Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to the Murphy Salmonchoty Weekend Show podcast, highlighting some
of our favorite moments from this past.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
Week eight seven seven three one zero four MSJ to
join the conversation.
Speaker 1 (00:13):
What is going on, Monique?
Speaker 3 (00:16):
I was calling to tell you my way to keep
cats out of a Christmas tree.
Speaker 4 (00:20):
Yes, let's hear it. You need it.
Speaker 1 (00:23):
So.
Speaker 3 (00:23):
I have a kitten and two older cats, and my
tree is fully decorated. I do keep the orderments at
the bottom for them to mess with, but nice they
don't mess with it once I put it up and
I decorate it.
Speaker 1 (00:34):
I have it a.
Speaker 3 (00:35):
Chaser, but I don't taste the cats. I just show
them the taser and I make the sound and they
will say to you, I've done it three times and
now now I just have to pick it up and
they don't go anywhere near.
Speaker 5 (00:47):
The Christmas great.
Speaker 4 (00:47):
Wait wait wait wait wait, okay.
Speaker 2 (00:49):
I understand about a water bottle, and I understand about
a can that makes always, but a taser.
Speaker 4 (00:54):
Tell me about this taste?
Speaker 3 (00:55):
Yeah, it makes it. It's a regular cheesey. You turn
it on and it makes sense.
Speaker 1 (01:00):
They don't like that sound.
Speaker 3 (01:01):
They run from the Christmas tree. Well, yeah, that went
away from the Christmas.
Speaker 4 (01:04):
Why do you have the taser?
Speaker 3 (01:07):
Maybe for protection, like when you go out.
Speaker 1 (01:09):
Yeah, you've never used it on the cats?
Speaker 4 (01:12):
Oh god, okay, I don't.
Speaker 3 (01:13):
I don't use it.
Speaker 4 (01:14):
I don't use it on the cat.
Speaker 3 (01:16):
Whenever they go towards the Christmas tree, I just make
the sound that's the taser, and I put it on
and they run. They don't go anywhere. They don't mess
with the tree has been out for two weeks.
Speaker 4 (01:27):
They don't.
Speaker 5 (01:28):
My cat does the same thing now with the spray.
Speaker 4 (01:30):
Whenever I spray anything.
Speaker 5 (01:32):
Yeah, he got used to being sprayed. So if I
just with my mouth go he runs.
Speaker 4 (01:38):
Good for you, that's control. Good for you.
Speaker 1 (01:42):
It's smart. Monique, thank you for the show on that.
Glad him. Know you're not tasing the cats, but you
know I know that like with our dogs. So our
dog Champ, there's a buzzer in a game that used
to freak him out. Same thing. But look, I think
that's good. If you have cats, you know, it's don't
let that ruin Christmas for you. You don't think you can
put your tree up. It doesn't hurt an animal for
(02:03):
them to hear a sound that they dislike and keep
them away.
Speaker 5 (02:05):
You know, I kind of like, don't let cats ruin Chris.
Speaker 4 (02:10):
Well a lot.
Speaker 2 (02:11):
Look, my mom will not put up a tree this year,
and it's because her cats tore her tree down last
year and knocked it over and they were all up in.
Speaker 1 (02:21):
I don't think they did anything to keep the cats out.
Did they know?
Speaker 4 (02:24):
They won't do they won't do the South Yes, the.
Speaker 1 (02:29):
Sounds it's easier. N me a call.
Speaker 5 (02:31):
I'll come over and do it.
Speaker 1 (02:32):
They didn't have those little automated things and just puffs
of air. That's enough to you know, keep them weight,
doesn't hurt anything, but keep it coming.
Speaker 4 (02:38):
Thank you, Monique.
Speaker 1 (02:43):
Jody's Gift Today brought to you by Home Depot Today.
Speaker 2 (02:46):
Jody's gift today is really from Sam because he's got
some game in the gift apartment. And I want you
to shout out what you told me the other day
because I want to share it.
Speaker 4 (02:56):
It was in.
Speaker 5 (02:56):
Bookstore and I realized I bought a couple of books
there for Christmas gifts, and I realize it's like, this
is a great gift for people it is that actually
do read because and what's really cool about it is
you can go into the bookstore with no clue whatsoever
and just looking around, and it's like, oh, they would
love this person, would like this, and oh, this is
(03:17):
a perfect book for this person.
