than a fifth grader? Which I'm not good at that
kind of game? And it makes me feel really stick.
Speaker 3 (00:54):
Can we play are You're smarter than a first grader?
That might improve my.
Speaker 1 (00:57):
Chances easier anyway, in the honor of back to school time,
So we'll do that just after seven, of course.

You know, Friday, we love to go back and you know,
kind of pick favorite moments from the week, things that
happen Friday. So we'll start with you, Jodie.
Speaker 1 (01:11):
Okay, I have two things. Number one, Canine Lallabies. I
shared this with you yesterday.
Speaker 4 (01:16):
Guys.
Speaker 1 (01:16):
This composer who put in human heart beats along with
new wave music and vocals to classic lullabies, and they're
actually playing it in several shelters across the country and
dogs in these shelters are more calm, they are happier,
and they are barking less. It's called Canine Lullabies. This
(01:38):
one is London Bridge. You guys, hear that heart beat?
Speaker 3 (01:41):
Yeah, yeah, it's chilling me out. Okay, are we going
to be playing this at the house? Is that why?
Speaker 1 (01:51):
You know? I just normally put on us for our dogs?
Or are just regular classical music.
Speaker 2 (01:57):
You put us on for the dogs?
Speaker 3 (01:58):
Well?
Speaker 4 (01:58):
Yeah, they know more a ways. It's like Mom's always.
Speaker 3 (02:01):
There, meaning the show Murphy Salmon, Jeneral, Your.
Speaker 1 (02:03):
Mom and dad are always There's confusing, No, they go searching,
They're fine. My other Friday favorite is this top Gun
too news.
Speaker 3 (02:13):
I didn't know there was Top Gun too news.
Speaker 1 (02:15):
Oh my gosh, yesterday's Hollywood Outsider, How I miss that
John Ham has been added to the cast. Thank you,
thank you whoever whoever made that decision.
Speaker 3 (02:25):
You don't care what role he's in. It's just don Draper.
Speaker 1 (02:27):
I would like to see him in a flight suit.
I wouldn't hurt a thing. But he's just been added
and there's no specifics yet. I even told Sam, I
can't believe that Tom Cruise allowed it.
Speaker 3 (02:37):
Oh, that's true. That's like a little competition on a.
Speaker 1 (02:40):
Lot of competition. So excited about that, Murphy, Sam and Jody.
Speaker 3 (02:45):
Coming up next day. It's Friday, so that means new movies,
Family friendly box Office reviews, next.
Speaker 4 (02:52):
Family Friendly book Office.
Speaker 1 (02:54):
Before we get to the new movie, Sam, have you
seen Christopher Robin yet?
Speaker 3 (02:58):
Come on your need little bit of you're in your life,
weakness in your life, sir, Oh.
Speaker 4 (03:03):
My gosh, so good.
Speaker 1 (03:05):
All right, here's one that's opening this weekend that I
don't like the name of it.
Speaker 4 (03:09):
I don't like the premise. I am nervous.
Speaker 3 (03:12):
Why are we talking about it?
Speaker 1 (03:13):
Because it's one of the big movies that's opening this weekend.
It's Melissa McCarthy and puppets and elizab b Banks. I'm sorry, muppets.
Speaker 4 (03:21):
Murders.
Speaker 5 (03:22):
Someone out there.
Speaker 3 (03:24):
Is killing puppets.
Speaker 2 (03:25):
Wait, wait what it's about the only safe thing we
can play.
Speaker 1 (03:29):
The murder mysteries that in the world where humans and
puppets co exist and the puppets are viewed to second
class and there's.
Speaker 4 (03:34):
Like a murder mystery.
Speaker 3 (03:35):
Yeah, I e this is not likely. There's not much
that I mean, it is so not kid friendly when you,
I mean the big objection to it. You know, it's
a little disturbing to me from a puppet but anyway, muppet.
Well that's right, I said, I don't want to call
it a muppet because and isn't it like the son
of Jahnsen hasn't sign directed it, And I'm like, why,
(03:56):
why why?
Speaker 4 (03:57):
I don't like it either.
Speaker 2 (03:58):
Well, the critical I mean critics, it's all said, it's
not funny.
Speaker 3 (04:04):
Doing this, and.
Speaker 4 (04:06):
It's like, eh, I don't like that.
Speaker 1 (04:08):
And you know what, I really want Melissa MacCarthy to
have a hit again, really want that for her, but
not so much for this one.
Speaker 4 (04:13):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (04:13):
We also have something that sounds pretty terrifying to me.
It's a thriller called searching.
Speaker 4 (04:19):
She mentioned anything unusual, She acting strangely, and she's been
transferring funds for the last six months.
Speaker 1 (04:26):
Oh hypermoder modern thriller about a sixteen year old girl
who goes missing and her desperate father, who's desperate to
find her, starts looking through her laptop to find out. Oh,
she's got this whole other life going on. Oh yeah,
I don't like that's scary, right, And then we have
ax L, which is about a top secret robotic dog.
Speaker 2 (04:49):
It's a robot, an intelligent robot.
Speaker 1 (04:53):
If I'm going to be down with a robot, at
least it's a dog two dogs, right.
Speaker 6 (04:58):
So.
Speaker 4 (05:00):
For you Sam Christopher Robin, Yeah, and so there's no
dogs there.
Speaker 3 (05:04):
It's AXL an animated movie.
Speaker 5 (05:06):
It is not.
Speaker 4 (05:07):
It's a live action dog robot movie.
Speaker 2 (05:10):
Good question, Murphy, Happy Time Murders rated Our Searching PG
thirteen and AXL is rated.
Speaker 1 (05:15):
PG Murphy, Sam Joy Family Friendly Bucks Office review by.
Speaker 4 (05:20):
Coming up next.
Speaker 1 (05:21):
If your kids don't want to get a first job,
you feel like you have to push them toward this.
We did too, But boy has that song changed at
our house? Tell you about it next?
