Speaker 1 (00:03):
So much going on this morning. First of all, hello
and welcome to Friday the thirteenth.
Speaker 2 (00:08):
Friday the thirteenth, Yay.
Speaker 1 (00:10):
How cool is it to have a Friday the thirteenth
in October? It's soprious.
Speaker 2 (00:14):
We don't have another until April coming up.
Speaker 1 (00:17):
Ah, I'm not scared of the day. You know, We've
talked about this before over the years. A lot of
people are a lot of people will be leaving the
house today. You mean, like Murphy, Well, Murphy's not with
us today because he is sick.
Speaker 2 (00:30):
Yeah, under the weather.
Speaker 1 (00:31):
I'm hoping it's going to pass quickly. It's something that
kind of went through our house starting with our teenager.
Speaker 2 (00:35):
Tailor keyword there being went through and I will.
Speaker 1 (00:40):
So bad, Sam, I'm staying away from Murphy a little
bit like distance, but I'm taking care of my child.
I mean, I've got to.
Speaker 3 (00:47):
You know.
Speaker 2 (00:47):
It's weird, is you know? Looking into the Friday the
thirteenth stuff, I found out that in America we lose
about eight to nine hundred million dollars in business today.
Because of that, we have some people that are so
super stous they won't fly today, they won't drive, they
won't leave the house, they won't do business today. Yeah,
just based on a superstition, whether it's true or not.
Speaker 1 (01:09):
Well, it's something that that's from long ago, and that's
what the world. You relied on superstition. Now we have more.
Speaker 2 (01:16):
Well yeah, well now we have fake news.
Speaker 1 (01:19):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:21):
One of the things we do like to do during
the week is flashing back to some of the upbeat
times and the good stuff that's happened during the week.
And this one happened Sam over the weekend this past weekend.
Speaker 3 (01:32):
Sam's Friday favorite.
Speaker 2 (01:34):
And it's not necessarily because of a good thing. Because
Tom Petty passed away last Monday due to the cardiacs
cardiac arrest and he's from Greenesville, Florida. Home team Florida
Gators had a game this past Saturday, and between the
third and third and the fourth quarters, the teams you know,
taking a little break playing some music on the field,
(01:56):
and they decided to play a Tom Petty song. What
was really cool, though, is that all the fans chimed
end in the entire stadium was singing I medio dude.
Speaker 1 (02:10):
Yeah, that's a good feeling. Well back down just to
sing it together as a crowd. Yeah, it's like a
little unified feeling for a few there anyway.
Speaker 2 (02:23):
So that's my Friday favorite for today.
Speaker 1 (02:25):
Like it a lot, a lot of good stuff coming
up for you just after seven today. What you should
and should not do when going through a haunted house
this weekend, Straight from one of the monsters inside. A
friend of mine who works in a haunted house.
Speaker 4 (02:38):
Coming up, Jody finds the good news today today.
Speaker 1 (02:42):
Yeah, the news in the world can get you down,
but there's always as much good stuff going on. Are
more so I want to highlight that one of the
hero is going to highlight him for you next from
the Vegas shootings. A little different around here for today,
Friday the thirteenth, because Murphy is out. Well, more on
(03:03):
that later Right now, it's time to focus.
Speaker 5 (03:05):
On the good.
Speaker 3 (03:06):
Stuffy showed he's a good thing, all right.
Speaker 1 (03:11):
We all need some good news, and there's always a
lot of good stuff going on. It just doesn't always
get the light needed. So you may have heard about this,
but I want to tell you a little bit more
about this marine who was in Las Vegas the night
of the mass shooting. And you may have heard about it.
In fact, I remember this being one of the hero
type first hero stories I heard.
Speaker 2 (03:30):
Yeah, there were a number of different hero stories that
came out surrounding that, about people who are I guess
not normally heroes that just jumped in and did something.
Speaker 1 (03:38):
Oh more than we know. There's so much more to come.
But his name is Taylor Winston. About how about for
that name for one second? What a great name that is.
But Taylor, he's a marine. He saw that there were
critically injured people all around him and there were not
enough ambulances. There literally were not enough our first responders
to help everybody. So he saw this, started looking for
a truck, found a truck, and drove people to hospitals.
(04:03):
He found a truck with keys in it. He's spoken
to the media several times about that.
Speaker 6 (04:07):
Typically during a festival, multiple people use a truck and
they tend to leave keys. And I was hoping that
was the case, and lucked out on the first truck,
opened the door and the keys are there, and looked
at Jen and said, let's go get some people. And
you went back towards a gunfire, and you.
Speaker 7 (04:26):
And an angel looking for you to find the keys
in the truck the first one you tried, and then
you started to transport how many people to a local hospital?
Speaker 6 (04:38):
Each trip was ten to fifteen people, as may as
we could cram in there.
Speaker 2 (04:42):
Wow.
Speaker 1 (04:42):
Yeah. Counting it down, they think he drove about thirty
critically injured people to the hospital. So thirty people who
really are going to be reaching out to try to
meet him and find him in these coming days as
they recover, but locally for him in his hometown. He's
been given now from B five Motor is a car dealership,
a brand new F one fifty troll for himself. So
(05:05):
and what he's going to do with that, He's grateful
for it. He doesn't think he deserves it or needs it.
He just did what he needed to do at the time.
But he's going to sell his old truck and give
the money to some victims.
Speaker 2 (05:14):
Man, how cool is that.
Speaker 8 (05:17):
That?
Speaker 1 (05:17):
So we're going to keep highlighting those.
Speaker 2 (05:19):
Four news and that is good news for this Friday.
Speaker 1 (05:23):
Coming up next a little bit more about why Murphy
is not with us because he's sick today, but what
that's going to mean from my weekend too, that's next
a little different around here for this fun Friday, because
our Murphy is not with us today. He's sick.
Speaker 2 (05:41):
Yeah, what's crazy. They always use under the weather.
Speaker 1 (05:44):
Oh yeah, oh yeah. Okay, So here's the deal. I
was worried about this. I thought we were in the clear.
