the Murphy Sam with Jody Podcast. We had a good
time last night, Sam, because you know, our youngest daughter,
Phoebe was in a summer camp play and actually our
allostaught of Taylor when the council I have to do
the counselor part right exactly, so she's rounding up all
the kids backstage.
Speaker 2 (00:17):
Well, she was busy all week helping the film, and
then last night during the place she was attech, she was,
you know, running doing all the things that you do backstage,
moving sets and painting sets and all that. But Phoebe
this is it was Peter Pan and she was tinker Bell.
We're going to get to that how perfect casting that is,
because I've always said she's a fairy, and boy, she

really did it. But of course, you know, I told
you my worry was the seating. My worry was I
really wanted to be on the front row.
Speaker 3 (00:44):
I'm sorry, A.
Speaker 2 (00:46):
Kid had a principal, Yeah, and I wanted to be
in the front row. So what the word that came
down was that it was doors open at six point thirty.
Show starts at seven, and so I was like Murphy
we've got to leave, We've got to we walk.
Speaker 1 (01:00):
It was like, you know the after Thanksgiving sale, Judy
was right through open all right, doors about to open,
come on things.
Speaker 2 (01:08):
Wait, no, no, you would think I would have been
that with all that meticulous planning. We don't live very
far at all from this theater, and so I was like, Murphy,
we have to leave at six fifteen. Well we left
at six twenty three, so anyway we get here was
around the block. Murphy's gonna park. I'm like, please let
me out the door. Okay, So he lets me out
the door. I walk in, I go straight down the
aisle and there.
Speaker 3 (01:28):
Are already people sitting in the first two rows. It
was six twenty nine. I'm literally like, what do I
have to do. I need to camp out like I
used to when I was a teenager for concerts.
Speaker 1 (01:41):
That's right. You need to pretend like this was Motley Crue.
Speaker 2 (01:45):
My dear friend Amy, who was sitting on the front row,
whose daughter was Peter pan right, had saved a couple
of seats in the second row, had her sister or
somebody a friend saving him. So she gave me those

about that's right, thing about the something about the seat,
and I almost almost said, my daughter's think her.

About Yeah, I think you know, because this general admission
you had everybody kind of doing the same thing that
Jody was doing.

Yeah, and I've done it before, but I didn't want to.

I was so sweet though, of your friend Amy to
do that, you know why.
Speaker 3 (02:17):
She was like, oh, wait, I know that Phoebe's tank
once't you sit right here?
Speaker 1 (02:20):
I'm like, thanks, what's funny about this? Sem is? It
all happened so quickly, and since I parked the car,
didn't know that was going on. So I finally get
into the auditorium and I'm walking down and I'm like,
where's Jody. Where's Jody? And I say, wow, great seats.
Speaker 2 (02:34):
As usually have no idea what trouble I had to
go to walk in like Joe Cool, Frank Sinatra, Hey, babies,
what's up?
Speaker 3 (02:41):
Great seats broad Anyway, I want to say this.
Speaker 2 (02:44):
I don't know if this is the case with other
parents when your child is at a sporting event like
or what, but for something like this specifically, I knew
she was nervous, so I was nervous in those first
few moments leading up to it, and I knew that
she was counting down the show is about to start
and the lights go down.
Speaker 3 (03:02):
I was so nervous for her.
Speaker 2 (03:04):
She was nervous and excited, really wanted this role specifically,
And now I see why Murphy.
Speaker 3 (03:09):
Did you see all of her stuff? She was sort
of the narrator.
Speaker 2 (03:13):
She came out and said, Hi, I'm Tinkerbell, you know,
and and you know I'm gonna help you through this story.
Speaker 3 (03:18):
Most people only hear me, hear bells when I talk,
and it was just so cute.
Speaker 2 (03:23):
But she also got to have bells on her hands,
so all throughout us she's jingling. She was wearing a
bag attached to her with pixie dust in it.
Speaker 1 (03:33):
Oh, she got to throw glitter du several times. That
made it really cool and it's.
Speaker 3 (03:38):
Better than glitter.
Speaker 2 (03:39):
Actually, the director was telling me that one of the leaders,
she's a sweet, sweet friend of ours, was saying, it's
not just glitter, because glitter is a nightmare to clean up.
It was shredded up. My lar balloons cleans up easier
and catches the light better. So when she flung it, wow, okay,
it would really catch the light.
Speaker 3 (03:58):
It was so cool.
Speaker 2 (03:59):
I'm like, I was lucky enough to get a picture
when she flung the the first thing of Pixie Does.
Speaker 3 (04:04):
I got a picture. We'll post it.
Speaker 1 (04:06):
I'm making a note of that right now. Note to self.
Theater trick. Yeah, I remember that next time. I'm a faery.
Speaker 2 (04:12):
Yeah, And the thing is watching them. They didn't actually fly,
but she would have. I know she would have gotten
on a cable and totally flown. They did.
Speaker 3 (04:21):
Fact, it was.
Speaker 1 (04:22):
It was cool though. This is really her first performance
where she came out and not only was she the
lead role, but she was she was the first to speak.

She's like, okay, Mom, well just you know, a light airy, positive,
you know, fun.

Yeah, but with the little sass which is tinker Bell, Yeah,

So it was a lot of fun.

And by the way, Murphy, you know, they get to
perform it once one more time today, doing one more
for other campers that come home.

Yeah, not people that are backpacking out in the wood,
