterday and my teenager Taylor walks up
and goes, mom, when I get my wisdom teeth out
video me, it's hysterical. So Simon Biles is the one
(13:55):
who said, you know what, it's hysterical, release it.
Speaker 4 (13:58):
Oh how cute is she.
Speaker 3 (14:09):
Has her mouthful of gauze, her family's around her, she's
laying back in the bed, but she's trying to get up.
You know that thing that happens to you, like you
think you can do all your normal stuff and you're loopy.
She's pretending to drive a truck. Try to hear that again,
(14:29):
hands going back and forth like on the steering wheel.
Too cute, Simone Biles, she's the one that released that.
When I first thought I thought, wait, somebody released this,
it was her. I've got some Katie Perry news to
add to your music news today, Sam.
Speaker 4 (14:45):
Not just that she's the lead judge on Idle.
Speaker 3 (14:47):
Let me know that. And they're trying to put the
panel the rest of the panel together, probably with her advice,
but that she's the one that let the world know
yesterday that she will host the MTV Video Music Awards
later in all August. That's a big deal.
Speaker 5 (15:02):
It's a big deal for MTV to get her.
Speaker 4 (15:05):
I think so.
Speaker 3 (15:05):
But it's hosting is a big deal, and hosting is
a tough gig. It's not the same thing as opening
the show or just performing. Hosting you're responsible for the
flow of it, the feel, and the energy of it,
the whole way. You get no breaks, right, expect this,
lots of outfit changes because it's Katie Perry. MTV Video
(15:25):
Music Awards will air on MTV of course, August twenty seventh.
Coming up in your next Hollywood outside of this morning,
it's seven fifty five.
Speaker 4 (15:34):
This is exciting.
Speaker 3 (15:35):
Jennifer Aniston is coming back to TV up to date
with Sooty's Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 5 (15:41):
Yeah, of course, we like to bring you all the
fun stuff from past week with our Friday favorites. Jody,
you're up just after seven.
Speaker 4 (15:45):
Oh, mind's a surprise from Usher? Maybe?
Speaker 1 (15:51):
All right, Happy Friday.
Speaker 2 (15:53):
Hope you're gonna have a great weekend ahead, Jody says,
she's got some kind of something surprised for me.
Speaker 3 (15:58):
Please don't build it up too much in your head.
But something you'll be doing for your birthday weekend. I'll
tell you about coming up.
Speaker 4 (16:02):
How about that birthday weekend?
Speaker 2 (16:05):
And so you know, Jody calls every Friday fun Friday,
which I agree with. And we also go back and
look at our favorite moments from the past week.
Speaker 3 (16:11):
Judy's Friday favorite all right, without a doubt, Sam, you
knew this was gonna be mine carpool karaoke with James
Corden this week, and I wasn't ready for it.
Speaker 4 (16:19):
It just popped up and I was like, what Usher
shut a gun now, said, come aget me.
Speaker 3 (16:25):
What. By the way, James Gordon did the rap on
this song with him and a couple of others and
held his own.
Speaker 2 (16:36):
He's amazing, you know what I mean, even his vocal range.
Not that you wouldn't expect that from a late night host,
but man, he really can do it.
Speaker 3 (16:44):
It was amazing. He's more excited than Usher. Okay, So
that was so much fun. It's definitely worth you checking
out and going having a look at it. Okay, but
there's some really cool moments they pull over at one point,
and James asked Usher to teach him how to be
cool and to dance.
Speaker 4 (17:04):
Oh yeah, this I've got this is this is me
and the club.
Speaker 1 (17:07):
Hey, guys, this is yeah. I'm never going to the club.
Speaker 3 (17:18):
And that's correct too. If you got Usher in the car,
you got to get out and watch him move. And
then of course between songs there's some really good conversation.
James Gordon asks him about the rumor that he was vegan.
Speaker 4 (17:31):
I've been trying to, you know, stay away from me.
Speaker 9 (17:34):
Uh huh.
