Speaker 1 (00:02):
All right, it is time to get started on Wednesday
already middle half. Yeah, we're halfway towards the big game
this weekend and lots of food and oh yeah, you know,
game big both commercials.
Speaker 2 (00:13):
Yeah, game Big rub is online for you on our
Facebook page and Murphy Samon Jody dot com. Later, I
will tell you how to make pizza dip.
Speaker 3 (00:20):
Oh is that the one? That one is?
Speaker 2 (00:21):
It's the one and it's so ridiculously easy. It's easier
than pizza and it's dip. So we'll do that for
you later Today. You got more commercials for us?
Speaker 3 (00:30):
Yeah, I do. And this is what I've been waiting
to see because we've had hints that Carrie Bradshaw is
back in a commercial from Sex and the City and
then the dude Jeff Bridges dude character is back, and
I was wondering, Okay, what different, what's the connection? It
turns out there on the same commercial for Stella Artois,
here's Carrie Bradshaw.
Speaker 1 (00:50):
Hello, good to see you again.
Speaker 4 (00:53):
Please Cosmopolitan Nope, tonight.
Speaker 5 (00:55):
I'll have a Stella artwa.
Speaker 1 (01:00):
I'm just happy to see her again. Makes me happy.
Speaker 3 (01:02):
Apparently Cosmo was her drink.
Speaker 1 (01:04):
Yeah, of course Okay, so everybody.
Speaker 3 (01:06):
Freaks out because she wants Estella, and then the dude
from The Big Lebowski walks in, Well night, huh why Russian?
Speaker 1 (01:12):
No, Garrett, give me a Stella Hard Coast.
Speaker 3 (01:17):
You know he's white. Russians is the dude's drink. And
so when he orders Estella, it's like, well.
Speaker 2 (01:22):
Okay, that's really funny, especially the way he ordered it.
But funnier if I would see it for the first
time on the Super Bowl.
Speaker 1 (01:29):
Oh I'm not.
Speaker 2 (01:29):
I'm glad you're you know, letting us know what to expect.
But isn't it weird all these years that we keep
getting the commercials ahead of time. I need some of
it saved for this.
Speaker 1 (01:40):
The reason it's not weird it is because it's like
anything else. We do a million things now during commercial breaks,
so there's a chance that you're not gonna see it.
I guess you're in the super Bowl, you know what
I mean, because.
Speaker 3 (01:48):
You're tweeting or whatever you're doing, or if you enjoyed it,
it's like, you know, as soon as the first thing
pops up on this this is gonna be funny. I'll
watched this one.
Speaker 2 (01:56):
Okay, more bang for the advertiser, buck, I got a.
Speaker 3 (01:59):
Chance apper and Backstreet Boys are doing the flaming hot doritos.
Speaker 1 (02:03):
Yeah, here we go, I wow.
Speaker 3 (02:13):
So yeah, Chance tries the chip and it's hot, so
he starts rapping, and then the Backstreet Boys come in
and they finished all of them, including chants dancing, one
of their signature moves.
Speaker 1 (02:23):
Haven't tried that in the plane hangar? Of course you
remember in the studio, nice, I do remember.
Speaker 5 (02:28):
Coming up with Murphy's Sam Jay.
Speaker 1 (02:30):
I'd love to hear from you.
Speaker 2 (02:31):
Your email answered on the way in the producer's mail bag,
everything from producer Bailey's new b F F and why
boys wear shorts in the winter. Okay, we're going there. Also,
your first Hollywood Outsider of the morning, Good Morning America
gets a new name, The Extra Show with Michael Strahan.
That's next. Judy's Hollywood Outsider saw this story floating around
(02:53):
this week, and I find it interesting and I'm out look.
I like the guy, Michael straighthand straight hand not at
the end.
Speaker 3 (03:00):
Straight hand.
Speaker 1 (03:01):
That sounds like something your grandmother would do, right, add
extra letters? Isn't that precious?
Speaker 6 (03:05):
Though?
Speaker 1 (03:06):
She was always so sweet when she did that.
Speaker 2 (03:07):
Nobody corrected my grandmother when she said something incorrectly, But boy,
you're fast to correct me. Anyway, that's fine. You know
Michael Strahan, he's so busy. I always enjoy his NFL commentary.
Actually I really do. I enjoy him. And he was
on Live with It was Kelly and Michael for a
short short and we know that they ended on not
(03:28):
such great terms. He even spoke about that the other
day quickly in an interview and said something like, you know,
what I learned from that experience is not everybody's gonna
like you. And we think he means Kelly. But anyway,
he's been working on Good Morning America. Moved over without
without her knowing the network, and Michael didn't let her know,
which rightly, so she should have been upset. And so
(03:49):
she did stand up for herself after that. And guess
what she's with Ryan Seacrest now, and that they're doing well.
They have maybe even more chemistry together. But anyway, the
show he's on on Good Morning America, it's called GMA Day.
It's kind of like the After show, and they they've
renamed it. They've I got to call it GMA Day anymore.
They're calling it straight Hand and Sarah and they're getting
(04:12):
new logos Michael Strahan and Sarah Haynes. So they're getting
a whole new logo. He'll new setup, you know, serious day.
I don't know about No, it can't be.
Speaker 3 (04:23):
Okay, I'll just figure because if they were using the names.
Speaker 2 (04:25):
No, it'll be right before Kelly. I want to say,
so good for him, and you know you're going to
see him this weekend.
Speaker 1 (04:30):
Hello, oh yeah, super Bowl.
Speaker 2 (04:33):
The last time we saw Henry Winkler unless you're watching
the show Barry, unless you're binging that show, is when
he won an Emmy for it recently. He was so excited.
Speaker 1 (04:42):
Can I just say skip?
Speaker 2 (04:43):
Brittenham said to me a long time ago, if you
stay at the table long enough, the chips come to you.
Speaker 5 (04:47):
And tonight I got to clear the table.
Speaker 2 (04:51):
It was so exciting. You were so excited for him
to be that excited.
