Speaker 2 (00:54):
That's what sealed the fate for me. It's like I
can hang with this group.
Speaker 1 (00:58):
You know, it's always a it's a commplement to be
the first person in somebody's you know, in the family
that gets to meet your new person. My friend Melanie.
I don't think I was the first, but she's married recently.
I guess what four years now, they've been married four years.
I met her when they were just dating. She had
me come to dinner with him. You came to Murphy, remember.
Speaker 2 (01:19):
Oh yeah, Oh you mean like her husband passed the test?
Is that what you're saying?
Speaker 1 (01:23):
Well, he was. They were just dating then. Anyway, I
just knew that that was what I was being called
there for. Gotcha. It's like, we want, I want you
to meet this guy. I'm serious about it.
Speaker 2 (01:33):
I got you, Okay.
Speaker 4 (01:34):
Sorry.
Speaker 3 (01:34):
It took me a second to fallof Was Candace there
for the test? Or was Candace just happened to be
the first one that Murphy met.
Speaker 1 (01:41):
I don't know. I just honestly, he was so new
to me I felt comfortable it was important to me
that you two meet.
Speaker 3 (01:48):
Or somebody said sonic and Murphy was there.
Speaker 2 (01:50):

and that's a human get.
Speaker 2 (03:52):
It smart tables turn.
Speaker 1 (03:54):
Yeah. We also have a horror movie. I won't say
the name of it, but you can use your imagination.
I'll nick name it heck Fest.

I want to hear from you. What little things are
you grateful for this morning? Maybe they're big eight seven
seven three one zero four m asked Jay Britney, You're next.
It's easy to be grateful on a Friday, right, So
it's grateful Friday. Eight seven seven three one zero four
m asked Jay, let us know what little or big
things you are grateful for right now? Good morning? Is this?
Speaker 9 (05:25):
This is Brittany good stationed over at Tyndall Air Force Base,
and I just wanted to tell you guys what I'm
grateful for this morning.
Speaker 3 (05:32):
Oh sure, what are you grateful for?
Speaker 2 (05:34):
Well?
Speaker 9 (05:35):
Ever since I had my daughter about a year and
a half ago, I've been struggling really bad with like
depression and anxiety, and I didn't really know how to
talk to the people around me about it. But my
supervision kind of noticed, you know, that something was off,
and they sat me down and they talked to me,
you know, and kind of told me that I wasn't
alone and that I had resources and they would help me.
(05:58):
And pretty much, ever say that day, they've been every
day checking on me, making me appointments to find the
help that I need. And I'm actually getting tested now
for polystic ovarian syndrome and they think that could really
be the problem and they can put me on medication
that will actually help me feel a lot better.
Speaker 1 (06:19):
Now, Well, do whatever you can do, whatever you can. Yeah,
for you, for you, and oh yeah.
Speaker 9 (06:25):
And I'm just so grateful that somebody took the time
you know, out of their day to say hey, we
noticed you know, something was wrong and we really want
to help you. It just makes me feel like I
have a second family.
Speaker 5 (06:38):
You know.
Speaker 1 (06:39):
All of that that happens to you is very real.
All of that, all of that that you feel after
you have a baby is very real and to me,
more than the system can handle. So you definitely need help,
you know, we all do. Oh yeah, well, thank you, And.
Speaker 9 (06:53):
I'm really grateful for you guys, because you make my
morning better. On the way to work every day, I
always look forward to hear, hey, guys, thank you.
Speaker 2 (07:01):
That's really sweet, Brittany. We appreciate the call.
Speaker 1 (07:04):
Yeah, grateful Friday.
Speaker 2 (07:05):
We're we're glad to hear that. You know, things are
working out for you too.
Speaker 1 (07:07):
Eight seven seven three one zero four six seven five.
Anytime you want to join.
Speaker 5 (07:13):
Us showing up next with Murphy, Sam and Jody.
Speaker 2 (07:17):
We're gonna do Jody's Friday Favorite. You know, we go
round the table every Friday for favorites.
Speaker 1 (07:20):
What's up, jow, This is something happened that happened earlier
in the week. We did it in the Hollywood Outsider.
The most followed celebrity on Instagram did something surprising and
I thought it was so awesome. We have that for
you next.
Speaker 2 (07:37):
You know, you can use the weekend as little catchup
time for anything you missed here on Murphy Sam and
Jody by grabbing the podcast podcast did every show from
this past week, and then we do something called after
the show that you only get online. And there are
five of those that you can go check out too.
So you know what make it a weekend?
Speaker 5 (07:53):
Jody's Friday favorite.
Speaker 2 (07:55):
All right, Jody, you're up?
Speaker 1 (07:56):
Okay, remember earlier this week in the Hollywood Outsider, the
Selena Gomez story.
Speaker 5 (08:00):
Can't keep my hands to myself.
Speaker 1 (08:03):
This just stood out to me as something I want
to just talk about. Okay, So Selena Gomez is the
most followed person on Instagram. Mm hmm, period like that.
It's her, Yeah, but.
Speaker 3 (08:15):
I have just assumed it would be a Kardashian or
somebody like that.
Speaker 1 (08:20):
It's not. It's Selena Gomez. So anyway, I think they're
all really close and the gazillion followers. But she announced
like on Monday, I'm taking a social media break. This
was her post again is what she said. I'm taking
a break again. As much as I'm grateful, for the
voice that social media gives each of us. I am
(08:40):
equally grateful to be able to step back and live
my life present to the moment I have been given.