Speaker 5 (17:35):
How's that gone?
Speaker 9 (17:36):
Not so well?
Speaker 10 (17:37):
Really?
Speaker 3 (17:38):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (17:39):
I had some really thin sliced beef yesterday, but I've
been really focused on being a vegan.
Speaker 5 (17:46):
Uh huh.
Speaker 6 (17:48):
I like beef like chicken, but I'm a vegan.
Speaker 5 (17:52):
Okay, Just so you know, that means you're not a vegan.
Speaker 4 (17:56):
They did burn.
Speaker 3 (17:58):
They did all these great songs that you would I
want to see Usher do in the car. It's you know,
and it's what's cool to me is that it surprised me.
I just got here one day. It was like that happened.
Speaker 5 (18:07):
All the songs I'd want to see us You're do
in the car? Huh?
Speaker 7 (18:10):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (18:10):
If he ever hops in with us?
Speaker 1 (18:12):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (18:12):

Yeah, Yeah, And that's concern. You know, I'm so kind
of set in some of my ways that I don't
know if there is going to be a give.
Speaker 4 (19:05):
Sam wants everything his way.
Speaker 9 (19:08):
My mother told me that my father died. My checkbook
and my credit card doesn't talk back to me. Wow,
do what I and I can do what I want
to do.
Speaker 4 (19:22):
Right.
Speaker 3 (19:22):
There are certain people who find an exciting freedom in that.
Speaker 9 (19:27):
You have to be able to do separate things. You
can't be up under each other twenty four to seven.
I couldn't work with my spouse like you.
Speaker 4 (19:36):
Do, Jody.
Speaker 3 (19:37):
Look, you are preaching to the preacher's wife. We have
had there are times when that is a real thing.
Thank goodness, we are really best friends. I agree, but
even well you even need to.
Speaker 9 (19:49):
I'm a nurse, but I work in the in an office.
That's my freedom. Yeah, I say joy listening to y'all show.
She's awesome because you it's refreshing. I appreciate it.
Speaker 1 (20:03):
Well, thank you, Deborah, We appreciate you all right.
Speaker 4 (20:05):
Fifty to fifty Sam Yeah.
Speaker 1 (20:07):
Yeah, I mean I don't know if you're like seventy
thirty right now?
Speaker 4 (20:09):
Maybe Yeah, you know, he's one hundred percent all Sam round.
Speaker 5 (20:12):
I can't believe like what Jody said, eighty twenty and
I got the eighty.
Speaker 4 (20:16):
Yeah, that's what you're looking for.
Speaker 3 (20:18):
Put that on your profile the next time you get
back in the game. Yeah, would you ever get back
in the game minus the online stuff.
Speaker 4 (20:26):
That's how people seem to meet today.
Speaker 1 (20:27):
Perriating websites, right, would you?
Speaker 8 (20:30):
Well?
Speaker 1 (20:30):
Why not?
Speaker 4 (20:31):
Well?
Speaker 3 (20:31):
Used to let friends know if they meet somebody that
you know, because that's how it used to happen the
whole I know somebody who would be perfect for you.
Speaker 2 (20:39):
I'm still making that big prediction, Sam, I'm telling you
it's when you least expect it, because you're not looking
for it. That's when somebody's gonna up here.
Speaker 5 (20:45):
I remember I met somebody at church once.
Speaker 4 (20:48):
Yeah that was the last one.
Speaker 1 (20:50):
Yeah, I got married on April Foy.
Speaker 3 (20:53):
All right, coming up next, we'll do the good thing,
but today it's more like the sweet thing.
Speaker 4 (20:58):
It is a sweet older couple. They've been married for
a long time. Sam. That's something they're doing that's too sweet.
We'll do that next, all.
Speaker 1 (21:06):
Right, So let's put something positive and uplifting in your Friday.
Speaker 6 (21:09):
Could news Shody's good thing? I need some cool.