Speaker 3 (05:32):
Coming up next Hour after seven thirty, Sam is going
to make another life change. Seems like you do this
about once every three months. Sam thought, you're gonna say
once a week. That's not a next hour.
Speaker 4 (05:43):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (05:43):
You know our oldest daughter Taylor, there was that whole
option of going to Scotland last year with a school group. Yeah,
and we started to raise money, and you Sam even
had bought a.
Speaker 2 (05:54):
Coupon book from her twenty bucks.
Speaker 1 (05:56):
Then we started raising money, and then we started to
see that she wasn't her heart wasn't as in it.
She decided she didn't really want to go, and then
she also wasn't raising money really without us kind of pushing,
and so it was like, okay, take a step back,
we are not going to do this trip. And that's
all a okay, Well she has this week come home
(06:18):
with this all these papers, and she's so super excited
and so am I for her. Not a t is
a New York trip in the spring, and she's all
about it.
Speaker 2 (06:27):
And that's got to be a little less expensive.
Speaker 1 (06:30):
It is less expensive, it's a big group, it's everything
on the list you'd ever want to see and go do.
Speaker 4 (06:36):
Totally, And but that's not the best part.
Speaker 1 (06:39):
The best part is, like you pay like a certain
amount every month to just make it easier on the family.
You know, she worked all summer. Remember I kind of
she works in a movie theater. Yeah, kind of pushed
her to get her first job ever, and at first
she really didn't want to. And you know, remember I
told you towards the end of the summer she was
loving working and having a paycheck and picking up ships whenever.
Speaker 2 (06:59):
She could put money savings too.
Speaker 3 (07:00):
Yes, that and it wasn't all about the Cheetoh's popcorn either.
Speaker 1 (07:06):
For her right anyway, Not only is she all about
going on this trip, and I'm all about her being
able to experience this. She was like four or five
straight days in New York City and they're going to
do everything and she'll be with a bunch of friends.
She's offered to pay the first payment. She's got the
money in the account.
Speaker 3 (07:24):
Well, what's funny is if she's got the perspective now,
she understands that you don't know what you don't know.
So until she actually started working for a paycheck and
really understanding how long it takes to build that up.
I think she gets that now, which is exciting.
Speaker 1 (07:35):
I think the first payment is due in a couple
of weeks and it's like one p fifty and she's like, Mom,
I'm going to make the first payment.
Speaker 4 (07:41):
I'm like, shut up.
Speaker 1 (07:43):
We're going to help with the overall expense of the trip,
and we're gonna have to send her. She's got to
work between now and then, also because she's going to
want to spend money while she's.
Speaker 2 (07:50):
There the fundraisers too.
Speaker 4 (07:51):
I don't know that.
Speaker 3 (07:52):
Yes, we'll sell you a coupon both salary.
Speaker 4 (07:56):
But isn't that awesome? You're right.
Speaker 1 (07:57):
It is all about perspective, and so shout out for
the first job, for just experience.
Speaker 2 (08:04):
I'll put another twenty bucks in if I need to.
Speaker 4 (08:06):
Thanks Sam. Yeah, Sam has music news.
Speaker 2 (08:09):
Are Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton married? We'll dig into it.
Speaker 4 (08:16):
Sam's got music news.
Speaker 2 (08:17):
Port on the street. Is that Gwen Stefani and Blake
Shelton are now married, have been since March.
Speaker 4 (08:25):
In fact, guess what, I love them as a couple.
Speaker 3 (08:28):
So how does that happen without it becoming a matter
of public record.
Speaker 2 (08:30):
Well, I'll tell you how that happens.
Speaker 3 (08:32):
Okay, what you guys say.
Speaker 2 (08:35):
Blake flies in her family members, the kids are there,
the parents are there. There's only a couple dozen folks.
They have a gazebo by the lake. This is all
on his ranch. Nice for the days before the quote
unquote wedding, the alleged wedding, everybody goes hunting and fishing
and dirt bike riding. Okay, no, g's there, hunt and fishing,
got it. Got Then they get married and everybody keeps
(08:56):
it quiet. M That's all I get. Yeah, so this
is coming from star Let's move on.
Speaker 1 (09:02):
Okay, I just loved them as a couple because everybody
thought they were both they were both rebounding. Yeah, okay,
they don't seem like it's a lasting thing. It seems
like a hot fling. It does not seem like a
lasting thing.
Speaker 4 (09:13):
But gold did.
Speaker 3 (09:14):
They seem solid, but you know, ceremonial. I get it.
They could keep that private, but once you've done the
legal marriage document, it's a matter of public exactly exactly.
Speaker 2 (09:23):
I mean this, no, no, no, this this magazine, alleged magazine,
I say with air quotes. Could have easily gone to
the courthouse and looked it up because if it's not there,
well that's true, it's.
Speaker 5 (09:35):
Not there any way.
Speaker 1 (09:35):
It's fun it's fun. That's a good Halloween costume. Gwyn
and Blake Boom.
Speaker 2 (09:40):
Yeah, did you hear what? Pink at it? One of
her concerts the other night in Australia.
Speaker 4 (09:44):
She's back on stage.
Speaker 2 (09:46):
Yeah, she is feeling better and back on stage. A
girl and near the front, fourteen year old was holding
up the sign says, my name's Leah. I'm fourteen. I
just lost my mom last month. I'd love a hug.
Pink reads the sign so everybody can hear it. She
stops the concert, goes down, talks to the girl, gives
her a hug, signs her autograph and all that stuff,
and goes back up and continues performing. Turns out in
(10:08):
the after store, we find out the girl's mom had
bought tickets for one of the shows in Sydney before
she passed away, and that was passed away and that
was one of the canceled shows, and so one of
her friends bought tickets for this other, you know, makeup show,
so she was still able to go and that's when
she held up the sign. WHOA, oh, and this is fine.
(10:29):
Michael Jackson's sixties sixtieth birthday is next Wednesday.
Speaker 4 (10:32):
I know Phoebe's got it on her calendar at home.
