But you know what, it's funny that you you just
brought up something. A lot of people who have Christmas
birthdays don't like it because their birthday gets whatever lost lost.
I've always loved having my birthday near fourth of July.
I just think it's a special day in our country
for the July So I think it's kind of cool
that I'm right up next to it.
Speaker 3 (00:28):
Well, you don't lose out on any gifts either, I
mean the Christmas birthdays you can kind of lose.
Speaker 2 (00:31):
Oh, is that the deal? That's the deal, Okay, got it?
Speaker 1 (00:33):
Yeah, because it's all about the present. Saying, of course
it is.
Speaker 3 (00:37):
Talking as we have about all the fireworks and Murphy
our big ex caliber. It reminded me of when I
was a kid and where we lived in New Orleans,
and I think the whole city is still this way
where it fireworks were illegal.
Speaker 2 (00:50):
Sure.
Speaker 1 (00:50):
Yeah, well most cities are different parts of the country.
I mean there are states and places that you can't
right you know, because the dry season is the summer season,
you know. I mean there's fire.
Speaker 2 (01:00):
Where they do them for a week.
Speaker 1 (01:01):
Right, So it's very much a I think a regional thing,
all right. Well that didn't stop us, and my parents
were all in on this one too. In front of
the house, we had lagustrums the hedges, yes, and they.
Speaker 2 (01:13):
Were about and those things kill my allergies, but.
Speaker 3 (01:16):
Oh yeah they do. They drove them, mom nuts three
or four feet tall, you know, solid row on both
sides of the house. And so that's what they would do.
They would set up TV tray out there and that's
what we would put our fireworks on the TV tray
behind all the gustle, glassy.
Speaker 1 (01:28):
Well, this doesn't sound safe at all that way.
Speaker 3 (01:31):
I don't mean shooting them from there. That was where
we kept them just in case any for any reason,
somebody might drive by a look at your hedge, right,
And so the thing is everybody in the neighborhood was
shooting them, so so and then we'd go out, we'd
shoot them, and that's where we had them stored. So yeah,
I gotta thank mom and dad for that one.
Speaker 2 (01:47):
I grew up in the country, as you know. Yeah,
and there was one incident that I remember where my
brother and I'm sorry, Jimmy, if you're listening, to throw
you under the bus, but I know you don't care.
It was a long time ago. My brother and his
friends were in front of our barn, and in front
of our barn was this long yard and then the road,
(02:08):
the gravel country road. But there were people driving on
it because we lived at the front of like a
if you can believe it, country sort of could a sack. Yeah, okay,
and country could a sack. Well, it was a road
and it went in a circle and it came back.
You know, houses were spaced out far but there it
was sort of a subdivision in the country. Okay. And
(02:28):
so they were in front of the barn shooting off.
I guess they're bottle rockets. I don't know. They go,
they fly out and then and their goal was, and
this is dumb, and they didn't know any better, or
maybe they did. Their goal was to get it in
front of a car to scare whoever was driving. And
when my dad found out that that's what they were doing,
they got in right. Dangerous, of course, but they were

you know, country kids who had bottle rockets. What do
you want me to say, that's all I know. I've
always I never messed with a I don't feel comfortable
around fireworks. I like to watch them from afar. I'm
not crazy about the noise, and so I've never messed
with them much.
Speaker 1 (03:09):
Well, you know, my mother was the one who and
moms typically are the dads are the ones that tend
to kind of over push the limit, you know what
I mean. Yeah, yeah, but my mom was always about
the safety. We didn't live in the city limits, and
in that particular area that we lived, it wasn't you
could you could shoot them legally, right, Well, you but
that we had a problem with it. A neighbor one
time who was shooting them from his car port directly
(03:29):
at our house. So what do you think my mother
did the fireball that she is.
Speaker 2 (03:34):
Oh, she was a firecracker in her own right.
Speaker 1 (03:36):
She immediately picks up the phone and calls and anytime
a sentence starts with yeah, I just want to let
you know your son, she was kind of lightning to
the neighbors, you know, for that shooting fireworks at our
house man, and it stopped.
Speaker 2 (03:50):
Producer Bailey, you said that your grandfather really doesn't like
them or didn't. Well, he did, he didn't.
Speaker 4 (03:56):
He didn't enjoy the fact that like this is such
a patriotic vent is being celebrated in a way that
is pretty detrimental to like veterans and like veterans with
PTSD that would be not triggered by such a well
loud explosion.
Speaker 2 (04:12):
It's you know what, that's a very sensitive thought for him,
have very empathetic sensitive thought. It may not affect many,
but the people that it does affect, it's probably great.
It's probably hard for them.
Speaker 1 (04:25):
That's really an interesting I've never heard that position before,
but that makes total sense to me.
Speaker 4 (04:30):
Yeah, I mean once once the sun goes down, all
those explosions everywhere.
Speaker 2 (04:35):
I saw something online, of course, and I don't remember
the details of it because it was one of those
things I was scanning through social media. But there's some country,
not our country, but there's some country that there they
found a way to do or maybe it was fake news,
quiet fireworks. You get to see the.

Fake it was lasers, whatever.
Speaker 2 (04:56):
It's not the big explosions, but it's still pretty. And
that's what really enjoyed. No I scrolled, is what I'm saying.
That's what I'm saying, maybe it was fake news.

Could well, I could see that being done with lasers.
It's probably not as brilliant.

Yeah, I've seen some stuff that's being developed that you can,
like you stick it on top of a truck and
it all it'll shoot lasers that will physically end in
the air, which is weird.

Yeah, but you know what about air travel and stuff
that seems to me be Yeah, there's a danger there too.
It's already illegal to point those up in the sky.
Speaker 2 (05:28):
So yeah, okay, you're right, you're right, you're right. My
most recent experience, favorite experience with fireworks was last summer,
Murphy when we were in Dollywood riding roller coasters, closing
down the park and every night, right before they close,
they have every night a beautiful fireworks show and you
can see it from wherever you are, Like I was
(05:50):
literally on a roller coaster with Phoebe at one point
when it started happening. It was beautiful and it's to
all this great patriotic music and Dolly music of course,
and there and the one of the crew people at
the park told us a secret. We had seen it
one night and then we saw it the last night
and she had told us, By the way, there's a
Dolly has her own special butterfly firework in the middle

of that, and you gotta watch to find it. So
I've never watched a display more closely than that one,
and I did find it.

That was the moment they had these two huge purple
burst and it's got the little yellow butterfly.
Speaker 2 (06:30):
Can I ever say her name without you saying the
things saying too huge?

Well, I'm just saying no. I mean that burst, That's
what I was talking about.

It looked like a little butterfly. It was really really