But so earlier this week, one of Taylor's friends, well,
her parents were going to be out of town.
Speaker 2 (05:54):
You're six year old?
Speaker 1 (05:56):
Yeah, my sixteen o sixteen year old Taylor. So we
had another sixteen year old the house. We're just letting
her stay with us for a couple of nights. Sweet girl.
She got sick while she was here, so we did
our best. I did my best to take care of her.
Her parents came back early, so she ended up only
staying one night with us, so.
Speaker 2 (06:14):
Nobody in the house was sick until she brought it in.
Speaker 1 (06:17):
Well, it's not her fault.
Speaker 2 (06:18):
I'm not accusing anybody now, that's not her fault.
Speaker 1 (06:21):
I mean, it just life, it's life. In fact, I
felt horrible for her because it's miserable to be sick.
It's miserable to be sick away from your mom and
your home. Yeah, so we did the best. I did
the best I could, you know, for her, But I'm
not her mother, but I mothered her right. So I
thought we were in the clear because the whole day,
like a whole twenty four hours went by and we
(06:41):
were all fine, and then our Taylor got sick and
that was so hard. But she got sick and so
we took care of her as well, and then what
do you know, Murphy too, oh, at like three in
the morning.
Speaker 2 (06:55):
So what's frustrating about these kind of things, though, is
the fact that you can't just go to the doctor
and say, give me this to fix it, because it's
you just got to write it.
Speaker 1 (07:03):
Out, you do. It has to work its course or whatever.
Taylor's already better. Yeah, okay, Murphy's not yet. But I'm
thinking that my weekend is going to be a very tiptoey.
I'm going to be cleaning like a mad woman. Yeah,
possibly keeping my distance, my arm's length distance from him
and cleaning like a mad woman because this means Phoebe
(07:24):
and I are still standing.
Speaker 2 (07:25):
Yeah, is sphoedee concern?
Speaker 1 (07:27):
Yes, she has so much plan this weekend with school
and extracurricular stuff. She is very worried. She's also arm's
length love you. But yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, that's what we're.
Speaker 2 (07:39):
Doing, keeping everybody behind closed doors this weekend kind of.
Speaker 3 (07:42):
Yeah. Sam has music News.
Speaker 2 (07:44):
I'm going to tell you how coming soon your smartphone
is going to be taken over by Taylor Swift.
Speaker 1 (07:52):
Do whatever you gotta do to safeguard yourself. Today, it's
Friday the thirteenth, Still a fun Friday around here, except
that Murphy is not with us because he's not feeling.
Speaker 2 (08:01):
Well well sick today at home.
Speaker 1 (08:03):
That's all I'll tell you.
Speaker 2 (08:04):
We'll carry on.
Speaker 3 (08:05):
Sam's got music News.
Speaker 2 (08:07):
There's this new app that's gonna be coming out soon
called the swift Life app for Taylor Swift. You made
me to swift Light and it's gonna be before the
end of this year, so it's got to be coming
out soon. And what she's done is she's working with
a company that did the Kim Kardashian app, Yeah, Katie
Perry app, Britney app too, and they're making tons of
(08:28):
money on this deal. Hers is not to be like
playing a game and making money, but it's gonna be everything.
It's gonna be taking like Facebook and Instagram and Snapchat
and all that and putting it into one app, so
you'll only have to go one place. If you're a
tailored fan and you know you're gonna have Taylor Swift
emojis called Tamoji's. You know, if you're a big Taylor
(08:50):
fan fan, you're only gonna have a Taylor Swift fan
that is, you're only gonna have to go to one place.
Speaker 1 (08:55):
Even just out of curiosity. If you end up using
it or not using it in your social media life,
you're still gonna want to find, well, dig into it.
Speaker 2 (09:00):
And as a big fan, you'll also be connected, so
you get the first DIBs on stuff and the merchandise
people won't other people won't get to get and that
kind of stuff. So look forward to that before the
end of this year. Don't have a firm date on
it yet. I got some more new Christmas music coming
out this year, and this one from Nick Jonas. He
says he's not All Day for me. He's not going
(09:22):
full blown Christmas album, but he said some of the
stuff he's writing right now is going to be Christmas,
so he's going to release it. Not any cover stuff,
just all originals.
Speaker 1 (09:33):
I love original Christmas music lately, not that I don't
love the classics, but how many times can they be redone?
Speaker 2 (09:40):
Yeah, just snooz.
Speaker 1 (09:43):
That's supposed to.
Speaker 2 (09:44):
Be anybody you know Christmas songess not Surcing on an
Open Fire. And the Grammys this year celebrating their sixtieth anniversary,
so they're gonna have a special coming up November twenty
fourth called sixtieth Anniversary Special Grammy's Greatest Stories, and it
will be behind the scenes and remembrances of big appearances
over the over the years. Yeah, and they are going
to cover the Bruno Mars appearance where he attributed Prince
(10:11):
What about?
Speaker 1 (10:11):
Are they going to do the Michael Jackson Billy Jean
performance which probably world when moon walked for the first time.
Speaker 2 (10:17):
Yea, let's gip that one and sharing you two sting
Selini on everybody. So look for that one November twenty fourth,
and that will be on CBS.
Speaker 1 (10:25):
Murphy Salmon, Joy Music News coming up next, we'd love
to hear from you and the producer's mail bag. What
is on the way?
Speaker 9 (10:31):
David Well Kelly has an idea of what sam you
can make as a comfort item to sleep with at
night once you have to give back your daughter's pashinicorn
okay unicorn.
Speaker 1 (10:40):
Yeah, it's a different sort of fun Friday around here.
Friday the thirteenth and Murphy Rookie today because I'm not
with us because he's under the weather, not feeling good.
Last time I saw him, he was covered up big time.
And then he also had his flannel.
Speaker 2 (10:56):
Okay, okay, flannel that we all love, all right.
Speaker 3 (11:00):
The producer's mail bag.