Speaker 1 (04:54):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (04:54):
Did you know he's written twenty nine different books for children.
His final one is called Everybody Is Somebody, the most
recent one, and it's all about kids. It's all about
helping kids with dyslexia because he's had that and dealt
with it his whole Wow. He said, some people write backwards.
When you're reading, you miss words. It's crazy and you
doubt yourself. He doesn't want kids to do that, so
(05:15):
he's written funny stories that kids will enjoy and help
them understand what they're living and dealing with. Look for it.
It's called Everybody Is Somebody. It was released yesterday.
Speaker 4 (05:27):
Up to date with Jody's Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 3 (05:30):
Got your email answered in the producer's mail bag. On
the way next, What's up Chad Well?
Speaker 7 (05:34):
Jody asked why men try to tough it out and
wear shorts in extremely cold weather? We got some work
in theories from you.
Speaker 2 (05:44):
We love hearing from you. You know you can jump
into the conversation anytime. Call eight seven seven three one
zero four msj can text to that number. Two the
Producer's mail bag. I hit us up on Facebook or Instagram.
In the mail bag, what do we have today?
Speaker 7 (05:57):
Producer Chad Well, Jody you had asked why do boys
wear shorts in cold weather?
Speaker 5 (06:02):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (06:03):
I don't have boys, and I've got friends who are
moms who have boys and it drives them crazy.
Speaker 3 (06:08):
And Sam, oh, yeah, I love to show off my legs.
Speaker 1 (06:13):
Okay, So how can you stand it?
Speaker 2 (06:14):
And why do boys always, you know, fight to wear
shorts in cold weather? And I mean fight for it.
Speaker 3 (06:19):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (06:19):
And if you want to hear more on that, you
can listen to the after the show podcast. We did
one on it. Yeah, here's one from Teresa. She says,
because they're animals, they use their body hair to keep warm.
Speaker 2 (06:31):
Just kidding, Yeah, okay, yeah, different, it's a it's a
definitely a body temperature thing.
Speaker 3 (06:38):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (06:38):
Like the the boys that I see at boys and
men who wear shorts in the winter are always running
hot no matter what.
Speaker 1 (06:45):
Yeah, we run hot, generally hot. Yeah, okay, except me,
I'm not a shorts guy in the winter.
Speaker 2 (06:51):
Yeah, Murphy's always different.
Speaker 7 (06:56):
Same the same for me. I am actually wearing mittens
right now here.
Speaker 2 (06:59):
In the sweet Chad. And you're very hairy.
Speaker 1 (07:04):
Too, It's true.
Speaker 2 (07:06):
It's a compliment.
Speaker 1 (07:07):
He's very mad. Ask you animal?
Speaker 7 (07:09):
Okay, anyway, Loretta says, my grandson who's eight, wear shorts
all the time. He says he doesn't like the way
it feels on his legs. Oh, and Jerry popped in.
Speaker 1 (07:17):
She says.
Speaker 7 (07:18):
My fourteen year old says the same.
Speaker 2 (07:20):
Okay, it doesn't like the way it feels on the legs.
Speaker 1 (07:22):
Okay, maybe it's that easy.
Speaker 3 (07:24):
You know. One time when Parker was going, my thirteen
year old was at the boarding school and I went
to pick him up. It was twenty four degrees outside.
All the kids from his dorm were coming from the cafeteria.
Everybody's bundled up. Who's got shorts and flip flops on?
Speaker 2 (07:37):
And did that hurt you? When you're like, inside you
it even miss me as much.
Speaker 3 (07:41):
As much as I like to wear shorts, even when
seeing that, it's like.
Speaker 1 (07:44):
Really, dude, it's twenty four degrees You're going to freeze
your toes off doing that.
Speaker 2 (07:49):
Look whenever the girls, our girls won't wear like a jacket,
and it just you have to eventually go after you've
said it a couple of times and you've overly suggested,
you know, after a while, they're a certain age you're
kind of like, okay, hopefully you know well.
Speaker 1 (08:04):
And at some point, you know, and not all parts
of the country get this, but like this most recent
cold blast thing you're talking about, if your skin's even
exposed for you know, five minutes, and there's an early
chance of some frostbite, so at some point it becomes
a very real thing, you know what I mean, not
about comfort.
Speaker 2 (08:19):
When it's kind of driving the mom is crazy. Yeah,
trying to understand. Look, thank you Teresa, Loretta and Jerry.
We love hearing from you. You can jump in anytime
on Facebook or Instagram.
Speaker 5 (08:30):
Yeah, Sam has music News.
Speaker 3 (08:31):
I got to move Brittany and Jalo over because we
have another big Vegas residency coming.
Speaker 5 (08:38):
Sam's got music news.
Speaker 3 (08:39):
Got another big Vegas residency to announce. And this one
has been rumored for about a year now, but it's
now official.
Speaker 1 (08:45):
Wait is it a tel No? Oh no, no, no no.
Speaker 3 (08:48):
There is a rumor that she's got a new album
coming out this year though Christina Aguilera.
Speaker 2 (08:54):
Okay, I can see her doing a Vegas show.
Speaker 3 (08:57):
Yeah. Now. She posted her vague guest dates on her website.
Somebody posted him earlier this week accidentally, and they yanked
him down because the official announcement wasn't made yet. Sure,
but it's going to be experience, you know, Extena experience.
It's going to start May thirty first and run through
different dates. It's about two dozen dates that were going
to run through the end of the year.
Speaker 1 (09:17):
When you think about how many people go to Vegas
every year, there's probably enough room for more than just
a handful of shows.
Speaker 2 (09:22):
I feel you. You're right, you don't have to.
Speaker 1 (09:24):
Go see carrat Top necessarily poor.
Speaker 2 (09:27):
Yeah, it's always a seat available.