And she goes on to say that negative comments can
hurt anybody's feelings, and apparently maybe she got her feelings hurt,
and so she's just being a human being and she's
taking a break from it. You know, you would think
the person who's followed the most, like that she knows
(09:00):
that she's the most would feel a pressure to be there.
But instead, she's going to choose to take care of
herself and her mind at her own on headspace for
her And that's the one thing I love about her
kind of being. I guess she is a superstar, but
you know, maybe she's an idol to a lot of kids,
because you do need to shut it off. You're not
(09:20):
meant to constantly connect.
Speaker 3 (09:22):
And the fact that she is the most followed means
that there's more opportunity for those negative views to come
back at her.
Speaker 1 (09:30):
Yeah, that's what her friend Taylor says. She took a
ninety day social media break last year after she had
her kidney transplant, and so she's doing it again. For
what reasons, we really don't know, but just her own
heart and self, you know, just taking care of your
mental self. And I think it's a really good idea
that anybody should do. If you're feeling anxiety because of that,
(09:53):
that's not real anyway. You know, what everybody else is
doing has nothing to do with your life. So I
just like that example from Miss Selena, Goumaz.
Speaker 5 (10:01):
Murphy, Sam and Jody Money.
Speaker 2 (10:04):
And coming up next, Sam is the food dude.
Speaker 3 (10:06):
Yeah, I gonna let you know how Bob Bob Bob's
Burger fans this weekend can actually dine on real Bob's Burgers. Cool.
Speaker 5 (10:16):
Sam always fines the new eats. Geez, the food dude.
Speaker 3 (10:20):
We are all big fans of Bob's Burgers, right, especially
our kids at the house. Yeah, my kids are the
ones who turned me onto it, and I just I
can't get enough.
Speaker 2 (10:30):
Now.
Speaker 3 (10:30):
I'm slowly going through I'm binging it slowly. I just
finished season one. Yeah, this weekend. Season nine kicks off
on Sunday.
Speaker 1 (10:37):
I didn't know that. I guess the girls probably do. Murphy.
Speaker 3 (10:40):
Yeah, there's it's the one hundred and fiftieth episode that's going
to kick off Sunday, and so to honor this, a
couple of restaurants around the country, one in Phoenix, one
in Atlanta, one and Saint Louis are turning themselves into
Bob's Burgers.
Speaker 1 (10:51):
That's so cool.
Speaker 3 (10:52):
It's awesome, and you'll be able to go in there
and order the burger special of the day now. Of course,
if you're a fan of Bob's Burgers, you know they
have the black board. They always have the crazy sounding burger.
Two of the restaurants are doing new baconings like New Beginnings,
and the other one is doing don't you for it?
Cheddar about Me?
Speaker 2 (11:12):
That's cute, So you can go check those out at
I wish it was happening here. No, I don't know
that it's worth, you know, the travel, but.
Speaker 1 (11:19):
You'd make burgers at home on Sunday for the girls
and they would think that was.
Speaker 2 (11:23):
Oh and you gep it.
Speaker 3 (11:24):
Probably when you dry erase boards and write a crazy
burger on there, mom, that'll work, okay. Also, another big
weekend this weekend for coffee. You remember tomorrow is National
Coffee Day. Every day, a lot of the big places,
Barnes and Noble Cafe, Dunkin Donuts, Caribou Coffee and Krispy
Kreme and others. Check check your local listings are doing
(11:45):
deals where it's just a free cup of coffee, or
you come in and buy a donut, you get a
free cup of coffee.
Speaker 1 (11:50):
But that's happy.
Speaker 3 (11:50):
Usually more than likely tomorrow you can get your free
cup of coffee somewhere excellent. And I Hopped they're back
in the news again. Remember earlier anymore, No earlier this
year they went I hob for International House of Burgers.
Now they are making news because they're selling well. They
put their name on a new beer that's out. It's
I Hop's Pumpkin Pancake Stout. They've team teamed up with
(12:13):
a micro brewery and they're taking some of their pumpkin
spice pancake batter and they're putting it into this creation
of this beer. Post it tastes good. So it's a
pumpkin pancake stout beer. Okay, you can't get it at
IE Hop though you can only go. You'll only be
able to find it in stores and infused in certain
locations around the country.
Speaker 2 (12:34):
Thank you, food dude.
Speaker 1 (12:35):
All right, coming out Hollywood, somebody's getting married in their backyard.
This weekend and Hollywood and guests include Reese with a
Spoon and Robert Downey Junior. Tell you about It next.
Speaker 5 (12:48):
Jody's Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 1 (12:50):
There's going to be a big Hollywood wedding this weekend,
actually a small one. Gwyneth Paltrow is getting married again.
Oh well, is this a surprise. Well, she's been dating
this producer, Brad Falchuk for a couple of years. They
met on the set of Glee. He produced the episode
where she was on. I know you watched Glee, Yeah, Admitte.
Speaker 3 (13:09):
So he's a big friend of Ryan Murphy's. They do
a lot of stuff together, right.
Speaker 1 (13:12):
Well, she played Holly Holiday on the show on Glee
and they met there and they've been dating for a while.