Speaker 3 (21:14):
All right? Look, this is actually more like the sweet
thing instead of the good thing today, more like the
sweet thing.
Speaker 4 (21:20):
This is the cutest thing.
Speaker 3 (21:22):
There's this elderly couple that are about to reach a milestone,
and maybe they're the only ones in the country to
do this. They love Cracker Barrel restaurants. Yeah, and they
have been to every single location in their sixty year
marriage except for one. And they've got one more to
go to wow Ray and Wilma. So they they love.
(21:43):
They started going. They they said they've started going. Started
going in the sixties. These things were around in the sixties,
not alwa the country.
Speaker 2 (21:52):
But a lot of change weren't that widespread. You know
that fifty years ago.
Speaker 5 (21:56):
I believe. I ate it some in the seventies with
my parents on vacation.
Speaker 2 (21:59):
So do they not have some sort of VIP status
right now? They should never have to wait on a
list at any pressure.
Speaker 3 (22:06):
Again, I think that they should be part of the marketing,
like they should do a special you know, commercial with
them or whatever. The first time I ever had I've
told you the story before, Murphy. The reason that that's
kind of special to me Cracker Barrel is because we
didn't discover it until that one big family vacation we
took when I was a little girl into the National
(22:28):
Smokies the National Park there and on the way there
is where we discovered that. My dad it was the
first time he said this looks interesting, old country store.
Let's go in, and he was hooked. He loved the experience.
Speaker 1 (22:41):
I still love the experience of the score part.
Speaker 3 (22:44):
I mean, do you remember it, because I remember that
the being the whole gift shop out front, but it
certainly wasn't as full as it is today.
Speaker 5 (22:51):
It was just, you know, whenever I travel, I always
look up restaurants ahead of time to know where I
want to go eat in cities. When I was a
kid and we're going to the Smoke, he's one year
my dad did that. He knew whether he heard of
the place. He's like, I want to go try this.
I want to take us all there because this is
supposed to be great. And that's the first time we ate.
Speaker 4 (23:10):
I want to say that was my first experience with
like biscuits and.
Speaker 3 (23:13):
A bowl showing up on the.
Speaker 4 (23:16):
Table like here you just get these for sitting down.
Speaker 1 (23:19):
Wow. So how old is the couple if they've been
married for.
Speaker 3 (23:22):
Six days years may I don't have their ages, but
they're an elderly couple.
Speaker 4 (23:26):
She said.
Speaker 3 (23:27):
They've never had a bad experience. He said, we always
walk away feeling refreshed. We can't wait to have you know,
experience that one final cracker barrel that we never have?
Speaker 1 (23:36):
Did they say which one is the final? Last one?
Speaker 4 (23:38):
Portland, Oregon?
Speaker 5 (23:39):
Really maybe they should name a dish after him. Huh.
Speaker 4 (23:42):
Yeah, they probably had everything on the menu too. Isn't
that so sweet? It's not. It's just the sweet thing
instead of the.
Speaker 1 (23:49):
But I think that's a good thing too.
Speaker 8 (23:51):
A lot coming up next to the family friendly box
office review.
Speaker 10 (23:56):
Right.
Speaker 3 (23:56):
Two new movies, one that a lot of dudes have
waited for all year.
Speaker 2 (24:02):
Be sure to subscribe to the Murphy Samon Joy podcast
and catch after the show something exclusive that we do
for you just by being a subscriber. Today, Producer Bailey
unfortunately made his first mistake. He's not a big one,
but it's a mistake. Yeah, that's coming up after the
show today when you subscribe to the Murphy, Sam and
Jody Podcast.
Speaker 3 (24:19):
New movies this week Murphy, Sam and Jody hand one
friendly box office review.
Speaker 4 (24:24):
Are you ready Sam for your girlfriend's movie? You're gonna
go see this? You need to?
Speaker 5 (24:28):
Yeah? I might go.
Speaker 3 (24:28):
The action motion picture starring Charlie's Staron is an undercover
am I six agent Atomic Blonde.