Speaker 3 (09:31):
This weekend for the super Bowl, there is a pre
Super Bowl concert slash tailgate. The NFL is throwing the
day of the game, and Tim McGraw is going to
be performing He Makes You Cry, and this song here,
Thought About You is the song the tailgate's going on
before the game, and then at some point during the pregame,
(09:51):
which is like four or five hours, they're going to
cut over to him performing this song live. So have
your tissues handy. When did you see that alanis More
is now coming to Broadway?
Speaker 1 (10:02):
Didn't wait her story?
Speaker 3 (10:04):
Well, it's a Broadway show loosely based on her music.
It's not a biography or anything like that, but it's
all based on Jagged Little Pill.
Speaker 2 (10:11):
Well, Jagged a Little Pill is her biography though.
Speaker 3 (10:13):
Yeah, and Wen Diablo Cody is the one who wrote
the play and she's an Oscar winner for some of
our screenwriting. And one of the people who directed Waitress
is actually going to be directing this as well. So
they got some big names here.
Speaker 2 (10:27):
That will be a good, big show.
Speaker 3 (10:28):
Don't know the exact start date, but it is going
to beat later on this year.
Speaker 2 (10:31):
Murphy, Sam and Jody music news coming up next, guys,
we'll let you know whether Phoebe has forgiven me or
not our youngest daughter. I'm Murphy four one. While opening
that letter that came addressed to her or that personal thing, guys,
remember the other day, I said a special thank you
and shout out to someone named Sharon who left a
gift here with a card, and I was told, hey, Jody,
(10:54):
somebody brought you something. So I opened up the card
and opened up the gift, and then I realized it
was dropped off for Jody to give to Phoebe, our
daughter Phoebe. So it's really a card for her that
I accidentally opened.
Speaker 1 (11:08):
Yeah, so it was actually made out to our daughter Phoebe.
The cardboy card.
Speaker 2 (11:12):
Was but on the outside of the bag it said,
you know, to Jody for Phoebe. And I happened to
miss that present showed up again.
Speaker 1 (11:21):
It's a big package the radio station. It's got to
be for me.
Speaker 2 (11:24):
It ended up being this beautiful handwritten letter from Sharon
who dropped off for hearing about Phoebe and her love
of old tea sets and things like that. Because you
bring Phoebe to an estate, Selle, we're leaving there with
at least a tea cup. It's what she kind of collects,
and it's unusual for a girl who's about to turn fourteen.
And so Sharon had this really cool tea cup little
(11:47):
set with the teapot on top and the cup on
the bottom, and it said London and it's really cool.
I gave it to her the other night.
Speaker 1 (11:53):
Number one.
Speaker 2 (11:54):
I want you to know she totally forgave me for
opening her card because I told her the story. I'm like, look,
I didn't mean to open it. It's addressed to you.
She was totally good with that. She was also distracted
with what's in the bag, what's in the back? So
and remember I told you I can't remember the name
of this sort of set.
Speaker 1 (12:11):
Yeah, are you ready for what it's really called? Tea
for one?
Speaker 2 (12:15):
I think I think it's just called tea for one.
Speaker 1 (12:18):
That's all I can.
Speaker 3 (12:18):
Find googling it. And I saw that too, and it
just didn't sound like I think that's.
Speaker 1 (12:22):
What it's called.
Speaker 2 (12:23):
It's it's the no duh name for it, because that's
what it is. The pot's on top, the cups on
the bottom.
Speaker 1 (12:27):
Tea for one for loaners, tea for one anyway. It's
just a great concept, you know. The good news here.
It's not like for one.
Speaker 2 (12:38):
Yeah, no, Wonder really spoke to you anyway. She loves it, Sharon,
and you need to know this. She washed it out
right away and used it. Oh she had tea for
one last night. So thank you sharing so so sweet
and I didn't get in trouble for opening her thing.
Speaker 5 (12:59):
Yay com Hollywood.
Speaker 2 (13:02):
So we'll tell you about why Marine five canceled their
pre Super Bowl press conference yesterday.
Speaker 8 (13:11):
Jody's Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 2 (13:13):
So right now, armed security guards are going to be
protecting the entire Empire cast the show Empire while they
film and continue to shoot in Chicago following this horrible
Jesse Smollett attack that happened Monday night. Jesse is currently
recovering in the hospital, and of course he's got its
national attention, this horrible hate crime, this attack that happened
(13:35):
to him on Monday night.
Speaker 3 (13:37):
So the attack was on him. So why are they
protecting the cast? They think they could be after other
cast members.
Speaker 2 (13:42):
Yes, they do. They feel like maybe it wasn't just
a specific Jesse target. Lee Daniels is the creator of
the show Empire, and his statement is like, nobody deserves this,
and it you know, it was a it was a brutal,
horrible thing, and he definitely was targeted. And he says,
you're better than that. We're better than that. In America
is better than that. That's the statement. And Fox released
(14:02):
a statement, We're deeply sad, in an outrage to learn
about this. A member of our Empire family viciously attacked.
We send our love and they're working, they say, we're
working with law enforcement to bring the perpetrators to justice.
Two men approached and attacked him. It's just it's really
really a horrible story. But they're going to continue, That's
what I'm saying. They're gonna continue to do the work.
(14:25):
So they've got armed security guards. Wow, it's really horrible.
Moving on to something yesterday that happened. Did you hear
about the Maroon five pre Super Bowl press conference that
was canceled?
Speaker 1 (14:40):
Okay, so it's.
Speaker 2 (14:40):
Normal for the halftime performer to meet with the media
the week of to promote the event, like you remember
Katie Perry. Yeah, we're gonna have picks. We're gonna have that,
just a promotion sort of thing and answer on questions.
Speaker 3 (14:50):
I saw on Twitter a lot of folks were making
a big deal because the NFL put a statement out
about Maroon five, and I was like, what.
Speaker 1 (14:55):
Happened, right, Well, this is what happened.