Speaker 1 (11:01):
Yeah, we love hearing from you online on Facebook or Instagram.
And I think we've established Sam that you have been
sleeping with a comfort object. Your daughter, Mattie's I like Pushina.
Speaker 2 (11:12):
The fancy name that we've given this, it's the comfort object. Yeah,
I'm I'm Maddie.
Speaker 1 (11:17):
You call it what else you call?
Speaker 2 (11:18):
She is twelve and she has this some of the
you know, every every kid has stuffed animals, and it's
the Pachine, which is a line of animals. They're cats,
and they make different kinds, and so for each one
there's a different name, Like this one she has is
a unicorn, so it's a Pashina cornicorn. So it's a
cat with a unicorn thing on the front, and so honored.
I've been sleeping with it. Yeah, while she's not there.
Speaker 1 (11:40):
Everybody's weighing in, right, David.
Speaker 9 (11:42):
Yeah, And first of all, I'm glad there's a name
to this because these are all over Snapchat. These little creatures.
They're in the stickers version. I never knew what they were,
but I love using them. Well, Ronda says, in my case,
I have the same kind of pillow, except it's a
Pushina Maid, the little Mermaid.
Speaker 1 (11:59):
It has just a you know, the fishtail. Says.
Speaker 9 (12:01):
It helped my next so much. I got it for
my birth miss last year. Now her birthday is in December,
so I got it.
Speaker 8 (12:09):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (12:09):
See Ronda uses one too, No shame, no shame.
Speaker 2 (12:13):
There's a bunch of different kind too. I didn't know
there was a little Mermaid cute.
Speaker 1 (12:16):
Okay, thank you, Ronda.
Speaker 9 (12:18):
And so Kelly says, I have another pillow idea for
Sam for once, he has to return the Pashina Corn.
Can't even say it back to your daughter, Mattie, that's
not yours permanently, right.
Speaker 2 (12:28):
Right right, I'll have to give it back to her,
she says.
Speaker 9 (12:30):
Maybe take a piece of clothing from each of your
kids and make a pillow out of it. I don't
know if you can sew or not, but that way
you can have something that is personal and unique to
you snuggle all your kiddos.
Speaker 2 (12:42):
Well, you know, one thing is when my dad passed away.
There was a friend of my mom's who had my
mom give him three shirts of my dad's, just shirts
my dad always wore, and she made Teddy Bears out
of each shirt, one for my mom, one for my brother,
and one for me. So I have that sitting on
a mantle. I just don't know to sleep with it, right,
I do like the shirts from all the kids idea.
Speaker 1 (13:04):
Yeah, as long as it's soft and cuddly like a machine, right, Kelly,
Thank you, Kelly.
Speaker 9 (13:10):
And Gail says Hey, Sam, just so you know, I
sleep with a satin pillow made from a quilt that
belonged to my mom. It's great to have things that
are personal and still in the family.
Speaker 1 (13:20):
Comfort comfort, love it. Thank you for reaching out. Hit
us up anytime on Instagram, Facebook, or at Murphysaman Jody
dot com.
Speaker 3 (13:27):
Coming up, Hollywood, I can tell.
Speaker 1 (13:31):
You why Jennifer Lopez, Mark Anthony, and Alex Rodriguez all
getting together this weekend.
Speaker 10 (13:38):
Jody's Hollywood Outside.
Speaker 1 (13:40):
You may not realize this, but that big concert that
Jennifer Lopez has been putting together along with Mark Anthony,
probably Lynn Lynn, Manuel Miranda for Puerto Rico happens this weekend.
You know, now, Lynn Manuel Miranda wrote this beautiful song
and it's for all and all proceeds go for hurricane release.
(14:08):
He got a lot of superstars to join him on
that too.
Speaker 2 (14:11):
Anthony's on this one. Ricky Martin is in here.
Speaker 1 (14:13):
Yeah. It's called One Voice, the concert that will air
tomorrow night on NBC, and it's everybody, Mark, Anthony, Jennifer Lopez.
You know they know each other, right. Oh, Alex Rodriguez
is there too.
Speaker 2 (14:25):
Well, of course he goes wherever she goes.
Speaker 1 (14:27):
Justin Timberlake, Selena Gomez, Chris Martin, Maroon Five, Demi Lovado
and more like they're announcing it's probably a situation where
they're still getting people on board.
Speaker 8 (14:38):
Right.
Speaker 1 (14:38):
That's going to be Saturday night on NBC, of course,
with all money raised going to the people of Puerto Rico.
Speaker 2 (14:44):
And the thing to keep in mind, NBC is gonna
be running an hour of this, but this is going
on a few hours, so Telemundo is actually going to
have it on the whole time, Right, you want to watch,
depending on which version you want to watch.
Speaker 1 (14:54):
I'm saying to keep adding more big names to this one.
Speaker 2 (14:57):
It's huge.
Speaker 1 (14:58):
I want to say Leonardo DiCaprio is gonna have part
this one too, so it's not just music, so look
for that. Also another good news, giving news, Jennifer Aniston
has donated one million dollars Did you see this yesterday
to well to the Red Cross and Ricky Martin's Foundation
for the people of Puerto Rico and Lady Gaga doing
something different as a donation.
Speaker 2 (15:20):
Well, she's already donated money, and she's had a mediation
or not mediation, meditation sessions and all that, yeah.
Speaker 1 (15:26):
Stuff, mediation set up completely different things, Sam but costly,
I'm sure. No, she's she pledged a million dollars. But
she's a part of this Journey of Hope program, which
actually began after Hurricane Katrina. And it's not just about
here's water, here's food, here's financial aid. It's about your
mental state after dealing with such a complete loss, especially
(15:48):
for younger people, because they go back to school broken
and it's like what happened, you know, And so she
is putting more money and time and effort into that.
Lady Gaga is coming up in your next Hollywoodutatday this
morning at seven fifty five, Can you catch Jason today?
Meaning yeah, and American Music Awards nominations are announced up
(16:12):
to date.
