Speaker 1 (00:03):
And you're probably one of two kinds of people this morning.
You're either the person who stayed up late watching the
Emmys because that's you love the award show thing in
long form, or you waited so you could get the
bite sized pieces this morning.
Speaker 2 (00:14):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (00:14):
I don't know who loves the award show long form thing,
because I'm into it and I don't even love the
long form. What I love is that all those people
that I watch on those shows are all together in
one room.
Speaker 4 (00:26):
That's what's exciting for me to see them.
Speaker 5 (00:28):
You know, how do you think that would go over?
If like they did the Oscars in two hours or less.
Speaker 4 (00:33):
I would love this.
Speaker 5 (00:34):
Get people moving, I would love it good.
Speaker 1 (00:36):
But I don't know that any of us have the
attention span. It's tough for me, even with my favorite
actors and actresses, it's tough to commit two hours totally.
Speaker 3 (00:43):
So that's what we're here for. Plenty of Hollywood outsiders
on the way for you.
Speaker 1 (00:47):
Yeah, like the Emmys in two minutes or less with Jody.
Speaker 3 (00:50):
Yeahy yes, So that's on the way today right now.
I just have to tell you we told you that Sam,
we we watched the Breakfast Club with our girls, Taylor
and Phoebe over the weekend. Oh yeah, And I really
didn't know what to think. I didn't think they would
like it. I thought they'd make fun of it for sure. Yeah,
I didn't think it would resonate. They loved it. But
the other takeaway is that now they dig this song.
(01:16):
They've known this song, yeah, their whole lives. And even
Taylor was like, oh, wait, was this song written for
the movie? And I'm like, yeah, it's from the movie.
She's like, oh, so she has a whole new appreciation
for this Walk Gone By or Call My Name.
Speaker 1 (01:29):
It's not like they're likely to come across Simple Minds,
which was the band that did the song. Yeah, they're
still a terrainer playing anymore or anything like that. But yeah,
it's iconic.
Speaker 4 (01:39):
It's one of the most well known songs from the
whole decade.
Speaker 1 (01:42):
I mean, there's so many. You know, that's why when
you think when you hear Circle of Life, you think line, Yeah,
I mean you connect songs to movies. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:50):
In fact, in the end the way it was perfectly
placed with Bender with his fist in the air and
they froze the camera there. I mean, was that just
the perfect John Hughes creation that whole movie, I swear,
But now she Taylor has a special appreciation and any
day whenever she discovers new music, you know this, Murphy,
I'm waiting for her to start picking it out on
the piano.
Speaker 4 (02:09):
One afternoon.
Speaker 1 (02:10):
Sure, she probably will be unloading.
Speaker 3 (02:11):
The dishwasher and from the other room, I'm gonna hear
her playing that on the piano.
Speaker 4 (02:15):
Are you happy?
Speaker 5 (02:16):
Are you going to try Ferris Bueller or Sixteen Candles
or one of those?
Speaker 4 (02:19):
Now, I can't believe you just said that.
Speaker 3 (02:21):
I told them when the credits were still rolling, I
was like, you, guys are the movies. You really need
to see Ferris Bueller's Day Off because it is probably
the most fun from that whole time period for me.
Speaker 4 (02:32):
Exciting coming up with Murphy's, Sam and Jody before you.
Speaker 1 (02:35):
Know what, Halloween is going to be here and next
hour just after seven, the hottest kids costumes this show.
Speaker 4 (02:40):
The ones, the little ones are going to be looking for.
Speaker 1 (02:42):
Yeah, Sam's got music news.
Speaker 5 (02:43):
Next, got to let you know what Kelly Clarkson wants
to share with you and why she wants to share
it Live.
Speaker 1 (02:51):
Big Ammy Awards show last night. Jody's got another recap
for you coming up in the Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 2 (02:55):
Sam's got music news.
Speaker 5 (02:57):
In case you missed it, And if you're a big
Kelly Clarkson fan, she is going on tour up first
of the year next year. This is the Meaning of
Life Tour, named after the album Meaning of Life Excellent.
Speaker 3 (03:11):
I've seen her live before and she'll bust into like
Aretha Franklin songs and stuff, and she really doesn't justice
crazy good.
Speaker 5 (03:18):
After seeing the video of her performing at the US
Open tennis tournament, sure, it's like, man, I never yeah,
I never thought twice about going to see Kelly Clarkson
and concert, but after seeing that, it's like, man, that
would be fun.
Speaker 4 (03:29):
Yeah, you need to.
Speaker 1 (03:30):
People will be coming to see her instead of the
other way around. In the future, I believe that she'll
have residencies or things like that where people see her.
Speaker 5 (03:38):
She's going to be touring with Kelsey Ballerini and also
her Voice Champ remember she won the Voice the Champion.
Bran Cartelli going to be touring as her opening acts.
Kicks off January twenty fourth and runs all the way
through March the thirtieth, So get your tickets for that one. Apparently,
And Jody, I'm sure, I don't know if you like
this or not, but Justin Bieber is already.
Speaker 1 (03:59):
Married legally truly.
Speaker 5 (04:03):
Yeah, he's been talking. You know, he's engaged to Hailey Baldwin,
and you know they've been talking about Alec Baldwin. Yes,
Alec Baldwin. Yesked the daughter of one of the Baldwin brothers.
They went to a courthouse in New York last week
and the rumor was, Oh, they're gonna they're getting married.
They're gonna have a civil ceremony and get hit right right, uh,
And they came out of it. TMZ reported at the
(04:25):
time that they did. But everybody wanted to wait and
see People Magazine now confirming you did get married.
Speaker 3 (04:30):
Why not because you're expected to do such a big
event if you're those people, and maybe you don't feel
like that, Maybe you.
Speaker 1 (04:36):
Just keep it simple in private.
Speaker 5 (04:38):
Right. However, Haley is she feels at a civil ceremony
in the real wedding are two different things. So she's
still telling people when there's a wedding, there's a big
wedding coming. So apparently they still have the big wedding,
and I think it's going to take place in his
home country of Canada. And by the way, he has
applied for US citizens citizenship as well. Still going to
keep his Canadian citizenship, but he wants to be a
(04:59):
US citizen as well. Okay, and this is kind of cool.
Lenny Kravitz has launched a new toothpaste.