Speaker 4 (03:19):
Correct knocked out two Christmas gifts, very good.
Speaker 5 (03:22):
And I even have a third book for a third person,
my work spouse, not you, Murphy.
Speaker 4 (03:26):
Oh I'm getting a book this year.
Speaker 5 (03:28):
Oyay, it's what I hear from Santa Claus.
Speaker 4 (03:31):
You know my rule. If you give me a book,
well my requests.
Speaker 5 (03:34):
Oh yeah, I got to write in it.
Speaker 2 (03:37):
And it's lovely to make it personal, even more personal
right in the.
Speaker 4 (03:42):
Cover for me, for Jody from the year. That's fine.
Speaker 5 (03:46):
Whatever you can write the year.
Speaker 4 (03:47):
It is a really great gift idea.
Speaker 5 (03:50):
I just like it because you can have no clue whatsoever.
And you know, I'll tell you a little truth here, Murphy.
When I got you with that Airplane book last year, Yeah,
the guys who did the airplane movies, all the inside,
behind the scenes stories. I was in a library and
I saw that and picked it up and started reading
it and laughing. So I bought it online for myself.
I liked it so much. I was like, Murphy would
(04:10):
love this. Yeah, And it's the same thing. I didn't
then go into it thinking get this for Murphy.
Speaker 1 (04:14):
But yeah, if you especially if somebody you know and
their interest, their basic interest, it's not a bad thing
at all. And I was I was actually reading the
other day because I was curious. You know, bookstores you
think kind of struggle in the digital age where everything
can be purchased online. But but they say that, you know,
gen Z and Jen Alpha are actually more into you know, books,
(04:36):
They're looking for that vibe right exactly. It's a transitional
thing that's going on. It's the opposite of what you
would would think.
Speaker 4 (04:41):
They're in the physical media.
Speaker 2 (04:42):
And look, there's a whole when you go into a bookstore,
you do it for yourself, for your own lovely experience,
but you're you're right up off the shelves that you.
Speaker 1 (04:53):
And they're creating a vibe in any any of these
stories that are any redone. So that's part of just
the fun of shopping in there.
Speaker 2 (04:59):
Some of the hot books of twenty twenty five Freedom
McFadden anything. Her latest one is called The Intruder, There's
Sunrise on the Reaping. There's an Aussie last right, the
Anthony Bourdain reader aware of that one that's a new
book as well. Morning pick me up time kids, I
want you to listen to this too. But parents, grandparents,
(05:20):
at this time of the year, when you decorate your home,
you are doing something. You are feeding your child's heart
and self esteem without even realizing it.
Speaker 4 (05:28):
If you break out the old.
Speaker 2 (05:31):
Ornaments or even the new ornaments and display them with
pride that they.
Speaker 4 (05:35):
Have made for you. Oh my gosh.
Speaker 2 (05:39):
When a child makes something for you, whether it's an ornament,
or if they bring you a rock and they painted
on it, or they bring you a flower, anything that
a child sort of makes you, if it's on a
paper plate and they give it to you, that is
the most pure intentional gift you will ever get. Because
they didn't they don't necessarily the money for it, and
(06:00):
that that doesn't matter. They really put thought into it,
like this is for you. If you're the recipient of
something like this from a child, please display it proudly,
Please accept it with such gratitude and excitementtely matters.
Speaker 4 (06:15):
It means a lot.
Speaker 1 (06:16):
That kind of stuff always melts my heart. And tell
you and we'll still get handmade things like that.
Speaker 4 (06:22):
I love it.
Speaker 2 (06:22):
And the reason I say I want children to listen to.
This is that if you if you're not rocking a
bank account, you're not supposed to.
Speaker 4 (06:28):
You're a child.
Speaker 2 (06:29):
Your job, your job in this world is to you know,
play and be a child, and you know learn learn.
You're learning every day, not just in school. You're learning
every day. But I promise you, if you want to
give your parents, or your siblings or your friends something,
making them something does.
Speaker 4 (06:46):
Count, and it does matter. Does it matters more.
Speaker 2 (06:50):
My favorite thing that we it's not just ornaments mostly
it's ornaments. People have all these things that the kids
made and you only pull them out once a year.