He proposed to her earlier this year, so she took
her time and decided this is how she wanted to
do it. So she's doing a private but lavish ceremony
in her backyard of her Hampton's home.
Speaker 3 (13:29):
What's that when she was married to Chris Martin still.
Speaker 1 (13:32):
Called Yeah, what do you mean? She's not married to
Chris Martin anymore?
Speaker 3 (13:35):
I know, but I mean back when she did Glee.
That's that's you know, good five years or so ago.
Speaker 1 (13:40):
I don't know about the math of this, but they
met there.
Speaker 3 (13:43):
Okay, I got it.
Speaker 1 (13:44):
Doesn't mean they made out behind the Martin Yeah, okay.
So celebrity guests in her Hampton's backyard include this Weekend,
Reese Witherspoon, Cameron Diaz, and Robert Downey Junior. I mean,
you gotta have Iron Man there for Pepper Potts. Pepper Potts,
so he proposed their Mary. They've been together for a
while and I wouldn't be surprised if Chris Martin wasn't
there because they had those children together and very friendly. Yeah,
(14:07):
so congrats to Gwyneth Johnson.
Speaker 3 (14:09):
Will be there too.
Speaker 1 (14:10):
Yay. Keeping up with everything, aren't you saying?
Speaker 2 (14:13):
Uh huh?
Speaker 1 (14:13):
I remember, let's move on. Remember that Quentin Tarantino was
making a movie called Once Upon a Time in Hollywood
right about that time back in Hollywood when all that
Manson stuff going on and crazy and it's star Sudded
Brad Pitt in this movie and Leonardo DiCaprio and Bert
Reynolds was scheduled.
Speaker 3 (14:33):
I bet he'd have done a great job.
Speaker 1 (14:34):
My gosh, he lived through. He really could have brought
some realism to it. Of course, he passed away, and
it's been announced that Bruce Dern will replace him. Oh okay,
take on that role. And that's also someone who certainly
can do it well.
Speaker 3 (14:48):
He Bruce has done a few Quinton movies.
Speaker 9 (14:52):
NGO.
Speaker 1 (14:53):
Yeah, so look for that. We'll have that movie next year.
And yesterday Sony Pictures tweeted the first image of Tom
Hank as Fred Rogers. Did you see it? It will
shake you. It's like two people that you know and
love came together and it's strange but lovely and I
dug into it. This one's called You Are My Friend,
(15:15):
and it's not going to be here though, until next year,
probably at this time October twenty nine. Minute Tom Hanks
can play Fred Rogers. No, kidd, we are ready coming
up in your next Hollywood Outsider around the seven fifty
five this morning. We'll get you ready for what's new
this weekend at the box office.
Speaker 5 (15:32):
Up to date with Jody's Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 1 (15:38):
It's Grateful Friday. Let us know what little thing or
big that you are grateful for today. Just a good
way to start your day. Get in the habit of
doing it every day because it's easy to be grateful
on Friday.
Speaker 3 (15:47):
Tomorrow's National Coffee Day.
Speaker 1 (15:49):
I know every day's National coffee from okay eight seven
seven three one zero four MSJ. This weekend is homecoming
weekend for your kids, right.
Speaker 3 (15:59):
Sam, Yeahjackson and Parker Actually tomorrow night, okay, they've got
their favorite schools that they're getting together at six point
thirty in two different cities for pictures. They're going to
dinner at seven in two different cities.
Speaker 2 (16:09):
So you've successfully cloned yourself now and you're gonna be
able to attend both. Is that the good news?
Speaker 3 (16:13):
I bought a Sam mask and I'm gonna pay somebody
to go take pictures now. I really haven't. I'm gonna
put thought into it.
Speaker 1 (16:21):
Tomorrow, it's okay. Remember go to Jackson in the first
for the regular where the parents are always there taking pictures,
and then send them off to the dance, and get
in your car and go see Parker either at the
dance or at dinner.
Speaker 3 (16:33):
Right, and the pictures. And then this is really gonna
sound bad. But then there's a football game that I
really want to be home for to watch on TV.
I'm aware of that, you know, I gotta juggle all
of those to make sure I'm back for kickoff a
certain game.
Speaker 1 (16:47):
Huh, yeah, well it could be done. You could always
isn't Parker's dance near your mom's house, so you got
friends over there. You could totally go watch the game
somewhere else after Parker.
Speaker 3 (16:58):
That could do that.
Speaker 1 (16:59):
Yeah, there are ways to get it all in.
Speaker 3 (17:01):
I'm grateful for you bringing that up, Jody.
Speaker 1 (17:05):
Okay, later this hour we also have music news. I'm
dying about this Bradley Kipper story.
Speaker 3 (17:10):
Yeah, famous rocker, grunge rocker that Bradley Cooper is basing
his star as born character on.
Speaker 1 (17:15):
Really coming up next though, Debbie, coming to you eight
seven seven three one zero four MSJ for Grateful Friday.
It's Grateful Friday. Also game day grub recipes on our
website for you for your football eating needs.
Speaker 2 (17:33):
Murphy, since as much about the food as it is
the game.
Speaker 1 (17:35):
Yeah, Murphy, Sam and Jody dot com to go get those.
Speaker 3 (17:39):
How are you this morning, Jebbie?
Speaker 4 (17:40):
WHOA, I'm fine, Thank you very much.