Speaker 6 (24:36):
I Chose this life and someday it's going to get
me killed.
Speaker 4 (24:44):
It just looks super cool and no. Producer David is
super excited about seeing it.
Speaker 3 (24:47):
I am excited about seeing it, although I may not
be allowed to do anything, but you know, hang with
Murphy for the Birby Birthday weekend.
Speaker 1 (24:54):
If you want to do that, you can see that movie.
Speaker 5 (24:57):
She like a female James Bond because I haven't trailer.
Speaker 3 (25:00):
If you want to sum the summation, Yeah, it's based
on the graphic novel. She prepared for a long time.
It's been in development for five years. She prepared physically
for this. She had eight personal trainers to help her
master the intensely physical performance. All the fighting scenes. She
did as much of it as she possibly could. She
trained also with Keanu Reeves, who was preparing for a
(25:22):
John Wick chapter two dude, so they fought together and
really true story.
Speaker 4 (25:28):
She cracked two teeth while filming.
Speaker 1 (25:29):
Oh herbody else.
Speaker 3 (25:32):
She cracked her own teeth all filming, So you know,
she's been to the dentist for Atomic Blonde.
Speaker 4 (25:38):
It just looks like the female James of James Bond.
Speaker 2 (25:41):
But she's built for that kind of role too. She's
a natural. You believe her in that role.
Speaker 3 (25:45):
I mean, yeah, I think she's kind of a battie.
We also have for everybody in the family. The animated
the Emoji movie.
Speaker 1 (25:52):
Welcome does a loser lounge where the emojis who never
get used hang out.
Speaker 4 (26:00):
Make you guys.
Speaker 3 (26:00):
Some of those voices Sam Ing James Gordon is in
this one love It. Anna faris also funny. Sophia Vergara
jumping out at you, Christina Aguilera even Yeah, Okay, it's animated.
It's about Gene, a multi expressional emoji who sets out
to become a normal emoji.
Speaker 4 (26:17):
I know.
Speaker 1 (26:18):
I saw the trailers for it. It looks like it could
be cute.
Speaker 5 (26:21):
I yes, I died at Angry Birds until I went
and saw it.
Speaker 3 (26:23):
You're shaking your head. But kids today identify with emojis.
It's not just something to put at the end of
a cute text.
Speaker 5 (26:30):
Oh do I identify with their little brown one? But anyway,
Atomic Blond is rated The R and Emoji Movie PG.
Speaker 6 (26:36):
Murphy Sam Judy Family Friendly Box Office Review.
Speaker 3 (26:40):
Okay, it's Murphy's birthday weekend, so I thought i'd fill
you in on something that you are doing for your weekend.
Speaker 4 (26:46):
We do that next.
Speaker 3 (26:49):
Okay, So on a fun Friday, we always do this
little round the table about who's doing what this weekend? Sam,
before we get to Murphy because it's his birthday weekend,
even though his birthday's Monday.
Speaker 1 (26:59):
Hell, love the way you say as though it's not
a real thing. You know what I mean? You know that, Sam,
she's all She did the.
Speaker 3 (27:05):
Air quot so we first know when we first started
all this, I had plans for Monday, but since you
declared birthday weekend, we're doing Sunday and Monday. So we're
gonna get to what you're doing Sunday. What are you
doing this weekend?
Speaker 9 (27:17):
Sam?
Speaker 5 (27:18):
Well, I don't have the kids this weekend, so I'm
just gonna be single. I don't know how much I
like that.
Speaker 3 (27:22):
Do whatever you want to do right one hundred percent
what Sam wants?
Speaker 4 (27:26):
Okay, are you ready for what the plan is?
Speaker 3 (27:28):
I just this is not some huge surprise, This is
not some trip or anything like that. This is it's
gonna be. So it's gonna seem so light. But I've
never seen you happier than when your family is together.