If you display them proudly, whether your kids speaks to
you about it or not, the fact that you're still
displaying it, they know it matters to them. Our youngest Phoebe,
we always had canvases around for her to paint, and
(07:10):
so she would get really excited with Santa coming at
Christmas time and she would paint pictures Christmas pictures of
Santa being in our house. And we have all those
pictures and so I definitely hang them every year, and
she doesn't talk to me about them, but I know
she sees them, even the.
Speaker 1 (07:29):
Things that come out, you know, that were made on
construction paper preschool. It's all sweet. Yeah, you know, it
doesn't matter what it's on or what it is.
Speaker 5 (07:36):
Everything made with pasta.
Speaker 2 (07:40):
So remember it's not only a perfectly acceptable gift, it
is actually the most beautiful kind.
Speaker 1 (07:47):
Absolutely.
Speaker 4 (07:50):
You know.
Speaker 5 (07:50):
I like the musical mashups, don't you, well, Sam, two
songs are put together, and they somehow the one yeah yeah, them.
Speaker 1 (07:58):
Apparently usually show up on TikTok, do they?
Speaker 5 (08:00):
Yes, everybody. You're very creative on social media to put
these together together. And we actually have a couple for
the holidays, so I figured i'd bring these to you.
One of these is just gonna blow you away, but
not the first one. The first one is a little
tribute to Ozzie teaming up with a jingle bell rock
from Holland Oates.
Speaker 1 (08:32):
That's funny.
Speaker 4 (08:36):
I don't like you. I need that, I need that.
I thank you for this.
Speaker 5 (08:41):
Yes, but really, like I said, the one that's really
gonna get you is this next one.
Speaker 4 (08:46):
Oh no, I love that one.
Speaker 5 (08:48):
It's a Creed sound alike with Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer.
Speaker 6 (08:54):
Here you go, rudof Red Nose, Shine.
Speaker 2 (09:05):
People, who understand I guess music and feel it and
hear it. It's a sense, right, They sense that it
would work, and then they get in to start working it.
Speaker 1 (09:14):
There are also AI apps now that help you put
those things to.
Speaker 5 (09:18):
You're taking away the Christmas magic there?
Speaker 1 (09:20):
Sorry, why Christmas?
Speaker 4 (09:22):
He wants that?
Speaker 5 (09:23):
So this is like Creed higher okay and Rudolph he
goes higher. So let's get to that part.
Speaker 4 (09:29):
Rude and Reindeer.
Speaker 2 (09:34):
And one call your Christmas.
Speaker 1 (09:36):
Yes, Creed never had a Christmas album.
Speaker 2 (09:46):
Right, Oh my gosh, o man, thank you for that.
The fact that it possibly was AI created bothers me
a little bit.
Speaker 4 (09:56):
It doesn't make it any less.
Speaker 1 (09:57):
That sounds like an impersonator, right damn? I mean that
guy who it sounds lot.
Speaker 2 (10:01):
Not really Scott stop. But I'd love to hear a
little bit of Ozzie one again.
Speaker 4 (10:04):
Please.
Speaker 1 (10:05):
Okay, yes, good bye, and you buy it. You know
I'm coming home. It's Christmas and.
Speaker 2 (10:17):
We lost Ozzy this year. This is the one for me.
Thank you, Sam. Ten gifts in ten minutes. We did
that this week one of our after the show podcasts.
You can listen to it anywhere you listen to podcasts.
Just search Murphy, Sam and Jody.
Speaker 4 (10:31):
Ten gifts in ten minutes, all good gifts too. We
also put.
Speaker 2 (10:34):
It under gift today on the website if you want
to just read it in like two minutes.
Speaker 4 (10:39):
Murphy, Saman Jody dot com.
Speaker 1 (10:41):
Jody, I have not told you about this yet. I
have got tremendous dad guilt this morning. Okay, Yeah, I'm
feeling really bad about because I did something that really
bothered our two daughters. And you know, there's nothing more important.
Yeah recently, Yeah, our daughter's Taylor and Phoebe, and so
I was sharing something with them. I wanted their opinion
on it because they're not big fans of AI. Not
(11:03):
I mean, they're really not fans of AI at all.
A lot of people are kind of creeped out about it.
And if you've been getting things in your feeds lately,
there's a chat GBT has something called Sora, and so
the whole lot of that stuff's going viral. You type
in the descriptions of what you wanted to create, it
creates an AI video that's about ten seconds long.