Speaker 4 (16:12):
With Shony's Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 1 (16:17):
Friday the thirteenth. I hope that day doesn't scare you.
It's just a date on the calendar. For me, I
don't I'm not scared of it. There are people who
find it their lucky day, you know.
Speaker 2 (16:27):
Funny. It's kind of snuck up on me this year
because I really didn't realize we had one coming up,
and it's in October, which.
Speaker 1 (16:33):
I've bet that means you can catch some Jason Vorhees
on TV tonight.
Speaker 2 (16:36):
Yes, it makes it more scary today they don't.
Speaker 1 (16:38):
Go on a camping trip tonight to a lake.
Speaker 2 (16:40):
Uh huh.
Speaker 1 (16:42):
Again, I'm not superstitious. In fact, when I was a
little girl one Friday the thirteenth, when I told you
the story before Sam, I stepped off the bus and
a bunch of people rubbed me on the head because
I'm redheaded, and supposedly that's also a superstition that we're
good luck. Its real long today something like that. Yeah,
I'll tell you what. Who was also not very lucky
today as our Murphy. No, Taylor was sick the other day,
(17:03):
your daughter and yeah, our daughter. And then Murphy's sick now,
and so I'm hoping that we're done with this when
he's done, hopefully later today. I've been getting text this
morning he and and Taylor would like some ginger. Well,
uh huh, so I've got to go to the store
and we're out of saltines.
Speaker 2 (17:21):
Huh okay, sure, I mean your healthy mom still knock
on woods.
Speaker 1 (17:25):
So I am, I am, I am. I mean, I'm
trying to help them and take care of them while
I'm not getting sick. That's a that's a job and
stuff washing my hands a ton.
Speaker 2 (17:37):
If they're doing crackers and gender rail, then this is
one of those debilitating kind of ones that they're.
Speaker 1 (17:43):
Asking for that. Taylor's asking for that now, right, but
Murphy's asking for it maybe five ten hours from now. Okay,
he's not ready for it yet.
Speaker 2 (17:51):
He's in the early STA want it go to space.
Speaker 1 (17:54):
I don't have it yet, Okay, So we'll see how
we do with the weekend. I will be cleaning a
lot this weekend, right, I tell you that's in my mind.
Future I'm speaking of that coming up this hour. So
excited about this. We want to hear from you. Eight
seven seven three to one zero for MSJ on your
Halloween decorps. What is in your yard right now? Or
what's going up? You know? Do you go all out?
Speaker 2 (18:15):
We want to see it doing it this weekend.
Speaker 1 (18:17):
Send your pictures to us on our Facebook page and
you can call us and tell us about yours. Coming
up next though, we're going to visit with a friend
of mine who works in a haunted house, a very
scary one. Uh huh okay. And his advice for when
you go through you're spending your money, do you go
in big groups? You know how to do it right,
how to do it right so you get the full effect?
(18:39):
You know, his warnings from a monster inside. That's coming
up next. If you're walking through a haunted house, maybe
this weekend. Here's some rules for what not to do
with my friend Jesse who works and scares people in
haunted houses.
Speaker 2 (18:54):
Right, hey, Jesse, Okay.
Speaker 1 (18:56):
So what is it? What are the rules? In your opinion?
You're a monster on the inside of haunted houses? What's
the rule?
Speaker 4 (19:04):
Like?
Speaker 1 (19:04):
What do you want people to know? Big groups? Small groups?
Should we try to mess with you? Should we?
Speaker 5 (19:08):
Should we not go in a small group? If you
have a bunch of people. It kind of throws off
the timing kind of you don't get the full of
set right if you're if you come in with a
group of twenty people and and you're just kind of
like walking through it.
Speaker 2 (19:25):
Kind of, let's let the whole gang get scared as
opposed to like you're just scaring the people in the
front and the people in the back of what's going on.
Speaker 1 (19:31):
Okay, so go in small groups for a full of fact.
If you're paying your money to be there, you want
the full of facts a small groups. Okay. What about
people who heckle you?
Speaker 5 (19:41):
Is fine, you know because usually we can come back
at them with something as long as we're staying character,
you know. But but don't be overly rude about it,
Like you get people that are that like screaming your face.
You know. If one thing, if you're if it's a
if it's an honest reaction in you, it's another thing
if you're just going in there you a pump and
some of those two.
Speaker 1 (20:02):
Yeah, so you Jesse I My mom used to always
tell me, look, they know who to scare and not
to scare. They know, so stop acting like you're scared.
Speaker 5 (20:13):
The ones that we usually go for are the dudes,
because the dudes will be like, oh, nothing's gonna scare me,
get me, and then the best thing is and then
they run screaming out of the room.
Speaker 1 (20:26):
Nice watch out, big and bad dudes.
Speaker 3 (20:29):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (20:30):
And a lot of time they're getting you know, clawed
up by the ladies they're with or whatever friends.
Speaker 5 (20:34):
And that actually leads me to my next point. Okay,
don't if you don't think you can handle it, don't
let somebody talk to you into going word. If you
cover your eyes, you're wasting your money.
Speaker 1 (20:46):
Are you super excited about this weekend? Another round of it?
Speaker 5 (20:49):
Absolutely? Absolutely? Friday supposed to be a really really busy night.
Speaker 1 (20:56):
Well, good luck. I hope you get some of those
big scares in for the dudes.
Speaker 2 (20:59):
Yeah, eat you, meat you, thank you. Jesse.
Speaker 1 (21:02):
Oh gosh, Friday the thirteenth, that's right. I had forgotten
about that being a big night. So coming up next
eight seven seven three one zero four MSJ join us anytime?
Who do we have David?
Speaker 9 (21:12):
Cindy is on the phone. I have her on hold
because she wants to share the best Halloween decorations she's
ever seen.
Speaker 1 (21:17):
Excellent. We love to hear from you. Give us a
call anytime eight seven, seven three to one zero for
MSJ to jump into the conversation right now. We want
to know what do you do for decorating for Halloween?