Speaker 1 (05:05):
Really yeah, it's.
Speaker 5 (05:08):
It's for charity. It's called twice because you brush.
Speaker 4 (05:10):
Your teeth twice a day at least.
Speaker 5 (05:12):
Gooday. Yeah, he and a couple other guys did this
and they're going to donate ten percent of the proceeds
from this chuck from this toothpaste to Glow Good Foundation.
It provides dental care to underserved communities.
Speaker 1 (05:21):
That's cool, Lenny.
Speaker 4 (05:23):
I'll buy something if.
Speaker 5 (05:24):
You happen to run across twice toothpaste with Lenny Kravitz's
smile on it, d be sure to get get a.
Speaker 2 (05:30):
Tube Murphy Sam Music News.
Speaker 3 (05:33):
By coming up you help me figure out when something
is a collector's item or can you let the kids
play with it?
Speaker 4 (05:39):
Next?
Speaker 1 (05:43):
Like us on Facebook where you'll get notifications whenever you
know they're a new post, and we go Facebook Live
and you can also text or call us at eight
seven seven three one zero four, MSJ.
Speaker 3 (05:52):
You would like to connect with you that way, all right, Sam.
You know our daughter Murphy and O's daughter, Phoebe, our youngest.
She she loves a garage sale and the state sale
and all that kind of stuff. So we went to
the neighbor's garage sale the other day and there's so
much stuff everywhere, including a fat boy in the garage.
Speaker 1 (06:12):
This was the one that we got the preview of. Remember,
it was kind of like, you know, getting to know
your bid before you walked in.
Speaker 3 (06:19):
I just wanted to go because I wanted to be
there to support her.
Speaker 1 (06:22):
She's one of our favorite people.
Speaker 4 (06:23):
One of our favorite neighbors ever.
Speaker 3 (06:25):
Okay, So Phoebe walks in and makes a beeline to
a tea set.
Speaker 5 (06:30):
Again she's all about.
Speaker 3 (06:33):
Well she collects the cups and the saucers only really,
and then she has a sake set that she had.
I think any kind of china interests her certain sets,
do you know. And so she made a bee line
to this tea set and it's the full thing teapot,
you know, the little cream dishes and the cups and
the plates and even little stirring spoons. It was really elaborate,
(06:54):
very beautiful, childlike in Whimsical. It's got little bunnies on it,
and they're all in the little patch china.
Speaker 4 (07:02):
You know, I didn't really examine it for that.
Speaker 1 (07:03):
I'm not an expert at that, so you know, I mean,
I wouldn't say fine china, which it's probably.
Speaker 3 (07:08):
It's a tea set, not corral. No, it's a tea
set though, and it's really pretty. We get home, she
puts it in the curio cabinet. I made room for
it. It looks gorgeous. But while we were there, Miss Dedale's
daughter was saying, yeah, that was my daughter's. And she
used to collect tea cups and saucers and the dessert plates.
They would go shop, like she's a little bit like
(07:28):
Phoebe used to be. When they would shop, they would
she would buy only the cup, the saucer, and the
dessert plate. And she recommended to Phoebe that going forward,
you do that, because she said that when her daughter
had like an engagement party or like I can't remember,
it was a shower and engagement party, all of her
friend showed up. Everybody got to have their dessert and
tea or coffee on an actual cup that she had
(07:50):
collected over the years. So that and so Phoebe's eyes
just lit up, like, Oh, I'm going to use this
in the future. I can actually use this when her
friends come over.
Speaker 1 (07:58):
So until somebody sake in the soky.
Speaker 5 (08:03):
We went to Phoebe's house and we drank sake.
Speaker 6 (08:07):
Coming up next, it's the producer's mailed agg What.
Speaker 4 (08:10):
Do we have on the way Bailey?
Speaker 7 (08:11):
Well, Judy, with all these tea sets coming into the house,
the really important question is are you really going to
use them? With a couple of different ideas on Facebook.
Speaker 1 (08:22):
And we have an easy way for you to catch
up with us after the show. It's actually called After
the Show. It's part of the Murphy, Sam and Jody podcast,
which is the only place that you can get it
totally free. You know. She can subscribe to it on
iTunes or Google it and play it with your favorite
podcast play air.
Speaker 3 (08:37):
It's Shine for the producer's nail, Dag Bailey, what do
we have from Facebook and Instagram?
Speaker 7 (08:41):
Well, Jerdy, this tea set that you were talking about earlier. Yeah,
it's very very beautiful.
Speaker 1 (08:46):
Actually, our youngest Phoebe bought this at a garage sale
and it's really her favorite place to go and buy
these things.
Speaker 4 (08:52):
Oh my gosh.
Speaker 3 (08:53):
It's normally just a cup and saucer, but this time
she bought the whole set with the pot and everything.
Speaker 7 (08:57):
Well, so did she buy it or did you buy it?
Speaker 4 (09:00):
Bought it for her? So, but it's hers, I.
Speaker 7 (09:02):
Guess the decision is I mean, are you going to
let her use it?
Speaker 4 (09:05):
Yes?
Speaker 1 (09:06):
I mean, oh, that's a good question. When you collect
some mean, is it functional or you just put it on?
You know, on the show.
Speaker 3 (09:13):
There's only one thing like that in our house that
I won't let her use, and that's the one your
mother gave us, Murphy that belonged to hide to your grandmother,
And it's this beautiful dragon tea set.
Speaker 1 (09:23):
My grandfather was in World War two and so he
brought that back from the Philippines.
Speaker 4 (09:26):
Oh yeah, that's that.
Speaker 3 (09:29):
We won't But anything of the Phoebe's that she buys.
What's the point of just putting them behind glass? Right,
I say, use them? Yeah, that's what Cheryl says. She agrees.
Speaker 4 (09:37):
She says, I think so too.
Speaker 7 (09:38):
I think things should be used instead of collecting dust, right,
And they are collector's items.
Speaker 4 (09:43):
And when Phoebe's using them usually she's very careful.
Speaker 7 (09:46):
Yeah, Gloria says, no, they're collector's items.
Speaker 1 (09:51):
Keep them on the show. Well, and I guess depending
on what it is. If it's something of value, some
things have to stay boxed to keep their value. Some
things can't ever be used to.
Speaker 4 (09:59):
Keep their Oh yeah, okay.