Speaker 1 (17:42):
We're asking what can we do for you?
Speaker 4 (17:45):
Well, I'm grateful this morning. My sixty six year old
husband fell from fifteen feet onto concrete last month. Who broke,
broke both legs, both feet, destroyed his right ankle. But
here's the good thing. He could have been killed.
Speaker 1 (18:01):
Yeah, what happened?
Speaker 4 (18:03):
You know? Well, he was on a ladder, a tall ladder,
trying to kill crop under bees. Can you imagine, okay,
by himself here at home, and it tipped and he
thought he'd got it straight, but then it tipped the
other way, so he grabbed the rafters. Now the worst
thing is likely. You know, he could only hold on
for about twenty seconds. Since he's not Tom Cruise, it's true, true,
(18:28):
So why didn't you just swing your legs up there
on it?
Speaker 6 (18:30):
You know?
Speaker 1 (18:31):
But he haven't you seen mission impossible?
Speaker 4 (18:36):
Of course, it's one of our favors. But you know
he had to let go, you know, because he couldn't
hold it, and just falling like that. It's just got
to be terrible knowing.
Speaker 2 (18:46):
You're going to do it.
Speaker 4 (18:47):
Yeah, you know, that's horrible if you just fall off
the ladders, it's so fast, but when you're just dangling there,
it had to be horrible. Okay, he can't have any
weight on either leg for three months.
Speaker 1 (19:01):
Wow, oh whoa. I guess it's gonna be a long
football season for him.
Speaker 4 (19:06):
Maybe it's gonna be a long sitting in a chair.
Speaker 1 (19:10):
Yeah, and you're waiting on him marchin.
Speaker 5 (19:12):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (19:12):
How many times have you heard honey, can you bring.
Speaker 10 (19:14):
Me a lot?
Speaker 4 (19:16):
But you know what it's I'm so grateful. Yes, it
could be worse always, of course.
Speaker 2 (19:21):
Yes.
Speaker 1 (19:21):
Well, look, thank you for letting us know that. We
love Grateful Friday.
Speaker 4 (19:24):
Thank you. I love your show.
Speaker 2 (19:27):
Thanks Debbie, we appreciate that. I always I'm always getting
nervous when the latter does that to me. Yeah, you
know there's that little sign that says dune step above this.
Speaker 1 (19:36):
Yeah, and Debbie, Now Murphy's not gonna get a ladder
for three years? How love that story?
Speaker 3 (19:40):
How many times have you ignored the warning Murphy on
the ladder?
Speaker 2 (19:44):
All it took was.
Speaker 1 (19:45):
Once serious stuff? Eight seven seven three one zero four
ms J anytime you want to join us?
Speaker 5 (19:52):
Yeah, Sam has music news.
Speaker 3 (19:54):
Yeah, I'm gonna let you know which famous rocker grunge
rocker actually. Bradley Cooper said he his character in A
Star is born.
Speaker 5 (20:02):
After Sam's got music news.
Speaker 3 (20:07):
Joy, you've told us already for Bradley Cooper and A
Star is born. He worked with a voice coach for.
Speaker 1 (20:11):
A couple of years, at least a year, because he
wanted his voice to be deeper and not so Bradley.
Speaker 3 (20:17):
Like Sam Elliott.
Speaker 1 (20:19):
Yeah, he was trying to sound like does he speak
like this now or is it strictly for the part
he speaks like it in the movie. I don't know
what he sounds like now, but I'm sure his natural
he doesn't have to try to lower it anymore, so
I'm sure his real voice is there. Yeah, like from
the Hangover.
Speaker 3 (20:32):
And He's also said in other interviews that he modeled
the performance pieces of The of Stars Born after Metallica's
concert the way they perform it, right, I remember he
said he was behind Lars at the drum set wants
and he likes the way they perform or they.
Speaker 1 (20:46):
No, he said that the way he was seeing that
that show from that vantage point, he could see the
sweat on Lars's like shoulders. He thought, Wow, audiences need
to see a concert this way. Right.
Speaker 3 (20:56):
Well, now he's come out and said the actual artist
that he modeled his character after the character's name is
Jackson Maine, and he modeled it after Eddie Vedder from
Pearl Jam.
Speaker 2 (21:09):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (21:09):
God, good one. Good one good show.
Speaker 2 (21:12):
I mean like styling conversation, personality or look or what
he said.
Speaker 3 (21:16):
He went and spent four or five days with Eddie
and asked him about nine thousand questions and.
Speaker 1 (21:20):
He could understand the answer.
Speaker 9 (21:21):
Absolute.
Speaker 3 (21:22):
Yeah, I wasn't Ozzie, but he said that. Eddie was like, wait,
you're gonna star in this movie and you're gonna do this,
and he told him, you really don't want to do this.
I don't know why he didn't think Bradley Cooper was
up to it.
Speaker 1 (21:34):
But he's actually do it.
Speaker 3 (21:35):
Well, we've seen in the trailers. It looks like he's up.
Speaker 1 (21:37):
Looks so genuine.
Speaker 2 (21:38):
A lot of people were concerned about the comedy thing,
but look, he did silver Lining's Playbook and was unbelievable
in that movie, you remember.
Speaker 1 (21:44):
I don't think it's about whether he can do drama.