And your family they're wonderful, but they don't they haven't
gotten together a lot lately, and so the families. Your
(27:49):
family are all coming over Sunday. It's awesome to celebrate
your birthday.
Speaker 1 (27:53):
I love that.
Speaker 2 (27:53):
Well, you know, I mean since we lost my mom,
you know, a year and a half ago or whatever,
everybody's kind of busy doing their own thing, and so
we got to see each other individually.
Speaker 1 (28:01):
We don't really see each other as a group.
Speaker 3 (28:02):
Yes, now your brother is out of town, so he
won't be there. Sorry, I can't do anything about that.
Speaker 2 (28:08):
Well, that doesn't leave many more people, So well, your
family really isn't getting the know they are.
Speaker 3 (28:15):
Your dad is going to be there, your sister and
her family will be there Sunday afternoon. We're going to
have some you know, things to enjoy while you're there,
cake and stuff. But I'm going to tell you much
about that because the girls are very particular about that
helping me figure that out. But if you want to
extend it out to more people, we will absolutely do that.
The reason I decided to go ahead and give you
(28:36):
a heads up today is because if you want to
get some vacation videos ready to show to show them,
I know you want to show your dad and the
Paul McCartney stuff that we went to see him in concert,
you know, if you want to get all that together.
Speaker 4 (28:47):
Okay, there you go.
Speaker 1 (28:48):
Yeah, it's weird.
Speaker 2 (28:49):
It's more difficult and maybe I just don't have everything
wired up as it should be. It's more difficult for
me to show family videos now in the digital world
that it used to be sticking a tape in a
VCR is everything's on your phone, probably because it's scattered
around and their pieces and parts, you know. Yeah, and
then when they want to do like the flashback old
stuff from you know, the early days childhood, some of
that stuff hasn't been transferred yet, you know.
Speaker 1 (29:10):
Anyway, So yeah, okay, cool.
Speaker 3 (29:12):
That's in our house Sunday afternoon, your birthday party with
your family, most.
Speaker 1 (29:18):
Of them, right, thank you, So there'll be room for you, Sam, if.
Speaker 6 (29:21):
You want to come coming out Hollywood.
Speaker 3 (29:25):
Big news for Jennifer Aniston. She is officially coming back
to TV. Tell you about that show next.
Speaker 8 (29:33):
Jody's Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 4 (29:35):
Super excited to tell you about this.
Speaker 3 (29:36):
Jennifer Aniston is coming back to TV with Reese Witherspoon
in a show How Do you Like This? It's a
series revolving around two morning TV show host ladies, you know,
based in New York City. So it's being shopped right now,
possibly HBO or another streaming service. So this is a long,
(30:00):
a big deal for Jennifer Aniston. She hasn't come back
to TV since Friends ended in two thousand and four.
Speaker 5 (30:05):
One Another Movies really did that well?
Speaker 4 (30:08):
I know, I hate that for her because I expected
it to.
Speaker 5 (30:11):
But Wed Reese Witherspoon, I don't think it's ever done
like a continuous TV series.
Speaker 3 (30:16):
Not continuous she Now, look, she's got to deal with
HBO right now. They want another big little lies and
that was her project, and I think the author of
those books is working on a second season anyway. Reese
Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston worked together on that one or
two hilarious episodes of Friends when Reese Witherspoon guest starred
in high school.
Speaker 4 (30:37):
Oh stop, you stop moutup?
Speaker 6 (30:42):
Okay, well did I sit here? And then you'll both
stop it?
Speaker 4 (30:45):
Did you ever get that far? Sam? Oh my gosh,
they're so hysterical.
Speaker 3 (30:50):
Reese Witherspoon played Rachel's sister, one of the sisters who
was started getting very flirty with Ross and you can
imagine how uncomfortable that was. It was hysterical. So they
love each other. They worked together well. Jennifer Aniston even
said once that Reese Witherspoon actually felt like her little sister.
