Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to the Murphy Salmon Jody after the show podcast.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
I have a little bit of a weird guilty pleasure
to share with you guys.

Speaker 1 (00:08):
A guilty pleasure.

Speaker 2 (00:09):
It's my one of my weird guilty pleasures. Murphy knows
this but doesn't really realize it. If somebody were on
the street were to say, Murphy, what are your wife's
guilty pleasures? This particular thing would not jump to your mind.

Speaker 1 (00:23):
Throne exactly. Dragons, yeah, Game of Thrones would be the
first thing. Yeah, Mafia movies.

Speaker 2 (00:29):
Who Mafia movies? Yeah, excellently.

Speaker 1 (00:30):
The other thing is owls. You love owls.

Speaker 2 (00:33):
It's true. Raccoons, I mean, raccoons a very funny nature.
So another guilty pleasure that I have, and it's I
hear myself say it. I'm embarrassed, but it's dishes. I
love dishes, pretty dishes that are functional but gorgeous. When
we go out to eat. When we all go to
a dinner, when a plate of food arrives, you guys

(00:55):
hone in on the food, but I am like, look
at this plate. It's gorgeous. It's heavy, it's thick, it's
shaped different.

Speaker 1 (01:03):
You know.

Speaker 2 (01:03):
I think dishes are cool.

Speaker 1 (01:05):
I guess I noticed them if they've got designs on
them or there's strange shapes, but otherwise I don't really.

Speaker 2 (01:11):
I try not to collect many dishes because you don't
need them, right, But I do like all the dishes
I have. If something's ugly, I don't want it. That's
why I have that cup issue, Murphy. I don't want
truck stop cups and cups from BUCkies and cups from
everywhere with logos. I want my glasses to look great
and be functional. So I have a dishes.

Speaker 1 (01:33):
I get to keep a handful of coffee mugs with
logos on them, you know, but not sitting out one
life lived. How many of them say Murphy on them?

Speaker 2 (01:43):
Anyway? So I also like to thrift. I don't know
if that's a guilty pleasure or not, but I was.

Speaker 1 (01:49):
Oh, yeah, I was running here. You say, that's definitely
a guilty. A lot of people love to thrift.

Speaker 2 (01:54):
So to meet because I was near I was running
some errands yesterday and there was a thrift place. Said
I don't get to go to very often because I
wasn't that part of town. Guess what the heck, guess
what I have plates? I have some new four new
Christmas plates are so gorgeous, Oh my god, and I
thrifted them. Guess how much? Ask me how much this

(02:16):
plate is? And there are three others, So I need.

Speaker 1 (02:18):
To describe the plate for somebody who's not watching read
it is it's square, it has really it looks like
it's almost hand painted with a present in the center
and ribbon and candy canes. Holly, I mean, I don't know.

Speaker 2 (02:30):
Not exactly square, because there's an actual design shape.

Speaker 1 (02:33):
Is this a name brand that is like a high
end name brand?

Speaker 2 (02:36):
Well, I don't know, well something to buy it for?
Name brands? I buy it for. I want to serve
food on this?

Speaker 1 (02:43):
What's the name brand?

Speaker 2 (02:44):
Curious certified international in China. Anyway, they're all different in
all four they're a set, but every picture is different.
Like this is a stocking.

Speaker 1 (02:56):
That's really pretty?

Speaker 2 (02:59):
I know.

Speaker 1 (03:00):
Do you use these for like ye family, the family eating?
Or is this stuff you're gonna use when you present
food at parties and stuff?

Speaker 2 (03:08):
Both? If I have twenty people at the house, there's
only four of these. We will put, you know, finger
sandwiches on this and such. But at this one has
a tree on it. But if Taylor and Phoebe come
over and it's just the four of us eating, you
better believe we'll eat on this.

Speaker 1 (03:21):
Yeah, they're very pretty. Last one, this one is a.

Speaker 2 (03:24):
Tree with the cardinals at the bottom. First of all,
I love red cardinals, and there's a red I know
it's a grandma ish guilty pleasure, but I love dishes,
and guess what, you gotta have dishes anyway, they're functional.