Do you stick one pumpkin outside or do you go
all out? That's right, we only got two weeks left,
(21:38):
that's right.
Speaker 2 (21:39):
What about you, Cindy.
Speaker 11 (21:41):
Well, when my sister and I were younger, like in
high school, in Elmo Elementary school, middle school, we used
to turn our entire garage into a haunted house. Please
go when you used to be able to get refrigerator
boxes and everything and put them all together. Yeah, cut
out windows and make like scenes like I had a
trunks and we put her walking doll in it with
little fangs and made it like a And we would
(22:06):
take rugs because we used to get everything where we
could find stuff, where you could get the rubber from
underneath the carpet and we would cut it into strings
and hang it down where.
Speaker 5 (22:14):
People had to walk through it.
Speaker 11 (22:15):
And bubble plastic and the foam like you would have
in cushions, we would put underneath remnant carpets and they
would call and they have to crawl through this whole
maze to get to the end to get their tree right.
Speaker 2 (22:29):
I was a pretty cool recycled house.
Speaker 11 (22:32):
Yeah. We used to do that like a couple of years.
And then at the end, because we had h cotton
candy machine, would give them cotton candy when they got
through it. And we used to go through it after
it was all over with and get all the candy
and the kids.
Speaker 2 (22:45):
Would drop, mmm, thank you, Cindy.
Speaker 1 (22:49):
All the candy the kids would drop. When kids the market,
I didn't think about.
Speaker 2 (22:53):
When kids come through there, they get scared and run
out and the buckets, you know, stuff falls out the buckets.
Speaker 1 (22:58):
It's about the candy anymore more. When you're scared like that.
Speaker 2 (23:01):
When you're yeah, you just want your life.
Speaker 1 (23:03):
It's just not all right. We love to hear about
what decorations you're doing or what you've seen. Uh, you know,
maybe you're doing some stuff this weekend. Eight seven seven
three one zero four ms JA.
Speaker 2 (23:14):
It's been a few years since I had my fog
machine too. I need to it broke down in the attics.
I need to get me a new fog machine for
the porch.
Speaker 1 (23:21):
Especially if you have something out there that's scary. The
fog makes it scarier.
Speaker 2 (23:25):
Yeah right, yeah, all right, itself makes it scary. Yeah, okay,
wall do you think something's gonna jump out at you?
Speaker 1 (23:30):
Yeah, so anticipation, that's right. Sam. Coming up next to
the Family Friendly box Office Review, we have four new
movies opening this weekend, all to take on Blade Runner
and It.
Speaker 9 (23:45):
So.
Speaker 1 (23:45):
Murphy is out today because he's not feeling good at all.
It might be a long weekend at our house because
Taylor was sick day ago too.
Speaker 2 (23:51):
Our teenager, well, the viruses.
Speaker 4 (23:54):
New movies this week, Murphy, Sam and Jody Damn Friendly
box Office Review.
Speaker 1 (23:59):
We have a few things coming out. A new action
movie starring Jackie Chan and Pierce Brosnan called The Foreigners.
Speaker 4 (24:05):
The City Today twenty thousand pounds for the names of
the bombers.
Speaker 1 (24:12):
This one seems pretty scary to me, Okay. It's a
humble businessman who's got this buried past, of course, having
to seek revenge because his daughter was killed okay in
an act of terrorism. Oh, the Foreigner, some big names there.
Jackie Chan Pierce Brosnan seriously.
Speaker 2 (24:27):
Looking at the trailer for this one. It kind of
reminds me of taking those taking movies.
Speaker 1 (24:30):
It sounds like that. Also, yeah, okay. We also have
a bio pick starring Chadwick Boseman, and he's done plenty.
He's done James Brown on screen, Jackie Robinson, and Floyd
Little and now he's doing the story of young Thurgood Marshall.
It's called Marshall a great granddaddy.
Speaker 2 (24:47):
He was a slave.
Speaker 4 (24:51):
We're not slaves.
Speaker 2 (24:51):
Now got weapons we didn't have before.
Speaker 1 (24:55):
Okay, because he's the first African American Supreme Court justice
and this is his story starring chadw Boseman, who can
just do anything. He's so so good. We also have
a horror It is October the movie. It's about a
college student who well, I don't want to give too
much away, but it's called Happy Death Day.
Speaker 4 (25:12):
Look, I know this isn't going to make any sense.
Speaker 3 (25:15):
I'm fairly come losing in my mind Happy Birthday. I've
already lived through this day.
Speaker 1 (25:21):
Happy death Day. Does that help you figure out what
she's trying to figure out? Because she's already crossed over.
Speaker 2 (25:26):
If I'm going to put myself through this, I'm just
gonna go see it.
Speaker 1 (25:29):
Really I mean high quality, but you.
Speaker 2 (25:32):
Know that's if I'm going to scare myself. Just go
to do this.
Speaker 1 (25:34):
I do want to tell you this. This is directed
by Christopher Landon, who is the son of Michael Landon
from the Little House in the Prairie. Okay, he had
a fascination with horror movies. Apparently, does it make We
also have another biopic called Professor Marston and the Wonder Women,
about the psychologist who also created the comic book character
Wonder Woman.
Speaker 2 (25:52):
Professor Marston and the Foreigner both rated. Are Marshall and
Happy Death Day are both rated PG.
Speaker 3 (25:58):
Thirteen, Duty family friendly box office.
Speaker 1 (26:02):
From you, I would love to hear from you. Keep
your calls coming. It's a fun Friday. Eight seven seven
three one zero four MSJ. Who do we have next? David?
Speaker 9 (26:10):
Next is Kelly, who also wants to share her favorite
Halloween decorations.
Speaker 1 (26:14):
Excellent. It's Friday the thirteenth, a scary weekend at our
house because Murphy's still sick and I'm scared I'm gonna
get sick.
Speaker 2 (26:22):
But I hope that's.
