Speaker 1 (00:00):
Thank you for hanging out with us after the show.
This is the murvihe Sam and Jody podcast. I'm in exclusively.
You get in. It's a brand new episode every single day.
And you know, as you know, Sam has been trained
at home this morning. He's with us on Skype, so
he's gonna sound a little bit funny, a little bit different.

Speaker 2 (00:14):
You always sound funny, or you're always funny. Now you
just sound weird. Ah, Okay, look, I want to talk
about something kind of weird and silly. But you know,
with the cold, cold weather being a big inconvenience for
so many right now, right there is something you like
about cold weather, even if you think you don't, if
you can't stand the inconvenience or you can't stand to

(00:36):
be cold, there's something you love about it too.

Speaker 1 (00:39):
Can I raise my hand and say what I think?

Speaker 3 (00:40):
You can go first? Murphy, mine's really stupid.

Speaker 1 (00:42):
But you want to seech to pick one favorite thing?

Speaker 2 (00:44):
Yeah, I want You're gonna, you're gonna, we're gonna find
the good here in it. Okay.

Speaker 1 (00:48):
My favorite is the fireplace.

Speaker 2 (00:49):
Yeah, hella, hella, you could stay there all day. It's
actually not my favorite thing about it, but I do
enjoy that. What about you, Sam?

Speaker 4 (00:59):
It is the fact, and this is going to sound odd,
but when it's cold that I can bundle up. I
just know there's a solution versus cold versus hot. When
you when you're hot, you can only go so far.
You can get as far as you can go when
you're hot. To get comfortable is naked. After that, you
can't go any further.

Speaker 1 (01:16):
It's so true.

Speaker 4 (01:21):
There's always for cold, more layers and more layers and
more layers, and at some point you just feel that
warmth and that comfort.

Speaker 3 (01:26):
Yeah, you'll get there. You'll actually get there. You're right.

Speaker 2 (01:29):
Sometimes you can never completely cool off, but you can, hopefully,
if you're blessed enough, get warm enough. That's so so true.
My one of my favorite things about what cold weather
is that I get to wear some of my this
is so shallow, some of.

Speaker 3 (01:44):
My favorite clothes.

Speaker 2 (01:45):
I have a favorite long green I think it's green
teal looking coat that I've been able to wear lately,
and I love that thing. Posted it yesterday. I love
that thing and I only get to wear it. It's
so it's such a good coat and it probably at
woolen or something that I can actually wear it like
straight up where it I need it.

Speaker 3 (02:06):
I also love to wear tights, Yeah I do. I
don't know why.

Speaker 2 (02:11):
I just love to wear tights and you can wear
those in cold weather and gloves, and I like the
fashion of cold weather. It's more fun. It's more fun.

Speaker 3 (02:21):
And I's a.

Speaker 4 (02:21):
Pair of PJ pants that I like to wear when
it's cold, and it just it just gives you that
like I said that, that comfort field.

Speaker 2 (02:28):
Yeah, it's also the freshest air you go outside. Yeah, yeah, right,
it's the freshest air.

Speaker 1 (02:34):
I think I wasn't. I wasn't really thinking about fashion,
but you know, but I'll tell you what I do
like is scarfs. I think both of you know that
I love to wear scarves, and you know, are scarves
scarves scarves. You know, before my mother passed away, she
would give me a new scarf every single year. And

(02:55):
do you know that my dad has done that, Sam,
He's continued that tradition. I got a scarf from him
that I love this year. I don't know, I'm not
really sure if he knows how much that tradition means.

Speaker 2 (03:05):
Well, now he does. I think you told him when
that morning on Christmas morning.

Speaker 1 (03:09):
So, yeah, I do like scarves. I wasn't thinking about
the fashion part. And it's funny, Jody, You're right, the
air does seem to be crisper. Even if you think
it's really as clean, it still seems.

Speaker 3 (03:21):
Something about it.

Speaker 2 (03:21):
It's really good for you to get out when you
can and some cold air. I'm not saying stay in it, obviously,
but getting out in and getting it into your system
to breathe. I'm not saying I'm a doctor, but I'm
just saying I think it's good for you.

Speaker 4 (03:33):
You know, it's funny, as Murphy, As I went in
a fast food restaurant, you were talking about the fireplace
making you feel good. Yeah, I went into a fast
food restaurant and they had this digital fire It wasn't
on the screen, you know, the fake log on the screen.
It was like part of their ambiance was a digital
fireplace or digital fire set up. And I looked at
that and I almost wanted to tell a manager, this

(03:54):
is not making me warm.

Speaker 1 (03:56):
What is the point of this.

Speaker 3 (03:57):
I think it was just it can. It can make
you warm. That's another thing.

Speaker 2 (04:02):
When we were little, very little growing up, and it
would be a cold morning, the first sound I would hear.
The sound I would wake up to was my dad
building a fire and then that fire crackling.

Speaker 3 (04:14):
How lovely, And it was very rare.

Speaker 2 (04:16):
That he had to do that, and it was that cold,
but he did, and a couple of times when he
did that, this is this is such a great memory
for me, and I wish I could. I wish he
was around today so I could thank him for it.
He would lay out our clothes, We would lay out
our clothes the night before. He'd grab them from our
rooms and put them in front of the fire. Nice
so we could come in and get dressed in front
of the fire when the.

Speaker 4 (04:37):
Kids were all over here. For that Christmas Eve eve,
I brought up a YouTube fireplace on my TV in
the living room. Now obviously did no good for the warmth,
but it actually had that crack you very now and
then to hear it.

Speaker 1 (04:52):
Well, that's interesting considering you were complaining about the guy
with the fake fireplace at the fast food restaurant.

Speaker 3 (04:58):
Yeah, that's new anyway.

Speaker 2 (05:01):
And our kids love getting out of school because of weather,
although I don't don't I can't honestly say that they
enjoy staying out there, you know. By the day or
two they're ready to be back in their routine and
back with their friends and whatnot. But that whole the
moment when you find out that school's out, that's a high.
That's a childhood high.

Speaker 1 (05:21):
Yeah. That's just a really good list of fun, sweet
things about cold weather.

Speaker 3 (05:26):
Yeah, there's a lot of good stuff. And don't forget
the comfort food.

Speaker 2 (05:28):
The best cold weather comfort food recipes a good collection
of them, including some new instant pot ones. Oh, your
dog's barking, Sam at the house.

Speaker 3 (05:38):
Yeah, okay, we know you're from home today.

Speaker 2 (05:43):