So those two have signed on. We don't know where
the show is going to land, but I think that's
a big deal for Jennifer Aniston. All right, Speaking of HBO,
(31:14):
when True Detective came along, boy just knocked our socks off.
Speaker 4 (31:17):
And I do mean the first.
Speaker 3 (31:18):
Season, the first season, yeah, with Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson.
Woody was so overshadowed because Maddie was so good, but
Woody was great.
Speaker 5 (31:27):
Yeah, he was.
Speaker 3 (31:28):
I still get spooked when I think about that first season.
Speaker 4 (31:31):
It was so well to.
Speaker 3 (31:34):
Out there, Okay season he was and he earned every
spec of respect he got for that. So they're talking
about over at HBO doing a season three that everybody's
going to want to see because season two sort of flopped.
And they've also talked about getting actor maherschela Ali signed
on to do it. You know him maybe as Remy
from House of Cards and also Moonlight that your.
Speaker 5 (31:56):
Head reached the monad La I got to Ay won
an oscar for that, didn't he best supporting actor for that?
Speaker 4 (32:03):
I love him? He is really good.
Speaker 3 (32:05):
No matter what he does on True Detective Free, I'll
be there for it. Coming up in Your Next Outsider.
At eight thirty this morning, Who released a pretty unflattering
video of Olympic gold medalist Simone Biles.
Speaker 6 (32:17):
Up to date with Judy's Hollywood out sign it.
Speaker 4 (32:20):
Sam, You're next with your Friday Favorite.
Speaker 5 (32:21):
Oh yeah, it's something fun, stuff you can do on
your smartphone, but only if it's an iPhone.
Speaker 2 (32:29):
Happy Friday. I always have fun on Fridays because we
look back over the week. Jody's Friday Favorite last hour,
in case you missed it, was carpool Karaoke. James Gordon
got to hang out with Usher, which is pretty cool
for sure.
Speaker 1 (32:39):
Maybe Yeah, So we've.
Speaker 2 (32:40):
Got that at Murphy Samonjody dot com, or you can
go back and listen to it on the Murphy, Sam
and Jody podcast. So Sam's up next.
Speaker 6 (32:46):
Sam's Friday Favorite.
Speaker 5 (32:48):
I've seen this one bouncing around all week, so I
just had to try it. And this is something you
can only do with an iPhone. Sorry, Murphy and.
Speaker 4 (32:55):
Jody, It's okay, okay, no problem.
Speaker 5 (32:59):
If you start off, or you say a certain lyric
from Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody, Siri into Siri on your iPhone
for some reason, now Siri just takes off and runs
with it. And no, really and and you know almost,
I mean, this thing goes on forever and ever her
finishing lyrics. Wow, we're gonna try it right now. I
(33:20):
see a little silhouette of a man.
Speaker 6 (33:23):
Scara mouche, scaremounch.
Speaker 11 (33:25):
Will you do the fan Dago thunderbolt and lightning, very
very frightening me. Galileo Galileo, Galileo, Galileo, Galileo, Hegaro magnifico.
Speaker 6 (33:35):
I'm just a poor assistant. Nobody loves.
Speaker 1 (33:38):
That's her little, her little twisting.
Speaker 11 (33:41):
Spirit, its life from this monstrosity. Easy come, easy go.
Will you let me go, miss Miller? No, we will
not let you go. Let it go, miss Miller.
Speaker 1 (33:50):
Wow, it goes on for Why not?
Speaker 4 (33:53):
We would say, let you go, let me go.
Speaker 1 (33:55):
And so no matter where you start, she picks him
down there.
Speaker 5 (33:58):
You have to start with that. I see, I see
little silhouettel of them.
Speaker 3 (34:01):
Okay, let me tell you this. You said it's for
some reason. I'm gonna tell you what the reason is.
The reason is Alexa. Yeah, yeah, this is series you know,
answer to. I've got an assistant over here too, right, Yeah.
Speaker 2 (34:14):
Because alexas loaded with plenty of comedy as you know.