Speaker 2 (10:34):
In honest that in his Thriller album, Hugo Boss is
recreating the white suit that he wore and the triller
the Thriller cover.
Speaker 4 (10:42):
Yeah, that was silent. I want to say there was
a tiger in the picture too.
Speaker 2 (10:47):
They made a new white suit for you and you
can buy t shirts to go with it if you
want to look like Michael and you just lay there
in a.
Speaker 1 (10:53):
Different Michael because we see a lot of thriller and
beat it Michael and yeah.
Speaker 4 (10:56):
Okay, Murphy's music news up next.
Speaker 1 (11:00):
Danielle wants to add to your list of nicknames, Sam
and you can join us anytime to eight seven seven
three one zero four MSJ.
Speaker 5 (11:10):
Sam.
Speaker 1 (11:10):
There's been a lot of throwing the old ball around
at the house thanks to you loaning me your baseball glove.
Speaker 4 (11:15):
He's got a softball glove.
Speaker 1 (11:16):
Now.
Speaker 3 (11:17):
I got to wear your glove last night.
Speaker 4 (11:18):
And that's find out what happens when Murphy throws the ball.
Speaker 2 (11:22):
My glove's getting around.
Speaker 4 (11:23):
It's eventful, a right fall.
Speaker 3 (11:25):
Eight seven seven three one zero four MSJA. Sam's going
to be a grandfather. He's looking for a nickname and
and so we're looking for your help. Danielle, you got
an idea.
Speaker 6 (11:34):
So my mom has always been name, my dad has
always been Pop Pop, and my husbin's parents have always
been Grandpa and Grandma. Okay, well, when we moved from
the military, my son was ten months old and she
didn't see my dad for like probably three years when
we had moved, and when my dad had come to visit,
(11:55):
we had picked him up from the airport. Now he
had seen my mom had come to visit, and why
you know, my grandparents, my husband's parents had come to
visit and everything, but he hadn't seen my dad. And
we pick him up from the airport and and then
the first thing he does when he walks up to
my dad is he goes, I thought you were going
to be a girl. What I didn't know Pop Pop
(12:21):
was a boy. That's so hard.
Speaker 4 (12:28):
An interesting kid.
Speaker 7 (12:30):
So it was just really funny that even.
Speaker 6 (12:32):
Though Pop Pop to us, so he seemed like, you know,
Pop Pop, Grandpa. Yeah, my son just assumed it was
a girl. So he's very surprised that Pop Up was
a boy.
Speaker 3 (12:43):
So I just thought i'd share because it was really funny.
Speaker 2 (12:45):
I'm glad you did because now I'll make sure that
gets clarified before the.
Speaker 5 (12:49):
Yes, just in case.
Speaker 6 (12:52):
Yeah, yeah, thanks and congratulation.
Speaker 2 (12:55):
Thank you, Danielle.
Speaker 3 (12:56):
I appreciate the call. Yes, you need to sign a
gender say I'm a parent, so that's clear.
Speaker 4 (13:01):
Pop Pop is a common one in your family, right,
Yeah that was pop pop.
Speaker 2 (13:04):
Hey, everybody he selected that one. I've started looking at
stuffed animals and stuff too for the baby.
Speaker 4 (13:10):
Yeah, alrighty did you buy something yet?
Speaker 2 (13:12):
Now I didn't because you're into this, you're already looking. Yeah,
I don't know if it's a boy or girl, so
you can't do pink or blue.
Speaker 4 (13:18):
And there's a lot a lot of grillows.
Speaker 2 (13:20):
Monkeys and green giraffes. But I just don't know that
the right thing hasn't hit me yet. You know, everybody
buys the Onesi's, you know, and all that stuff.
Speaker 1 (13:29):
It's like you'll know when you see something that grabs you.
Maybe it'll be a classic bear like a light tan color.
Speaker 2 (13:34):
Actually kind of fun to have an interest in looking
at that stuff again.
Speaker 1 (13:38):
Yeah, I always do. Thank you, Danielle, Jump in anytime.
We love hearing from you. Eight seven seven three one
zero four six seven.
Speaker 4 (13:46):
Five Coming up you're Hollywood, say.
Speaker 1 (13:50):
Why Big Bang Theory is coming to an end? And
who's performing at Aretha Franklin's funeral Jody's Hollywood Outsider. This
story's been circular circulating around this week. Big Bang Theory
is about to be endings.
Speaker 5 (14:07):
Seeing a hot date.
Speaker 1 (14:09):
The upcoming twelfth season will probably be the last. That's
a long time for a comedy that.
Speaker 2 (14:16):
Means they'll make money forever on syndication.
Speaker 4 (14:20):
Boom, There you Go.
Speaker 1 (14:20):
Friends was only ten seasons, and it felt like it
was a whole general like it felt like it went
on forever, although I could have I could have stayed
with it even longer. So the rumor is that Jim
Parsons just doesn't want to do the show anymore, is
ready to leave. That hasn't been confirmed, but he did
like send out this really heartfelt, sweet state statement about
(14:41):
the show ending and how much he's loved his time
there and how he's terribly grateful for his castmates and
the writers who kept all these fresh ideas coming. I've
got friends who love this show, and what's cool is
that I've never watched it.
Speaker 2 (14:56):
But it was never enough to make me go. I
got to watch this week.
Speaker 1 (14:59):
But that's the thing that gives you one to dope,
go dig into later because you're right, it will live forever.
Speaker 4 (15:04):
And the other.
Speaker 1 (15:07):
Some of the other castmates that they don't know how
they're gonna get through for season twelve without tears. But
the next season they're saying it's gonna be great because
they've seen the writing is going to be the last
moving on.
Speaker 2 (15:17):
I hope it's a good you know, even though I
hope it's a good finale, not like.