Speaker 1 (03:36):
Well, and since they're thrifted, you never know if those
might have been You know, when wind Dixie would do
a plated piece every you know, you would go to
wind Dixie, you would shop, and then there would be
a plate, and then the next week there'd be a
new plate.

Speaker 2 (03:49):
In China. Anyway, this one has a sleigh on it. Yeah,
there's cardinals in every single one. That's the common threat.
The deal with the cardinals. They're beautiful. It's a win
sort of bird. Everybody loves a red cardinal at Christmas.
And it's supposedly, you know, like the deceased coming to
visit you.

Speaker 1 (04:07):
I've never heard that, Yes, you have, Murphy. Yeah, we've
heard that. Oh you mean, okay, I did. I thought
I understand what you mean.

Speaker 2 (04:14):
Anyway, they're gorgeous. I wasn't looking for this. I popped
in there for no reason at all, and the Christmas
stuff was up front, and I think they're gorgeous, and
I made sure. Look, I'll just buy them sight unseen Murphy.
I make sure they're clean. I make sure they're not chipped.
There's not one spec on them. I don't know if
anybody ever even ate off of these plates.

Speaker 1 (04:34):
You have a place to put those, of course, how
many of you were collecting over here?

Speaker 2 (04:40):
Well Christmas they will sit out.

Speaker 1 (04:41):
So apparently certified international as I googled it here, they're
known for artwork on their plates. You can get them
at Coal's, you can get them at Macy's.

Speaker 2 (04:51):
Looks like so they're not like rare or anything like that.
They're mass produced. But guess what they make me happy.
The edges are red. They're more Christmas in Murphy then
the Christmas dishes we have out already.

Speaker 1 (05:02):
Yeah, so how much did you pay for each one?
Like five bucks to fifty two dollars and fifty cents thrift?
Oh that is better deal because online for the group
the set here for a set with a Christmas you
know that includes mugs, plates, bawls in the whole nine
yards one hundred. It's one hundred and twenty five dollars,

(05:24):
so yeah, you got a deal.

Speaker 2 (05:25):
Anyway, I just love them, and I think Murphy no offense.
But they're prettier than any of the Christmas plates I
have currently, the set that we have that has you know,
Santa on it, your grandmother gave us years ago. Yeah,
we'll use them together.

Speaker 1 (05:38):
I think those are spoed though, and like SPoD is
a really nice you.

Speaker 2 (05:43):
Know, not fifty, they're not spoed.

Speaker 1 (05:47):
They're not spowed. I had spoed for the longest time.
Spod's about the same price as I'm looking.

Speaker 2 (05:52):
On Anyway, I'm just showing you that this is one
of my guilty pleasures and I'm so excited about it.

Speaker 1 (05:58):
Yeah, apparently there's a spoed turkey platter too.

Speaker 2 (06:01):
And you know what happens to every Christmas morve guys.
I tell myself I don't need anything. I don't we have.
We have all the decorations that we have ever wanted
and needed, and all the all the favorite things that
come out. That's the beauty of Christmas is that, you know,
you only get to see the light up sleigh once
a year, and the kids love it and whatnot. So
I don't need anything, but I just could not pass

(06:23):
them up. They're beautiful.

Speaker 1 (06:24):
I mean for ten bucks, yes, I agree, you got
and washing them tonight just in case.

Speaker 2 (06:30):
You know, I'm going to be washing them and then
we're going to be using them. There was there a
butt in there? You said for ten bucks is yeah,
but I.

Speaker 1 (06:38):
Just know there was no butt. I think that's a
great deal for ten dollars. I know.

Speaker 2 (06:43):
Would you have noticed if I had served inner on these?
You would have there?

Speaker 1 (06:46):
I noticed. It almost looks like you could go either
way with those. You could either serve dinner on them,
or you could put them on a little stand and
display them.

Speaker 2 (06:54):
I don't do that. I love dishes, but they're functional.

Speaker 1 (06:59):
I don't know. You don't have a wall displays of dishes.

Speaker 2 (07:01):
Who I use them? I just want them to be pretty.
It's just guilty pleasure. Merry Christmas.

Speaker 1 (07:07):
Drifting is a wonderful guilty pleasure.

Speaker 2 (07:10):