Speaker 4 (34:17):
Yeah, Alexa, I'll tell you a joke.
Speaker 5 (34:19):
I'll tell you what you do Chuck Norris jokes on Alexa.
I haven't tried that, Yeah you say, Alexa, tell me
a uh oh yeah.
Speaker 2 (34:26):
Remember whenever Sam does that, everybody everybody's Amazon echo.
Speaker 5 (34:30):
But why not try it? Alexa, tell me a Chuck
Norris joke and you get a random have to wait
for her to finish with that, So okay, good? Yeah,
so try it on your Siri today.
Speaker 6 (34:42):
Sam's Friday favorite.
Speaker 3 (34:44):
All right, coming up more big miss it, big message
that little kids have made. And I wanted to tell
you guys about the biggest one that ever happened in
my family that might have just been my fault.
Speaker 2 (34:57):
Yeah, I know, Sam says he's singling on It's okay
being single. But you can spend the weekend with Murphy
Sam and Jody.
Speaker 5 (35:02):
I thought you were have to say you can spend
the week Subscribe.
Speaker 1 (35:06):
To the Murphy Samon Jody Podcast.
Speaker 2 (35:07):
Catch anything you might have missed over the whole week,
and enjoy after the show that something exclusively you get
when you're a subscriber.
Speaker 3 (35:13):
Okay, all week it's been big messes that little kids make, right,
Okay with that.
Speaker 2 (35:18):
Yeah, even though they're big messes, though sometimes they're cute. Right,
you can't, yeah, get mad about it.
Speaker 3 (35:23):
Well, if you have to clean it up, you can
get a little bit thing about it. Anyway, I was
telling you the story of my little I'm sorry, my
big brother Jimmy when we were little, and I remember
hearing this story. I was a baby when this happened,
and I wasn't blamed for it, but I was the
out my mother. Yeah, my, and I heard this story
(35:45):
my whole life. And I told you guys the other day.
He was a couple of years old, he was like
two years old. He was outside and he'd gotten some
into some paint and with a paint brush. And I
remember telling you I thought that he painted like the
clothes that were on the clothesline.
Speaker 4 (36:00):
Yeah, I was wrong. The story is coming back to me.
Speaker 3 (36:03):
He painted with a paint brush and paint the cars
that were in the driveway.
Speaker 4 (36:08):
So yeah, I.
Speaker 1 (36:10):
Didn't give this.
Speaker 3 (36:11):
I didn't give the story the weight that it deserved
because I was thinking about it on the way home
the other day.
Speaker 4 (36:16):
Is like, it wasn't closed, it was the car.
Speaker 3 (36:18):
And I know this story because I heard it stories
and families, you know, they tell over and over again.
Speaker 2 (36:24):
How in the world is it possible if you were
an infinite at the time, that you could be even remotely.
Speaker 3 (36:30):
No, no, no, well, okay, the reason that the story was
ever even told is because one of those stories. Oh remember,
Jimmy painted the cars and we had to take them
to wherever to get it all off. He had gotten
into the paint and painted a couple of cars that
were in the driveway. I was a baby, a baby baby,
and I was inside crying my head off, and so
(36:51):
my mom was trying to tend to me, and he
was outside painting cars.
Speaker 4 (36:55):
And one of the reasons.
Speaker 3 (36:56):
That the story was told a couple of times because
I can remember my mom saying, then her mother, her
mother in law, our grandmother, came over and saw that
and said, you'll learn to watch him.
Speaker 4 (37:08):
Yeah, And that stung her a lot, but she did.
Speaker 3 (37:11):
She was trying to It's two kids, and I see
so she was watching him until you started crying. Right,
So it's my fault. Anyway, My brother did that. That's
a that's a living as a legendary story in my family.
Speaker 5 (37:26):
Did they get the paint off?
Speaker 4 (37:28):
Yes, they got the paint off. I don't know how.