Speaker 3 (10:00):
I think she collects them because she loves them, though
not because she wants money in the future. You know
what I'm saying. It's not about value to her. It's about,
oh my gosh, you buy them.
Speaker 5 (10:09):
She makes the money, doesn't.
Speaker 1 (10:11):
Rick Springfield have collect Star Wars collect and he's never
taken another box.
Speaker 5 (10:15):
Yes, yes, yes, he's got some real, rare, one of
the kind ones.
Speaker 3 (10:19):
Yeah, but he's not cashing them in. He's like, he
has them because he wants them. But one day if
he needed it, yeah, I.
Speaker 4 (10:25):
Don't think he'll need it. Jesse's girl Hello.
Speaker 5 (10:27):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (10:28):
You know, if you collect things and you keep it
in the box, are you collecting the value for it
or are you collecting the actual item itself?
Speaker 1 (10:35):
I will know.
Speaker 3 (10:37):
Both seems like both respect for the item and respect
for the cash it can bring.
Speaker 5 (10:42):
You don't play with it, though, you don't know what's
the point exactly?
Speaker 4 (10:46):
To me, what's the point I'm about.
Speaker 1 (10:47):
That will happen if I put hot tea in this.
Speaker 4 (10:50):
We're going to have a tea party.
Speaker 3 (10:51):
Or I'll let Phoebe do whatever she wants to do
with her collected tea sets. We love hearing from you.
Thank you for those comments. Send us anything anytime. Instagram
or Facebook.
Speaker 6 (11:01):
Coming up in the next five minutes with Murphy, Sam
and Jolie.
Speaker 3 (11:04):
Murphy did some really cool man work around the house,
but only for thirty seconds at a time.
Speaker 4 (11:09):
I'm gonna tell you why next.
Speaker 3 (11:12):
Murphy did some man work around the house the other
day that made me a little nervous. In fact, I
was glad that I was gone for it because something, well,
not exactly.
Speaker 1 (11:23):
It sounds really bigger than it was. It wasn't a
major mechanical thing. It was washing the windows outside.
Speaker 3 (11:28):
Oh but okay, wait, tell them about the cleaner you
bought that's not really supposed touch glass for longer than
thirty sevends.
Speaker 1 (11:35):
Okay, so maybe I made a mistake and telling Jody
that part.
Speaker 4 (11:38):
Oh my gosh.
Speaker 1 (11:39):
You know, first, I do not like doing that. I
guess most people don't like doing windows. That's why people
say I don't do it. That's where all that came from.
So for whatever reason, I guess being a couple of years,
is dirt and grime have built up on the outside.
One underneath a tree, there's some algae. So this is
like more stubborn than I really feel like fooling with.
Speaker 5 (12:00):
You pressure wash it?
Speaker 1 (12:02):
No, I did not pressure wash it because what I
didn't want to do was damage anything or if there
was a leak, I didn't want water shooting into the house. Right,
So I went online, as as everybody should YouTube the
best owner's manual on the planet. Yeah, and you know,
got recommendations on how to clean them and what I
should buy. So the cleaner that I bought actually turned
out not to be for windows.
Speaker 3 (12:23):
We got one, not one, not one, but two of
those bad boys.
Speaker 1 (12:27):
Yeah, and it's the kind you attached to the hose.
And I'm reading the instruction label and you know it's like, okay, great,
it works on bricks and men, Okay, great, would fine
clean up the grill? Great? Okay, where's it? Where does
it talk about how to do this on windows? You
know you do three minutes on this you do five
minutes on that and finally I get three paragraphs in
and it says do not leave on windows for more
than thirty seconds. So I'm thinking, well.
Speaker 2 (12:47):
Maybe fast may work.
Speaker 1 (12:48):
It doesn't say not to use it on windows. Yes,
so that's exactly what I did. And look, but I
tested it on a smaller window first, and when it worked, okay,
I'm like, okay, I get this now. So it didn't
stain the glass and it cleaned them like they should.
I had to go back and wipe, but it.
Speaker 4 (13:06):
Looks like you could put your hand through it.
Speaker 3 (13:08):
It's so clear. It looks amazing. Our windows have never
been so clean.
Speaker 5 (13:12):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (13:13):
Now I only got two done, so at the pace
I'm going they finished in four months.
Speaker 4 (13:17):
Yeah, I'm still grateful.
Speaker 1 (13:21):
It's still progressed coming out.
Speaker 3 (13:24):
You're Hollywood Big winners from the Emmys last night and
favorite moments.
Speaker 6 (13:31):
Jody's Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 3 (13:33):
The Emmys were on last night. In his All Award shows, Man,
that's a four hour commitment. So if you couldn't hang,
we've got you covered, Okay. Game of Thrones, this Big
Drama Series category was so heavy this time.
Speaker 4 (13:47):
The Crown.
Speaker 3 (13:47):
Game of Thrones Handmaid's Tale, Stranger Things, This is Us, Westworld.
Speaker 5 (13:51):
And Game of Thrones was nominated for WHAT twenty two Awards.
Speaker 3 (13:54):
Twenty two overall. George R. R. Martin was in the
house too. Everybody was there. It was so awesome, Like
I didn't want them to I wanted I just wanted
shots of the crowd all the time.
Speaker 4 (14:06):
That's the suggestion.
Speaker 3 (14:08):
I want a little shot in the corner of the
screen of just the crowd constantly. Okay, so it won
for Drama Series, Game of Thrones.
Speaker 5 (14:15):
No nice to Tugerian breath in stuff, Tyropokes on a wheel.
Speaker 3 (14:20):
You know, a lot of those other shows are incredible,
but every episode of Game of Thrones, every episode is
like a cinematic event. It is an epic cinematic event,
from everything from the story to the photography to the costumes.
That's why everybody, you're if you ever get into that
(14:40):
show and really stick with it, you'll understand.
Speaker 4 (14:42):
I guess the hype.
Speaker 3 (14:44):
Here's I'm moving on to the comedy series that won
the Big Award for the Night. I've heard about this,
I have wanted to watch it, and now that I
see more, I am jumping on this. It's an Amazon
show called The Marvelous Missus masl Do you think you.
Speaker 2 (14:59):
Was supposed to be something and you suddenly realize you're not?
Speaker 4 (15:02):
Yes, married, Okay, it's about this lady. She gets married.
