Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's some mervie, Sam and Jody after the show podcast
and thank you for hanging out with us. We do
brand new episodes every day in case this is your
first time downloading and you know, hanging out with us afterwards.
Speaker 2 (00:11):
I just want to say right now on social media,
you just have to forgive the moms for the obligatory
back to school pictures.
Speaker 3 (00:19):
You have to forgive moms.
Speaker 4 (00:20):
Sh they're kids going into the next phrase.
Speaker 1 (00:24):
And when you say obligatory, really, I mean for some
people it's a tradition like you and I Jody. Every
year when the girls go back to school, we've taken
a picture of them in front of the front door.
Speaker 2 (00:33):
I know. And the thing about it is this, I
have this plan. I say that because there's a part
of me that wonders if I'm ever going to do it.
But I really do want to put together some sort
of collage, whether it's an electronic of all of their
back to school pictures, not not the yearbook picture, the
(00:53):
picture of them on the first day of school, like
bright and shiny.
Speaker 1 (00:56):
Yeah, great idea. You're never going to do it, but yes,
well I'm going to tell you it's not you.
Speaker 2 (01:02):
Most of us I mean, all the clauses we have
at the house are my creation.
Speaker 1 (01:07):
It's almost more difficult to go back and find digital
pictures for them over that many years.
Speaker 3 (01:11):
It's true. And that's you though, Well, I'll have to
do it with your help, you know.
Speaker 5 (01:15):
I mean, because you have thousands of pictures.
Speaker 3 (01:18):
You know what I'm saying, Those are the ones I want.
Speaker 4 (01:20):
You can base it on dates, just go looking back
certain dates, right, you know what the school is?
Speaker 5 (01:25):
Oh, that's right. School starts the same time every year.
They never find me.
Speaker 2 (01:29):
We know when they started, and we know when they're
you know, Taylor's about to start her junior year.
Speaker 3 (01:33):
That's that's significant.
Speaker 2 (01:35):
And so you know what's funny is there it's people
that don't have children. When you see that on Facebook,
you're like, oh, I'm so sick of seeing he's all
at one time.
Speaker 3 (01:44):
But it is a huge deal for parents. It just
is Do.
Speaker 5 (01:47):
People get sick of it?
Speaker 3 (01:48):
I've seen and heard some sick of it.
Speaker 4 (01:50):
I saw one of my Facebook friends posted a picture
of a guy with a you know, dressed up for
work and it says my eighty third, eighty three ninety
six day work.
Speaker 1 (02:02):
Well, you know, as the girls have gotten older, Taylor
and Phoebe. You know, it was really cute and they
would get excited and they would pose for those first pictures.
Speaker 5 (02:09):
Now it's kind of like dad, please, you know.
Speaker 2 (02:11):
And you're like, I'm sorry, Mom is insisting on this picture,
you know, and I am. I really like a picture
of them together, you know. And it's a special thing
to a mother's heart. You may scroll past it and
it may mean nothing to you, but it is ginormous
to that family.
Speaker 4 (02:28):
They appreciate it. They'll come around later on and appreciate
it when they sure when you put the collage together
and they come back to the house from college or wherever,
and it's like, oh yeah, oh yeah, oh look at
that one.
Speaker 1 (02:39):
Oh I know, you know, my mother and father did
that one year. But it wasn't with back to school photos.
They did it with the actual school photos, and it
was it was a cool concept where like your senior
picture is the big one in the center, and then
there are eleven yes.
Speaker 4 (02:53):
Yeah, well for some people there it seems to end
around ninth grade.
Speaker 1 (02:59):
And so you know, they they gave that to each
of us, me, my brother and sisters a Christmas gift.
What's funny about it, And I guess this can happen
to any parent. Probably what happen if Jody and I
are going back through pictures, they got them out of
a order on some the senior pictures correct, the junior
pictures correct, but there's a whole lot of Wait a second,
it looks like I got younger here in the order.
Speaker 3 (03:19):
Wait did you point that out?
Speaker 5 (03:20):
First to fourth to second six draw line?
Speaker 3 (03:24):
Did you point it out?
Speaker 1 (03:26):
And they actually admitted to it. We couldn't tell in
some grades, and no, of course I wasn't going to
point that out.
Speaker 2 (03:31):
Nice.
Speaker 1 (03:31):
It's a sweet photo, and you know, me to do
that is really kind of what's funny is I think
this happens for everybody. You get to like the sixth
of the eighth grade photos and you're like, oh, you
know there's something especially the sixth and seventh grade photos
of the ones that just like those are my way
my least favorite photos of myself.
Speaker 2 (03:47):
It's the hard it's a very difficult time in life.
The good news is it's a quick time in life.
It's a few years that blink that you're just as
awkward as can be, and you would love to erase
that from your history. But there's no erasing it. The
other group of pictures I've always dreamed of doing, and
I think that I very well might do it. I
know me, if I've had it in my heart and
(04:08):
brain to do something for a long time, I'm going
to try it. And I do have a bunch of
collages at the house.
Speaker 5 (04:12):
Oh you know, I'm teasing you about it.
Speaker 2 (04:13):
I know that, but but I really want you to
help me go find them all. Not just the back
to school but I want all Halloween Halloween costumes. Pictures
always make my heart happy, and so they've always done
so many. It's always been so cute to me. Again,
nobody appreciates it more than we do, Murphy, And that's okay.
Speaker 1 (04:32):
We at least going to leave the year out where
I was dressed up and passed out on your friend's
front yard.
Speaker 3 (04:37):
That's already been Ray.
Speaker 5 (04:40):
We're going to give you your own collaise we don't.
Speaker 3 (04:42):
Even talk about.
Speaker 5 (04:43):
You can use that as an example of why I
quit drinking.
Speaker 2 (04:48):