We know he can do drama. Well, I think it's
about playing someone who we didn't know he could sing either,
and wow, he can really sing.
Speaker 3 (21:53):
Yeah, he's on a number of songs on the soundtrack too.
Speaker 1 (21:56):
I know we're like looking for the weekend and all that,
but that I'm going to see that early next week.
Speaker 3 (22:00):
Oh don't forget AMC theaters are showing it two days early. Oh,
I know, Tuesday and Wednesday.
Speaker 1 (22:05):
I know.
Speaker 3 (22:06):
I don't know if you caught this earlier. This week too,
Jody Prince got an honorary degree from the University of Minnesota,
Doctor of Humane Letters. And this isn't just because oh
Prince passed away. Let's do this and honor him. This
was in the works before he passed away. The university
was going to honor him.
Speaker 1 (22:22):
He knew about it.
Speaker 3 (22:23):
They put it on hold for a while, and then
his sister Tiker was up there. She actually got the awards,
and then a bunch of students from the School of
Music at the University of Minnesota performed some Prince songs
and put on a little concert for everybody that was
at the ceremony.
Speaker 1 (22:36):
Deliciousness, Doctor, doctor Prince.
Speaker 5 (22:39):
Murphy sim Joy music News.
Speaker 2 (22:42):
All right, coming up, It's grateful Friday.
Speaker 1 (22:44):
Yeah, I want to hear from you. What little things
or big things are you grateful for today. It's easy
to be grateful on Friday, but when you start your
day with that, you know, it just makes a big difference. Lynn,
come to you next eight seven, seven, three to one
zero for MSJ.
Speaker 2 (23:02):
So, since Sam has three choices to make tomorrow, two
of them involve his kids in which homecoming he's going
to be at to take pictures in the other is
what to eat at the game that he's going to
be watching tomorrow afternoon. Good news is we can solve
at least that last one with Game day Grub.
Speaker 1 (23:15):
Yeah, Game day Grub recipes are online and we've added
something to it, olive cheesebread. Ok before right, it is
so long time ago. It's been a long time. It's
so super easy and cheesy and savory, and you bake
it up on French bread. What anybody could make? Tho olive,
green and black. Chop them up. Get the full recipe
(23:36):
at Murphy samon Jody dot com. Okay, guys, let's continue
with Grateful Friday. Just starting your day with kind of acknowledging,
even if you don't say it out loud, something you're
very grateful for, even if it's something simple, makes a
big difference in your day and life. So I want
to hear from you. Eight seven seven three one zero
four MSJ.
Speaker 2 (23:56):
How are you?
Speaker 9 (23:57):
Lynn?
Speaker 10 (23:58):
I'm great and I'm so decided. Today's Grateful Friday because
today is actually my husband and I are sixteenth wedding anniversary.
Speaker 1 (24:07):
Wow. He is.
Speaker 10 (24:09):
He is definitely the one person, thing, everything that I
am the most grateful for because he saved me. He
always says I saved him, but he really saved me
and makes me a better person every day.
Speaker 1 (24:20):
I like that.
Speaker 10 (24:22):
Yeah, and I know you don't believe in soulmates. I
don't necessarily go along with that term either, but he
definitely saved my soul at a time I needed it.
He's just an amazing man.
Speaker 1 (24:35):
Yeah. Well, congrats on that and happy anniversary.
Speaker 10 (24:39):
Thank you. You guys have a great weekend.
Speaker 2 (24:41):
Thanks Lynn you two. And I was just you know,
for Jody's sake. She actually does believe in the concept
of soulmates. She doesn't like the term.
Speaker 1 (24:49):
Actually, that's right. You say it one time, and man,
you're the girl who doesn't believe in soulmates.
Speaker 3 (24:55):
I know, I know. Helena is grateful Friday for her anniversary.
I checked the cout only real quick, Murphy and Jody, Oh, stop,
November the twelfth is a Monday this year, so you
can't have Grateful Friday on your anniversary.
Speaker 2 (25:06):
So well, that's okay. We can be grateful for the
Friday before and after maybe, And you know what the
big thing to me is, I'm glad you clarified that
our anniversary actually is on the twelfth, because both Jody
and I have thought it's been on the thirteenth on.
Speaker 1 (25:19):
Occasion only when we're having a bad day. Okay, Lynn,
give us a call anytime. Eight seven seven three one
zero four m s. J.
Speaker 5 (25:29):
Coming up next with Murphy, Sam and Jody.
Speaker 1 (25:32):
All Right, Friday Favorites time. Sam, you are up.
Speaker 3 (25:35):
Got the most amazing national anthem performance ever by a
seven year old.
Speaker 1 (25:41):
Time to celebrate your favorite things from the week. Sam,
You're up.
Speaker 5 (25:45):
Sam's Friday favorite.
Speaker 3 (25:47):
Some mucht like grateful Friday too, Huh. It is for
something I'm thankful for. Seven year old girl. I don't
know if you caught this. You went kind of viral this.
I did La Galaxy soccer game earlier this week. She
sang the national anthem and she's only seven.
Speaker 4 (26:03):
S came you.
Speaker 11 (26:06):
See by the diserly Loaren for seven.
Speaker 1 (26:15):
That's unbelievable, It's unbelievable for any age.
Speaker 2 (26:18):
True, Well, that's true.
