Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's the Murphy Salmon Jody After the Show podcast, and
so we got something really fun.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Dude, it's like deja vus. Okay, So producer David popped
in after the show.

Speaker 1 (00:10):
Hell, only been gone a week and came, putting me
away from a second back already looking for your job.

Speaker 2 (00:15):
Hi.

Speaker 3 (00:16):
Right, I do sound a little different though, Yeah, you
lost your voice. I did that man. Detroit did a
number on me.

Speaker 4 (00:22):
Okay, So you spent the LA last week in Detroit.

Speaker 1 (00:24):
Well, and we should explain. I mean, it's really cool
that producer David came back. But his true full job
now is this videographer role that he's got with SPC
SPCA and you know, animal Rescue, and it's really really cool.
So I'm glad you came to hang with us and
say hey.

Speaker 3 (00:39):
I heard you on the after the show on Friday
last week. They said, I haven't popped in yet, so
I figured out I listened to the podcast.

Speaker 4 (00:46):
Guys, Yay, thank you for that. Okay, so how close
did you come to want to adopt a dog?

Speaker 2 (00:53):
Yet?

Speaker 3 (00:54):
They all warned me that because I talked, I talked
to everyone there that has my position up there in
Michigan and that's the first thing they said is, oh,
hold off to getting a dog, like, don't strip into
it immediately.

Speaker 4 (01:03):
I'm like, okay, it's like it's gonna happen.

Speaker 3 (01:05):
You're guaranteed it's gonna happen, but just try to, you know,
ease into the job first, get very comfortable, and then
it's true, then go for it.

Speaker 2 (01:12):
It's true, it's true, I guess. So you went on
some rescue missions.

Speaker 3 (01:17):
Yeah, it was really cool. So whenever the investigative team
goes out, they get a call, maybe like a neighbor
somebody hears a dog that you know, sounds like it's
a trap somewhere, and so that's what we got a
call about. And they said they heard these puppies underneath
this house, abandoned house, and so the investigative team went
to go check it out one night, one.

Speaker 2 (01:35):
Night, middle of the night. You could get a call
in the middle of the night and go do this
at your job.

Speaker 4 (01:39):
No, not for me.

Speaker 3 (01:40):
I'm just a normal nine to five job. But they
get a call nine five, they went to go expect it.
They see there's a mom in there. So they set
the trap out for the mom because you know that
she's gonna be a protective of the puppies.

Speaker 4 (01:50):
So they want to try to get the mom first,
but they're gonna try to save her.

Speaker 2 (01:54):
It's not like when you say trap, it just means safety.

Speaker 4 (01:58):
She's not harm no, not at all, but she'll be
very protective.

Speaker 3 (02:01):
So to get mom and the puppies, they try to
know set something up to in cage the mom. But
when they went there, mom was going the next day,
and they're like, look, let's try to go for these puppies.

Speaker 4 (02:10):
And so we're able to say five puppies under the house.
And I got to film it.

Speaker 3 (02:13):
See the whole rescue process where everyone's army crawling underneath
the house, very scary and dangerously army crawling.

Speaker 4 (02:19):
Did you crawl? I did not.

Speaker 3 (02:21):
I stayed on the outside, but I reached as far
as I could in there at the camera to get
all the good details.

Speaker 4 (02:26):
But it was really cute the puppies.

Speaker 3 (02:27):
In a couple of weeks, they staid they'll be up
for adoption, and that's what that's what I'll be doing.
I'll be filming the actual rescue and then those two
weeks I'll be filing going through rehabilitation at the shelter
they need, and when it's time we post online we're like, hey,
this is this puppy story.

Speaker 4 (02:42):
Do you want to come adopt this puppy?

Speaker 3 (02:43):
And it really helps out a lot and get the
word out and one spreads and they get there get
adopted really quickly.

Speaker 1 (02:48):
Of course, with five puppies like that that they get
to name all the puppies or they're just puppies.

Speaker 4 (02:53):
No, they they all get named the shelter.

Speaker 3 (02:55):
Oh. When they were giving me a tour of the
whole place, everywhere we went, they're like this is so
and so this is and they all had names and.

