On Tuesday morning, Jodi has a really cool life hack
if you want to surprise somebody who's traveling coming.

Yes, I have two. This is kind of embarrassing to
admit this, but it was a teaching moment that I
have with my son, Jackson, who was fourteen, and brought
him up to work with me for a few hours yesterday.
And when we were leaving the building, on the garbage
can that's right outside the front door, ye, top of
the can, there were four packs unopened of pop tarts.
Speaker 1 (00:35):
Oh wait wait wait wait wait on the garbage can.
Speaker 3 (00:38):
Yeah, on top of the garbage can, on the lid,
it was four unopened. You know, we're sitting like in
a square two and two.
Speaker 2 (00:44):
Unopened on top of a garbage can.
Speaker 3 (00:47):
Yeah. And to me it was like somebody must like
didn't use me there thinking everybody wants him take them.
And so my son Jackson, that was like, you know,
cheese to a rat. Oh look, free pop tarts And
I was like whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa whoa. No, he
had picked up two of them, and I was like,
you don't pick up free food, especially when it's sitting
on top of a garbage can.
Speaker 2 (01:06):
Yes, if something is sitting on top of a garbage can,
it's garbage to me. If it's next to it or
on top of it, it's garbage.
Speaker 3 (01:13):
Well, the way they were arranged, I assume someone nicely
put them there thinking someone would pick them up and
take them, because they were perfectly arranged. But they were
on top of our garbage right and there. You don't
know who put them there. And so he starts arguing
with them, that will someone put them here for somebody
to take? They're not opened yet, it's okay. I was like,
do you don't have any clue what's been done to

those pop tarts? And so I started to walk away
and he was still holding two of them. Wow. So
I turned around and I said, put them.
Speaker 2 (01:41):
Down, step away well from the pop tarts.
Speaker 1 (01:44):
But he was using was the teenage logic of it's
wrapped in cellophane and it's sealed for your protection.
Speaker 3 (01:49):
It's free, take it. So he put the pop tarts
down and we walked away. Sorry, you know, I explained
to him, if it's free food, if somebody brings it
to your office or to whatever. Then that's one but
pop tarts sitting on a garbage can outside of building.
Speaker 1 (02:03):
Yeah, and I think you see that's you know, Jody's
logic is correct on that on top of a garbage can.
Is still in the garbage can. As far as I'm concerned, Can.

I ask what flavors?

legendary music producer and writer David Foster. Like a million really, yes,
a million things come to my brain. But he produced

thirty four. He put a big ring on it, a
big bling ring. She shared it in social media the
other day. But the story behind it is that her
dad died like a week ago, and she said she
was so happy to share the ring because it was
the last conversation they had. She showed her dad the ring.
He was happy for her, and then she showed the world.

little dilemma at home where summer reading. You know, you've
got a couple of books our girls have to finish
before school starts.

Well, just Phoebe, she got two books and we told
her one book before vacation and one after. This is
after vacation. Is she's still in the first book. Yeah,
So the rule kind of we laid down with her
yesterday is that two chapters, then you can take a
break and have a snack. Two chapters, then you can
walk it off. Two chapters, then you can hang out,
but two at a time, several times a day. That's

how we're doing it.

Yeah, well, I think it's a good plan. Eight seven

I just wanted to add some common stuff the summer
reading as a child, I hated reading. I still have
a hard time with it, and because part of it
is we now know that I have martial dyslexia. So
I always thought I just didn't like reading, but because
it was so hard for me. Sure, But what I

found now when I do read, I like nonfiction, you know,
autobiography and things like that, and a lot of the
readings for kids isn't based around that type of stuff, right,
So trying to find Like I know, you guys said
your child has a hard time finding getting into books.
Maybe finding something down a different road, as a different

avenue may help.
Speaker 2 (06:48):
You know. It's funny you say that because she Phoebe,
who has to read two books. One of them is required.
She didn't get to pick it. It's like a fantasy
novel and she's not liking it, but she's super excited
about her other choes, which is a non fiction and
she wants to read it. So she's that person. Yeah,
so you are so right. It's about finding what they're

interested in, because everybody's interested.

In something exactly, and there's a genre out there for everyone.

Yeah.

Yeah, I love fiction. I can't under It's almost like
I can't understand somebody not wanting to dive into the
world of fiction.

For me, Murphy's not following the characters.

reading anything?

I'm not. I think one of the last ones I
read was American Sniper.

That was a great book for usual.

The movie didn't do it justin No, it didn't.

After reading the book, I couldn't wait to see the movie.

because it was just selling out. Well, good news, Bruce
is coming to Netflix.

Yes, they recorded Springsteen on Broadway. It's gonna pop up
on Netflix December the fifteenth, which coincidentally is the last
day of that he's gonna be on Broadway.

it out there before he's done.