Speaker 1 (15:21):
The finales are tough, like the hard there's so much
to live up to and you want closure. It's probably
the hardest thing a show can do is end. All right,
Aretha Franklin's funeral, let's move to this me too, My goodness,
it's happening the service on August thirty. First, some of
the people who are going to perform Stevie Wonder, Huh,
(15:44):
Faith Hill and Ronald Isley, Chaka Khan, Jennifer Hudson. Can
you imagine the Aretha Franklin Orchestra and their Celebration Choir
also set to perform.
Speaker 2 (15:56):
And by the way, you though there was an Aretha
Franklin Orchestra.
Speaker 3 (16:00):
There is.
Speaker 1 (16:01):
There are rumored names floating around for next Thursdays Aretha
Tribute Concert, which happening in Detroit, also Gladys Night and
the Four Tops among that, right, big big.
Speaker 2 (16:10):
Well, you know everybody's gonna turn out for her.
Speaker 1 (16:12):
Yeah, completely coming up in your next Hollywood Outsider this
morning around seven fifty five that the update on ben
Affleck Today up to date.
Speaker 4 (16:23):
With Judy's Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 3 (16:27):
Jodi loves to call Fridays fun Fridays, duh, because hey,
fun you.
Speaker 2 (16:32):
Ever heard of the term fun Monday?
Speaker 1 (16:34):
We could make it. I was thinking about Funday Monday before.
Speaker 3 (16:38):
But Jim, you could actually be under something inspirational that
we could start doing next Monday.
Speaker 4 (16:42):
Yeah, yeah, well it'll never works. Okay, it's fun Friday though, guys, Bailey,
are you ready?
Speaker 5 (16:47):
I'm ready?
Speaker 4 (16:48):
Fun and games time. You guys write a play a game?
Speaker 5 (16:50):
Yes, all right, let's do it.
Speaker 4 (16:51):
What we're playing?
Speaker 5 (16:51):
Okay?
Speaker 8 (16:52):
So it's back to school time. Everybody is back to learning.
You may be bigger, better, faster, and stronger than a
fifth grader, but are you smarter than one?
Speaker 4 (17:00):
Not necessarily?
Speaker 3 (17:05):
Well, I would say that's debatable in this room.
Speaker 4 (17:07):
So yeah, yeah, well I'm not good at this comic game.
Speaker 5 (17:09):
Yeah, I'll tell you.
Speaker 8 (17:10):
When I was trying to make this game, I was
having some trouble with some of these questions.
Speaker 1 (17:14):
It's understandable, super intelligent. I retained almost nothing.
Speaker 8 (17:18):
So we got a couple of subjects lined up, and
all you have to do is pick one. Okay, so
we'll go one by one. Jody, you'll start.
Speaker 1 (17:26):
If you'd like, sure, yes, I love this game. Unless
you'd like to make something else, I'll start. Let's get
it over with.
Speaker 8 (17:33):
So just here's the categories geometry, social studies, math, geography, science, English,
biology or art, Social studies, social studies. All right, here
we go. How long is one regular term for a
US representative representative?
Speaker 5 (17:53):
Yeah, that's pretty tough.
Speaker 4 (17:55):
I don't know.
Speaker 5 (17:56):
You want to steal saund.
Speaker 2 (17:57):
Sure, representative also known as a congress person, is two years,
whereas a senator is six years.
Speaker 8 (18:03):
That's correct, plus bonus point.
Speaker 1 (18:07):
He's smarter than a fifth grader and maybe all of us. Okay, nice,
Whose turn is it?
Speaker 4 (18:11):
Then?
Speaker 3 (18:12):
Well?
Speaker 4 (18:12):
Murphy, go ahead, okay, pick a subject.
Speaker 5 (18:16):
Social studies has gone now?
Speaker 3 (18:17):
Yeah, geography, hiography?
Speaker 8 (18:19):
Okay, Which of the following states is not part of
the four corners? New Mexico, Utah, Colorado, Nevada, or Arizona.
Speaker 3 (18:31):
Part of the four corners. Oh, I know what you're
talking about.
Speaker 4 (18:35):
Closure and see the map. I couldn't get this one.
I got a guess, and you gave me four.
Speaker 8 (18:41):
You gave me four choices there, I gave you five
because there are four corners.
Speaker 5 (18:45):
One of them.
Speaker 8 (18:46):
Oh yeah, be it New Mexico, Utah, Colorado, Nevada, and Arizona.
Speaker 3 (18:53):
I'm gonna say, I'm probably gonna get this wrong.
Speaker 4 (18:55):
Go for it.
Speaker 3 (18:56):
Arizona.
Speaker 4 (19:00):
Can any of us steal?
Speaker 2 (19:02):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (19:02):
If you know it?
Speaker 1 (19:03):
Can?
Speaker 4 (19:03):
I say, Nevada?
Speaker 5 (19:04):
You can? And you would be right.
Speaker 3 (19:06):
If you said that.
Speaker 4 (19:10):
You didn't know, You didn't know.
Speaker 5 (19:12):
Something about horseshoes, something about.
Speaker 4 (19:14):
Vegas for me. Okay, Sam, you're up.
Speaker 3 (19:17):
You'll get your chance coming up next.
Speaker 2 (19:18):
Okay.
Speaker 3 (19:21):
And in case you didn't hear what producer Bailey's doing
with us this morning, No, to this point, Sam's the
only one who's smarter than the fifth wee. No, that's
not true. I'm sorry. Sam and Jody are both smarter
than the fift sole.
Speaker 1 (19:34):
Mine and I stole yours, Murphy, But it's actually Sam's turn, right,
Go with math of course you are.
Speaker 4 (19:41):
He's got his pencil and paper ready. Nice.
Speaker 8 (19:45):
Okay, so six, that's close. Emma has two yardsticks and
a ruler laid in to end. How long are they?
And flat feet or feet?
Speaker 1 (19:57):
Uh?
Speaker 2 (19:58):
Six? And a ruler and seven feet no.
Speaker 4 (20:05):
Traveling and.
Speaker 2 (20:07):
Vision or something?
Speaker 4 (20:09):
Sam?
Speaker 1 (20:09):
Okay, So like one more? Can we do the whoever
wants to you? You are in control of the category, Bailey.
