Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's the Murphy Sam and Jody after the show podcast.
Thanks for checking us out online. We appreciate it.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
Okay, so we have to tell you this story, Sam,
and you're going to love it.

Speaker 3 (00:10):
It's so me and Murphy. It's so us.

Speaker 2 (00:14):
It's like we're doing this over the weekend and looking
at it at each other like why are we doing this?

Speaker 3 (00:20):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (00:20):
Come on, we are the paradoxical parents.

Speaker 3 (00:24):
A little bit.

Speaker 2 (00:24):
Well, okay, we got great kids, yeah, and we like
to you know, I like pets, We like to make
them happy. Whatever. Okay, you know we have five dogs
and two bearded dragons and four fish.

Speaker 1 (00:37):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (00:38):
And so these four fish, yeah, we got two.

Speaker 2 (00:41):
We had two gold fish and a ten gallon tank
and a sucker fish and we added another sucker fish
to it because the tank was discussed.

Speaker 1 (00:48):
And also we thought we were down to one sucker
fish and we hit we thought, I don't know, I
guess for like the last three months, we've only had
one sucker fish. Even then we married it. We rediscovered
the other one this.

Speaker 3 (00:59):
Week was under them.

Speaker 2 (01:00):
So anyway, here's what these two fish came to us free,
like Phoebe won them at a school rally and came
home with two bags.

Speaker 3 (01:08):
Going look at what good fish?

Speaker 2 (01:10):
Yeah, and that very same night, which has been two
years ago, now right, a year ago.

Speaker 1 (01:15):
Two years ago it has been, which is a miracle
of itself because we've never been able to keep any
store bought fish alive. But the ones that came from
a you know, fair survivors.

Speaker 3 (01:24):
Baby, those fish are survivors.

Speaker 2 (01:26):
So anyway they come on that same night, we go
to like Walmart on the way home. Here, okay, here's
a tank, here's a filter, here's some rocks. Woo, go
to town and so all is well, except that lately
it was time to clean the tank. And I hate
cleaning a fish tank. I'm gonna just lay it out there.
I do not want to take care of fish.

Speaker 1 (01:44):
Hey, I'm in lyning right behind you on that one, Jody.

Speaker 2 (01:46):
I mean, I've got a T shirt that says I
don't want fish.

Speaker 1 (01:50):
Phoebe because of the mass I don't want.

Speaker 2 (01:53):
I don't under I don't know how to take care
of them. I don't trust myself. Although Murphy did buy
the little vat the gravel vacuum and he.

Speaker 1 (02:01):
Did it well, Yeah, that works real good.

Speaker 2 (02:03):
And then you use a as like a magic eraser
to clean the insides of the glass, and I did
that part. So we were a team on it or whatnot.

Speaker 1 (02:10):
And we're not anti fish. I think we're just at that,
you know, number of pets. The leshold that the fish
themselves really are kind of the last in line.

Speaker 2 (02:19):
Yeah, but Phoebe does love them, and she feeds them,
and she needs to start and that's the new deal. Anyway,
for two weeks ago she said, I didn't even say it.
She said, Phoebe, I guess I would be okay if
we didn't have these fish anymore. Oh, And I was like,
I was doing the happy fish dance.

Speaker 1 (02:38):
Murphy, did you hear this? Because I'm sure you had
a beating a path right for the tank. Yeah, well,
actually that's almost what happened. I we get out of it,
we're maintaining one less set of animals. That's not wonderful.

Speaker 3 (02:50):
And so wait, I.

Speaker 2 (02:53):
Check with her again, because I know how she is.
I know that that's probably not one hundred percent true.

Speaker 1 (02:58):
Well, back up one stuff. So there was also something
in the middle.

Speaker 2 (03:01):
Of Oh, I'm about to tell it. But what I'm
saying is she told me twice that she probably would
be okay, and we had to get rid of anything,
it would be the fish. And so I asked a
bunch of my friends on my personal social media, Hey,
anybody wants some fish? Yeah, here's you can have the
tank and the gravel and the fish and the food.
You know, I might even clean the tank for you
if you want it all. And someone that we work

(03:24):
with here said, you know I might like them. Oh,
so you guys got two small children. I almost got
rid of them. And then I told Phoebe, guess what
Miss Mary who works with us, wants to fish.

Speaker 3 (03:34):
And you should have seen her face fall.

Speaker 1 (03:37):
Oh.

Speaker 2 (03:37):
She was so upset that I had made those arrangements
that she completely didn't about face and wants the fish,
wants to fight for the fish.

Speaker 1 (03:45):
So when it came time to actually get rid of
the fish, of the fish, which surprised me too, because
I mean, we thought we were all good. It's like
family decision. Yep, that's right, Jenny, were good. Murphy had
the car running. No, No, In fact, I was in
such a hurry. I was just gonna move at tank
with water and all. But we didn't. But we didn't

(04:06):
get to do that.

