Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to the Murphy Salmon Chodi After the Show podcast.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
You have helped us this week with what to binge watch?
If you you know Stranger Things is done and you
weren't satisfied with the like Sam, you've got to move on,
It's time to move on.

Speaker 3 (00:12):
Well you think Stranger Things is done?

Speaker 2 (00:14):
Okay, we do.

Speaker 4 (00:15):
We're really not satisfied with the ending. That was not
really No, I mean I went back and rewatched it.
Oh did you just the first hour until they took
care of Vecna? Okay, I didn't care about this. The
whole second half.

Speaker 2 (00:28):
It was just like it was emotional. It was like
a drama. It went from a sci fi thriller to
a drama. Is what happened.

Speaker 4 (00:34):
In fact, it was if it ended so early, you know,
an hour into it, because usually TV shows or movies
whatever with they if the climax is that early, something
else is coming.

Speaker 1 (00:46):
I know.

Speaker 4 (00:47):
You figure we learned that a long time. We all think,
hey we're safe. They killed Vecna. Yeah great, and it's
like we got an hour left. Something happened something.

Speaker 2 (00:54):
Yeah, it's not really I never did.

Speaker 1 (00:56):
Okay, Yeah, I think the and I don't know that
the different Brothers honestly could have done it any other
way because the adrenaline rush of all of the things.
You have to bring the storylines to resolution. And if
the whole thing was about chasing down you know, Vecna,
which the entire series was about, and then that's all gone,

(01:16):
what are you? What else is there to do? It's
a you know what I mean, it's a it's a
real catch twenty two. I think for any writer. I mean,
I agree with you. The momentum just went away. But
I mean to me, I'm like, okay, I get it right.

Speaker 2 (01:26):
Yeah, I mean, it's their show. They get to write
it the way they want. But you came through with
us this week for what to binge Watch, and so
we wanted to do the whole podcast on your recommendations
that rolled in. I had asked for what to binge
watch and to read, so we got a lot of
good what to read recommendations, and I want to say
I picked one thanks to you, and thanks to some

(01:46):
entertainment news this week, I downloaded and started reading The
Housemaid by FREEDA. McFadden last night and Murphy.

Speaker 1 (01:54):
It's good, Yeah, it's good.

Speaker 2 (01:56):
It's you know, and they say anything by Freda is good.

Speaker 3 (01:59):
This is my first Is it a psychological thriller?

Speaker 2 (02:02):
Yes, it is, very much So.

Speaker 1 (02:04):
How long has that been around?

Speaker 2 (02:06):
I don't know, at least a couple of years, that
trilogy a year at least, because you know, Amanda Sefried
and Sidney Sweeney made the movie, and the news this
week is that Sidney Sweeney has signed on to do
the second movie. There's three books in the trill. It's
a trilogy story. So I wanted to see the movie,
but now I'm reading the book first. I'm a I'm
a fan of both of those actresses. I really like

(02:27):
them both, so I thought I want to see the movie.
But a good read is a good read, is a
good read.

Speaker 3 (02:32):
Sure by the time you finish the book, it'll be
on streaming.

Speaker 2 (02:35):
Oh you're right, Okay, So very excited, and thank you
for the recommendations and for introducing me to this author.
One of my very best friends reads her all the
time and tells me you got to read Freda. So
I'm now doing it. But so to your comments on Facebook,
Instagram and YouTube and all the places you've sent this.
So Pat sent us this. We just finished watching Harlan

(02:56):
Corbyn's run Away, and I've seen that it's on Netflix.
I've seen it in this in the Choices. It starts
a little slow, but wow, was really good. It also
is a book and I plan to read it. So
it's called Runaway.

Speaker 1 (03:10):
We tell our kids not trust strangers and loot it
else who said, I trust you?

Speaker 2 (03:18):
It's one of these that's sort of like true crime,
but it's fiction, okay. And I keep hearing that author's
name as well, Harlan Coben. And so the series is
called Runaway and Pat is not the only person recommending
it to us.