So I get to see it, and that'll be fun.

to disconnect like that because always being in mom in
work mode constantly, you know, I mean, Jody' is the
type that she would grab she'll grab a book and
in three minutes she's falling asleep because the day's been
so long. VA know you didn't you got that?

While I breathe anyway, Yeah, every time I sit down
with a book, he's like, hey, Mom, can I smuggle with.

Okay. So I did read three books while on while
on vacation. They're online for you in the Not So
Serious Book Club. One of them is called The Widow
by Fiona Barton. It's a thriller and the only reason
I picked it up is because Stephen King recommended it
and it was a thriller and it was creepy though.
Just know that subject matter is not easy. But it

was a edge of my seat.
Speaker 1 (12:30):
I guess that's why Stephen King recommended it.
Speaker 2 (12:32):
Right. The other one was a Stephen King book, a
small book that I took when we went to our
little work trip because it was short and I thought
from flight to flight. And it was called The Girl
who Loved Tom Gordon, not supernatural, not scary, well a
baseball player. And it's about a nine year old girl
who gets lost in the wilderness, like literally gets lost
(12:54):
from her family and it's just her story that's freaking.
It is so good. You know he can write a
really good drum. I'm a story. This was it. My
heart was in my throat. But I have to give
you props. Sam. You know I don't like time travel.
I'll read these fantasy except time travel. I'm like, ah,
you suggested. I read eleven twenty two sixty three by
(13:15):
Stephen King right, which is a time travel book. A
man who goes back in time and decides that or
tries to figure out whether he should try to stop
the afks after he has the opportunity to stop it
or let it go favorite Stephen King book I've ever read?
Uh huh, favorite Stephen King book I've ever read? I think,
I really think so. In fact, I have a couple
chapters left and I don't want to finish it because

I don't want it to be over with. That's so
so would I enjoy that if? Yes, it's that, Murphy,
But you don't like fiction. It's a thick one.

We'll make it five pages in quit.

It's kind of historical fiction with a twist.

Yes, but I don't think you would like it. No,
And it's long. You would fall asleep with it?

And I remember when they made Suicide Squad they had
Jared Leto and everybody said, oh, it's going to be

and he wasn't in the movie enough. And I'll say
this probably if I have to pick a favorite villain
in the Batman world, it's Joker.

Never or don't even say that. Okay, First of all,
did you know that this origin movie they're making about
Joker is going to star Joking Phoenix as the Joker? Now?
Can you see that? Do you think of Joaquin Phoenix?
Do you think of Johnny Cash? Because I do.

I just can't do this song anymore unless.

But I also think remember he supposedly retired from the business,
and he did this.

But because that's what he was like or portraying in
real life, Yeah, perfect set up for the Joker. You're
right if you think, man, this guy's a little off
kilter in real life, he could be really good.

So here's what we know, because there's some big news
about it. This Joker origin story is not going to
be anything like the DC comics sort of thing, just
completely different. It's not going to feel like some sort
of superhero movie right number one, It's gonna be a
lot darker, if that's possible, saying darker origin story. And

guess who's also in talks and working with Warner Brothers
to be a part of it. Robert de Niro. This
would be his first kind of comic book story. Yeah,
that they're gonna do it comic book like. But he's set.
The deal's been made apparently, or it's happening right now
that he'll play a talk show host that was somehow
involved in the origin of Joker.
Speaker 3 (16:16):
Let's see with him and Joaquin it's got, it's set
up edgy, it's set up good. Now they can come through.
That's a different thing.
Speaker 2 (16:24):
I think Joaquin probably can. They're not even filming yet.
Coming up in your next Hollywood outside of this morning
around seven to fifty five, another Stephen King story gonna
make it to the big screen.

So I should say I woke up smiling this morning,
you know, because Jody made one of the best meals
yesterday and it's actually your recipe. Sam. Yeah, have you
the credit for the for introducing this to this one.
Speaker 2 (16:55):
Yeah, this is an oldie, but goodie. I say that
from our website that you gave us a couple of
years ago. The honey garlic y slow cooked slow cooker ribs.
Yeah yeah, Oh my gosh. So I'm at the grocery
store yesterday. I bought a beautiful rack of ribs and
it's at extra meaty and they were there was a
lot of meat.
Speaker 1 (17:16):
You know, Sam used to get in trouble when he
would compliment the butcher on how nice they were, but
you know him.
Speaker 2 (17:21):
Oh uh, all right, back to the ribs. We did
them in the slow cooker, and it's the easiest little recipe.
You make a rub and you rub the ribs with
the rub, and then you put them in the slow cooker.
Like there's specifics about it, like meat side out, like
bones inward, and you just lay them in there and
then you pour this mixture of like is it soy,
(17:44):
sauce and garlic and honey, it's them and you just
slow cook it and it was they came out. I
didn't overdo it this time.