Speaker 4 (11:19):
Yeah, we have a friend who sends us though.
Speaker 1 (11:21):
Our friend Mark does those and they're funny.
Speaker 2 (11:23):
He's you know, Yeah, he's he's scoring touchdowns on college
football fields right.
Speaker 1 (11:27):
Oh, he's playing for Auburn and the you know in
his fantasy Sora video, Yeah, getting tackled and you know
and yelling hoodie who. But anyway, so I am so okay, yeah,
and so I decided, well, let me just try this.
I've never done this.
Speaker 4 (11:44):
You created a video, and so I told it to.
Speaker 1 (11:46):
Okay, I want there to be and I was trying
to do something kind of funny. I want a group
of kids chasing me with sticks and then I'm runnaway
telling them I didn't steal their frisbee, and then I
hop on a go cart that I'm too big for
and then try to get away from them and I'm
through bales of hay and and and so it did that.
It created it in ten seconds. But it's a little
freaky looking. And so I sent it to them, knowing
(12:09):
that they're not AI fans, just to get their opinion
on that. And the responses I got back. The first
one was from Phoebe. All it said was I do
not like this, right, and then for you and then
Taylor's were bit real, come on, dad, like okay, So
I sent them an apology because I think it freaked
them out. I don't know that they were, but this
is sure. Let me see if I can, you know,
(12:31):
play it for you start. I ran into a cow
at the end, yeah, exactly, So I know you can't
see that video, but you know it does look a
lot like me, and it's it's a little creepy.
Speaker 2 (12:52):
So and and just like you love it, Sam does too.
So I think you found your AI buddy. I'll be
over here with the real me eight seven seven three
one zero four m asked Jay to join us.
Speaker 1 (13:07):
Hello, Amy, Hi, Hi.
Speaker 6 (13:10):
This is so crazy.
Speaker 4 (13:11):
Why is it crazy?
Speaker 6 (13:13):
I didn't think i'd ever get on the phone with y'all.
Speaker 2 (13:15):
Of course, can I tell you something cute before you
tell us what you called for your Your name is
very special to me. Emmy is what I was going
to name a baby I was pregnant after after having
my oldest Taylor, and we Murphy and I were going
to name her Emmy. But I then had a miscarriage.
(13:37):
Oh that's sad, Yeah it is, but you know what,
we moved on and then we had a Phoebe.
Speaker 4 (13:42):
So anyway, I love your name.
Speaker 6 (13:45):
Thank you, So what.
Speaker 4 (13:46):
Can we do for you?
Speaker 6 (13:46):
I mean I listen for let's see, I am twenty.
I have listened since I was probably nine or ten
years old.
Speaker 4 (13:55):
Sweet.
Speaker 6 (13:56):
I have always was like, you know what, when I
get over, I'm going to call and tell them, y'all
make my holiday the best holiday because I listened for
tips on you know, gifts and you know the whole
nine yards. It's always helped, y'all ideas for gifts have
never filled.
Speaker 4 (14:12):
Sweet. Oh, I'm so glad to know this.
Speaker 6 (14:15):
I'm always the one person that gives everybody I.
Speaker 4 (14:18):
Know something love it.
Speaker 6 (14:20):
You know, it could be little, it could be big.
And so this year I had went out and I
was like, you know, I'm gonna do something special, and
I made a humongous batch of my homemade Chex mix
that I do every year. I gave it back to everybody.
I mean, our church is like fifty people, so like
fifty boxes of the next and I was like, you
(14:41):
know what, this is the season of giving. And then
as soon as you had on this morning I started
talking about giving unexpected gifts. I was like, this is
much kind to shine given it to you know, this
random couple that had just started coming and they're like,
this makes it so special. Yeah, you know this, This
is so special. So I hope y'all know and it
(15:01):
actually works.
Speaker 5 (15:02):
Yay.
Speaker 4 (15:03):
I'm so glad to hear that.
Speaker 2 (15:04):
It's just the unexpected gift feels even better than a gift,
which already feels great.
Speaker 4 (15:09):
Yes, for sure, for sure, it feels the best to
be the one giving it though, truly.
Speaker 6 (15:13):
Oh yes, well.
Speaker 1 (15:14):
Thank you so much for sharing that with us. Emmy
and sweet.
Speaker 4 (15:17):
Follow her lead.
