Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is Murphy Salmon Jody after the show, thank you
for being a podcast subscriber. Sam. It was a little
weird last night for the super Bowl at our house
because we crammed a lot more than just super Bowl
into the evening. The big part of our day, really
our weekend yesterday was a youngest daughter of Phoebe's birthday,
so that was really the big, big deal for us.

Speaker 2 (00:18):
Yeah, Phoebe turned thirteen yesterday, but also she was in
a play at her school, Mary Poppins, and so.

Speaker 1 (00:24):
They had a Matt Nate performance before the super Bowl.

Speaker 2 (00:27):
Right, so three performances this weekend, and the Sunday performance
was at two and it ran till about four thirty.
Then wait, she went to and after she went to
a cast party after, so she wasn't home right away.
We get home, Murphy's dad came with us because he
had gone to the performance. Start serving up the chili,
which we did make chili on potatoes. I didn't know, okay,

(00:49):
but we're not most of our families not big baked
potato people, So why would I have done that? And
I didn't have time. I was at the theater. Taylor
was at a friend's house, and then because it's Phoebe's birthday,
my mom rings the doorbell and comes over to So
while the Super bowls happening, we're like entertaining. And you know,
I said that.

Speaker 1 (01:06):
The other day most people are doing those people are.

Speaker 2 (01:08):
But I like to watch every minute of the Super
Bowl because I love the game, I love commercials and
of course halftime. But it was actually fine, you know,
because they were all in it too. They were all
everybody was watching it.

Speaker 1 (01:22):
Yeah, everybody was The funny part of it is. But
the timing and you know, me picking up Phoebe and
Jody's mom arriving and all that was around. We were
where were we at the end of the second quarter.
So it was right before the halftime show.

Speaker 2 (01:34):
Murphy missed the interception, the interception, the New England interception
right before the right there at the in the red zone.
It was just it was crazy.

Speaker 1 (01:43):
But so you know, we were able to get you know,
a happy birthday in and serve cake right before the
halftime show.

Speaker 2 (01:51):
Do you want to do this?

Speaker 3 (01:51):
I didn't want to rush birthday to you, birthday to you.

Speaker 1 (01:55):
We weren't going to you know, we weren't gonna rush
her through. But we made it all work. It was
just funny how many things we were trying to do
it one time.

Speaker 2 (02:01):
Oh my gosh. And you know she had already had,
you know, a lot of difference. She wasn't about that.
What I'm saying is as soon as Justin Timberlake was
on the screen, they were in it, right. They sat
down and they watched every moment of that. So it's
not like she didn't feel rushed. She was having cake
and ice cream while watching that.

Speaker 3 (02:20):
My oldest Sammy, invited me over to their house for
like a little party.

Speaker 2 (02:24):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (02:24):
It Sammy and his wife, Melissa, will my other oldest son,
their mom, and then Melissa's mom and her husband and
a couple other folks. So it was kind of nice.
I had dropped Mattie off earlier in the day, so
I was like her right back to get back. I
missed the first series, but I was there for most
of it. And it was like you said, too, Jody,
it's like you're trying to watch everything. It was so

(02:45):
noisy in there that Sammy had to put on the
closed caption so we could see everything that was, you know,
being talked about.

Speaker 2 (02:51):
Yeah, that's the thing. It is something to experience with people,
but only so much. You kind of want to control
the noise and so you can actually see it all.

Speaker 1 (03:00):
I've always thought that was the tricky thing is because
you know, you have you have people who are absolutely
focused on the game, but it is a gathering, so
you don't want to ignore everybody for you know, for
two and a half hours.

Speaker 2 (03:10):
Right, So I'm gonna say this from my perspective the
mom you know, when somebody can't find the ice cream
or you know, mom, I need this, or at the
end of the night when it's all over and now
I was like, ah, you know, still I still had
the kitchen to deal with, and it's a it's a
it's a deal. I can I can hear that. Part
of my brain was telling myself last night at the

(03:31):
end of it, don't cook again for this, Just just
get a sandwich tray or order pizza. Don't cook again
for this. And Murphy, you're doing the same thing last
night taking out tons of trash.

Speaker 1 (03:42):
Yeah, oh, I know.

Speaker 2 (03:44):
At the end of the night we had.

Speaker 3 (03:45):
Cocktail weenies by the way, Yeah, you know, your standard
Super Bowl food for a time, I'll load it up
on those suckers.

Speaker 2 (03:53):