I remember the last time with Jody. Jody decided on
her own, I think it needs to cook longer than
what the recipe says, and so they burn. These were perfect.

He's more perfect. I did exactly seven and a half hours.
It's a six or it says seven or eight hours.
I did seven and a half hours. They were so
good off the Oh my gosh, I can't wait for
lunch today for leftovers, not that there are a lot,

you too, Producer Bailey, I created and made something for
Murphy and put it right in front of him and
he didn't even acknowledge it, and it broke my heart
a little bit. I need to know why we're gonna
do that on the way. Coming up next though, if
you want to impress somebody who's traveling, we got a
life hack. It worked on us. That's next. Here's a

trick in life to use to life hack. Well, yeah,
it's an amazing thing that a friend of ours did
for us recently. So our friend June Lovey June. She
sent gift baskets to us at our hotel when we
did our Murphy, Sam and Jody trip recently.
Speaker 1 (19:07):
It was just sort of an arrival gift and I
was not expecting. I was so sweet.
Speaker 2 (19:10):
Well, Sam told me she asked what my you know,
what my name was reservation. So Sam said, it's got something.
Speaker 3 (19:19):
From you say she was saying anything, but she asked
what my reservation was on there.
Speaker 2 (19:22):
It's like, so Sam's like a hardy boy over here, going, okay,
I think there might be something in the rooms. When
we get there, I'm like, okay, sure, Sam.
Speaker 1 (19:29):
The same reason we don't let them tell us about
TV shows.
Speaker 2 (19:31):
Yes, it's a spoiloiler. Okay. So when we get it's
a long travel day. We got to our hotel, what
one thirty in the morning, Yeah, it was Sam. You
go to your room. Me and Murphy go to our
room and it's like one thirty in the morning and
I'm sort of unpacking, brushing my teeth, washing my face,
and I see this thing sitting on the table in
(19:53):
the room and it looks like a garbage bag or
something like it's just wrapped up, and I'm like, what
is this And I start ripping the paperweight and it's
a fruit and candy basket. It's beautiful, and I'm like, whoa,
it's got cheese. It's cold. It's got cheese in it too,
so it was cold, Like, oh my god, Sam was right.
June did send something right?
Speaker 1 (20:15):
Yeah, And we hadn't had anything to eat, so I
tore it really fast.
Speaker 2 (20:19):
I go to the bathroom real quick, getting ready for bed,
and I hear Murphy in the room talking and I
walk out to him. You know how he talks into
his phone. He's smart with a thank you quickly. Did
you send her a text or an email via your voice? Hi? June,
you are the best. This fruit basket is amazing.
Speaker 1 (20:42):
Yeah, a voice texted her.
Speaker 4 (20:43):
The two things.

Number one, it's a great idea to send somebody something
like when they're checking into a hotel and they don't
expect it. It's so cool. It was, June. We enjoyed
it every single night we were there. It was just
a special.

Exce wasn't where Sam was expecting it.

And then fee for you to send the thank you immediately.
I also love that.

I waited till the next morning and I sent her Hey,
thanks for the fruit basket. The cherries are delicious, and
they were.

The green grapes were awesome too.

Yep, all right, gift idea, note to.

Self, note to self. That's how you're saying. We were
at a media conference the other day.

That sounds fancy, it really does.

That was our work trip, me Murphy, Sam and producer Bailey.
And on the last day of the conference there it
was a morning meeting and they were like, oh, by
the way, before we get underwaigh, everybody free bloody Mary
bar over here to the left, and I was like what,
And so we had just had breakfast.

So that's the thing to start talking about first day
when I'm gonna tell you, I know, I.
Speaker 2 (21:44):
Mean once in the right while it was like nine
o'clock into a but.

You need you need to clarify. I guess you're gonna I'm.

little bit. Okay, So so we I go get in
line for the bloody Mary bar and the bartender puts
a little vodka in the cup and I said, that's
a and then he poured the bloody Mary mix and
then I said thank you, and I go to the
left and there's all the stuff celery sticks and olives
and like woostersure sauce and everything, pickles, everything you want

to put in a bloody Mary. I's like, it's Christmas,
you know, I'm doing making mine and I go sit down.
I sit down next to Sam Murphy. You were busy networking,
doing what you were supposed to do.

Yeah, it's not drinking a bloody marry.
Speaker 2 (22:23):
Sam's like, can I get a virgin one? I was like, yeah,
you can, I said, because he poured the alcohol separately.
So Sam's up, goes over to the bar.