Speaker 1 (03:32):
Yeah, it's smart. With true crime being such the thing
that it has been for years now, it only makes
sense that fictionalized versions and stories would also be popular fiction.

Speaker 2 (03:43):
Yeah all right, okay, another one, Murphy, I want you
to get ready. We are going. I just thanks to
a recommendation. More than one person at Murphy Salmon Jody
dot com recommended that we watch something. It's on Apple TV.
We have that yet, we do, Okay. Murphy is the
keeper of all of our streaming services, and I'm like,
just what's funny is that I'm the one that watches

(04:04):
the most. It's called it. First of all, it's Jennifer
Garner in the lead here. It's based on the bestselling
novel and it's also Nikolai what's his name, the guy
who played Jamie Lanister in Game of Thrones, is called
The Last Thing He told me Jesus is happening here,
your husband? That's not when you think you why are
you making him sound like some criminal?

Speaker 3 (04:25):
Last mind? What so good?

Speaker 2 (04:29):
It looks good too, so thank you for recommending it.
It's one of those streaming services. I never hop on
Murphy Our Apple.

Speaker 1 (04:38):
Yeah, I know, and there are a number of really
very successful series that are on.

Speaker 2 (04:42):
At My cousin Crystal is mad at me, straight up
genuine mad that I'm not watching The Morning shown.

Speaker 1 (04:49):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (04:50):
I watched the one episode and I wasn't in it.

Speaker 1 (04:52):
It's kind of it's kind of a heavy series. I
think it's more of a drama. That's That's part of
the reason for that. My question on you know the
Last Thing he told me is going to be you know,
am I going to be constantly reminding myself this is
not Jamie Lanis er, this is not Jamie Lanister?

Speaker 3 (05:07):
Is he both hands?

Speaker 2 (05:10):
I just want to say this. He's a really talented actor,
but he's and he's really he looks like he's very
classically good looking, so he perfect. He's perfect for this
because you want to like him at first and you
can believe he can just be that guy. But all
of a sudden, there's something else there. That's what it
sounds like this is about. And we know there's many
There were many layers to him in Game of Thrones,

(05:30):
so yay, yeah.

Speaker 1 (05:32):
Some layers that were a little creepy.

Speaker 2 (05:33):
Anyway, Yeah, I'm so excited to watch this. If you
want to watch it with me, we can, like, this
is on our watch list, Murphy.

Speaker 1 (05:39):
Okay, Okay, I trust you.

Speaker 2 (05:41):
Okay. We also got a bunch of recommendations for all
her fault on Peacock.

Speaker 1 (05:46):
Nine nine percent of the time when a child goes missing,
it's a misunderstanding.

Speaker 2 (05:50):
Between some familiar faces here, but realize that's serious. That's
about a child that's missing. It's fictionalized. But Kelly recommended that,
so did Sherry, so did Bill. I mean you kidding me.
A lot of recommendations coming in for that. So if
you can go if you go watch true crime, you
can watch fictional crime. Sam, let's go throw that out. Okay,
here's one on Netflix that we got a bunch of

(06:12):
recommendations for. Karen said, my husband and I watched Ripple
on Netflix. Also, Ripple on Netflix is so good. That
came in from Stacy. I started at Murphy. It's one
of those shows. This wouldn't be for you, Sam, I
don't think, of course you like love. Actually it's emotional.

Speaker 3 (06:29):
What if we were all a part of something larger?

Speaker 2 (06:31):
You also said the music was the one thing that
can make you feel maybe there's some grief and your
choice to give it up as I do. So it's
all these people living near one another and how their
lives sort of connect and how they interact but don't
even know each other. One of those think about the
world we live in. It's a small world, emotional thing.

Speaker 4 (06:53):
A lot of those characters and love actually are interacting where,
you know, right out of each other's lives.

Speaker 2 (06:58):
Correct. So a lot of a lot of you recommending Ripple.

Speaker 3 (07:01):
To us on Netflix.

Speaker 2 (07:03):
It's on Netflix. I started it.

Speaker 1 (07:05):
What do you think.