Speaker 2 (14:57):
They canceled the press conference rather than you know, let
it bec political, let it become about issues instead of
their performance. So they released a statement the band the
halftime show is about music and the artists will let
their show do the talking. We're gonna let our show
do the talking, and we're gonna prepare for the stage
this Sunday. And they also made a half million dollar
donation Maroon five to the Big Brothers Big Sisters of
(15:19):
America Nice and Travis Scott, who is set to join
them on stage, made a half million dollar donation to
Dream Court.
Speaker 3 (15:25):
Out That was part of his deal with the NFL.
If you want me on, then you're going to make
a donation too, right, So they made a donation and
he made a donation.
Speaker 2 (15:32):
So that's a little bit of what happened yesterday. Coming
up in your next Hollywood. Outside of this morning around
seven fifty five, we have got to talk about James
Ingram Big Loss up to date.
Speaker 4 (15:43):
With Shoney's Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 3 (15:47):

Coming up today after the show, join us for the
after the show podcast wherever you get podcasts. You can
even just google Murphy, Sam and Jody podcast and you'll
get the full show. But the after the show, we're
gonna we're gonna really dig in and visit about this heat.
I got into sort of a heated discussion with our
girls the other night, our teenagers. I was suggesting that
(16:35):
one of them leave their friend a voicemail instead of
just call and hang up and didn't answer because I mean,
just calling is different too. She didn't want to call her.
She gets funny they communicate differently.
Speaker 3 (16:47):
There's so many times just like Jack, just call mom
or Jack just call Why they don't I just texted call.
Speaker 2 (16:56):
It's not in their DNA And that's you know, we
it isn't ours.
Speaker 1 (17:00):
We question that.
Speaker 2 (17:01):
Yeah, but that's not the first thing that they think
of when it comes to communicating. And so, and after
she hung up the phone, I said, you should have
left her a voicemail. Call back and leave a voicemail.
Oh my gosh. First of all, it looked at me
like I had a third eyeball. Both of them. They
were both, you know, both of the girls agreeing that
not only am I not doing that, but she would
(17:23):
never my friend would never listen to a voicemail and
she would find it odd that I did that. So
I'm thinking, okay, wow, you know, we hadn't talked about
It's kind of like that thing we don't it's just happening.
We don't talk about it. That voicemail is not what
it used to be.
Speaker 3 (17:37):
No, And the funny thing is, I thought voicemail was
so cool because I had at one point in time,
back in the day, had the cassette you know, the
answering machine.
Speaker 1 (17:46):
Oh yeah yeah, And when it.
Speaker 3 (17:48):
Moved up to voicemail, it's like, wow, I don't have
to and turn the tape over.
Speaker 2 (17:53):
It Well, you had to record something, but it was
just there in your phone. So anyway, it's so different.
And then we got into a discussion about what's more personal.
Like I'm saying you could leave a message and your
voice is personal as opposed to a text. But they
were like, no, no, no, texting can be personal.
Speaker 1 (18:07):
So let's go.
Speaker 2 (18:09):
Let's go there today in the after the Show podcast. Okay,
so join us for.
Speaker 5 (18:13):
That coming up next with Murphy's Sam and Jody.
Speaker 3 (18:17):
You know, I'm going to be a grandfather in about.
Speaker 2 (18:19):
A month, so crazy, Sam, Paula, you got a.
Speaker 3 (18:21):
Hold of the last the latest Sonic Graham and I
think Jody, with a little help, maybe we can figure
out what sex.
Speaker 1 (18:26):
Is going to be big.
Speaker 2 (18:29):
Game Day grub recipes are online for you now and
on our Facebook page. You know, game day food. I'm
coming to next hour. We'll give you not just pizza,
but pizza dip. Okay, go get them at Murphy Samonjody
dot com.
Speaker 1 (18:40):
You know, we have them.
Speaker 3 (18:41):
We haven't talked about this in a while, but about
a month out from being a grandfather, I know, are
you mother, grandpa? I still don't have a name yet.
Speaker 2 (18:49):
I thought you were gonna let let me wait and let.
Speaker 3 (18:51):
The Yeah, that's what I'm saying. I still don't have
a name. Still loving sam pau my oldest son. Sammy
and his wife Melissa are going to be having a
baby at the end of February. You know obviously, ever,
take don't have a name yet. By the way, they
finished their nursery. Oh not the baby.
Speaker 1 (19:06):
They know the neutral color thing because they're not finding
out what the baby is, right.
Speaker 3 (19:09):
It's kind of neutral. And their theme is bees bumblebees.
Oh that's they've got the pillows and they went to
pottery place and painted some little you know, succulent planters. Planters, yeah,
flower pots.
Speaker 1 (19:24):
The b theme is really sweet. Do you know that
when Jodie and I bought the house that we moved
into when Taylor, which was praying with Taylor, the bedroom,
one of the bedrooms have been completely painted custom with
you know, sort of an animal safari scene, and that
would be the kind of thing that usually you would think, Wow,
that's just one person's taste. And so when we're redoing
the room, we kept we did keep the bumble bee
(19:45):
out of all that. We painted everything else, but we
left that bee there. And then both girls loved seeing
that in the nursery.
Speaker 2 (19:50):
The whole quiet ness. Green was the name of the colors,
the neutral color we chose. But that be when you
said bee, Murphy and I had.
Speaker 1 (19:56):
A little yeah.
Speaker 3 (19:57):
We went a little.
Speaker 1 (20:00):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (20:00):
So they have be everything, and from what it looks
like from the videos I've seen, I haven't been over
there to look at it. The nursery is all completely
ready to go. The only thing it needs is a baby.
Speaker 2 (20:09):
I'm so sweet, Oh my gosh, damn, because what's this
about a sonogram?
Speaker 3 (20:13):
Well, they got a you know, obviously you go get
sonograms every couple weeks. I got a sonogram, the latest sonogram. Melissa,
his wife, send it to me. And you know how,
they're not trying to find out whether it's a boy
or girl ahead of time. But I think with maybe
a little help, we can figure it out what it's
going to be.
Speaker 1 (20:28):
They don't want to know.
Speaker 2 (20:29):
I don't want to figure it out, but I want
to see it.