I got my mix, put my stick of bacon in.
Speaker 2 (22:34):
There, and as soon as you get up to do that,
I'm thinking, oh, I'm gonna make one for Murphy, a
virgin bloody Mary, because you also love bloody Mary's. So
I go get in line again. I told the bartender
this is really not for me, as I know I
was just here. This is really for my husband, but
I need a virgin one. And he was like, okay,
So I watch him carefully for you pour just bloody
(22:55):
Mary mix on the ice. Then I went crazy for you.
I put everything I knew you'd like sell resalt around
the room I put a slice of bacon in there
that looked awesome and olives, and I was so proud
of it, and I sat it down in front of you.
I was like, look, it's virgin brother may Mary, and
you were like yeah. And we go and the conference happens,
and I drink mine happily and Sam drinks his happily,
(23:16):
and we leave and it's over and that sucker is untouched.
Speaker 1 (23:20):
Yeah, why did you not dorink? I forgot about that. Well,
there were two reasons I didn't drink that. Number one,
this happens to me is they're spicy, and I didn't
want to start coughing and choking if I swallowed wrong
in the middle of the meetings, since there was stuff
going on stage. But the second reason was, honestly is
it occurred to me. Well, I know we had got
getten a big conversation the night before with somebody about

the reason that I had stopped drinking, and I didn't
want somebody looking over at the table going, well, he
stopped drinking.
Speaker 2 (23:50):
I can't worry about what other people think of you.
Speaker 1 (23:52):
Yeah, But I mean, to me, in a conference like that,
it impression is everything. So I like it looked like
a real bloody Mary, even though it wasn't. So the
last thing I want to communicate.
Speaker 2 (24:00):
You were worried that I was. I accidentally gave you
a real one, and I never would do that. I'm
very careful.
Speaker 1 (24:05):
It was twofold. I mean, I'm being honest with you.
It was a part of it was about the way
it looked to me.
Speaker 2 (24:09):
It was gorgeous, though was it was.
Speaker 1 (24:11):
Man, that was a good looking piece of bacon. But
I wasn't about to touch that baby. And one of
the favorite things about coming back from vacation and traveling
and all that, like we did, is we get to
go back through the Murphy Sam and Jodi twenty four
our voicemail and catch things that you know, we missed
while we were out. So again, you can reach us

One of the things that haunted me on our little
haunted trip is that the first night at the hotel,
the first day, Murphy left tip a gratuity on the
pillow for housekeeping, and she didn't take it, and so
the next day she left the tip again.

She moved it to the night stand. That was really
it was interesting. I got that's the first time, you know,
and it's I don't travel. I'm not the worldly guy, right,
but I travel enough that it's always taken off the
pillow and it's always been okay.
Speaker 2 (25:03):
And so the next day when you put the tip
there again and then we left, I literally told you
on the elevator. Now, like, I hope she takes it.
I'm so I don't understand her not taking the gratuity.

Well, we might have an answer for this. That was

Now, I travel quite a bit and one of the
things I do for the housekeeping tip is I actually
get a thank you card and then on the front
right for housekeeping and try to let them note there,
you know, thank you for keeping my room so clean,
and I just leave it, usually on the last day
at Fetes day. So that's another tip.

That's a great idea. Yeah, I mean, Samy, did mention
writing a note? Did you actually write yours note?

I just put mine on the desk and I put
one of the glasses on top of it, like obviously

Yeah, I like the note idea. Now if you've stayed
for three days and you leave one final tip. Are
you for sure that the same person cleaned your room
three days?

I just I don't know, you know what I mean.
I guess you could write a note for each day,
and you can. You always use a little pad that
comes with the hotel, you know, right before you steal
the pen and take it with you.

after my birthday, right before vacation, I put it on.

after we started working together that but before the first
Hollywood Outsider of the morning, you were sneezing, Sam, and
I'm like, man, it's lovely, but you never take it.

The thing is, you never had this conversation with Sam
or me when not back in the day.

I was ready for a new scent anyway, and I
kind of just put two together and anyway, So we
had been apart for weeks, okay, not in the same
workspace or whatever. So yesterday morning I put on Lovely.
After I got the shower, I thought, here's a test day.
I'm not gonna say anything. Four squirts, two on my neck,
one on each wrist. Right, bust it up in here.

You and I are sharing the same space at first, Sam,
for a good little while before anybody else brings their
pheromones in here or whatever, and you didn't sneeze.

I don't know what's going on, but I think I
can wear Lovely again.

I'm freaking out at this. Well, I'll say that the
trailer just felt it. I feel like I had watched
a little mini movie. It's gonna premiere at the seventy
fifth Annual Vennis Film Festival, and not in competition, but
premiere next month. And I guess the reason that's notable
is because a lot of films that have ended up
in Oscar contention premiere here like La La Land and Spotlights, right,

So that's what's gonna land first where audiences will see it,
and then we get it in theaters October the fifth.

dropped them in there in the morning. We went and
did a bunch of stuff with the girls and all

It's kind of funny to me that you put Stephen
King books in there, though, because those are pretty intense,

you know, yeah, intriguing stories. They're fiction.