Speaker 2 (15:18):
There's a lot of make it take a gift ideas
online at Murphy Samonjody dot com.
Speaker 4 (15:24):
When you fly and you know.
Speaker 2 (15:26):
You're going to be going through a TSA checkpoint, think
about what you're wearing. Just give, not just for the flight,
not just for your comfort or meaning inappropriate, not inappropriate.
Speaker 1 (15:37):
Why would it be inappropriate?
Speaker 4 (15:39):
Yeah, I didn't wear anything in appropriate.
Speaker 5 (15:41):
I kind of like that Johnny Cash shirt with the finger.
Speaker 1 (15:43):
Oh okay, you're not talking about things that set off
the detector, but I'm talking you're talking about things that
set off people's react.
Speaker 5 (15:51):
Right.
Speaker 2 (15:52):
I've had some struggles going through ts A. You know,
leggings are one of my best friends in the world.
I love leggings and I wear them and I have
stopped trying. I've really stopped wearing them through checkpoints because.
Speaker 4 (16:06):
Some of the leggings that I wear have.
Speaker 1 (16:08):
Like the metal fibers.
Speaker 2 (16:12):
And such, and so I'm tired of the my groin
area maging and go woo and I get the whole
pat down off. And I finally asked this girl, I'm like,
why is this always happening to me?
Speaker 6 (16:22):
You know?
Speaker 2 (16:22):
She's like, well, it's just the fibers in the clothing
or zippers or things like that. So I thought, let
me wear some thin comfortable pants. Sure I wore my
thin comfortable Nike pants going through TSA the other day
and sure thing. Whoo, man, can you please step aside?
And then I looked at the screen of me and
(16:43):
there are red boxes over there, and it's like, so,
here's what's up. You know, my most comfortable, old running
Nike pants. They don't look tattered or anything like that.
They're really well made. They have zippers at the ankle.
They thought I had something hidden in my ug boots,
You're like, and she said, it's the zipper here, that's
(17:03):
the problem. And then when I stepped forward and there's
this man he's like, ma'am, lady, he says, do you
have something in the back of your pants you need
to talk to me about. He was kind of smirking,
so I thought he's messing with me. And then I
was like, oh, you know, these pants are running pants, Murphy.
And there's a little hidden zipper compartment right right, No,
(17:27):
no for a key. Oh it's a small little pocket
with a zipper. A lot of athletic Where has that
sort of stuff?
Speaker 4 (17:34):
Well, I had stuck my vitamins in there. Yeah, it's
like I wanted to take this la. Just think about
what you put on.
Speaker 1 (17:43):
As a checkpoint, ma'am. Yeah, Murphy, Sam and Jody's twelve
Dips of Christmas.
Speaker 2 (17:51):
Oh my gosh, my favorite one, and are all new
twelve Dips of Christmas.
Speaker 4 (17:55):
Murphy.
Speaker 2 (17:55):
I will be making this and there's a special reason
in our family. I'm going to make it. It's winter
white pizza dip. Okay, So, my cousin Crystal has she
has developed some sort of sensitivity to tomato.
Speaker 4 (18:11):
Yeah, she can't drink orange juice anymore. It kills her.
Speaker 2 (18:14):
She's the reason we have the white sauce pizza sauce recipe.
So anyway, we have a winter white pizza dip recipe,
and I'm definitely gonna make it and she can.
Speaker 4 (18:22):
Eat it, okay, and she likes dips. It's a cup
of ricotta.
Speaker 2 (18:27):
It's ricotta, cheese, mazzarella, cheese, olive oil, oregano, garlic, and
spinach chopped up fresh spinach. Okay, you mix all that
up and you put it in a casserole dish and
you bake it fifteen minutes, serve with like warm bread
or peta chips or something.
Speaker 4 (18:44):
I mean you could eat it with a fok.
Speaker 2 (18:46):
Really, you could put it on warm bread and it
would be like pizza, white pizza. Oh yeah, I'm so
excited to make this, but also just to say, hey,
I made this with you in mind. Yeah, because she
can't have the you know, red sauce.
Speaker 1 (18:59):
Sure. I think that's a great take on different By
the way, we've got we've got twelve all new dips
this year and the twelve dips of Christmas.
Speaker 4 (19:04):
Yes, the boresa layered dip is there, you know.