Speaker 3 (15:07):
She's got a lot of personality, a lot of character
in the late fifties, and she gets married in her
husband's decides he doesn't want to be married anymore. And
she ends up like going to a comedy club like
that night, and she does some stuff on stage. They
have to remove her, you know, she's not supposed to
be there. But then they find out, Wow, this girl's
got talents. So she decides to become a stand up
(15:27):
comedian and rave reviews. And now that I've seen parts
of it thanks to last night, I'm watching this, you know, I've.
Speaker 5 (15:35):
Been wondering about it. And then I see that the
person who created it wrote the series. And one again
also last night, was it was the same person that
did Gilmore Girls. Yeah, it's like, oh well, in that case,
it's got to be great.
Speaker 4 (15:47):
Writing quality, high quality. Look for it.
Speaker 3 (15:49):
We's have more you know, Emmy recaps for you big
winners and all and favorite moments coming up in our
next Hollywood Outside around seven thirty. We'll do it for
you favorite moments. In case you heard about there was
a big, beautiful, full proposal on stage.
Speaker 6 (16:02):
Up to date with Joni's Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 1 (16:08):
Jody's about to give you the hottest Halloween costumes for
kids for twenty eighteen. But you know, when I was
out shopping for all that home improvement stuff Sam, when
I was cleaning the windows and we talked about our trip,
right buy my chemicals, they had this big, tall automated
werewolf thing. When you walked in, he was eight feet tall.
Speaker 5 (16:26):
Dude.
Speaker 1 (16:26):
Yeah, it's kind of scary looking in the hall. Then
you move every time you walk in front of it.
That's the noise he moved to or he just uh
you know, his arms did move. Now I'm thinking about it.
I heard the howling the entire time I was a
while I was on somebody else just walked in.
Speaker 3 (16:44):
If you want to do a yard, do yard decour
this year. You can buy anything, go right ahead. But
if you put a Michael Meyer's mask on something sitting
in the yard.
Speaker 4 (16:54):
Nobody's coming, including the dog. I me terrifying. Maybe that's
what that's my reason.
Speaker 3 (17:00):
Michael Meyer scares me so much and he's coming back,
by the way in October.
Speaker 4 (17:06):
Maybe because I don't like William Shattoner either. You know,
I never could understand.
Speaker 3 (17:12):
Yeah, crazy, All right, kids, as promised, you guys are
ready most popular this. These are the ones the little kids.
This is who the little kids want to be. So
you're gonna see a lot of options for this. And
you may see a lot of these from the movie Coco.
Miguel I am.
Speaker 2 (17:26):
Not like the rest of my family. There's something that.
Speaker 6 (17:29):
Makes me do.
Speaker 3 (17:29):
This's the twelve year old hero, main character of this
lovely movie Coco.
Speaker 4 (17:34):
You're gonna see a lot of him.
Speaker 3 (17:35):
Okay, black panther, huge, and there's so much you.
Speaker 1 (17:39):
Can do textiles, Shepherd's cool outfits.
Speaker 3 (17:43):
Remember the first year that iron Man was popular, I
was in love with iron Man. I was like, oh
my gosh, this is the crazy, funny, crazy fun superhero.
And so many little iron Men were walking around about.
I mean, it was so fun. And that's to me
sweet because because you know, that kid feels like a
million bucks inside of that suit.
Speaker 5 (18:05):
Yeah, you know, you'll still see a bunch of iron
Man Man men today.
Speaker 4 (18:09):
Batman.
Speaker 3 (18:09):
Batman always works. Don't even get me started don't talk
about DC comics. Here's one for you, Sam, straight out
of your favorite World Star Wars. The porks the small
little penguin like creatures that you want to pet them
from the recent startle guinea pigs. They're ready, they're big, cute.
Speaker 5 (18:28):
Yeah, I guess that's why they're popular.
Speaker 1 (18:31):
If you that, I would rather be see that than
be scared every second.
Speaker 3 (18:34):
Yeah, and wait, if the whole family goes like Mom's
Princess Leiah and Dad's whoever he wants to be, the
little winds can be porks. Yeah, that's really cute and
hot this year and Fortnite.
Speaker 5 (18:44):
Mom Princess Leah and the goulbikini.
Speaker 4 (18:47):
I guess, depending on what neighborhood you're in.
Speaker 2 (18:49):
Sayoe coming up with Murphy, Sam.
Speaker 1 (18:51):
And Jody's got another recap of last night's Emmy's And
we want to hear from you next eight seven seven

Speaker 3 (19:05):
I'd love to hear from you jump in anytime eight
seven seven three one zero four MSJ And as many
moms already know, you are already, whether you want to
or not thinking about and planning Halloween costumes.
Speaker 1 (19:18):
Yeah, us, Dad's I don't think are as quick to see.
We need to be planning right now for that.
Speaker 3 (19:22):
Now you're at five point fifty nine on the thirty
first of October.
Speaker 5 (19:25):
Yeah, go ahead, Hey, what kind of candy do we have?
Speaker 4 (19:27):
Em?
Speaker 1 (19:28):
Leanne is calling in. You've got what, You've got your
plan already.
Speaker 8 (19:33):
My eight year old is a big fan of Starbucks
cake pops and she decided she wanted to be a
Starbucks worker for Halloween. We looked all over the internet
trying to find a green apron, the color that they wear,
and we could not find one. And my husband goes
in Starbucks the other day and just is talking to
one of the girls behind the counter and tells her what,
(19:54):
you know, she was going to be. And one of
the guys there gave her one of his aprons to
wear for Halloween, and we ordered her a black hat
off the internet. She got a cup from my husband
and she's ready to go.
Speaker 5 (20:09):
So is she gonna be carried around some of those
thin cake pops or is she going to try to
learn some of the dreams?
Speaker 8 (20:13):
Yes, she's going to have a cake pop and that's
going to be your Halloween.
Speaker 3 (20:16):
Yeah.
Speaker 8 (20:17):
All we did was spent eight bucks on the hat
and then the calls to the coffee.
Speaker 5 (20:21):
Now that one's gonna go over real well, because everybody
knows what a Starbucks maurista looks like exactly.
Speaker 8 (20:26):
And we and the guy was so nice. She gave
us the apron. Didn't even have to order it, and
we're going to have it altered a little bit and
it fits perfect.