Put some new ones in there, The Girl Who Loved
Tom Gordon, which is a short novel by Stephen King
that was great about a nine year old girl who
gets lost from her family in the wilderness and you know,
does she make it or not?

No, it's not like that. It's not that kind of
Stephen King. It's more of a survival, more of a
you know, a nine year old kid in the wilderness,
like lost. So seriously gave me it was It's really good.
And then the one that I have to thank you
for Sam recommending to me. It's not brand new, but
it's Stephen King eleven, twenty two sixty three about it's

time travel, and you know, I don't know. That's why
I didn't read it wrong.

They did. They did a TV series, was it like
a mini eight episodes on Hulu. So the guy travels
back in time and is trying to make the decision
on whether he stops the jfkss.

Right, because when you stop that, what else do you stop?
You know things? Or start right? Or start kill me
with that? Okay, it was such a good it's such
a good book. And I don't even like time travel,
but it's because it's Stephen King. It's so great. Highly

Yes, I have two. This is kind of embarrassing to
admit this, but it was a teaching moment that I
have with my son, Jackson, who was fourteen, and brought
him up to work with me for a few hours yesterday.
And when we were leaving the building, on the garbage
can that's right outside the front door, ye, top of
the can, there were four packs unopened of pop tarts.
Speaker 1 (00:35):
Oh wait wait wait wait wait on the garbage can.
Speaker 3 (00:38):
Yeah, on top of the garbage can, on the lid,
it was four unopened. You know, we're sitting like in
a square two and two.
Speaker 2 (00:44):
Unopened on top of a garbage can.
Speaker 3 (00:47):
Yeah. And to me it was like somebody must like
didn't use me there thinking everybody wants him take them.
And so my son Jackson, that was like, you know,
cheese to a rat. Oh look, free pop tarts And
I was like whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa whoa. No, he
had picked up two of them, and I was like,
you don't pick up free food, especially when it's sitting
on top of a garbage can.
Speaker 2 (01:06):
Yes, if something is sitting on top of a garbage can,
it's garbage to me. If it's next to it or
on top of it, it's garbage.
Speaker 3 (01:13):
Well, the way they were arranged, I assume someone nicely
put them there thinking someone would pick them up and
take them, because they were perfectly arranged. But they were
on top of our garbage right and there. You don't
know who put them there. And so he starts arguing
with them, that will someone put them here for somebody
to take? They're not opened yet, it's okay. I was like,
do you don't have any clue what's been done to
(01:33):
those pop tarts? And so I started to walk away
and he was still holding two of them. Wow. So
I turned around and I said, put them.
Speaker 2 (01:41):
Down, step away well from the pop tarts.
Speaker 1 (01:44):
But he was using was the teenage logic of it's
wrapped in cellophane and it's sealed for your protection.
Speaker 3 (01:49):
It's free, take it. So he put the pop tarts
down and we walked away. Sorry, you know, I explained
to him, if it's free food, if somebody brings it
to your office or to whatever. Then that's one but
pop tarts sitting on a garbage can outside of building.
Speaker 1 (02:03):
Yeah, and I think you see that's you know, Jody's
logic is correct on that on top of a garbage can.
Is still in the garbage can. As far as I'm concerned, Can.

He was happy for her, and then she showed the world.

So the rule kind of we laid down with her
yesterday is that two chapters, then you can take a
break and have a snack. Two chapters, then you can
walk it off. Two chapters, then you can hang out,
but two at a time, several times a day. That's

how we're doing it.

Yeah, well, I think it's a good plan. Eight seven

I just wanted to add some common stuff the summer
reading as a child, I hated reading. I still have
a hard time with it, and because part of it
is we now know that I have martial dyslexia. So
I always thought I just didn't like reading, but because
it was so hard for me. Sure, But what I

found now when I do read, I like nonfiction, you know,
autobiography and things like that, and a lot of the
readings for kids isn't based around that type of stuff, right,
So trying to find Like I know, you guys said
your child has a hard time finding getting into books.
Maybe finding something down a different road, as a different

avenue may help.
Speaker 2 (06:48):
You know. It's funny you say that because she Phoebe,
who has to read two books. One of them is required.
She didn't get to pick it. It's like a fantasy
novel and she's not liking it, but she's super excited
about her other choes, which is a non fiction and
she wants to read it. So she's that person. Yeah,
so you are so right. It's about finding what they're

interested in, because everybody's interested.

In something exactly, and there's a genre out there for everyone.

