And here we go with another episode of Murphy. Sam
and Jody after the show.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
All right, guys, we've been talking thrift shop fines and
I haven't told you this story.

Speaker 1 (00:10):
A lot of calls on that. You know what, I
didn't realize keep them coming, how huge some of these were,
because I've never had that kind of luck. We had
a call about the coach bag for two bucks five
hundred dollars coach bag or one.

Speaker 2 (00:20):
Hundred dollars coach bag that she got for Nikki got
for two dollars.

Speaker 1 (00:24):
That's incredible. I've never had that kind of luck at
a garage or garage, your thrift.

Speaker 3 (00:28):
Sale, right.

Speaker 2 (00:30):
The reason is that the opportunities not there for you, Murphy,
because you don't a state sale, garage sale, thrift shop.

Speaker 3 (00:36):
You just don't do it, do it enough, you don't.
It takes it.

Speaker 1 (00:39):
It takes a certain patience. I mean, you really have
to block time out if you're going to do this.

Speaker 2 (00:43):
You know, I wonder if there's some sort of you know,
how people have that addictive feeling toward gambling or an
addictive feeling toward rollercoasters. I think there may be a
certain addiction to the rush of getting a great deal
like that, Oh sure is, yeah, and I think that's
why I'm paid. I believe that I'm going to get
something that's going to be very valuable to me one day,

(01:05):
and it's going to be like for two bucks.

Speaker 3 (01:07):
That's exciting anyway, it's.

Speaker 1 (01:09):
Not yet, but yeah, no it hasn'tn't haven't found one
of those Rembrandts for three bucks or something. I wouldn't
original copy of the Constitution a picture for you. It's
signed by all of them, dudes.

Speaker 2 (01:22):
I did get another notification, David to another notification that
there's one of those estate sales in an upscale neighborhood
that I was invited to and there's a wine and
cheese party and it's this weekend.

Speaker 3 (01:35):
Now.

Speaker 2 (01:35):
The last time I went to that sounded up scale
in the email, and then I got there and they
were like naked pictures, you know, and.

Speaker 4 (01:42):
Yeah some of those yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:46):
Art, well it was art right exactly. It wasn't, you know, illicit,
it was these were paintings.

Speaker 3 (01:52):
They were paintings, but they were naked.

Speaker 1 (01:54):
But it's interesting. Yeah, I don't even want to share
in the living room, you know, when you have guests
coming over, how do you keep anybody's attention on the TV.

Speaker 3 (02:04):
On the TV. Okay, I do want to tell you something.

Speaker 1 (02:07):
Oh yeah, that's my wife.

Speaker 3 (02:09):
I do want to.

Speaker 4 (02:13):
Not a good idea exactly.

Speaker 3 (02:17):
Are you okay?

Speaker 2 (02:17):
Yes, Sam, I do want to tell you guys something
that happened recently when I went back. Remember I told
you the whole library book debacle where I accidentally donated
a couple of Phoebe's library books about the Holocaust. Yeah, okay,
she'd checked out like five or six books, and I
grabbed and returned most of them, and then we got
this official letter in the mail that we owed money.

Speaker 1 (02:41):
Wait, yeah, some of the books apparently wound up in
your to be donated pile.

Speaker 3 (02:45):
Somehow I donated them.

Speaker 2 (02:46):
So I go back to the place where I donated them,
and I'm like, I told them story. I say, I'm
going to look at your books. Are there any in
the back that haven't been put out because I accidentally
donated some library books to you? And she was like,
I'm sorry, good luck. She's nice, but she was like
I'm sorry, sweetness. So I go look, and I look
at every book, and I look again and again, and

(03:09):
I especially it got to where I was like realizing
don't wear your eyes out look for the ones with
the library sticker.

Speaker 1 (03:15):
Let me ask you this question. There were some when
you make a donation there, does everything stay there? It
may get shipped to other locations.

Speaker 3 (03:23):
I asked that question too, you know what they said,
what we don't know?

Speaker 2 (03:26):
I don't think. So they were like, no, if it's
donated here, it hits the shelf here.

Speaker 4 (03:29):
Oh okay, Well that's good.

Speaker 2 (03:30):
So I look and look a little and look, and
I can't find it.

Speaker 3 (03:36):
And it's fine.

Speaker 2 (03:36):
And I'm in there and it's a lovely afternoon, and
there's a lady who taps me on the shoulder while
I'm looking for this book, and she is so sweet,
and she's holding two shirts in her hand, and she said,
can I ask your opinion on which shirt would you
wear to something sort of dressy? And I said, oh wow,
And truly I gave her my honest opinion. It's like,

(03:57):
I would wear this one because you can wear it
with more It dresses up better than this one that's
more plain. And that's what And she literally then said
to me, yes, because I only have a little bit
of money to spend, but I want to look good
and then she had a job interview.

Speaker 1 (04:12):
Yeah, sweet, and these.

Speaker 2 (04:14):
Shirts were marked down from their already very low price
because I think cause she's like, I think I could
get this one for two dollars today. And as soon
as she said that, I said, I think it's this one,
and I secretly put in my pocket. I'm gonna go
and give her, I don't know, goa pay for her.
I'm gonna go stand in line behind her and I'm
gonna pay for her stuff because she's sweating which shirt
to buy when they're both probably two or four dollars.

(04:37):
I mean, I just want to help, I really really do.
I go back and I didn't want to spring that
on her right then, you know what I mean. And
she was so sweet and gracious, and so I start
looking to look in again one more time for all
the books, can't find it, go back to find her,
and she is gone. She is gone, and I have
thought of her since that day. I didn't get to

(04:59):
buy her shirt. Her are both shirts, but I hope
she bought the one.

Speaker 4 (05:03):
I hope she got the job.

Speaker 2 (05:05):
It just gave me a perspective of you know, there
are people sweating a two dollars purchase and I am
lucky to not be in that spot, and I just thought,
I just thought I would share that.

Speaker 1 (05:17):
So what you're saying is if you hadn't been hung
up on the things your own personalsers, Yeah, you helped
her up.

Speaker 3 (05:24):
Yeah, thanks, babe.

Speaker 1 (05:27):
I don't know, just take that shirt. I got something
to do here.

Speaker 4 (05:29):
I know that you would have done that.

Speaker 3 (05:31):
Yeah, that was the plan.

Speaker 1 (05:33):
Also, just curious, So if she was holding the shirt
in each hand, how did she tap you on the shoulder.
I'm already finding fault with this story.

Speaker 2 (05:42):
Them both in one hand tapped me and then said,
what do you think.

Speaker 4 (05:46):
I'm a little too literal.