Speaker 4 (03:02):
Their little history. It was really cute. Did they go
back and get the mama? Yes, yay. I needed to
hear that.

Speaker 1 (03:07):
So there's a picture that we saw of you on
your Facebook page with puppies at your feet?

Speaker 4 (03:13):
Is that is that? From that? I got asked that
a lot.

Speaker 3 (03:17):
I'm telling the stories that I got to say these puppies,
Like we saw that picture. I was like, no, those
puppies are already there. They're actually going on for adoption.
I think next week. They were rescued a week before. So,
like I said, this happens all the time. It's all
kinds of calls.

Speaker 1 (03:30):
It's really cute. Did we share that one at Murphy,
Samon and Joe.

Speaker 4 (03:32):
We're going to share it now. We should do that
to get his permission, right, right, of course, that.

Speaker 1 (03:38):
Is a cool photo. In fact, I mean seeing that,
like only four days after you stopped working with us,
it was really cool to see there's a smile on
your face.

Speaker 4 (03:45):
And you start paying a little bit.

Speaker 1 (03:47):
You see the David's join his new thing.

Speaker 3 (03:49):
That definitely makes it worth it, because for this job,
you have to have thick skin. And it's not no
lack of choice of words. Well, not puppies and rainbows
all the time, Like it's not all happy stories puppies,
but it's not hearts and rainbows. You see a lot
of you know you're going to see abuse cases, but
you have to Yes, yes, it's gonna be hard, and
you just have to have thick skin and know what
you're doing is going to be worth it for the
greater good.

Speaker 2 (04:10):
And storytelling is so important when it comes to any
you know, issue that we all care about. Storytelling is
hugely important. How many times has a story that you
saw in the news or saw on social media now
made you think, Oh, I didn't know that was going on.

Speaker 4 (04:26):
I want to get involved or I want to have
So what you're doing is so good.

Speaker 2 (04:31):
That camera, the picture, we're going to post it now
on our Facebook page and Instagram. And David, the camera
you're holding in the picture, is that like the new
camera you're getting.

Speaker 4 (04:42):
That That is the new camera. Did you name her? No,
not yet.

Speaker 3 (04:47):
I didn't think about that, but I guess I should.
I name everything else, but Jody's a good name.

Speaker 4 (04:53):
Of course, I'm kidding.

Speaker 1 (04:55):
So that little camera shoots both video and stills. You
do it all from that camera.

Speaker 4 (05:00):
That video stills four K love it.

Speaker 1 (05:02):
Nice.

Speaker 4 (05:03):
Nice.

Speaker 3 (05:04):
I'm getting some more equipments coming down this week. They're
shipping some more stuff to me, so I'll get morttle
toys to play with and get set up.

Speaker 2 (05:11):
I'm really excited, very cool. I'm so glad you stopped in.
Please do this anytime, of course, anytime. Everybody knows that.

Speaker 4 (05:19):
My voice will be back next time. It'll be that informal.

Speaker 1 (05:21):
That's fine, and you know that. I mean, Jody's not
going to stay connected just because it's you, but because
of the whole you know, the dog factor and the
animal rescue part of it. I mean, I know eas
I know that Jodie can't wait to see some of
your first videos.

Speaker 3 (05:34):
And they know my coworkers, that people everyone I work
with now they ask about my history, they know what
I've done for the show, and so I tell them
one of her big topics is fostering dogs, and they
just love that fact. And they told me and they're like, well, man,
she could probably help you out if you ever try
to get a story or think of interview questions. I'm like,
I've already discussed it with her. Give me a She
is always a phone call away, and I definitely will
if I need her help.

Speaker 4 (05:54):
And that out.

Speaker 2 (05:54):
And the answer is when people ask you what you
can't foster, you'd fall in love with them. It's just
bigger picture. Remember that it's bigger picture. What you're doing
is bigger picture. One puppy out of time.

Speaker 1 (06:03):
Yeah, and you fall in love with them in a
different way. It said you can't wait for them to
find their forever, love.

Speaker 2 (06:07):
Them enough to get them a good home. All right, David,
it's been awesome. Thank you for stopping by, so.

Speaker 4 (06:13):
We'll see you next week too.

Speaker 2 (06:17):