Speaker 5 (20:33):
You know, it would be real fun is on Halloween
morning swing her in there and put her behind the
counter for like two or three seconds just for a picture.
Speaker 8 (20:42):
That would be cute. I bet they would love that. Anyway,
I just wanted to share that you guys have a
good day.
Speaker 5 (20:46):
Thank you.
Speaker 1 (20:47):
That's I mean. I remember youngest otter, Phoebe wanted to
be a smoothie king, you know.
Speaker 4 (20:52):
That work worker.
Speaker 1 (20:53):
I guess what you need to make employee, the drive
through employee, right.
Speaker 3 (20:56):
So we got her a shirt and she had her
big thing was the head sat. She wanted a headset
with the microphone at the front, and she we found.
Speaker 1 (21:03):
I had a few of those.
Speaker 4 (21:04):
He had some old headphone no figure.
Speaker 5 (21:06):
Yeah, Jack's fun Jackson one year wanted to be a
post postal hostal my male deliver mail mail carrier, mail carrier. Yeah,
what is the problem with us? Murphy the person that
has the letters. And we have a friend that let
him buyra his postal hat and we got a blue
shirt and put a patch on it, that postal employee patch.
(21:27):
We got that from our friend too, and he was
a male carrier.
Speaker 4 (21:29):
It is fun. It is so fun, all right. We
love hearing from you. Keep them coming.
Speaker 3 (21:33):
Let us know what you're already planning if you want
to otherwise, stick with us for a lot of ideas
between now and the thirty first of October eight seven
seven three one zero for MSJ.
Speaker 2 (21:43):
Coming out your Hollywood you'll take it.
Speaker 3 (21:46):
Last night's Emmy Awards ceremony, and the sweetest moment had
nothing to do with the.
Speaker 4 (21:52):
TV show.
Speaker 6 (21:55):
Jody's Hollywood Outsiders.
Speaker 3 (21:57):
Favorite moments from the Emmys last night, Well, for you, Sam,
maybe it was when Amelia Clarke came out.
Speaker 2 (22:04):
Lanister tougerin brathin Stock.
Speaker 3 (22:07):
She presented there gorgeous too, she always does, and she
presented with Millie Bobby Brown. So it's like I couldn't
figure out which one I wanted to look at because
Milly looks so cute with her glasses and her whimsical
formal dress, and boy, that girl has grown up since
the last time we saw her. But Favorite Game of
Thrones did win big, especially in that drama category. But
Favorite Moment, okay, I I happened to catch it because
(22:30):
I missed some I miss Betty White getting her you know,
Lifetime Achievement Award. I was so mad, but I had
to take a shower at some point. Anyway, so they're
doing the Directing Award for Variety Special and you can
see it's like Super Bowl Halftime Show featuring Joan was
one of them, and then oh, the Oscars was one
of them. And so the director is asked up and
(22:50):
his name is Glenn Weiss, and he thanks Jimmy Kimmel
and he thinks Team Oscar and I think at any
minute he's going to talk about the La La Land
mess up or something like that been his opportunity to
say something about that. He goes on to say about
how bittersweet it is because his mom had just passed
away two weeks ago, and that his mom was his sunshine,
and then he starts looking at his girlfriend, and this
(23:12):
is what happened.
Speaker 9 (23:13):
Jan, You are the sunshine in my life, and Mom
was right, don't ever let go of your sunshine. You
wonder why I don't like to call you my girlfriend
because I want to call you my wife.
Speaker 3 (23:27):
And this was not set up ahead of time, except
maybe in just in his head and heart, because she
was genuinely shocked.
Speaker 4 (23:35):
She didn't know whether to get up.
Speaker 3 (23:37):
She was so lovely, and then everybody egged her on
and she, you know, did eventually get up.
Speaker 9 (23:43):
This is the ring that my dad put on my
mom's finger sixty seven years on stage and to my
sisters and brothers, I didn't swipe, and Dad knows I
have it. Ugh, Jan, I want to put this ring
that my mom wore on your finger in front of
all these people and in front of my mom and
(24:04):
your parents watching from above.
Speaker 1 (24:09):
Will you marry me?
Speaker 3 (24:11):
It was so lovely Because he had not won, that
would not have happened. I mean, he would have done
it later, like somewhere else.
Speaker 5 (24:19):
And the whole time you're watching, it's like, are they
going to do that award show thing? And cut away?
Are they gonna cut away?
Speaker 3 (24:25):
Every single bit of it was there and it was
fabulous last night's and he's coming up in your next
Hollywood Outside of this morning around seven fifty five, Claire
Foy wins Big.
Speaker 6 (24:36):
Up to Date with Jony's Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 3 (24:40):
For moms and kids who are already thinking about costumes,
here's some ideas for you, and you can let us
know what you're working on already, or if you like
to wait and play it more.
Speaker 4 (24:49):
It's it called off the hip. What do you call
it when you're doing something.
Speaker 5 (24:53):
Off the cuff?
Speaker 4 (24:54):
Off the cuff?
Speaker 3 (24:54):
Thank you, Producer Bailey eight seven seven three one zero.
Speaker 4 (25:00):
Four ms J to jump in. You're correct, morning, Donna.
Speaker 2 (25:04):
Hey, good morning guys, y'all. We're good and we're doing
just great.
Speaker 5 (25:09):
I was calling about the Halloween costumes.
Speaker 8 (25:12):
I was going to tell you how my dress, my
daughter dressed a couple of years ago.
Speaker 2 (25:15):
She dresses a formal apology for a formal dress, and then.
Speaker 8 (25:21):
She took a sorry card from the sorry.
Speaker 2 (25:23):
Game and she was a formal apology.
Speaker 3 (25:26):
You have to explain that, well, just a couple of times,
but at least that's an easy one to explain.
Speaker 1 (25:32):
Yeah, there's some where you can even explain it and
people still are what.
Speaker 3 (25:36):
Okay, do you have to over explain it? You've not
done your job? Well, thank you, Donna.
Speaker 1 (25:41):
That's my thing.
Speaker 3 (25:41):
That's my only thing about Halloween, and I do want
kids listening. If you're feeling pressured that we're in an
overly creative time, I mean, you can google all kinds
of things and just have fun with it. If it's
not the most creative, best ever costume, so what, Yeah,
don't let the pressure of having something pinterest worthy take
away your trick or treat fun.