Speaker 2 (37:30):
Then there was the time when he was eleven he
put the car in drive and drove through the living room.
Speaker 1 (37:35):
Oh that's a different story, read Jody.
Speaker 3 (37:37):
You can tell that coming up next with Murphy Sam
And Jody wasn't going to tell that story. But since
you brought it up, my sweet brother, since you brought
it up, Yes, he drove a car into a house,
but I don't think it was his fault. I'll explain
coming up. I want to shout out to my brother
here a second, because we were talking about him when
(37:57):
he was.
Speaker 4 (37:57):
A little boy. Brother, Jimmy, Jimmy.
Speaker 3 (38:00):
His name is James, though I think the Jimmy thing
is a family thing, only because when I see him
out in public, it's like, oh, you're James's sister.
Speaker 4 (38:08):
Oh okay, so.
Speaker 1 (38:09):
She's not Jodie. She's James's sister.
Speaker 4 (38:11):
That's right.
Speaker 3 (38:12):
When we go to his places anyway. Okay, so we're
telling you about the biggest we're talking kid messes, big
messes that kids made when they were little. And he
got into some paint when he was two years old
and painted the cars two cars from I understand our driveway.
Speaker 2 (38:28):
Well, and when you mentioned that a minute ago and
it went from being clothes is the way you we
called it to the car, I'm like, whoa, that's a
big difference.
Speaker 3 (38:35):
Well, I was a baby inside, so's I've heard this
story over the years.
Speaker 4 (38:38):
I was a baby. I'm younger than him.
Speaker 3 (38:41):
Sorry, so the siblings have to do that anyway, I'm
younger than him. But you had mentioned at the end,
Murphy that when he was eleven. I wasn't going to
talk about this, But when he was eleven, he accidentally
ran the car into the house. Right, he drove the
car into the house. Okay, like that actually happened too.
Speaker 2 (39:02):
Well, that's a story that jumps out of me because
that doesn't happen every day.
Speaker 1 (39:05):
That's a big deal. Right, how did you get the keys?
Speaker 4 (39:08):
They gave him the keys. Here's the deal. This is
shout out to him.
Speaker 3 (39:12):
I don't think this is his fault. I mean, looking
back on this, they used My brother was always super
interested in learning to and driving, and so he was
when he was a little kid, he was on my
papa's lap driving the lawn more and then as soon
as he could, he was driving a car, like as
soon as he could, and I'm talking about it out
in the country, you know, driving the car. So when
it was something, I think my dad and I had
(39:33):
swept the carport and so we'd taken the cars out
to really clean the carport good, and then it was
time to bring them back in to drive the cars
back into the carport. And he wanted to do it
because he loved to drive. And he was probably I
say eleven, maybe he was ten, I don't know. I
don't remember, but I remember the day like yesterday because
(39:53):
my dad walked in. Nobody was watching him, nobody was
with him.
Speaker 1 (39:57):
Why would nobody be watched him? Did you your dad
give him the keys?
Speaker 3 (40:01):
Yes, And as soon as we heard the crashing the
wall coming in, and we knew exactly what had happened,
and he was upset and they were upset. But I
remember thinking he shouldn't have been allowed to do that
right now, and that's a mistake. They made a mistake,
and obviously they paid for it with construction.
Speaker 1 (40:21):
I would bruise my behind kicking myself so hard that one.
Speaker 4 (40:24):
Number one s out out to my brother for that.
Speaker 5 (40:26):
He gave him the keys. But also if you're going
to do that.
Speaker 4 (40:29):
In the cars.
Speaker 6 (40:34):
Coming up.
Speaker 3 (40:37):

She was just pretending to drive a big truck ow
her family's around her lovingly making sure she doesn't fall
out of that bed. But she got her mouth full
of gauze and pretending to drive a truck.
Speaker 4 (41:31):

Man, she was talented and to live that long of
a life. Yeah, you know, everything comes back. I don't
mean fashion, how everything like in entertainment comes I can
get done.
