Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to the Murphy, Sam and Jody After the Show podcast.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
We're less than two weeks till Christmas, now thirteen days
until Christmas. Christmas is on a Thursday, so it's two
weeks from yesterday and at the beginning of the season,
like right around Thanksgiving or right after. I know we
did here in the show with Murphy Salmon Jody, we
did this one segment where he said, look, one of
the most important things you can do for your family,

(00:24):
with your family, because life is nuts, Christmas can feel crazy.
One of the best things you can do is just
make plans. Make one plan. Maybe you can't do all
the things. Maybe you can't go caroling and see all
the lights and see all the movies. You can't do it.
You have to work, you have life. But just make
one plan, something that your family can do together. And

(00:49):
I am so excited that ours is finally here. Tomorrow,
your one plan. Look, our girls are busy, they're in school,
they've got boyfriends, they're busy, busy, busy, Taylor, Phoebe. But
we made plans and we did this before Thanksgiving. I
bought the tickets and tomorrow morning, the four of us.
I'm sorry the five of us because Alan Michael's coming

(01:11):
to Taylor's boyfriend's coming. Phoebe's boyfriend can't make it, he's
at school. So the five of us are going to
get dressed up Christmas.

Speaker 1 (01:19):
Y Oh, I didn't know that part.

Speaker 2 (01:21):
Yeah, Phoebe really wants to. Okay, Phoebe, it was her idea,
you know, because it's her favorite Christmas movie. But we're
going to see The Grinch in the theaters dressed up,
well Christmasy. You can just stick a hat on your
head if you know.

Speaker 1 (01:34):
This is the twentieth anniversary of The Grinch. And so
they put it back in theaters. Yeah, with Jim Carrey. Yeah,
and but yeah, I mean I don't really have a
whole lot of Christmas. The only thing, the only thing
that I have is a woman's Christmas sweater. And I
don't know what it works.

Speaker 2 (01:50):
Nobody knows. It's a woman's It's just a Christmas sweater
and it's a vest. And when you wear it, I mean,
you know, it look like a woman, as.

Speaker 1 (01:56):
Long as you don't think I do. The only reason
I know that is because the buttons are on the
wrong side, well woman's side, Yes, I met the wrong side.

Speaker 2 (02:05):
We're missing the obvious one here. He needs to put
on the cousin Eddie ups. I know it, I know
he does.

Speaker 1 (02:10):
That would be the hit.

Speaker 2 (02:11):
People would be taking pictures of you at the theater.

Speaker 1 (02:14):
Yeah, the problem is with the cousin Eddie outfit. You
have to wear really short shorts. Well no, the road
is like really short, and so.

Speaker 2 (02:22):
You know, we've been begging him to break that out.
But yell, all you have to do is wear like
a Christmas hat if you want. Now, Phoebe will probably
go all out. I might even join them in wearing
like a Christmas onesie or something. I don't know how
I'm going to work the feet with that, but we're
going to do that. But my whole point is, don't
worry about that. I've got you there. I have a hole.

(02:44):
Does it surprise you that I have a whole section
of my closet that is all Christmas stuff, like so
much Christmas ware. I love it so much, and we
like to dress Christmas.

Speaker 1 (02:53):
But your point is is really well taken. That you've
carved out something that's one thing that you know that
you can enjoy. It will be a highlight for the holidays.

Speaker 2 (03:02):
Four of us I'm sorry the five of us, Alan Michael,
I do want you to be there.

Speaker 1 (03:07):
Well, you know, I really do. What's crazy about this
is because one thing that I kept reading that when
they say really the top things to do to get
you through the holiday season and avoid distress, and one
of those is that one of them is focused on family,
the other one is actually focused on something that's just
you, you know. And then but the other thing is to

(03:30):
say no. Now, you can't say no to everything right
exactly like anybody. But there are so many things that
you get approached with over the holidays, and like you said, choices.
Some of those are things that you and your family
could do together. Some of those are things that friends
ask you to do. Some of them are invitations to parties,
and that's where people get really, you know, overwhelmed.

Speaker 2 (03:49):
I'm going to shelve that out for all year long. Well, God,
learn how to say no for your own life success.

Speaker 1 (03:56):
I think it's enhanced Christimas Team No Thanks.

Speaker 2 (03:59):
I can't.

Speaker 1 (03:59):
I think it's enhanced at Christmas times because of the
sheer volume of events, choicest things you could go to,
things you can buy tickets to parties, you can go
to family gatherings, people who haven't seen you in a while.
It's you know what I'm saying, it's a litany.

Speaker 2 (04:13):
It's too much carry over to guests. What do you
mean I'd like a switch for Christmas now, No, not
this year. Of course it carries over to guests.

Speaker 1 (04:20):
Okay, yeah, I'm talking about saying no for your time.

Speaker 2 (04:23):
I'm just so excited. I feel like this is going
to be a highlight. I love the movie. I've never
seen it in the theater, and I also bought the
tickets in my favorite place to sit in the theater,
which is all the way up, all the way up,
sort of in the middle is where we're going to
be seated. Nobody can be behind us and you get
a great view that way. And it's a wonderful movie.

(04:45):
And it's her favorite movie, Phoebe's favorite.

Speaker 1 (04:48):
Yeah, I'm looking forward to it also. And what's crazy
about this is I can't tell you how many things
I have had to make sure I didn't move into
Saturday morning.

Speaker 2 (04:57):
I know I know how to it's wild.

Speaker 1 (05:00):
Well you have, yeah, I mean you haven't, it's in
my calendar. Well, and I've but so I've caught myself
over this past week and saying, why can you just
do that Saturday morning? But no I can't, which is
fine because I want that time blackout. I want to
do it. But that's an example of what you're seeing.
It's set aside.

Speaker 2 (05:17):
Yeah, it's hard to get everybody together, so that's why
I'm so excited about it. It'll be a couple of
hours together and that's it. And then honestly, right after it,
Phoebe's on the way to see her boyfriend. She's going
get in the car and go and see him. So
it's just a reminder to do it. Do even if
it's just one thing, and there's still plenty of time.