Speaker 5 (26:01):
Yeah, I almost overthink it.
Speaker 4 (26:03):
You totally can.
Speaker 5 (26:04):
Just like that. You have to explain it a couple
of times. At some point, it's just not fun anymore.
Speaker 4 (26:09):
But it is fun.
Speaker 3 (26:10):
I mean, is that's enjoyable for everybody that opens the
door to give you candy or anybody you're at a
party with. It's really fun when you do something that's like,
oh hah, Yeah.
Speaker 4 (26:18):
It's fun. But don't let it take up your entire
month of September to get to that. No way.
Speaker 1 (26:24):
Jody's got the list of the hot costumes for kids
for twenty eighteen, so if you need an idea started,
we've got those for you at Murphy Salmon Jody dot
Com and love to hear from you eight seven seven
three one zero four MSJ.
Speaker 2 (26:35):
Coming up next with Murphy, Sam and Jody.
Speaker 5 (26:38):
All Right, so you know I have twins, right, Mallie
and Barker. Well, one of the twins doesn't basically fed
up with the other one doesn't want to be around
him the rest of her life.
Speaker 1 (26:49):
Jody's got another Emmy's recap coming up for you in
the Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 5 (26:53):
Every weekend that I have the kids, Maddie, one of
my twins, yes, same female there, always writes me a letter.
Speaker 4 (27:01):
I love that tradition for me.
Speaker 5 (27:03):
Well, sometimes she hasn't and she'll steal my phone and
record a video and then tell me I didn't leave
you a letter, but look at your phone.
Speaker 4 (27:08):
Sweet.
Speaker 1 (27:09):
Well that's really sweet.
Speaker 4 (27:10):
Well, she wants you to remember her once she has
to leave.
Speaker 1 (27:13):
And I just found out that our daughters, Taylor and Phoebe,
when when Taylor goes to work and her break, she
writes a letter on a napkin for Phoebe, her sister,
our youngest daughter, every time. I didn't know that until
Phoebe told.
Speaker 3 (27:25):
Me that I have so many little things. They have
a whole world going on beyond us.
Speaker 1 (27:29):
I guess I'm just saying that. I mean, there's something
really special about that, right, I mean a note, even
if it does show up on text, it's just as
I love that.
Speaker 5 (27:37):
I know it is great, but that she does popcorn
would be even better. Well, he'll tailor that one. But
she always leaves it on her dressers. So when I
get back and I put her pillow and everything away,
and you know, pick up the room, I always find
it on the dresser. Always thanks for doing this this weekend,
I miss you by night. But this time Parker wasn't
here this past weekend, her twin, Yeah, he was. He
had a retreat at school. So the thank you note
(28:00):
kind of focused on Parker about really how awesome it
was not to have Parker around, because Parker is like
a ball of energy, you know, and it's just constant
until he falls asleep at night. Right, And so she
said it was like it was so quiet, it was
so much calmer, and then when Parker and Jackson get together,
it's just.
Speaker 2 (28:20):
Like even more.
Speaker 5 (28:22):
Yeah, sure, And so it drives Maddie, who's this quiet,
you know, shy girl, insane. So it was just like
thanks for the weekend. It sure was nice riding back
home with just me and you. It sure was nice
not to have Parker here because things were so much calmer.
Speaker 3 (28:39):
Well, you know, regardless of him being you know, like
a hummingbird and her being like a dove or whatever.
There's also there's that need. Even this closest siblings who
love each other very very much and get along really well,
it's wonderful for them to have one on one time
with the parents, right. They need it, they long for it,
and the dynamic is completely different. They are they're more
(29:01):
grown up and mature when they're away from each other.
Speaker 5 (29:03):
And I'll say this for Parker, as much as he
intends to drive her insane when he used to go
to boarding school, when he would come back from boarding school,
first person he ran to for a hug was HER's.
Speaker 4 (29:14):
That twin connection. Yeah, a good stuff.
Speaker 2 (29:18):
Sam coming up, Hollywood.
Speaker 3 (29:21):
Some big moments from the Emmy's Last night Big winners,
including Henry Winkler, who waited forty three years for his trophy.
Speaker 6 (29:31):
Judy's Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 4 (29:33):
Big winners last night at the Emmys.
Speaker 3 (29:35):
The Big Drama Series category winner was Game of Thrones.
Said it before every episode is like a cinematic event.
It's hard to compete. There's a lot of good shows
in that category.
Speaker 5 (29:48):
Two next year it's going to be like Breaking Bad.
Everybody's going to be happy in that tele that they're
out of there.
Speaker 4 (29:54):
Finally wrapping it up.
Speaker 3 (29:56):
Also, winner for the Best Comedy Series was this Amazon
show that I have to watch now called The Marvelust
Missus Mazel. It won a ton of awards and I
looked it up and it looks fabulously funny and beautiful.
Speaker 4 (30:09):
Also it's a period piece, late fifties.
Speaker 3 (30:11):
Okay, my favorite moments though, Let's move on to Henry
Winkler kicked off the night winning an award for a
Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series this series called Barry
on HBO, and he was so excited.
Speaker 4 (30:24):
He was like a little kid.
Speaker 5 (30:26):
Should I just say skip?
Speaker 10 (30:27):
Brittenham said to me a long time ago, if you
stay at the table long enough, the chips come to you.
And tonight I got to clear the table.
Speaker 2 (30:36):
The fun.
Speaker 10 (30:37):
You've got a chance to work with Bill Hayter or
Alec Berg, run, don't walk and the kids, kids, Jed,
Zoe and Max, you can go to bed now.
Speaker 1 (30:46):
Daddy won.
Speaker 3 (30:49):
He was the most excited and what a great way
to kick off the show because his energy was there.
Speaker 5 (30:53):
You know what did he say when he first got there.
He says, I've been holding on.
Speaker 3 (30:56):
To this this I'm wanting to do this or he's
been holding on to this thank you speech forty three
something years. Yeah, he was nominated six times for Happy
Days and never one I know, and that weird and
wrong and crazy. Okay, gotta say this. Also Claire Foy
one for Lead Actress and a Drama Series for her
work in The Crown. You my wife, Oh, my queen,
(31:16):
I am both and a strong man, will be able
to kneel.