Speaker 1 (19:10):
The when you say the white pizza dip, it also
makes me wonder would it be possible to do you know,
a Philly cheese steak kind of a dip like that pizza,
you know, the Philly cheese pizzas. Yeah, white sauce with this,
I'm sure there's probably a way to do that, but anyway,
we'll try this one first that we've actually officially got. Thanks,
I'm not suggesting we go there yet. Also, I'm just hungry.
Speaker 4 (19:32):
I wanted you to know that the honorable mention.
Speaker 2 (19:35):
Every single Christmas now for the last several years, I've
made the Little Debbie Christmas tree cake dip for our family,
and it's so sweet and so cute, like it's fluffy
and light, and it has actual Christmas tree cakes in it,
and then I also puts you know, Christmas sprinkles on
top of it, and you serve it with like ginger
snaps or Nilla wafers.
Speaker 4 (19:56):
It's sugar overload.
Speaker 2 (19:58):
And then I also put some rist Mister cakes on
the side of the bowl so it makes it just
looks like, you know, Little Debbie's.
Speaker 4 (20:05):
At the house.
Speaker 2 (20:06):
So anyway, that honorable mentioned recipe is also there with
our twelve Dips of Christmas at Murphy Salmon Jody dot com.
Speaker 3 (20:14):
Social media connect.
Speaker 2 (20:16):
You know, we are here for your Christmas stories and
the greatest things that happened to you. As a family
at Christmas usually happened by accident. The greatest traditions you
stumble backwards into. And so we've been talking about, you know,
mal Santa's and Santa's who work as Santa's helpers for
the real Santa, you know, spreading all this joy and
(20:36):
how much joy they get from the job. Kathy sent
this email to Murphysamonjody dot com. I wanted to share
a Christmas memory with you all. Several years ago, I
was living with a friend and her ninety nine year
old mother named Mimi. They were living together. We had
lots of fun adventures the three of us. At Christmas.
One year, I took her to the mall to shop.
Speaker 4 (20:58):
Santa was there. Mimi, she had never visited with Santa.
Speaker 1 (21:02):
What at ninety nine years old?
Speaker 2 (21:04):
Really, I convinced her to go sit and visit with Santa.
It was the most precious sight ever. Santa was overcome
with emotions and said this was a highlight of his
holiday and the best gift.
Speaker 4 (21:16):
He had had in years.
Speaker 1 (21:17):
Wow.
Speaker 2 (21:17):
Love that Santa gave her a candy cane and a
cardboard rain and cardboard reindeer.
Speaker 4 (21:23):
Ears that they gave all the kids as well.
Speaker 2 (21:25):
That Mimi prouably wore those antlers for days. I guess
this goes to say that they're never too old to
have the heart of a child. We're never too old
to have the heart of a child, even at ninety nine.
Speaker 1 (21:39):
Kathy, what a great story I.
Speaker 2 (21:42):
Am telling you now, I want to just go, you know, finding.
Speaker 5 (21:47):
Old to drag them.
Speaker 2 (21:49):
Santa just needs to get out, you know, and drag
them to Santa.
Speaker 4 (21:53):
But how precious is that Mimi asked for a ninety nine.
Speaker 2 (21:57):
Probably nothing, Probably just sat there and talked, Yeah, look,
you don't.
Speaker 4 (22:01):
You forget about it.
Speaker 2 (22:02):
If you grow up and you don't go sit on
Santa's lap, you forget how magical that is.
Speaker 1 (22:07):
She might have just given him her gratitude list.
Speaker 2 (22:10):
Yeah, they probably had a great discussion.
Speaker 1 (22:13):
I love that is so sweet.
Speaker 4 (22:15):
Thank you so much for sending that to us, Kathy.
Speaker 2 (22:18):
You know, when we would go take the girls to
visit Santa when they were younger and wanted to go
visit Santa, I would speak to Santa too.
Speaker 4 (22:25):
You know. I don't know if you you were normally
off taking pictures of us all.
Speaker 1 (22:28):
But I would always talk, you know, when we saw
Santa in the restaurant that time. I sure said hey
to him.
Speaker 4 (22:33):
Yeah. When was the last time you said on Santa's lap? Sam?
Speaker 5 (22:36):
Oh mm? Oh we had him come by here.
Speaker 4 (22:44):
Yeah he didn't. He didn't seem to enjoy that as much. Anyway.