Speaker 1 (26:24):
Legit for sure anyway, So that's not That's why he's
not with us this morning. One of my favorite things
about Trick or Treat Night is paying attention to the
Halloween decorations and the de corps and you know what
people have done with their yards or walkways or even
car ports and garages. You know. One of my favorites
(26:45):
that I've seen in the last few years. It was
just so cool and unexpected and different. These people had
taken their windows shutters and unhinged them so that they
were all crooked, and it made it look like a
really jacked up house. But on the sidewalk walking up also,
we're all these rubber rats. You know, you had to
(27:07):
walk in tiptoe past them. I can't remember anything else there,
but it was super. I was just unexpected. I loved it.
Speaker 2 (27:14):
The ones I've seen on certain videos online and I
got to dig into this. It's this new thing where
they show the video of the scary ghost, like on
your window. Ghost is dancing around, yes, and there's some
way to do it with a sheet or just the
stuff you already have, and it's a projector behind it
in the living room. Right. I got to look into
that because that looks fun.
Speaker 1 (27:33):
That's that's pretty high tech. I like the old school
too myself. Eight seven seven three one zero for ms J.
Kelly's not too early to be doing this sort of stuff,
not at all.
Speaker 8 (27:45):
I think we're My family's going to decorate this weekend
for Halloween at our house.
Speaker 2 (27:49):
What do y'all do for decorations too? Do you have
the scary stuff or the fun cute stuff or a mix.
Speaker 8 (27:55):
My children are still little right now, so we do
fun cute things like pumpkins, and we have some witches,
but not too scary.
Speaker 2 (28:02):
Yeah, you expect when they get older you'll have all
the scary skeletons and spine.
Speaker 8 (28:05):
Oh absolutely, I'm sure we'll have the full graveyard in
our front yard when't we when the kids get a
little bit older.
Speaker 1 (28:12):
Yeah, thank you, Kelly. To me, the more subtle and
maybe the more still, I'm more scared. Like a dude
who's just sitting there in some sort of mask or something.
That's really scary because you're not expecting it right or
you don't know what he's going to do. You are
just standing there. I don't know. Something about the subtlety
(28:34):
of that is super scary to me.
Speaker 2 (28:36):
And guys don't forget the misdirection. That's where they sit
the thing there to make you think, oh, keep an
eye on him, keep an eye on him and the
one gets you from.
Speaker 1 (28:43):
Behind my high All right, look, keep it coming. Let
us know what you do specifically or what you see
that you love eight seven seven three one zero four ms.
Speaker 3 (28:52):
J coming out.
Speaker 1 (28:56):
We're gonna let you know where you can catch Jason tonight,
where he can catch you, because it's Friday the thirteenth. Also,
the nominees are in for the American Music Awards, going
to be a big one this year.
Speaker 10 (29:09):
Judy's Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 1 (29:11):
You know it's Friday the thirteenth, so I had to
look into it for you, and you can catch some
Jason tonight. Okay, well he could catch.
Speaker 2 (29:19):
You, that's true.
Speaker 1 (29:22):
I can't Friday the thirteenth movies. By the way, I
didn't find yet any of the old old movies like
those original ones, which, Hello, what's one of the first
big scares I ever had watching a horror movie because
I thought it was over at the end of the
first one, and then the whole lake stop it. That's
one of the best gotcha's ever and it can only
(29:43):
do it one time to you. Yeah, tonight on AMC.
It looks like they're running some of the newer When
I say newer, not the old. Jason goes to a
bad place, not the way I it's not what the
actual title is, but it's called the Final Friday. We
also have later in the Night Freddy versus Jason, which
I never saw, and a couple of other newer Friday
(30:05):
the thirteenth movies.
Speaker 2 (30:06):
Guess what, I've never been to make your chances there.
Speaker 1 (30:07):
I've never been brave enough to catch any of the
newer ones. I had my phil you know, back in
the day. But Jason's scary and he's for it again.
How still he is?
Speaker 2 (30:16):
It sounds like the Doctor Seuss version. Though Jason goes
to a bad place.
Speaker 1 (30:21):
That's the way I say it. I know he can't
say it's not the actual title. Okay. Also this weekend
Entertainment for Fun, the American Music Awards nominees were announced
and leading the pack this year. Man, I hope he
wins a lot. Bruno mars I would think it. Let's
let's perform a lot, Let's hear from him a lot.
(30:42):
He leads with eight nominations, five nominations going to Drake,
to Ed Sheeran, to the Chainsmokers. The weekend, so it's
a big deal. Artists of the Year nominations are in
and you can vote for those like fans can vote
between now and November, like the middle of November, and
so Artists of the Year will be Bruno, Mars, Chainsmokers,
Kendrick Lamar, Ed Sheeran and Drake and those are open
(31:05):
at the AMAS dot Com.
Speaker 2 (31:06):
I would assume it's gonna be a big year for
Bruno and Ed Shearon and Chainsmokers.
Speaker 1 (31:10):
We'll see big one there by the way. That airs
on November nineteenth on ABC. Coming up in Your Next
Hollywood Outsider this morning at eight thirty, Why Mark Anthony,
Jennifer Lopez, and a Rod are getting together this weekend.
Speaker 4 (31:27):
Up to date with Joney's Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 1 (31:32):
Happy Friday the thirteenth. Don't let us superstition keep you home,
That's what I say. Okay, And Murphy's not with us
today because he's home, but it's not Friday.
Speaker 2 (31:41):
The thirteenth, there's no superstitions.
Speaker 1 (31:44):
Not feeling really good. I'm hoping he's better by at
least tomorrow. Little something going around our house. I'm trying
to stay away from him so that I don't, you know,
get taken down. You guys ready for some favorites. A
lot of good stuff this week Judy's Friday favorite I'm
Gonna start.
Speaker 5 (31:58):
You know.
Speaker 1 (31:59):
Bruno, by the way, is leading the American Music Award nominations.
They were released this week and he's got like seven
nods or something crazy. And he did something really cool
this week on This Show with Charlie Rose, where he's
sitting at a table with two of his you know,
backup singers, and they did this a cappella banging on
the table version of That's what I Like.