Speaker 1 (20:31):
You're going to use your print end PhD to figure
this one out.
Speaker 3 (20:33):
Say yeah, yeah, yeah, I'll share it with you.
Speaker 2 (20:35):
Coming up next, our Sam is about a month away
from being a first time grand a father. We can
have a little shower for you, the Sam Paul baby Shower.
Speaker 3 (20:46):
Yeah, you want to mean to be called Sam Paul.
Speaker 1 (20:48):
But I'm not saying that's cute.
Speaker 3 (20:49):
I'm not picking a name. I want the kids or
the baby to decide what I'm going to be. I
don't want to Maybe you could be grand Sam.
Speaker 1 (20:57):
Grand Sam. It sounds like a breakfast at Denny's, it does. Yeah,
maybe maybe you shouldn't go for that one. So the
baby is due.
Speaker 3 (21:06):
In a month at the end of February.
Speaker 2 (21:09):
Yeah wow, So okay, you got a sonogram. They're not
trying to find out, but so they can't tell from
the sonogram. Yeah, and you think, you know.
Speaker 3 (21:18):
Well, looking at it, I was kind of thinking up
top there there was something I thought that might, you know,
stick out at you.
Speaker 2 (21:26):
You know, I've had I've got all kinds of sonogram
pictures and I'm gonna be honest with you. I'm not
saying a thing there.
Speaker 1 (21:33):
Yeah, well, you know it's twenty nineteen. Don't you think
these pictures could be a little more clear? They can
get those three D or four D ones.
Speaker 3 (21:41):
Now you do have those freaky the thing that I thought,
might you know, tell me what it is on the
on the sonogram. I was wrong because I when I
couldn't figure out anything, I asked Melissa.
Speaker 1 (21:51):
I was like, what's what here?
Speaker 3 (21:53):
I mean, I don't mean to sound rude, but it's like,
I can't make heads or tails out of this now. Literally,
So I go, I get the thing that's and she
marked everything with arrows. I I lips double chin.
Speaker 1 (22:06):
So they are finding out what the baby is, or
they're not.
Speaker 3 (22:09):
They're not.
Speaker 2 (22:10):
They're not finding out the sex and the baby. They're
still looking at the baby on the sonogram to.
Speaker 3 (22:13):
Make sure everything's okay. Right.
Speaker 1 (22:15):
Well, but I mean, I understand that. But if you've
been given the picture of the sonogram, then obviously you've
been big. You've been given the one that doesn't reveal that, right,
if it's being kept a secret, I thought I could
figure it out, but yeah, it doesn't reveal.
Speaker 2 (22:25):
It is not a puzzle, it's not a game. It's
not a Fortnite game.
Speaker 1 (22:29):
Here's are my years of doctors. You know what the
difference is between an ultrasun and a sonogram. That's not
a joke. I know it sounds like, but it's it's
not Murphy.
Speaker 3 (22:39):
What's the difference.
Speaker 1 (22:40):
But I always confused. I mean both of them and
there it's a subtle difference. The ultrasound is the procedure.
The sonogram is the actual picture. So you can go
get a sonogram, but the sonogram is actually the result
of the ultrasound. This is what Yeah, yeah, can you
ask mister Murphy to leave the room please? This started
(23:01):
out is fun.
Speaker 2 (23:03):
Hey, congrats Sam.
Speaker 1 (23:04):
Congrats on my baby whatever it is grim something.
Speaker 5 (23:08):
Yeah, coming up next with Murphy Salmon jokey.
Speaker 2 (23:11):
I want to do something fun coming up, and I'm
planning dinner. If you could have breakfast for dinner tonight
and you can what is on your plate, let's do
that next. If you can have breakfast for dinner, which
you can, we do it pretty often a well, at
least once a month at our house. We do breakfast
at night.
Speaker 3 (23:29):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (23:29):
It's usually born out of I don't want to go
to the store. I don't have anything. I'm sorry, I
don't have any chicken. I don't have stuff to make chili. Sorry, kids.
Speaker 3 (23:36):
Yeah, I thought that was my trick.
Speaker 2 (23:38):
No, it's it's because it's what you've got, Like you
got You'll have biscuits, you'll have bacon, You'll have to
have to make pancakes. You certainly have eggs. We always
have eggs. So I was like, oh, guess what we're
having breakfast tonight? Yeah, plan this all day, wink wink,
But I am planning it. So if you can have
breakfast for dinner, what's on your plate coaling around the table?
Speaker 3 (23:55):
You usually want to do it for the kids. It's
just the basics. Bacon and eggs or sausage and eggs. Yeah,
toast or bagel or some something like that.
Speaker 1 (24:02):
Yeah, toast is so easy. And I threw some grits
on there. It's just the basics, though, Murphy.
Speaker 2 (24:06):
You have any requests because this is at our house,
meaning you know, you get to go first in line
if you want.
Speaker 1 (24:11):
What's funnier, and Sam saying that is the truth, because
you could get as fancy as you want to. I mean,
they are a bazillion different, elegant kind of breakfast recipes.
But even like when I'm traveling, I can look at
the menu and they've got all these fancy dishes, and
then I just wound up going with the all American breakfast. Yeah,
because just give me some bacon and eggs and some toast,
maybe a little oatmeal on the side, because I like
that too. That made my healthy rationalization.
Speaker 2 (24:34):
Maybe one of the best comfort foods ever. And I
love it, especially when the weather is freakishly cold. I
love it so tonight I'm thinking bacon, eggs for you
and me, you know, wheat toast, Murphy, and then the
girls are gonna want pancakes. It'll be pancakes on the
side too.
Speaker 3 (24:49):
Well, how do your kids are because whenever I say,
you know, we're just gonna have breakfast for dinner tonight,
they go nuts.
Speaker 1 (24:54):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (24:55):
It's like, yeah, it is a comfort food producer, Chad.
Speaker 7 (24:59):
Yeah, I would be remissed if I didn't point this out.