Speaker 2 (31:18):
To both knel before my wife.
Speaker 4 (31:20):
Your wife wasn't asking you too, my queen commands me.
Speaker 2 (31:24):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (31:24):
She was crazy good in that, and you got to
know she's the she plays the wife in First Man.
She has that movie role, and she also is the
new girl in the Spider's Web. She's everywhere right now
and rightly so she's crazy good. Coming up at your
next Hollywood outside of this morning around eight thirty from
the Emmy's Favorite Moment, that proposal up to date with
(31:48):
Jody's Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 1 (31:52):
What happened at the Emmy's Last Night and two Minutes
or last Jodie can help you out with that coming
up in case you missed any of it.
Speaker 2 (31:58):
It is new and you can eat it. SAMs fellon,
it's the food, dude.
Speaker 5 (32:02):
Well this is new, but you can eat from it.
It's a brand new cookbook. I need to tell you about.
This is a very unique idea for a cookbook called
the Look cookbook.
Speaker 1 (32:11):
Look.
Speaker 5 (32:11):
Yes, there there are no instructions as far as all
picture written menu. It's all pictures, icons, numbers, you know,
for how much of an ingredient. It's just pictures and icons.
Speaker 1 (32:22):
Well, well, you say icons, you mean like if it's
three tablespoons, you have three spoons, you have yeahs.
Speaker 5 (32:29):
On them, And it doesn't have the full paragraph saying
okay do this.
Speaker 1 (32:33):
It's well, I.
Speaker 4 (32:33):
Will tell you this. That seems odd to me.
Speaker 3 (32:36):
However, I will say this, I've seen a picture of
something I really want to make. Like the other day
I saw a picture of these garlic and herb biscuits
and I thought, oh man, I need that recipe.
Speaker 4 (32:45):
And I looked at the recipe a novel like.
Speaker 5 (32:48):
Come out, Yeah Out biscuits. How hard can he be? Right?
Speaker 3 (32:51):
It was like, the longer the recipe, the less likely
I am going to do it.
Speaker 5 (32:54):
Yeah. So if it's called the Look Cookbook, if you're
interested in it, and it's in it like tie chicken
and sesame.
Speaker 1 (33:01):
Chicken and cheesecake, even that might work better for me
because the visual it's just easier, you know, simple, Keep
it simple for me.
Speaker 5 (33:08):
Eminem's is looking to roll out some new peanut flavors
for us next year, Peanut M and M's flavors, English
toffee peanut. You'll be all about that one. How about
this one? Mexican Halipino peanut.
Speaker 2 (33:20):
Down.
Speaker 4 (33:20):
I'm down. I'm down that.
Speaker 5 (33:22):
Interesting and thy coconut peanut. I want to try that one.
Speaker 1 (33:26):
See English toffee peanut. Yes, oh no, I'm about that too.
I know Jody just doesn't. I can't believe I haven't
won you over to that yet.
Speaker 4 (33:34):
Give it up.
Speaker 1 (33:35):
We had a neighbor down the street that made the
best toffee for Christmas time, and she'd show up. It
was like really thick at the bottom and really thick
chocolate on top.
Speaker 9 (33:43):
It was.
Speaker 5 (33:44):
It was a meal I used to make a heath
bar cheesecake.
Speaker 4 (33:48):
Hey, what's stopping you? I can eat the Cheeseca Heath Bar,
right's you.
Speaker 5 (33:54):
And also Panera bread if you like to eat their
They've got a new build your own mac and cheese.
So you order your mac and cheese or mount white
cheddar mac and cheese, and you can add avocado and
bacon and pulled smoke, pulled chicken, and then you can
go with the barbecue sauce and the fried onions and
all that. So instead of just saying, give me the
mac and cheese or give me the three options cheese bar. Yeah,
(34:16):
just like building your own pizza.
Speaker 1 (34:17):
Huh, thank you food dude.
Speaker 2 (34:19):
All right, coming up with Murphy's salmon.
Speaker 3 (34:21):
Joey Murphy did some man work around the house. Yeah,
but no longer than thirty seconds at a time.
Speaker 2 (34:29):
Don't rewind that.
Speaker 1 (34:29):
Don't get too impressed.
Speaker 3 (34:30):
Sam Murphy did some man work around the house the
other day.
Speaker 4 (34:36):
That made me a little nervous.
Speaker 3 (34:37):
In fact, I was glad that I was gone for
it because hearing something well not exactly.
Speaker 1 (34:43):
Sounds really bigger than it was. It wasn't a major
mechanical thing. It was washing the windows outside.
Speaker 3 (34:49):
Oh okay, wait, tell them about the cleaner you bought.
That's not really supposed touch glass for longer than thirty seconds.
Speaker 1 (34:56):
Okay, so maybe I made a mistake and telling Jody
that part.
Speaker 4 (34:58):
Oh my gosh.
Speaker 1 (34:59):
You know, first, I do not like doing that. I
guess most people don't like doing windows. That's why people
say I don't do it. That's where all that came from. So,
you know, for whatever reason, I guess, being a couple
of years, is dirt and grime have built up on
the outside. One underneath a tree, there's some algae. So
this is like more stubborn than I really feel like
fooling with.
Speaker 5 (35:20):
So do you pressure wash it?
Speaker 1 (35:22):
No? I did not pressure wash it because what I
didn't want to do was damage anything or if there
was a leak, I didn't want water shooting into the house. Right,
So I went online, as everybody should YouTube the best
owner's manual on the planet. Yeah, and you know, got
recommendations on how to clean them and what I should buy.
So the cleaner that I bought actually turned out not
to be for windows.
Speaker 3 (35:43):
We got one, not just one, not one, but two
of those bad boys, and it's the.
Speaker 1 (35:48):
Kind of attached to the hose and I'm reading the
instruction label and you know, it's like okay, great, it
works on bricks men, okay, great, would fine clean up
the grill? Great? Okay, where's it? Where does it talk
about how to do this on windows? You know, you
do three minutes on this, you do five minutes on that.
And finally I get three paragraphs in and it says
do not leave on windows for more than thirty seconds.
So I'm thinking, well.
Speaker 2 (36:08):
Maybe fast they work.