Speaker 2 (32:25):
Chersey so loves the SAA dinner. You got it if
you won't.
Speaker 4 (32:30):
It, got it if you want to send you got
it if you won't it, if you want.
Speaker 1 (32:36):
John Powell cool is that there's some instruments behind him,
but it's it's not a plugged in kind of performance
and he's really just doing the beats on the table.
Speaker 2 (32:46):
And so sick great a musician he is an.
Speaker 1 (32:51):
He doesn't burn that voice out because I need that
voice and now yours was musical this week too.
Speaker 2 (32:56):
I love it. Mine has to do with Tom Petty,
who we just lost about a week and a half
ago and part of his hometown Gainesville, Florida. They did
a little thing last week at the football game. In
between the third and fourth quarter We're homecoming. The entire
stadium was singing a Tom Petty song.
Speaker 1 (33:23):
I mean, that's everybody some fun sing along to be
a part of. You certainly do that with more than
one Tom Petty song. So good fun stuff. Some Friday
favorites for you. Coming up today's Good Things story. It's
one of those mini heroes coming out of Las Vegas
from the shooting and the recovery healing efforts there. You
(33:43):
got to get to know this guy. Coming up next though, Sam,
we want to find out if you are really legit
going to give Maddie her sleeping toy back. I have
to give it up this weekend. We'll do that next.
Not only do we want to hear about your Halloween
Day corps, like what you're putting in your yard or
garage or walk away, but we want to see it too.
You can send your pictures to us on our Facebook
(34:04):
page or Murphy Samon Jody dot com. Excellent, you can
do that. So, Sam, I'm assuming Murphy's not with us
today because he's under the weather.
Speaker 2 (34:13):
Right.
Speaker 1 (34:13):
He caught something from our teenager who caught something from
her friend earlier this week, So it's gone through my house.
Speaker 2 (34:18):
That's fine. Tell you that it's not pretty.
Speaker 1 (34:21):
No, it's not pretty, and I'm hoping to stay away
from it. Phoebe and I so far staying away from it.
We hope. So don't you have Maddie and the kids
this weekend?
Speaker 2 (34:31):
So yeah, I have Maddie this weekend. Parker's way at school.
Jack's busy doing something. So I have Maddie, my daughter.
Speaker 1 (34:36):
Boy another daddy daughter weekend, just the two of you.
Speaker 2 (34:39):
And I've already told her we're probably not going to
do sushi again.
Speaker 1 (34:42):
Well that's still cool. Yeah, you know, she's looking forward.
I didn't realize it was another daddy daughter. Yeah, well
Maddie daddy.
Speaker 2 (34:48):
As much as she liked the sushi, because she picked
that last time. I told her, look, we're not doing
that again because you picked out all the cucumbers, and
let's pick out something. You can't just keep doing the
same thing.
Speaker 1 (34:58):
Let her pick.
Speaker 2 (34:58):
But yeah, since she he hasn't been here the past
two week has tweaks two weeks, I've been sleeping with
her Pashina corn, which is a pashine stuffed doll that's
also a unicorn. Hence it's also a nice pillow. Yeah,
and it's kind of been it reminds me of her.
I'm snuggling and I'm realizing that once she comes back
this weekend, I got to give it back up to her.
Speaker 1 (35:17):
She's gonna like that because it's going to smell like you.
Speaker 2 (35:19):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (35:19):
I love the way my daddy smelled, but I know
just a clean man scent.
Speaker 2 (35:24):
Also from sleeping one of the past two weeks, I
realized I kind of like having that. I don't know
if you call it security or what. It's just something
to fall on to besides a cat or a dog.
Speaker 1 (35:33):
I think security and comfy is the a spouse. I'm
going to say it. So have you replaced it yet?
Speaker 4 (35:40):
No.
Speaker 2 (35:41):
I actually talked to Maddie and I said, look, here's
what I've been doing, and she thought it was cute.
And I've even sent her pictures of me sleeping with
Pashina corn and I get back smiley faces and hearts,
and I said, why don't you help me this weekend
find something because I don't want just the typical teddy.
Speaker 1 (35:54):
Bear or my money is on her wanting you to
keep it. My money is on no, Daddy, I want
you to have it.
Speaker 2 (36:00):
Like the weekends when she's gonna have it. She's there.
Speaker 1 (36:03):
I don't know, she might not be as attached to
it as you are, and she im that's what I'm thinking.
She's gonna say. We'll see.
Speaker 2 (36:11):
I'm not going to venture out there, but I really
do like the.
Speaker 3 (36:13):
Thing they do coming out. Jody finds the good news today.
Speaker 1 (36:17):
J all right, Look, there's a lot of good stories.
You just don't hear enough of them. So we're going
to celebrate one of the heroes from the Vegas mass shooting.
Something good that's happened to Helm since he rescued a
ton of people. That's next a little different around here
for today, Friday the thirteenth, because Murphy is out. Well,
(36:40):
more on that later. Right now, it's time to focus
on the good stuffs.
Speaker 3 (36:44):
Jody's a good thing.
Speaker 9 (36:48):
All right.
Speaker 1 (36:48):
We all need some good news, and there's always a
lot of good stuff going on. It just doesn't always
get the light needed. So you may have heard about this,
but I want to tell you a little bit more
about this marine who was in Los v I guess
the night of the mass shooting, and you may have
heard about it. In fact, I remember this being one
of the hero type first hero stories I heard.
Speaker 2 (37:07):
Yeah, there were a number of different hero stories that
came out surrounding that about people who are I guess
not normally heroes that just jumped in and did something.
Speaker 1 (37:15):
Oh more than we know. There's so much more to come.
But his name is Taylor Winston. How about for that
name for one second, what a great name that is.
But Taylor, he's a marine. He saw that there were
critically injured people all around him and there were not
enough ambulances. There literally were not enough our first responders
to help everybody. So he saw this, started looking for
a truck, found a truck and drove people to hospitals.