But you guys have heard the term brinner before, right, No, No,
breakfast at dinner?
Speaker 3 (25:07):
We shipped that word, didn't No, Wow, I didn't know
that different than brunch, right Yeah?
Speaker 1 (25:12):
Yeah, yeah, it's very very different.
Speaker 2 (25:15):
I think that we all have that, maybe we all
have that family connection to it.
Speaker 1 (25:20):
You know. For me, that's why the smell of that
gets you. I mean, I think it's reason to smell
a coffee does the same thing. And especially on like
super super cold nights, you got all this record cold
blowing through. You can almost eat breakfast for three meals
m teach meal of today.
Speaker 2 (25:32):
So we're doing that tonight, and we know we'll put
this on our Facebook page. If you are having breakfast
for dinner tonight, what's on your plate? Let us know
on our Facebook page or Instagram.
Speaker 5 (25:42):
Coming up next with Murphy's Sam and.
Speaker 2 (25:44):
Jody, Jump in anytime eight seven to seven three one
zero four ms J. Greg, you are next. He wants
to comment on Bailey's new newly adopted best friend dog.
Give us a call anytime and join the conversation. We'd
like to chat with you. Eight seven seven three one
zero four m s J.
Speaker 1 (26:03):
What's up?
Speaker 9 (26:04):
Greg?
Speaker 6 (26:05):
I just, uh, you talked about your fostering of the
animals and everything. Yes, I think that I think that
is the most awesome thing to do. We we raised
shelters for years and to see somebody get a new
puppy and yeah, and to be able to you know,
raise good dogs. But then we had a situation where
(26:25):
reasons beyond our control, we ended up with eleven kittens
on a mama cat. Wow, And so we decided to
foster them. Okay, so we had him in I had
a building outside and we had him in a in
one room.
Speaker 1 (26:41):
So you were in there.
Speaker 6 (26:42):
You had like twelve cats going everywhere. Care of them. Yeah,
we took care of him and we uh we found
homes for for every one of them, and we got
one of them at home now. And he's just the
greatest thing. So fostering is a really, really, really great
thing to do. And I just want to come in
you on that. I think that's awesome.
Speaker 2 (27:00):
Thank you for saying that. I will tell you that
it was about ten years ago that a friend of
mine I knew she was involved in rescue, and as
she and I got closer and I went to the
shelter with her, and I was overwhelmed with, oh my gosh,
what can I do, because I certainly can't take every
dog home. She said, she said three little words to
(27:20):
me that changed my life. She said, you can foster.
And so, of course, that same day I came home
with my first foster dog and I said, hey, Murph,
Guess what, babe.
Speaker 3 (27:29):
There's this thing called fostering.
Speaker 2 (27:31):
Yeah, and I will tell you that it has its challenges,
but it's also I'm saying it's selfish, but we enjoy
it as a family. We enjoy getting to know dogs,
we do love them all, and we enjoy finding them
great families too, So it's lovely, right.
Speaker 6 (27:47):
And I was kind of the same way Murphy. I
came home from work and my daughter was like, guess
what we got dad?
Speaker 1 (27:55):
Yea, yeah exactly.
Speaker 6 (27:58):
I just think that's a great thing. I appreciate you
doing that. Love love y'all. Show y'all have a great
day at stay warm.
Speaker 1 (28:04):
Well, thanks Gregor, we'll try colder's weather you're blowing through.
You know what, when Greg said that, just it made
me think of your mom there for a minute, Jody,
because it seemed like she was managing about twelve guys,
and when she lost her they just started showing up.
Speaker 2 (28:19):
Remember she only has two now watch some shrim three
she only has three cats.
Speaker 3 (28:25):
It seemed like a dozen.
Speaker 2 (28:27):
Call us anytime eight seven seven, three one zero four
m s.
Speaker 5 (28:31):
J coming out, Jody.
Speaker 2 (28:33):
You're Hollywood and we are going to celebrate the life
of James Ingram a little bit. And also what is
this Pete Davidson movie that Pete Davidson is going to
star in.
Speaker 8 (28:44):
Jody's Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 2 (28:46):
It was announced yesterday and it hurt me that R
and B singer James Ingram has passed away.
Speaker 3 (28:57):
Sixty six.
Speaker 2 (28:57):
It was only sixty six years old. He had been
battling brain cancer. Oh okay, and I guess kind of
quietly because I didn't realize he was sick. I will
tell you that we crank some James Ingram at our
house sometimes, especially one hundred ways. Murphy will play that
like I'll be in one part of the house and
back the other day when I was tidying up, cleaning up.
He just cranks it for me. Such a talented person. Great,
(29:21):
and that's just what That was my favorite James Ingram
one hundred ways. I just loved it. He worked a
lot with Quincy Jones. He was a Grammy winner. He
was one of the singers towards the end and We
Are the World one of the felty right before Ray Charles.
He and Ray Charles kind of went back and forth
with the at the end of We Are the World,
taking you way back, so very sad loss for the
(29:44):
music world. Moving on in the Hollywood Outsider here, you
know who Pete Davidson is, And if you don't, you
knew who he was when he started dating Ariana Grande
and shared a lot about it on SNL.
Speaker 5 (29:56):
You got engaged to a.
Speaker 10 (30:00):
I got a game and no one could believe it,
and I can't believe it, And yeah, I get it.
She's the number one pop star in the world. And
I'm that guy from sn OL that everyone thinks he
is in desperate need of more blood.
Speaker 2 (30:15):
Okay, so he is really funny. I can't say that
I've watched him very much as a comedian. I didn't
know I knew of him. But now he's the guy
who dated Arianna in a whirlwind romance. They were gonna
they were together for two weeks when they one to
get married, and now they're you know, splitsville. Don't even
speak and the world's been kind of worried about him.
Where the deal is. He's going to star now in
(30:37):
a semi autobiographical comedy put together and directed by Judd
Apatow or Apatow, however you say it.
Speaker 10 (30:44):
So.