Speaker 1 (36:09):
It doesn't say not to use it on widows. Yes,
so that's exactly what I did, and they look But
I tested it on a smaller window first, and when
it worked, okay, I'm like, okay, I get this now.
So it didn't stain the glass and it cleaned them
like they should. I had to go back and wipe,
but it looks like.
Speaker 4 (36:27):
You could put your hand through it. It's so clear.
Speaker 3 (36:29):
It looks amazing. Our windows have never been so clean.
Speaker 5 (36:33):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (36:33):
Now, I only got two done, so at the pace
I'm going, we'll be finished in four months.
Speaker 4 (36:40):
I'm grapeful.
Speaker 1 (36:42):
It's still progress.
Speaker 6 (36:45):
Jodie's Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 3 (36:48):
One of the best moments that probably ever happened at
the Emmy's happened last night when Glenn Weiss accepted the
directing Emmy for a variety special. He's the director of
the Oscars, the Academy Awards, and he gets up there
and talks about has mom had just passed away, so
it was bittersweet for him, but he switched to but hey,
she loved my girlfriend, who's in the audience tonight.
Speaker 9 (37:08):
Jan you are the sunshine in my life. And Mom
was right, don't ever let go of your sunshine. You
wonder why I don't like to call you my girlfriend
because I want to call you my wife.
Speaker 5 (37:19):
Hey man.
Speaker 3 (37:21):
She was genuinely shocked, which has made it even sweet.
And you could tell he was a little nervous because
he didn't know he was going to win for sure,
but that was his plan, and he had the ring
in his pocket.
Speaker 9 (37:33):
Jan, I want to put this ring that my mom
wore on your finger in front of all these people,
and in front of my mom and your parents watching
from above.
Speaker 1 (37:41):
Will you marry me?
Speaker 4 (37:43):
So sweet?
Speaker 3 (37:44):
It was just a genuine moment that they all got
to experience, not planned. And she said, yes, Murphy, Sam
and Jody, you are a Hollywood insider. You did the
best time to buy Halloween decorations November first.
Speaker 1 (37:58):
But that kind of defeats the purpose if you don't
already have them.
Speaker 4 (38:01):
No, but I did that last year, and I told
you about that already.
Speaker 3 (38:03):
So this weekend the other day, when Murphy was cleaning
the windows, I cleaned out a hall closet and that's
where I found everything.
Speaker 4 (38:10):
So it's all organized now. So from last year.
Speaker 3 (38:13):
Yeah, last year, in early November, I bought a bunch
of stuff at seventy five percent off. I found out
what I've got. So I've got one set of lights
that you whatever. You shine them on the house and
they rotate.
Speaker 5 (38:23):
Oh what do they rotate? I saw something this weekend
like eyes, and they had somewhere the witches around.
Speaker 4 (38:28):
Some that are white that are ghosts. We have some
that are green that are witches.
Speaker 1 (38:31):
Yeah, for the price that she paid, I'm interested to
see if they actually show up, you know what I mean.
Could be too dim for the side of.
Speaker 4 (38:37):
The No, no, no, these were They're legit. They just
happened to be on the clearance rack.
Speaker 5 (38:42):
Well, let me ask you, if you don't mind other stuff,
how much you paid for those?
Speaker 3 (38:46):
Don't remember? But I paid seventy five percent over whatever
it says on them.
Speaker 5 (38:49):
I saw on this weekend for like thirty bucks a light.
Speaker 1 (38:51):
Oh, they were cheaper than that. I remember Jodie saying
if you paid eight or nine bucks for him.
Speaker 4 (38:54):
I think man seventy five percent.
Speaker 3 (38:57):
As I also have two little pumpkins with lights inside.
And then I also have a skeleton man. Well his
head and hands, it looks like he's climbing out of
the grass.
Speaker 4 (39:08):
Yeah, so can we lights up?
Speaker 1 (39:10):
Can we at least hold off till October the first before.
Speaker 3 (39:12):
We do the Phoebe saw it and wants to start now,
but I said no, no, no, we're waiting till late September.
Speaker 5 (39:17):
We have to move the Christmas tree out the way
to put that up. Yeah, Murphy, I know how you
like to order your pizza on the app, just like
I do.
Speaker 1 (39:25):
Yeah, well, I mean that way you know when it's
going on the oven, when it's you know.
Speaker 5 (39:28):
Who you're driving is?
Speaker 3 (39:29):
Yeah, then he paces and stalks the app until the
pizza is at the door.
Speaker 1 (39:34):
The problem is, I never know whether this person's going
to show up in the front of the back door.
Even though I put the notes in there, it could
be confusing.
Speaker 5 (39:39):
Yeah. Uh, well, it got the better of me because
I didn't pay attention to what I was ordering the
other day and ordered, and the little red bar goes
across to tell you the procept where your pizza is
in the oven, it's out for delivery and all that stuff,
and I wasn't reading it. I was just looking at
the red bar and all of a sudden, ding, it's finished. Yay,
(40:00):
the pizzas out for delivery. Wait and wait and wait
and wait and wait and wait and wait. I go
back and I look on the app and it's like,
I ordered this thing forty five minutes ago. Where is
my pizza?
Speaker 1 (40:10):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (40:10):
So I started scrolling down and it said, oh, your
pizza is ready for carry out.
Speaker 1 (40:17):
So you went to pick up a cold pizza.
Speaker 5 (40:19):
So yeah, here I am about to pick up the
phone and call and say where's my pizza? It says
on the little red bar that it's out for delivery,
and the little red bar says, your pizza is ready,
come and get it. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (40:32):
Did you go pick it up?
Speaker 5 (40:33):
Yeah? I went and picked it up. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (40:35):
Was it warm?
Speaker 5 (40:36):
Yeah? It was warm because I keep it under the
heat lamp where you.
Speaker 1 (40:38):
Dressed properly when you went to pick it up, since
you were expecting home delivery is.
Speaker 5 (40:42):
Actually I was not. I just put on my flip
flops and took off because it's like this pizza needs
to be here.
Speaker 1 (40:50):
Thanks for having us on while your work. When you
get a chance later today come hang out with us
after the show and the Murphy, Sam and Jody podcast.
Speaker 3 (40:57):
Yeah, today it's going to be why it actually took
Murphy all day to clean a couple of windows.
Speaker 1 (41:03):
I've got reasons, reasons or excuses.