Speaker 3 (20:15):
There's only one category left?
Speaker 5 (20:17):
Yeah, well there can be. You haven't touched English at all.
Speaker 4 (20:20):
Okay, let's do English?
Speaker 5 (20:22):
Ready?
Speaker 3 (20:22):
So the first answer gets this?
Speaker 8 (20:24):
I guess what is the word very in the following sentence?
Ice cream is a very good dessert.
Speaker 4 (20:32):
It's it's I know it's an averb Yeah almost that adjective.
It's averbay. Okay, all right?
Speaker 5 (20:41):
Should I go again for this? Okay?
Speaker 3 (20:43):
How about this one, Jody Redemption? What category is this?
Speaker 5 (20:47):
Let's go for biology?
Speaker 3 (20:50):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (20:50):
Okay.
Speaker 5 (20:51):
What part of the plant is a carrot?
Speaker 3 (20:55):
The root? Yeah? Sam, I've gotten that in Jody. I
was actually holding back so that Jody could get right.
Speaker 8 (21:04):
Here's here's one you should know, Jody, or you want
to go for another one. I guess we're going back
to English. This should know you could say this is
a review as sharp as a tack is what kind
of figure of speech?
Speaker 2 (21:17):
Oh?
Speaker 4 (21:17):
Oh oh, what a simile is it?
Speaker 3 (21:24):
Oh that's right, it's not a metaphor because it has
and like I mean, it's.
Speaker 4 (21:29):
All coming back. But I really don't trust my retention
of fifth grade.
Speaker 2 (21:33):
I want to change my answer the what was the
question about the carrot?
Speaker 5 (21:37):
Which part of it? Which part of the plant?
Speaker 2 (21:39):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (21:39):
Which part of the plant is a carrot?
Speaker 2 (21:41):
The nasty part?
Speaker 4 (21:45):
Thank you, Bailey. Fun and Games Friday coming up next
with Murphy Sam and Josie Sam.
Speaker 1 (21:50):
You loaned us a very personal item, your official leather
softball glove.
Speaker 4 (21:56):
Give me baseball glove.
Speaker 3 (21:57):
I need to tell you what happened to it last night.
Speaker 1 (22:00):
Murphy had his turn with it. Oh Sam, thank you
again for loaning us your baseball glove. That's nice and
broken in. It smells well good. It doesn't smell as
good as Phoebe's new softball glove hers his brand new leather,
and my.
Speaker 2 (22:17):
Mine's got some game on it.
Speaker 4 (22:18):
Yours does have some stink on it. I just I.
Speaker 2 (22:20):
Realized something because that you have the Papa dog issue.
Papa the dog that likes to no worries.
Speaker 1 (22:27):
I told Murphy last night, where we're keeping Sam's very
important personal baseball glove is up high in the laundry room.
Speaker 4 (22:35):
He's not going to get it up here.
Speaker 2 (22:36):
You are correct.
Speaker 3 (22:37):
For Papa the bulldog does have a penchant for leather.
He just grabs shoes. He grab.
Speaker 2 (22:44):
Now, where do you keep Papa in the lounder your room? Okay?
Speaker 4 (22:47):
Why did you have to tell him that.
Speaker 1 (22:55):
Papa's on the ground. He's a small bulldog. There's this thing,
that container with all of our sports stuff. There's a
football in there, there's bad minton, rackets, and now your glove, gotcha,
So when it goes in and out, it goes into
the thing and stays in there.
Speaker 4 (23:08):
Okay, unless it's being used anyway.
Speaker 3 (23:11):
I've louse for alarm.
Speaker 4 (23:13):
I loved having the glove.
Speaker 1 (23:15):
That way.
Speaker 4 (23:15):
I can throw the ball back and forth with her.
Speaker 1 (23:17):
It feels good, it's good time, it's it's awesome to
do it again.
Speaker 4 (23:21):
It came right back to me and Murphy was like, wait,
I want in on this. I'm the daddy. I got
to throw the ball too, And Phoebe was like, Daddy,
do you throw the Have you ever done this?
Speaker 3 (23:31):
I've never asked been asked so many questions in my life. Well, daddy,
did you play sports?
Speaker 1 (23:34):
And it's like, You're like, you're the computer tech guy.
I've never seen you throw a baseball or softball, And
so I was like, ten years Phoebe, I don't know.
Speaker 4 (23:45):
He said he played in.
Speaker 3 (23:47):
You know, Pe, and so it is shocking to me
that this was a great mystery for cleaning.
Speaker 1 (23:52):
The kitchen and kitchen and Phoebe. Phoebe was like, okay,
I'm gonna throw the ball with Daed. I'm like, okay, cool.
They are out there and I can't help but look
out the window, kitchen window, and it's going along fine.
Speaker 4 (24:02):
It was nice to watch, Yeah, I mean really good
to watch.
Speaker 3 (24:06):
We're you know, standing for apart. We ran into one
small problem, one big problem actually, yeah, right where we
were throwing, you know. Fine. We threw for a good
half hour and then finally the ball lands in the street.
It did that a few times, but it rolled this
particular time and went right down the storm drains. Were
(24:26):
Phoebe's friends balls.
Speaker 2 (24:27):
Yeah, I can bring a ball from home.
Speaker 3 (24:29):
If you need it. Does that mean okay?
Speaker 4 (24:30):
Because we might lose it.
Speaker 3 (24:32):
That brought this to a screeching halt last night.
Speaker 2 (24:34):
Otherwise, let me ask this though, was that intentional? Murphy No.
Speaker 4 (24:40):
In on Phoebe's part. Coming up next, it's the producer's mail.
What's in your bag today?
Speaker 7 (24:47):
Today we're talking about quitters and raising future quitters and
what to do when it comes to sports.
Speaker 3 (24:52):
Yeah, and we actually are a family of five here Murphy,
Sam and Jody and producer Bailey and producer Chad.