Speaker 2 (30:47):
Semi autobiographical means there will be a pop star, at
least towards the end.
Speaker 1 (30:50):
Of this movie.
Speaker 3 (30:51):
I wonder why if.
Speaker 2 (30:53):
You are interested in this story or want to know more,
and it's gonna be funny, But to me, his story
is also sad.
Speaker 1 (30:59):
I want to say it's in his father die.
Speaker 2 (31:00):
His father died in nine to eleven and nine to
eleven in one of the towers, so there's a lot
to his story to be prepared for that. I believe
they're going to be shooting and starting casting and all
that really really soon.
Speaker 3 (31:12):
I guess he's got the part of Pete Davidson Lockdown.
Speaker 2 (31:14):
Huh he's starring in it. Yeah, all right, coming up
in your next Hollywood Outside of this morning around eight thirty,
why Maroon five canceled their pre Super Bowl press conference yesterday?
Speaker 4 (31:26):
Up to date with Shooty's Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 2 (31:30):
Big Game day grub recipes, We've got a ton of them,
new ones this year, and then like a link to
all the years we've done this leading up to the
Super Bowl, all the I don't know football food that
you love wings Sam's Sear does not Carnitas. We've got
my chili recipe there and I suggest serving it with
a big chili bar. You can do potatoes, you can
(31:52):
do free do's with it, and just that's an easy way.
Cook that thing slow all day and then everybody gets
to your house, they make their own chili.
Speaker 3 (31:58):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (31:58):
Bowl fantastics about the Nor spinach dip? Is it on
that one?
Speaker 5 (32:02):
No?
Speaker 1 (32:02):
I mean I know that's because you can get it
from Nor.
Speaker 3 (32:06):
What's the recipe there?
Speaker 1 (32:07):
But that's I love that spinach. I don't know why
I'm craving that today because remember this sparked the whole
discussion before the holidays about you know, cold dips versus
hot dips.
Speaker 3 (32:15):
Yeaheah.
Speaker 2 (32:15):
Remember it's a cold spinach dip, but it's the No recipe.
Speaker 1 (32:18):
I would love that even as cold as the weather.
Speaker 2 (32:20):
It is spinach, sour cream and mayo. That's what's matt.
Speaker 4 (32:24):
No.
Speaker 1 (32:24):
But today what I got up there the instant pot
is a hot spinach No excellent.
Speaker 2 (32:28):
I want to highlight something that we love that I
highly recommend if you don't want to do something difficult.
My pizza dip recipe.
Speaker 1 (32:36):
Oh yeah, I love that one too.
Speaker 2 (32:37):
Oh my gosh, cream cheese, Italian seasonings, parmesan, mozzarella, and
pizza sauce that's all it is. You layer it and
you bake that sucker. Oh my gosh, serve it with
like crusty French bread or thick heavy crackers. Yeah, so
Italian whatever spiced flavored.
Speaker 1 (32:56):
Crackers breadsticks would be good too.
Speaker 2 (32:58):
Thank you. I knew you'd add the better.
Speaker 1 (33:00):
Okay, that's one of those dips that goes really fast too.
You know, it's funny.
Speaker 2 (33:04):
There's always somebody who's gonna say it tastes just like.
Speaker 1 (33:06):
Pizza, because it does.
Speaker 2 (33:10):
Check out Dody's Pizza Dip, one of our big Game
Day grub recipes for you at Murphy Salmon Jody dot
com and on the Facebook page Super Bowl Sunday this Sunday.
And I have never I actually think that I would
enjoy betting on a game, like really, why not?
Speaker 1 (33:31):
Partly petition? Wait wait, wait waiting. When you say that,
you're not talking about like the bookie type. You're talking
about where everybody just casually does the cards and that I.
Speaker 2 (33:39):
Don't know, does it matter what kind.
Speaker 1 (33:43):
Because it's not legal in all jurisdictions.
Speaker 2 (33:45):
Yeah, well, if somebody can gonna come cuff me like
I'm just saying, it happens, there's something way over something
like Americans, if they're going to bet on anything all
year long.
Speaker 1 (33:58):
This is it.
Speaker 6 (33:58):
Why.
Speaker 1 (33:59):
Here's the thing. If you do you do that and
somebody comes and cuffs you, I'll just explain. Look, it
was her first year, had no idea, what she never before?
Speaker 2 (34:06):
Okay whatever. People bet on stuff. They bet on everything
from the coin toss.
Speaker 3 (34:10):
Oh yeah, how long are the national anthem is going
to be?
Speaker 1 (34:13):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (34:13):
Really, yeah, they'll bet on that one being over three minutes,
under three minutes.
Speaker 2 (34:16):
It's fast, best everything to me?
Speaker 1 (34:19):
Yeah, what about you, Chad?
Speaker 2 (34:20):
You are the football person in this room now, producer Chad.
You know everything about the.
Speaker 7 (34:25):
Game, aside from personal wagers that you would make like
with your friends and whatnot. There's a few key things
that you can vote on. The points spread, you know,
are they going to win by a certain amount of points?
Speaker 1 (34:38):
Right like that?
Speaker 7 (34:38):
And then there's also the total amount of points. Is
it going to be over or under?
Speaker 3 (34:43):
Yeah, that's called the over under?
Speaker 1 (34:45):
Yep, oh okay, well, like they'll throw.
Speaker 3 (34:47):
Out the over under for the game is forty. That
means all total both teams will score over forty points
or under. Huh, depending on how you're going to bet
on that.
Speaker 1 (34:55):
Okay, that's kind of cool.
Speaker 3 (34:56):
But they've got who's going to get the first penalty?
I've seen this, who's gonna get the first penal? The
first touchdown is going to be? Yeah, all you can
bet on basically anything.
Speaker 7 (35:05):
Last year's you know, will the super Bowl go into overtime?
So that one probably paid out a lot. You bet
that the super Bowl is going to go into overtime?
Very unlikely.