(37:40):
Found a truck with keys in it. He's spoken to
the media several times about that.
Speaker 6 (37:44):
Typically during a festival, multiple people use a truck and
they tend to leave keys. And I was hoping that
was the case, and lucked out on the first truck,
opened the door and the keys are there, and looked
at Jen and said, let's go get some people. And
you went back towards gunfire.
Speaker 7 (38:02):
And you and an angel for you to find the
keys in the truck, and the first one you tried,
and then you started to transport how many people to
a local hospital?
Speaker 6 (38:15):
Each trip was ten to fifteen people, as may as
we could cram in there.
Speaker 2 (38:19):
Wow.
Speaker 1 (38:19):
Yeah. Counting it down, they think he drove about thirty
critically injured people to the hospital. So thirty people who
really are going to be reaching out to try to
meet him and find him in these coming days as
they recover, but locally for him in his hometown. He's
been given now from a B five Motors of car dealership,
a brand new F one fifty trull for himself. So
(38:42):
and what he's going to do with that, He's grateful
for it. He doesn't think he deserves it or needs it.
He just did what he needed to do at the time.
But he's going to sell his old truck and give
the money to some victims.
Speaker 2 (38:51):
Man, how cool is that around like that?
Speaker 1 (38:54):
So we're going to keep highlighting those for you.
Speaker 2 (38:57):
And that is Jody's good news for this Friday.
Speaker 1 (39:02):
I can tell you where and why. Jennifer Lopez, Mark Anthony,
and a rod I'll get in together this weekend.
Speaker 10 (39:11):
Judy's Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 1 (39:13):
So this weekend, Mark Anthony, Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez
all getting together for the One Voice Concert. It's a
benefit for Puerto Rico, right, Okay, So all of them
together and it's huge, happening Saturday night on NBC and
all of its platforms. I mean, they're going to all perform,
Maroon five, Selena Gomez justin Timberlake, and they keep adding names.
(39:35):
They are adding people by the moment. And remember I'm
sure that Linn Manuel Miranda will be there because he
has this beautiful song that they did.
Speaker 2 (39:43):
Yeah, he kind of organized it all in and wrote
a song for it.
Speaker 1 (39:52):
This is the One Voice Concert. They're adding names every minute,
like Leonardo DiCaprio. So it's not just actors I mean sorry,
not just singers, but actors too, and Selena Gomez involved.
Look for It's Saturday evening on NBC.
Speaker 4 (40:05):
Up Today with Judy's Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 1 (40:10):
We love hearing from you, so jump in anytime on
Facebook or Instagram or Murphysamonjodi dot com.
Speaker 3 (40:15):
It's done for the producers, Nailed and David.
Speaker 1 (40:18):
What's in your Bag? Today?
Speaker 9 (40:19):
We received a message from Russell Ooh love your name
Russell Russell. He starts off by saying he enjoys the
show and he especially loved the cooking recipes and the
slow cooker of Slow Cooker Week that we had a
while back. But he's also been listening this morning and
heard us talking about it's Friday the thirteenth and how
we don't believe in superstitions. Yeah, all right, clearly neither
does he, because he just wanted to say that he's
(40:41):
getting married today to his fiancee, Ah sweet, and you
know there's already superstitions as it is going into you know,
getting married.
Speaker 1 (40:50):
So now it's like, wow, that's not good. Yeah, I
mean Murphy is it. Murphy's Murphy's grandfather. Murphy's not with
us today because he's sick. Murphy's grandfather thought that thirteen
was his lucky number and would have done whatever on
Friday the thirteenth. So it's how you spin it, you know,
how you feel about it. It's a good, you know,
fun way to remember your anniversary too, Russell.
Speaker 2 (41:10):
I'm gonna wait in here too and remember my day
was special too. On the last wedding April fool.
Speaker 1 (41:16):
Days when you got married, Sam, Yeah that didn't work out.
I don't believe in any of that numbers. That's that's
that's not your relationship number.
Speaker 2 (41:24):
Don't worry about it.
Speaker 1 (41:25):
Yeah, congratulations Russell, Happy wedding Day and Friday the thirteenth.
We love hearing from you. I had to look into
it for everybody. And yes, you can catch some Jason
on TV tonight, or he can catch you.
Speaker 2 (41:40):
Ha ha. What would it be in Friday the thirteenth?
Speaker 1 (41:43):
Right? I have not the hot hot hot thing gets me? Okay,
So I can't find the older ones yet. I'm still
digging around. But the older ones are the to me.
It's the more about more anticipation. It's why the new ones.
But yeah, the newer ones are more like the slasher
(42:03):
blood ones. The old ones are more than But do
they have anticipation? Am I still? You know? So the
first one on AMC tonight will be Jason goes to you.
I know it's the scarier place, the final Friday that
one's also called, and then after that Freddy versus Jason.
I never saw that one. I always thought that was
(42:24):
a brilliant concept.
Speaker 2 (42:25):
Though.
Speaker 1 (42:25):
To bring that back the Friday the thirteenth movies where
Jason was one of my first scares that I ever
really watched a Friday the thirteenth movie out a slumber
party with a bunch of friends, and I wasn't prepared
for that gotcha at the end when we relaxed and
thought it was done. Man. So I'm still I'm still
pretty scared of Jason to this day. So catch that
(42:47):
tonight that is available on AMC because it is Friday
the thirteenth.
Speaker 2 (42:51):
Yeah, And if you do order pizza tonight and you
hear this ande, then you answer the door, maybe eat
something else, think twice. And I hope it's a good
workday for you, being Friday the thirteenth and all the
after the show podcast is on the way next and
we're going to talk about those superstitious.
Speaker 1 (43:08):
Friday the thirteenth, smerteenth. For me, I'm not superstitious.
Speaker 2 (43:12):
I think you made up a word I did.
Speaker 1 (43:14):
So I want to find out who, like, are you
superstitious and about what you Sam and producer David Okay
got to do that after the show