Speaker 3 (26:19):
Now this sounds really good, But I'm going to jump
around in the song here because there's stuff you got
to hear. Get ready for this one?
Speaker 2 (26:35):
Wow?
Speaker 1 (26:38):
Whoa yeah?
Speaker 3 (26:44):
And she was tearing it up and of course, you know,
you get to the end where it sometimes it's hard
to hit those high notes, and she did.
Speaker 1 (27:02):
Wow ah man Goosey's goose bumps.
Speaker 2 (27:13):
What a sweetheart?
Speaker 1 (27:16):
And is there a petition yet for her to sing
at the Super Bowl?
Speaker 3 (27:20):
She was awesome and.
Speaker 1 (27:22):
You cannot help but be inspired by that.
Speaker 3 (27:24):
What's funniest, too, is when the guy was announcing her name,
you could hear she had the mic and she was
like humming the national anthem under her breath getting here.
By the way, here is her name. I am not
going to try to say this. I'll let the PA
announce her.
Speaker 1 (27:38):
Well.
Speaker 2 (27:38):
Malaya am a.
Speaker 1 (27:41):
Yeah from drug Wigia. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (27:44):
So way to go there, Malaya, beautiful name, beautiful voice.
Speaker 1 (27:48):
Coming up next, the family Friendly Box Office Review. Take
you to the movies and let you know what's playing.
There is something family friendly, but there seems to be
something in every category. We'll do that for you next.
Speaker 5 (28:01):
New movies this week, Murphy Sam and Jody Damlin Friendly
Box Office Review.
Speaker 1 (28:05):
Are you guys ready to dig in? A Star is Born?
Is not until next weekend. The boy cannot wait. I'm
gonna try to see it early, Okay, new today. Kevin Hart,
Tiffany Hattish. I mean those two names, I'm already thinking hilarious.
It's called night School. You're the best salesman I've ever seen.
I could see you being a stockbroker like me.
Speaker 5 (28:24):
Could you give me a job? I wish I could.
Speaker 6 (28:26):
My bosses won't let me hire or drop out. Looking
long as that a Berg he dropped out of Harvard,
you dropped out of Keiedmont Hunt.
Speaker 1 (28:33):
So a group of troublemakers. They are forced to attend
night school and hopes that they can you know, get
their ged and pass the exam and all that kind
of stuff. Kevin Hart, Tiffany Hattish. It just you know, screams.
Speaker 3 (28:43):
Comedy trailer for this when Tiffany Hartish is the teacher
to Kevin Hart's student.
Speaker 1 (28:48):
Yes, and you know how much fun they must have
had on the set of that, Oh my gosh. We
also have an animated called small Foot that start like
the voices Channing Tatum, James Corden, even Lebron James.
Speaker 7 (29:01):
We have searched the entire mountain train to find one
and that day has finally arrived.
Speaker 1 (29:07):
Oh my gosh, better to go reach into your memory.
Small Foot a Yetti stirs up his whole community when
he realizes there's something he didn't know existed, and that's
a human get it, small tables. Yeah. We also have
a horror movie. I won't say the name of it,
but you can use your imagination. I'll nickname it heck Fest.
Speaker 5 (29:28):
Same guy's been following us the entire night.
Speaker 6 (29:31):
Came here to be scared, right. I can't arrest people
for doing their job. Welcome to hell Fest.
Speaker 1 (29:39):
So there's a serial killer terrorizing a bunch of teenagers
in there at an amusement park, but it's a horror
themed amusement park. This kind of like this came for
get the formula out. We also have a drama and
it's another retelling of this story Little Women.
Speaker 8 (29:55):
Hi Amy March, Hi, Margaret mars I List March Mark
will be a very successful writer and do all the things.
Speaker 1 (30:04):
It's a modern retelling though, of the story of those
four sisters from childhood to women.
Speaker 3 (30:10):
We have another one of these comings.
Speaker 1 (30:11):
We do have like an Emma Stone, big name when
coming to.
Speaker 3 (30:15):
Night school and Little Women pg. Thirteen small Foot is
PG and Heck Fast is rateed R.
Speaker 5 (30:21):
Murphy same too, Family Friendly Box Office Review.
Speaker 2 (30:25):
So it's not just Friday, it's Grateful Friday, right, Jody.
Speaker 1 (30:27):
Yeah, I want to hear from you. What little things
are you grateful for this morning? Maybe they're big eight seven, seven, three,
one zero four ms J.
Speaker 2 (30:38):
So you can catch up on anything you missed or
even like if you missed. Some of the awesome grateful
Friday stories have been called in this morning on the Murphy,
Sam and Jody podcast. And of course today we'll also
do after the show and what are we gonna do that?
Speaker 3 (30:48):
Sam ho the show coming up a little bit later on,
but not necessarily right now.
Speaker 2 (30:54):
It would be after the show.
Speaker 1 (30:56):
Yes, okay, I want to revisit something we're wrapping up today.
We talked about helicopter parents this week and lawn more parents,
the new term for parents who are so overly involved
that they mow down problems before the kids ever even
have to deal with them deal with them. And of
course we don't ever, you don't ever know what's really
going on with the family, really should not judge, But
(31:18):
so we're wrapping this up. But Bailey, you had said
that helicopter siblings are a real thing too.
Speaker 11 (31:25):
So I'm an older sibling. I'm an older brother to
a little sister Natalie.