Speaker 3 (35:14):
I remember if it goes into overtime this year, Buffalo
Wild Wings is kicking in wings for everybody.
Speaker 1 (35:19):
Excellent. You don't have to wager on that right and win. Yeah,
so you know what I mean. But the thing is,
it's funny. People will do that for anything. I'm sure
there's some Tom Brady kinds of bets out there too,
you know his last super Bowl blah blah blah blah.
I mean, there's just it's everything.
Speaker 2 (35:36):
Well, what I'm saying is it's just interesting to me.
I'm not a betting type of person, but for something
this like this, I would just for fun.
Speaker 1 (35:45):
Well, that's why people do the little you know, what
do you call that, sam or the boards at the
pool holes. Yeah, the unofficial kind of stuff like that.
Because you know, somebody takes a cut is not always legal,
you know.
Speaker 5 (35:58):
Coming out.
Speaker 2 (36:01):
Tell you why Maroon five canceled their pre super Bowl
press conference yesterday.
Speaker 8 (36:07):
Jody's Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 2 (36:09):
So Maroon five said to be our super Bowl halftime
performers on Sunday. They canceled their pre super Bowl press
conference yesterday. So a rep for the band released a statement,
the halftime show is about music, and we would like to,
you know, let our show do the talking.
Speaker 1 (36:28):
They canceled it because they assumed it would be get political.
Speaker 2 (36:31):
They're preparing for the stage this Sunday. You know, it's
a big performance for the It's for any artist if
you get asked to do the super Bowl. Their thought
and a lot of planning, Oh.
Speaker 3 (36:40):
Yeah, you got so many minutes, and you got how
many hits? You got?
Speaker 2 (36:43):
His christ using a lot and so they didn't want
to you know, they know they're they're facing all kinds
of criticism for even accepting the invitation to play, So
they didn't want it to go you know, off the rails,
I guess, and not be about the show and the
music instead of the press conference. Though they did make
a half million dollar donation big brothers, Big Sisters of America.
So no press conference from Maroon five.
Speaker 8 (37:05):
Murphy Salm and Jody. You are a Hollywood saider.
Speaker 3 (37:10):
Went to the store that the other day and bought
myself a baby blanket. Has nothing to do with my
pending grandchild.
Speaker 2 (37:16):
Okay, Sam, you just like the way it felt.
Speaker 3 (37:18):
Well, I did, but I bought it for my cat,
a boo. That's sweet, the cat I don't like.
Speaker 5 (37:23):
Why.
Speaker 3 (37:24):
You know, I bought a new living room furniture last year. Yes,
and I have a big blanket on the big sofa.
So when Gus gets up there, he gets on the
blanket instead on the sofa.
Speaker 1 (37:33):
And it goes a blanket, it goes over.
Speaker 3 (37:35):
The back of the sofa because that's where a boo
likes to sit, is on the back of the sofa.
Speaker 1 (37:39):
So he's covered too, of Gus.
Speaker 3 (37:41):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, And then that thing to do. About
two weeks ago, for some reason, he decided he wants
to sleep on the other sofa. Now a boo, right,
So I've been trying to steer him back to the blanket,
but it's a cat. What are you going to do?
So I just went and bought a you know, a
kind of cheap baby blanket and put it over there
where he lays now nice. Sure enough he's laying on it.
I can't believe he's that problem.
Speaker 1 (38:00):
That's cool. That's a great solution there, you know. And
I forgot that Gush is the kind of dog you
can't no matter what you do, you can't keep moth
the couch right now.
Speaker 3 (38:08):
I tried everything crazy, I know, chairs, the pillows, the foil, everything.
He still gets up.
Speaker 1 (38:14):
Our dogs are pretty good about that, but you know,
one or two we'll try to sneak it in every
now and then if they know we're not going to
be there. Actually, I think they're all in cahoots with
each other, you know, where they have. One's looking out
the window and one says, yeah, they're both gone. Now
go ahead and self a time like you don't think?
I can see your paw imprints on the sofa just now,
and it's warm, yeah right right.
Speaker 2 (38:35):
So sad to hear about James Ingram passing away yesterday.
He was only sixty six years old.
Speaker 9 (38:41):
Long.
Speaker 2 (38:44):
This particular song one hundred Ways is one that we
crank at home. I can tell you, because you know,
of all whenever I think of him, I think that's
the jewel in his library to.
Speaker 3 (38:55):
Me, and this one with Brandy two and eighty one,
just wants to.
Speaker 2 (39:00):
Can he collaborate on a Disney song that you loved? Saym,
be honest.
Speaker 1 (39:03):
It wasn't Disney. It was a you know, in five
all American tale.
Speaker 10 (39:06):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (39:07):
I think a Spielberg put that one out. Was somewhere
out there.
Speaker 2 (39:10):
Oh yes, Linda Ronstadt, okay. Well, and James Ingram did
a lot of work with Quincy Jones.
Speaker 3 (39:16):
He was well, those where a hundred ways and one
of the other songs too.
Speaker 2 (39:21):
Just once Once, also a part of We Are the
World back in the day.
Speaker 9 (39:28):
This is hilm.
Speaker 3 (39:38):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (39:39):
So he had been battling brain cancer.
Speaker 3 (39:41):
You know, even did a song, a duet with Dolly Parton,
Oh God, this song he wrote. They did it together
for Beethoven second All the Day I Fall in Love.
Speaker 2 (39:50):
Oh it sounds like a James Ingram title and a
Selene title. By the way, he does have a really
good Greatest Hits collection. It's called the Power of Great
Music Piece.
Speaker 3 (40:00):
James Ingram, I want to invite you to hang out
with us a little bit longer this morning. It's the
After the Show podcast. Coming up, and as long as
you subscribe to the podcast, you get that one included free.
Speaker 2 (40:11):
That's right. I want to bring you into kind of
this little heated sort of discussion we had at the
dinner table the other night, texting versus voicemail. Our kids
don't leave voicemail, don't xe voicemail, they hate it. Okay,
we'll do that after the show.