Thank you for this, Kathy.
Speaker 2 (22:50):
Keep it coming your Christmas traditions and memories, those special
memories that you didn't know were going to happen.
Speaker 4 (22:55):
Murphy Samon Jody dot.
Speaker 2 (22:57):
Com Jody's Gift Today teacher gift ideas moms dads. I
do not want this to be difficult for you. We're
gonna throw some ideas that you remember. You know, it
doesn't have to be the greatest gift of all time.
It can be something small for the world's greatest teacher.
Speaker 4 (23:14):
But whatever it is, well it depending on.
Speaker 1 (23:16):
How old your kids are. It makes a difference on
how many teachers.
Speaker 4 (23:20):
They have too correct.
Speaker 2 (23:21):
But whatever it is that you do, at least Sunday
little note, thank you mister, thank you missus for all
that you do for a blank or my kid or whatever,
or let your child write the little note. So it
always works to give a little gift card and to me,
what's near the school? Is there a sweet little coffee
shop right down from the school. You know that they
(23:41):
may want to hit you know, are your holidays or
is there a really cool you know, I don't know,
fast food joint on the way.
Speaker 4 (23:48):
Home from school or whatever.
Speaker 2 (23:49):
Just you can give a five or ten dollars gift
card for something like that and that's it, you know,
or one of my favorites.
Speaker 4 (23:57):
And we used to do this with the girls.
Speaker 2 (23:58):
Murphy, Well, I did you know one night you bake
a batch of cookies, or you bake a pan of
brownies and you slice them up into a big like,
give a big brownie and wrap it up a fresh
one with the note you can get six or seven
big brownies out of a you know, you want to
(24:19):
do it if you bake cookies and we have to
make it take a gift ideas. You can give a
little stack of small ones and they wrap up really nicely,
and make sure that there are no allergies.
Speaker 4 (24:28):
You know that the teacher. Don't send nuts to the school.
Speaker 1 (24:31):
Yeah, don't put nuts in it.
Speaker 2 (24:32):
Just yeah, like I did that Christmas accidentally sent my
snack mix to a nut free campus.
Speaker 5 (24:42):
They come right home.
Speaker 2 (24:43):
No, I just heard about it. Thank you for this however,
I'm having to go put this out in my car.
One of the teachers texted me yeah, and I was like,
I'm sorry, but anyway, So gift cards really really do work.
Coffee gift cards work. Hand sanitizer. Hand sanitizer's little cute
ones with a little bow around them. Teachers need that
(25:06):
stuff because they're around all the little faces and the
little hands.
Speaker 4 (25:09):
All day long.
Speaker 1 (25:10):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (25:11):
So just it's in snacks. You can make any kind
of make it, take it.
Speaker 2 (25:15):
You can make a bunch and then portion them out
in small portions. I promise you your child's teacher is
not expecting a huge gift from you now, right, so
excited to bring you the twelve Dips of Christmas this year,
all new dips. Did you see that there's a white
pizza dip in there? Boom, So check them out at
Murphy Samonjody dot com.
Speaker 1 (25:35):
I'll letchendle on a little secret here, Sam. I guess
you know this. If Jody and I are going out
to eat somewhere and she goes into the restaurant first
and gets seated, and I'm parking the car or whatever,
and then I go to the hostess stand, I usually
say yeah, I'm here to meet the redhead, which usually works, right.
Speaker 4 (25:54):
I mean that usually she's right over there.
Speaker 1 (25:56):
Yes, exactly, and which has made it super easy. However,
I ran into a hostess one of the recent times
that we went out to eat, excuse me, and she
didn't think well, she didn't say she didn't see a
redhead in the restaurant. I'm like, well, so does Jodie
not hear? What's the deal? But I think it's because
your hair is not as red as it used to be.
Speaker 2 (26:18):
Correct, that's a normal thing among gingers. Is it older
that you get your hair lightens up. We ran into
one of my favorite redheads the other day, our friend Catherine,
and she was even saying, my hair is not even
red anymore, and she doesn't look as red.
Speaker 5 (26:33):
It's funny you mentioned that, because when you all were together,
I looked at when she said that, I looked at
your hair and I was like, wow, it's not as
red as Oh.