Speaker 2 (07:08):
Because so many of you on our website recommended it.
I'll finish it, but I don't see you finishing it, Sam,
I see you giving it five minutes in.

Speaker 1 (07:16):
Come is it one that I would watch with you, Jody, I.

Speaker 2 (07:21):
Think you would be like, it's very it feels like
a chick show, fair enough, it feels like you might
not your heart might not. Plus there's an old couple
in it that might upset you because of the way
you acted at the notebook. I don't know.

Speaker 1 (07:40):
Well, yeah, you know, I don't like those.

Speaker 2 (07:43):
In a face that the end will come. Okay, susansent
If you are a Grais Anatomy fan, the resident is amazing.
So Rhnda Ripple on Netflix is amazing. Okay. Eleven twenty
two sixty three is on Netflix again. I'd watched the
series before and liked it.

Speaker 4 (08:02):
Yeah, that was on I think a Hulu series to
begin with, and now it's on Netflix.

Speaker 2 (08:06):
I never watched it, but I read the book, James
Franco's It's a Stephen. It's based on a Stephen King book,
eleven twenty two sixty three. It's about a man who
this is my problem with it. It's a time travel thing. Yeah,
but it's not weird time travel Murphy. He finds himself
back in time and then he finds himself in the

(08:27):
middle of possibly being able to stop the jfksis.

Speaker 1 (08:30):
I remember the premise of the book, and they never
made a movie, right, Sam, it.

Speaker 3 (08:34):
Was just the series series.

Speaker 1 (08:36):
Yeah, yeah, if you.

Speaker 4 (08:37):
Liked the series, didn't you. I liked the book. The
book was a lot better. The series was just like, yeah,
a couple things were missing from it. The book was
much better.

Speaker 1 (08:45):
Okay, the book was.

Speaker 2 (08:46):
So good, and it's a problem for me. Do you
know my story about the book? I bought a copy
of the book, and I loaned it out and I
never got it back. It's just such a sin.

Speaker 3 (08:58):
I'll let me tell you what happens with John Cannon.

Speaker 1 (09:00):
No.

Speaker 2 (09:01):
I read the book. I remember it too bad.

Speaker 1 (09:03):
You couldn't go back in time to get your book back.

Speaker 3 (09:07):
Now, there's some time travel you'd like, Exactly.

Speaker 2 (09:09):
There's so much time since I loaned that book out
and never got it back that if I ran into
that person. It's someone I used to be acquainted with.
If I ran into her, I would not feel comfortable.

Speaker 4 (09:19):
One.

Speaker 2 (09:19):
Hey, by the way, do you have my favorite Stephen
King book that I wanted to I wouldn't say it.
I'll just go get another copy of it myself and
learn my lesson. Right, Maybe don't loan out a favorite book.
I do love to do that with friends that I
loan books all the time.

Speaker 1 (09:33):
Write your name in the front.

Speaker 2 (09:34):
Still I don't think I would have gotten it back.
Susan sent this into Facebook Messenger. I just read Rebecca
Yarrow's the Fourth Wing series. That's another thing my cousin
Crystal has asked me to read and thinks I would
love and I think Sam would love it. They're so good,
this is what Susan says, a bit spicy. They also
have dragons and magic and intrigue and battles and romance

(09:58):
only thrown in. Definitely you recommend That sounds like Sam
to me too. And they're easy to read. And my
cousin Crystal doesn't do that dragon stuff, and she loved them,
couldn't put them down, couldn't put them down. So I
also wanted to throw out honorable mention for the Pit

(10:18):
season two because we have a lot of people who
are just now discovering the first season.

Speaker 1 (10:23):
Your replacement came in. Literally, she's just covering on my
little sabbatical.

Speaker 2 (10:27):
If you want to binge something to the whole first season.
The second season just dropped this month January, and I
heard today Hollywood Outsider stuff is that season three has
already been green lit, and you know at HBO.

Speaker 1 (10:41):
Oh that's a sign of success, isn't it.

Speaker 2 (10:43):