Speaker 4 (25:01):
Hello, Yeah, it's time for the producer's mail. Chad, you
are up. What's in your mail bag today?
Speaker 7 (25:07):
Well, you were asking everyone the other day do you
let your child quit a sport if they've fallen out
of love with it?
Speaker 2 (25:13):
Right?
Speaker 1 (25:13):
We did that in the after the Show podcast because
we've never let our girls quitney thing mid season, like
you can do one season of something.
Speaker 4 (25:22):
Yeah, I've paid a registration for him, we bought some stuff.
Speaker 1 (25:24):
We're going to finish out the season at least, But
we don't make them continue to play a sport just because.
Speaker 2 (25:30):
It works as banned too.
Speaker 4 (25:31):
I guess you're right.
Speaker 3 (25:33):
Anything the exception of the rule of the sports would
be obviously was an injury or something. We're not talking
about that We're just talking about keeping the commitment.
Speaker 2 (25:39):
Right, put some dirt on it, play through it.
Speaker 4 (25:42):
Okay, what do we have in mail back chat?
Speaker 7 (25:43):
Deborah says, only after the season is over.
Speaker 4 (25:46):
Totally.
Speaker 7 (25:46):
We have a discussion before they sign up. Make sure
that they know they're making commitment to a team and
what it means to honor a commitment. People are depending
on you and you need to do what you said
and you do.
Speaker 3 (25:56):
That's good.
Speaker 4 (25:57):
Yes, it's totally true.
Speaker 1 (25:59):
Now I will say this if because I'm you know,
we're all parents in every situation is a little bit different,
and it's good to have that kind of integrity and
those kind of rules in play.
Speaker 3 (26:09):
And I believe in that sling and exception.
Speaker 4 (26:12):
This is the butt.
Speaker 1 (26:14):
If my kid, and this has never happened to us,
if my kid was being bullied and tormented in a
certain situation with a certain out, baby Mama Bear would
be in and we would be changing that.
Speaker 2 (26:27):
It's kind of like the injury situation, like Murphy say, yeah,
that's not healthy for your child.
Speaker 4 (26:31):
I'm just bringing it up, but I dealt with some
I felt dealt with some basketball.
Speaker 1 (26:36):
Camp bully one year, and it would have been great
for me to get away from that, but I didn't, and.
Speaker 7 (26:40):
Al agrees with that. He says, it depends on why
they want to quit. There could be some good reasons
totally just to play Devil's advocate here. We got one
from Randa and this made me think of something. Okay, well,
I'm not going to force them to do it, and
it made me think, I think this is something everyone
can relate to. Haven't we all been a part of
a team or a collective group where somebody did not
(27:03):
want to be there.
Speaker 4 (27:04):
Yeah, yeah, Sam, Usually.
Speaker 2 (27:08):
I show up every day I am here.
Speaker 1 (27:12):
That is part I'm joking, that is part of the
human experience being sticking something out. That is, you know,
you learn it's not your jam right a way, but
sticking it out is part of you figuring out who
you are.
Speaker 2 (27:26):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (27:26):
Yeah, so that's all good.
Speaker 7 (27:28):
I like it.
Speaker 1 (27:29):
Thank you. We love it when you reach out connect
with us there on Facebook or Instagram.
Speaker 4 (27:34):
Coming up next with Murphy, Sam and Jody.
Speaker 2 (27:37):
It's becoming a new granddad thing has me thinking, I'll
let you know why. I want to be a better
grandparent than I was as a parent from my kids.
Speaker 4 (27:47):
I think Sam wants to get something off of his chest.
So let's go.
Speaker 2 (27:51):
I found out I'm going to be a grandfather.
Speaker 4 (27:53):
Yes, yes, all week.
Speaker 2 (27:55):
Wait, everybody knows this.
Speaker 7 (27:57):
No.
Speaker 2 (27:57):
One of the things I've looked forward to, and I've
thought about this for a long time, was whenever the
grandkids come along, you expect you more than one? Are you?
I got five kids, class are pretty good Somewhere along
the way that I kind of want to be one
of my ambitions, it's kind of late to be ambitious.
Speaker 3 (28:16):
One of my aigues to be ambitious, sim.
Speaker 2 (28:18):
It's to be a better grandpa, grandfather, buddy than I
was a dad, because you know.
Speaker 4 (28:24):
My life happens naturally my life.
Speaker 2 (28:27):
And I've heard some friends tell me this too, but
you know my story. Well, if you don't know my story,
you know, three spouses.
Speaker 3 (28:33):
But we actually actually can't fit it in one show.
Speaker 2 (28:35):
Yeah, yeah, three spouses. And then the twins. Mom and
I didn't get married, so there was that, and so
it was not married now, so it was always I
had kids, and then I left kids or I left
the relationship, and I still have the kids. I'm still dad,
I'm still in everybody's life, right, But you always have
that feeling like you know, I could have done more.
I could have done that, I could have been better.
(28:57):
I could have, you know, done more. And so herefore,
like I've always thought, well, when the grandkid comes along,
I'm gonna make up for it, right, for the grandkid
and also for the kids that Yeah, well I feel
I did it too, and I even I know psychologists
still go, I'll be so hard on yourself, mister Sam.
Speaker 3 (29:14):
Right, that's actually what I was going to say and
how I was going to say it. Now. You know,
the thing is your kids are all great kids, yeah,
all of them.
Speaker 1 (29:24):
And realize they adore you. You did a lot right,
even though there was a lot of.
Speaker 3 (29:29):
Yeah, despite your efforts to screw it up great exactly.
Speaker 1 (29:34):
There were changes for them along the way, but they're
they're they're no worse off for it. They're all fine.
So yeah, you do need to forgive yourself for that.
But yes, I think it's also natural to we all
change and grow up. So you yeah, I'm sure I'm
a better friend now than I was ten fifteen years ago.
Speaker 3 (29:53):
I know I'm a better husband than I was, you know,
Jody did do you agree with that?
Speaker 1 (29:57):
Joe? Hell, I do agree, So of course you're going
to be about a grandpa just because you've grown up.