Speaker 2 (26:39):
My hair used to be so red that it was orange,
which is why redheaded children. If you are listening and
your hair is super bright, I promise you, first of all,
it's gorgeous. It's beautiful. You know, it does stand out
and it's beautiful. But as you get older, it will
just naturally change. Everything changes as you get older, but
(27:00):
your hair will lighten up.
Speaker 1 (27:01):
Yeah, and so that was the first time it occurred
to me. It's like, I've used this trick, you know,
ever since Jody and I've been married. Now it's going
to be what's difficult? She said, you can just go
in there and take a look, Okay, But then it
was even more difficult for me to find Jody too
because of the same thing. Oh, I know what you.
Speaker 2 (27:19):
Look like, right, you were about to say that you
sat down next or she brought you to a different redhead.
Speaker 4 (27:25):
I'm gonna try that trick anyway.
Speaker 2 (27:29):
Well, you know, it's cute because we're not the only
couple that has that. Like, you know, we meet each
other sometimes because we're always going in different directions, like
let's meet here for lunch. Whoever arrives early, like I
have to describe you as well, and I usually say,
you know, he's wearing this, or and he's super friendly.
Speaker 4 (27:45):
I'm like, oh, he's right over here. Did you know that, Murphy.
Speaker 1 (27:48):
Yeah, I was hoping it would be he's super hot.
I'll take super friendly Sam Scott Music, who.
Speaker 2 (27:58):
Was brought to you by International Animal Rescue.
Speaker 4 (28:03):
Here at Christmas time.
Speaker 5 (28:06):
Way, a music psychologist has analyzed hours and hours of
music to find the perfect songs to lift our spirits.
Christmas songs to lift our spirits. Okay, so these are
the happiest Christmas songs according to science. I'm gonna give
you some of the top ten. Number ten was Kelly Clarkson.
Speaker 2 (28:26):
Yes, it sounded like a classic when it dropped when
it was new.
Speaker 5 (28:30):
Also get Paul McCartney's in there, Jackson five, number six,
Andy Williams.
Speaker 4 (28:35):
It's the most the song is totally turned up. You
could work out to it.
Speaker 5 (28:41):
Yeah, three to two to one, jingle bell rock for
least Navidad and coming in at the happiest Christmas song
according to science, Brenda.
Speaker 4 (28:49):
Lee fucking.
Speaker 1 (28:53):
Christmas. It makes sense. Interesting that art is being measured
by science.
Speaker 4 (28:57):
Hi, Yes, interesting that you pointed that out.
Speaker 1 (29:02):
Didn't for this song? Also like it recharts still your
in every year.
Speaker 5 (29:05):
And there's a like What's her Face? Mariah is already
number one on the truck.
Speaker 4 (29:10):
Call her what's her Face?
Speaker 5 (29:11):
She's starting up to number one, and that's tied a
record for nineteen weeks at number one. Yeah right, so yeah,
and Brenda Lee and a couple of the others always
wind up in the top ten as we get close.
Speaker 2 (29:21):
It's a part of our collective holiday experience.
Speaker 5 (29:25):
Got some proof that yacht rock is alive and well
into the next year. We have a new tour that's
been announced. This is a great one, Jody Christopher Cross
wake up.
Speaker 4 (29:36):
Okay what else?
Speaker 5 (29:38):
The Romantics are also on this tour too, but headlining
the tour would be none other than Toto. Look, I
know they're gonna ask me when can you get your tickets?
Speaker 4 (29:50):
And I've seen them in concert.
Speaker 2 (29:51):
They opened for Journey a couple of years ago when
I went with a friend of mine and guess what incredible?
Speaker 1 (29:57):
I mean, were great, But there your Journey. Look, they're
one of the greatest studio bands of all time when
you think about how many songs they performed on that
they're not credited for.
Speaker 4 (30:09):
The indio.
Speaker 5 (30:10):
Tickets for that tour go on sale this Friday if
you want to get them. Okay, A while back, I
tell you that Aerosmith and Young Blood got together and
put out an EP. It's like Aerosmith's first new music
in a decade. One of the songs on the EP
is called wild Woman, but they didn't have a woman
on the song until uh, Steven Tyler got in touch
with his friend Laney Wilson. Yes, and she is now
on the song that works.
Speaker 1 (30:37):
Yeah, there is Steve.
Speaker 4 (30:42):
Go Lainey.
Speaker 1 (30:44):
Good for Steven Tyler, we're still having his sound, huh.
