Speaker 1 (00:00):
Murphy, Sam and Jody after the show, thank you for
hanging out with us another episode. And you know today, Sam,
I wouldn't call it an intervention. Jody actually had a
great idea, and this is the kind of thing that
I would like.

Speaker 2 (00:12):
You're trying to sell it, yeah, I mean I would
do myself.

Speaker 1 (00:14):
I'm just having a couple of days ago. Remember I
mentioned when you tackle a room and it's just like cluttered,
you don't know where.

Speaker 2 (00:20):
To start, right, and so of the clutter, it's too much.

Speaker 1 (00:23):
And so at the home office that I'm working out
of over the years is just collected stuff and it's
not what's the worry, Jodey. I mean when I when
I clean it up, it's okay, but there's still too
much stuff.

Speaker 3 (00:35):
Even when it's clean on its best day, there's too
much stuff in there. I'm glad that you actually admit that, Yeah,
it's too much. And I do think that you have
accumulated too much stuff that you, for some reason have
an attachment to. So you either need to make a
decision to get rid of some of it or better organize.
And I have a friend who actually does this. She's

(00:56):
an organizing business and she's never come to help us
us yet, but like she can.

Speaker 2 (01:03):
She'll come do like.

Speaker 3 (01:03):
One area of your house, or she'll do you know,
your whole house with you, but you're gonna she doesn't
just do it and leave and then you're good. I
think she's about teaching you.

Speaker 4 (01:13):
Well, she's gonna have to teach right, see, because you
can't just organize it and not tell him where everything is.

Speaker 1 (01:19):
Well, I'm wondering if it's going to be the blend
of okay, you know, helping you decide what you need
to keep them with you don't combined with how do
you put stuff away? And look, this is not if
you have this organized on a shelf, you'd be better
off getting a shelf with doors and close it off.

Speaker 5 (01:31):
That kind of advice too, and I'm all for that.

Speaker 3 (01:34):
I do believe she is going to make you take
a serious look and please don't worry about this, but
I do think she's going to help you figure out
about the things that you really don't need to keep
and that will just open up. Imagine walking into a
brand new workspace that's ready for you, but almost wide
open except for what you actually need. That is glorious

(01:56):
to me. That's like slipping in the clean sheets.

Speaker 1 (01:58):
This is not a very big room. And one thing
that's in it is a desk that my grandmother had then.
I just it's sentimental.

Speaker 4 (02:05):
It's not.

Speaker 5 (02:05):
It is not.

Speaker 1 (02:06):
There's nothing fancy about this desk, you know. In fact,
it's like it's kind of like an old computer desk,
back when they had dot matrix printers with a stackable paper.
It's got that little storage thing underneath it. But the
desk is I don't know, it's sweet. I can't bring
myself to get rid of the desk. There's a lamp
that I really don't know where it goes anywhere, no house.
One of them broke the other one.

Speaker 3 (02:24):
Get ship it to Hollywood and they could use it
in They're Madman, which.

Speaker 2 (02:27):
One of the mad Men remake.

Speaker 1 (02:28):
It's They call it a volcano style lamp, if you
remember those, that's really tall lamp showed shades in the bottom,
looks like lava's kind of dripping across it.

Speaker 5 (02:36):
It's ceramic, but that's.

Speaker 3 (02:38):
What it is.

Speaker 2 (02:39):
So also stacks of albums.

Speaker 5 (02:42):
And you know what, I didn't have any albums until
I did that garage shit. I remember they bought those recently.
So and I don't want to let go of those
right now. And that's what I realized this is going
to be very successful.

Speaker 1 (02:53):
A digital music library takes up a lot less room
than anything traditional CDs.

Speaker 4 (02:58):
Or Yeah, but there's something about heaven and an album.
I know it's one thing transfer.

Speaker 1 (03:02):
And so hopefully she will help me organize some of that.
But I've just got piles of some things that are
just aren't.

Speaker 3 (03:08):
You do have piles everywhere, even on top of your
grandmother's desk. You notice you have a ton of books
sitting up like some of those may need to be
put somewhere else or do you need those or can
those be you know, donated?

Speaker 1 (03:20):
And you know what, when I put those lots there,
I'm thinking, well, these are the ones I'll be likely
to read the most, and I haven't. I haven't touched
one of those books, so yeah, they probably need to
be moved.

Speaker 3 (03:29):
Also, I'm very curious to see I think this will
be great for your your workspace, your office, your man
cave as I call it, but it hopefully can help
you in every other you know, because you do have
a lot of stuff everywhere.

Speaker 4 (03:43):
I know, is this going to be a simple, active
reshuffling out or getting rid of stuff, hopefully getting you
can take some of that stuff and put it in
the attic or in a storage area, or I'm thinking of.

Speaker 5 (03:55):
I meaning Jodie's going to be lobbying for things to be.

Speaker 3 (03:58):
I am going to stay out. These are your things. Honestly,
I'm going to stay out of it. But this room,
we're in the middle of our house. I'd be all
up in it, but it's it's your man cave. It's
out of the way. I mean completely out of the way.

Speaker 1 (04:12):
So you know, the real reason I agree to this,
the absolute real reason that I've agreed to do this,
is because I have tried to retool this space so
many times.

Speaker 5 (04:21):
I can't see clearly you know what I mean? Have
you ever done.

Speaker 1 (04:25):
You're so familiar with all of it, and you're so
biased towards the things you want to keep. I literally
need somebody with a fresh set of bias and say, well,
I mean, all you have to do is put it
behind the you know, the doors of the cabinet or whatever.

Speaker 5 (04:36):
You know.

Speaker 3 (04:36):
One of our friend, one of our friends had or
come over and redo the pantry and the kitchen and
a storage area of her house and she said it
was life changing.

Speaker 2 (04:45):
Really yeah, So I'm so excited.

Speaker 1 (04:48):
Wow, Okay, I'm ready for some life changing organization as
long as they get to keep everything.

Speaker 2 (04:55):
Missed any part of the show.