Yeah, I love fiction. I can't under It's almost like

While I breathe anyway, Yeah, every time I sit down
with a book, he's like, hey, Mom, can I smuggle with.

Okay. So I did read three books while on while
on vacation. They're online for you in the Not So
Serious Book Club. One of them is called The Widow
by Fiona Barton. It's a thriller and the only reason
I picked it up is because Stephen King recommended it
and it was a thriller and it was creepy though.
Just know that subject matter is not easy. But it

was a edge of my seat.
Speaker 1 (12:30):
I guess that's why Stephen King recommended it.
Speaker 2 (12:32):
Right. The other one was a Stephen King book, a
small book that I took when we went to our
little work trip because it was short and I thought
from flight to flight. And it was called The Girl
who Loved Tom Gordon, not supernatural, not scary, well a
baseball player. And it's about a nine year old girl
who gets lost in the wilderness, like literally gets lost
(12:54):
from her family and it's just her story that's freaking.
It is so good. You know he can write a
really good drum. I'm a story. This was it. My
heart was in my throat. But I have to give
you props. Sam. You know I don't like time travel.
I'll read these fantasy except time travel. I'm like, ah,
you suggested. I read eleven twenty two sixty three by
(13:15):
Stephen King right, which is a time travel book. A
man who goes back in time and decides that or
tries to figure out whether he should try to stop
the afks after he has the opportunity to stop it
or let it go favorite Stephen King book I've ever read?
Uh huh, favorite Stephen King book I've ever read? I think,
I really think so. In fact, I have a couple
chapters left and I don't want to finish it because

I don't want it to be over with. That's so
so would I enjoy that if? Yes, it's that, Murphy,
But you don't like fiction. It's a thick one.

Never or don't even say that. Okay, First of all,
did you know that this origin movie they're making about
Joker is going to star Joking Phoenix as the Joker? Now?

right if you think, man, this guy's a little off
kilter in real life, he could be really good.

So here's what we know, because there's some big news
about it. This Joker origin story is not going to
be anything like the DC comics sort of thing, just
completely different. It's not going to feel like some sort
of superhero movie right number one, It's gonna be a
lot darker, if that's possible, saying darker origin story. And

guess who's also in talks and working with Warner Brothers
to be a part of it. Robert de Niro. This
would be his first kind of comic book story. Yeah,
that they're gonna do it comic book like. But he's set.
The deal's been made apparently, or it's happening right now
that he'll play a talk show host that was somehow
involved in the origin of Joker.
Speaker 3 (16:16):
Let's see with him and Joaquin it's got, it's set
up edgy, it's set up good. Now they can come through.
That's a different thing.
Speaker 2 (16:24):
I think Joaquin probably can. They're not even filming yet.
Coming up in your next Hollywood outside of this morning

make it to the big screen.

So I should say I woke up smiling this morning,
you know, because Jody made one of the best meals
yesterday and it's actually your recipe. Sam. Yeah, have you
the credit for the for introducing this to this one.

Yeah, this is an oldie, but goodie. I say that
from our website that you gave us a couple of
years ago. The honey garlic y slow cooked slow cooker ribs.
Yeah yeah, Oh my gosh. So I'm at the grocery
store yesterday. I bought a beautiful rack of ribs and
it's at extra meaty and they were there was a
lot of meat.
Speaker 1 (17:16):
You know, Sam used to get in trouble when he
would compliment the butcher on how nice they were, but
you know him.
Speaker 2 (17:21):
Oh uh, all right, back to the ribs. We did
them in the slow cooker, and it's the easiest little recipe.
You make a rub and you rub the ribs with
the rub, and then you put them in the slow cooker.
Like there's specifics about it, like meat side out, like
bones inward, and you just lay them in there and
then you pour this mixture of like is it soy,
(17:44):
sauce and garlic and honey, it's them and you just
slow cook it and it was they came out. I
didn't overdo it this time.

I remember the last time with Jody. Jody decided on
her own, I think it needs to cook longer than
what the recipe says, and so they burn. These were perfect.

He's more perfect. I did exactly seven and a half hours.
It's a six or it says seven or eight hours.
I did seven and a half hours. They were so
good off the Oh my gosh, I can't wait for
lunch today for leftovers, not that there are a lot,

trick in life to use to life hack. Well, yeah,
it's an amazing thing that a friend of ours did
for us recently. So our friend June Lovey June. She
sent gift baskets to us at our hotel when we
did our Murphy, Sam and Jody trip recently.