Speaker 1 (31:30):
We met that she came and brought you a birthday present,
and she's so cute yest of love there.
Speaker 11 (31:34):
She's amazing. She's way cooler than I am. And but
she just started college and I just finished college. So
I do have a lot of unique insight I can
pass down to her and stuff like that. I have
the ability to help her out with homework assignments and
oh yeah, I'm actually doing it. Well, Okay, well, here's
(31:55):
here's the story that I wanted to share. She had
an art project that she had to do. Okay, she
had to write a paper about a certain exhibit at
an art museum. Wow, she had a lot of work
to do outside of the actual college work. She had
to go you know, actually physically a lot of research,
get pay checks and stuff like that. So she asked
me if I could go to the museum take pictures
(32:17):
of the exhibit and she could then do the project.
So I did that. I figured that wasn't that wasn't overstepping.
Speaker 2 (32:26):
A little bit.
Speaker 1 (32:26):
I was an Actually, no, I don't think so it's
not I guess, but you're doing her a favor.
Speaker 11 (32:33):
Yeah, exactly, Okay, And I kind of thought about it
for a little bit, you know, since we were talking
about the helicopter helicopter siblings.
Speaker 1 (32:41):
Yeah, I felt like you were being helicopter, did you.
Speaker 9 (32:43):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (32:44):
I don't. I don't want to.
Speaker 11 (32:46):
I don't want to over extend my helpfulness, but I
do want to help her out.
Speaker 1 (32:50):
Well, then you have to just judge it like case
per case. I think part of learning and becoming an
adult in that college scene and setting is man all that, Yeah,
and doing it yourself, balancing at all. Yeah, And I wouldn't.
Speaker 11 (33:03):
I wouldn't want to give her a disadvantage by helping
her out too much.
Speaker 1 (33:08):
Right, how soon do you think she's going to call
you again for other I don't know. I don't know.
We're waiting.
Speaker 2 (33:14):
So how long did it take for you to complete
the paper.
Speaker 5 (33:20):
Coming up next with Murphy, Sam and Jody?
Speaker 3 (33:22):
Can I do my helicopter sibling story? You have one, Sam,
And it's not about me doing anything. It's about some
of my kids helping each other out.
Speaker 1 (33:33):
It's grateful. Friday. Feel free to let us know what
you are grateful for even the little things make a
big difference. Eight seven seven three one zero four MSJ.
Speaker 3 (33:42):
Just hearing Bailey talk about being a helicopter sibling.
Speaker 1 (33:45):
Well, he helped his sister out.
Speaker 3 (33:47):
Helping out his sister.
Speaker 1 (33:48):
I don't know that you were a helicopter. I'm not
sure about that yet.
Speaker 3 (33:52):
I have and this is kind of related to that.
But I have gotten some of my kids, the older kids,
mainly Sammy, to help me out in parenting. For stepping
in with Jackson.
Speaker 1 (34:04):
Okay, there have been times how old is Jackson?
Speaker 3 (34:06):
Jackson's fifteen, Sammy's twenty nine.
Speaker 1 (34:08):
Yeah, so he's been through dad.
Speaker 3 (34:12):
He there have been times where things have come up
with Jackson in school that I know from. Have you
know Sammy being much older that Sammy went through similar things? Sure,
And so as a parent, you can sit there and
talk and talk and talk and give your advice and
do all this.
Speaker 1 (34:27):
Stuff, but you don't know anything.
Speaker 3 (34:29):
I don't. So it's like, well, you know, I'm thinking
Sammy went through this, Why not I get And it's
not asking my other sib my, other children to step
in and parent for me, but it's like, you did this,
Can you call Jackson and talk to him about ex subjects.
Speaker 1 (34:43):
I don't think that's helicopter. I think that's brilliant. You
got to use whatever tools you can to help your kids,
and for whatever reason, maybe it'll be the first question
we can all ask God one day. But what is
the reason that when your children turn thirteen? Between the
time they're thirteen and what twenty, you lose all credibility? Yeah,
(35:04):
you don't know anything. And maybe it's a part of
the process of them as needing.
Speaker 2 (35:09):
Suppress separation and independently.
Speaker 1 (35:10):
Right, they need to push away from you. So you
don't know Jack, you know, And that's okay. I think
we all need to accept it. Right now, I've got
no credibility. One day I'll get mad credibility back, probably.
Speaker 3 (35:22):
And you do, because I've seen that from Sammy and
Will as they got older. And Sammy does know Jack,
his brother. But yeah, I've had Sammy talk to Jack
and then come back to me and say, Okay, how
did it go?
Speaker 2 (35:33):
What happened here? And Jack?
Speaker 3 (35:34):
Jack will tell Sammy things that he won't tell me.
Speaker 1 (35:37):
Nice. I like that.
Speaker 3 (35:38):
It does work. If you've got a sibling or a child,
if you want to say sibling, a child that's much
older than the one you're trying to work with might
be something you want to consider.
Speaker 1 (35:46):
Right absolutely for us, Well for me my cousin Canvas,
whose birthday is today, by the way, Happy birthday. She
is kind of the cool aunt that she has all
the credibility in the world.
Speaker 3 (35:59):
I think kind of a similar thing too. It's a
family member who knows the situation who can help out
better because they're not mom or dad exactly.