Speaker 2 (30:02):
Because I'm I and plus I've been through five kids
in one form or another, so I think I have
something to add to the Absolutely, there's some diversion, and
as everybody says, when the day's over with, you give
them back.
Speaker 4 (30:15):
Okay, coming up, Judy, you're Hollywood.
Speaker 1 (30:19):
We'll give you the update on Ben Affleck today, where
he is and how he's doing. And also Mariah Carey
having some triple in Vegas.
Speaker 3 (30:28):
Coming up, Jodie has a little bonus Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 1 (30:30):
For you, getting you ready for Christopher Robin the sweetest
thing you may ever see this year at the box office?
And what does everybody think about meetings at work and
how can you make them better if you host them?
Speaker 3 (30:44):
Murphy Happy Friday, getting you ready for the weekend. And
if there's anything you've missed today or this entire week,
you can always catch it on the Murphy, Sam and
Jody Podcast. We're also going to do some stuff after
the show, like we usually do the merby Sam and
Jody after the show podcast.
Speaker 4 (31:04):
And do some stuff.
Speaker 1 (31:06):
Okay, it's time to go around the table and pick
out our favorite stuff from the week, Sam, You're up.
Speaker 4 (31:12):
Sam's Friday favorite.
Speaker 3 (31:14):
Oh.
Speaker 2 (31:14):
This involves a couple Jesse and Casey. Jesse and Casey
went to Disneyland.
Speaker 4 (31:20):
It seems like a joke or math problem.
Speaker 2 (31:22):
This couple walks into Disneyland, okay, and they're posing in
front of Cinderella's Castle Nice. And Jesse's like, she's tired
of waiting for her man to propose to her. So
she says, you know what, I'm gonna do the deal.
I'm gonna propose.
Speaker 3 (31:34):
She's going to propose to him.
Speaker 2 (31:36):
Without the ring and propose to him.
Speaker 4 (31:38):
She's got her own ring or ring for him.
Speaker 2 (31:39):
Got a ring for him? Wow, maybe it was a
ring for her giving.
Speaker 4 (31:43):
Her give myself a ring.
Speaker 2 (31:45):
So she starts to pull out the ring when they're
taking the picture, and and Casey goes, are you kidding me?
Hang on a second, reaches in his bag he's got
He pulls out a ring.
Speaker 8 (32:00):
O my good.
Speaker 5 (32:04):
Her cool?
Speaker 3 (32:08):
So you know what that shows? They're meant to be together.
They were both thinking the same thing. I don't know.
Speaker 2 (32:12):
She'd been playing for three months, he'd only been working
on it for a month. We're going to Disney next month.
Speaker 1 (32:16):
I bet I'm going to say this, that's spot in
front of Cinderella's castle. That's the hottest proposal spot in America.
That if you are seriously dating somebody and you want
them to propose, if you're there and they don't propose, man,
you were in the doghouse.
Speaker 2 (32:31):
We've known some people that have done that.
Speaker 4 (32:32):
It's right. Former producer Drew proposed to his wife.
Speaker 3 (32:35):
Our friend Dave proposed that too.
Speaker 1 (32:37):
Yeah, I'm saying if you are in a serious relationship
and you are there and you don't get proposed to
Mandinker Trette.
Speaker 2 (32:44):
I don't know what happened with the ring that she
was going to use, but the ring that he gave
her was from the enchanted Disney jewelry collection Harry al
the Mermaid Winter.
Speaker 3 (32:52):
Did he bought it when he walked in the gates
or something?
Speaker 1 (32:55):
Wonder?
Speaker 2 (32:56):
Can you tell me where the jewelry story?
Speaker 4 (32:58):
Last minute coming up with Murphy, Sam and Jody.
Speaker 1 (33:02):
I have a problem with one of the movies coming
out at the box office this weekend, So we'll tell
you why it makes me icky feel icky. You know,
there's a new movie out this weekend, and we did
it earlier for you in the family Friendly box Office review.
And this one is definitely righted r. And when I
first heard about it, I didn't understand, and I thought,
(33:23):
oh gosh, this is the kind of thing that Sam
thinks is so funny.
Speaker 4 (33:25):
You're gonna think this is so funny. But it's something.
But it's called The Happy Time Murders, by the way.
Speaker 1 (33:31):
It's a comedy thriller, grown up movie starring Melissa McCarthy,
Elizabeth Banks and muppets.
Speaker 3 (33:38):
Someone out there is killing puppets. What are these really muppets? Though?
Speaker 2 (33:44):
Are these puppets? They there was only that's not Kermit
in a game?
Speaker 3 (33:50):
Oh my gosh, please I remember, because this movie gets
really raunchy. And the original Sesame Street whatever team didn't
they sue to keep this movie from going being made.
Speaker 2 (34:02):
Children's Miracle Network or mean Children's Television Workshop somebody or
Jim Henson or well, Jim Henson's son is the one
that is direct.
Speaker 3 (34:11):
In the Movie's the problem right his father's no longer
here if you don't know what if his father were alive,
he would never allow this.
Speaker 2 (34:16):
But because one of the taglines that were using early
on was this one's not Sesame, it's all Street.
Speaker 3 (34:22):
Oh so it was like, hey, don't use that right, right, Yeah,
that's right. I forgot.
Speaker 1 (34:27):
I don't know what it is that there are certain
groups of people that think it's so funny when something
that is supposed to be childish goes kind of sketch
and dirty. Even I don't like it. I don't want,
you know, I just don't like it. Keep these things pure.
When a muppet is on screen, I need him to
(34:47):
be good. I need him to be you know, there
to be that go between between the adult world and children.
Speaker 2 (34:55):
I understand because this pushes it too far. But remember
back in the day, the Muppets were a regular feature
on Saturday Night Live.
Speaker 4 (35:02):
I don't remember that.
Speaker 2 (35:03):
Yeah. I mean, they didn't get as bad as in
crude as this, but it was Saturday Night Live, so
there were jokes that were not friendly.