It was just sort of an arrival gift and I
was not expecting. I was so sweet.
Speaker 2 (19:10):
Well, Sam told me she asked what my you know,
what my name was reservation. So Sam said, it's got something.
Speaker 3 (19:19):
From you say she was saying anything, but she asked
what my reservation was on there.
Speaker 2 (19:22):
It's like, so Sam's like a hardy boy over here, going, okay,
I think there might be something in the rooms. When
we get there, I'm like, okay, sure, Sam.
Speaker 1 (19:29):
The same reason we don't let them tell us about
TV shows.
Speaker 2 (19:31):
Yes, it's a spoiloiler. Okay. So when we get it's
a long travel day. We got to our hotel, what
one thirty in the morning, Yeah, it was Sam. You
go to your room. Me and Murphy go to our
room and it's like one thirty in the morning and
I'm sort of unpacking, brushing my teeth, washing my face,
and I see this thing sitting on the table in
(19:53):
the room and it looks like a garbage bag or
something like it's just wrapped up, and I'm like, what
is this And I start ripping the paperweight and it's
a fruit and candy basket. It's beautiful, and I'm like, whoa,
it's got cheese. It's cold. It's got cheese in it too,
so it was cold, Like, oh my god, Sam was right.
June did send something right?

Yeah, And we hadn't had anything to eat, so I
tore it really fast.

I go to the bathroom real quick, getting ready for bed,
and I hear Murphy in the room talking and I
walk out to him. You know how he talks into
his phone. He's smart with a thank you quickly. Did
you send her a text or an email via your voice? Hi? June,

at a media conference the other day.

And on the last day of the conference there it
was a morning meeting and they were like, oh, by
the way, before we get underwaigh, everybody free bloody Mary
bar over here to the left, and I was like what,
And so we had just had breakfast.

So that's the thing to start talking about first day
when I'm gonna tell you, I know, I.
Speaker 2 (21:44):
Mean once in the right while it was like nine
o'clock into a but.
Speaker 1 (21:46):
You need you need to clarify. I guess you're gonna I'm.

About to do this because I broke my heart a
little bit. Okay, So so we I go get in
line for the bloody Mary bar and the bartender puts
a little vodka in the cup and I said, that's
a and then he poured the bloody Mary mix and
then I said thank you, and I go to the
left and there's all the stuff celery sticks and olives
and like woostersure sauce and everything, pickles, everything you want
(22:12):
to put in a bloody Mary. I's like, it's Christmas,
you know, I'm doing making mine and I go sit down.
I sit down next to Sam Murphy. You were busy networking,
doing what you were supposed to do.
Speaker 1 (22:22):
Yeah, it's not drinking a bloody marry.
Speaker 2 (22:23):
Sam's like, can I get a virgin one? I was like, yeah,
you can, I said, because he poured the alcohol separately.
So Sam's up, goes over to the bar.
Speaker 3 (22:32):
I got my mix, put my stick of bacon in.
Speaker 2 (22:34):
There, and as soon as you get up to do that,
I'm thinking, oh, I'm gonna make one for Murphy, a
virgin bloody Mary, because you also love bloody Mary's. So
I go get in line again. I told the bartender
this is really not for me, as I know I
was just here. This is really for my husband, but
I need a virgin one. And he was like, okay,
So I watch him carefully for you pour just bloody
(22:55):
Mary mix on the ice. Then I went crazy for you.
I put everything I knew you'd like sell resalt around
the room I put a slice of bacon in there
that looked awesome and olives, and I was so proud
of it, and I sat it down in front of you.
I was like, look, it's virgin brother may Mary, and
you were like yeah. And we go and the conference happens,
and I drink mine happily and Sam drinks his happily,
(23:16):
and we leave and it's over and that sucker is untouched.
Speaker 1 (23:20):
Yeah, why did you not dorink? I forgot about that. Well,
there were two reasons I didn't drink that. Number one,
this happens to me is they're spicy, and I didn't
want to start coughing and choking if I swallowed wrong
in the middle of the meetings, since there was stuff
going on stage. But the second reason was, honestly is
it occurred to me. Well, I know we had got
getten a big conversation the night before with somebody about
(23:41):
the reason that I had stopped drinking, and I didn't
want somebody looking over at the table going, well, he
stopped drinking.
Speaker 2 (23:50):
I can't worry about what other people think of you.
Speaker 1 (23:52):
Yeah, But I mean, to me, in a conference like that,
it impression is everything. So I like it looked like
a real bloody Mary, even though it wasn't. So the
last thing I want to communicate.
Speaker 2 (24:00):
You were worried that I was. I accidentally gave you
a real one, and I never would do that. I'm
very careful.
Speaker 1 (24:05):
It was twofold. I mean, I'm being honest with you.
It was a part of it was about the way
it looked to me.
Speaker 2 (24:09):
It was gorgeous, though was it was.
Speaker 1 (24:11):
Man, that was a good looking piece of bacon. But
I wasn't about to touch that baby. And one of
the favorite things about coming back from vacation and traveling
and all that, like we did, is we get to
go back through the Murphy Sam and Jodi twenty four
our voicemail and catch things that you know, we missed
while we were out. So again, you can reach us

One of the things that haunted me on our little
haunted trip is that the first night at the hotel,
the first day, Murphy left tip a gratuity on the
pillow for housekeeping, and she didn't take it, and so
the next day she left the tip again.