Speaker 5 (36:08):
Judy's Hollywood outsider.
Speaker 1 (36:09):
Guess who's getting married this weekend in her backyard in Hollywood.
Gwyneth Paltrow. Okay, she's been dating this producer for quite
some time. His name is Brad Falchuk. They first met
on the set of Glee long ago when he was
producing that show and she was on it as Holly Holiday.
Speaker 3 (36:27):
She sang, too Loven, think.
Speaker 1 (36:30):
You have to sing on Glee, don't you? You do
sing a lot, and she can sing. They are getting married,
and she's been planning it all year because he proposed
to her in January. It's going to be a lavish
ceremony for just fifty people in her backyard in her
Hampton's home. Reese Witherspoon spent on the list, Cameron Diaz
to name a few, even Robert Downey Junior, because hey,
(36:51):
he's Iron Man, she's Pepper Pott, they're besties.
Speaker 3 (36:54):
Are all the Avengers going to be there?
Speaker 1 (36:56):
Doubtful if it's only fifty people in attendance. Congrats to
Gwyn and if Paltrow getting married this weekend.
Speaker 5 (37:02):
Up to date boy Shody's Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 1 (37:07):
Check out our game day grub recipes at Murphy Salmonjody
dot com. You get it football food everything there from
like your chicken wings that you don't even fry. You
got this recipe for baked chicken wings.
Speaker 3 (37:18):
Tastes fried because they're so crispy.
Speaker 1 (37:19):
They're really good. There's a trick to get them crispy.
Is it like baking soda? Baking powder?
Speaker 3 (37:24):
It's one of those yeah, off the top of my head,
but you mix that in and it's stuff.
Speaker 5 (37:28):
Man.
Speaker 1 (37:28):
I made those ones and then I toss them in
like a taraioki sauce.
Speaker 3 (37:31):
That's thing too well. Any kind of glaze you want
to make with them.
Speaker 1 (37:34):
Yeah, you don't have to do buffalo nope. Okay. We
also added a new recipe. It's olive cheese bread. I know,
that sounds more baby shower than game day grub. But
it's delicious. It's French bread. You cut it lengthd wise.
You understand where we're going here, not really chop up
some olives, black and green, some green onions. You do
some mayo and some shredded cheeses like like monterey jackworks
(37:58):
and parmesan, and you mix all that up together and
you spread it on the bread. You bake it for
like twenty minutes or so until it's browning and bubbling.
Speaker 3 (38:07):
When you first said olive cheese bread, I thought it
was kind of like your pumpkin bread, like a full
recipe make with olives in it and cheese.
Speaker 1 (38:15):
No, it spread. This is a spread on top of
French bread and your bacon. And that's good, right, sound good.
It sounds like it's going to be perfect and it's
gonna get crumbs all over the place. But so what,
it's game day grub?
Speaker 3 (38:26):
How much mayo?
Speaker 1 (38:27):
Do you use? Half a cup? Okay?
Speaker 3 (38:31):
The exact recipe is online, yes, okay.
Speaker 1 (38:33):
Murphy Salmonjody dot com.
Speaker 3 (38:37):
The Disney World is changing up ticket prices.
Speaker 1 (38:39):
Again, and changing up is not a clever way to
say it's plumping out.
Speaker 3 (38:44):
No no, no, no, no before you Yeah, that's what
everybody thinks.
Speaker 1 (38:46):
Oh well, there's a lot of announcements about their prices.
It seems like.
Speaker 3 (38:50):
This one is starting in a couple of weeks October
the sixteenth. It's it's now going to be seasonal detainding
on when you go, that'll be the price you pay.
It won't just be one price all year long.
Speaker 1 (39:00):
I kind of like that, meaning though I'm paying a
premium during peak times like summer unfortunately.
Speaker 3 (39:06):
Yeah, but that's when everybody wants to go. So if
that's when you really want to go, they're going to
charge you more, whereas if you.
Speaker 1 (39:11):
Went like now. I kind of like the idea of
getting a lesser price ticket if I go now, because
it's nicer to go now.
Speaker 3 (39:18):
Anyway, they got the Mickey's Haunted whatever right now.
Speaker 1 (39:21):
Yeah, the scary not so scary Halloween.
Speaker 3 (39:24):
Wine festivals going on at Epcot right now. I know
this because Maddie's down there with her mom my daughter.
Speaker 1 (39:29):
Very cool. Is she bring you back stuff when she goes?
Speaker 9 (39:32):
Say?
Speaker 3 (39:32):
Should I bring me a magnet or a mug or
something like that.
Speaker 1 (39:37):
I don't think it'll matter the ticket prices next year
when the Star Wars portion opens. It so cool.
Speaker 3 (39:42):
And also to their multi day passes. Used to be
able to get one of those multi multi day deals
and they would give you up to two weeks to
use them. Well now it's going to be a shorter
time window, so like if you buy a five day pass,
they're going to give you like seven days to use it.
Speaker 1 (39:56):
They want you to come on, use this, don't care,
hold onto it.
Speaker 3 (39:59):
Yeah, Hey, we invite you to hang out with us
after the show for the after the show podcast as
we keep ongoing.
Speaker 1 (40:07):
Yeah, a little longer, and you can get that for
free anywhere you listen to a podcast and catch anything
you missed on the show all week two