Speaker 4 (35:11):
I guess another thing that you guys may not know
about me.
Speaker 3 (35:16):
We've been married for eighteen years. Here comes another thing
I don't know about you.
Speaker 4 (35:19):
You scared by him up When I was a little kid.
Speaker 1 (35:21):
No, I grew up. I spent a lot of time
in church, and there was they called it puppet ministry.
Speaker 4 (35:28):
Remember you never heard of that?
Speaker 3 (35:29):
Yeah? Were you in the Puppet Ministry.
Speaker 1 (35:31):
No, I was just one of the kids sitting there
watching the puppets, and you know it was just such
a pure it's supposed to be a pure thing to me.
Speaker 4 (35:38):
Yeah, yeah, that's all. So it would almost be like
them making a dirty movie out of clamation Christmas. I
don't want it. The world's collide.
Speaker 3 (35:47):
Great, you're putting ideas into Sam's sad now, Jody, I'm
with you.
Speaker 1 (35:52):
Coming up, Judy, Hollywood, You're gonna tell you who's going
to sing and perform at Aretha Franklin's funeral.
Speaker 4 (35:58):
And it reads like a music that well, you would
want to buy a ticket for Judy's Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 1 (36:06):
Now have the list of performers set to sing at
Aretha Franklin's funeral. Me too.
Speaker 4 (36:14):
You know, you really could just play Aretha's music and
that's church, I know.
Speaker 2 (36:17):
But it's nice. Nice to have some legends stuff.
Speaker 1 (36:20):
Well, boy does she you're ready for this list? And
Stevie Wonder in the house. Yeah, Faith Hill on the list,
Ronald Issley, Chaka Khn, Jennifer Hudson. Jennifer Hudson who maybe
should do an Aretha song? The family gets to planet
but still are songs that she loved maybe. And by
(36:42):
the way, there's a concert, this concert happening next week
in Detroit. That's a tribute Gladys Night.
Speaker 4 (36:50):
Sign up for that.
Speaker 1 (36:51):
And that was just going to get bigger and bigger.
And that's not even the Clive Davis concert that's happened
in New York.
Speaker 2 (36:55):
I'm still wondering if the Clive Davis deal is still
on because I haven't heard anymore since before she passed away.
Speaker 4 (37:00):
Of course it's Clive up to date with Shooty's Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 1 (37:07):
Of all the things I really would love for you
to do around the house, Murphy, like that gate on
the side of the house. There's dormer, windows cleaning and
all that kind of stuff.
Speaker 3 (37:17):
The all what's up with the gate on the side.
It needs to be clean, painted again and fixed.
Speaker 1 (37:22):
Yeah, yeah, you know see, you know around there's only
all of that can go away. I don't care about
any of that. Two big things this weekend that man,
only you can come to the rescue, Daddy number one.
I really want you to start watching Better Call Saul
with me. Can we please catch up on this show?
Speaker 3 (37:43):
Note to self, I'd rather do that than fix the fence.
Speaker 1 (37:46):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (37:47):
The other thing is an important one.
Speaker 1 (37:49):
We were lucky enough to get Taylor a car this
week and she's been driving it once a day, like
once a day, she's been driving it, and that's all.
She's got a busy life in school and homework and
all this. I really want her. I want her to
drive a lot this weekend. I'll take her some. You'll
take her. You know, she'd almost rather you in the
(38:09):
passenger seat, you.
Speaker 2 (38:10):
Know, Jody says that every single time. Well, you know,
she really does prefer riding with you. Well, I mean
you've written with Jody in the passenger seat. Yeah, and
a lot of hand motions.
Speaker 3 (38:18):
And I think that that's sort of a mom thing too,
I mean, because I've seen more than just Jody do that.
But yes, you're right, it's very difficult to contain yourself.
It's difficult to meet the parent in the passenger seat anyway,
So it is. I'm happy to spot.
Speaker 1 (38:33):
I just feel like, let's let's use our time wisely
this weekend and let her get some good miles in.
Speaker 3 (38:39):
I'm happy to do that. And what I'll do is
I'll get you set up with the pressure washer for
the fence and go to town.
Speaker 4 (38:44):
I don't think I wouldn't do it.
Speaker 1 (38:48):
Happiest news of the week around here is that Sam
is going to be a grandfather early next year.
Speaker 2 (38:52):
Yeah, well, I think your grandfather's I don't know if
yet it's a boy or girl. Could be a grandmother,
by the way, I did tell that to Parker. Oh,
we don't know if it's a boy or girl yet,
so we don't know if you're gonna be an aunt
or uncle. Who he just stared at.
Speaker 4 (39:05):
Me, buddy, Did you not explain it? You need to
explain it if you really just stared at you, Sam. Anyway,
I just wanted you to know.
Speaker 1 (39:13):
Coming in from our Facebook page, Carrie says, my father
passed away when my nephew was little, and before my
niece was born. My mom remarried to a guy who
had never had his own kids, therefore wouldn't have grandkids.
He wasn't really feeling the whole Grandpa Pop Pop Paul nickname,
so my nieces and nephew call him grand dude. Come on, ma'am,
(39:37):
brand dude. Yeah, you could make that happen around your
if you decide.
Speaker 2 (39:41):
Brand dude. And I like Buddy from earlier, this.
Speaker 4 (39:44):
Week to gee Buddy.
Speaker 1 (39:47):
Thank you, Carrie. Send us a message anytime on Facebook
or Instagram, and.
Speaker 3 (39:54):
As you're going to the weekend, you can catch up
anything you missed on the Murphy, Sam and Jody podcast
and come hang out with us lady later, because we'll
do after the show, which you get online only on
the podcast for free. Jody, just so that you know,
Sam and I have discovered yet another thing that he
and I have in common, and it both relates to
you and what happens when we're when you're riding in
the passenger seat in a car with us.
Speaker 2 (40:16):
Yeah, so brace yourself.
Speaker 4 (40:17):
That's what I do.