She moved it to the night stand. That was really
it was interesting. I got that's the first time, you know,
and it's I don't travel. I'm not the worldly guy, right,
but I travel enough that it's always taken off the
pillow and it's always been okay.
Speaker 2 (25:03):
And so the next day when you put the tip
there again and then we left, I literally told you
on the elevator. Now, like, I hope she takes it.
I'm so I don't understand her not taking the gratuity.
Speaker 1 (25:14):
Well, we might have an answer for this. That was

Now, I travel quite a bit and one of the
things I do for the housekeeping tip is I actually
get a thank you card and then on the front
right for housekeeping and try to let them note there,
you know, thank you for keeping my room so clean,
and I just leave it, usually on the last day
at Fetes day. So that's another tip.
Speaker 1 (25:40):
That's a great idea. Yeah, I mean, Samy, did mention
writing a note? Did you actually write yours note?

I just put mine on the desk and I put
one of the glasses on top of it, like obviously

Yeah, I like the note idea. Now if you've stayed
for three days and you leave one final tip. Are
you for sure that the same person cleaned your room
three days?

I just I don't know, you know what I mean.
I guess you could write a note for each day,
and you can. You always use a little pad that
comes with the hotel, you know, right before you steal
the pen and take it with you.

I'm like, man, it's lovely, but you never take it.

I was ready for a new scent anyway, and I
kind of just put two together and anyway, So we
had been apart for weeks, okay, not in the same
workspace or whatever. So yesterday morning I put on Lovely.
After I got the shower, I thought, here's a test day.
I'm not gonna say anything. Four squirts, two on my neck,
one on each wrist. Right, bust it up in here.

You and I are sharing the same space at first, Sam,
for a good little while before anybody else brings their
pheromones in here or whatever, and you didn't sneeze.

I'm freaking out at this. Well, I'll say that the
trailer just felt it. I feel like I had watched
a little mini movie. It's gonna premiere at the seventy
fifth Annual Vennis Film Festival, and not in competition, but
premiere next month. And I guess the reason that's notable
is because a lot of films that have ended up
in Oscar contention premiere here like La La Land and Spotlights, right,

So that's what's gonna land first where audiences will see it,
and then we get it in theaters October the fifth.

yesterday and then I made them. We have them for
dinner last night and they were incredible time, Sam, I
didn't burn them good.

Yeah, well Jody that last time. And that's weird for
me too, that the last time Jody said, no, I
think they need to go another hour. It was weird
that you let it go past with the rest of
them said, these were perfect.
Speaker 2 (41:37):
Yeah, so it really has.

And I guess what probably made it best is you
dropped them in there in the morning. We went and
did a bunch of stuff with the girls and all
that right.

In the afternoon.

In the afternoon, and then by the time you got
back home.
Speaker 2 (41:48):
Yeah, the girls like them, Yes, everybody, and the dogs
were dying on the floor like, oh my god, what
is that swell?

The smell? Yeah right, good.
Speaker 2 (41:58):
No, we did not give ribs to the dogs. But

you know, be overally serious about it. I just love
to read for fun.

It's kind of funny to me that you put Stephen
King books in there, though, because those are pretty intense,
you know what I mean, not light, but they're definitely
you know, yeah, intriguing stories. They're fiction.

Put some new ones in there, The Girl Who Loved
Tom Gordon, which is a short novel by Stephen King
that was great about a nine year old girl who
gets lost from her family in the wilderness and you know,
does she make it or not?
Speaker 3 (43:05):
For like clown in this one.
Speaker 2 (43:07):
No, it's not like that. It's not that kind of
Stephen King. It's more of a survival, more of a
you know, a nine year old kid in the wilderness,
like lost. So seriously gave me it was It's really good.
And then the one that I have to thank you
for Sam recommending to me. It's not brand new, but
it's Stephen King eleven, twenty two sixty three about it's
(43:29):
time travel, and you know, I don't know. That's why
I didn't read it wrong.

They did. They did a TV series, was it like
a mini eight episodes on Hulu. So the guy travels
back in time and is trying to make the decision
on whether he stops the jfkss.
Speaker 2 (43:42):
Right, because when you stop that, what else do you stop?
You know things? Or start right? Or start kill me
with that? Okay, it was such a good it's such
a good book. And I don't even like time travel,
but it's because it's Stephen King. It's so great. Highly