Speaker 2 (04:07):
So I go to I go to the pet store. Yeah,
they know me by name. I'm like Norman cheers in there.
I walk in and she's like, health nugget.

Speaker 3 (04:17):
He's great.

Speaker 2 (04:17):
I'm not here for dragon reasons though, right now I'm
here for fish. She's like, I didn't realize you had fish.
I said, oh, here's a story for you.

Speaker 1 (04:23):
We didn't either.

Speaker 2 (04:25):
I was really thinking, what was I going to buy
new gravel? I was literally gonna buy new I can't remember.

Speaker 3 (04:31):
What I was supposed to buy. Oh no, yeah, that's
sucker fish.

Speaker 1 (04:34):
You were going to buy a sucker fish. And we
were going to replace the gravel because what we were
going to do is temporarily take the fish out, clean
the tank, start from scratch. It's like, okay, if we're
going to keep these fish, let's just put them in
a you know, in a cleaned out, completely cleaned out tank.
I just didn't feel like doing the vacuum because, quite frankly,
it was a lot it was kind of gross, you
know what I mean? This time, it was like, okay,
even though the water the water was clear, but the

(04:55):
gravel was nasty. So let's start from scratch. Jody's gonna
come home with the extra sucker fish, so that we
had a little extra cleaning power built in, right, and
then new gravel, right and.

Speaker 2 (05:05):
Ten gallon tank and then that Two people at the
pet store and they weren't like tag team and me.

Speaker 3 (05:10):
Two separate people in different aisles were like.

Speaker 2 (05:13):
You have two fish, two goldfish and two sucker fish
and a ten gallon tank. She said, that's why your
tank is filthy. That's way too small for them and
they're going to eventually get stressed out and die.

Speaker 1 (05:25):
Too small.

Speaker 2 (05:26):
It's too small. It's only ten gallons. It's small, and
like I supposedly.

Speaker 1 (05:30):
One to me, Oh, they didn't upsell you, did they?

Speaker 3 (05:33):
I did?

Speaker 2 (05:33):
No?

Speaker 3 (05:34):
I did. I called Murphy and I said, look, I'm
sorry to tell you this, but.

Speaker 1 (05:38):
I know you sent me for rocks, but gallons. Not
only are we not getting rid of the fish.

Speaker 2 (05:43):
Now we're buying a new tank, a bigger one. It's
so pretty and big. But here's the deal. I was told, basically,
break it down to goldfish. You need like thirty nine gallons.
So we didn't do that. We went to a twenty
gallon and it's beautiful and it's so clean and lovely.

Speaker 3 (06:00):
Did it take a long time? To switch them. Yes,
it did.

Speaker 2 (06:03):
That was our whole Sunday evening.

Speaker 3 (06:06):
And you know who was.

Speaker 2 (06:08):
Who led the project through Murphy, Oh he was mister
fish Man.

Speaker 3 (06:13):
Yeah, rocked it.

Speaker 1 (06:15):
It's amazing how long it actually takes with one picture
that you keep going back to fill up a twenty
great pictures. And I was helping Phoebe feel about it now.

Speaker 2 (06:23):
She loves it now and she's very happy and she
does want to vacuum the gravel going forward.

Speaker 1 (06:28):
I'll give it to you. It's a beautiful tank, no doubt.
But I'm just sitting here shocking. How do we go
from all right, we're downsizing from the fig to now
we've got to have a bigger tank just because quote
unquote they need more rooms.

Speaker 2 (06:41):
You know what they do now? That was my statement.
I am not going to have any pet that's not
getting what they need. And our crazy zoo so close
to getting rid of them.

Speaker 1 (06:51):
Yeah, I know, that's what I'm saying. It was clear,
it was fine. It's not like they were living in
filth or something like that.

Speaker 3 (06:55):
Way. Do you see how pretty the tank is? Though?
It's like oct is it like a knockagon like and
then it's it's high. It's more vertical.

Speaker 1 (07:03):
Yeah, it's more vertical than it is.

Speaker 3 (07:05):
It's got led lights.

Speaker 1 (07:07):
Oh, well, as they all do. No, you know the
other thing that was surprising is when I was actually
removing the other fish. There's two goldfish and the one
sucker fish, so we thought it was funny when I
stuck the net and there's like, wait a second, there's
two sucker fish again. How did that happen? I thought
he died six months ago.

Speaker 3 (07:26):
He was hidden underneath all the gunk.

Speaker 1 (07:28):
I guess. You know, the tank was too small according
to everybody's you know, advice, so he was busy, really
busy trying to clean Lucky you missed.

Speaker 2 (07:37):
Any part of the show.
